Yo y la Costocondritis

Todo comenzó culpando al malestar general por el resfrió, luego dije que me dolía el pecho por tanto estrés por la carga laboral. Pero había un dolor presente y las días que pasaban no están ayudando a aminorarlo. En un momento me fue imposible moverme de la cama sin sentir un dolor intenso que me hizo pensar que estaba pasando por un pre infarto y la falta de aire me hizo creer que era aun más grave. 

Llegamos al médico y por suerte la doctora que me atendió dio al clavo con lo que tenia en un segundo, era COSTOCONDRITIS. Pero que era esta enfermedad, la verdad no tuve tiempo de preguntar en ese mismo momentos ya que ya me estaban inyectando analgésicos y eso alivio el dolor POR EL MOMENTO.

Ya más tranquila, me puse a investigar sobre esta enfermedad. Es una inflamación del cartílago que une las costillas con el esternón. Se dice que es rara, que aun no se saben las causas exactas y que a pesar de ser dolorosa es benigna por lo que no se debe temer que con el reposo y analgésicos todo pasará. ¿Pero cuanto tiempo es eso?. Pueden ser semanas o meses. He leído que en algunos casos años. 

Pero el dolor sigue, no hay ibuprofenos o diclofenacos que puedan durar en calmarte mas de unas horas y duele pensar que es la única solución. Porque créanme que fui hasta a tres doctores porque quería creer que no era la única respuesta. Tristemente lo fue. 

Pero en ese momento entre dos semanas de dolor nace un nuevo sentimiento. El primero saber que no estas sola, hay miles de personas en el mundo que pueden entender por lo que estas pasando. Un abrazo a todos y decirles que aunque muchas personas en su entorno los hayan juzgado o hayan creído que todo era psicológico los que que pasamos por esto sabemos lo asustados que se puede estar, porque claro esta enfermedad no se puede diagnosticar por medio de radiografías o electrocardiogramas, pero eso no quita que sea doloroso.

En segundo lugar, al final de todo, al ser consciente de la enfermedad que te toca vivir, uno tiene que darle la buena cara. Primero superar el dolor, no te digo que se vaya de inmediato, pero si te invito a salir de la cama. Se que duele al principio, pero somos seres adaptables así que el primer paso es aceptar y convivir con ese dolor latente. El segundo paso es comer sano y hacer ejercicio. Porque es necesario fortalecernos a nivel oseo y muscular para poder erradicar este enfermedad y volver a nuestro cuerpo fuerte para combatir contra cualquier enemigo. Esta etapa es la más dolorosa de pasar, físicamente hablando, pero estoy tratando de darle todo mi empeño. ir a nadar, tomar leche y a tratar de no caer de animo.

Así que esa es mi experiencia, no muy grata, pero que me dio una alerta y una enseñanza de vida que al final de la situación tiene el mensaje positivo de saber que la fuerza tiene que venir de nosotros y que nunca es tarde para comenzar con una vida saludable.

for that fluttering of happiness you get in your chest when a stranger smiles at you and there’s no rhyme or reason; they’re just a kind person and think you deserve some kindness, too.

for the anticipation of meeting your favorite celebrity someday, because that shit can happen.

for the warmth in the center of your chest when you get drunk in a room full of people that you know will want to make sure you get safely back home.

for the peace of a lazy sunday afternoon spent wrapped up in your bed with your favorite show playing on netflix and your favorite junk food within reach.

because you deserve to live. you deserve to experience the wonders of life and all that it can hold for you. you deserve to feel happy, joyful, sad, torn-apart, wrecked, absolutely euphoric, and every other emotion that we beautiful, broken humans are capable of feelings. and it would be a damn shame if you weren’t able to.
