They're about to begin advancing toward the target of their ire when they take note of the strange setting.

"Is this... Book Castle?" They ask doubtfully, turning around once to eye the decorations.

I can’t believe this video exists. It’s a discussion between not two, not three, but FOUR mangakas who’ve had works serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump, as well as in Jump SQ and Jump+; Shinohara Kenta (Sket Dance, Kanata no Astra, Witch Watch), Asou Shuuichi (Boku no Watashi no Yuusha Gaku, Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan), Aimoto Shou (Hokenshitsu no Shinigami, Kemono Jihen), and Ooishi Kouji (Inumarudashi, Tomatoypoo no Lycopene).

It is SO rare for something like this to be recorded on video and uploaded on Youtube. Ooishi, who seems to be the organizer, mentions in the beginning that they’re doing this without the editorial department’s permission. They don’t talk about anything scandalous (there’s even one part where they start talking about the Jump Survey results and get a bunch of interference and they joke that it’s the editors jamming their feed), but also this video is part 2/3, it’s been a year since and part 3 still hasn’t been uploaded, which makes me wonder if the editors found out and forbid him from continuing this... (though in that case, this video should’ve been deleted)

Some funny things in the video:

Asou is married to an idol. Meanwhile, Shinohara Kenta’s wife and Yabuki Kentarou’s (the mangaka of Black Cat and the artist of To Love-Ru) wife are sisters?! Making them brother-in-laws

Around 10 years ago, Ooishi, Asou, and Aimoto went to a coffee shop. Since Ooishi was the senpai of the group, he paid the bill, which somehow totaled to more than 10,000 yen (about $100) despite them only having consumed coffee. Now that both Asou and Aimoto have become successful, Asou with Saiki K. and Aimoto with Kemono Jihen, Ooishi jokes that they should pay him back. Shinohara asks how did the bill get so expensive. Aimoto replies that it really was just regular coffee, no more than 500 yen per cup ($5), but that she by herself had drank around 8000 yen ($80) worth of coffee which like... girl... 0-0 that’s around 16 cups

From 2009 - 2010, all four of them had serializations in Weekly Shounen Jump. Shinohara mentions that he doesn’t really have memories from the time he was working on Sket Dance (because he was in a “strange” frame of mind, probably meaning he was so focused on making sure Sket Dance wasn’t canceled that he blocked out everything else)

Aimoto asks if they remember the survey results. Shinohara says that he remembers the results for his own manga, but not others. Aimoto says the same. Ooishi then asks them what’s the best survey ranking they ever got. Shinohara asks if they’re allowed to reveal that, which then leads to everyone wondering if they can. Ooishi says that since they’re talking about really old results it should be fine. Aimoto starts talking about it, but then there’s so much interference you can’t tell what she’s saying, causing Ooishi to joke that the editors are jamming their feed. Everyone laughs and decides to change the subject.

Asou asks if they read comments from readers. Shinohara and Ooishi say that they do. Shinohara says that for a mystery story like Kanata no Astra, he would get nervous before reading the comments, because he was always afraid that someone would figure out the mystery and reveal it to everyone else. Asou says that for gag mangas, a lot of the comments were tsukkomi rebuttals to the jokes.

Ooishi asks about everyone’s method on choosing character names, as he feels this is something he’s bad at. Aimoto says that recently she was told, in order for her characters’ names to be easily searchable on the internet, she shouldn’t pick out names that are commonly used. Asou remarks that that’s how he chose his pen name, by finding something that wasn’t already used on the internet.

On that note, while Asou Shuuichi and Aimoto Shou are both pen names, Shinohara Kenta and Ooishi Kouji use their real names, something that they both regret now. They remark that their generation of Jump mangaka didn’t really use pen names. Shinohara says that whenever he gets a package delivered from Shueisha, he gets worried that the delivery person would find out his identity and address, so now he has a “pen name” just for package delivery. Ooishi says that he uses a different name for haircuts and food delivery, and that when the hairstylist asks about his occupation, he just says that he works at home remotely.

All four remark that signing stuff for fans is hard, because they can’t just write their names they also have to draw something, and they feel a lot of pressure to make sure that drawing is good for the fan. Shinohara comments that although the requests make him very happy, he also gets worried because he’s slow at drawing. Whenever he watches videos of Kubo-sensei drawing (Kubo as in Kubo Tite, the mangaka of Bleach), he’s in awe because he produces such wonderful drawings so quickly and without sketching a rough draft or any guidelines.

Ooishi asks them when did they decide on their autograph, recounting that Hamada Kousuke (mangaka of Hanebado!) already had his autograph ready when working as an assistant at 19 years old. Shinohara says that he only decided on his after Sket Dance got serialized. Ooishi comments that he hesitated thinking about his autograph because there was always the possibility that his manga wouldn’t succeed, which Shinohara readily agrees with, stating that with Jump, the risk of cancellation always loomed overhead.

Ooishi asks when did they decide to be a mangaka. Asou and Ooishi decided around the age of 20. (Aimoto does not state exactly when, but given that she debuted at 19, probably at least a year before then.) Shinohara is the outlier who decided at 28/9, after quitting his job at a video game company. He submitted works for the Jump 12 Outstanding Rookie Manga Award and did not win, but he was a finalist. After that he debuted in Akamaru Jump with “Red Panda Puppet Show”, which Asou says he found really entertaining. Aimoto was also writing for Akamaru at around the same time, her debut work “Hanasaka Hime”, which Shinohara says he remembers very well, because the art was so good. Ooishi says that she was probably the youngest person to have debuted, but Aimoto says that she thinks Yabuki (Black Cat and To Love-ru Mangaka) was the youngest, because he debuted at the age of 18. Shinohara laughs and remarks that he must be the oldest and Yabuki the youngest. They have a funny relationship where Yabuki is his senpai even though he’s the “younger brother” (remember, they’re brother-in-laws lol) 

Shinohara mentions that when he visits his wife’s family home for the new year, Yabuki is also there. Ooishi jokes, presenting a To Love-Ru scenario where Yabuki’s in the bath and Shinohara enters the room. Shinohara finishes the joke saying, “I slide on a bar of soap and then, ossan on ossan, we bash our crotches together.”

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun - I’m surprised you haven’t seen/read.  It’s just a load of fun.

Kekkai Sensen - I’ve only seen the first season but it was so fun.  It’s animated by BONES if that makes a difference to you.

Arslan Senki - Ceator of FMA making a story about a prince trying to reclaim his throne? Sign me up.  The art gets me all nostalgic.

Enen no Shouboutai - This doesn’t need to be on here but it felt wrong to not include it.

Gin no Saji - Cute sol about farming? I’m in.  By the creator of FMA? I’m obsessed.

Monster - Me recing this is not a secret.

3-gatsu no Lion - It makes me feel things.  Those things are all sad.

Doukyuusei - Ngl it was boring to start but then it made me feel things and it’s really short.  Also gay.

Made in Abyss - This is genuinely horrifying but also fantastic.  Not for the squeamish. You will probably cry.

Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan - I laughed until I cried. Also has gintama cameos.

Shadows House - I hear the manga is much better but as I have not read I cannot verify.  That being said I loved the anime.  It was a fun and at times downright creepy mystery without losing all the joy sol gives me.

anime only - Either anime originals or with a source other than “manga”

GREAT PRETENDER - This is already on your ptw bc you added most of my favs but just a fun heist anime.  Technically has a manga adaptation but it’s an anime original and the adaptation is on hiatus so just watch it.

Godzilla: Singular Point - It just has really nice visuals and cute characters.  Also godzilla.

Nagi no Asukara - This made me cry.  While there is a manga adaptation, as it’s an anime original I’m not confident enough to rec it under both.

Hataraku Maou-sama! - Adapted from a light novel but has a manga version.  It’s fun and with s2 coming I expect we’ll see it on our dashes again soon. Gotta get ahead of the curve.

Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu. - Fun op protagonist but in a very sol way.

K - Excuse me I’m just still thinking of yata misaki and fushimi saruhiko. Has some manga adaptions. Lost small world has a manga and that’s honestly the most important part of the series you just need the context of the main series first.

Modao Zushi - I’ve fulfilled my obligation to han.  Has a manga adaption.

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta… - So fun.  Has a manga adaption.

Promare - It’s nonsense but so fun to look at.

manga only - Either manga only, I have not seen the adaptation, or I just think the manga is much better.

BURN THE WITCH  - While I love the anime, you need the prequel manga to make it make sense and since reading is easier for you might as well just go with that.  

Karin - I really like the anime and the anime original ending but this is how I first consumed it so this is the way I will rec.

Akame ga Kill! - I liked the anime.  The manga is better.

Owari no Seraph - I know you’ve watched the anime but the manga is so much better.  I need someone to scream with me.

Terra Formars - On indefinite hiatus.  I really enjoy this but it will slaughter all your favs. My favs are all still alive though so we good.

Choujin X - I see this on your planning.  It’s 3 chapters in but v good so far.

Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne - My favorite magical girl and one of the few without an awful age gap between the mc and the love interest.  It’s a lot of fun and I’m loving the anime so far but the angel backstories here make it worth the read rather than being interchangable.

Robot x Laserbeam - THIS DESERVES AN ANIME.  Golf manga by the creator of knb.

Tokyo Ghoul - At this point you need to just because everyone has.  It is fantastic though.

Dr. STONE reboot: Byakuya - I don’t know if you know this exists.

Sonyeowang - It’s been a while so I don’t remember it super well but it made me laugh a lot and I thought the art was pretty.

Beelzebub - I haven’t finished it and it’s been ages but I remember loving this.  It has an anime but I just haven’t gotten around to seeing it.

Warlord React to Fairytale character coming to life feat: Masamune, Nobunaga, Sasuke and Ieyasu 

Masamune- Tarzan

Every night as a child while the head maid tucked Masamune in bed, she would tell him a new fairytale (˶◕‿◕˶✿)

Masamune’s life was hard, with him having killed his father and his mother constantly trying to kill him

His eye would light up in delight the second Jane entered into the story

You lead him out of the darkness that covered him and back into the light, in some ways his life was like Tarzan and finally he had found his Jane

As a child Ieyasu moved around from place to place as a hostage

Yeah Nobunaga was alright, but his mom, his mom was so sweet and kind (˶◕‿◕˶✿)

She would drag him to sit with her and Nobunaga and read them fairytales

Ieyasu would always roll his eyes at the young Nobie proclaiming the snow-white would one day be his wife ⚆ _ ⚆

“Yeah right if anything you will probably end up marrying the evil queen”

Years later

Ieyasu dreamt about Nobunaga and his mother and the story about the sleeping princess (◕ω◕✿)

As a child he used to wish on the morning star that somehow he would be able to meet that girl one day (人ゝω・）

Ieyasu woke up, from the dream feeling someone beside him 

He was still half asleep and couldn't help but notice the scent of flowers, it was warm and comforting and before he knew it he was cuddled closer

In that moment he fully woke up (☉_☉)

His eyes went wide at the woman who slept peacefully beside him

He gave a small squeak and instantly backed away )Д⊙`)

Wasabi was curious as to what all the commotion was about, and came prancing into Ieyasu's room ˚ᆺ˚ (◕ω◕✿)

Curious Wasabe trotted her way up to the woman and sniffed her face

She smelled just like flowers and the little fawn couldn’t help but nibble      on her nose (◕ω◕✿)

You woke up, giving a big yawn as you moved to sit up and stretch （⌒▽⌒）

You saw a sweet little fawn nuzzling your face with her nose and you let out a chucked (◠‿◠✿)

“Morning Wasabi” ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

Ieyasu, was in the corner of his room rocking back and forth (•ﾟдﾟ•)

“H-how did you know her name,” he asked shyly ┬┴┬┴┤(･_├┬┴┬┴

“ Oooh she told me” (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

“WAIT, you can talk to animals,” Ieyasu got up and cautiously made his way towards you  (⑉⊙ȏ⊙)

There was no way this was happening to him, you looked and acted exactly like the girl from his favourite fairytale ◉_◉

You noticed the room was a little messy from Ieyasu’s freaking out and decided to help him clean it up  (｡・‧̫・｡).*＊♡

You summoned your forest friends to help tidy up the place

Ieyasu.exe stopped working ゞ◎Д◎ヾ

He soon got used to the idea that his favourite fairytale character had come to life and started asking you a billion questions in that contrary way of his   (♡´❍`‘)*✧‘✰ ‘*

It didn’t take long for you two cuties to fall in love  ( ° ᴗ°)~ð (/❛o❛\)

And now the two of you can often be found sleeping the day away

Or dancing together while you hum your favourite song 〜(꒪꒳꒪)〜

Sasuke- Frozen

Before Sasuke travelled back to the future he watched a bunch of Disney movies | (• ◡•)| (❍ᴥ❍ʋ)

He had taken a liking to the newest one “Frozen” ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

He especially liked the funny quirky redhead named Anna (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

He would at times find his mind drifting to the movie and his favourite female character ( ͡ᵔ ͜ʖ ͡ᵔ )

One day during a banquet he saw her ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿

He rubbed his eyes in disbelief and pinched himself ⚆ _ ⚆

This can’t be real ◉_◉

You happily made your way up to the scientist and introduced yourself

He was shook （（（゜Д゜；）））

You simply shrugged off the fact that you were in a different place

Your sister had shut you out her life and you had never left the confines of your castle, so you were so ready for a new adventure ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

Sasuke showed you around Kasugayama and you were in complete awe at everything (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ ✧ﾟ･: *ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ)

You and Sasuke spent the whole banquet making joke and pranking people (¬‿¬)

Yuki was a little suspicious of you, and as is the standard procedure for the boy, he called you an evil enchantress ⚆ _ ⚆

Sasuke broke out in laughter when you rolled your eyes and sarcastically replied “Nope, that would be my sister”  (˶◕‿◕˶✿)

Sasuke still couldn’t believe it  =^_^=

Not only had he discovered time travel but now his all-time favourite movie crush had come to life (˶◕‿◕˶✿)

Of course, Sasuke being Sasuke he did what any reasonable person would do in this situation (─‿‿─)

He broke out into song  (/◕ヮ◕)/

So the two of you sang “Love is an open door” and lived happily ever after

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch - You: I need happy. Me: Well here’s this thing that will make you cry but also I love it so watch it anyway.  When I talk about objectively good anime this is up there with FMAB and HxH as my top three.

GREAT PRETENDER - Has it’s sad moments but is overall just pretty funny.

Kekkai Sensen - I swear I’ll get to happy eventually.  This is such a fun time though.

Kuragehime - Okay now we have happy.  This is a cute sol about loving yourself.

Ouran Koukou Host Club - Why have you not seen this? This is my comfort anime.

Soul Eater - You know you want to.

Zankyou no Terror - Not happy but I really love this.  Also if you’re going for a more monochrome aesthetic like with your sonny boy gifset you’ll enjoy this to play around with.

Arslan Senki - You like FMAB, you’ll like this.

Baccano! - Will probably also make you cry but it’s a load of fun while you’re at it.

Bleach - Finish it for me please.

Dr. STONE - If you can’t tell by our weekly freaking out, this is great.  It’s a little sad at times but mostly a load of fun with cool science.

Karin - A cute spn romance where the love interest really is the best man. My favorite when I was in middle school but I never rec it bc it’s just a simple rom com.  I’m happy you want happy so I can.

Kyoukai no Kanata - Not happy but it’s beautiful so enjoy.

Monster - It’s on your planning so I feel no guilt telling you to watch another sad one.

Nagi no Asukara - It made me cry but it’s still good I promise.

3-gatsu no Lion - A v sad sol but still worth the watch.

Ao no Exorcist - Do it for me and Sofi.

Bungou Stray Dogs - Why isn’t this on your ptw?

Diamond no Ace - Do it for me and Anto.

Hataraku Maou-sama! - A fun reverse isekai about fantasy characters getting stuck in our world.  The demon king’s response: become the best part time worker he can be.

Hataraku Saibou - Learn about how the human body works in fun ways.

Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu. - Cute girl kicks ass in video games in the most absurd ways.  Lots of fun.

K - You’ll cry.  I confess I didn’t love it when I watched it but it stuck with me and the prequel movies are fantastic.

Little Witch Academia - The movies are so fun.  The show was alright but worth a watch if you like the movies.

Ookiku Furikabutte - A cute baseball anime.

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta… - Reverse harem isn’t always good, but when it is it’s some of my favorite stuff.  The mc is just so likable and her antics are always fun.

Promare - It’s a fun time.

PSYCHO-PASS - Not a fun time but still an old thing you need to see.

Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan - I laughed until I cried.  It’s the serotonin you need.

Shadows House - For a horror mystery it’s v cute.  Also not a lot of horror.

SHIROBAKO - A fun story about friends pursuing their dreams in the anime industry.  Not something I would typically rec but it makes me happy so maybe it’ll suit you.

Yuru Camp△ - A cute story about girls camping.

Yuukoku no Moriarty - Not happy but I love a good mystery.

Amagi Brilliant Park - I’ve said before kyoani is more about style than substance and this is the perfect example.  That said, it’s a good time.

Ballroom e Youkoso - An enjoyable anime with pretty dresses bc ballroom dancing.

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri - Honestly this anime is the reason I like isekai.  It’s been a while but I remember having so much fun.

Haikyuu!! - How have you not seen hq? Sports boys always make me happy so....

Joukamachi no Dandelion - I don’t remember much beyond thinking it was fun.

Kuroko no Basket - Just watch the super power basketball.  See what got me into sports anime.

Lovely★Complex - A cute romcom from my childhood.

Net-juu no Susume - A cute romcom about finding love in unexpected places.

A Hero At The End of the World. I agree with most of the review about it-- it’s very evident the author comes from a fanfic background bc writing fic is very different from novels and there’s some things that don’t translate (character development? relationship development?) if you read the book with the knowledge that its essentially drarry fanfic it makes sense, as its own novel there’s a lot rushed

SOPHIE AND HOWL ARE THE DELIGHT OF THIS BOOK, their characters are what makes it tbh, Book Howl is the best howl bc he’s ridiculous and hilarious and a coward and i luv it. sophie is less of a mouse (even tho she still thinks she is ahaha) and the part where she’s so pissed off she turns water into weedkiller is my fav. it’s also just a complete subversion fo fantasy which i think miyazaki sorta doesn’t get
