Hi may I request a fluffy kageyama x f badminton player reader scenario/one shot (hc’s are fine if that’s easier) I don’t have a very specific scenario in mind.. hope that’s okay. Maybe him coming to see one of her matches? Thank you :)
Of course you can❤️
I don’t know too much about badminton so I hope this one is okay. I wrote one head canon for how they may have ended up dating and I wrote a scenario to go with it as well. I hope you like it and thank you so much for being my first request!❤️❤️
Kageyama supports yn at her badminton match
Character: Kageyama

•One head canon I have for them is that they met when yn was practicing on the court with her team one afternoon and she accidentally hit the cork a tad bit too hard and it sailed over the fence and it hit Kageyama right on top of his head which caused him to jump a bit in shock as the cork falls to the ground. He looks over at her curiously. She runs over to the fence to apologize to him with her face red in embarrassment and he shakes his head and he said that it was fine but that she just be careful next time. She saw his volleyball club jacket and her eyes light up as she asked him what it was like playing volleyball and he asked her how to play badminton so they became friends over that and they ended up dating a while later.
Yn smiles as she takes her seat in class and she pulls out her notebook so that she can get ready for class. “Morning yn”, Kageyama says as he takes the seat beside hers. “Morning tobio how was practice yesterday I’m sorry I couldn’t make it”, she says, turning in her seat to face him. “It’s fine I know that you are working hard on your practice as well”, Kageyama says and his eyes seem to light up in excitement as he begins to tell her how far he and Hinata have come with their fast spikes and how much better the team has improved overall. He pauses and blushes lightly as he realizes he had started to ramble and he realizes that yn had been listening the entire time. “Sorry for talking so much”, he says. Yn grins as she shakes her head and rests her cheek on her hand. “It’s no problem at all tobio you’re cute when you’re excited”.
Kageyama coughs nervously and then a serious look crosses his face. “Oh that reminds me, speaking of sports, yn I saw a flyer on the school bulletin board for your upcoming match this weekend” Kageyama says. “And I was wondering if it wouldn’t be alright for me to come and support you”, he says quietly. Now it is yn’s turn to look excited. LOf course you can come tobio, if it doesn’t interfere with your weekend volleyball practice, I’d love to have you there” yn says with a wink. Kageyama nods earnestly. “Our practice is early in the morning so I’ll definitely be there, I don’t want to miss your first big match after all”, Kageyama says with a determined look on his face. “Thanks tobio,'' she says as a loving gaze crosses her face. “That means a lot”. “Of course” Kageyama says. “I’ll always support my girlfriend after all”. “And I’ll always support you as well tobio-chan”, she says causing Kageyama to blush again and it made her want to call him adorable because it seemed he only got so flustered around her.
That weekend yn arrives at the school and she heads over to the court. The other school’s team had already arrived and they were already doing a few practice hits with their rackets on the court so she made sure she had all of her equipment before pulling her sweatbands out of her bag and adjusting one on her forehead and one on her wrist before pulling her racket out of her bag as well and she goes to meet up with her school’s team on thier side of the court.
Before she steps foot onto the court however, she hears a familiar voice call out her name loudly from behind her. Yn turns around to see Kageyama standing behind the fence and he is still in his volleyball uniform. “Tobio-chan you made it”, she says with a relieved look on her face as she runs over to the fence with a happy grin on her face. Kageyama is panting hard and he is covered in sweat and he he has a towel around his neck as it looks like he had just come from practice. “Sorry I made it so close today to your match,'' he said. “I was hoping to get her a bit early so that I would get to talk to you for a bit before the match but you see our practice went a few minutes over and I wanted to be sure to be here even if I collapsed”.
Yn sets her racket down by the fence and she runs out to the other side of the fence and even though he is drenched in sweat she gives him a hug. “You are right on time tobio you have nothing to worry about”, she whispers happily. “and I promise the next time you have a volleyball match I’ll be there in the stands cheering you on”.
Yn is surprised when Kageyama suddenly kisses her as he is not usually a fan of public displays of affection. They pull away and he grins down at her as he takes her hand in his. “You got this okay yn don’t let that other team bother you, you are the best badminton player I’ve ever seen so go and prove that the karasuno badminton team is good enough to go to the nationals”. Yn smiles as she reaches up to high five her boyfriend’s other hand before pulling her other hand out of his grasp. “Of course I’ll do my best out there I mean I have my lucky charm here with me after all”, she says softly as she places a hand over her heart and she kisses his cheek before pulling away to run back onto the court.
The group of people gathered around them chuckle as Kageyama's cheeks heat up but he shakes his head and he doesn’t let the embarrassment get to him because he wants to focus all of his attention on his girlfriend while she plays her heart out in her favorite sport to ensure the karasuno badminton team’s spot in the preliminaries of the nationals.

Huwaaa. I just read your noya hc with kageyama's older sister and I am going to say that IM TRULY IN LOVE WITH NOYAA 😔❤ But here's the thing, can I request a hc where kageyama (or ushijima) crushing on oikawa's younger sister that also goes to karasuno (or shiratorizawa) ? you can do both or one of em if you want 👉🏻👈🏻
I did Kageyama cause I love him and he deserves love PERIOD! Also, I love Oikawa, he’s my baby I just like being mean to him so that’s a PSA.
Kageyama Crushing on Oikawa’s Younger Sister HC
Kageyama doesn’t really ever have the time to think about girls. No girl has ever really caught his attention and he’s pretty content with not having a girlfriend since it would only distract him
Or so he thought
Because when he sees you in the gym one day doing a playful 3 v 2 match with his teammates, his lil milk carton slips out of his hands and spills all over the floor
 ohmygodwhyismyheartbeatingsofast
Hinata shouts over to Kageyama to come play and Kageyama feels his stomach twist and turn as he stands on the opposite side of the net
You give him a friendly smile and he curses at himself because he doesn’t want his teammates to see how flushed his face is
It doesn’t really matter but just in case yall are curious the teams are:
Team one: Kageyama, Hinata, and Tanaka
Team two: mystery girl, Noya, and Tsuki
He also almost has a heart attack because you’re a setter too and you’re so frickin good like he can only describe your style of playing to be similar to Oikawa’s but screw that guy why would he be thinking of him???
After the playful game, you shake his hand cause duh sportsmanship and Kageyama is so nervous because he knows that he has a definitive crush on you now
All he can think about is how your hand is surprisingly soft for a volleyball player
Come to think of it he’s never actually held hands with a girl
“ Wow, you really gave me a run for my money, I’m impressed. Did you play volleyball in junior high?”
He couldn’t believe you were actually talking to him but he swallowed down any nerves before speaking
“ Yes, I was a setter at Kitagawa Daiichi.”
When he saw you smile, that’s what instantly killed him because you checked all the boxes for him
Likes and plays volleyball ✓
Friendly and Sweet ✓
AND PRETTY?!?!  ✓ ✓ ✓ CHECK CHECK CHECK
Literally what could go wrong?
“ No way, my brother was the captain for Kitagawa! He goes to Aoba Johsai now!”
Kageyama felt his heart drop as he thought of Oikawa but maybe, just maybe you were talking about someone else
“.....Who’s your brother?”
“ Toru Oikawa, do you know him?”
WAR FLASHBACKS THIS BOY HAS FRICKIN PTSD CAUSE GOD DAMN IT, OF COURSE, THE FIRST GIRL HE LIKES IS RELATED TO OIKAWA
His brain can’t even comprehend how someone so nice is related to that bastard
“ No”
“ Oh that’s probably for the best, he’s kinda an ass.”
Kageyama thought it would be rude to agree so all he did was shrug nervously before you broke the awkward tension
“ I have to get back to class, I only stopped by to talk to your captain for a second but it was nice meeting you Kageyama-kun.”
You waved goodbye to everyone else and walked out of the gym, being careful to step over the spot where Kageyama had spilled his milk
Kageyama was still in shock because not only did he feel like he completely messed up his shot with you, but his brain was going crazy because he actually wanted to see you again
He always kept an eye out for you in the hallways but it seemed like every time he caught a glimpse of you, you were gone which only made him like you even more
For weeks, all he could think about was the chance to see you again and he would even practice in the mirror on how he would talk to you because he really didn’t want to mess things up with you
He even tried to ask Tanaka and Noya for advice because he thought they had the most experience with girls but Kageyama started to feel too overwhelmed with how much information he was supposed to remember so he just decided that it would be better if he figured it out on his own
Kags thought he would have enough time to figure out how to talk to you right?
Wrong HAHA
the thought of you showing up to the Spring High Preliminaries didn’t even cross his mind so when he saw you sitting outside the gym doors, his hands got extra sweaty and his heartbeat was all over the place
Cause duh, of course, you would show up since Aoba Johsai was playing
He thought you looked even prettier than the first time he met you in the gym and even though you were wearing an Aoba Johsai jersey to support your brother, he still wouldn’t change anything about the way you looked at this moment
All of that courage he was building up over the past couple of weeks was long gone but Tanaka and Noya being the best wingmen they could be each grabbed Kageyama’s shoulders and shoved him over to you
“ Please don’t do this-”
“ Aw come on Kags, it’s not everyday you get the chance to make a move on a smokin babe! We’re only here to make your life easier right Tanaka?”
“ Yep! Come on, we’re not going to just stand by and watch the love of your life slip away! Go and make your senpais proud!”
You looked up from your phone right as Tanaka and Noya gave Kags one last push, sending him falling over into the seat next to you
“ Kageyama-Kun! Are you okay?”
“ IMFINE!”
You couldn’t help but laugh at how nervous he was being, this was a totally different side to Kageyama than the one on the court but you didn’t mind at all
“ Are you excited? I saw the bracket and you guys have a really good shot to go to nationals.”
Kageyama’s stomach shifted as he hesitantly took a seat next to you and did his best to ignore the stares coming from his teammates
Luckily Daichi and Kiyoko shooed off the rest of the team so you guys could get some privacy
“ We’re going to have to beat Aoba Johsai if we want to win.”
“ Well it might not seem like it but I’m rooting for you to win- look!”
Kageyama furrowed his eyebrows together as you lifted up the bottom of your pants and showed him your Karasuno black and orange socks
“ I would’ve worn a Karasuno jersey but my brother gets kinda superstitious. The socks are like a secret weapon to support you guys without getting my head ripped off by Toru.”
Kageyama knew that it was just a pair of socks but he couldn’t even wrap his head around the fact that you were ‘rooting for him to win’ instead of your own blood
“Maybe one day I’ll give you my jersey to wear on game day”
Holycrapdidhejustsaythatoutloudwhywouldhesaythatoutloudohmygod
He couldn’t help himself it just came out of his mouth so fast and he meant for it to be in his head but the socks made him think about you in his jersey. He tried so hard to calm himself down and his face was flushed a deep red at this point
Kageyama didn’t even know what to say he just sat there with his hand covering his mouth in shock
“ Really? I would love to wear your jersey!” You smiled as Kageyama stopped breathing,” I mean I can’t wear it now but if you guys win, I’ll definitely wear it to all of your games.”
Hold up, did you just AGREE TO WEAR HIS JERSEY?!?!?!
Before he could even process what was going on, he felt his heart sink to the floor when he saw Oikawa walking over to the two of you
“ Tobio-chan with my Y/N-chan? I gotta say little sis, if you’re trying to dig up dirt against Karasuno by getting cozy with Tobio-chan, you’re already too late. I can read him like a book. Maybe you should try Shiratorizawa, I could use a spy to get in close with Ushiwaka.”
The thought of you getting close to him just for information stung Kageyama but you were quick to roll your eyes at the accusation
“ First off, Ushijima terrified me and second, I have better things to do with my time than to pretend to be interested in someone Shittykawa. Unlike you, people actually enjoy my company.”
“ You’re so vulgar, you’re spending too much time with Iwa-chan,” Oikawa huffed as he turned to face Kageyama
Kageyama mentally braced himself because anytime he ever interacted with Oikawa, it always ended badly
“ And you-”
“ Nope, Toru if you’re going to say some snarky ass comment, keep it to yourself,” You interrupted which startled both Oikawa and Kageyama,” focus more on the match than worrying about Kageyama, that’s my job.”
Kageyama was SHOCKED you would speak to your older brother like that, ESPECIALLY since you were going out of your way to defend him
Truth be told he was falling for you even harder than before
Oikawa stuck his tongue out at the two of you but walked away with whatever dignity he had left
Kageyama felt a new rush of confidence; if you could stand up to your older brother for him than damn it, he was going to man up and ask you out
“ Do you want to go on a date? With me?”
When you smiled at Kageyama, his heart was beating so loud against his ribcage he could’ve sworn everyone around him could hear it
“ I thought you would never ask.”

SAUDADE
( 𝐧 . ) a nostalgic longing to be near again to something or someone that is distant , or that has been loved and then lost ; “ the love that remains ”
Tumblr media
⠀you were right.
⠀karasuno did practice a lot.
⠀holy shit, when did they become this good?
⠀goddammit, why did you have to be right?
⠀you could see the struggle your team was going through with the first set. oikawa told them to not underestimate the underdog team, but you could tell there was a subconscious feeling of pride in their chests from beating them in the preliminaries months ago. but like tooru said, there was no point in you making any interjections; just be the cute little manager, and everything should go smooth sailing from there.
⠀the karasuno first years were noticeably better. everyone in the gym, players and regular spectators alike, could see it. namely, the setter and that peculiar middle blocker. you remembered them vaguely from the prelims; oikawa disliked them, the setter in particular. number nine - tobio kageyama, from kitagawa daiichi.
⠀you watched one of kageyama's middle school games with tooru, before you two started dating. the infamous "king of the court"; you didn't realize it was meant to be derogatory until you witnessed the setter in action. tooru seemed somewhat smug with his actions on the court, bossing everyone around and setting without much thought for the other players' preferences. the court was a kingdom, and kageyama was at the top of the monarchy - that kingdom would soon be his downfall.
⠀you've never heard of the short middle blocker until the start of the preliminaries. you originally thought he was a water boy or an assistant to the team until you saw his jersey. your next assumption was a pinch server or even a defense specialist.
⠀no, he was on the starting lineup.
⠀right in the middle block position.
⠀you were beyond surprised with the kid. their quick attack was a force to be reckoned with. you weren't there the day of the practice match, so this was your first time being exposed to karasuno's secret weapon. those crows were no longer flightless. you still sometimes marvel at the fact seijoh managed to seal the third set. the next loss against shiratorizawa felt more disheartening than usual, after having to fight so hard for it.
⠀the entirety of the last set had you on the edge of your seat. for the entire game you were doing something; whether you joined in on the audience chants, handing out water bottles and towels, or even giving some friendly words of encouragement. you attempted to talk to your boyfriend during timeouts, but he was completely uninterested, his focus only on the game.
⠀by now, the other players caught onto his neglect towards you, and did their best to support you in any way they could. yahaba mainly kept you company during the game, since he was a pinch server. during timeouts, makki and mattsun would give you pats on the shoulder during timeouts, taking every opportunity to thank you whenever you did something for them. as for iwaizumi - he gave you the most attention during timeouts. the ace hardly left your side, even while the captain explained something to the entire team. you were thankful for hajime's friendliness, but there was still a sharp pain in your chest from tooru. the wall that separated the two of you grew more with each day, and you still hadn't figured out a way to break it.
⠀"you got this, seijoh!" you raised an enthusiastic fist in the air when the whistle called for the end to another timeout. the lineup turned to face you, each of them giving you a thumbs-up and a smile in acknowledgement. you looked to your brunet boyfriend, who mustered a small smile and a nod of his head before returning to the court.
⠀aoba johsai was already at match point - victory was so close, couldn't they just push for one more?
⠀the opposing school looked like they reached a second wind at the very end, something that seijoh did not need at a moment like this. karasuno pulled stunt after stunt; the players could hardly keep up with every move. your eyes are locked on oikawa, pupils shaking with fear as kageyama scored a deuce with a notorious setter dump - you felt the apprehension as tooru's jaw grew physically taut for being bested by a first year.
⠀and just when you thought it couldn't get any worse -
⠀your mind went blank when your eyes witnessed tooru's arms miss the final receive.
⠀your brain went numb as the gym went silent, eyes on the ball that flew out of bounds, with no possible way of passing back into the game. karasuno screamed for joy but your ears blocked out the sound like a busted speaker, watching the cloud of disappointment rain over the players on your side of the court, one by one.
⠀aoba johsai... lost.
⠀and it wasn't to shiratorizawa.
⠀you could hardly process the information as you stood up to join the team in paying respects to the game, watching as seijoh thanked their audience for coming to support them. a lump caught in your throat as you watched the team walked back with little to no pep in their step, grabbing their belongings silently and walking out the gym. their eyes were glossy with disappointment.
⠀you jogged up to the brunet as he came back from searching for any other teammates lagging behind, swallowing the nervous lump as you spoke, your voice filled with concern.
⠀"tooru, you did great out there," you reassured him. by the look in his eyes, he didn't buy it. "you did amazing today, and i'm so proud of you."
⠀"please get out of my way, y/n." he shrugged you off and continued to walk towards the bus, his hands shoved in his pockets as he trudged along. he's upset, it's understandable. even so, the painful heaviness in your chest came back as you made your own way to the bus.
⠀the ride back home was a quiet one, the vehicle driving to aoba johsai quickly. the disheartening atmosphere was suffocating your lungs, your eyes fighting back your own share of tears as you watched the players step out onto the pavement, their eyes sullen and dull. kyoutani and kunimi were the first to leave, the latter wishing the rest a goodnight before turning heel and walking home. as for the former, he hardly did so much as grumble before sprinting off. the remaining ones stood there in silence for a few moments, their next plans unclear.
⠀the ramen restaurant was supposed to be a joke - the captain wasn't supposed to treat them to anything but a trip to nationals. but with defeat hung heavy in the air like a dark fog, even ramen couldn't bring them back up into their spirits.
⠀kindaichi and the rest of the second years were the next to leave, their wishes of departure nothing more than mutters as they braved a strong facade in their eyes. it was a general agreement amongst the players that the ramen date would come another day; for now, everything that happened today just needed more time to settle.
⠀"tooru, we should get going soon - " after waving a few people goodbye, you spun to where the third year previously was, only to find that he was no longer there. you turned to hajime, who pointed to the doors leading into seijoh. you looked quick enough to catch a glimpse of brown hair disappearing into the school before the door shut. you and the other third years collectively agreed to follow oikawa into the gym - god knows what he was planning to do there.
⠀you walked into the gym first, watching with a solemn expression as you watched the setter attempt to put up the net all on his own. he seemed hardly fazed at the sound of the gym doors opening, ignoring the others as he continued.
⠀iwa was the first person to step forward, and you watched as the ace moved to help oikawa in setting up the net. makki and mattsun followed suit not long after him. you didn't exactly know how to help with the net, and thus had to sit to the side as the four began to play two on two, their voices gone and the scrimmage as good as mute. you sat on the side, spectating the match with your arms around your knees. you felt no obligation to go home - not yet.
⠀about an hour had passed, and the third years had enough. two on two was much more work than six on six, and everyone besides oikawa was ready to call it quits. his eyes were focused even when the rest stepped off the court, grabbing a ball to serve again.
⠀"oikawa, that's enough." no answer.
⠀"oikawa."
⠀hajime clenched his jaw as he was blatantly ignored by his teammate, but you stood up before he could do anything else. he watched as you made your way over to your boyfriend, wanting to actually talk to him after the stressful day. step by step, you approached him as he practiced his jump serve, his brown eyes flamed with frustration and anger as he moved to pick up another one.
⠀"tooru, please." you stopped him before he could grab another ball, your voice gentle as you addressed him. the others were silent. "it's been a long day. please, let yourself rest. after an amazing match like today, you deserve time to - "
⠀"amazing? amazing?" you jumped back instinctively as he gripped the ball, turning his body to face you entirely. this glare was more intense than any other nasty look he's given you in the past. "what about that game was amazing? the fact that we lost? you think that part was fucking amazing, huh?"
⠀your stomach dropped. "no, tooru, that's not what i meant - "
⠀"you fucking tell me what part of that game was amazing then, y/n!" he slammed the volleyball he held towards the ground, his voice raising higher by the second. "i failed to take us to tokyo. i failed to lead our team to victory. i failed to secure another god forsaken match against shiratorizawa!" he stormed towards you, his eyes ablaze and uncontrollable. "and you have the audacity to tell me that it was amazing? are you stupid?"
⠀"i just want you to rest! you're always pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion! is that so wrong of me to care about your wellbeing?" you found a voice to yell back at him, but retracted it oh so slightly when you noticed his mood worsen. "listen, tooru! you have to take care of yourself, dammit! you did the best you could, and that's all that matters! seijoh's loss against karasuno doesn't take away from the fact that you're an outstanding player!"
⠀the ball that he threw to the ground somehow found its way to roll against his ankle. "if i had just mastered my serve, maybe we'd be the ones playing shiratorizawa."
⠀"what?"
⠀"you." oikawa pointed a finger at you, his jaw tight. "if it wasn't for you being such a pain in my ass all the time, i could've improved my serving. but no, you had to drag me out of the fucking gym every time i found time to practice by myself." bringing his hands down to his sides, he smiled - something maniacal. "you wanted us to lose, didn't you?"
⠀"what the fuck, oikawa?" enough was enough, and iwaizumi finally broke between the quarrel. "you're just being delusional at this point, leave y/n alone - "
⠀"no, iwaizumi. you need to shut up." tooru's eyes never left yours, and yours began to quiver in sincere fear. "you, y/n, you wanted us to lose, didn't you? you never let me practice, and in turn that would prevent us from winning. you didn't want us to go to nationals! you were pissed off that i was paying attention to something else! what, being a fucking brat that you didn't get what you want?"
⠀"tooru, i don't even know what you're talking about!" your vision blurred at his raised voice, your heart constricting with every accusation. "i know how much volleyball means to you! i would never do anything so selfish, i wanted seijoh to go to tokyo just as much as you guys!"
⠀"you are such a bad liar." pressing a single finger to your chest, his teeth seethed as he hissed his next words. "it's your fault we lost. not mine, not the others. you. it's your fault for being a pain in my. fucking. ass."
⠀"t-tooru - "
⠀"get the fuck away from me. i don't want to see your face."
⠀a shot to the heart.
⠀the resolve to hide your tears shattered, as you turned heel to grab your things and leave. leave, run, do anything. to get out of there.
⠀"y/n, wait!" you felt a hand on your wrist, your eyes fairly forming hajime's outline. "don't! i'll just drive you home, okay?"
⠀you shook your head furiously as you yanked your hand out of his grip, reaching for your bag and sprinting as fast and as far as your own two legs could take you, out of the gym, and out of the school.
⠀you paid no mind to where you were running, as your mind memorized its way back home all the way in your first year. large, wet tears decorated your face like poison, your voice blubbering sobs and incoherent apologies to the wind as you carried on.
⠀then, out of the blue, headlights appeared.
⠀where even were you?
⠀you stopped abruptly, wiping your eyes to get a sense of your current environment.
⠀there was a voice in the distance. hajime?
⠀"Y/N, GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE ROAD! YOU'RE GONNA GET HURT!"
⠀your head turned...
⠀crash.

LITERALLY LOOK AT HIM HE’S SO CUTE
Words: 1340
**********
Sweat dripped down from your chin and soaked the collar of your jersey, the overwhelming sense of humid stickiness seeming to cover every surface of the Tokyo gymnasium.
Everything became more heightened as soon as the ball left the surface of your palm; the ache in your left foot, the strand of runaway hair that lingered on your forearm, and the pair of eyes that gleamed intensely at you from somewhere in the stands.
You couldn’t see who it was, but at this point it didn’t even matter as you watched the volleyball land snugly into the corner of the opposite side of the court.
The blow of the whistle brought you out of your world of slow motion, and you were bombarded by numerous teammates at the sound. That point just secured your team a spot in the next round of Nationals. When that thought truly, surely set in, a giddy laugh bubbled past your lips, and you gripped onto your setter in the sea of bodies - a sign of great appreciation for that final toss.
In a blur, your team was ushered off the court so that the next set of players could warm up, but not before you turned to face a crowd of school supporters who had traveled their way to Tokyo. In the midst of celebrating spectators, one especially caught your eye with his intent stare. Standing up in front, he wasn’t even a student at your school, but rather a very close friend from the same district.
A flash of a smile, a thumbs up, and then those blazing eyes of his were gone.
“Hey, you coming?” Your captain, a current third year caught your attention. “There’s a few reporters who I’m sure want to talk with you, Ms. First Year Ace.”
You scoff playfully as she steers you towards the player tunnel, filled to the brim with promising athletes and interviewers hungry to find a star story. “Alright, mom, I’m going!”
“Hey, as soon as you’re done here, you can go and congratulate that little number ten you’re so fond of on his win,” your team’s libero teased.
Despite the embarrassment that revealed itself in shades of pink on your cheeks, your eyes couldn’t help but light up at the idea.
The Karasuno match was being streamed in the players tunnel before your own one began, and the deafening shriek you managed after the men’s Miyagi representatives defeated the infamous Miya Twins had players turning heads your way in surprise (and slight annoyance, in some cases).
As your team was the female group’s representative of the Miyagi Prefecture, it was expected that you’d at least be a little proud. However, such excitement was only emphasized by the fact that you were well acquainted with the boys of Karasuno.
Most notably, your bond with one orange haired decoy on their team was especially strong. You and Hinata had clicked instantly after meeting at the sports banquet held for all players post the Interhigh Preliminaries. He deeply admired you for becoming an ace in your first year, and you couldn’t help to feel a force pulling you into the energetic boy’s world, one full of such determination and brightness.
At this point, it was painfully obvious to both teams that each were head over heels for the other. All it needed was one push to get the ball rolling, but apparently neither of you were brave enough to take that step due to a lingering fear of rejection.
As you stood in front of the camera lenses of reporters, confidence and energy overflowing within you, you thought that maybe you would just make that move as soon as you got the time to break away.
The universe seemed to have other plans.
“How does it feel to be the youngest ace in the National tournament this year?”
The question had been asked to you before, but the familiar words still sent excited goosebumps up your arms.
“It’s crazy,” you laughed airily. “I still can’t believe I was gifted with such a great team to help me get where I am right now, and I’m just looking for a chance to cement my spot as a legitimate ace despite my younger age.”
The woman beside you started to move on to the next point written on her notepad, but a voice from the tunnel exit had you whipping your head to the side as someone called your name. Tufts of orange hair appeared in your vision, and soon a figure emerged from behind a handful of other players preparing for their next match.
The smile on his face was blinding and carefree, but the glint in his eyes seemed a bit different than usual. You didn’t pay much mind to it, assuming he was still somewhat in focused mode after Karasuno’s major win from earlier in the day.
You turned back to the interviewer and the cameraman with an apologetic smile and held a finger up. “I’m super sorry, but could I have just a minute? I’ll be back in one moment.”
The woman nodded in understanding, and your gaze returned to the approaching middle blocker from Karasuno High.
“Shoyo! Congratulations on your advancement!” you exclaimed, and the ginger’s eyes brightened at the commendation. Still, he didn’t say a word as he continued making his way to you.
“Your receives were CRAZY! I was watching on the monitor down here and when I saw-” your sentence cut off when Hinata stopped right in front of you, and warm, calloused hands reached out to cup the sides of your face.
Before you knew it, Hinata had his lips firmly pressed to yours, pulling you to him like it was his life’s mission. They were slightly chapped, yet they still conveyed a gentle sweetness, and your hands rested quickly on his chest to steady yourself.
Surprised was an understatement, but it didn’t stop you from responding as soon as the situation registered in your mind. Not even the flash of camera lights directed your way distracted you from the moment.
Just like that, the Karasuno first year pulled back to scan your face, a large smile dominating his own features at your positive response to the unexpected kiss.
“Do you want to go eat something with me after you’re done with all this?” he asked.
“Uh-huh,” was all you could sputter after such a forward move. His grin grew impossibly wider.
“Great! I need to put my stuff on the team bus but I’ll be back soon and we can go!”
You grabbed Hinata’s team jacket sleeve before he could successfully make an exit, and as he turned back around you crashed your lips together, arms wrapping around his neck to keep him in place.
This time he was the surprised one as you pulled apart by just a few centimeters, noses lightly brushing against one another.
“I thought you got easily flustered by girls?” you inquired, smugness glimmering in your eyes.
“The adrenaline is slowly starting to leave, give it a second,” he noted with blunt honesty, and you couldn’t help but laugh. “I just had to do something after you played a game like that.”
“You’re crazy, Shoyo.”
“And you’re amazing.”
You pecked his lips a last time, teasingly pushing away as he started to lean forward for another, and gestured towards the tunnel exit. “Go put away your things first, and I’ll meet you in five minutes.”
Hinata nodded excitedly. “It’s a date.”
Date.
It’s a date!
Giddiness coursed through your body at the word, as if the surprise of the Karasuno boy kissing you hadn’t already gotten you bouncing on your toes.
You vaguely remembered being interviewed before any of the commotion began, and veered your attention back to the now wide-eyed reporter from earlier. It seemed the situation had also caught the attention of many other people in the room, players and interviewers alike looking your way.
You raised a hand to somewhat cover your wide smile, your entire body burning. “Uh, could you repeat your last question?”
