The fact that Sword Af is now being relegated to an Audio-Only format is really just showing us how little the higher-ups care about it/how little faith they have in it. I have a sneaking suspicion that it never would have been a thing had Damien not been a Games Producer, and now he is no longer that, Sword AF is being pushed aside.

It's disrespectful to Damien, first off, as this was his passion project, it's also disrespectful to Shayne, Angela, Amanda and Chanse because it undermines all of the physical character work they did in season one, and its disrespectful to the fans who showed such an outpouring of support when S1 was airing to the point they did a livestream to acknowledge their fanbase.

Now they're pushing it aside, saying it's not essentially worth the effort of filming. Dont fool yourself into thinking this was a creative choice. It was problem solving.

Smosh keeps making choices that leave a bad taste in the mouth of it's viewership, and doesn't at all communicate with it's viewership about that fact. There was an audience boom when Anthony came back, sure. But smosh is a company, and like any company it relies on the consumer, they're going to HAVE to start listening to their audience if they want to keep on this upward trajectory, because cracks are already beginning to show.

it’s pretty obvious that whoever was the dictator of making sword af audio only has not/ does not avidly play or watch dnd. A game where you do have the rely on the audience to picture these sinarios in their heads a visual medium showing the players is really helpful through facial expressions, movements and character interactions.

I do understand what they are saying with production rates, smosh is one of few YouTube channels that pushes out good quality content every day and I’m still grateful that we are getting a second season. There are many successful dnd podcasts that do only have an audio form which is great for them and their audiences however being already used too a visual medium in the past season this does make this scenario different. Saying all of this I will still be listening too the new season I love the characters, story and cast and I’m excited to hear where Damien is going too take it but in the end this format is sadly less accessible and desirable for most people.

It could be a podcast, but like videoed and released on even the Smosh Cast channel, if they are worried about it taking too much space on the Smosh Games channel??

putting my parasocial and rpf goggles on again im sorry but. do you ever just realize how insane the dynamics in smosh are and how most of it reads out like a sitcom or a fanfic someone made up in their mind.

imagine starting a youtube channel with your childhood best friend, being able to turn it it into a company, falling out along the way, not being in contact with each other for half a decade until one random december and being able to buy back back said company with said best friend and getting to do the thing you guys did at the start.

imagine auditioning for a youtube channel you really look up to and meeting a former disney star who tells you they’ll see you at work immediately after auditioning, being best friends with them along the way, falling in love and getting to announce (or joke about) your marriage with said former disney star in the same youtube channel.

imagine befriending your coworker for a kids sketch comedy show, being best friends, moving on from said show, auditioning for a youtube channel as an actor and later as an on-screen personality, being roommates with said best friend and getting them to audition in the same youtube channel you’re working at so you could work with each other again.

imagine auditioning for a youtube channel that you don’t really know about, meeting someone for the first time in the first video you appear in for said channel, them constantly telling you that you’re killing it and doing a good job, immediately having good comedic chemistry with them on your first video, and then finding out along the way that said person is basically you but just a couple of years older and is practically your soulmate. how do you explain this to someone who just watches reddit stories
