"Reki and Langa aren't in love, stop making it gay all the time"
No. I don't wanna hear it.
Tumblr media
C'mon. I don't care if people don't ship them because they simply don't like the ship, that's completely fine cause everyone has opinions. But at least acknowledge that renga is almost surely canon? Because there's so much evidence that it is, they just didn't say it outright in the show.
Tumblr media
Mom: "you like this person right?"
Langa: gay panic "uh... yeah"
Be so fr this is just a confirmation from Langa that he likes Reki romantically, because nobody is that embarrassed to admit they like their friend platonically. When his mom says to go tell "her" how he feels, he doesn't even look shocked that she thought it was romantic. He was surprised that she thought it was a girl 💀
Tumblr media
There's so many other moments too, like their moment in the rain. Their breakup was the most drama romance coded thing ever, like those bitches just stood there in the rain and stared at each other longingly. Then when they got back together it was like the light came back into both of their lives. Like pls spare me the crap and just kiss already.
Oh and don't even get me started on this scene:
Tumblr media
or when Langa was just casually holding Reki by the waist while skateboarding.
Idk if that's not canon then I have no idea what a canon relationship is supposed to look like.

It's such a struggle when the main characters have a canon love interest that's of the opposite gender and I'm like "nah fuck that" and ship the mlm or wlw ship instead
(no hate towards canon straight ships, I love some of them dearly)

Idk if I'm just slow but I recently noticed that Horimiya characters follow this theme of not being exactly who they seem to be on the outside (literally everyone).
Like how Hori was a popular girl but also a family girl too, and Miyamura seemed quiet and cold but was actually nice. Sengoku wasn't a harsh student council prez, Remi wasn't a dumb cute girl, Yuki wasn't an easygoing chill classmate. Everyone was pretty misunderstood, almost everyone except one:
Shuu Iura will always be, in my opinion, the best written character in Horimiya. Not my favorite, that spot is reserved for Sengoku, but probably one of the most complex.
I think it's due to the fact that most of the others were different on the inside but didn't really go to great lengths to hide it, usually they just didn't have people who truly understood them. However, Iura purposefully acts different around others, even close friends, and that's really neat to me.
His relationship with his sister and how he acts when he's alone compared to when he's with his friends is so real, and it's very well done. He's exaggerated and loud at school, and everyone knows people like that irl. His switch around from "class clown" to "mature and protective older brother" was something I definitely didn't see coming, and the fact that he wasn't just the comedic relief like I thought he would be was refreshing.
It's a different kind of interesting character trait compared to "the bullied kid" or "the smart kid" that Miyamura and Sengoku follow, and I've always loved the whole "im so silly but actually im pretty serious" character type.
I find characters who put on clownish fronts to be rather interesting, especially because his classmates and his friends don't know his true personality with the exception of maybe Tooru. Even at the end of the show, when the gang was close, he was still hiding his true personality from them.

**SPOILERS FOR LINK CLICK S2**
I had this theory about how lu guang and cheng xiaoshi got their powers.
Well actually, just how cxs got them. I have 0 clue how they first came to be other than people just being born with them.
But essentially, I think lg originally inherited both powers and somehow split it with cxs. Cause this feels like the sort of power that would come as a whole, not half and half, you know? Seeing into the future and past of a photo + jumping into it for 12 hours is definitely a package deal, and besides, it's so unlikely that these two just happened to have these perfectly complimentary powers and just happened to meet their perfect match.
It's almost the same with the Li siblings because their power perfectly compliment each others too, except in their case, those two were twins. People say that twins are like one soul split into two bodies, so it would make sense that their powers were split as well, but then what about lg and cxs?
I suppose a case could be made for cxs originally being the power holder, but it makes way more sense for it to be lg. He seemed to know everything about the diving power while his partner didn't know anything, and needed to be guided pretty often. Like for the surveillance camera hack, lg might only know that because he used to hold the power and knows how to use it.
And this might be a stretch, but it would also explain lu guang getting stabbed and the vision of cxs dying in his arms. Theres a chance that in the original timeline, lg left him alone in the room while he went to save emma, and then qiao ling got possessed and stabbed cxs instead. Then when lu guang comes back, cxs dies in his arms. Filled with grief, lu guang dives back in time and gives cxs the dive power from the start. This would ensure that cxs wouldn't be in the room when the stabbing occured, and lg was probably fully willing to sacrifice himself instead.
Man I love this show so much. Maybe I'm delulu but hey it makes sense!

**SPOILERS FOR LINK CLICK S2 FINALE**
I genuinely thought I could take anything that this show (Link Click) threw at me, even one of the mcs dying, but not like this.
The last minute reveal of lg's time traveling shit absolutely ruined me, and while it's a stellar plot twist, if either of them die after this it's gonna feel so much more horrid.
Cause if cxs still dies after this then it'll make sense since they said death was an unchangeable node, but it means that lu guang will have gone through all of that for nothing. And maybe lg will somehow change things but die in place of cxs, which will also be depressing but I think he would rather die himself than watch cxs die again. He seemed really disappointed that he didn't die from the stab wound, as if he knew that he didn't get to successfully trade himself...
Honestly, lu guang being a major hypocrite is such good writing, because he's seen as this clean, untouchable do-gooder who has such strict morals, but breaks them for his best friend. Makes you wonder whether he made the "no going back in time" rule because he was afraid of cxs changing something that would ruin his changes.
Also the phone password was a hint, because you can see on lg's watch in the dive scene that it says september 13, at 00:05, which reflects the 091305. It's probably a reminder of what day he needs to jump back to each time.
Which day? idk, but I'd assume its the day the two of them met. But the watch blurred out the year, so it could be the past or the future. Since lg was wearing his s1 clothes I'd say it's the past, along with the fact that he says "i'd still use this last chance" so he's probably jumped before. It makes sense cause qiao ling and cheng xiaoshi joked earlier in the show about how lu guang "appeared out of nowhere"
Anyways those are my 2 cents LMAO I could not stop thinking about this show when I finished it. Tell me your theories!

I can't decide what's more tragic: having a dream without the capabilities, or having the capabilities but not a dream.
That's what makes Sousuke and Harus separate conflicts in s2 with their futures in swimming so depressing.
Sousuke had to give up his dream because his shoulder couldn't function the way it was meant to in order to swim, and he loathed to give up the dream. And at the same time, Haru was struggling with the fact that everyone around him had such high expectations for what he was meant to do with his immense swimming talent, while he himself didn't really know what his focus was other than just wanting to swim free.
The two of them are perfect foils to each other in this regard, and it shows how their animosity towards each other in s2 was deeper than their conflicts over Rin and his future (which now that I type it out it's actually so funny that their beef was literally just bc Sousuke thought Haru was bad for Rin's future)
I'm so glad everything worked out for the two of them by the end of the series, but this realization really enhances both of their characters, their relationship, and Eternal Summer as a whole.
