Aah tysm that info is SO useful!! It’s a little stressful making a custom before knowing what really works in the game. If you don’t mind expanding on personality especially in relation to the mayor role that would be awesome! Truth be told I was considering going high strength and picking adventurous so I could have a strong fighter early which seemed useful, but now that you mentioned gathering is more lucrative long-term I’m rethinking that.
Ah, thank you too. I'm glad my ramblings are helpful. And yeah, high Strength are great for what you said, plus they make good Miners, Builders and Masons which leads to getting very useful materials needed to construct buildings that'll unlock more jobs (which includes the Lodge, which lets your cats become mayors and other specialties), but after I completed them all I hadn't got a need for more, especially with the latter two. Again, you will get more cats as you progress who will fill out the other roles and be good fits, so feel free to make your custom cat as the adventurous fighter you've been imagining! Right then, onto mayors and personalities!
Similar to stats boost, mayors will influence their residents personality stats based on their own. These are shown in this screenshot here:
Tumblr media
As you can see, the stats boosts can be either +1 or -1 for most cats, with the exceptions of the three personalities: Commanding, Rebellious or Pleasant. The former two don't get influenced at all, while Pleasant cats get +2 or -2 instead! While adventuring does use two of the personality traits, which are Benevolence and Bravery, I don't see them be as important as stats, so I'll skip over them for now. Here's a really quick typed-up overview of what's beneficial for each resource gathering jobs for adult cats. The numbers after the + refer to specialty roles you'll get after you finish building the lodge.
Tumblr media
So you can see, high dedication matters a lot. A mayor who's Ordinary or Commanding is ideal. Though I've only tabled up the adult jobs, the +1 dedication will benefit younger cats who are students too, since it's half of what affects their chances of getting permanent stat boosts when they're fully grown. These boosts are the only way, at this point in time anyway, for a cat to get more than 24 in a stat, even if that chance is miniscule. Related to that, I would say high benevolence is the next most important, so mayors who are Gentle or Pleasant would be great too! This is solely because of one specialty role: the Teacher. If the cat you picked as an educator is also Pleasant, that would mean a +2 to their benevolence stat. This, in combination with their Cleverness stat, is the other half to perma stat boost chances for kittens. That said, it is a very specific scenario, so I would just pick someone who can give high dedication and you can't go wrong, imo.

Hi! Can’t join pixel cats end yet but I’ve been scrolling the forums and noticed a bunch of people saying they wished they had min maxed their starter. What do you think the perfect super mayor build is? I was thinking of maxing Strength, Perception, and agility while mostly ignoring luck and charm. Should I prioritize health or finesse after that though? :0
Hello! I would like to preface this by saying this is not an ultimate guide to stats or w/e. I also personally think there's more to a custom than just their build too, and you should go with however you feel right for their character or to yourself instead of focusing so much on it. That said, I do have some Thoughts™.
It's been a while since I first make my custom starter (since I joined in Aug 2023), but if it's still the same, a custom cat can only have four stats at the max of 24 and leave the other three at the minimum of 4. I think this means you can only invest at most 20 points into a single stat out of your given 80. A custom cat will always have, at most, 108 stat total.
Take note that it's very possible to get cats with higher totals than that, even right from the start. You are given 5 other randomized cats (that you can reroll again and again) with your custom after creating them, and those cats can have better distribution/higher totals! That's what happened to me, with two of those cats being "better", and I didn't even hit reroll that much. However, since you're going to make your custom a mayor (which they don't always have to be! My current mayor is a different cat entirely.), let me show you a screenshot:
Tumblr media
For me, I think it's much more important for a mayor to give as many +1 boosts as possible, for help in resource gathering, schooling and adventuring. +3 trinkets also do exist, and therefore you can raise a 24'd stat to 27 for one +3 boost. You cannot get a +4 at all right now, that comes later with a different game mechanic.
So, I guess we have three builds to go about it?
Tumblr media
(^ that's from my village census spreadsheet. Don't worry about which stats these are representing for now.)
Build A, the standard "min-max" build: 4 stats at 24—the village gets four +2 boost, or one +3 boost and three +2 with a trinket.
Build B, the versatile build: 5 stats at 20—the village gets five +1 boost, or one +2 boost and four +1 boost with a trinket. A bit more versatile since you can change which stat gets the +2 by switching trinkets. This is what I would go for if I can reroll my custom cat imo, and if i didn't already have a different cat who is a better mayor.
Build C, the hybrid: 1 stat at 24, 4 stats at 19—the village gets one +2 boost and four +1 boost, or one +3 boost and four +1 boost with a trinket. I see this as a hybrid of the first two. A little less versatile in exchange for that +3 in a single stat.
As for where you want those to go, it really depends on if you are very single-mindedly on adventuring or not. If so, I would say Perception is always good since you always want to move ahead of the monsters, followed by Finesse (the stat used for Ranger class), Strength (for Fighter class), then Agility (for zooming across the map). Agility is less important if you go for Rangers as they always attack from a distance, and you can always use food to get more movement instead. Thief classes also use this stat, but I think Fighters are more helpful here still.
I want to emphasis that more classes/different maps will be introduced as the game expands, so this is really short-term advice! On the other hand, I see resource gathering as more important in the long-term, especially since my cats don't adventure much nowadays. For this, I see Agility and Perception being the most important stats, since the items you get from jobs that utilize those stats are used more often/sell for more to other players imo. Once you unlock the school and start schooling the kittens you breed/Nestor gives you, you can add Cleverness and Finesse to the list too. Health is not used at all in resource gathering, and since food is really abundant in adventuring I see it as less necessary there. Luck is not used at all at this point of the site, but that could change once magic is introduced to Not-Earth. This is already long enough, and I didn't even get into Personality traits and how that can matter more for mayors. Feel free to send in another ask if you want me to elaborate on that though!
