@/iMiaSanMia: Julian Nagelsmann: "Ilkay Gündogan remains captain. But Manu's word will continue to have weight. The captain is intended to be a contact point for his teammates. Players should feel like they have a leader in their ranks. He’s a representative of the team"
On Hummels being dropped: Mats hasn’t played as much recently as before. We now have a different system and one less centre-back. There are currently other players there. I don't see Mats as the ideal choice. It’s not always just about finding the best players, but perhaps simply the most suitable ones.
On who will start in goal in the next two games: We will have a conversation with both of them [Neuer and ter Stegen] - and then decide.
On dropping Goretzka: The decision was not between Pavlović and Leon. Leon's last few games have been much better, that's right. It's about finding the right players for the roles, I see other players ahead at the moment. We had others in mind. Through very good performance and an understanding of the role, the door is not closed. It wasn’t a pleasant conversation [with Goretzka], as you can imagine, but you have to make decisions.
On Pavlović: He has shown very strong performances recently. He was one of the best players at Bayern. Of course this was not a political decision. We didn't have to convince him. That was the consequence of the performance principle. We'll see whether it'll be enough for the Euros. He talks in the dressing room and doesn’t hide despite his young age.
On his future: I currently have a contract with the DFB until after the European Championships. I don't have any other contract available. My full focus is on the European Championships and the national team.
But, Nagelsmann is definitely thinking about his future: I would advise that to anyone whose contract is about to expire.
On Thomas Müller: He’s been playing a lot recently. He knows what his role is, he knows what importance he can have in each role. Thomas could also settle for a spot off the bench. He already knows the role at FC Bayern. Thomas is a player who also has a role off the pitch. He is an intelligent player who doesn’t focus on himself but on the team.
On Kroos' comeback: He is very important, but also not the sole savior. He knows what he can do. On the other hand, he also knows what he can't do. He has a very good instinct, a good calmness. He can be a brilliant link between defense and attack. There is always this expression in Germany “Querpass-Toni” [sideways pass Toni] - Anyone who says that knows nothing about football. I'm extremely happy that after many conversations I persuaded him to come back. I give him credit for that.
On 4 Stuttgart players called up: That’s also momentum. This year they are doing very, very well. I could have called two or three more from VfB. Waldemar Anton is a very good defender, also with an offensive urge. He won't demand to play every game from the start, but he'll still give it his all. Maxi Mittelstädt is currently the most stable left-back in the Bundesliga. Statistically speaking, he is by far the best left-back in the Bundesliga. Chris Führich is an extremely valuable player, with 1v1 and good finishing, that can be key if we need a goal. Deniz Undav has a great ability to read spaces. He runs a lot, is hard-working and has a good nose for goal.
On Jan-Niklas Beste: He can play an offensive role but also at the back and can play left-back without any problems. Plus he is an exceptional set piece taker. He deserved the nomination with the goal involvments he has.
Nagelsmann says Rüdiger and Tah will be the starting CB duo: Toni and Jona are initially the starters in central defense. They can confirm this through good performances.
On BVB players (except Füllkrug) being dropped: The assessment is not always about talent. I spoke to Edin (Terzic) and Sebastian Kehl on the phone, I can imagine that neither of them are happy. I think other players have better momentum. Everyone knows what it will take to get back in. From the discussions we had, they know what is missing so that they can be called up for the Euros. The player decides at the end. I’m just the executive body. Julian Brandt was a tough decision, Führich probably has the better momentum at the moment.

Beyond the Bell's Chimes | Part 22
RIIZE fanfiction: Wonbin, Eunseok, Seunghan, Shotaro, Sohee, Sungchan, Anton, Original Characters
Genre: Youth, Teenage Romance, High School, Friendship, Angst, Fluff, Fanfiction
Tumblr media
Shotaro, surrounded by the school's staff and student council, stood at the entrance of Segye High School Cultural Festival's opening ceremony. The principal droned on with a lengthy speech, causing a few stifled yawns from the audience, including Shotaro, who was anxious about his upcoming student council president's speech. Just when it was his turn at the microphone, his secretary, Miyoung, discreetly passed him a note. He quickly scanned it, nodded in response, and took the mic.
After a brief introduction of himself and the council, Shotaro outlined the festival's exciting offerings and warmly welcomed visitors from various schools and cities. They finally cut the ribbon to officially open the gates.
The hallways filled up as students eagerly explored different classrooms, and the air buzzed with students promoting their booths.
In one particular class, the attention was centered on a charming young man named Prince Eunseok, who was approached by a group of girls from Serim Women High School while enjoying a cup of tea on a couch. Eunseok was in the middle, and one girl couldn't help but ask, "Do you have a girlfriend, Prince Eunseok?"
Eunseok paused, sighed, and gently held the girl's chin, teasing, "How can you be so cruel not to consider yourself my woman?"
The girls erupted with excitement, vying for Prince Eunseok's attention. Sungchan, Eunseok's best friend, observed the scene from a distance, while Miyoung, Shotaro's secretary, stood nearby, monitoring the situation.
"Don't blame him for being so charming. We're currently number one in all the rankings," Miyoung remarked, engrossed in the festival's statistics. Sungchan was surprised to see her there, as he thought she'd be busy with council duties.
"Annoying," Sungchan grumbled, referring to Eunseok. "How many people are waiting in line for him?" he asked.
"We've got 15 girls waiting for him so far. And as for you, there are 8," Miyoung replied, snapping her fingers, prompting other classmates to whisk Sungchan away to an empty table.
"Prince Sungchan!" The girls exclaimed, captivated by his charm. "What do you look for in a girl?" Sungchan cast a desperate glance at Miyoung, but she was determined to maximize their earnings, ensuring all their handsome classmates maintained the top-ranking position for the cultural festival.
"Miyoung, there are girls inquiring about Prince Hanbin," a staff member announced, delighting Miyoung as she eagerly directed her classmates into the frenzy.
Class 1-B had their first gig, and the crowd's reaction was so incredible that it created a buzz throughout the entire building. People were lining up to see Mars Club, drawn by rumors of the band's good looks and exceptional singing. In the meantime, they were selling packaged cookies and cheering slogans at the entrance.
After their successful performance, the boys took a quick break behind the stage.
"Sohee, how was it?" Jiwoo asked while handing him a paper towel to wipe off his sweat.
"That was so exciting!" Sohee replied with his brightest grin. He was indeed born as a performer.
"You sang incredibly, Sohee!" Jiwoo applauded, offering water and cookies to energize him quickly. She then turned her attention to the two boys on the side.
"Water for Seunghan, Wonbin. And cookies," she said as she handed them their snacks and provided paper towels for them to wipe their sweat.
"How do you think we did?" Seunghan inquired.
"Being good at it feels like an understatement," Jiwoo replied, lips slightly pinned with a cheeky smile. "It's my first time seeing a band up close, and you are all so handsome and talented!"
"Really? So who is cooler than me?" Wonbin teased Jiwoo.
"Sohee," Jiwoo replied almost immediately. "Sohee's way ahead of you," she added, causing a frown from Wonbin and laughter from Seunghan.
"Ouch, that hurt," Seunghan commented before agreeing with Jiwoo. "If only you were there when they came to my place, you'd be amazed at how good he is!"
"Hey! Hey! I can hear you guys!" Sohee walked towards them. "It's not a compliment if the person you're praising isn't present," he said cheekily.
"You're the best!!" Jiwoo and Seunghan said in unison. Wonbin, who was initially annoyed by Jiwoo's response, couldn't help but join in. He realized he might have been too tense about everything.
Jiwoo checked the time and gasped. "Guys, I have to go for now," she said as she hurriedly grabbed her wallet.
"Where are you going?" Wonbin asked. "Let me go with you," he offered. Seunghan and Sohee exchanged glances at the sudden drama Wonbin was trying to show.
"Actually, I need to go by myself," Jiwoo smiled. "I'll be back, and you have to perform in 15 minutes. I won't be back by then," she said, avoiding mentioning that her family was visiting her school, fearing how her parents would react to the boys' introduction.
"Don't get trapped somewhere," Wonbin warned, raising a brow from Sohee at his choice of words.
"Shouldn't you be saying 'don't get lost'?" Sohee innocently asked. "Because there are a lot of people, so maybe she'll get lost," he explained.
"Well, she can still get trapped in a room," Seunghan reasoned out, making sense to Sohee. "Ooh, should we visit the horror room later?" he suggested.
"The horror room, run by the seniors, right?" Sohee snickered. "I'll ask Suyoung later!" He clapped his hands in excitement.
~
Jiwoo hurried to meet her family, eager to show them around her school, especially her curious younger brother, Woojae. She found them with Miri at the entrance, and the joy of seeing them was evident.
"Miri! Mom! Dad! Woojae!" Jiwoo greeted them, especially her 9-year-old brother, Woojae. He had a mature personality for his age, much like Jiwoo herself. Woojae expressed his interest in seeing Jiwoo's classroom, tugging on her hand.
"Sure! But don't you want to check out the rooms on the first floor first?" Jiwoo suggested, and Woojae readily agreed. Their parents followed closely, and Miri joined the group as they caught up.
Jiwoo took her family on a tour of the 1st and 2nd floors. On the 2nd floor, they unexpectedly ran into Shotaro in the hallway.
"Shotaro!" Jiwoo's mom greeted him warmly.
"Good afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Shim! Hello to you, Woojae!" Shotaro said cheerfully as he ruffled the young boy's hair. "Are you having fun exploring our school?" he asked Woojae.
"Yes! The classrooms are so fun!" Woojae replied, making everyone happy to see the young boy excited about everything at school.
"Mom, you should really check out our room. It's at the end of the hallway," Jiwoo suggested and guided her family toward their classroom. Just in time, Mars Club was preparing for their second gig.
Wonbin spotted Jiwoo from the stage and jumped off to greet her, not realizing that her parents were there. "Jiwoo, where have you been?" he asked, only stopping when he felt several pairs of eyes staring at him.
"Wow, he is so handsome," Miri commented. Wonbin turned to them and saw her parents with a familiar expression. He anxiously greeted them with a smile before asking Jiwoo about them.
"My parents, my younger brother, my best friend," Jiwoo quickly explained. Wonbin apologized for his earlier actions, and Seunghan joined in, playfully smacking Wonbin's head.
"I told you to stay on the stage—" Seunghan stopped when everyone seemed shocked by his words. "Oh, sorry! Sorry!" he apologized repeatedly.
"These are my parents, my younger brother, and my best friend," Jiwoo reiterated. She was worried about how her parents might perceive her friendship with the boys.
"Dear... You didn't mention you have such handsome friends," her mom said, smiling meaningfully at Seunghan and Wonbin. The comment boosted their spirits, especially Seunghan, who immediately introduced himself.
Jiwoo stepped between her friends and her parents. "They are my friends, Mom, not models."
"Well, actually I was a hair model—" Seunghan started to say but stopped when Jiwoo glared at him. "Yes, right. We're going to perform! HA HA HA," he let out a forced laugh before dragging Wonbin away.
When the boys left, Jiwoo looked at her dad, who was smiling the whole time. "Dad?"
"Who among them?" her dad asked, making Jiwoo feel embarrassed. She understood what he meant and waved her hand dismissively. "No, no, no. They are just friends... FRIENDS," she emphasized.
"There's my baby girl," a familiar voice chimed in as Eunseok walked towards her with a golden crown on his head.
"BABY GIRL?!" her mom gasped, blushing as she processed the fact that her daughter was surrounded by handsome guys. "Oh, gosh, honey. What if we put Woojae here... will he become as handsome as these guys?"
"Mom! Stop, you're embarrassing me!" Jiwoo whined.
"Mom? Oh," Eunseok turned to Mrs. Shim and took her hand to give it a soft peck. "It's my pleasure to meet you, madame," he smiled. "My apologies for calling your precious daughter 'my baby girl.' How dare I dream of owning someone like her."
"You can take her," her dad joked, pushing Jiwoo towards Eunseok. Jiwoo was furious and pushed Eunseok away, grumbling at her parents.
"Baby girl—" Eunseok tried to call her again, enjoying teasing her in front of her parents.
"One more with that stupid nickname, I swear to God!" Jiwoo snapped, her face beet red. She bit her lips, heaved a sigh, and stormed off.
Eunseok was left with her parents in an awkward situation. He laughed a bit but eventually apologized for teasing their daughter. "I am sorry for being rude," he said.
"Oh, it's fine," her mom was cool about it. "We like to tease her wherever we go because of her reactions," the woman snorted. "Right, honey?" She asked her husband, who was scanning Eunseok from head to toe.
"You look oddly familiar," Mr. Shim said.
"Oh, I am Song Eunseok," Eunseok answered, dipping his head.
"Are you the son of Mr. Song Jaeyook?" Mr. Shim asked, and Eunseok lifted his head and confirmed. However, his expectations took a downturn when Mr. Shim bowed to him instead. "My apologies, sir. I am Shim Sangyeob, I work as one of the clerks in your company."
This unusual situation left Eunseok feeling uncomfortable. He couldn't help but think that seeing someone's father bow to him in his school was wrong. Eunseok gently pushed Mr. Shim to stand straight.
"Sir, please, I am not my dad. I am just a student here. I happen to know your daughter, and I have no intentions of hurting her," Eunseok stammered, looking for assistance as everyone began to view him differently.
"How can I not show my respect? I almost got laid off—" Mr. Shim was cut off when Mrs. Shim covered his mouth. She then apologized to Eunseok for the inconvenience before she led her family out of sight. Miri helped Mrs. Shim find a spot where they could relax for a bit. Miri kept Woojae away from the adults' conversation, but she continued to listen to their discussion.

World Bee Day
Support bee conservation by donating or purchasing from companies that work to save these crucial members of the ecosystem, or start your own bee hive.
Lately, the concerns about bees being endangered have become widely noted among people all over the world, but information on how to take action about it has become scarce in this age.
That’s why World Bee Day exists to educate people about the importance of bees and how they can help preserve them for the sake of the future. If you want to help save these fuzzy insects from extinction, then read down below to find out what World Bee Day is about!
History of World Bee Day
World Bee Day corresponds with an important influencer in the pioneering of beekeeping. Anton Janša, who in the 18th century pioneered modern beekeeping techniques in his native Slovenia, was one of the first people to help bring about the importance of bees in the world environment.
Since then, beekeeping has become a vital necessity in the world’s ecosystems and economic systems. However, not many people realize the importance of bees or know how to help save the bees, which led to the announcement of World Bee Day through the United Nations.
The United Nations designated World Bee Day to raise awareness of the importance of bees. Bees are under a continuous threat from human activity, which includes the introduction of invasive insects, pesticides, land-use change, and monocropping practices, which have continuously been destroying bee colonies over time.
World Bee Day helps educate people about the importance of bees and what they do for the environment, which includes how they help grow 90% of the world’s wildflower plants, 35% of the world’s crops depend on bees to grow, and how they help build ecosystems all over the world. With these statistics, the United Nations has created various programs all over the world to increase awareness of protecting bees and what you can do to help this cause.
This day is also open to other pollinators as well as bees, like bats, hummingbirds, and butterflies. Together these essential animals help keep ecosystems healthy and maintain biodiversity. Bees and other creatures also help us fight problems on a global level, like world hunger and helping to adapt to climate change. These fantastic fuzzy creatures help keep our plants and our planet alive.
If you look at bees as creatures, they are a fascinating insect even without all the services they provide for us. For instance, the phrase bee’s knees makes absolutely no sense, because bees actually don’t have knees. Bees also communicate by dancing – can you imagine if humans didn’t talk and only communicated via the medium of dance? If you consider honey as well, it has also been used as an antiseptic and treatment for burns and wounds for centuries.
Bees have been around for thousands of years, and the very first bee found was 100 million years old! Bees might also have been the very first species to decide to go vegetarian. Originally, our fuzzy friends used to eat other insects, but they evolved to eat nectar and pollen instead. Bees have long supported us, humans with honey being a monumental discovery for our ancestors (it must have been tough for them to gather!).
From sweetening food to dressing wounds, we loved honey so much that our children are still named after bees. Names like Melissa and Ali mean bee in Greek and Urdu, showing that across the world, we share a global appreciation for bees.
World Bee Day Timeline
13000-8000 BC People get honey from wild bees
Enjoying the sought after sweetness of honey and usefulness of wax, people climb ladders to reach the nests of wild bees.
200 AD Bee hives in Ancient Egypt
With bees that may have been more aggressive, beekeepers approach the hives with shaven heads to prevent the bees from reacting to the perfumed oils used in the hair.
1621 Beehives are sent to the colonies
To help the people of the colonies survive, supplies that include beehives are sent on ships from London to Virginia.
2006 Colony Collapse Disorder is first reported
Beekeepers begin reporting high losses where adult bees literally just disappear from the hive, leaving the queen and immature bees inadequately attended to.
2008 The Secret Life of Bees film is released
Based on a book of the same name by Sue Monk Kidd and set in the 1960s southern US, this movie stars Dakota Fanning as a young girl who runs away in search of her mother.
How to Celebrate World Bee Day
If you want to do more, find a charity that helps towards bee conservation, and donate through there. Many bee charities offer their own merchandise, which goes directly back into their profits, like bee jewelry or clothing.
Why not purchase your own Bee Tee or give your loved ones a unique bee necklace to share the love? Many bee charities also arrange their own events, awareness campaigns, and particular ways of donating, so why not support a charity near you to show support for our buzzing buddies.
Start a garden and place with a full arrangement of fruits, vegetables, and flowers that you know bees would like. Only have limited space? If you have a balcony or terrace, you can buy nectar-bearing flowers and pot them in your available area for both decorative and bee-saving purposes.
Plants like sunflowers, poppy, and our much-loved food favorites like thyme, dill, and fennel are perfect for pollinators. You can even create a pollination station for bees in your garden or outdoor space to benefit from. Make a friendly environment for bees, butterflies, and any local pollinators to help their habitats.
Looking to be more proactive about how you purchase your food? Go to a local beekeeper and buy honey from them. You could go for honey and many other hive products. Talking to a local beekeeper will also help you find suitable ways to keep your garden or outdoor space a bee-friendly environment.
Avoiding harmful pesticides will keep pollinators happy, and if you have to spray anything, doing so in the morning or late at night will ensure that your bees don’t get caught in the crossfire. If you’re lucky enough to have a larger outdoor space that’s filled with wildflowers, keeping part of it preserved will mean that your bees have the perfect natural environment to enjoy.
If you’re looking for a way to help raise awareness of bee endangerment, then share and spread the news about World Bee Day through social media.

In the first months of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, TikTok was flooded with hashtags such as #RussiaForward or all sorts of letter Z combinations. Young bloggers praised Vladimir Putin's wisdom, expressed their admiration for Kadyrov and tried to convince their subscribers that the sanctions were ineffective. The Insider suspected that much of this content was being distributed for money and ran “background checks” on TikTokers who seemed particularly patriotic. It turned out that a video on a particular topic cost approximately 100 euros. The TikTokers themselves had little understanding of what it was they were being hired for, and for the specified price they were prepared to promote any agenda, even the most absurd one, for which The Insider promised to pay, posing as a customer on behalf of the Kremlin.
From the very beginning, Pro-Kremlin content on TikTok stood out not only because of its volume, but also because it sharply contrasted with the usual content for a generally apolitical social network - not to mention the fact that TikTok is the “youngest” social network (76 percent of the audience is under 25), and there are few sincere supporters of the authorities in this demographic. According to the NewsGuard agency, the algorithms showed fakes about Ukraine even to users who had just registered or had never been interested in the military conflict before. The service's statistics shows that in the first few months, TikToks with the hashtags #zanashih (for ours) and #mnestydno (I’m ashamed) have garnered more than 2 billion views. TikToks promoting the Wagner PMC collected another billion views.
The videos posted by blogger Yulia Pyatnikovskaya about how well Russia is doing without European food and resorts have been garnering millions of views. It is difficult to judge how many of the viewers are real people, but most of the commentators have the Russian flag on their avatars.
The blogger agreed to post a “patriotic” video for 7,000 rubles. According to Yulia, that's how much her other works with similar content cost. The only condition was that “the video should not be very harsh”.
As practice has shown, Yulia does not care what exactly she has to convey to her audience and whether there is any internal logic to it. A correspondent of The Insider suggested that Yulia post a video saying it was not the generals but pro-state bloggers like Anton Krasovsky who were to blame for the retreat of the Russian troops (the “test purchase operation” was conducted shortly after the event). The girl admitted that she didn’t really follow the events and asked for an explanation “from our government's point of view” of what exactly was happening at the front. And then she took initiative and read the articles “in one of the news feeds, which is now recognized as extremist,” and realized that the news about the withdrawal of troops “pointed people in the wrong direction.” Yulia tried to write a script but could not figure out how to blame bloggers for the army's retreat. Then she proposed a video in which she said that the Russian troops withdrew from Kyiv not because they surrendered, but to organize a humanitarian corridor.
Yulia refused to accept the full payment for the order until the restrictions on uploading content to TikTok were lifted, so the video was never published on her feed. In April, she stopped posting videos to the social network altogether.
Not everyone is willing to make politicized content. “We've already been asked. Our bloggers don't want to film such content, they are afraid of being blocked,” Yegor Charushin, producer of one of the TikTok groups, refused to post a patriotic video.
There were also those who asked for a fee several times higher than usual. For example, the manager of a blogger with one and a half million subscribers, Danil Zhandarmov, asked 40,000 rubles instead of the usual 5,000 for a politically innocuous video about the Ukrainian army being weaker than the Russian one. He blamed the content of the video for the difference in prices.
Yura Khomich, the 19-year-old owner of a small TikTok agency, turned out to be more cooperative. He was given the task of responding to a publication about Putin bathing in reindeer blood by explaining that it was normal and that other Soviet leaders had done so too. The main argument is the phrase “it is common knowledge that Stalin and Lenin bathed in blood”. The bloggers were not confused, and they agreed to put up the video for the price of several thousand rubles. Only one TtikToker refused, explaining that he “didn’t know how to present” the topic.
A few weeks later the bloggers removed the videos we had ordered from their accounts, as well as other content in support of the Russian authorities.
The Insider also experimented with even more ridiculous technical tasks. One of them was to post a video with the “sensational” idea that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “is actually Jewish” and that his real last name is Bayraktar. Several TikTokers agreed to produce such a video, such as Maryna Bespalova, who had published videos about Zelensky before. She questioned the content of the video only after completing the task.
After Russia invaded Ukraine, TikTok limited the app’s functionality for Russian users. Bloggers from Russia were banned from posting videos and live broadcasting. The Chinese company explained this by the existence of the law on fakes. Because of the bans, TikTok’s customary user feed changed. While previously the algorithms offered users videos based on their known interests (with new users being offered videos based on common interests such as kittens, makeovers and epic fails), now military and patriotic propaganda filled the screens. This was confirmed by social media researchers: if before the ban, there was approximately equal number of pro-war and antiwar videos, after the ban 93.5% of war-related content turned into propaganda. This is still the case: most Russian users' feeds are based on old videos, and they are shown content uploaded back in February or March or even earlier.
To get around the TikTok ban, bloggers started using VPNs. They used it to change the visible location by rerouting traffic through a server in another country. However, because of the social network's algorithms, these new videos could only be seen by users who were also using a VPN. “There is indeed a way to upload new videos to bypass restrictions, but it's worth remembering that you do it under a VPN, which means your videos are only seen by those users who also have it enabled,” explained Semyon Yefimov, the author of the Russian Marketing Telegram channel. Such new videos and content from other countries can sometimes be seen by users from Russia: Tracking Exposed researchers believe that the platform’s “shadow promotion” is responsible, because the social network has not officially changed its stance. According to the analysts, in order to see political content from other countries, a user usually only needs to subscribe to the relevant account. According to The Insider, TikTok algorithms rely on thematic and political trends and select relevant content even from old videos. For example, when bloggers Yulik and Dasha Kaplan, who had been popular on TikTok, announced their divorce in the summer of 2022, old videos of them were added to the feed, even though no new videos about the divorce itself could be found in the feed.
Not all bloggers have adapted to the new realities - there are 8 times fewer new videos. According to Brand Analytics, the number of authors increased in March, but then started falling rapidly down to 45,000 in September – that number had been 300,000 at the beginning of the year. However, since TikTok users mostly watch videos picked up by algorithms, the social network's audience has not declined. According to the Mediascope research, every day about a quarter of Russians over 12 spend time on TikTok. Only Facebook and Instagram, both declared extremist in Russia back in March, saw a dramatic decrease in their audience, as Russians apparently switched to Telegram and VKontakte. Some influencers from TikTok also moved to those social networks.
This is not the first time that TikTok has been flooded with political content. During the protests in Myanmar in early 2021, people in military and police uniforms posted videos that threatened protesters with death. Content from anti-vaxxers was also a problem for TikTok. Back then, the company banned the use of certain words in posts. For example, users were blocked for mentioning blood. Russian feminists talking about menstruation had to contrive new ways to spell the word, such as “krov”. TikTok had already been banning individual accounts for violating the restrictions. However, a complete ban on posting videos for all users in a certain territory was applied for the first time.

Bookshelf wrapped
A list of books I've read in 2023 for statistical and archival purposes and also because I like to catalog things (and tumblr let me down by not having a year in review this year).
If any of my followers would feel inspired to do a similar thing please tag me, I'd love to see what you've read!
Służące do wszystkiego, Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak. I love reading the first-hands accounts of history, esp from regular/lower class people. So it's worth to read just for it. There was something lacking for it to be a really good reportage tbh.
Fire and Blood, George R.R. Martin. Really nice if you're an asoiafhead. Can't really recommend to someone who hadn't read asoiaf before. Also I wish GRRM would focus on finishing the saga instead of starting new projects. But can't really blame him for pursuing side stories.
Into Thin Air, Jon Krakauer. Keep thinking about that redditor guy who said this book inspired him to try and prepare to climb Mount Everest in one year. Maybe reddit pisses on poor even more than tumblr.
Dune Messiah, Frank Herbert. I must say that of (5) Dune books I've read so far, this has the higher amount of what I consider Dune's fatal flaws. Mostly unnecessarily convoluted dialogues that end up being borderline incomprehensible. It also underutilizes very interesting characters, like Scytale and Mohiam. I would give extra points for Paul's ending, but then I've read Children of Dune.
The True Deceiver, Tove Jansson. Just fine. Even better if you like winter.
Children of Dune, Frank Herbert. Way better than Messiah, can't hold a candle to the original Dune. I feel like some stuff was retconned in this part, concerning Alia's and the twins' abilities. Esp. Alia's arc could use more foundation set in the previous parts.
God-Emperor of Dune, Frank Herbert. Still not as good as the original Dune, but what a beautiful wild ride. So many cool ideas and characters, including the answer to the question 'would you love me if I were a worm', Idk why the people say it's not adaptable to the screen, I know exactly how I would direct the movie. I wasn't born a nepo baby so you will probably never see this, sadly.
Uncle Vanya, Anton Chekhov. I saw a really good performance before reading the play so it probably influenced my rating. Good read for ugly girls who pull no bitches.
The Last Question, Isaac Asimov. Clever.
Girl, interrupted, Susanna Kaysen. Good read for mentally ill and probably ugly girls.
Other voices, other rooms, Truman Capote. Loved how the climate was painted, and I'd say the way it was written, but I've read the translation. So I liked the translator's way with words I guess.
Dracula, Bram Stoker. Jonathan's diary at the beginning is crazy, scary and overall amazing, but sadly it's the highest point of the novel and the rest doesn't live up to the hype. It's still good and it nice to compare how some motives evolved in the popculture.
Chłopki. Opowieść o naszych babkach, Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak. Again, I absolutely loved the primary sources used in this book. And it's in fact rare to see some memoirs by the women of the lowest of low classes. But other then the sources, Idk.
Heretics of Dune, Frank Herbert. The issues of Messiah are back. Can we let go of Duncan at last. Honored Matres as a concept are questionable/laughable. I wanted to ask on Dune subreddit if anyone else thinks Teg and Patrin were gay for each other but they removed my ask, so I'm just gonna believe this on my own.
The Crucible, Arthur Miller. Very good. I have some issues with the character of Abigail and how she compares to the historical Abigail though.
Things fall apart, Chinua Achebe. Crazy good. I kept changing my mind on what I like the most about the book as I read it. In the end I think what I liked the most was giving a perspective of the people who didn't fit with the traditional society.
Śniła się sowa, Ewa Ostrowska. Raw, disgusting, unsettling portrayal of a small, closed off countryside society, and its violence. As small, closed off countryside societies are one of my biggest fears, I loved (?? appreciated) this book.
Owoc żywota twego, Ewa Ostrowska. As above, but even more disgusting and unsettling. Dead Dove Do Not Eat, but if you're fully ready for what awaits you, it's a good read.
Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad. Actually good.
Kiss of the Spider Woman, Manuel Puig. Very cool idea for the book structure (dialogue-only, two inmates try to pass time, one recounts to the other the movies he had seen). But the story itself isn't bad also.
Dungeon Meshi, Ryouko Kui. Beautiful! Heartwrenching! Heals your depression! Elf twinks! Extremely thought out worldbuilding and a consistent, planned out story. Love to see it.
I don't include the manga I've read that are ongoing (or I hadn't finished them).

Ukrainian military officials on Wednesday said that nine Russian warplanes on the Crimean Peninsula were destroyed, but Ukraine has still not officially taken credit for the action.
Explosive attacks at the Saki air base in Crimea were worse than described by the Kremlin, The New York Times reported, with Russia's defense ministry initially stating that no equipment had been destroyed and no casualties occurred. Videos have purportedly showed more damage than Russian officials have acknowledged.
In social media posts on Facebook and Telegram, the Ukrainian Air Force displayed wartime statistics since the conflict began February 24—adding that the "nine invader planes" are included. Totals since the war's inception include the destruction of 232 Russian aircraft and 193 helicopters.
Russia said Wednesday that none of its aircraft had been impacted or destroyed, according to the Associated Press, and it did not acknowledge any attack on its fleet. However, The New York Times reported that the Kremlin-installed leader of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, declared a state of emergency after dozens of nearby homes and commercial structures were hit, leading to over 250 displaced residents.
Newsweek Newsletter sign-up >
A senior Ukrainian military official also reportedly said Wednesday that Ukraine's special forces—in addition to local partisan resistance fighters loyal to the government in Kyiv—were responsible.
The newest reported attack comes on the heels of days of air-based back-and-forth strikes between both nations' militaries as weapons aid from the United States in the form of U.S.-made HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems) have successfully connected with Russian targets.
Anton Gerashchenko, advisor to the minister of internal affairs of Ukraine, tweeted satellite images of the Saki airfield in Crimea that reportedly "show that more than 30 planes and helicopters were there before the explosion, worth more than $1 billion in total."
The replacement of them would take over 18 months even without sanctions, he added.
"Seems like no chance that a single plane remained intact. The impact of the yesterday's explosion is no less than the destruction of the cruiser Moskva. Dozens of warplanes will no longer be able to drop bombs and missiles on us," Gerashchenko tweeted Wednesday.
The Russian flagship Moskva cruiser was struck with a missile by Ukrainian forces in April, ultimately causing it to sink. It was then described by a former adviser of President Vladimir Putin as a "very, very painful blow" for the Russian military, both in terms of its fleet and symbolism.
On Wednesday, the Russian state-owned news agency RIA Novosti referenced a Russian defense ministry report saying that Ukraine's 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade "lost its combat capability" following airstrikes near the settlement of Peski in the Donbas region.
"Up to 70 percent of the personnel were destroyed in the units of the formation," the report included, according to an English translation. "Most of the Ukrainian citizens mobilized to make up for the losses of the brigade refused to advance to the line of contact and deserted."

Finally, something usual to deal with.
Who accidentally sets something on fire? Really all depends on the situation, where and when, but statistically? Oddly, it's Trent. Not, like, on purpose, but even though he can make every single type of coffee in Hayley's café and is marginally alright with just baked goods and simple breakfast items he's made a thousand times, there are still times when Dr. Oliver ends up chastising the both of them for a turkey or ham left in the oven for too long and neither of them realizing that you never add water to a grease fire. Conner sometimes tries to take the hit for the house being filled with smoke like a set piece in a shitty HBO drama, but Trent has too many guilt tells. Conner sometimes stands too close to pretty fireworks on holidays, though. If the "something" includes himself. How do they comfort each other when they are helpless to do anything about the situation? In moments of anxiety and depression and just being filled to the brim with bad-bad-bitter thoughts that Trent can't get rid of from his time being evil and unable to do much of anything about it, or Conner waking in the night to terrors about Mesagog returning to tear himself out of his Anton's skin to consume everyone they've ever cared about, or having an emotional breakdown over accidentally breaking a pen and being unable to stop crying (which they have both done on entirely separate events); there is just the option of calling each other up on the phone to hear the other's voice. Or tucking into bed before nightfall just to hold onto a familiar, warm body. Or sex--sex is maybe not the healthiest coping mechanism, but it's understandable. Who would be the one to kill zombies while the other keeps them grounded? Trent goes feral enough to burn out from exhaustion in destroying the undead; Conner feeds and cares and loves. If they were both vampires, what types of vampires would they be? Both survive in daylight hours. Trent can face a Christian Cross, holy water, and garlic; Conner can face running water, see himself in reflections, and take a stake to the heart. Due to considerations for their former lives, neither drink the blood of humans, but order fresh blood of animals from butcher shops that they also use in baking normal foods if ever they have guests over. Neither of them can turn into bats, but Conner can turn into a very large red dingo and Trent can turn into a Blue Mountain's Panther.

Mechaniacs - Kirin Jindosh x OC - Chapter III
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary The story of Dr. Addison Lynch, a neuroscientist who played an important role in the past and will again in the future. (fic from 2017) _________________________________________________ tags: unethical medicine, blood, violence, neurology, neuroscience, dishonored universe usual type of stuff, first person _________________________________________________ ao3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/8598001/chapters/19733941#workskin
Grand Inventor Kirin Jindosh. Owner of the well known clockwork mansion and former student of Anton Sokolov. One of 4 persons I had on my list of people I definitely wanted to meet. Dr Hypatia was already checked and Sokolov, too, since I worked with him on the cure for the plague. But Jindosh was different. We share a fact that changed our whole careers: banned from the Academy for life, for reasons that are still not public. Well at least Jinoshs‘, mine spread around like a second plague. 24 hours were enough and everyone in Dunwall knew what I had done and I was ”asked nicely“ to leave the city. The last person on the list was Delilah Copperspoon. Great artist, twisted mind, but surely great for inspiration, but now, sitting on the throne, harder to reach then ever.
It probably would take some time before Emily would come back and I would be able to interrogate her about everything and the clockwork mansion. I sighed ”I wish I could be there.“ I heard he developed mechanical soldiers, way more impressive than the Tallboys were, they work completely without human interaction. Imagine the opportunities: Give them the ability to feel or to learn by themselves. Learning to react properly in conversations, giving advice based on statistics or based on intuition. And so much more.
I decided to spent the time on cleaning, drying and sorting my notes and things I had in the backpack and there was still the hand issue, that had to be taken of.  Most of the punch cards were ruined, but I was able to copy them almost identically with some old tools I found in the workshop. Unfortunately half of my written notes were completely ruined. The ones that weren‘t made out of ink survived, but it weren‘t many. I let them fall between my legs on the ground and grabbed the pillow next to me just to scream in it for a minute: ”HALF A YEAR OF WORK R U I N E D!“ and then indistinct screaming. How am I supposed to reproduce all correlates and possible causalities without any evidence and notes? I didn‘t know if I would be able to continue my studies now, after all that happened. All the evidences and no corpses. I doubt that Emily would bring me one. She did mention that she needs me for something and maybe I could ask her for a favor, but I guess being here and alive is favor enough. I stood up and moved to the window, it must be around 2 p.m. I could see Serkonos from here. Even if I wanted to leave „Where would I go?“  Not back to Addermire, not back to Dunwall. Maybe there was a university here in Serkonos. I could fake some of my papers, change my name, get my hand fixed...I stared on my flesh lump. I knew enough about anatomy to tell that it would be tough task for a skilled surgeon and impossible for me, even if I wouldn‘t be on this ship and had my tools and laboratory. „Maybe I should just...“ No. I observed my former hand. Chopping it off wasn‘t an option. But the pain will be back soon.
I leaned out of the window, a pleasant breeze, my hair brushing my face. If that one subject hadn‘t been escaped, everything would have been different. My stomach announced with a loud noise it was time to eat, I totally forgot.  I got comfortable in the bed with the loaf of bread. After eating it up and washing down a few more pain killers, I fell asleep.
I woke at 2 am, someone was screaming in pain. It was me. My hand was hot and I felt my own heartbeat in it. I removed the bandage and inspected it. From my top of fingers down to the wrist it was pitch black. I just stared at it, unable to move, not knowing what to do, when it started to melt. Thick black liquid, running down my arm, burning everything in its way. „Addison, wake up!“ It wasn‘t me screaming, it was someone else. A man. And the person who just had woken me up was Emily. „We need your help. Come.“ This was clearly and order.
She guided me into the next room, where Sokolov was convulsed in pain on the couch. „What happened?“ „Doesn‘t matter now, help him! „I am a neuroscientist not a internist.“ „I don‘t care and if you want to stay on this boat and not be thrown into the ocean right now, you do the best you can to help him.“ That was pretty clear. I found some health elixirs, some flowers and herbs on the table next to him. The herbs wouldn‘t be strong enough. I removed the elixir and poured it into a beaker, went back to my room and crushed a few of the painkillers, added them and heated the mixture up until it was dissolved. Emily was watching the whole time. „I am going to need more of those“ I showed her the painkillers „there won‘t enough in a few days.“ She nodded.  I poured the mixture back into its original vascular, sat down next to Sokolov and injected a bit. It seemed to work. The loud moaning and screaming changed into softer tones and deeper breaths. I turned around and saw Emily standing with the back to me facing Meagen, who entered a few seconds ago, so I took a sip. It was pretty strong.
„What do you mean, you don‘t know where to put him?“ „We don‘t have enough space Emily. Besides someone should watch him. I thought about putting him outside or in the machine room, but honestly I am sure he will just rip out something he can reach and build a clockwork soldier right here, from scratch“ Did she, did Emily...Were they talking about Jindosh? Of course. I sure as hell would volunteer to babysit him all day and all night.  „Put him in her room.“ „Are you sure about that? I mean Emily, both of them are batshit crazy. One slightly more then the other, no offense though“ Well she wasn‘t wrong: „None taken. I will take him, honestly I thought about running, but this thing“ I held up my blood lump „and I shouldn‘t go anywhere anytime soon.“ Emily nodded „You don‘t really argue in your favor, but it‘s not like we have a choice anyway...Fine, but put some handcuffs on him, don‘t put him near anything small and metallic he could reach, to crack them. The door will be open all the time and windows closed at night. Someone will check at least every 2 hours if everything is fine. “ Meagen nodded "Maybe we shoulf hancuff her, too?" Emily examined me "No. She knows what will happen if she tries anything." Meagen left.
„Addison, is that really you?“ Sokolov seemed to have woken up. „In flesh and blood.“ Emily was at my side shortly after she heard him and he smiled at her, before he fell asleep. „How is he?“ „He is fine and will probably recover. I quick checked him for internal and external wounds, but it doesn‘t seem to be that bad. Give him a few days, maybe a week.“ „Thank you!“ She sounded relieved and took his hand. I gave her the elixir and left. She wasn't right. I didn't know what exactly would happen, if I tried something, but I also wasn't eager to find out.
