birthday twin [ s. reid ]
Tumblr media
pairing : Spencer Reid x fem!reader
summary / prompt : Spencer and (Y/N) share the same birthday, but (Y/N) has never been fond of her birthday. this year might be a little different though
requested : no
genre : fluff
warnings : not canon compliant, 12 year age gap
AUTHOR’S NOTE - i wrote this in the middle of the night last night bc i wanted to do something for spencer’s birthday yesterday (october 12th). sorry for any typos :)
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
If (Y/N) could sleep through her birthday, she would in a heartbeat. Especially this year because she is turning 30. She’s never looked forward to her birthday.
Especially her 30th birthday.
She’s getting older and time is running out. She hasn’t started a family like she has wanted to since settling down with her boyfriend of three years.
(Y/N) gets why Spencer is so hesitant to propose and start a family. Working for the FBI isn’t exactly the safest job and he is very aware of the fact that his family could be in danger because of his job. He’s made (Y/N) aware of these risks, and she agreed that one day they’ll start a family. She’ll wait until Spencer is ready.
That conversation was nearly two years ago. Nothing has happened since.
When Spencer’s alarm wakes her up and there’s some movement beside her, she keeps her eyes closed. If she opens them then the day will be real. She isn’t sure if she’s ready.
Spencer wraps an arm around her waist and pulls her limp body against his. He begins to press soft kisses to her cheek and jaw. A smile breaks out on (Y/N)’s lips as he begins to hum “Happy Birthday” in her ear.
She can’t help but feel a little happy to be celebrating her birthday with her boyfriend, who just happens to also be her birthday twin.
“Happy birthday, baby,” Spencer mumbles against the swell of her ear. “I know that you aren’t fond of birthdays but I promise this will be the best birthday you have ever had.”
(Y/N) finally opens her eyes and rolls onto her back to look at Spencer. “You say that every year, Spence,” she points out.
“You cannot tell me that the past few birthdays you’ve had haven’t been some of the best birthdays,” he says.
They have been. There is no doubt about that. Being able to celebrate a birthday with the love of your life always makes for a good birthday. (Y/N)’s birthdays have definitely been so much better since Spencer stumbled his way into her life.
“You’re right,” she replies as she wraps her arms around his neck. “Happy birthday to you too, by the way. Sorry you have to go to work today.”
Spencer leans down and pecks her lips. “I told Hotch I needed to leave early so we can get to the restaurant on time for our reservations,” he tells her before he kisses her one more time. “He said it was no problem so I’ll be picking you up from here at six.”
(Y/N) smiles and pushes Spencer’s hair out of his face. “Remind me to thank him for letting you go early,” she teases. “At least I get to have dinner with my boyfriend on our birthday this year.”
Last year, Spencer was in Colorado for a case and it was a week later when he finally got back and they got to have their birthday dinner.
“Hotch said that if we get called out for a case that he would be okay if I left tomorrow to meet them,” he tells her. “I wanted to be here for our birthday. I wanted to be here for you.”
An involuntary smile forms on her lips. “You’d really stay here until tomorrow if your team got called away for a case?” she questions like she doesn’t believe him.
He nods and presses a longer kiss to her lips. “Hotch’s exact words to me were ‘I was young and in love once’ so I guess he understands,” Spencer replies. “What do you want for breakfast? Pancakes? Waffles?” Her ears practically perk up at the mention of waffles. “Waffles it is then. Go take a shower and breakfast will be ready for you in the kitchen.”
After one more kiss, Spencer rolls out of bed. (Y/N) sits up and watches his cute butt gets dressed after their night together. She can’t help but gnaw on her bottom lip as she watches him get dressed into his outfit for the day.
It’s days like these where she thinks Spencer is glad he wears suits to work. He doesn’t need to come back and change after work, depending on what he does at work.
Spencer turns and catches (Y/N) watching him. “You just watched me get dressed, didn’t you?” he asks.
“Guilty,” she laughs. (Y/N) grabs Spencer’s Caltech shirt from the floor and pulls it over her head before she gets up. “You have a very cute butt and I couldn’t resist.”
“You’re lucky you’re cute,” Spencer replies after (Y/N) presses a chaste kiss to her lips. “Go shower. Breakfast will be ready soon.”
She nods and walks toward the bathroom that is connected to their shared bedroom. She pulls off the t-shirt before she turns on the shower and gets the water to a lukewarm temperature.
Her body is still sore from last night’s activities. The warm water helps her muscles relax. She lets out a soft sigh when the water touches her tense muscles.
She lets the water run over her body before she begins her routine.
The shower goes by quicker than she would like, but she does a full shower. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shave, and exfoliation. Not in that order but she makes it a point to shave and exfoliate her skin.
She wants to look and feel good when she goes out tonight.
After her shower, she dries her body and towel dries her hair since she’ll mess with it later when she gets ready for dinner. In the bedroom, she pulls on one of Spencer’s button-up’s that have grown too small on him and a pair of boxers he’s given her before she peddles her way to the kitchen.
The sound of beeping greets her when she walks into the kitchen. Spencer is pulling a freshly cooked waffle out of the iron. It smells so sweet in the room.
(Y/N) comes up behind Spencer and wraps her arms around her boyfriend’s waist. “Good shower?” he asks as he pours another round of batter into the iron.
“Would’ve been better if you were in there with me,” she admits. “You know how much I like it when you wash my hair. Feels so good.”
Spencer laughs as he prepares (Y/N)’s plate. He pours syrup over the waffles before he sprays some whipped cream on the top waffle. He turns around and offers her the plate. “I just have one more waffle to finish up then I’ll join you at the table,” he tells her.
She nods and accepts the plate. After thanking him, she makes her way out to the dining room table. She gets settled in her normal seat.
A beep goes off and not two minutes later, Spencer is sitting across the table from her. They both begin to eat breakfast.
The waffles are light and fluffy. The syrup adds to the sweetness already in the waffles and the whipped cream adds a creamy texture to them. (Y/N) can’t help the groan that passes her lips as she chews the first bite.
“If your career at the FBI doesn’t work out, you should become a chef, Spence,” she compliments. “These are amazing.”
A smiling Spencer says, “I just know how you like your waffles. That’s it.”
She returns the smile as she takes another bite.
This morning has been amazing. Waking up to kisses and Spencer humming in her ear. A nice shower and delicious pancakes.
But something has been lurking in the back of her mind. Something she’s been wanting to know for over a year.
“Um, Spencer?” she asks to get his attention. “I’ve been thinking about something recently and I wanted to know if your feelings have changed on it.”
He raises his eyebrows and looks at her. “What have you been thinking about?”
“A family,” she hesitantly tells him. “With you. I know you said you weren’t ready to start one almost two years ago and I wanted to see where you stood on this since it’s been a while she’s either of us has brought it up.”
Spencer finishes chewing before he replies. “My job hasn’t changed, (Y/N),” he tells her. “It’s still incredibly dangerous and I don’t want to put you or any kids we have at risk.”
Her heart sinks at Spencer’s words.
“I turned 30 today,” she tells him after his words have sunk in. “I don’t have a lot of time left to have a baby.”
Spencer takes another bite of his waffles while (Y/N)’s sit forgotten. “Women can have babies well into their forties and even fifties,” he comments. “You have time to have a baby.”
“I don’t want to be 40 when I have my first baby!” she blurts out. “I know your job is dangerous but I want a family, Spencer. I don’t want to be in my sixties when our child graduates high school and college. I want to be alive to see my grandchildren. You’re twelve years older than me so you’d be in your seventies when our children graduate if I wait until I turn 40 to start a family. Do you really want that?”
At that moment, Spencer’s phone begins to ring. It’s buzzing cuts through the tense silence that has formed between them. She stares at Spencer as he answers the call. “Yeah, I’ll be in soon,” is all he says before he hangs up the phone. “Um, Hotch wants me in early. There’s a case but it’s local so I’ll be able to pick you up at six, okay?”
Tears form in her eyes as Spencer gets up and runs away from the conversation. He kisses her forehead before he mumbles an “I love you” and walks out the door.
(Y/N) watches as Spencer leaves their apartment.
That’s not the answer she hoped he would have. She was hoping that he’d say that he’d love to start their family. She was hoping that he’d say that he’s ready.
Clearly he’s not, and she has some things to think through.
So much for this birthday being the best birthday she has ever had.
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Despite being upset, (Y/N) does begin to get ready at five for Spencer to pick her up for dinner. She has been answering calls and texts all day, including some from Spencer’s team. Penelope actually called her while she was waiting on something to come in about the case to wish her a happy birthday.
She wasn’t feeling very happy when she answered the phone.
The restaurant they’re going to is fancy so (Y/N) grabs a short, slim fitting red dress. The collar is drapped and the sleeves are really chains that crisscross on her exposed back. She pairs the dress with a matching pair of heels. She curls her hair and lets it fall down her back. She does a red and black smokey eye look with dark red lipstick.
Well, at least she looks good. She doesn’t feel good at the moment.
She doesn’t even want to go to dinner at this point. She’d rather stay home and read a book with a glass of wine in her hand than possibly have a second tense conversation like the one she and Spencer had this morning.
At six on the dot, (Y/N) grabs her clutch, keys, and phone before going downstairs to meet Spencer so they can get to the restaurant for their 6:30 reservation.
Five minutes later, Spencer is pulling up in his car. “Hi, beautiful,” he says as he gets out of the car. “Sorry I’m a few minutes late.”
With a quiet shrug, (Y/N) gets into the passenger seat of the car with her boyfriend’s help. She looks out the window at the setting sun while Spencer gets in and begins to head toward their destination for the night.
“JJ and Emily pitched in and got me a small cake,” he tells a silent (Y/N). “Derek badly sang ‘Happy Birthday’ while I blew out the candle. Rossi took some pictures so you’ll have to ask him for those. Then Hotch told us about the case. I’ll spare you those details because it’s really gruesome and not what you want to hear at the moment.”
Spencer seems really happy with how his day has gone while (Y/N) cried as soon as he walked out the door this morning.
She truly understands why Spencer isn’t ready to have kids and start a family. He told her all about what happened to Hotch’s ex-wife and son. He told her all about the threats that his mother has gotten over the years and the threats his team’s families have gotten.
It’s a terrifying thought to bring a child into danger, but they aren’t in danger. In the three years they have been together, (Y/N) hasn’t been harmed or had her life threatened. That should be some reassurance to Spencer, right?
Right?
“Have you really not changed your feelings on having kids with me?” she asks all of a sudden when Spencer comes to a stop at a red light. “You don’t have a biological clock when it comes to having kids. You can get someone pregnant when you’re 80 if you wanted to. I can’t. That’s why I’m bringing this up again. I have a good 10 or 15 years left in me, but I don’t want to wait that long.”
Spencer looks over at her. “I understand, (Y/N),” he says. “I see it from your perspective. See it from mine.”
She raises her eyebrows. “I have!” she exclaims. “I saw it when you explained to me a few years ago why you weren’t ready. You’re 42 now, Spencer. I’m 30. We’re not getting any younger. I understand you have a risky job, but that shouldn’t hold you back from starting a family. If it’s me, then just tell me.”
He pulls into the parking lot of the restaurant and parks the car. He turns to (Y/N) and says, “It’s not you, baby. I promise it’s not you. I’m just scared to bring kids into my life with a risk of losing them, or them losing their mother because of my job. It’s not you. It’s literally me as much as I hate to say that because it’s so cliché. We will start a family one day. I’ve promised you that. You will have kids by the time you’re 40.”
(Y/N) nods. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” he tells her. “I understand your frustration. I hear you. Don’t worry. We will have a family one day.”
She nods again in reply before they get out and walk into the restaurant. Spencer laces their fingers together as they walk through the door. She smiles to herself and looks down at her feet as she walks.
“Hi, reservation for two under the name Reid,” Spencer says when they walk up to the hostess stand.
She nods and grabs two menus for them. “Come with me, Mr. Reid,” she replies. When she walks into the dining room, Spencer and (Y/N) follow her. She sits them down at a table for two. “Your server will be right with you.”
They both thank her and begin to look over the menus in front of them.
The pasta dishes sound the most appetizing to her at the moment. She might get some kind of pasta dish. Maybe pair it with a glass a wine if she decides to get a drink with her dinner.
Their waitress comes and gets their drink and meal orders. Spencer gets a steak dish while (Y/N) ends up getting the pasta dish she wanted. Neither of them get alcohol to drink.
She plays with her thumbs and Spencer asks, “What did you do today? Did your parents call you?”
“Yeah,” she mumbles. “I wasn’t really in the best mood to talk to them though since you decided to leave and not talk to me.”
Spencer frowns. “I’m sorry,” he says. “I know I didn’t leave you with much of an answer because I had to go to work.” He reaches across the table and rests his hands on hers. “I promise tonight will be better. Okay?”
“You also promised that today would be a good day,” she replies. “It hasn’t, Spencer.”
Their drinks come and (Y/N) pulls her hands apart.
Silence fills the air between them. The soft chatter of people around them keeps it from being dead quiet between them.
(Y/N) goes back to playing with her thumbs and sips her glass of water.
“I was going to wait to do this until we left and I brought you to the spot we met but I can’t keep telling you that I don’t want something when I do,” Spencer suddenly says. She raises her eyebrows. “I do want to start a family with you, (Y/N) baby. I love you and I’d do anything to start a family with you because you’d be such an amazing mother. I want you in my life for the rest of it. I want to navigate the risks and dangers with you. With this, I promise to take care of you and keep you safe. I promise to make every birthday the best one because I know how much you hate today.”
(Y/N)’s eyes widen when Spencer slides out of his chair and down to one knee beside her. He pulls a box out of the pocket of his suit. “Spencer,” she gasps. “I-”
The box is pulled open and inside is a diamond ring. The tears that form in her eyes make the sparkling ring a little blurry. “(Y/N) (L/N), my love,” Spencer finishes. “Will you marry me and start a family with me?”
She doesn’t know what to say. She’s still so upset, but now she knows why he kept telling her today that he wasn’t ready.
He was going to surprise her with a proposal.
“You’re not just asking me because I’m upset about our conversations, are you?” she asks. “Because I am going to actually kill you if you are.”
Spencer laughs and shakes his head. “This was the plan all along,” he tells her. “I’m asking you because I love you and want to marry you.”
The smile that she was trying to suppress finally breaks out on her lips before she nods. “Then yes,” she says. “I will marry you, Spencer Reid.”
Everyone around them begins to cheer as Spencer pulls the ring out of the box and slides it onto her left ring finger. She pulls him into a soft kiss while he’s still down on his knees next to her.
Their dinner comes and a free dessert right after. (Y/N)’s mood is completely different when they walk out of the restaurant to go back to their apartment.
She’s engaged now. The family she has always wanted is finally coming together.
Maybe birthdays aren't the worst thing in the world anymore.

part of the ‘ back to school night ’ series
Tumblr media

pairing : teacher!Spencer Reid x single mom!reader
summary / prompt : Spencer realizes just how badly he messed up when (Y/N) lets her ex take Cassia to the school's annual New Year's parent-child dance
requested : kinda
genre : fluff & angst
warnings : age gap (8 years), angst (w a happy ending)
【 Spencer's POV 】
Nervous isn't the right word that Spencer would use to describe how he feels as he gets ready for the school's annual New Year's parent-child dance. He immediately volunteered to be a chaperone in hopes that (Y/N) and Cassia would make appearances at the dance.
The way he reacted when (Y/N) told him that she wanted to tell her daughter about them was not the right reaction. Staying quiet when (Y/N) thought he didn't want to make their relationship permanent was not the right thing to do.
Letting her walk out the front door of his apartment was the biggest mistake of his life up to this point. The look of hurt on her face when she left broke his heart, and he was the one that caused it.
It's a long shot of getting (Y/N) to talk to him at the dance, but he still dresses his best. He ties a black tie around his neck and flattens it against the white button-up. He wears black slacks to complete the look. Spencer goes sans jacket because it's a warm January night in Washington D.C.
With a soft sigh, he grabs his keys, wallet, and phone before he heads to the metro station to get to the school early so he can help set up the gym with the organizers and other chaperones.
He hates that he said any of those things to her. He hates that he implied that he doesn’t want their relationship to be permanent.
Spencer loves her. Spencer loves her daughter. He’d do anything to be apart of their family. He already treats Cassia like his daughter when outside of the classroom. He would love to be a father figure to her.
The dance starts at seven. Parents begin to file in with their kids right before. Kid friendly music begins to play throughout the gymnasium as families file in.
His eyes are practically trained on the door, waiting for (Y/N) and Cassia to come walking in.
“You know, you seem a little too focused on that door and not on the people already in the room,” one of his colleagues and closest friends says. Spencer looks over at Derek Morgan with raised eyebrows. “Who are you waiting for? You’ve gotten awfully close to Cassia (L/N) and her mother recently. Spending a lot of time outside of class with them. Leaving school with them. Are you waiting on them?”
Spencer sighs and goes back to looking at the door. His cheeks heat up a bit because he didn't realize that his friends noticed or that it was that obvious. “Aw, look,” Emily says with a smile. She reaches out and pokes at his warm cheeks. “He’s all flustered. Someone has a crush.”
He rolls his eyes and pulls his head away from his colleague. “It’s not a crush.”
“Pretty Boy’s in love,” Derek teases. Emily laughs on the other side of him. “How cute is that? Tell us about her, Spencer."
"I don't think there is a lot to tell right now," he admits. defeated. He hasn't told anyone what happened between him and (Y/N). "I royally messed up at Christmas. I don't even know if she is coming. I hope she is though. I need to talk to her."
Emily blinks and asks, "You asked to chaperone because you hoped Cassia's mom would come? So you could talk to her?"
"She hasn't been answering my calls or texts," Spencer tells both of them. "I don't know what else to do. I don't want to just show up to her apartment since we haven't told Cassia anything."
There's a beat of silence between the three of them before Derek says, "So there is something going on between the two of you? You just haven't told Cassia yet."
Spencer shakes his head. "It's why I royally messed up at Christmas," he replies. "I implied something I didn't mean and I let her walk out the door instead of saying something to stopping her. We haven't talked since Christmas Eve."
"You're in some deep shit, kid," Derek says. "For both your sakes, I hope she does show up."
He mumbles a "me too" under his breath.
It's close to 7:30 and Spencer is about to give up in waiting for (Y/N) and Cassia when he watches little Cassia run into the gymnasium. He smiles, then notices who her hand is attached to. It falters for a second before he notices which direction she's running in.
Cassia, being Cassia, runs up to Spencer with the biggest smile on her face. "Hi, Doctor Reid!" she says. "Daddy brought me to the dance."
Spencer's eyes flicker up to Cassia's father's face. Mateo holds his hand out to Spencer, who takes it and gives it a firm shake despite not wanting to touch him. "Nice to see you again, Doctor Reid," he says. "Cassia really likes you. You're all she talks about sometimes."
"I try to make class as enjoyable as possible," Spencer replies. "I'm surprised that I'm all she talks about sometimes."
Mateo smiles and looks down at Cassia. "She's mentioned that you have come over to her house to have ice cream and movie night sometimes," he tells Spencer. There's a hint of suspicion in his voice. Spencer notices it immediately. "She must really like you if she invites you over for ice cream and movie night with her mother."
"Will (Y/N) be joining you tonight?" Spencer asks since she was brought up in the conversation.
A sad Cassia replies, "She isn't feeling well so she asked if daddy could bring me to the dance. She looked upset when she dropped me off at daddy's house."
There's a pang of guilt in his chest. He's the reason she's so upset. She couldn't even bring her daughter to a dance that even she was looking forward to. Cassia even looks upset that her mother couldn't come.
That's because of him.
Spencer still needs to talk to (Y/N). She may not be here but Cassia is here, which means (Y/N) is home alone. The perfect opportunity for him to talk to her without Cassia running in and hearing anything.
"How about this?" Spencer begins to say as he crouches down to meet Cassia's eyes. "I go see if your mom is okay while you have fun with your dad. Would that make you feel better?"
Cassia nods. "She's always happier when you're around," she tells him. "Don't tell her I told you, but I think mom has a crush on you, Doctor Reid." A little giggle comes from the little girl.
"Don't tell your mom but I think I have a crush on her too," Spencer almost whispers. His voice returns to normal and he stands up. "I'll go check on your mom, okay? You need to promise me that you'll have fun with your dad while I'm away."
Without hesitation, Cassia grabs her father's hand and pulls him toward the dance floor where other parents are dancing with their child.
From across the room, Spencer meets Derek and Emily's eyes. He points toward the door to let them know he's leaving. Emily smiles and Derek nods. With their blessing, Spencer practically runs out the door.
The commute from the school to (Y/N)'s apartment goes by slowly. Spencer is fidgeting the entire time he's on the metro. He texts Derek to explain that he may or may not be coming back.
' Went to tell (Y/N) that I love her. May or may not be back. Wish me luck '
' go get her, lover boy '
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Spencer stands out front of (Y/N)'s apartment for ten minutes with his fist ready to knock on the door. He just stares at the door and listens to Grey’s Anatomy come from the other side while he musters the courage to knock.
He can’t let them go another two weeks without talking. He loves her and he doesn’t want to lose her. It would be the worst mistake he has ever made.
The threat of losing (Y/N) is the reason he raps lightly on the door. Grey’s Anatomy goes quiet and there are footsteps behind the closed door.
Spencer feels his heart shatter at the sight in front of him.
(Y/N) has red rimmed and puffy eyes. Her hair is in a messy bun on top of her head. She’s wearing the t-shirt she left his apartment in that day.
“What are you doing here?” (Y/N) asks. Her voice is hoarse and weak.
He tries not to let the heartbreak and guilt show on his face. “You didn’t come to the dance,” he softly says. “Cassia told me you didn’t feel good so I wanted to come check on you. I also wanted to come talk to you.”
She just stares at him. “Now you want to come talk to me?” she snaps. “It’s been two weeks, Spencer. If you really wanted to talk to me, you would’ve already. If you don’t mind, I want to be alone so you can go back to your dance.”
As the door shuts, Spencer makes an decision that’s going to end really badly or really good.
He shoves his foot between the door and the wall to keep it from shutting.
“I love you,” he blurts out. He gets nothing but silence at his confession. “(Y/N). I am in love with you. I’m so sorry that I implied that I didn’t want this to be a permanent thing because I do. It’s because I love you. I want to be with you. I want this to be a permanent thing. Please. I’m sorry.”
There is more silence for a moment before the door slowly creaks open. (Y/N)’s big eyes look at him when her head peers around the wood. He sees they’re wet and tears threaten to spill over to her cheeks.
Spencer frowns at the sight of her tears.
“If you love me then why did you imply that you didn’t want this to be permanent?” she asks. Her voice shakes as she talks. “You seemed so freaked out about telling Cassia.”
“I didn’t mean to imply that I didn’t want this to be a permanent thing,” Spencer tells her. “I do. I want to tell Cassia because you're right. She does adore me. I’d do anything for us to be permanent and to be a little family. (Y/N), I am truly sorry. I know it sounded like I didn’t want to be with you for the long term, but I do. I love you, and I love Cassia. You’re it for me, (Y/N). You're both it for me. I love you. Both of you."
He watches her bottom lip wobble before tears roll down her cheeks. "You're not lying to me, are you?" (Y/N) questions. "Because I swear to God, I will never speak to you again if you're lying to me about-"
With a sudden surge of strength and confidence, Spencer pushes the door open and crashes his lips to hers. His hands cup her jaw and his fingers curl into her hair. He feels his thumbs get wet with her tears.
He pulls her flush against him, but it still takes her a few seconds before she touches him. Her hands wrap around his wrists and she leans into him to deepen the kiss.
Spencer pulls back from the kiss and he rests his forehead against hers. (Y/N)'s eyes are closed but tears are rolling down her cheeks. He wipes them away with his thumbs. "I would never ever lie to you about loving you, (Y/N)," he whispers to her. "Either of you."
"I'm sorry for ignoring you," (Y/N) replies with a shaky voice. She pulls her head back and meets Spencer's eyes. "I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions. I just got nervous. There have been so many guys that I've introduced to my daughter and they ended up ending the relationship because they didn't want a ready-made family. I'm very protective of her and I need to protect my own heart."
"I know," he replies with a nod. "I understand that and where you're coming from. You don't owe me any apologies, (Y/N). I really didn't mean to imply anything because I do love you and I want to be with you for the long term. I wouldn't lie about that."
(Y/N) wraps her arms around him and puts her nose into his chest. Spencer buries his face in her hair and sighs. He wraps his arms around her neck like he's protecting her.
After a moment of silence between them, (Y/N) mumbles, "I love you too. It hurt to be away from you. I hated ignoring your texts and calls. All I wanted to do was talk to you, but I was scared."
A small smile forms at her confession. "You needed time, and that's okay," he tells her. "Take as much time as you need."
"I think two weeks is enough time," (Y/N) states as she lifts her head up. She sniffles and Spencer leans down to kiss away the tears that have slipped down her cheeks. "I want you here, Spencer."
"I think we should tell Cassia," Spencer replies. "If you still want to. I completely understand if you want to wait again."
She smiles. "Do you think they're still at the dance?"
"Probably, since it doesn't end until nine," he answers. "What are you thinking?"
"Give me a few minutes to get ready and I'll drive us to the school."
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Nervous is the right word Spencer would use to describe how he feels walking into the gym after his talk with (Y/N). He has a beautiful woman attached to his arm and they are about to tell her daughter that they are in a relationship and have fallen in love with each other.
He's more nervous than he was when he transitioned from being an FBI profiler to an elementary school teacher. Spencer has no idea how Cassia is going to react to seeing her mother and her teacher together.
Right outside the gymnasium, Spencer stops them. (Y/N), now with a face-full of makeup and a beautiful dress on, looks up at him. "Are you okay?"
"Um, I have to admit that I'm a little nervous," he replies. "I mean, I want to tell her, but I'm terrified of her reaction. And her classmates' reactions."
(Y/N) walks and stands in front of him. "She loves you, Spencer," she assures him. "Who cares what her classmates think? We're in love."
He laughs as his girlfriend gets on her tiptoes and pecks his lips.
"She's always happier when you're around" is what Cassia told him before he left. Spencer is seeing that now. She has been all smiles since they talked.
With (Y/N)'s assurance, he hooks his arm with hers. "Let's go."
The two of them walk into the gym together. Parents are dancing with their kids on the dance floor. Others are eating at the tables.
Spencer looks around the room. He sees Derek and Emily smile at him when they see (Y/N) on his arm. They're huddled near the dance floor with JJ and Penelope, who must have gotten to the dance right after Spencer left to go talk to (Y/N).
"Mom!" a little voice shouts over the music. "You're here."
Cassia practically throws herself into her mother's arms. (Y/N) leans down and picks her up after letting Spencer's arm go. She sits Cassia on her hip. "I'm here," she tells her daughter. "Thanks to Doctor Reid."
He loves when (Y/N) calls him by his title. He can't help the smile that forms on his face. "I told you I'd talk to her, didn't I?" he asks Cassia. "I managed to talk her into coming to the dance. I'm good at what I do."
Mateo walks up to the three of them. "Should I be heading out?" he asks as he looks at them. "The three of you look really cute."
"No!" Cassia exclaims as she scrambles out of (Y/N)'s arms to get to her father. "All my favorite people are in one room. I don't want you to go." She wraps herself around Mateo's waist. "Please don't go."
(Y/N) smiles and crouches down so she's eye to eye with her daughter. "Cassie, can I tell you something?" she asks. Cassia nods and turns and stands in front of her mother. "Remember how I told you that I really like someone and that it was someone that you knew?" Cassia nods again in reply. "How would you feel if that person that I really like was Doctor Reid?"
A wide-eyed Cassia looks up at Spencer then looks back at (Y/N). "Is Doctor Reid your boyfriend?" she asks. When (Y/N) nods, Cassia turns to Spencer with a serious look on her face. "You better take care of my mom, Doctor Reid. I wasn't kidding when I said that she's happier when she's around you."
"Don't worry," Spencer begins to say. "I'm happier when I'm around your mom, and you too. I promise I'll take care of your mom."
"Does this mean I'll ace every test for the rest of the year?" Cassia asks.
(Y/N)'s jaw drops. "Cassia (L/N)," she sternly says. "Just because your teacher is my boyfriend does not mean your get special treatment. He told me he's still going to treat you like every other student in class.”
Spencer can’t help but laugh. “You’re already my smartest student, Cassia,” he tells her. “You don’t need special treatment to ace your tests.” A bright smile forms on Cassia’s face.
“Do I get to call you Spencer outside of class now?” she asks.
“That’s all up to you,” he says. “In class, call me Doctor Reid though.”
She nods and looks up at Mateo, asking if they can go dance. He says they can do they run off to the dance. (Y/N) stands back up and hooks her arm with Spencer’s.
Spencer watches Mateo and Cassia dance on the dance floor. He feels (Y/N) rest her head on his shoulder. He looks down and sees the biggest smile on her face.
He turns his head and pecks her forehead. “That went well,” he comments. (Y/N) hums in reply. When he looks back up, he sees Derek, Emily, Penelope, and JJ all walking up toward him. “I am so sorry for what my friends say to you.”
“Aw, she’s so pretty,” Emily says. She holds out her hand for (Y/N) to shake. “Emily Prentiss. Fifth grade teacher. I can’t believe Reid managed to find such a pretty girl like you, or that you are into the whole nerd look.”
Spencer’s cheeks heat up as (Y/N) says, “The whole nerd look does it for me. My favorite look is when he’s wearing his glasses and is so focused on the work that is in front of him.”
He looks down at her and she rests her chin on his shoulder. Spencer brushes away the strand of hair that has fallen into her face. “Good to know,” Spencer says.
“This is so cute,” JJ says.
“Pretty Boy is in love,” Derek comments. “I’m gonna start calling you Lover Boy, Reid.”
Spencer’s eyes widen. “I beg you not to,” he replies.
Penelope hooks her arm with (Y/N)’s and says, “We are going to be best friends.” She pulls his girlfriend away from him. Penelope walks off with (Y/N), Emily, and JJ.
He watches his girlfriend and some of his closest friends bond while they get a drink from the table. He can’t help but smile at the sight.
“So, I guess tellling her that you love her went well,” he states as he looks over at Spencer. “You look at her like she’s the only person in the world. It’s cute. I’m happy for you, Spencer.”
“She loves me too,” he replies. “Despite messing up at Christmas. I get why she didn’t talk to me for a couple of weeks. I wouldn’t want to talk to me either it I implied that didn’t want a long term relationship.”
Derek lightly punches Spencer in the shoulder. “That is for almost ruining what might be the best thing to ever happen to you,” he tells Spencer. “If you want to get out of here though and go start making it up to her, go ahead. We got it from here. I’m sure Cassia’s dad wouldn’t mind having her over for the night.”
He looks back at (Y/N) with Penelope, JJ, and Emily. All four of them are laughing. “She’s making friends at the moment,” Spencer tells Derek. “When she’s ready to leave, she can come find me. Ask Mateo if he can take Cassie for the night. She’s so happy right now. I don’t want to pull her away from that. Especially after the last few weeks.”
“You’re right,” Derek agrees. “Let me know when you head out.”
He nods and Derek walks off to go help a parent with something. Spencer’s eyes land back on (Y/N).
Sometimes he doesn’t know how he got so lucky. She is stunning with her little black dress and curly hair. He doesn’t understand how he managed to get a woman like her to fall in love with him.
“Doctor Reid,” a little voice says, bringing him out of his head. He looks down to see Cassia standing next to him. “Do you love my mom?“
Now he knows why Cassia is so smart. Her mother is.
“Yeah, I love your mom,” Spencer replies. “How did you know that?”
“You look at her like you love her,” Cassia observes. “I know she loves you too. The way she talks about you sometimes is gross.”
Spencer laughs and (Y/N) makes her way back to the two of them. “You two look like you’re bonding,” she states. “I don’t need to worry about you two hanging up on me already, do I?”
“Unfortunately, we’ve already done that a few times,” Spencer admits. “Sorry.”
She laughs and looks at Cassia. “Would you mind spending the night with your dad tonight?” she asks. “I think that Spencer and I need to have a little adult time tonight.”
Cassia gets super happy and nods. She runs off to her dad and Spencer looks at (Y/N). “Adult time?”
“A lot of adult time,” she replies. “Plus, I still need to give you your actual Christmas gift.”
“Oh, the outfit and the sex wasn’t my Christmas gift?”
(Y/N) shakes her head and wraps her arms around his neck. “Part one of your Christmas gift,” she tells him. “I think you’ll like part two though. Do you want to go see what it is?”
He nods and lets her lace her fingers with his. He catches Derek’s eyes and points at the door with his free hand. Derek gives a thumbs up so he knows he saw the point.
Spencer follows her to the car. Her heels clicking away on the pavement. Her curls bounce as she walks, and Spencer finds himself completely amazed by the fact that she loves him back.
This beautiful, intelligent woman who saves lives actually loves him back without his fancy FBI job and nerdy looks.
After Christmas Eve, he isn’t so sure he deserves her love. He definitely doesn’t deserve her forgiveness.
Inside (Y/N)’s car, Spencer leans over the center console when she is settled in the driver’s seat. He turns her head and captures her lips in a soft kiss. She smiles against his lips for a second before pulling back.
“What was that for?”
“I just …” he trails off. “I’m amazed by the fact that you love me. I don’t think I deserve your forgiveness either. I wouldn’t forgive me after what I said.”
(Y/N) shakes her head and takes Spencer’s hands in hers. “My love for you trumps any hatred or anger I’ve had towards you for what you said,” she tells him. “As angry as I was, I knew it wouldn’t last because I love you. Now I know you didn’t mean it so I forgave you.”
Spencer looks down at their connected hands. “I’m not good at this, (Y/N),” he whispers. “I’ve never had a meaningful relationship that lasted more than a few weeks. I don’t know how to do this.”
She dips her head down to meet his eyes. “You don’t have to know everything, Spencer,” she tells him. “We can learn together, okay?”
“Okay.”
(Y/N) lifts his head up and Spencer sees sincerity in her eyes. She runs her fingers through her hair and gives him a small smile. “I love you, Spencer Reid,” she tells him. “I think I’ll always love you. You better not break my heart.”
He shakes his head. “Never.”

Sneaking around is hard enough, but sneaking around with an 8-year-old child in the house is a whole other level. Especially for three months.
(Y/N) hates feeling like she’s lying to her daughter and that she has been since early September.
There are two days until Christmas. It’s been three and a half months of sneaking around and coming up with lies about why she has to stay at her dad’s for a few extra hours after school.
Cassia is young and loves her dad enough to not ask questions or be suspicious of her mother’s behavior. (Y/N) is at least grateful for that.
(Y/N) and her daughter are in the car on the way to Cassia's father's house on Christmas Eve Eve. According to their custody agreement, Cassia is to spend the night of the 23rd into the 24th with her father while spending the 24th into the 25th. Her father is always welcome to join them to open presents with their daughter on Christmas.
"Mom," Cassia says from the backseat. "What do you do when you drop me off at Daddy's?"
She blinks and looks in the rearview mirror at her daughter. "I stay up really late and have a couple of adult drinks," she replies. It's not a complete lie. Sometimes she has a guest over ... in her bed.
"Daddy lets me stay up late," Cassia says.
"I know he does," (Y/N) replies when she pulls up and parks out front of her ex's house. She turns in her seat to look at Cassia. "I've told him not to multiple times but he never listens to me. Anyway, we're here. Grab your backpack."
An excited Cassia grabs her backpack while her mother helps her out of the car. She runs up to the door and knocks on it. (Y/N) is right behind her as her father opens the door.
Cassia's father leans down and picks her up. "Back again, Munchkin?"
"Mom is going to stay up late and have adult drinks," Cassia tells her father. "She's so boring."
"Ouch," (Y/N) laughs before snatching her back from her father. "I'll be back for you tomorrow, squirt. Now go play. I have to talk to your father."
She runs up the stairs. Cassia's father, Mateo, leans against the doorframe. "I'm not in trouble, am I?"
(Y/N) shakes her head. "I just wanted to know how you told Cassia that you were dating someone," she replies. "Because I have no idea how to do that, especially because it's someone she knows."
Mateo says, "I gave her ice cream and told her about Jenna when she was at her happiest. She seemed happy, but she didn't meet Jenna for a few more weeks. She would ask me so many times a day when she would get to meet her so I eventually caved in. If she knows the guy you're dating then she shouldn't have much of an issue."
"So give her ice cream and tell her about my boyfriend," (Y/N) repeats. "Sounds good. Thanks. I'll be back around one tomorrow to come get her."
When she turns around to leave, Mateo says, "Hey, I don't get to know about your new boyfriend? I told you about Jenna when we started telling people about our relationship."
(Y/N)'s cheeks heat up. She still isn't used to calling Spencer her boyfriend. That title is only about six weeks old, but they've casually been seeing each other since back-to-school night.
“It’s still kind of new,” she admits. “I don’t think we’re ready to tell people yet, except maybe Cassia. I have to talk with him when I see him later.”
Mateo wiggles his eyebrows. “Later,” he teases. “Have fun later.”
“Shut up,” she playfully snaps. “I have to go get his gift so if you’ll excuse me.”
He lets her go this time. (Y/N) walks to her car and starts it up when she’s inside.
It’s a half-hour drive back to her apartment from Mateo’s house that he and his now fiancé share. She’s quick to get inside and get Spencer’s Christmas gift.
The gift isn’t exactly something that Spencer can unwrap, so she throws on a trench coat on top of the lingerie set that she bought so Spencer can “unwrap” her.
The set is red and lacy since it is Christmas. The bra is pretty much see-through and hides nothing. The panties are the same way. She’s practically naked.
She curls her hair, puts on some red lipstick to match the set, and then gets back in her car to head to Spencer’s.
Her hands are shaking as she drives the ten minutes to Spencer’s apartment. She’s never done anything like this for anyone, not even Mateo. They were together for years and she never put on lingerie to surprise him.
Needless to say, (Y/N) is extremely nervous. She has no idea how Spencer is going to react to his “gift”.
(Y/N) sits outside of Spencer’s apartment building for a few minutes when she pulls into the spot next to his car. She has completely lost the confidence she had when she bought the set a few weeks ago. She even contemplates going home to change really quickly and grabbing the actual gift that she was going to give to him after Christmas the next time she saw him.
Her plans to flee and change are quickly shut down when Spencer texts her.
‘ Almost here ? I’m ready for my present :) ‘
‘ just pulled up. give me a second. patience, dr reid ‘
‘ Finishing up some grading so just come in ‘
‘ got it. see you in a few seconds ‘
With a sigh, (Y/N) gets out of the car. Her heels click on the pavement as she walks into the building. She gets on the elevator because Spencer just has to live on the top floor, and she is not walking up six flights of steps in heels. That sounds like torture to her feet.
In the elevator, she sees herself in the mirror which is the wall of the elevator. Her hair still looks nice. Her lips are a rosey red color. Her eyes are bright and she is glowing.
She looks good. Who cares what a boy thinks?
Her confidence rebuilds itself just as the elevator dings and the doors open.
After a short walk down the hallway, (Y/N) knocks as she opens the door to Spencer’s apartment. “Spence? Where are you?” she calls as she sticks her head into the apartment.
“Office,” a faint voice calls from somewhere. “Be right there.”
As she closes the door behind her, a slightly disheveled Spencer Reid appears out of the hallway that leads to two bedrooms, a bathroom, and an office. He smiles when his eyes meet (Y/N)’s.
“Hi, my love,” (Y/N) greets him. Spencer leans down and presses a chaste kiss to her lips. “How is grading going?”
“Well, I’m grading spelling tests in cursive so it’s only a little frustrating since the kids are still learning how to write in cursive,” Spencer tells her. “Cassia’s writing is beautiful, by the way. Wonder where she gets that from.”
She smiles and wraps her arms around Spencer’s neck. “I taught her well,” she replies.
Spencer brings one of his hands up and traces her jaw with the back of his pointer finger. “A child’s first teacher is their mother,” he softly says. “No wonder she is insanely smart.”
“Stop trying to flatter me,” (Y/N) laughs. “You already know how much I like you. You don’t need to flatter me anymore. Not that you did much of that to begin with.”
He laughs in reply. “Give me ten minutes to finish up with grading then I am all yours,” Spencer tells her as he presses another quick kiss to her lips.
“Go be a teacher, Doctor Reid,” she replies. “I’ll be right here while you finish up.” There’s a hint of mischief in her voice and a smug smirk on her face. Spencer notices but he doesn’t ask any questions. He just raises his eyebrows at her.
Without another word, Spencer turns on his heels and heads back down to his office. She doesn’t hear a door shut, which she knows he likes to do when he wants to be left alone in his office.
She gives it five minutes before she puts her plan in motion and slowly makes her way down to the office. She walks very slowly and tries not to make any noise.
(Y/N) pushes the door open slightly and pops her head in to see her boyfriend hard at work. He has on his cute little glasses and looks concentrated on the paper on his desk. His head rests in one hand.
It would be a lie if she said that a focused Spencer is very hot. Especially when he goes into what she calls “teacher mode”, like he’s in right now.
He writes a letter on the paper that is in front of him before he puts it to the side. Spencer glances up to see (Y/N) standing at the door. He takes a second look.
“Sorry,” she says. “Couldn’t resist coming down and watching you work for a few minutes.”
Spencer laughs and shakes his head. "You would find a way to come watch me work," he replies as he leans back in his chair. He puts his glasses down on his desk. "I just finished though. Come here."
She smiles and walks further into the room. "I like watching you work, Spence," (Y/N) tells him as she leans against the desk with her legs between his knees. "You look so focused and cute. I can't help it."
"You know," Spencer slowly says. "I've noticed you haven't taken off that jacket yet when you usually get comfortable within seconds of walking in here."
(Y/N) sucks her bottom lip between her teeth. "Maybe your present is under the jacket," she tells him. Spencer raises his eyebrows. "Why don't you find out?"
He stands up, his legs between (Y/N)'s knees. She leans back on her hands on his desk so he can easily untie the tie that's keeping the jacket closed.
Her entire body shakes as Spencer undoes the tie around her waist. The jacket falls open and Spencer's eyes widen as he gets a look at what's underneath the jacket. "Fuck, (Y/N)," he mumbles under his breath. "You're going to kill me."
"Well, we wouldn't want that now, would we?" she says as she goes to close the jacket again.
Spencer shakes his head and almost shouts, "No, no, no!" He pushes the jacket off of (Y/N)'s shoulders until it pools around her wrists on the desk. She smiles when his hands slide to her waist and rest on the bare skin above the waistband of the panties. His thumb plays with the waistband itself. "I like it. Actually, I love it."
She smiles and feels her cheeks heat up. "Glad you like it," she says. "Merry Christmas."
"I like my Christmas present," he mumbles. (Y/N) has noticed that his eyes haven't left her body. "My pretty girl."
Her nickname that Spencer only uses when he wants sex or is turned on causes her cheeks to overheat.
She doesn't know how but she pulls her hands out of the sleeves of the jacket to reach out and cup Spencer's jaw. His warm eyes meet hers, and she sees a darkness in them. The same darkness he has when he craves her. (Y/N)'s hands slide down his neck and chest. Her fingers work at untying the tie around his neck.
"I don't understand why you always wear a full suit and tie," she tells him. "What have you done today that made you put this on."
"Faculty meeting at the school this morning," he replies as she gets the tie undone. "You've gotten better at untying ties, baby."
Using the tie, (Y/N) pulls Spencer close to her. He smiles. "I have a really good teacher," she teases.
As soon as the last word passes her lips, Spencer closes the space between them. His lips attack hers and he bites her lower lip. (Y/N) hums and uses her heels to pull Spencer even closer to her.
His hands come up and his fingers find a home in her curls. His fingers curl in her locks, not letting her go very far.
The tie drops to the floor, the jacket follows shortly after. (Y/N) begins to work on unbuttoning the shirt he's wearing. She untucks the shirt and shoves it off his shoulders to the floor.
She hooks her fingers into the waistband of his pants and turns them around so Spencer is the one against the desk. She kisses her way to his neck and mumbles, "That was only part one of your gift." She undoes the belt around his waist. The metal clangs together as she undoes it. Quickly, she pushes his pants down. "This is part two."
Before Spencer can reply, (Y/N) slides down to her knees in front of him. "Oh, fuck me," Spencer breathes out.
"That's going to be your job," she teases as she takes his semi into her hand. It doesn't take very long for the semi to get fully hard after she begins to stroke him. "Right now, I want you to fuck my mouth."
Spencer gnaws on his bottom lip as (Y/N) wraps hers around his dick. Her tongue swirls around the tip before she takes him in her mouth. She looks up at him with her eyes and finds that his head is thrown back. His lips are red and kiss-bruised from the rough kisses they shared earlier.
(Y/N) hollows out her cheeks and Spencer groans. “Oh my God,” he pants. He slowly begins to thrust his hips into her mouth. She stops moving her head and lets Spencer completely take over.
She feels Spencer grab a fistful of her curls. When he pulls slightly, (Y/N) lets out a soft groan around him. He looks down at her and she notices his eyes darken.
“You look so pretty like this, baby,” Spencer tells her. “You’re so pretty on your knees for me.” His hoarse voice goes straight down to her already soaked core.
When (Y/N) looks up at Spencer, she isn’t ready for the sight above her.
His hair has fallen into his face as he looks down at her and it moves very slightly as he rolls his hips. He tries to push it out of his face but it falls right back into place. His lips are still swollen. He looks at her like he is addicted to her.
He might be. She definitely is.
By her hair, Spencer pulls her off of his leaking dick. “As much as I want to come in that pretty mouth of yours,” he begins to say as he helps (Y/N) up to her feet. He pulls her against him and continues to talk in her ear. “I’d rather get you naked in my bed and fuck you until you can’t walk tomorrow.”
His words make her shiver with excitement and anticipation.
Spencer kicks his pants completely off before he grabs her hand and leads her out of the room. They completely abandon their clothes in the office as they walk down the hallway.
As soon as they pass the threshold into Spencer’s bedroom, his lips are on hers. His hands are back on her jaw and she’s reaching behind her to unclasp the bra. It falls to the floor before Spencer’s knees hit the bed and he sits on the mattress.
The kiss breaks when Spencer hits the mattress. He looks up at (Y/N) with eyes that have something different than lust in them. She doesn’t recognize the feeling in them.
She slides off the soaked panties before crawling onto his lap. She straddles his thighs and Spencer attaches himself to her neck. He kisses her neck and collarbone while she runs her fingers through his locks.
Honestly, her fingers are in Spencer’s hair so much, she’d be upset if he cut his hair. It gives her something to grab on to when he rails into her.
Spencer cups one of her breasts and flicks her nipple with his tongue. She shivers under his touch and rolls her hips against his. “Baby,” she breathes out. “What happened to wanting to fuck me?”
“In a second,” he mumbles against her skin. “Let me show you how beautiful you are.”
She can’t help but smile at the comment.
(Y/N) has told Spencer about all of the body image and self esteem issues that she’s had over the years since she had a baby. She told him about how she hates how much her weight fluctuates since she had Cassia and about how she’s hated how her body has looked since.
Now he makes it his mission to remind her how beautiful she is every time they fall into bed together or when they take a bath together. Every time he sees her naked, he tells her how beautiful she is. He always makes it a point to kiss all of the stretch marks across her stomach because she is always so insecure about them.
Spencer rolls them over and (Y/N) scoots closer to the pillows. He goes into his bedside table to retrieve a tiny package. She watches him rip the package open with his teeth and roll its contents onto himself.
Almost like he could hear what she was thinking about two seconds ago, Spencer leans down and presses soft kisses across her belly. She giggles and runs her fingers through his hair.
The kisses trail up her belly and between her breasts until he’s hovering on top of her. (Y/N)’s legs fall open so he can get comfortable between them. He lines himself up with her and meets her eyes. He doesn’t dare move. He hasn’t asked yet.
“You’re so beautiful, (Y/N),” he whispers. “So fucking beautiful. You know that?”
“I know,” she replies, voice soft. She reaches up and runs her thumb over his kiss-bruised lips. Spencer kisses the pad of her thumb. “You’re pretty too.”
Spencer laughs and leans down to kiss (Y/N) so softly that her heart flutters in her chest. It happens every time he kisses her like this.
She runs her thumbs over his cheekbones and pulls back from the kiss. He looks between her eyes and asks, “Can I?”
“Absolutely.”
He smiles and she looks down to watch him push into her. The sudden pressure causes her to gasp and close her eyes. It’s a familiar and welcomed pressure as he fills her.
“Spence,” she breathes out. “For the love of God. Move.”
A soft laugh comes from above her before he begins to slowly move his hips into her. A soft hum comes from (Y/N) as his movements speed up and he thrusts deeper into her.
The bed begins to freak beneath them as Spencer moves faster. The sounds coming from (Y/N) grow louder the deeper he moves into her. She bucks her hips up at the same time Spencer moves into her. She matches his speed.
Spencer’s hand holds (Y/N)’s waist, helping her. He leans down and presses his forehead to hers. The tips of their noses touch every time Spencer thrusts into her.
A knot forms at the bottom of her stomach. It threatens to come undone every time Spencer moves.
She opens her eyes and looks at Spencer above her. (Y/N) feels the world around her freeze and her heart skips a beat in her chest.
It’s cliché and she knows that, but it truly does feel like they are the only two people in the world at this very moment. All she can think about is Spencer and how she is falling in love with him a little more every second they spend together.
Spencer’s fingers on her clit end up bringing her back to reality. “Fuck,” she moans. “Fuck, Spencer.” She bites back louder moans.
“Don’t do that, baby,” Spencer breathes out. He pulls her bottom lip out of her mouth. “I want to hear you, pretty girl. I want to hear everything that comes out of that pretty mouth of yours.”
His words cause the knot in her stomach to tighten.
“Spencer,” she whines. “Please make me come. I’m so close. Please.” Her pleas sound like she’s begging him.
It sounds almost like a challenge, and that’s how he takes it.
He pulls almost completely out of her before he slams back into her. It only takes a few times before the knot comes undone and (Y/N) clenches then comes around Spencer’s dick. She cries out his name and sees stars. Her entire body goes limp as she hits her high.
Her climax hit her so hard that she loses touch with reality. She doesn’t feel Spencer come into the condom, pull out of her, or notice when he goes into the bathroom.
When she comes to, she’s still panting and Spencer is walking back into the bedroom. “Welcome back,” he says when he sees that she has come back to reality. “Thought I might’ve killed you for a second there.”
“Imagine that on my tombstone,” she replies. “Death by Spencer Reid’s dick.”
Spencer wipes away the layer of sweat that has covered her body and says, “It at least has to say ‘Dr. Spencer Reid.”
She lets out a breathy laugh and looks over at Spencer as he falls onto the bed beside her, the cloth discarded somewhere on the floor. They’ve both found their way under the blankets. She rolls over to she’s facing her boyfriend.
(Y/N) is quick to notice the little box in his hand. She raises her eyebrows at him. “I know we said that we were going to give gifts after Christmas but I didn’t want to wait any longer before I gave you this,” he tells her.
“What did you get me?”
She takes the box that’s being offered to her. She pulls it open and gasps at its contents.
Inside the box is a little silver necklace with an ‘S’ on the chain.
“Something to wear when you miss me,” he tells her as he brushes away a strand of hair that has fallen into her face. “Or when we don’t get to see each other for a few days.”
“It’s so pretty,” she replies as she pulls it out of the box. “Help me put it on?”
He nods and (Y/N) hands him the necklace. She sits up with the covers under her arms and gathers her hair into a ponytail so it’s easier for Spencer to get it around her neck.
She looks down and smiles as soon as it’s secured. She lightly touches the ‘S’ and lets her hair drop. Spencer pushes it to the side and presses a soft kiss to her shoulder.
“Like it?” he mumbles against her skin.
“Love it.” She turns and faces him. “Thank you.”
Spencer mirrors her smile and she leans down. She presses a soft kiss to Spencer’s lips before settling back down in his arms.
As she falls asleep, she makes note of two things she wants to talk to him about in the morning.
She wants to tell him that she wants to tell Cassia about them … and that she’s in love with him.
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
(Y/N) isn’t sure what wakes her up the next morning. It could be the sun that’s shining in through the window. It could be the smell of bacon. She doesn’t know.
She rolls out of bed and grabs one of Spencer’s shirts as well as a pair of his boxers. Tying her hair up into a messy bun on top of her head, she leaves the bedroom and follows the smell of cooking bacon.
In the kitchen is Spencer Reid. He has on plaid pajama pants and a loose fitting t-shirt. He whistles to himself as he cooks breakfast. (Y/N) sees the plate of pancakes beside him on the counter. The keurig is also making some coffee.
“Good morning,” (Y/N) says, her voice still slurred with sleep.
Spencer turns around and smiles. “You were supposed to be in bed,” he tells her as she walks up to him. “This was supposed to be breakfast in bed.”
She gets on her tiptoes to press a soft kiss to his lips. “I smelled bacon and I needed to come investigate,” she replies. “Sorry.”
“You’re forgiven because of how good you look in my clothes right now,” he says. “Glad to know you still like bacon.”
“Duh.”
(Y/N) sits at the kitchen island and looks at her phone.
Mateo sent her a picture of himself and Cassia in a matching pajama set. A second message sits under it that says ‘ hope you’re wearing more protection than we did ‘.
She shakes her head and tucks her phone away when Spencer brings over breakfast.
“This looks really good,” (Y/N) says as she helps herself to the pancakes and bacon. Spencer sits a cup of coffee down in front of her. “You’re my hero.”
“I know that coffee is really the only way to your heart.” He kisses the top of her head before sitting beside her.
Breakfast is quiet. She enjoys Spencer’s presence as she eats the perfectly cooked bacon and fluffy pancakes that he made for them.
The entire time, she’s nervous. She’s nervous about bringing up telling Cassia and she’s definitely nervous about telling him that she loves him. Hopefully it doesn’t show how nervous she is.
Not only does Spencer make breakfast, but he does the dishes too. He goes back to humming to himself as he cleans.
Now seems like a good time to bring something up.
"So, I've been thinking about something," (Y/N) cautiously says. He turns his head and looks at her at the kitchen island. "I don't like the fact that I have been sneaking around my daughter, especially since she knows you and likes you. I wanted to what you think about maybe telling her about our relationship."
Spencer turns the water off and uses a hand towel to dry his hands. "I didn't know you wanted to tell her," he replies. "Last time we talked about it, you weren't too keen on being with me and now you want to tell Cassia about us. What's changed?"
She shrugs and looks down at the countertop. "I mean, I feel like I'm lying to her," (Y/N) tells Spencer. "Yesterday she asked me what I do after I drop her off at her father's house and I lied. I don't want to keep doing that to her, especially since I've told her how bad lying is since she could understand what lying was. I feel like a hypocrite."
He walks over to (Y/N) and she spins around in the chair so she's facing him. "I don't know," he sighs, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. "I don't want her to think of me as anything but her teacher right now. It's only been a couple of months since we started seeing each other. It's still kind of new and I'm enjoying this little bubble that we have created for ourselves. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that bubble to burst just yet."
"If you don't want to tell her then that's fine," (Y/N) assures him as she wraps her arms around his waist. "I just wanted to get your thoughts on it."
"I don't want to tell her then."
That was a little too quick. "Wow, okay," she replies as she drops her arms. "I didn't think you felt that strongly about not telling Cassie."
"It's not that I don't want to tell her," Spencer explains with a sigh. "I just don't know if I'm ready to be someone's father."
(Y/N) sits back in her seat. "You're not her father, Spencer," she tells him. "She has a father. You're her teacher right now. If anything, you'll be more of a father figure and best friend to her if we were to tell her. She isn't going to call you 'dad' if that's what your worried about."
Spencer runs his fingers through his hair and sighs. "I'm not sure if I want to just butt into someone's family, (Y/N)," he admits. "Telling your daughter would make this almost permanent and it'll be that I'm butting into your family."
Okay, ouch.
"You don't think this his permanent?" (Y/N) questions. "Do you think this is a fling or something? Is that the reason you really don't want to tell my daughter? Do you not see yourself as a permanent part of our lives? Trust me when I tell you this, Spencer Reid. Cassia adores you. All these facts that you tell her and all of the lessons that you do with her, she commits those to memory because she enjoys being around you. You've already become a permanent part of her life. Sorry to break that to you."
"That's not what I'm saying-"
"That sounds exactly like what you're saying," she interrupts. "I want this to be permanent, Spencer. It's why I want to tell Cassia. You've already become such an important part of my life and an important part of my daughter's life in different ways. She gets off the chair and sighs. "If you don't want this to be a permanent thing, just tell me. Don't drag me along because you drag my daughter along too."
When Spencer doesn't say anything, (Y/N) grabs her jacket from his office and pulls it around herself before she walks out into the cool, Christmas Eve air without telling him that she loves him.
She isn't sure that she should love him anymore.

i'd find you every single day [ s. reid ]
Tumblr media
pairing : spencer reid x fem!bau!reader
summary / prompt : it’s been six weeks since the BAU found her, but (Y/N) still has nightmares from the five weeks she was held captive by her ex-boyfriend … yet Spencer is right there to help her through it even though she doesn’t want him to see her like this
requested : no
genre : angst (w the tiniest bit of fluff)
warnings : mentions of kidnapping / assault / torture, flashbacks that include abuse and torture, talks of nightmares, just a generally heavy fic
【 heavy content below - read at your own risk ! 】
She thought it was over.
The moment Aaron Hotchner yelled “FBI” and she was back in the arms of the man that truly loved her, she thought it was all over.
The beatings, the torture, the countless nights of no sleep she suffered at the hands of the guy she once trusted and loved. She thought that those days and nights were done and over with.
Yet, she lies wide awake again for what seems like the sixth time in the past seven nights. Her entire body is shaking from the nightmare that woke her up. Tears wet her cheeks. Her eyes are on the phone that sits on her bedside table.
Spencer told her to call him if she needed him. She did need him, but she always felt so bad when she calls in the middle of the night.
2:39 stares (Y/N) in the face when she picks up the device. With shaky fingers, she pulls up Spencer’s contact information. She sighs and presses the ‘call’ button.
It rings once, twice, three times before someone picks up the phone. She bites her lip, holding back tears.
“(Y/N)?” Spencer’s groggy voice asks. “What’s going on? Are you okay?”
She wants to tell him everything. She wants to tell him about the nightmares and the fact that most nights, she relives what he did to her.
She begged him to stop. Pleaded with him. Her wrists were bound to the arms of the chair with rope, the skin was raw where the ropes cut into it.
She was so tired from all the crying and screaming. She was so weak from all the torture and blood loss.
“Please,” she cried as soon as she saw the knife in his hand. “Please don’t hurt me. I can’t do it anymore. Please!”
“Too late.”
There was a sharp pain that dragged across her arm. She screamed until she couldn’t anymore, but it wasn’t enough. No one came for her. No one was coming for her because they didn’t know where she was.
“(Y/N).” Spencer sounded more awake when he said her name. “Do you need me?”
At the last second, she says, “No. I’m sorry for calling and waking you up. I’m fine. Goodnight.”
Before he can get in another word, (Y/N) hangs up the phone. She puts it back down on the table before she curls up around a pillow. She buries her face into the pillow and the fabric of the pillowcase soaks up her tears.
A choked sob comes from her throat, followed by another, and another. Frustration and anger begin to boil.
How could he do this to her? He claimed to love her yet he caused her so much physical pain and suffering those five weeks. He has ruined her life.
(Y/N) hasn’t passed the psychological exam she needs to pass before she could return to work at the BAU. All she has been doing the past six weeks is sitting around her apartment with nothing but her thoughts.
She hasn’t even been able to sleep because all she sees as soon as she closes her eyes is the knife he cut her with and his eyes while he did it.
His eyes. That’s the thing she really remembers.
His bright blue eyes darkened every time he put the knife to her skin. It was like causing her physical pain made him happy and turned him on.
A knock brings (Y/N) out of her head and back to reality. She waits and listens to see if it was something her mind had made up. A second knock causes her to get out of bed.
She is surprised to see Spencer standing outside her door when she looks through the peephole. She unlocks all four locks on her door and swings it open. A pajama-clad Spencer Reid stands on the other side in his plaid pants and Caltech hoodie.
“I said I was fine, Spencer,” she spits at him, her voice hoarse. "Go home. "I don't need you here. You have work in the morning so go back to sleep. Sorry for worrying you."
Spencer frowns and takes a step toward her. She backs up a step. "Don't lie to me, (Y/N)," he tells her when he realizes that he isn't going to be able to touch her. "I know you, and even if I didn't, I'd still know that you have been crying. You're not okay, so here I am."
"I'm fine," she tries again. This time her voice is shaky and her bottom lip wobbles. She doesn't want him to see her cry again. Not over this. "Seriously. I'm okay. I just couldn't shut my brain off long enough to get any sleep. I swear I'm okay."
His face softens and immediately she cracks. He didn't even say anything and she's crying.
"Hey," Spencer softly says. He steps forward and envelopes (Y/N) in his arms. He puts his hands in her hair and softly messages it because he knows it calms her. "You don't have to talk about it right now but if you need to talk about it, then I'm here. I'm not going anywhere, okay? I don't care if you tell me you're fine or that you're okay. I'm staying right here."
She nods into the crook of his neck. His hoodie soaks up the tears that are rolling down her cheeks. Spencer reaches behind him and shuts the door. She grips the fabric of his hoodie at his waist and pulls him against her.
This is the only place she has truly felt safe in the past six weeks. The arms of the man she loves have been the safest place for her. They're warm and inviting, and it feels like they're the only two people in the world. She can forget everything that happened a month and a half ago when she's in Spencer's arms.
She closes her eyes as Spencer rocks her side-to-side.
(Y/N)'s head hurt. She didn't know what he did to her. All she felt was blood dripping down her face and blinding her. She tried blinking it away, but it only seemed to make it worse.
"Look at you, gorgeous," he said, one of his fingers running through her blood-soaked hair. "So beautiful."
"Please," she gasped. Her voice was so weak. "Please just let me go. I won't tell anyone. I promise if you just let me go."
He knelt down beside the wooden chair that she had been in for three weeks. He smiled at her. "No can do, my love," he told her. "It's too late. You work for the FBI. They'll come for me. When I'm done with you, I'll have to kill you."
"He was going to kill me," (Y/N) cries to Spencer. "I didn't know how much longer I had left. I did everything he wanted me to do so you had enough time to find me."
Spencer pulls back a bit and cups her face in his hands. Blood was no longer blinding her. She could clearly see how sad he was. "We found you and you're safe now, baby," he tells her. His thumbs wipe away the tears rolling down her cheeks. "I'd find you every single day and I'll make sure you're safe for the rest of our lives."
A pout forms on her face as tries tries to stop crying. "I don't deserve you," she mumbles. "I don't-"
"You deserve everything good in the world, (Y/N)," Spencer interrupts her. "I don't care what he told you while he had you. They were all lies. I'm telling you the truth. You deserve everything good, you deserve all the love you get from me and the team. I love you, and I'll keep proving that to you until you believe me."
"You deserve nothing for breaking my heart," he snarled at her. She felt his fist come across her cheek again. She cried out in pain.
"That pretty boy you got for a boyfriend, he doesn't love you. He would've found you by now if he did. He doesn't love you. Your team doesn't care for you. It's been a month. You mean nothing to them, you hear me?"
There was another fist that came down across her face ... and another ... and another until everything went black and she could no longer beg for him to let her go.
"Come on," Spencer says. "Let's go lay down. Maybe you'll get some sleep.
Doubtful, but she doesn't say it out loud.
He leads her down the hall to her bedroom. He helps her under the covers before he curls up around her, almost like he wants to keep her safe from everything.
(Y/N) meets Spencer's eyes as they intertwine their legs together under the blankets. She buries her face into his neck and sighs. He smells like his body wash so he must've taken a shower recently.
Spencer wraps his arms around her shoulders and just holds her. His fingers run through her hair.
"I love you too, by the way," she whispers after a few moments of silence. "Thank you for finding me."
"I'll always find you."
He had been gone for a while. Nearly two days without food and water. (Y/N) grew weaker. She could barely hold her head up. She didn't know how much longer she could stay awake.
She had to. She had to stay awake. Falling asleep wasn't an option.
There was a boom above her and what sounded like footsteps seconds later.
"Help," she croaked. No one would be able to hear her. Not with how weak her voice was. "Help me."
A door opened and light flooded the room. "FBI!" a very familiar voice called out. "Don't move."
"(Y/N), baby," another voice said, panic laced in his voice.
With the last of her strength, she was able to lift her head up. She let out a sob when she realized that it was Spencer Reid and the BAU who stood in front of her.
It wasn't her captor.
"Spencer." Her voice came out as a whisper.
"I got you. You're okay," he said, breathless. Her head fell and her eyes drooped. Spencer caught her head and lifted it so she could look at him. "Baby, stay awake for me, okay? There's an ambulance outside but you need to stay awake."
The last thing she heard before she fell unconscious was "I love you. I'm sorry it took us so long."

She is so late to back to school night.
This was in her calendar for the past two weeks and she managed to still be late. Her 8-year-old daughter Cassia is too preoccupied with her tablet in the back to notice just how late the two of them actually are.
Back to school night started at 7. It’s thirty minutes past the start time. (Y/N) has probably missed most of the parent meeting already. If it weren't for how excited Cassia was for her mother to finally meet her teacher, she would have happily stayed home and watched a Disney movie with her daughter.
Cassia’s father usually does drop off because the school is on the way to his work so (Y/N) has never met her daughter’s third grade teacher. Until tonight.
Being late is such a good first impression.
As soon as she finds a parking spot and turns the car engine off, (Y/N) quickly gathers her things and Cassia before rushing inside.
“Cassie, which way to your classroom?” she asks her daughter. Cassia points down a hallway so she grabs her hand and heads down.
When (Y/N) and Cassia walk inside, they are greeted by dozens of eyes. The man who is leaning over one of the desks and is pointing something out looks up at them.
Cassia lets go of her mother’s hand and runs over to the man, who (Y/N) notices is dressed in a button-up and tie with dress pants. His hair is on the longer side but he still looks handsome.
“Doctor Reid!” Cassia exclaims as she throws herself at him and gives him a hug. “Look who came with me today.”
The man — Dr. Reid — smiles at Cassia before looking up at (Y/N). “That cannot be your mother, Cassie,” he says. His hazel eyes meet hers and she feels a warm sensation spread throughout her body.
A sensation she hasn’t felt since having Cassia.
“It is!” an excited Cassia replies. “That’s my mom.”
Dr. Reid tells Cassia that her classmates are down the hall with the snacks. She runs out of the room and Dr. Reid looks up at (Y/N).
Immediately, she begins to apologize when Dr. Reid turns to face her. “I am so sorry that I’m late,” she says. “I lost track of time when Cass asked me when we were leaving for back-to-school night and I just-”
“You can relax, Miss (L/N),” Dr. Reid laughs. “No need to ramble. I understand very well how easy it is to lose track of time. I can give you a quick rundown of how the classroom works as soon as I'm done with the presentation.”
A sigh of relief passes her lips. “Thank you, Doctor Reid,” she replies.
“First of all, you can call me Spencer,” he replies. She smiles. “I’d also like to say that your daughter is one of my most energized and enthusiastic students. She is always participating in lessons and offering to help others. I love to see that kind of participation in the classroom.”
(Y/N) nods. “Cassia loves to learn,” she tells Spencer. “When her father drops her off after school, she always tells me about the things that she did that day and the facts that you tell her. I think you have actually made her want to learn even more than she already did.”
Spencer laughs and looks down at his feet like he’s shy about compliments. “I know too much and sometimes I tell my students,” he replies with a small smile on his lips. “Especially if it relates to the lesson. I have an eidetic memory and I’m always reading so I remember a lot of stupid facts.”
“That’s kind of cool,” (Y/N) says. “I mean, I’d love to know all these little random facts.”
A light blush coats Spencer’s cheeks. “Um, I actually have to get back to presenting but I’d still love to give you that rundown I promised you after.”
She nods and finds Cassia’s desk. She sits down and watches Spencer get back to presenting.
(Y/N)’s eyes don’t leave Spencer the entire time he is in front of the classroom. He looks professional while also having a goofy vibe, but he sounds like he knows what he’s talking about. He seems pretty confident while standing in front of his students' parents.
Not to mention, he is very handsome. She has never met a nerdy guy who's also as attractive as Spencer is.
When she finds out about his three PhDs and two BAs, he immediately becomes twice as attractive. Intelligence is attractive to her, and Spencer is certainly intelligent.
By 24, he had five degrees and now he’s teaching at an elementary school. (Y/N) is 24 now and she’s a single mother working at a hospital as a part-time nurse with one degree in nursing and struggling to make ends meet.
Parents clap when Spencer is done with his presentation. He takes a couple of questions before the principal comes over the loudspeaker to say that there are snacks and drinks in the cafeteria for those who are interested, need to ask more questions, or just want to hang around and mingle.
Everyone in the room leaves and goes down to the cafeteria while (Y/N) stays behind so she can talk to Spencer a little more to get a sense of how his class will be run.
“That was a nice presentation, from the ten minutes I actually saw,” she teases.
Spencer smiles and closes his laptop. “Well, walk with me to the cafeteria and we can chat,” he tells her. “I’m sure Cassia would love to hang out for a bit while I tell you all about the class.”
"Absolutely she would," she replies.
(Y/N) stays behind and watches Spencer pack his laptop away in his bag. He stuffs some folders inside as well before motioning for her to head to the door so he can lock up the room.
As they begin the trek to the cafeteria, Spencer says, "I don't mean to sound rude or intrude, but you seem really young to have a daughter in the third grade."
"I had Cassia when I was 16," she tells Spencer. "I got pregnant after I got drunk and hooked up with a football player after a game. I'm 24 now and I have full custody of her because her father and I are no longer together, but I let her father bring her to and from school while also spending a few days a week with her."
Spencer looks shocked at (Y/N)'s confession. It's not really a confession at this point. She tells that story to anyone who asks. She's grown so used to saying that she had a baby at 16 that it doesn't even faze her anymore.
"Well, I give you props on raising such a wonderful daughter as a single mother," Spencer replies. "I can't even begin to imagine."
"It took a lot out of me at first but we fell into a routine after the custody battle," (Y/N) explains as they walk into the cafeteria. She spots her daughter playing with some of her classmates and she smiles. "If I could do it all over again, I would. I don't regret having a baby in high school at all."
One of the other parents grabs Spencer's attention and he apologetically walks away with a promise to come back so they can continue their conversation.
(Y/N)'s eyes don't leave Spencer as he walks away with the parent who approached him. He pushes his hair behind his ear and flattens the tie as he nods. His side profile is one of the prettiest that (Y/N) has ever seen.
“Mom, you’re staring,” Cassia’s little voice says to pull her out of her head.
Her cheeks heat up and she shakes her head. “I wasn’t staring.”
“Yes you were! I saw you staring at my teacher,” Cassia tells her mother. A little gasp comes from her. “Aw, do you like like Doctor Reid?”
“Cassia,” (Y/N) sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. “It’s very inappropriate for me to ‘like’ your teacher. I am your mother, and he is your teacher..”
Cassia rolls her eyes. “All I did was ask a question,” she says. “I didn’t need a lecture.” (Y/N) looks up and sees Spencer walking over. “Oh. I wanted to ask if I could stay at Brynn’s house tonight. Her mom said it’s okay.”
“It’s a school night.”
“Brynn literally is in my class, mom,” Cassia replies. “I want to stay. Please? I promise we won’t stay up late.”
Honestly, a night to herself doesn’t sound like a bad idea. A glass of wine and Law & Order sounds like a good night.
“There are studies that show that sleepovers can help independence in children,” Spencer says. “Sorry, I couldn’t help but overhear the question.”
Cassia points at Spencer to prove a point. (Y/N) just shakes her head and smiles. “Fine,” she tells Cassia. “I want you home right after school tomorrow.”
She celebrates and runs off. (Y/N) laughs and looks up at Spencer. “Well now that your night is free, mind if I take you out for a late dinner and that rundown I had promised you? If you haven’t eaten, of course.”
(Y/N) is caught off guard by the question. “I, um …” she trails off. “Do you think that’s a good idea? I mean, you’re my daughter’s teacher. I don’t want her to be accused of favoritism because her mother went to dinner with her teacher.”
“Well, I promise you that I will keep treating Cassia the same way I treat her peers,” Spencer assures (Y/N). “What do you say?”
There’s a little smile on Spencer’s face. That and the confidence he had to ask is the whole reason she says, “Okay, as long as you promise to keep treating Cassia as an equal to her classmates.”
Spencer nods and smiles. “Meet you at Fiola after you drop off Cassia at her friend’s house? My treat,” he says.
(Y/N) mirrors his smile and nods. “Give me a half hour and I’ll meet you there,” she replies. “I just need to get Cassia to Brynn’s and I’ll head over.”
“Mom!” Cassia calls. “Hurry up! Brynn’s mom said she is leaving soon.”
“So, um, see you in half an hour?” she asks. Spencer nods and (Y/N) quickly runs off to her daughter.
There’s a warm feeling in the pit of (Y/N)’s stomach as she and Cassia get in the car. There is a feeling of nervousness as she drives to her apartment that she has and lives in with Cassia.
It’s not a date, but she is nervous like it is. Who knows? Maybe this will turn into something more. Something that (Y/N) has never had before.
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
It’s a little after eight when (Y/N) drops Cassia off at her friend’s. She snuck a dress into the car with her so she quickly stops at a convenience store to change on her way to the restaurant.
All she knows about Fiola is that it’s a very upscale restaurant that she could never afford to eat at. She couldn’t show up in a t-shirt and jeans. Even Spencer was dressed nicer than she was.
A little before 8:30 and (Y/N) is walking into the restaurant. The hostess greets her with a smile and asks, “How can I help you today?”
“I’m looking for someone who should’ve been here by now,” she stammers. “Um, the name is Spencer Reid.”
The hostess checks something in front of her and nods with some kind of confirmation. “Right this way, miss,” she says.
She turns and walks into the dining room, weaving between tables. (Y/N) sighs and is brought to the table for two that Spencer is sitting at. “Let me know if you need anything,” the hostess tells (Y/N) when she sits down across from Spencer.
As soon as the hostess walks away, (Y/N)’s eyes turn to Spencer. “Uh, wow,” he blurts out. “I didn’t think you would change for dinner.”
“Felt a little underdressed,” she replies. “Especially for here. I changed quickly after I dropped Cassia off. No biggie.”
Spencer laughs in reply.
Their waiter comes over to take (Y/N)’s order since Spencer had already ordered before she got there. He thanks them both, takes her menu, and walks away to put the orders in.
“So,” (Y/N) sighs. “Do you do this for all the parents who are late to back to school night?”
Spencer smiles behind his glass of water and shakes his head. “Only the pretty ones,” he replies. (Y/N)’s cheeks heat up as she sips her wine. “So, the class will be run similarly to how other classes are run. The day starts at eight, sitting down fifteen minutes for the first lesson. We study English, math, social studies, and science every day spending roughly 90 minutes on each subject. Art is on Mondays around ten, gym is on Thursdays at one, music is on Fridays at ten, and this year we’re starting a technology class that will be on Tuesdays. I’m thinking Wednesdays will be a third grade only thing where the students can ask me questions about whatever they want to know and I’ll answer it the best way that I can. I might call it ‘Dr. Reid Responds’ or something along those lines.”
“That’s such a nice concept,” (Y/N) says when Spencer is done talking. “I meant it earlier when I said that Cass comes home everyday and tells me the facts you tell them through the day. She loves it and already adores you.”
He lets out a light chuckle. “Well I adore Cassia,” he says. “I mean it. We’re only three weeks into the year but she is easily my best student. She is so interested in the material. She reminds me of me when I was her age.”
“She’s a special little girl,” (Y/N) responds after she swallows a sip of wine. “She’s so enthusiastic about everything. Including school.”
Spencer nods in agreement.
There’s a quick moment of silence between the two of them, but it’s not awkward. It’s a comfortable silence. She just looks across the table at Spencer and takes him in while she swirls the wine around in her glass.
He really is handsome. His longer brown hair frames his face perfectly. His hazel eyes almost match the color of his hair. He has high cheekbones and (Y/N) remembers the jawline she saw earlier that day.
“Um, Cassia said you were a nurse,” Spencer says. “Where are you a nurse?”
“Sibley Memorial,” she replies. “I work part-time in the emergency department but I’m trying to get a full-time position.”
“That’s incredible. You save lives all the time.”
(Y/N) chuckles and takes a sip of her drink hoping that it keeps her cheeks from beating up. “I try my best to,” she replies. “I save some, I lose some. It comes with the job. I knew that going in.”
Their meals come shortly after. The pasta dishes that they both ordered look incredible. After one bite, (Y/N) wishes she could take it to Vegas to marry it.
It’s quiet between the two of them while they enjoy the food. (Y/N) loves it and finds herself wishing that she could bring Cassia here.
Maybe one day when she makes enough money to buy a dinner like this for the two of them without costing them a week or groceries or utilities.
“So, Mr. Eidetic Memory,” (Y/N) begins as soon as she is done eating. “You probably could have chosen any career in the world. Why did you choose teaching when you could’ve been working for the FBI or something?”
Spencer laughs and wipes his face free of sauce. “I wanted to make a difference in the lives of those around me,” he replies. “I want to leave a lasting impact on my students. I, um, used to work for the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit but the job became too much, so I turned to teaching. I love kids so I decided to teacher a younger class.”
“That’s really nice, Spencer,” she says when he’s done talking. “I mean, I wanted to be a nurse to help people and you’re teaching for that same reason. Even when you worked for the FBI. You saved lives too.”
“Not enough.” There’s a hint of sadness in his voice when he says those two words. It breaks (Y/N)’s heart.
Before she realizes what she’s doing, (Y/N) reaches across the table and puts her hands on top of Spencer’s. He looks at their hands before his eyes flicker up to meet hers. (Y/N)’s heart beats out of her chest when their eyes meet, the butterflies return to the pit of her stomach.
There is some sadness behind Spencer’s eyes, but there is something else that she can’t quite describe or explain.
The waiter decides now to come up and give them the check. Spencer snatches it before she can look at it. He gives his card immediately to the waiter. She smiles and sits back in her chair. “You’re ridiculous,” she tells him.
“That’s not nice to say to someone who just paid for your dinner, Miss (L/N),” Spencer playfully retorts.
“(Y/N),” she replies. “My name is (Y/N). If I can call you Spencer, then you can call me (Y/N).”
Spencer smiles as the waiter comes back. “(Y/N).”
The way Spencer says her name makes her shiver.
He signs the check and they head outside to the parking lot. (Y/N) looks over at Spencer as they walk. He’s nearly a head taller than she is, and she put on heels.
Spencer walks her all the way to her car. “I just wanted to make sure you got to your car okay before I head to the metro,” he tells her.
“You took the metro?” she asks. “Oh my God. Get in my car, Spencer. I’ll take you home.” She pauses. “Unless you want to come back to my apartment. We can have a drink or two and continue to talk.” He hesitates and (Y/N) smiles. “I’m not going to kidnap you. I know you worked for the FBI and saw things like this but I promise I’m not going to kidnap my daughter’s favorite teacher.”
He laughs, “Okay. A drink or two then I’ll Uber back to my own apartment.”
She gets in the driver’s seat of her car and Spencer gets in beside her. She starts it up and buckles her seatbelt before beginning the drive home.
The entire car ride, (Y/N) is very aware of the man that is sitting next to her. She’s aware of every move he makes, every time he grabs the “oh, shit” handle when she breaks a little too hard at red lights, and every time he thinks he sneaks a glance at her. At one point, his eyes look her up and down. She accidentally stepped on the break a little too hard because she was slightly distracted.
Twenty minutes pass before (Y/N) pulls into her usual parking spot outside of her building. She sighs and turns the car off before she looks at Spencer. “See? I got you here in one piece and I didn’t put a blindfold over your eyes,” she teases.
Spencer just smiles and gets out of the car. She follows suit, locking the vehicle behind her as she and Spencer walk into the building.
She uses her building key to get inside then climbs a flight of stairs.
As she’s unlocking the door to her apartment, she realizes that the apartment is a mess. She hasn’t cleaned in nearly a week because her schedule and Cassia’s schedule.
“Um, I’m sorry about the mess,” she says as she opens the door. “I haven’t really had the time to clean, if I’m being honest.”
“I get it,” Spencer laughs. “Trust me. I’m glad we came here and didn’t go to my apartment. It’s a complete disaster.”
(Y/N) smiles as she shuts the door behind Spencer. “I can go get us drinks while you go sit,” she offers. “What can I get for you?”
“Whatever you’re having.”
She nods and walks into the kitchen. She hears the couch squeak behind her and she smiles to herself.
An attractive man is in her apartment and isn’t judging her for the mess that is her apartment. It’s been years since she went on a proper date — even though dinner with Spencer was not a date — and invited someone back to her apartment. It feels kind of nice to have another adult in her home instead of a crazy child.
She pours both of them a glass of wine before joining Spencer on the couch. She kicks off her heels and they fall to the carpeted floor with a soft thud before she curls up and tucks her feet under her.
“You know, I should’ve asked this before agreeing to go to dinner,” she begins to say. “You aren’t in any kind of relationship, right? No girlfriend, no Mrs. Reid?”
Spencer laughs and shakes his head. “No, I’m not in a relationship and I’m not married,” he replies. “I might be 32 but I’ve only had a handful of relationships and I have never been married. I don’t think I’ve ever really settled down with anyone for a long period of time. I haven’t really had a lot of time to date, especially when I worked at the BAU. I didn't really want to put someone in danger either. I've seen what that did to my co-workers."
“Yeah, that makes sense.”
“I guess you aren’t in a relationship either,” he points out after he sips his wine. “I mean, you invited me back to your apartment. I think that’s a sign that there is no one in your life.”
(Y/N) chuckles to herself and shakes her head. “I am a very single mother,” she tells him.
“Good to know.” He sends a wink in her direction.
They settle into small talk, asking each other how the week is going. Spencer talks about his students and how they’re enjoying what he’s teaching them. She can tell by the way he talks about the kids that he truly loves what he does.
(Y/N) even tells Spencer about her ER stories from the week. Some of them are more gruesome than others but she enjoys her job, more on the days when no one dies in her care.
He asks about Cassia, which throws (Y/N) off a lot. No one has ever been this interested in her daughter. She doesn’t even tell most guys she goes out with about her daughter until a few dates in — again this isn’t a date though.
Spencer knows Cassia though, and he’s getting to know her mother now too. It warms her heart that he is asking about Cassia. Her daughter is her first love. Anyone else comes after her.
Three glasses of wine later, Spencer realizes what time it is. It’s nearly midnight.
“I should probably get going,” he sighs. “Take the train back to my apartment.”
(Y/N) chews on her lower lip for a second, contemplating. “I mean, you could just … stay?” she suggests. “It’s pretty late. By the time you get home, it will probably be close to one in the morning. You’ll only get a few hours of sleep. More hours of sleep if you just … stay here.”
She sees the gears turning behind Spencer’s eyes. He is definitely thinking about it.
“If you’re okay with it.”
“I’m more than okay with it, Spencer.” Her voice almost comes out as a whisper.
Spencer’s eyes almost darken. (Y/N)’s heart is beating so quickly in her chest, especially when he moves a bit closer to her. His thumb drags across her jaw. Goosebumps break out across her body when he touches her.
She should back away before any lines are crossed. This is Cassia's teacher. (Y/N) isn't sure if the line should be crossed because of that.
“Tell me I’m not reading this wrong,” he softly says, eyes flickering down to (Y/N)’s lips for a split second.
Immediately, (Y/N) shakes her head. "You're not reading this wrong," she tells him. "I'm just unsure if we should do this. I mean, you're my daughter's teacher, Spencer. I'm also almost ten years younger than you too."
Spencer doesn't move away. "If you're uncomfortable then tell me," he says. "If you don't want me to kiss you then tell me because I'm going to kiss you if you don't."
Their noses touch and (Y/N) lets out a soft sigh, her eyes fluttering shut.
It's such a bad idea, but she's starting to not care. She's a grown adult. Spencer is a grown adult. They're both consenting adults.
"Kiss me," (Y/N) whispers. "Please, Spencer."
With zero hesitation, Spencer closes the space between them and captures her lips with his. They sit with their lips connected for a few seconds before (Y/N) reciprocates the kiss. Spencer leans into her, which deepens the kiss.
It's such a soft yet deep kiss that it nearly takes the breath out of her lungs. Especially after one of Spencer's hands slides into her hair and his fingers curl into her locks. It holds her in place, not that she's planning on going anywhere. She's not.
(Y/N) throws one of her legs over Spencer's knee and moves even closer. She wraps her hand around Spencer's wrist so he doesn't take his hand out of her hair.
Spencer's free hand rests on her knee, slowly sliding up her thigh until his fingers are under the soft fabric of her black dress, tracing the outline of her panties. He grips her thigh under the dress and (Y/N) sighs against Spencer's lips.
When Spencer moves his hand higher, (Y/N) throws her leg over his lap and straddles his thighs. Her hands cup Spencer's jaw while her fingers play with the ends of Spencer's hair.
She feels Spencer's hand move higher and rest on her butt. She begins to untie the tie around his neck without breaking the kiss.
She starts to get frustrated because she can’t see what she’s doing. With a groan, she pulls back and Spencer laughs. “Relax, (Y/N),” he tells her as he puts his hands over hers. “I’m not going anywhere.” He unties his tie for her and drops it on the couch beside them.
(Y/N) meets his eyes and relaxes her body. She smiles at him as his hands come up to cup her cheeks. “God, I haven’t done this in a long time,” she breathes out as she looks back down at her hands on his chest. “I’m sorry.”
“Hey, you’re doing fine,” Spencer assures her, dipping his head down and meeting her eyes. He smiles as if to reassure her. “Seriously.”
“Then can we move this to the bedroom,” she suggests. “The couch isn’t very comfortable if I’m being honest. It’s a very cheap and kind of lumpy. Not fun to lay on.”
Spencer smiles and nods. “If you want to get me in your bed, just tell me,” he teases.
(Y/N) gets up off of his lap and begins to walk down the hallway. "Let's go then."
She reaches behind her and unzips the dress as she walks. Footsteps sound behind her as the fabric hits the floor with a soft thud. She turns into her bedroom, which is a lot cleaner than the living room.
Not three steps into her bedroom, a pair of arms wraps around her waist. She’s pulled backward and crashes into something solid. (Y/N) giggles and looks up at Spencer. "You're gorgeous, (Y/N)," he mumbles into her ear. His lips brush against her ear and she shivers.
He moves her hair off of her shoulder and begins to kiss her neck. She tilts her head to the side and lets out a soft sigh. "You are too, Spencer."
She turns in his arms and looks up at him. He tucks her hair behind her ear and pulls her into another kiss. Her fingers begin working on unbuttoning his shirt because he's wearing too many clothes for her liking. Especially since she's standing in front of him in nothing but a bra and panties.
As soon as his shirt is unbuttoned, Spencer untucks it from the waistband of his pants and lets it drop to the floor. His fingers reach behind her and he unclasps her bra and she lets it join Spencer's shirt on the ground.
He tugs (Y/N) impossibly closer to him, their chests pressed against each other. They literally can not get any closer to each other unless she crawls into him.
Without breaking the kiss, he picks (Y/N) up and walks toward her bed. She wraps her legs around his waist until he lays her down on the mattress.
Spencer hovers above her and her legs fall open so he can get comfortable between them. He kicks his shoes and toes his socks off while they both move backward in the mattress. (Y/N)'s fingers slide into his hair and hold his warm brown locks out of his face.
He grinds his bulge against (Y/N)'s clothed core. She lets out a soft moan against his lips. Spencer snakes a hand between them and slides his fingers into her panties. She whines while his fingers run through her dripping folds. He takes advantage of the distraction and pushes his tongue into her mouth.
"Spencer," she whines. He breaks the kiss when she says his name,
"This okay?"
"Yes," she replies. "Do something." She moves her hips so his fingers line up with her entrance. "Please."
Spencer pushes one finger into her. He curls it slightly as he pumps in and out of her. Soft sighs pass her slightly parted lips. Her eyes are on Spencer. His hair is wild from having her fingers in it, his lips are red and swollen from the kisses that they have exchanged over the past few minutes.
A second and third finger is soon added and (Y/N) withers under his touch. "Fuck," she gasps when he curls all three of his fingers. "Spencer."
"Let me hear you, baby," Spencer tells her as he kisses down her body. He makes a quick pit stop at your breasts, swirling his tongue around one of your nipples. Her back arches off the mattress with a moan. "That's it."
He continues his journey down her body. Spencer hooks his fingers into the waistband of her panties and pulls them off of her body. He kisses the inside of her thighs before he wraps his lips around her clit. He sucks gently and (Y/N)'s fingers grip Spencer's hair. She looks down and meets his eyes.
"Oh my God," she groans as she throws her head back against the pillow. "Spencer. Fuck."
She doesn't mean to pull on Spencer's hair, but the reaction she gets out of him makes her want to do it again. He hums around her and it makes her entire body shake. She has to bite down on her lower lip so she literally doesn't scream Spencer's name. The last thing she needs is for her neighbors to hear her having what's probably the best sex of her life.
Spencer curls his fingers inside of her and she lets out a borderline pornographic moan, coming without warning around Spencer's fingers. (Y/N)'s breathing is labored as he fingers her through her high.
Her entire body melts and becomes one with the mattress when he withdraws his fingers and she begins to come back to reality. She is quick to notice that her legs are still shaking.
"Shit," she chuckles as Spencer sits back on his knees and licks his lips. That simple motion shouldn't be as hot as it is, but she knows what he's licking off of his lips.
Something comes over (Y/N). She doesn't know if it's confidence or what but she pulls Spencer back down to the mattress. She flips them over and sits on Spencer's waist. She doesn't even know how she managed to do that considering she was just shaking from her orgasm not five minutes ago.
She leans down and presses soft kisses to Spencer's jaw and cheek. "My turn to make you feel good," she whispers when she gets close to his ear. "You lay there and look pretty."
(Y/N) swears she feels Spencer shiver beneath her. With a small smile, she begins to kiss down his neck and chest. Her fingers begin to work at the belt around his waist. The metal clangs while she works on getting the belt undone. She shoves her hand down his pants when the belt and button get undone.
Spencer groans when (Y/N)'s hand wraps around his erect dick. She gives him a few strokes in his pants before she pulls both his pants and boxers down his legs. They join her underwear on the ground next to the bed while she settles between his legs.
He's a little bigger than average, but not too thick. It's still a little intimidating.
She wipes away the bit of pre-come that has collected at the tip of his dick with her thumb. "(Y/N)," Spencer warns. "Don't tease. It's not nice."
(Y/N) smiles and wraps her lips around the bright red tip. Her tongue swirls around the top for a second before she lowers her mouth onto him.
She uses one hand to make up for what she can't fit in her mouth and uses the other to touch herself because the sounds that are coming from Spencer are too much and she needs some relief. She imagines that it's his fingers that are bringing her close to the edge.
Soft groans come from Spencer as she occasionally hollows out her cheeks and sucks.
He begins thrusting up into her mouth. She stops moving and lets him use her mouth. "God, look at you, (Y/N)," Spencer sighs. "Letting me use that pretty mouth of yours."
His words shoot straight to the knot in (Y/N)'s stomach that already threatens to come undone again. He's careful not to choke her with his dick as he fucks her mouth.
Before she comes again, she pulls off Spencer with a soft pop. He raises his eyebrows at her as she moves over to her bedside table. She opens the drawer and pulls out a little foil package. She tosses it at Spencer.
"I want you to fuck me," she tells him. "And as much as I love my daughter, I'm not ready for another one so put that on and fuck me."
Spencer doesn't need to be told twice. He rips open the little package with his teeth while (Y/N) lays down in front of him. Her legs fall open and as soon as the condom is on, Spencer falls on top of her.
"This is something you want?" he asks. "I just want to make sure that you won't have any regrets about it."
She leans up and captures Spencer's lips in a soft kiss. He brackets her head with his arms as she pulls him down so she can lay her head on the pillow. "I want you, Spencer Reid," she mumbles between kisses. "All of you. Please."
In the very short amount of time that she has known Spencer, she already feels very connected to him. Between the way they bonded over why they're in the fields they're in and the fact that they both have some kind of love for Cassia, (Y/N) can see herself with him. He could be the father figure that Cassia doesn't really have in her life.
He's been so careful the entire time he's been over. He's been taking care of (Y/N) the whole time, making sure she's okay before making a move. It warms her heart.
Spencer lining himself up with her entrance causes (Y/N) to come back to reality. She breaks the kiss and stares up at Spencer. There is a fire behind those honey-colored eyes of his. A fire that excites her.
She uses her fingers to push back Spencer's hair so she can see his face as he pushes himself into her since she gave him permission. She gasps as he slowly fills her up. He moves slowly, giving her time to adjust to his size.
Her eyes never leave his. (Y/N) notices his pupils blow up as he sinks further into her. She wraps her legs around her and digs her heels into the back of his thighs, which forces Spencer to completely fill her.
"Let me know when I can move," he softly says as he brushes a piece of her hair out of her face. " I don't want to hurt you, baby."
(Y/N)'s thumbs softly run over his cheekbones. Her heart flutters at the pet name. She nods after a moment of silence.
Spencer slowly begins to thrust his hips into her. (Y/N) lets out soft whines as he moves. Her fingers curl in Spencer's hair and he leans down to press hot, open-mouthed kisses to her neck and collarbone.
"Spencer," she sighs. "Faster. You're not going to break me."
He nips at the skin on her collarbone and she lets out a soft moan. "You have no idea what you're doing to me, (Y/N)," Spencer pants against her skin. "You look so pretty underneath me. I can't get enough."
She bites her bottom lip again and arches her back off the mattress, trying to get even closer to him. His hand comes down on her waist and he holds her waist up.
His pace gets faster and he moves deeply into her.
With every hard thrust, the bed squeaks and (Y/N) groans. She should be worried about the fact that her bed sounds like it's going to break if they keep up this pace, but that is the very last thing on her mind.
The hand that was holding (Y/N)'s waist slithers lower and Spencer's fingers connect with her still-sensitive clit. She whines as he uses his fingers to get her closer to her orgasm. She bucks her hips up every time he thrusts into her, keeping up with his pace.
"Fuck, Spencer," she groans.
"You gonna come again for me, pretty girl?" he asks. It comes out in pants because of how labored his breathing is. His breathy voice is hotter than (Y/N) should find it. "Go ahead and come for me, baby. Let go. I've got you."
It isn't long after that before she's clenching around Spencer's dick and coming around him with the loudest moan that she's ever let out. Her back arches off the bed and for a second, she swears she's floating when her vision goes completely white.
Her entire body goes numb after her second orgasm in about fifteen minutes. (Y/N) isn't sure that she'll ever be able to move again. Spencer might have just killed her by giving her the best orgasm of her entire life.
(Y/N) doesn't even feel Spencer pull out or notice that he disappeared before she sees him walking back into the bedroom with a towel to clean them both up.
"We are so lucky that Cassia isn't here," (Y/N) says, voice raspy as she talks. Spencer laughs as he wipes away the layer of sweat that has formed on both of them. "I don't think I have ever been that loud during sex. Ever."
Spencer throws the towel on the floor and crawls next to (Y/N). He pulls the blankets on top of both of them and (Y/N) curls up at his side. "Next time, we can't be that loud," he tells her.
She looks up at him and pushes his sweat-soaked hair out of his eyes. "We should probably shower," she points out.
"Now why should we do that when that's not going to be the only round for tonight?" Spencer's head dips down and captures her lips in a slow kiss.
"What happened to sleep?"
"Sleep is for the weak."
· · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Spencer leaves early in the morning because he can't show up to work in the same clothes he left in yesterday. The kids would notice if he did that.
(Y/N) tells Cassia's father that she'll pick Cassia up from school since she's "already out". She isn't already out of the apartment. She leaves at two so she can go pick up her daughter, and see her new ... whatever Spencer is.
It's a little after 2:30 when (Y/N) pulls up to the school. She hangs around with the other parents, talking mostly to Brynn's mom about how Cassia was last night.
"What did you do with your suddenly free night?" Brynn's mom asks (Y/N).
"Drank some wine," she replies. "Turned in early and got up late." Not a complete lie. She was technically in bed by ten and only woke up to say goodbye to Spencer after a round of sex in the shower. She slept until noon after he left.
The kids all come running out shortly after. They get dismissed by grade and luckily for (Y/N), their teachers come out with them.
By the time third grade comes out, (Y/N) is practically shaking with excitement to see Spencer after their night together.
She sees Cassia come running out. Her daughter comes running right over to her. (Y/N) leans down and picks her daughter up "I thought daddy was picking me up today like he always does," she says.
"I was out and decided to come get you," she replies. "How was school today?"
"Doctor Reid was in a very good mood today," Cassia tells her mom. There is confusion in her voice. "He didn't even give us homework tonight because of his good mood."
(Y/N) look up to see Spencer walking toward her and Cassia. "No homework, hm?" she asks as Spencer approaches them with a smile on his face. "I think this calls for an ice cream night in celebration."
“Ooh, ice cream,” Spencer says. “Sounds like fun.” She shoots Spencer a little smile.
Cassia looks between her mother and teacher before she says, “You should come over and have ice cream with us, Doctor Reid! Ice cream night is a lot of fun. We watch movies too.”
“Now that does sound like a lot of fun,” Spencer replies, eyes flickering between (Y/N) and Cassia. “It’s up to your mom if I can come or not though.”
Her daughter looks at her and does her puppy dog pout. “Please?” she asks. “It’ll be a lot more fun if Doctor Reid came over and had ice cream with us.”
(Y/N) smiles and looks up at Spencer. “Would you like to come over and have ice cream with us while we watch movies, Doctor Reid?”
“Absolutely,” he replies. “Sounds like a lot of fun. What time should I come over?”
“Seven,” (Y/N) tells him.
Cassia celebrates and her mother puts her down. “See you later, Doctor Reid!” she calls as she runs to the car.
Both Spencer and (Y/N) look at each other while Cassia gets in the car. “Make sure you bring pajamas or a change of clothes tonight, Doctor Reid,” she tells him. “Don’t need a repeat of last night, do we?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Nice mark, by the way,” (Y/N) points out. “Wonder why you’re in such a good mood.”
