After six days, Johnny, Shevon, and Dahlia were finally back in the shit little cave that Jai, Pierre, and Asha were all trapped in. Upon seeing his face so far below all of them, Jai’s stomach twisted in all kinds of knots. The three of them would all find out if Johnny lived up to his part of the deal and in turn, the fates of all five of them being decided. Out of the corner of his eye, Akeno loomed over all of them in her most known form.
Compared to that small, frail figure Jai saw that very night he tried to forget, this was the Akeno that was known to the rest of them. A 10 feet tall, beastly woman with thorn-like legs that stuck out against her spider web swing. Her black hair was done up into three separate buns like a crown. Red eyes glowed down at his two crewmates and the flower chick, plump lips formed into a smirk. A black widow waiting to trap her prey.
“I see you all lived up to one part of the bargain. Well done,” Akeno cooed out and stepped out of her little web swing. She kneeled down but still had to look down at all three of them.
Johnny and Akeno stared into each other’s eyes, the air in the cave thickening all around them. While Johnny’s face never left its seemingly empty, simple smile, Akeno’s eyes searched through all of Johnny. She straightened up, once again looming over the three of them to regain her power.
“I found him, Miss Akeno. I found Masahi”
“Did you now?” “Mhm.”
“So where is he?”
“He is with his crew, but we all have some regulations of our own,” Johnny began and Akeno raised her eyebrows at his statement, intrigue and curiosity filling all of her eyes. Jai didn’t know where he was in any position to be making negotiations but he waited to hear him out. “Masahi’s captain said that their whole crew wants to be there with him. They will keep their distance, but they wanna be nearby.”
“So what if they tried to attack? That’s gonna get your entire crew killed,” Akeno pointed out with a pair of crossed arms. Jai knew she was right and one of her eyes twitched, worry twinkling in one of them. He looked down at Johnny, waiting for whatever the hell he had to say in response to that. Johnny cupped his palm, a flicker of flames sparking from his hands.
“If they attack you, I’ll burn every one of them.”
“Except for my baby?”
“You got it.”
Out of the corner of Jai’s eyes, Pierre and Asha both nodded compliantly, all too calm by the situation. How could any of them be this trusting, especially with a potential rival crew? Jai maintained his breathing, closing his eyes as he eased his rapidly beating heart. All they could do was wait.
Footsteps that sounded nothing like he heard before echoed through the cave and Jai tensed up as the sound got closer. Akeno’s jaw slackened a little bit, something close to her eyebrows rising up at the noise. Before their very eyes, a gray looking boy with multiple arms and legs appeared in front of him. Multiple black-brown eyes, splitting image of the very same eyes Jai saw crying that night. Short curly black hair that draped his face with round cheeks.
Just a kid, and he’s sailing the seas.
Akeno’s face softened at the boy below her and her multiple eyes welled up with tears, for the first time smiling so wide.
“Hi mom,” the boy said ever so softly and for the first time in about six months, Jai smiled too.

Week 24.2/52: June 12th - June 18th 2023 | Hai Di Lao 🍅
Long time no hot pot! HDL is always so filling as usual. I still don't really know my way around my new camera... barely had time to play with it since I got it last week but hopefully I will become more familiar with it this summer break. Tried the new tom yum soup base and it was so good - I love the lemon taste. Also tried the watermelon yakult drink. Really pretty and yum. Also the snacks in the waiting area are SOOOO good HAHAHHAHAHAA 😭😭😭

If Julius Caesar had not modified the calendar, today, March 1, I would say "Happy New Year."
Tumblr media
Romulus, the mythical founder of Rome, created the first calendar for the Romans which had 10 months, and the first month was called Martius in honor of the god Mars. The first four months had a specific name but the following were numbered: Quintilis ( means Fifth) Sextilis (Sixth), Septembris (Seventh), Octobris (Eighth) , Novembris (Ninth), and Decembris (Tenth). His successor, King Numa, seeing that this calendar was imperfect added two months: the 11th, which he called Ianuaris (January), and the 12th and last month, Februaris (February).
But in the year 46 B.C. (year 708 for the Romans) with the advice of the astronomer Sosigenes, Julius Caesar organized the calendar so that it had 365 days. The last two months became the first two. The year would no longer begin in 1st March but in 1st January, and February would have an extra day every four years.
Curiously, the numbered months did not change their name despite having changed their numerical position.
After the death of Caesar, the month Quintilis was called Iulius (Julius) because it was the month of his birth, and the month Sexitilis was called Augustus because 14th of that month the first Emperor Augustus passed away.

Day 046/365: Your favorite song of this year
No contest. Joji's music is sublime. No other word for it. This is such an achingly gorgeous song... it's hard to beat Slow Dancing in the Dark, but if any song can do it, it's this one.

Julius Caesar and Leap Days Image Credit & License: Classical Numismatic Group, Inc., Wikimedia
Explanation: In 46 BC Julius Caesar reformed the calendar system. Based on advice by astronomer Sosigenes of Alexandria, the Julian calendar included one leap day every four years to account for the fact that an Earth year is slightly more than 365 days long. In modern terms, the time it takes for the planet to orbit the Sun once is 365.24219 mean solar days. So if calendar years contained exactly 365 days they would drift from the Earth's year by about 1 day every 4 years and eventually July (named for Julius Caesar himself) would occur during the northern hemisphere winter. By adopting a leap year with an extra day every four years, the Julian calendar year would drift much less. In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII provided the further fine-tuning that leap days should not occur in years ending in 00, unless divisible by 400. This Gregorian Calendar system is the one in wide use today. Of course, tidal friction in the Earth-Moon system slows Earth's rotation and gradually lengthens the day by about 1.4 milliseconds per century. That means that leap days like today will not be necessary, about 4 million years from now. This Roman silver coin, a denarius, depicts Julius Caesar (left) and Venus, Roman goddess of love.
