Thanks! I’ve been making gifs for about 2 years, so I’m by no means a pro. Sometimes it feels like I’m just throwing things at the video until it looks the way I want it to look.

I didn’t use any guides, so it took a lot of trial and error to learn. Just to compare, here’s the first gif I ever made!

My advice for starting to get into gif-making is, you gotta really choose a media or character you love because the process is time consuming and it can be frustrating if it doesn't end up the way you wanted right away. Plus, you’re gonna stare at the same picture for like a loooong time. Over time, I’ve gotten a lot faster at making sets. Like that killua x start over gifset only took me an hour to make, but I barely edited that one. I normally spend a few days on each set.
I still don’t completely get photoshop, so I don’t feel like I can give a tutorial for it. But I do make a lot of gifs on my phone so here’s a more in depth look at that.
For starters, I always get video footage in 1080P. Either download or record the footage you want to turn into gifs. I’m gonna use Killua as an example. Here’s a picture of what the clip looks like before I’ve done anything.

I find that the shorter the clip, the easier it is to make it smooth and crisp. This clip is only 5 seconds long. I try to keep my clips 5 seconds or shorter. I can do longer clips, but then I’d have to shorten the frames used and the speed of the gif (frames per second), which I don’t like doing. Next, I crop it. You want to crop before you start editing.

After that, I can start recoloring. There’s a couple good apps I like using for this. VideoDay and InShot are pretty good, but they’re pay to use. The free one Apple provides in the photos app is good, too. I’ve got a different coloring style for most of my sets. But I mainly focus on making dark colors darker, making colors more saturated so they pop, and brightening the video. On VideoDay & Inshot you can find this setting under Filter. Then go to Adjust. This is what it looks like after boosting up the contrast, saturation, brightness, shadows, and definition. Mess around with different settings until you come up with something you like.

Now, I recolor it a second time with filters. Sometimes I use Inshot or VideoDay, but I mostly use the app ImgPlay. ImgPlay is what I’ll be using to actually turn this video into a gif. I use different filters depending on what colors I want to stand out. CL2 and HW3 are a couple favorites. For this set I use HW3. Then I added more contrast, saturation, and sharpened it as high as it could go.

Now that it looks pretty, time to make it move smoothly. Through a lot of trial and error, I’ve found that these settings work okay. I have it set to 90 frames for this clip. For frames, I usually try to keep it within 80-90 frames (or 30-80 if it’s a shorter clip). If I push it past that, like say 100 frames, it’ll start to look blurry once I condense it.

For speed, I either use .04 seconds or .05 seconds. For frames per second, I always go with 20 FPS at least. This will push up the frame count, so you’ll need to make the clip shorter. You can do that by using the slide bar or that little area with 9 squares in the top right corner.

Now it’s time to export! Just click on save and GIF size. Set the loop to infinity and size to 10 MB. Tumblr has a limit on GIF size, so it needs to be 10MB or under. You can also click on GIF dithering to make the colors blend a bit more.

And we’re done! Hope it wasn’t too confusing and that I explained myself clearly! There’s a lot more cool effects you can do once you get the hang of video editing. This is by no means a strict guide or anything! Heck, even I don’t follow this exactly and I try changing things around, seeing what works and what doesn’t. Gif-making can be super fun, so I hope you keep at it! 😊💖

okay so the wifi i'm on right now is shitting itself despite this being a popular study spot on campus but REGARDLESS i'm studying for my third organic chemistry midterm right now (my class grade is a 90.2% so i'm barely hovering around an A and i'd REALLY like to keep it that way as unrealistic as that may be) and as much as i am absolutely loving this class i'm struggling a little with remembering all of the mechanisms (final exam review sheet posted by professor indicates 40 different reactions we need to know).
granted, a lot of them share the same patterns, but i don't know what format i'll need to compare-contrast all of them in in order to have them down pat for may 2. so right now i'm just focusing on this exam, where we've gotta know
radical substitution of alkanes and allylic substitution, the funky alkyl halide ones with the fishhook arrows. the simplified mechanism looks like halogenation except these are done with heat/light. these go through three stages: initiation from nonradical to radical, propagation from radical to radical, and termination from radical to nonradical. you get your radical intermediate via homolytic cleavage, you react it with a hydrogen coming off of the most substituted carbon, you get your next radical intermediate once the hydrogen is gone, you react all your radicals together to tie things up nicely. if your radical is on a carbon that neighbors a double bond, you have a nice stable allylic radical (thank you resonance), but if your radical is on a double bond, that's a vinyl radical and we don't like those... you also gotta pay attention to where your alkene is because that'll affect your stability too. if you're happening to do your reaction with peroxides, you'll be reacting your intermediate with the less substituted area. a halogen? on MY terminal end?

Sampai saat ini sampah atau limbah masih menjadi salah satu masalah kritis yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat Indonesia. Dari sekian banyak sampah, sampah rumah tangga merupakan sampah yang paling banyak dihasilkan oleh masyarakat Indonesia dan menjadi penyebab kerusakan lingkungan terbesar. Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) mencatat, jumlah sampah di Indonesia mencapai 21,88 juta ton pada 2021. Berdasarkan sumbernya, rumah tangga menyumbang paling banyak terhadap sampah nasional.

Sampah atau limbah rumah tangga adalah sampah yang berasal dari kegiatan sehari-hari di rumah tangga. Salah satu jenis sampah yang dihasilkan oleh rumah tangga adalah sampah pembalut.  Pembalut merupakan alat sanitasi yang sudah tidak asing lagi bagi perempuan. Pembalut bagi wanita merupakan kebutuhan utama saat siklus menstruasi terjadi pada setiap bulan. Pembalut sekali pakai dapat dengan mudah ditemukan, praktis dan memiliki harga yang terjangkau sehingga mayoritas perempuan di Indonesia menggunakan pembalut sekali pakai sebagai alat sanitasi saat menstruasi. Namun, penggunaan pembalut sekali pakai ini memberikan efek yang tidak baik untuk lingkungan dikarenakan mengandung berbagai macam jenis bahan yang kurang ramah lingkungan.
Rata-rata wanita menggunakan pembalut sebanyak 4-5 sekali pakai dalam sehari. Dalam setahun dapat diperkirakan terdapat 300 pembalut per orang. Dalam seumur hidupnya, setiap wanita menggunakan lebih dari 16.000 pembalut, tampon atau pantyliners yang dapat diperkirakan terdapat 45 juta limbah yang wanita gunakan dan dibuang setiap tahunnya. Sampah pembalut di Indonesia mencapai 26 ton per hari. Dalam hal ini, sampah pembalut sekali pakai akan berakhir di TPA yang akan bercampur dengan sampah lainnya dan membutuhkan waktu ratusan tahun untuk dapat terdegradasi.
Apa Kandungan Bahan pada Pembalut Kimia Sekali Pakai?

- Chlorine (Cl2) yaitu Klor berbentuk gas berwarna kuning kehijauan. Klorin banyak digunakan di dalam pembuatan kertas, antiseptik, bahan pewarna, makanan, insektisida, cat lukisan, produk-produk minyak bumi, plastik, obat-obatan, tekstil, pelarut, dan produk lainnya. Klorin biasanya digunakan sebagai pembunuh kuman. Seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi bahan klorin digunakan dalam pembuatan pembalut  agar pembalut tersebut berwarna putih bersih Klorin dalam suhu kamar berbentuk gas dan termasuk unsur golongan halogen (Golongan VII) yang memiliki sifat sangat reaktif dan merupakan oksidator kuat yang mudah bereaksi dengan berbagai unsur. - Phthalates adalah ester pada asam phtalat yang digunakan sebagai plasticizer (zat ditambahkan ke plastik untuk meningkatkan fleksibilitas dan daya tahan). - Herbisida merupakan salah satu bahan kimia yang sering digunakan oleh para petani untuk mematikan tanaman pengganggu. Kata herbisida berasal dari kata “herba” yang berarti gulma dan “sida” yang berarti membunuh jika disatukan menjadi herbisida, berarti zat herbisida ialah zat kimiawi yang dapat mematikan gulma.  - Styrene merupakan suatu senyawa yang termasuk kedalam kelompok aromatic monomer tak jenuh. Wujud dan penampakan fisik styrene pada suhu dan tekanan ruang yaitu cairan tak berwarna dengan bau khas aromatic kuat. Senyawa ini tidak dapat dilarutkan dengan air namun dapat dilarut dengan methanol, eter dan etil alcohol. Produk styrene adalah dasar dalam pembuatan zat antara atau senyawa kimia lainnya seperti, Polystyrene, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, Impact Polystyrene Rubber, Styrene Butadiene Rubber, dan Unsaturated Polyester Resin. Styrene juga yang terdapat dalam kandungan material styrofoam.  - Chloromethane. Secara alami, Chloromethane terdapat pada lautan, dimana terjadi reaksi dari sinar matahari dan biomassa terhadap Chloride yang terkandung pada buih air laut.Sedangkan, Chloromethane yang pada saat ini dikenal adalah dengan mereaksikan Methanol dan Hydrogen Chloride. Dengan perkembangan teknologi dalam industri kimia, saat ini Chloromethane digunakan pada industri Silicone, Refrigerant, pembuatan Methyl Cellulose, dan lain-lain. - Chloroethane yang juga dikenal dengan nama Etil klorida adalah salah satu senyawa hasil hidroklorinasi asam klorida terhadap hidrokarbon tidak jenuh.Etil klorida merupakan salah satu bahan kimia yang digunakan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan etil selulosa yang berfungsi untuk meningkatkan elastisitas pada plastik sintesis. - Acetone  dikenal juga sebagai dimetil keton, 2-propanon, atau propan-2-on dengan rumus kimia (C3H6O). Aseton adalah senyawa berbentuk cairan yang tidak berwarna dan mudah terbakar, digunakan untuk membuat plastik, serat, obat-obatan, dan senyawa-senyawa kimia lainnya (Ambo, 2012). Saat ini, acetone lebih dikenal oleh kalangan wanita sebagai produk kosmetik untuk penghapus cat kuku atau kuteks.

Pembalut sekali pakai mengandung bahan-bahan yang berasal dari berbagai macam bahan kimia yang dibutuhkannya waktu 500-800 tahun untuk sebuah sampah pembalut dapat 100% terurai. Penggunaan bahan-bahan kimia dalam pembalut sekali pakai ini memberikan efek yang tidak baik bagi lingkungan
- Kandungan gel dalam pembalut yang merupakan Super Absorbent Polymer (AP) Apabila terurai dalam air, zat kimia ini dapat berbahaya bagi lingkungan. Senyawa ini dapat menyebabkan perubahan hormon pada ikan. - Limbah yang mengandung klorin dapat mencemari lingkungan. Sifat klorin yang sangat reaktif akan sangat mudah bagi klorin bereaksi dengan senyawa lain dan membentuk senyawa-senyawa baru seperti senyawa organoklorin yang merupakan senyawa toksik dan dapat menimbulkan efek karsinogen bagi manusia. Organoklorin merupakan kelompok terbesar dari senyawa kimia organik yang merupakan unsur berbasis karbon yang mengandung satu atau lebih atom klorin. Pembuangan limbah yang mengandung klorin ke perairan, berpotensi mencemari perairan dan ekosistem yang ada di perairan. Selain itu senyawa klorin juga dapat menyebabkan masalah lingkungan yang bersifat global seperti CFCs yang terurai di atmosfer melepaskan klorin yang dapat merusak lapisan ozon. Sehingga, manusia bertekad untuk melawan kejahatan, dan kembali kepada Allah, serta beramal shaleh. Arti kata kembali pada ayat ini memiliki makna yang sangat dalam. Jangan hanya ingat laba sebentar dengan merugikan bersama.  Berdasarkan tafsir di atas, dapat diambil hikmah bahwa sebagai manusia yang dijadikan khalifah oleh Allah wajib untuk memelihara lingkungan agar tetap lestari diantaranya dengan cara tidak banyak menghasilkan limbah yang akan mencemari lingkungan.  Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, sementara ini terdapat berbagai macam produk-produk alternatif pengganti pembalut sekali pakai antara lain seperti menstrual cup/cawan menstruasi dan pembalut kain. Dari kedua produk tersebut, kita dapat memilih produk mana yang nyaman dengan diri kita. Kedua produk tesebut memiliki kelebihan dan kerugiannya masing-masing.

late night talking // radio silence; aled x daniel
Summary: A stressed-out Daniel calls Aled in the middle of the night (day?) for emotional support. As late night talking goes, their conversation meanders. Set after the events of Radio Silence.

It was 3:54 AM and Daniel was not okay.
Tipping back his head, he drained the third can of cold brew he'd had that night -- or was it morning? -- and slammed it down on the last remaining spot amidst his pile of chemistry notes. A stray droplet landed on the past paper he was working on, staining the godforsaken diagram of the Born-Haber cycle brown.
"Jesus fucking Christ," he groaned. Elbows resting on his pages of calculations (most bearing red slashes from his cold-brew induced fits of rage), he dug his eyes into the heels of his palms and resisted the urge to cry.
He had been stuck on Hess' Law questions for the past hour. They weren't even difficult. He just kept making stupid mistakes -- not changing positive signs to negative, forgetting to half the enthalpy of atomization of Cl2, missing the state symbols. Cambridge didn't accept people who made stupid mistakes. What if he didn't get an A* in Chemistry because of this? What if, after working his ass off the last 10 years of his life, after doing all those readings and passing his interview, they rejected him because a stupid mistake bumped him down a grade?
He imagined giving up his plan to get a PhD in Biology and pursue research to work in his father's electronics shop, fixing gadgets and mending computers or whatever his father does. Fuck, that sounded pretentious. He always felt a stab of guilt whenever that thought crossed his mind -- which was not uncommon. There was nothing wrong with working in an electronics shop, except for the fact he felt a small part of himself die inside at the thought of giving up his lifelong passion. No more lab coats and goggles. No more ... how did Frances put it? Right, "skeletons and bacteria and stuff".
There was no way he was letting Hess' Law ruin his chances of getting into Cambridge. He couldn't let it. This dream was all he had.
Well, not exactly.
Daniel did the only thing he could think of in that moment. He picked up his phone and dialled his lifeline.
┈┈┈┈․° * °․┈┈┈┈
"Hey," Daniel said hoarsely. It just registered to him that it was 3:54 AM and he had probably just woken Aled for no reason. "Jesus, Aled. sorry. It's so late --"
"Dan, are you okay?" Aled's voice, soft and concerned, crackled through the speakerphone.
Somehow, just hearing their voice was enough to make tears well up in his eyes. He thought if he kept them in any longer, his eyes might burst. So he let them spill.
"Chemistry. Chemistry is ruining my life." All the numbers and formulae and diagrams laid out before him grew fuzzy. He could feel a drop of tear fall and join the brown stain on his past paper. Wonderful.
Aled stayed quiet, giving him time to collect himself. He could imagine Aled with their eyes wide like a puppy’s, their eyebrows raised just a touch – they always were when Aled was worried.
Daniel took a big gulp of air. His breath smelled disgustingly like one too many cans of cold brew. Well, I guess one good thing about Aled being so far away is he can't tease me about my coffee breath.
"It's just- my exam's in a week and I- I can't mess this up. I need to get an A* in Chem. I can't still be struggling with Hess' fucking Law this close to the exams. And I keep making stupid mistakes like mixing up plus and minus" He wiped an eye and let out a laugh. "This is so stupid. I feel stupid. Sorry, I shouldn't be calling you this late for this."
"It's okay, I was up anyways." They paused. "You're not stupid. But you're also more than your grades."
"I know," he whispered. "But everyone already knows I got an offer from Cambridge and I'm scared I'll fail and- and let everyone down and- “
"You won't let me down."
I love you so much.
"I..." Daniel faltered. Why couldn't he speak?
But he knew Aled, of all people, understood. They knew how it felt for thoughts to be coiled up in the dusty corners of your mind for so long that you’re afraid giving them a voice would break them.
At least, for now.
“Thanks,” he said quietly.
"If I didn't know you better," Aled said gently, "I would tell you to sleep."
"I had three cans of cold brew."
"Dan!"
"Shut up, I get it-"
"Coffee Breath," Aled teased.
Daniel shook his head and smiled to himself. Well, guess I was wrong.
“How could you? Don’t you dare insult cold brew in front of me again.” They both chuckled. “Anyways, there is no way I'm sleeping now. The caffeine is blocking my adenosine receptors and my brain is setting off fireworks."
"You’re such a nerd."
"And you’re a hypocrite. Why are you up at this ungodly hour?"
Aled was silent for a moment. “Do you remember the YouTube Live! thing that contacted me?”
“Yeah?”
“Well…” he said, sounding half excited, half nervous, “I may or may not be doing a live show for Universe City in August?”
Daniel sat up straight, almost knocking over his three cans of cold brew.
“For real?”
“For real.”
“Aled, that’s great. When did you find out?”
“Just two days ago!” Aled said quickly. “I was going to tell you, but you’re busy enough with exams and have much more important things to worry about and-”
“Hey, stop right there,” Daniel chided them softly. “If I get to call you past 4am and have you deal with my anxious ass, you can tell me about your literally life-changing show no matter how much Chemistry is screwing with my life."
"Maybe," Aled replied sheepishly. “If you say so.” Are they… embarrassed?
Daniel felt a small pang at the thought that Aled might have been nervous about sharing the news with him. Of course, Aled had always been reserved, but there used to be no secrets between them. Then he remembered the arguments they had because he stupidly refused to believe Aled actually liked him, and felt another spike of shame.
Stupid of me to think they would be comfortable sharing everything with me, he thought ruefully, then stopped himself.
Something he’d been learning lately was that none of this was any one person’s fault. They could both feel endlessly guilty for being arses in their own ways – Aled for literally going radio silent on him, himself for being unimaginably obtuse – but what would be the point? They were past that. They’d agreed to be more open with each other, but these things took time. And Daniel would wait, however long it takes.
Shit happens - that’s life. He was just glad Aled was back in his life so they could brave this mess together.
“I’m proud of you. For restarting Universe City. For doing the live show.”
And Daniel meant it. God knows he loved every single facet of Aled Last, but he especially loved the version that was completely themselves, who was passionate and creative and wonderfully weird.
He wished the rest of the world to witness that version of Aled as well.
“Thanks,” Aled said shyly.
They cleared their throat. “Well anyways, since it’s a live show, I want to do something special. So I’ve been expanding our song. I want it to fit the new storyline I have planned before the show. Do you… do you want to hear it?”
“Yeah! Yeah, of course.”
Aled turned on their video call, and Daniel followed suit.
Aled looked much better than they had four months ago. Their cheeks had gained back some of its baby-like roundness. Whereas their hair was limp and dull before, it was now soft blond blending into pastel pink at the tips, which were just past their shoulders now. Since Frances had told him about the haircut incident with Aled’s mother, he had stopped teasing them about cutting their hair. Draped over their shoulders was their city-skyline blanket, under which they wore a T-shirt with two dinosaurs kissing.
In short, Aled looked really cute, and Daniel kind of wanted to kiss them.
Since he couldn’t, he said instead, “Is it just me, or are those dinosaurs on your shirt being really gay?”
“You mean, like us?”
They both chuckled.
It took Alex a while to fumble with something on their computer. Then they mumbled “Here goes,” and the backing track the two of them recorded so long ago started playing — Aled on the drums, himself on the bass — and then Aled started singing and he was mesmerised:

Then the music faded, and Aled’s voice, only moments ago so bright amidst the thundering instrumentals, had turned shy once again, snapping Daniel out of his trance. “So…do you like it?”
We’ll make something just for us.
Daniel felt a lump form in his throat. Does coffee mess with a person’s emotions? Surely, it should. He’d have to check his biology notes later.
“Are you kidding me? The new lyrics are fantastic. It’s amazing. I- I love it.”
Aled tucked a strand of hair behind their ear and blushed. One corner of their lip was turned up in a bashful smile.
Gods, he really wanted to kiss them.
“I-”
A smatter of knocks could be heard from Aled’s side. They stood up immediately, throwing their phone on the bed so Daniel could only see Aled’s ceiling. There was more clattering and-
“Al I love you but I swear to god if you don’t stop causing a racket I will- What are you even doing this late??” It was Carys.
“Whoops…” Daniel said.
Carys’ face took up the screen. “Ohhhh you’re being gay,” she cackled. “Hi Daniel! In that case guys have fun but I have an early shift tomorrow so keep it down, won’t you? Okay bye good night-and-morning.”
And just like that, she was gone, replaced by Aled’s shocked expression, puppy-eyes wide.
The two of them stared at each other for a moment, then Daniel burst out laughing, and Aled started laughing even louder.
“I said keep it down!” The faint sound of Carys' half-irritated shout drifted from somewhere outside Aled’s room.
“Tell her I’m sorry?” Daniel said.
“Shut up.” Aled said, smirking.

It was 4:28 AM and Daniel felt, for the first time in a long while, that they were okay.

Seriously, I want to read more about them!! So if anyone has written or will write more about their relationship, please share it with me.
Not sure why I chose to write a whole fic surrounding a phone conversation because 1. I hate phone conversations, and 2. I struggle with writing dialogue. I hope you still enjoyed the fic even though my inexperience in the two aforementioned areas may have made the dialogue unnatural :D
P.S. Was the first section just me venting about Hess' Law vicariously through Daniel? Yes. It absolutely was.

It didn't work.
It really didn't work.
Tried crushing it, spinning it, heating the bitch up but nope.
I ended up replacing it with Cu2S!
