weaknesses

flori is nosy. the minute she stumbled upon triad industries and figured out that they weren't really who they said they were, she looked into them because she wanted to know everything. that, and she looked into triad industries just because she could. even though it's clearly a very dangerous organization. there's a bit of hubris going on, too, as she thought that she covered her tracks well enough. turns out, she didn't, which then (indirectly) got her parents killed when veronica greasley - mg's mom - ordered the 'leak' to be cleaned up. flori doesn't quite know how to feel about mg himself, making things kinda awkward between them.

she also has a tendency to be at the wrong place in the wrong time: she cut through a cemetary and ended up getting turned into a vampire by derek (yes, the very one who lived among werewolves with his partner paige, and then had to watch klaus mikaelson murder everyone when he wanted to make his own hybrid army).

shortly afterwards, she overestimated her own abilities and went to a party even though she clearly wasn't feeling well due to the effect of being turned into a vampire and not having a good grasp on how to deal with the bloodlust thing yet, which then causes her to accidentally kill sue - the girl she crushed on.

since then, she doesn't drink from the vein anymore; she drinks from bloodbags and consumes bloodpops to stave off her thirst. but she does think about what it would be like to drink from the vein sometimes.

post legacies canon, she helps jed (founderscouncil) track down his sisters and once they're found, the group ends up going back to maple hollows, flori's hometown, where her ex boyfriend doug - who is also sue's older brother, it's a long story - has assembled a crew of his own: his ex boyfriend joe flowers, who yes, is related to well known witch theophilia flowers - and his girlfriend tami bryce.

jed's sisters get out of dodge but both flori and jed get hurt during the brawl that ensues and in the aftermath.

she blames herself for what happened to her parents, to sue and to doug. she internalizes this and doesn't really talk about it, either. even though she should. flori is very good at hiding her sorrow behind a sunny smile.

strengths (& a dash of weakness)

sure, she's got the enhanced senses and super strength, speed, healing and more, but her true strengths are more based in the areas of the mind: flori is very adept at compulsion and at headdives - whether that's diving into someone else's head or pulling someone into her own.

she's forever figuring out the specifics in regards to compulsion and head diving; it's almost like a game to her, and she loves games. especially strategy games. because flori is a gamer with a penchant for strategy games, knows how to work out tactics, and would be more than happy to put her skills to the test, if people ask.

they rarely do, as she easily slips under the radar, and as such, the anti squad (mia, faith and loren) as well as wade and jed (and probably mg too) are the only ones to know her true capabilities.

she's sort of like shikamaru nara from naruto because she's actually quite smart and while she does do her homework and does show up for tests and is respectful because she's been raised to be, most of the material doesn't really interest her unless it's in the form of puzzles or games, and the things that do interest her aren't part of the curriculum. as such, there is some resentment towards the teachers too (much like kaleb felt like in s1 of legacies) for not teaching them what they need to know.

the fact that flori wants to know everything can also be used as a force for good: she likes to do research and has a passion project going on eastern vampires. if she's not in her room at the salvatore school, she's in the salvatore school library. and if she's not there, she's at the mystic falls library. she's taken it upon herself to teach herself everything that she needs to know, since the teachers aren't going to.

and yeah, she's read up on the mikaelsons and on katherine pierce and on the mystic falls gang to the best of her ability.

aside from that, she's also very good with technology and is a hacker.

how has this affected her life?

flori tries to be more careful after everything she's been through. which, for her, looks like staying out of the field and being something akin to a "woman in the chair" like ned from spiderman and wade from kim possible.

it's also going above and beyond to keep the interactions with mystic falls high students (and other humans that aren't in the know about supernaturals) to a minimum.

it's also trying her hardest to be useful. because if she's useful, she's included. it's a remnant of her human life, in which most of her interactions with her peers were directly related to whether or not she could be useful to them by doing their homework for them.

after meeting the anti squad and other salvatore students like finch and cleo, she's opened up and while she's still better at tech than at people, she feels like she's made some strides in loving herself.

it is the anti squad that knows her best. it is the anti squad she feels most comfortable with. she would fight and die and kill for them in particular.

flori is also very loyal, however. not just to the anti squad, but also to her friends like wade and drusilla (the witch who wears only black clothes) - even though her relationship with drusilla detoriates to the point of non-existence.

she sees the best in people, even when they themselves don't see it. flori credits jed with helping her open up too. not just in a regular sense, but also in a romantic sense, as she thought - for a long time - that romance wasn't in the cards for her, deeming herself inherently unlovable and undeserving of such kindness after all the deaths she's inadvertently caused.

Call me a petty bitch, but I secretly like it when Ohm's ex-friends take jabs at him. Rilla and Nogla give no fucks and I love that, and Bryce even gave a little shade last night about that 'one person in golf it games who used to wait until everyone else went before starting'. That was definitely at Ohm because in a golf it video, Del complained about Toonz doing that for one course and added "if it was Ohm doing it, you would be pissed" and Toonz was like "lol yeah."

Remy waved as the gang messy and loudly try to grab all their stuff and headed out the apartment door one at the time. Elijah were the last one out as he rolled to the living room grabbing his bag behind the couch, and turn to his room mate.

" You sure you do not want to come Remy? It will not be as fun without you." The doctor asked for about the ten time this evening.

The other doctor rolled his eyes but still gave him a smile, Eliajh and the others meant well, they always did. Tho Remy were tired of feeling pressure to go out clubing. A dinner were fine as it were the squad and maybe some of the surgeons or Raphael. But he got anixety and felt akward and out of places as they got to dance or just drink. It were just so much pressure being surronded by many people he did not know and constantly thinking how to talk and react to everything. At a dinner he did not feel as much pressure to talk and he could just listen opposite to getting drunk, and have to play drink games and watch the social cue changes.

" I am. Go have fun."

Eliajh snickered and rolled out the door who Sienna held up, teasingly shouted at Remy.

" Go is maybe not the greatest word for me!"

The freckled doctor snickered and looked how Elijah clumsy flirted with Phoebe and Sieena looked like her OTP became canon, before he shut and locked the door. The second he did, Remy grinned pleased over having the apartment all to himself all night, cause the gang would probaly come home in the middle of the night.

So the doctor put hot milk on the stove and mix in some cocoa powder and turn on the heat. While waiting for it to boil up he jumped out of his pants, and put on a couple of knee long knitted socks and moved out of his formal shirt to put on his cozy long sleeved ones. When it were halfway over his head and shoulder Remys blue eyes looked how the milk foamed and nearly poured over the saucepan. The doctor grabbed the handle and moved it aside and by some miracle he manged not to drop it as the long sleeved shirt blocked his sight slightly.

After a couple of minutes Remy had chopped vegetables and made a dip, and microwaved popcorn and grabbed several bags of capri sun, balance it all to table in the living room. Tho depiced his efforts he had to make two rounds to get the hot chocolate. Now he put on Disney plus and cuddle down in the couch. Ruffling his messy red hair to the side, liking how it settles even tho it happen when he had not shower for a long.

" Hey freckles!" Remy fliched holding the warm cup and his blue eyes turned dark and wide eyed when he looked upon Bryce outside the window on the fire ecspe. The surgeons else perfect hair were now covered in snow and the tip of his nose and ears were red, making Remy wonder how long he had stood there. Bryce grinned as Remy open the window. " Ooo a disney movie, I like that Cutie."

The freckled doctor blushed of cold when snow plowed in, and of the fact Bryce saw him in his boxershorts.

" Why are you out in the snow? You could get a cold. And why are you only in a jumper and scarf? And without a toque? Why would you not go to the door."

Bryce only grin as his newly boyfriend brushed away the snow of him.

" It were suppose to be romantic. Then it start snowing. So it got more romantic...for about fourty five minutes when your squad finally left. Now I am cold. But the champange is cold and the smoked scrimps had not changed." Bryce being as bubbly as the champange, tho it faded as he saw Remys sad blue eyes.

" I am sorry." Remy ruffled his hair looking away. " You probaly wanted to go out and do something grand on Valentines day, and I did not contact you. I just wanted to find a small restaurant where we could be a bit private first...but I looked to late and it were all book up... so I just assumed you would go with somebody else. I am just so bad at..." Remys rambled were shut with a sweet kiss.

" Remy. Its okay. I do not need a grand valentines evening out. Being home with you. Eating and watching a disney movie..." Bryce sweetly ruffled his hair. " That is as grand as it can be."

So the rest of the evening the doctor and the surgeon cuddle in the couch and when the squad came home they had doze of. Sienna try to muffle her happy screams as he snapped a picture of the cute boys.

Why I Love (Part seven)

I skipped over my original part seven because it’s Space Dandy and it’s kinda hard to explain why I love Dandy other than he’s funny and I love watching his idiocy as he tries to capture aliens. It took me a long time to get around to watching my number eight favorite anime. Despite the fact that everybody and their mother was praising it I just didn’t want to get into it. I watched it about halfway through and did thoroughly enjoy it but got busy with community college and didn’t finish it until quarantine started this year. The anime that I’m talking about is probably the only fully recent one on this list. 

If I were to describe the show Demon Slayer to anybody it would be if FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood took place in medieval times and it was about demons instead of science. I feel in love with this character just about the first time that I saw him and heard his laugh. 

I am of course talking about Inosuke Hashibira my best boi from this show that I would fight anybody for. It was kind of an instant thing with me and once I saw him fight I was hooked. The wild animal eske way of fighting really drew me in to his character. 

I would describe Inosuke as if Katsuki Bakugou had a real reason for the way that he was when he started off. Inosuke was raised by boars after his mother was forced to give him up and it is perfectly realized in his fighting style and prideful nature. But, he’s only that way because all he’s ever been around is animals. I love his will to learn about how to actually treat people rather than being stuck in his ways. The influence that Tanjiro has over him is obvious. I think that everybody needs a little bit of Tanjiro in their lives (He’s kinda like Tohru in that regard.) 

Inosuke always makes me laugh. He makes everything better and I love watching him go nuts and just have an absolute blast. I’m going to make kind of a controversial comment about his English dub voice, I think that Bryce Papenbrook did the best that he could to live up to his seiyu’s expectations. It’s very hard to play this character because he’s just throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. I’ve watched some of his stuff for Inosuke and I love what he does and can’t wait to show Demon Slayer dubbed to my best friend once all of this ends. 

I absolutely love watching this character grow and develop over the course of this first season. He’s already learning that he isn’t the strongest person on his squad and that he has a lot to learn. He’s one of those characters that I could watch for literally ever. He is the life of the party and is what made me fall in love with this show. 

(There should be WAY more gifs of Inosuke than there are but I love this one anyways!! It just perfect encumpuses his personality) 

Inosuke to me is so much fun!! He makes me laugh but while having the actual development. When he apologizes for being weak to Tanjiro after the Spider Mountain Arc my heart broke for my poor babey. I can’t wait to see this character in more content!!

13 Reasons Why: Season 3 - Character Thoughts

The third season of the controversial Netflix show 13 Reasons Why dropped on August 23rd. Since I am the world’s slowest binge-watcher, I recently finished the season and damn do I have some thoughts and opinions.

This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about this show here. I did a review for the very first season back in 2017 when it first aired. Two years later and here I am again trying to wrap my head around everything that occurred over the 13 episodes.

Since there’s a lot I want to stay and I am still processing the entire season, I figured I’d make a couple of different posts regarding the show. This one is going to be all about the characters and what I thought of them this time around.

So sit back, this might take a while.

Let’s start with our main character, the person of interest, and our hero Clay Jenson. I’ll be honest with you, Clay Jenson was never a favorite of mine.

His biggest flaw to me has been his need to place his crushes on a pedestal. He did it with Hannah, he did it with Skye, and he did it with Ani in this season. You’d think he’d learn his lesson but nope! The boy just keeps on putting unrealistic expectations on his crushes. He projects an imaginative version of his crush onto the real thing and it never turns out well for him. They’re never as pure as he thinks they are. They’re never as good-hearted as he thinks they are. They’re never truly who he thinks they are. And that’s his own damn fault. Yes, Ani shouldn’t have been lying about her friendship with Bryce but at the same time, Clay shouldn’t have thought that she never said two words to him.

Clay has a heart of gold. He will do anything and everything for his friends -- even if it means going down for a murder he didn’t commit. And he feels deeply. As Justin said, “He’s a good person. If he acts out of emotion, it’s because he fucking cares.” 

Clay, by definition, is a nurturer. He takes care of the people he cares about and he sees the best in them even when they don’t. He gave Tyler hope and courage, Justin a second chance on life, and Tony a friend he could rely on. What’s interesting, and not all that surprising is that Clay saw potential for greatness in almost everyone he met except two people -- Bryce Walker and Montgomery De La Cruz. That’s not a coincidence.

Going forward, I’d like to see Clay grow as a person without a romantic interested because the boy has real potential. And I’d really love to see him go to therapy. This is my plea to the writing staff -- GET CLAY A THERAPIST!

And then we have our new narrator and new character Ani Achola. Oh, Ani you had such big shoes to fill and you didn’t even come close to filling them.

One of the biggest issues I had with Ani’s character is that she came out of nowhere and suddenly she’s BFFs with these kids who barely like each other. I find it so hard to believe that she would be so quickly accepted within the tape squad -- especially when they’re harboring a giant ass secret about a foiled school shooting!

And it’s not only that she accepted, but it’s also the fact that they trust her. Never once does anyone ask Ani to leave when they’re talking to Clay about what really happened after Homecoming. NO ONE! It took Clay an entire season to get people to trust him and here comes Ani worming her way into everyone's business. I just don’t get it.

As if that’s not bad enough, she fucking lives with Bryce! Okay, she lives in Bryce’s guest house but still, she lives on the Walker’s property. You’re telling me the writers want me to believe that this group of teenagers who loath Bryce Walker are suddenly BFFs with a girl who lives on his property? Give me a fucking break.

The nonsense doesn’t even end there. This girl, this dumb new girl who hangs out with a group of people who loath Bryce and who were put through hell because of him decides that she knows him better than they do. That Bryce Walker has changed and suddenly he’s a good person. And then she has the audacity to fucking sleep with him! But she’s fearful of Clay — fucking Clay Jenson would couldn’t hurt a fly even if it landed on his dinner. The amount of hypocrisy that spews from Ani’s mouth is astonishing.

But don’t worry cause by the end Ani has come to her senses and spearheads the entire idea of placing the blame of Bryce’s death on Monty. Are we expected to applaud her a hero? I certainly don’t.

Ani Achola is nothing more than a talented manipulator. It’s no surprise she got along so well with Bryce who also has mastered the art of manipulation. Ani goes around telling everyone that she knows and sees things in people that they don’t see in themselves. She builds them up, learns all their secrets, and then slowly uses those secrets against them.

She did it with Jess — telling her she saw a badass girl inside her, learning she was raped by Bryce, and then fucking sleeping with said rapist. Not to mention she comes up with the ridiculous idea that Jess slept with Bryce to regain her power. COME ON! 

She did it with Clay — befriending him and earning his trust and love, knowing he had feelings for her and stringing him along, using his anger towards Bryce after what he did to Hannah against him to justify him being the murderer.

She manipulated every one of the core characters into trusting her so that they would spill their darkest secrets to them. And she made them believe that they needed to speak up so that they could protect Clay, but really, I think she was trying to figure out who killed her beloved Bryce Walker.

I don’t trust Ani. I hated how things ended with her telling her mother that she was seeing Clay — she didn’t even ask Clay first, she just assumed that he wanted the same thing. I’m skeptical and I will remain skeptical.

Also, if it isn’t clear enough, I don’t think she should have been the narrator of the season. This season could have followed a similar narrator pattern as season 2 did with each character narrating their own interrogation.

This season tried really hard to give redemption arcs to two irredeemable characters when it wasn’t necessary. The season already had its redemption story -- Tyler Down.

I was really hard on Tyler in the first season because let’s face it, he crossed a lot of boundaries. Lurking around the school and taking candids pictures of students for the yearbook is one thing. It’s an entirely different situation when stalked Hannah and took those pictures of her and Courtney. It was an invasion of privacy and at the time his crimes against Hannah ranked him extremely high on my list of hated characters.

Then, season two happened. Just like all sexual assault victims, Tyler did not deserve to be sexually assaulted. To this day, that is one of the most disturbing and jarring scenes of media I have ever consumed. I still get sick to my stomach thinking about it. Tyler was so affected it by it that it lead him to nearly become a school shooter -- thankfully, Clay stopped him.

Season 3 Tyler is the Tyler that the world deserved. We got to see Tyler deal with his trauma and the ups and downs with being a sexual assault survivor. In the end, Tyler becomes a happier and healthier version of himself. Yes, Clay and everyone who kept Tyler’s secret helped but it was really Tyler who did all the heavy lifting. Tyler was the one who had to want to get better and, though it took a while, he realized that he did want to get better.

Tyler went from a misunderstood, bullied teenager who felt so much hatred and fear that he was willing to kill to a happy teenager with a group of friends who truly care about him -- not because they have to but because they want to.

Tyler’s relationships with the other characters are really interesting because you can tell he’s very skeptical of them at first. He knows they’re just being friendly to him to ensure that he doesn’t do anything bad again. He feels like he’s being babysat and yet, he follows them around when he’s scheduled to because he knows they’re helping him. As the season progresses, we see these relationships develop into real friendships.

Tyler’s actions are redeemable not because of his past trauma but because he understood he was in the wrong. He understand he was making a poor choice because of the trauma he was facing. And he wanted to change -- he didn’t want to die. He realized he didn’t want people to hurt the way he hurt.

Not only was he a redeemable character, but his character is so important in the larger discussion of sexual assault and male victims. Tyler didn’t have to tell Clay or Jess or the entire school or anybody that he was a sexual assault victim. But he did and in doing so he allowed the world to see that, yes, men can be sexual assault victims too. When he stood up at the assembly and uttered the words “My name is Tyler Down and I am a survivor” he opened the door for his fellow male classmates, like Justin Foley, to stand up and live their truth. Not only that, but it made the other members of Hands Off realize that Tyler was more than an ally, he was a survivor.

I never thought I’d say this but Tyler is one of my favorite characters now. I hope we get to see him continue to thrive and maybe even help Jess run the Hands Off organization.

Justin Foley. I don’t know what it is about that boy, but I have loved him since day one -- I think it’s the puppy eyes. Don’t get me wrong, Justin has his flaws. He started the shit storm that leads to Hannah’s suicide by taking that picture of her at the park. And he played a part in the rape of his girlfriend, Jessica Davis by not doing more to stop it.

Now some might say, how could you forgive a character who let their girlfriend get raped? How could Jess forgive the boy who let her get raped? Unlike Bryce, Justin showed remorse instantly -- at least on the inside.

Like Tyler, Justin has a redemption arc, though his arc is still a work in progress. I absolutely loved how ride or die Justin was when it came to Clay. Justin couldn’t stand Clay in the first season and now the two are living together and on the road to being brothers. He was willing to lie to the police about his whereabouts that night to give Clay a solid alibi. He pulled Clay away from the Homecoming fight to protect him from getting hurt. And he was willing to lie to the Jensons, even after all they’ve done for him, to make sure that Clay wouldn’t go to jail.

Justin may have thought he found a brother in Bryce, but he never knew brotherhood until Clay took him in.

My biggest issue with Justin is his constant drug use. I knew the moment he went searching through his bag when Clay left the room that he was still using. How could he not have been? The second season literally ended with us seeing him inject himself with heroin. A person doesn’t just stop heroin - they need professional help to do it. In fact, Justin may be in even more trouble now that he has added prescription drugs to the mix. I’m so glad he spoke up about needing help in the final episode. I sincerely hope we get to see his journey to sobriety in the final season.

Justin standing up at the assembly and telling everyone that he too was a survivor was such an important and impactful scene. Jess’s face says it all, she had no idea. In hindsight, it’s really not a surprise. Justin’s mom was constantly strung out and bringing home men who were not only bad for her but bad for her son. What shocked me more was his admission that he sold himself for sex when he was on the streets and sometimes things went south. That small little line is so important because it points out that sex workers can be survivors of sexual assault to. They can be taken advantage of. Their trust can be broken. And their willingness to sell themselves can be misconstrued as consent for any and all actions.

Also, the fact that Justin told Jess he didn’t come out sooner because he didn’t want to distract Jess from her own journey -- SOBS! I love you Justin Foley -- you incredibly dumb, yet incredibly kind boy.

But please, get him away from drugs and drug dealers. I want to see a happy, healthy, and SOBER Justin Foley next season.

The queen of survival, the inspiration for change, and the girl who is done with everyone’s bullshit Miss Jessica Davis.

For the past two seasons, we’ve seen Jess as a victim and for the first time, we got to see her as a survivor. Seeing her as student body president fighting for change and spearheading the Hands Off club was the right move for Jess. I liked seeing her come into her own and understand that she is not her past.

I think it’s important that even though Jess is getting better, she still struggles with what has happened to her. We see her in a flashback tell Bryce that even though she’s healing, sometimes she still feels like he’s on top of her. That feeling is never going to go away, but that doesn’t mean it needs to define her.

Though I’m not keen on the idea of showing teenagers having sex so freely, Jess reclaiming her sexuality was an important milestone for her and for survivors everywhere. I found it interesting and not all that shocking that this time around Jess wanted to be the one in control when it came to sex. It was a way for her to feel safe and enjoy herself because she knew she was the one calling the shots. And even though she was in charge, she still made sure Justin was comfortable as well. Consent is key!

Jess has a lot going on this season. As I said, she’s student body president and the president of the Hands Off club. She’s trying to change the school and how sexual assault victims are viewed. She’s harboring secrets like Tyler’s foiled school shooting and her involvement in Bryce’s death. She’s trying to have a relationship with Justin which leads to backlash from the HO group. And, on top of all that, she’s dealing with her feelings surrounding the death of her rapist.

One thing I found really interesting about Jess this season is her feelings towards Bryce’s death. Her reaction is even more interesting and shocking when we find out her involvement in the murder. When the news hits that Bryce’s dead everyone has a reaction. After Justin opens up to Jess about his complex feelings around the death, Jess comforts him and reassures him that Bryce didn’t deserve to die. And yet, we find out that she watched Bryce die! I kind of wish we got a sense of what her true feelings were regarding Bryce’s death.

Jess is on the right track and I hope we get to see her continue to grow as a person. I hope she finds comfort in herself and continues helping others work through their trauma and understand that they are survivors.

Alex Standall is another character I’ve been a fan of from the very beginning. His near suicide in the finale of the first season crushed me. So it should come as no surprise that I was extremely disappointed in Alex this season.

I found it extremely out of character for Alex to willingly interact with Bryce — whom he’s hated even before Hannah’s tapes were passed to him. One could blame his interactions with Bryce on his need for steroids but that’s a copout. Alex could have found someone else to buy the drugs from. He could have not done the drugs at all and instead worked harder with Zach. There is no excuse for him turning to Bryce for drugs.

What’s even more alarming is his interactions with Bryce didn’t stop there. He hung out with him on other occasions including helping Bryce break into his alleged father’s new home. Now, yes, Alex came to his sentences shortly after this interaction but he should have already known to stay away from Bryce.

It’s clear that Alex was hurting. Jess dumped him yet again for Justin and he felt vulnerable. But his vulnerability doesn’t excuse him going to his ex-girlfriend and best friend’s rapist to purchase drugs.

And then there’s the small fact that Alex Standall is the one who killed Bryce. There’s certainly a lot to unpack when it comes to his involvement with Bryce. The fact of the matter is, Alex didn’t go to the pier with Jess to kill Bryce. He went to support Jess. In fact, he even tried to help Bryce but in those final moments, Bryce sealed his fate by acting out and accusing Jess of setting him up — how I’m not sure.

I’d imagine the final season will explore Alex’s involvement and his feelings about it even more. And I’m sure his complex relationship with Jess will be involved in his journey.

So, is Alex redeemable? Well, that’s a discussion for another day.

Once again, Zach Dempsey got the short end of the stick — or so we thought.

The season started out with him being isolated from the rest of the tape squad. Though he didn’t sell Tyler out he certainly thought about it. He definitely wasn’t going to waste his time babysitting Tyler who may or may not act again. And yet, he still showed up at every meeting and played a part in covering up who really killed Bryce.

Zach actually had a lot of great moments this season. His relationship with Chloe was interesting and complex. There’s no denying that Zach hated Bryce and yet, he still offered to help Chloe raise Bryce’s child if she wanted to keep it. And he never once tried to pressure Chloe into getting an abortion even though she was carrying a rapists baby. I found myself applauding when Zach went along with whatever Chloe said regarding the pregnancy. If she kept it that was fine. If she wanted an abortion that was fine too. Zach definitely gets a gold star for that one — isn’t sad I have to praise common human decency?

I also enjoyed Zach’s brotherhood moments with both Justin and Alex. Zach needed friends just like everyone else did and I’m glad he found people he could rely on. His relationship with Alex seems esepcially special and I hope they keep their promise to be the kind of friends that tell each other everything.

Zach’s story becomes even more complicated when it comes to the Homecoming game and his altercation with Bryce. Bryce’s reaction to finding out that Chloe is friends (or maybe more) with Zach is alarming since he’s claimed and shown how into Ani he is. If he was so in love with Ani, why did he need to go after Zach like that?

Thanks to Bryce’s irrational anger, Zach lost his entire future that night. In fact, softie Zach was so pissed off he found Bryce and beat the shit out of him with a broken leg nonetheless! I was a bit confused as to how Zach found Bryce though. From what we saw, Jess was the only one who knew where Bryce was going to be after the game. And it’s not like Zach could have followed him there because he had to go to the hospital to get his leg check out. PLOT HOLES!

Honestly, I’m not really sure what to think of Zach. I will say I’m glad he acknowledged that he had no right being on Tyler’s picture wall at Monet’s. And yet, Tyler put him there for a reason.

Frankly, I think Zach needs some therapy too so hopefully he gets some help in season 4 too.

I can’t believe the internet is romanticizing Monty and his sexuality when actual angel Tony Padilla exists.

I honestly can’t understand why Monty and Winston are getting all the attention when Tony and Caleb exist — but then again, I do understand. Why would the world idolize an interracial gay couple when two white (or white-passing boys) are hooking up. Tony and Caleb deserve better from the world and from this fandom. They are the true icons.

Tony had a rough go this season. I certainly wasn’t expecting him to have to deal with his family’s deportation but the minute he walked into his home and they weren’t there I knew. What’s a little confusing about this plot, is the fact that his dad owned a legitimate business. The plot definitely felt like more of an afterthought but I do think it was important. It gave the show an opportunity to comment on a very real thing happening in our country and showed how it affects everyone. I’m sad Tony didn’t confide in Clay earlier and that it took Clay’s interrogation and digging for him to tell him. I really hope these characters learn to trust each other next season — they’ve all proved to  be extremely good at keeping secrets.

Tony seemed to be the only character who adamantly did not want Bryce’s help this season. He was hesitant to take the money from Bryce for the Mustang especially after learning that Bryce’s father was the one who sold out his family to ICE. The only reason Tony is seen with Bryce again is because he made a promise to Hannah to see that everyone on the tapes listened to them. I found it just as shocking as Tony did that Bryce never listened to them, even when they were spread around the internet. That says a lot about his character. 

Tony choosing to sit in the car with Bryce and listen with him says a lot about Tony’s character. I think Tony stayed with Bryce because a) he wanted to make sure he listened to all the tapes and b) he wanted to make sure Bryce wouldn’t destroy the tapes. I don’t think it had anything to do with making sure Bryce was going to be okay while listening. Also, Tony telling Bryce that all of Hannah’s tapes are his tapes was a serious mic drop moment.

Tony, like Clay, is so ride or die for his friends. The minute that Hillcrest moron grabbed Jess at the Homecoming game Tony was ready to fight. If it wasn’t for Caleb reminding him that he could go to jail Tony would have been down there throwing punches.

To me, Tony’s biggest flaw is his necessity to be the tough boy. He doesn’t allow himself to be vulnerable or open up to those he cares about. I hope this changes in the final season.

Bryce Walker was and will always be a rapist.

This season tried really hard to humanize Bryce, to show that he was capable of change but I wasn’t buying it. I don’t think he was ever remorseful for his actions, I think he only showed remorse when things started to affect his own life. I’ll talk more about that in a different post though.

Bryce is nothing more than a massive manipulator and a rapist.

However, I don’t think he deserved to die. Oddly enough, I think his death benefitted him because he no longer had to live with the fact that he would always be the rapist kid. Bryce deserved to live so that he would have to wake up every morning knowing he was a rapist. He deserved to live with the knowledge that he fucks up everything around him. Death was easy for him, living is where he truly would have suffered.

Montgomery De La Cruz was and will always be a rapist.

Monty was not a good person. He didn’t even attempt to change like Bryce tried to. He was simply a terrible human being. Giving him a troubled home life and having him suffer from internalized homophobia when he was gay does not excuse his behavior.

Monty’s relationship with Winston was a ploy to earn him sympathy and from the looks of it, it worked on some viewers. I’m sorry, thousands of gay individuals have troubled pasts and live with people who don’t accept them but they don’t go sexually assaulting people or beating up those they’ve slept with.

Monty is no better than Bryce; in fact, he might even be worse because he never even acknowledged that what he did was wrong.

If television has taught me anything, it’s never believe someone is dead unless you see a body. Not only did we not see a body, we never saw Monty get into an altercation in the jail. And there are never any hints that he could end his own life. The only source we have that Monty is dead is from some shady drug dealer. It’ll be interesting to the truth next season.

Now for the honorable mentions.

Mrs. Walker had a really interesting journey this season. The complexity of her character was astonishing. I liked that she didn’t make excuses for her son and that she understands that he was (and is) a bad person.

The scene with Chloe where Mrs. Walker tells her that Bryce should never be a father was so powerful. Look, Bryce is Mrs. Walker’s only chance at being a grandmother and she’d sacrifice that experience to save her grandchild and daughter-in-law a life of hell like the one she’s been leading.

When it comes to motherly love everyone always talks about how it’s unconditional. Mrs. Walker’s love wasn’t unconditional. In fact, it took her a long time to look at Bryce and not see the monster that she helped create. I did find her speech at his funeral about sometimes seeing him as a 9-year-old boy moving. I empathize with Mrs. Walker because no mother should have to bury her son. And in the same breath, I almost wonder if Mrs. Walker is relieved that she can finally be free now that all three of the abusive men in her life are gone.

I’m interested to see if she’ll make an appearance in the final season. What is her reaction to the news that Monty is the alleged killer?

If Mrs. Walker is interesting and complex, Mrs. Baker is a damn badass.

Her speech to the Sheriff about how much trouble they're going through to find Bryce’s murder was amazing. I literally stood up and applauded. Mrs. Baker isn’t taking any shit any longer. And she’s certainly going to take any chance she can to point out the injustices in the justice system

And she isn’t going to let Bryce Walker off the hook for what he did to her daughter and dozens of other girls. Mrs. Baker said it best “I wish you a lifetime of learning what sorry is.”

I really enjoyed the scene between Mrs. Baker and Jess. A part of me felt like Mrs. Baker was talking to Hannah through Jess. I think Mrs. Baker sees what Hannah could have been in Jess. I also enjoyed her scene with Clay. It was almost as if she was telling him to tell the police about her so that they would leave Clay alone. Mrs. Baker couldn’t protect Hannah, but she’ll do anything to protect Hannah’s friends.

Finally, I want to talk briefly about Alex’s dad, Deputy Standall. 

There’s no denying that he loves Alex. He would literally do anything for Alex — including jeopardizing his job as a deputy.

In the final episode he tells Alex that when he found him [Alex] after he tried to kill himself, he wished the bullet was in his head. That was a literal and figurative speech. Deputy Standall was admitting that he would take a bullet to protect his son — and he did just that.

Deputy Standall knows the truth. He is a good detective who followed the clues even when the Sheriff was convinced Clay was the murderer. In fact, Deputy Standall even goes off record to ask Ani where his own son was that night. Now, maybe this is a test to see if Ani is telling the truth (since he knows the answer) or maybe it’s a test to see how far she’s willing to go in lying. Either way, Deputy Standall knows the truth.

He knows his son killed or played a part in the murder of Bryce Walker. And yet, he’s willing to risk his career and livelihood, to protect his son from going to prison for the rest of his life.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the final season. Will the truth come out?

Lost and Found - an Ethan Ramsey x MC fanfic

Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x f!MC (Dr. Claire King).

Description: Claire’s friends suspect that she’s dating someone and want to know who. They come up with a good plan to try and figure out who.

Disclaimer: Characters, storyline, and parts of the dialogue are taken from Pixelberry’s Choices’ Open Heart. They fully own the characters, dialogue, backgrounds, etc. MC Claire King’s background is my own creation, based off of MC in-game’s personality.

Author’s Note: Hello! This is my first Open Heart and Ethan Ramsey fanfic. This is an Ethan x MC fanfic in the sense that Claire is pursuing Ethan, but it circles mostly around her friends. Please let me know what you think!

Claire feels the chest underneath her head shift, and she groans in protest, turning her face so she’s burying her face in his chest. Ethan runs his hand delicately along her bedraggled blonde hair. “Claire,” he whispers her name.

“No,” she mumbles, snuggling closer to him. The sunlight hits her eyes, and she furrows her brows. She lazily opens her eyes, and the alarm bells go off when she realizes that it’s day. “Oh my God,” she stutters, throwing herself off of Ethan’s chest. 

“What’s wrong?” he asks, watching her naked body slip out of the sheets. She leans down and picks up her bra. She slides it on hastily and jumps out of bed. 

“I’m not supposed to spend the night,” she says quickly. She searches for her panties on the floor and finds them under the bed. How the hell had they gotten under the bed? Whatever. 

“It’s okay, Claire,” Ethan insists. “Really, it’s fine.”

“I know, I know,” Claire says, and she shrugs her panties on and then reaches for her shirt that Ethan had tossed across the room last night. “I just… I can’t be late.”

“I’m sure it’ll be okay,” he assures her. He raises his brows at her. “Something tells me that your attending will be okay with it.”

She winces at the reminder that Ethan is in fact, still just Dr. Ramsey while they’re at the hospital. After winning her trial in regards to Mrs. Martinez, she and Ethan tried being just colleagues. Clearly they failed, but they decided to keep things quiet, at least until she finished her residency. At that point she’ll become a senior fellow and be studying to become an attending, so at least she and Ethan will be on a more even professional level. Hopefully people won’t be so judgy at that point. There’s the little detail that she’s still on his diagnostics team, but hopefully they’ll become one of those power doctor couples, like Derek Shepherd and Meredith Grey.

“It’s not that,” she says, but she’s giving him a cute smile, which he mirrors at the sight of hers. “I didn’t come home last night. I always come home before my roommates wake up.” She walks over to his side of the bed (she still feels a tingle in her stomach when she refers to Ethan’s bed as having sides, because that implies that she has a claim over half of his bed) and looks for her jeans. “Shit, where are my pants?”

“I think you lost them somewhere in the living room,” he answers, pointing to the doorway. “Why is it so important to go home before your roommates wake up?”

“Because they don’t know that we’re together,” she explains. She runs out of the room and finds her pants on the couch where Ethan had taken them off. She grabs them and starts pulling them on as she runs back to Ethan’s room. He’s still lying in bed, all naked and sexy and sleep-tousled. All she wants to do is crawl into bed next to him and pick off where they left off last night, but she’ll be really late. “And they can’t know that we’re together.” She hopes on one foot as she puts her legs through the holes. “If I come home in broad daylight, they’ll ask questions. More and more until I cave and answer and then this?” She gestures between the two of them. “Will be done. And I can’t let this be done.” She buttons her jeans. Claire grabs her watch off of the side table. “Shit, I can’t make it back home in time to change my clothes.” She slides the watch onto her wrist. “I’ll just change into my scrubs at the hospital.” 

Ethan grabs her wrist and pulls him to his chest. Claire protests but she’s giggling as he drops open mouth kisses to her throat. “You don’t have to go anywhere,” he murmurs against her skin. “You can stay right here. I can put in a good word for you with your boss.”

 He moves lower down her chest, his lips hot and hard. Claire tips her head back and lets out a moan. She dips her head and kisses him, long and hard. Over and over again. Ethan’s fingers creep up her shirt and he’s about to pull it off, but Claire comes back to her senses. She laughs and pulls away from him, moving his hand away from her shirt. “I really have to go.” She kisses him one last time before finally tearing away from him. She pats his cheek. “I’ll see you at the hospital.”

“Five, four, three, two, one!” Elijah says, pointing to the doorway. 

“Elijah, you’ve done that four times now,” Jackie points out, pulling a banana out of her locker. “She’s not going to walk through that door before rounds start.”

“You don’t know that!” Elijah protests. He wheels over to Sienna. “She could be walking through the hospital right now.”

“I’m telling you, it’s gonna be the walk of shame.” Bryce pulls his scrub top on. “Claire is never late to work. I bet you it’s because she got lucky last night.”

“You know, she has been acting weird lately,” Sienna says from her spot on the bench. “Maybe she is seeing someone.”

“‘Seeing someone’ isn’t the phrase I used,” Bryce points out. He bends down to tie his shoelace.

Jackie frowns at him. “What are you even doing here, scalpel jockey? This part of the hospital is reserved for those who can talk to their patients for longer than the five minutes before they’re put under anesthesia.” 

Bryce gives her an unimpressed look. “I’m here to enjoy the Walk of Shame: Claire King edition, just like the rest of you.”

“So what if she’s seeing someone and having sex with them?” Sienna wonders. “There’s nothing wrong with that. She’s an adult. If anything as her friends we should be happy and supportive.”

“We’re not saying that, Sienna,” Bryce says. He leans against the locker beside Jackie. “I’m just saying that she’s clearly dating someone that she doesn’t want us to know.”

“What makes you say that?” Elijah asks.

“If she didn’t have a problem with us knowing who she’s dating, she’d tell us,” Bryce points out. “The fact that she’s not, that she’s sneaking around, coming home late, being late for work, means she doesn’t want us to know who it is.”

“So you think she’s having scandalous sex?” Jackie wonders. “Maybe it’s a gynie.”

Bryce scoffs. “Please, Claire has more standards than to resign herself to someone from the vagina squad.”

“Well then who could it be?” Elijah wonders. 

Bryce’s brow is furrowed, then his eyes light up and he claps his hands. “All right, first person who finds out who Claire’s dating gets fifty bucks from the rest of us.”

“Fifty bucks, huh?” Jackie rubs her chin, then nods. “What the hell? I’m in.”

“Me too!” Sienna says. “It’ll be fun to get Claire to open up to one of us.”

“Fifty bucks is fifty bucks,” Elijah says. He cracks his knuckles. “You’re all about to fifty bucks poorer.”

“So we’re on?” Bryce clarifies.

“We’re on,” they all chorus, and just in time too, because Claire comes barreling through into the locker room. Her blue eyes are wide and wild and her hair is sticking up in different directions, and from the looks of it she’s still wearing her clothes from the previous day. Her friends all swallow their knowing smiles and turn away as she screeches to a stop in front of her locker. 

“Have Zaid and Ines showed up yet?” She asks hastily. She pulls her top over her head and tosses it into the locker, then grabs her scrub top. 

“No, you’re good,” Jackie answers. She crosses her arms over her chest and looks over to her roommates, who are all staring at Claire. Jackie clears her throat and asks, “So where were you last night?”

Claire pauses for a second but then she resumes pulling her pants on. “I was out late.”

“So late you didn’t come home?” Elijah asks.

“I came home,” she lies swiftly. She grabs her lab coat and pulls it on. She takes her stethoscope out of her pocket and wraps it around her neck. She lets out a low growl of frustration as she shifts things around in her locker. “Where the hell is it?”

“Where the hell is what?” Bryce wonders.

“My blue scrunchie,” Claire answers. She looks over her shoulder at her friends. They’re all staring at her strangely, but she ignores it. “My favourite blue scrunchie? I always wear it. It’s the only thing that can keep my hair out of my face properly.”

“Sorry, don’t know,” Sienna replies with a raise of her shoulder.

“Damn it,” Claire curses. She peeks into her locker again, but their pages all go off. 

“Incoming trauma,” Elijah says what all their pagers say. He tucks his back into his pocket. “Let’s go.” 

                                                            ***

Most of the incoming traumas are surgical cases resulting from a multiple car pile up, so the diagnostic interns let the surgical intern take the patients. Instead the rest of them check on the patients whose injuries aren’t surgical, who need stitches or bump checks or concussion exams. By the time they’re done, Claire heads to a quiet hall and slumps against the wall, dropping down to sit. 

After a minute or so Elijah appears, stopping his wheelchair in front of Claire. “That was a doozy, huh?”

“Yeah,” Claire mumbles. Her stomach growls, and she rubs at the gnawing pain. She missed her breakfast and a quick glance down at her watch shows it to be almost eleven. 

“So are you dating somebody?” Elijah asks bluntly.

Claire blinks at him. Several alarm bells are going off in her head. Does he know? Does he know somehow? She and Ethan have been so careful! “What?” 

“You just… you didn’t come home last night,” Elijah replies sheepishly. He figured that a direct approach would be the best one, but judging on the offended look on Claire’s face she doesn’t appreciate it. “And I know you’re lying, because I spent the night passed out on the couch after reading a medical journal. I didn’t hear anyone come in or out.” 

“So the only conclusion is that I’m sleeping with someone?” she asks. “What if I went to go visit a friend?”

Elijah gives her a look. “Claire, you practically live at this hospital. You don’t have any other friends.”

“Ow,” she says, holding out her hands in offence. “That may be true but no need to just put it out there like that.”

“Sorry,” Elijah mumbles. “Are you, though?”

Before Claire can think of an excuse to give him, her pager beeps. She lifts it to her face to see that it’s in fact her boyfriend Ethan Ramsey paging her. She pushes herself off of the ground. “Gotta go, Dr. Ramsey’s paging me.”

“Oh, okay,” Elijah says as she walks around him. He turns his wheelchair around. “Hey, maybe we can continue this talk-”

But Claire’s already gone, lost in the sea of other medical practitioners down the hall.

“Later.” 

Damn. He’s going to be fifty bucks poorer, huh?

                                                          ***

Ethan had paged her to debrief her on a new case (and okay, to sneak a few kisses here and there in his private office) but once they’re done Claire decides to get some lunch before afternoon rounds. She missed breakfast because she slept over at Ethan’s and then didn’t have the time to grab anything. It’s been a year but she’s still not one hundred percent behind the hospital food, but she has no choice. She stands in line and grabs a sandwich, a salad, and an apple. She pays for her meal and then collapsing at a table.

Claire’s about to dig in when Sienna slides in the seat next to her. “Hello, sunshine!” she greets brightly. 

Claire holds up a finger. “Wait.” She picks up her sandwich and takes a large bite. She chews and then swallows, then nods and turns to her friend. “Okay, now I can talk.”

Sienna giggles, picking up her own fork. “Hungry today, are we?”

“Starving.” She takes another bite. “I didn’t have breakfast this morning.”

Sienna perks up. Perfect segway. She twirls her fork around in her hand a couple of times and asks, “Why not?”

Claire freezes momentarily but recovers quickly and takes a sip of her water. “Running late for rounds. Just didn’t have the time.”

“Why were you running late?” she asks. She scoots her chair closer to Claire, and Claire frowns and pulls away from Sienna a bit. 

She looks Sienna up and down. “Personal space, please?” 

Sienna pouts but moves away from Claire. “Okay, will you answer me now?”

“I was just caught in traffic,” Claire lies quickly. She picks up her fork and jabs at her salad. “Nothing else.”

“Really?” Sienna whispers. She leans close to Claire again. “You can tell me, you know.”

Claire, intrigued, also leans forward a bit. “Tell you what?”

“If you’re seeing someone!”

Claire drops her fork in surprise. “What?” 

“I’ve been wondering for a while now. If you’ve been seeing someone. You’ve been a lot happier than you’ve been in a while. I was just wondering who.”

Was she and Ethan really that bad at hiding their relationship? Maybe not, because as far as she knows it’s only Claire that’s being asked about her relationship status. 

She opens her mouth to try and come up with a good lie when someone slams a tray down next to them. Both she and Sienna jump in surprise, and then look up to see Ines and Zaid sitting down at their table. 

“Claire! Sienna! Mind if we join you?” Ines asks, already scooting her chair into the table.

“For the record I wanted to sit elsewhere,” Zaid volunteers without anyone asking. He picks up his spoon and picks up some soup, slurping on it gently. 

Ines swats his shoulder. “Zaid, manners!” she scolds, but she turns back to Claire and Sienna. “Anyways, I wanted an update on your patient in room 324.” 

Claire lets out a relieved sigh and dives into the information on Kelly Long, the patient in room 324. She’d dodged yet another bullet.

                                                        ***

After lunch are the afternoon rounds, and Claire has hers with Jackie which frankly she’s relieved about. After her stressful trauma morning and then Elijah and Sienna hinting that they may know that she’s dating Ethan, she’s glad to have Jackie by her side, who never pries into her personal life. 

They’re walking side by side, charts in their arms, when all of a sudden Jackie asks, “Do you think Bryce is hot?”

Claire fumbles with the files in her arms in surprise. “Why? Are you interested in him?”

“What?” Jackie scoffs. “God no. Too much penis for me.”

Claire chuckles. “Then why are you asking?”

“I’m asking for you,” Jackie clarifies, and Claire’s face drops. “Do you think he’s hot?”

“Did Bryce ask you to ask me that?” Claire wonders. Her stomach squeezes at the thought. Sure, she made out with Bryce her first day as an intern, but after that the two had become good friends, and then she fell for Ethan and made sure Bryce knew that what they had between them was strictly platonic. Or so she thought. 

“Oh, no,” Jackie backsteps. 

Claire sighs in relief. “Good. Bryce and I are just friends.”

“Good to know,” Jackie says with a smirk. “I can cross him off, then.”

“Cross him off what?”

“The list that I made about who you’re hooking up with,” Jackie answers.

Claire whips her head to look at her in surprise. “Excu-” she starts, but she’s cut off by the sound of her smacking right into wall. She drops all the charts in her hands, and the papers fly out everywhere. Her nose gushes blood, and she pinches it to keep more from coming out. 

Jackie makes a face. “Ooh, that’s got to hurt.”

Claire stares at Jackie in disbelief and lets out a tiny groan of pain.

                                                         ***

Claire winces as Bryce pulls on a pair of gloves. “Come on it’s not that bad, you big baby,” he says with an eye roll. He grabs the forceps in the kit next to him, and then uses it to pick up a piece of gauze. 

“Is it broken?” She asks. She really doesn’t want to go home to Ethan with a broken nose. Having a broken nose would really deter the hot sex she’s anticipating tonight. Broken noses are not sexy. 

“I don’t think so.” He blots at the blood around her nose. “The blood’s already stopped, so it’s probably just bruised.”

“Thank you, doctor,” she says with a silly grin, but that grin contorts as he dabs at a particularly sensitive part. “Ow.”

“Sorry,” he says. He pauses to move some hair strands out of her face. 

She groans and tucks her hair around her ears. “Sorry. I can’t find my damn scrunchie.”

“Did you check the lost and found?”

“No, but I should.” She winces again when he wipes under her nose. “Ow!”

“Sorry!” Bryce says again. “How’d this happen, anyways?”

“Ran into a wall while talking to Jackie,” she replies. “I was surprised by what she said, and I wasn’t paying attention, so I ran into the wall.”

“Surprised by what she said?” Bryce repeats, and his mind goes to the bet that he and his roommates made earlier in the day. Damn it. Jackie was at least getting somewhere if Claire was so surprised by what she said she ran into a damn wall. 

“She asked me a question,” Claire clarifies. “I wasn’t expecting it. Ergo, nose bleed.”

He drops the forceps and used gauze into the metal bin. “Okay, so I don’t think you need an x-ray. There was minimal blood and minimal bruising, so I think you’re good.” 

“Great,” Claire says. She hops off of the exam table. “I’m going to go get a pain meds prescription.”

She heads towards the door, and Bryce realizes that this may be his only opportunity to find out who she’s dating. So he blurts out, “Wanna have sex?”

Claire pauses with her hand on the door. She looks over her shoulder at Bryce. “Excuse me?”

He nods around at the empty exam room. “There’s nobody in here, will probably be no one in here for a while.” He looks behind him at the exam table and gestures to it. “There’s a bed.” He looks back over at Claire. “Wanna have sex?”

Claire furrows her brows at him. “Bryce, I’m gonna say this as nicely as possible.” She turns to face him and puts her hands in her pockets. “I’m not interested. I only like you as a friend.”

“And you’re seeing someone,” Bryce adds.

“And I’m seeing someone,” Claire nods, and she realizes the mistake she’s made. Her eyes widen and her hand flies to her mouth. 

“Ah hah!” Bryce points to her with his finger. “Who are you sleeping with?”

She drops her hand from her mouth. “So not your business!” She opens the door and storms out, shutting the door behind her. 

Stupid! Stupid! She thinks to herself as she strides down the hall. She was so close to accidentally revealing her relationship with Ethan. Multiple times! In one day. Ugh, she never should’ve been late for work this morning. That was the last time she stays over at Ethan’s. 

And she still misses her scrunchie.

It’s the end of the day, and all of the interns are hanging out on the stairs by the nurse’s station. Claire is standing at the nurses station, scribbling something down in a chart. She looks up at her group of friends, then turns her nose up and looks away from them. 

“I guess we deserve that,” Bryce says, leaning against the rail. 

“You’re not the one who accidentally made her break her nose,” Jackie mumbles, sipping from a juice box she stole from a patient’s tray. 

“So did anybody end up finding out?” Sienna asks. 

“I didn’t get anywhere,” Elijah says. “You?”

They all shake their heads. “I really thought I’d get her to open up,” Sienna says. “We’re dolphins!”

“I don’t know what that means, but it would’ve been nice to have something to tease her about,” Bryce says. “I wonder who it is, though.”

Claire peers up at her friends sitting at the bottom of the staircase. She shakes her head at them and hands the chart to the nurse. She pockets her pen and then stalks over to them. “I don’t know what got into everyone today,” Claire starts. “But my personal life is off limits to you guys. You’re all my people, my family,” she continues. “But that doesn’t mean I have to tell you all the details of what or who,” she gives them all a pointed look. “I do in my private time.” She crosses her arms over her chest. “I love you all. But what I’ve got going on with this person is fragile and new and I don’t want to mess it up or jinx it. So please.” She clasps her hands in a prayer position. “If any of you care about me like I hope you do, you’ll keep your noses in your own business. Are we clear?”

A wave of shame crosses the face of her roommates in turn. They all shift uncomfortably but eventually nod. 

“Good,” she says.

Just then, Dr. Ramsey passes by the group. He nods at them all as he does, coming to a stop next to Claire. “What’s going on?” 

“Nothing,” they all chorus.

“Nothing? Really?” he repeats. He glares at them all, including Claire, but she knows that his annoyance at her is just for show-mostly. “This is a hospital. There is always something going on. And if there’s not, then why are you hanging around here, on the stairs?” He waves at them and then places his hand in his pocket. “Go!”

They all scramble to their feet, and Claire moves to follow her friends. Claire looks over her shoulder at Ethan, just in time to see him bring his hand out of his pocket, holding… 

Her eyes widen to the size of saucers and her eyes shoot up to her forehead. “The hell?” Ethan says as he examines what’s in his hand. 

Bryce, Jackie, Sienna, and Elijah all also turn to see what’s got Dr. Ramsey so perplexed, and their jaws all drop comically at the same time at the sight. 

Ethan shakes his head and holds the thing out to Claire. “King, drop whatever this is off to lost and found on your way home.” 

Claire swallows back her dread as she takes her blue scrunchie out of Ethan’s hand. Now that it’s back in her hand, the memory of where it went floods her mind. She and Ethan had been fooling around in a supply closet, and he pulled her scrunchie out of her hair to run his fingers through it. She’d thought it was so hot, and then she reattached her lips to his. “Of course, Dr. Ramsey,” She stammers. 

He smiles at her and pats her on the arm before walking down the hall. Slowly, Claire turns around to face her friends, the dread and horror unable to leave her face. 

They’re all staring at her with a look she’s sure she has on her face right now, but they’ve also got confusion mixed with it. 

They all stand there for one minute. Then two. Then three. 

Finally, Bryce opens his mouth. “So who’s getting the fifty bucks?”

Open Heart Book 1 Finale Rant:

Let me start by saying that this will probably be one of my last analytical posts for a while. That makes me a little sad but I'm also very grateful to all of you who read my posts and motivated me to keep on writing. Truly, I had the time of my life writing the analyses. Now, this post was getting too long so I chopped it off I two parts- this one which is a general recap and my comment on the chapter and another one which I will be posting later today which will be purely about Ethan and MC's relationship. So y'all are looking at a LOT of content to read, I'm apologizing before hand! Okay no more sad talk except the evident fact that today was Open Heart Book 1 finale. Which means we'll have to live without Ethan Ramsey and the squad for quite some time. But focusing on the better things today:

The finale was everything! I felt a wave of emotions as I played it. I felt joy, triumph, anger, passion and hope all at the same time. Let's talk about what happened. (My MC is female, pronouns: she/her) So, Declan (or should I say Dick-lan) Nash had quite a few tricks up his sleeve huh, getting Dr. Cyrus and Dr. Wen to wager for him, lol, he really underestimated MC and the team of people backing her up.

I think it was a group effort when it comes to saving MC's career where MC of course deserves maximum of the credit because of all the patients who testified (Willow, Remy, Jake and Annie for me) on her behalf- if she hadn't gone above and beyond for her patients they wouldn't have given such honest and positive statements on her behalf. So props to MC, first! Then, props to the amazing friends MC has.. Sienna, Elijah, Rafael, Jackie, Bryce.. I mean those guys are basically her support system. Without them hyping her up and motivating her, her case would've fallen flat. Also, we can't forget Ines and Zaid, they're polar opposites and have weird ways of showing their love for MC but they've always been there for her. (even Zaid lmao ikr he's a total softie at heart) And most importantly, her friends always stood up for her. So here's to MC's friends!

Next up, to Ethan Ramsey (the light of MC's/my life) who really did not disappoint when he said he wasn't out of tricks. This man really went above and beyond to get hold of Mrs. Martinez's son and show him how happy his mother was before she passed away. Even if Ethan wasn't your LI and was just your mentor, he kind of singlehandedly saved MC from the potential lawsuit. It shows how much he cares about her, romantically or otherwise. He thinks MC is one of the best doctors he has ever seen and he did everything in his power to make sure, MC could be the doctor she has always wanted to be. That man cares for MC and even though he won't say it explicitly, his actions do much more than his words ever could. Therefore, Ethan Jonah Ramsey, the light of my life, here's to you. The man who cares for MC beyond all words. Even when MC herself has accepted that Ethan won't be able to help her out, Ethan kept pushing himself to find some loophole so that he could help her. And he did exactly that. That's why, I stan one (1) man.😌🥂

Next up, of course, is my moody baby yet smol bean Aurora Emery. She had her own way of standing up for MC. Like she said, "That wasn't for you, MC. That was for me." Maybe her intentions were to stand up for herself but doing so, in the process, she stood up for MC and finally knocked some sense into Harper Emery. I think her whole rant to Harper is one of the major reasons why Harper voted for MC to stay. So thanks, Aurora. Here's looking forward to actually being friends with her... or more. *wink*

Last but not the least, we have *drumrolls please* Dr. Naveen Banerji, who is now miraculously cured by MC's brilliant epiphany and Ethan's genius mind. I kinda expected Naveen to enter at the last moment but when he actually did, I swear I squealed like a five year old as if I hadn't been reading all the theories all week round about him walking in at the last moment. Anyways, I love that old man with my whole damn heart. He's literally like a father to MC like he's to Ethan. A grandmentor, if you will. And just like MC saved his life, he in turn saved MC's life=career. We've reached a full circle, my friends. So here's to you Naveen, nay the force be with you. (Y'all see what I did there? No? Okay, why do I try to be funny...)

So, basically Landry is gone. FOR GOOD. I'm glad PB didn't force a redemption arc on us. While I'm happy that Landry brought Naveen down, I don't think that one action forgives all the terrible things he has done. So bye bye dirty Laundry, here's hoping I never see you again. Also YAY! AURORA IS OUR NEW ROOMMATE. Not confirmed yet, but y'all know she'll say yes. Sienna has a crush on Danny- YAS OTP. But I do realise that we'll probably have to pay diamonds to set them up next book. Elijah and Phoebe going strong- YAS ANOTHER OTP. Jackie finally admitting defeat that MC would probably win the competition - HELL YAS, now that was a good redemption arc. Overall, I'm very happy how the things turned out for MC's friends.

Now, like I said at the starting of the post, I'll talk about Ethan and MC in detail in my next post but to sum it up, Ethan and MC had mind-blowing sex one last time before they had to face the reality of their situation. Now, I don't necessarily think they're back to square one because let's be real, you clearly care about the other person, you've had sex with them and you kiss them like there's no tomorrow, you can't really expect for nothing to happen even in a professional setting. Like, I do respect MC and Ethan's commitment to their job but then I think they can find some time for themselves.. you know.. for talking.. and dating.. and doing other things. Also, MC's friends finding out about her and Ethan- THAT SCENE WAS EVERYTHING I EVER HOPED FOR. Also, Naveen choosing MC for the position in the diagnostics team was already foreshadowed but I swear that man is the biggest Ethan×MC shipper. He's here for the angst, the mutual pining and he's sure as hell gonna enjoy how long these two struggle before finally giving in. Anyways, I won't lie but even though I'm a little sad that MC and Ethan aren't (officially) a couple, (we all know they've been married for over a year now) I think it will be nice to see the angst and this new phase of their relationship where MC directly works under Ethan and he gets to mentor her even more closely. It will be fun to see their mutual pining now that they've finally pulled the plug and had sex and kind of fallen in love with each other. The angst will be great and like I said earlier, along with Naveen it will be fun for us to see how long these two struggle before they finally give in and say,"Fuck work ethics. Adrian Raines knew better."

So, that's the end of this rant. The Ethan×MC post will be up soon. I want it to be special, like Ethan once said. And here's hoping they release book two soon although rationally speaking I don't see the book coming this summer. It'll probably release in fall. Guess we gotta wait, but some things are simply worth the wait. And I guess, we're all fighting the inevitable. *wink*

Answers:

How did you guys come up with the idea for the CGW Universe? AND How did you decide to do this?

It all sort of started with a bunch of asks Pam was doing for friends, pairing their real life personas with their love interests. She wrote Never Give Up for Alicia and since we were all friends, she added Gen and Rashad, Anitah and Liam and Drake and Pam in, just for fun. The four of us talked alot and happened to all have different LI’s, so it just worked. There was alot of positive feedback and we started joking around about how much trouble we could all get in if we went to Vegas together. We were laughing so hard all our sides hurt. Next thing we knew Anitah was writing One Night in Vegas. We can honestly say we started CGW for us. We didnt really think people would be that interested in reading it. But we had so much fun writing it, like side splitting, up until 2 am laughing so hard we were crying, fun. So we kept going….and here we are!

Did Drake have feelings for Anitah like in the books? I don’t recall ever seeing this talked about in CGW.

This Universe follows the books pretty closely (minus book 3), but that's one change we did make. Drake and Anitah were close like in the books, but more of a brother and sister bond, never any romantic feelings.

How close is Anitah to Canon?

Anitah is pretty close to canon. Books 1 & 2 are basically the same (minus any relationship or feelings for Drake). Book 3 is gone. There was no Anton in our happy CGW world, and there was no unity tour. However, that doesn’t mean something (angsty) won’t happen in the future.

Why hasn’t Brad quit? The money cannot be worth what he has to endure. AND How hasn’t Brad quit yet? No amount of money is worth that abuse.

Look, Brad knows it’s all in good fun, and he gets snippy and sassy all on his own with the Queen and other ladies. We love, love, love Brad and he knows it. He might be a tad scared of the King, but he knows Anitah would have his back when push came to shove.

What’s Anitah’s biggest fear?

On a not deep level, Clowns. She hates clowns, any and everything to do with clowns. Which is why Liam and the other guys challenged the ladies to watch the entire IT movie, because they’re mean and thought it would be an easy way to win a bet but they only ended up getting their asses kicked (literally). On a deeper level- losing anyone she loves, especially Liam. It was explained in the ‘I’ll Stand By You’ 2 parter about her parents and what happened, and why she feels the way she does. So she’s afraid of losing anyone else she cares about.

How did Maxwell end up being an honorary squad member?

When we first started writing the group fics, we all agreed that Maxwell would be more like us, to get into the antics and fuel our love for shenanigans and would want to partake in them with us. We love Maxwell and his quirks and how much fun he is, even though half the time he ends up (unknowingly) spilling our secrets by taking pictures or posting on social media so the other guys find us or find out what we did lol.

Why is your FC for Bastien not Fabricio Zunino? Is it too late to make Fabricio Zunino your FC for him...?

We didn't use Fabricio Zunino for a few reasons.

1) Fabricio’s FC is hot and should be used when he's a LI.

2) We wanted our Bastien to be more fatherly. So we chose an older FC that's still kinda sexy.

It is too late to make him Bastien’s fc because look...

Are any of you guys into Open Heart? If you are into Open Heart, what are the chances of Dr. Ramsey making an appearance?

@leelee10898 is the only one of us that reads Open Heart. She's a Bryce stan. @speedyoperarascalparty and @ao719 can't bring themselves to cheat on Drake and Liam. @cocomaxley is a whore for Mr. Sinclaire.

Sorry, no. Chances are Dr. Ramsey won't make an appearance. We haven't entertained any crossovers because some of us (everyone stare at @ao719) doesn't play any of the other books.

Have you guys ever met in person? If you haven’t met in person, would you guys want to, and do you think your day could potentially be almost as eventful as your CGW versions of you?

We haven't met in person, but would love to! It likely won't be as eventful as CGW, but we can guarantee we would likely laugh so hard we'd pee our pants. We already make each other laugh until we're crying and can't breathe.

Are you guys all married with kids?

We all have babies and married big man babies.

I know Drammy is still trying, but will you guys do baby stories for the births and stuff? I’d love to see the guys reactions to becoming daddies AND Will there be a fic about the babies birth?

Yes!! The ladies who are pregnant are already hard at work planning fics about the babies births and after. In fact, we think Alicia and Leo are due soon! Drammy's story will continue with either getting pregnant or processing their feelings about not being able to.

What were Anitah and Alicia like when they were younger? Did they ever date brothers before? Since they are married to brothers now.

Alicia and Anitah were angels with horns. They got into tons of trouble and hijinks growing up. They dated brothers before. They were hot firemen, pretty to look at, but nobody was home upstairs. They called them the meat head bros.

Did Leo ever meet Alicia’s parents?

Leo has met her parents...you will see this at some point.

Do any of the squad have siblings?

Alicia is the only one with siblings. 1 sister (Alexis) and one brother (Andrew). They are twins and older then Alicia.

Tell us a secret about Pam.

Jessica - Montgomery De La Cruz

There was one thing everyone knew about Montgomery De La Cruz, other than the fact that you couldn’t call him Montgomery, he would go to the ends of the earth to protect his little sister, Y/N. Ever since she was born, Monty had protected her and had been there for her. He never once blew her off or acted embarrassed when she clung to him, (truthfully, sometimes he asked her to be extra clingy). She was the only reason besides the team that he was living and breathing. She could do no wrong in his eyes. And as much as the other guys liked to give him shit for how much of a "pussy" he was when it came to her, they all were protective of her too. Especially since she had started high school.

--- Monty laughed as he watched Zach and Justin start to arm wrestle, watching as they hit their elbows on the lockers since they just had their arms hanging in midair. Bryce shakes his head, chuckling at the two. "You guys are idiots." Alex scoffs playfully, "I thought all you guys were." Zach moves away from Justin, a smirk on his face. "Oh, come on, Standall. We know you like us." He teases, pulling the smaller boy into a headlock. Alex struggles for a minute before Zach lets him go, Alex rolls his eyes at the tall jock. "Just because I like hanging out with you guys doesn't mean, I'm not going to call you out for what you are." Monty goes to reply, but hears a small voice say his name. He turns around, seeing his little sister. Tears in her eyes as she hugs herself. "What happened?" Monty asks her, pulling her into a hug, the good mode leaving. Everyone growing somber as they watch the siblings. Y/N shakes her head, not wanting to tell him what happened. "Please just hold me." She whispers. Monty holds her tighter against him, waiting a few seconds to turn around so he and the rest of the group can share a look. Someone skids to halt in front of the group, a minute later, their eyes immediately zeroing in on Justin. "You need to control your fucking girlfriend." Scott tells him, casting a worried glance at Y/N. Jeff nods, agreeing with Scott, as he appears beside him. Justin furrows his eyebrows, "What do you mean?" Jeff gives him a sorry look, "Dude, I usually would never say this about a woman, but she needs to get the shit kicked out of her." "Well, what did she do?" Justin asks, confused, as is the rest of the group. Y/N breaks out of her brothers hold, tears streaming down her face as she looks at Scott and Jeff. A pleading look in her eyes. "Please, leave it alone." Jeff takes a step towards her, resting a hand on her shoulder. "Would you rather they hear it from someone else?" Y/N looks in his eyes for something and then Scott's before her shoulders drop in defeat. "Tell them." She says as she goes back to her brother, wrapping her arms around him. Never wanting to miss an opportunity to hug his sister, he does the same, running his hands up and down her back. "What did Jessica do?" Bryce asks. Jeff and Scott exchange a look before Scott answers. "She started saying some shit. At first it was just about the girls in her grade, but then she jumped to Y/N. Called her a slut because she is constantly hanging out with you guys and she-" Scott takes a deep breath, not even wanting to think about what she said, much less say it to Monty, who would without a doubt actually try to kill her when he heard this. Jeff squeezes Scott's shoulder, taking over for him. "She then loudly announced to the whole courtyard that she was more than certain that she has seen Y/N and Monty have sex, and that the reason Monty is protective is because Y/N isn’t just his little sister, but also his plaything." Jeff spits out the last word with venom, hating that this was happening. Everyone looks at the two in shock. "You’re fucking with us, right?" Justin asks, in disbelief. Scott shakes his head, "Sadly no. So, like I said, control your fucking girlfriend." "Yeah, well she's not my problem anymore." Justin tells him, not wanting to look at Jessica after this. "She's done, ruined." Everyone makes noises of agreement, except two people, making the rest of the group look at the siblings. Monty's jaws clenched, eyes shut tight, his hands lying flat on Y/Ns back as he reminds himself who exactly is touching him currently. "Jeff, take Y/N." Monty says through gritted teeth, eyes opening, a fire in them they've never seen before. Jeff not wanting to risk Y/N getting hurt, grabs her around the waist, pulling her away from Monty, but her hands grip his shirt tightly. "Please, Monty. Don't do it." She begs, tears streaming down her face, not wanting her brother to do anything stupid. Monty brings his hands up to her face, the fire in his eyes dimming slightly, as he wipes away the tears. "I'm not going to touch her, Y/N. I'm just going to talk to her." He presses a kiss to Y/N’s forehead, before removing her hands from his shirt, quickly turning around so he doesn't have to see her. Jeffs arms tighten around her waist as Y/N thrashes in his arms. "Please, Monty." She cries, making Monty's shoulder tense up, he swallows hard before walking to where he knows Jessica is. Shouting to the group, "Don't let her get near me until after I’m cooled down!" The group looks at each other and nods, knowing that it’s best unless it becomes worst case scenario.

Y/N stops thrashing in Jeff's arms, still crying. "I want to watch. If he's going to talk to her I want to watch." "I don't think that's a good-" Scott starts but is cut off by Zach. "No, she should watch. Jessica could say the wrong thing, and there is no one in there who can hold him back like we can or calm him down like she can." They all nod to what Zach says, going to the courtyard where Jessica is. When they get there, Jeff quickly transfers Y/N into Scott's arms. "You have enough muscle to hold her back, but it's going to take Bryce, Zach, Justin, and me to hold Monty back if this goes wrong." Jeff tells him, as they stop walking, stopping a few steps away from where Jessica and Monty are, the former not having seen Monty yet. Monty, quickly gets tired of the waiting act, "How you doing today, Jessica?" Jessica turns around to look at him, surprised. "I'm doing fine, Monty." Jessica looks to the side and see's Y/N, "You fucking told people, I hit you?" Jessica asks, outraged. Y/N quickly shakes her head and goes to speak, but is cut off by Jeff, venom leaking from his voice. "She didn't have to say anything, when nearly a hundred people saw it and some recorded it." Jessica looks as pale as a ghost, realizing she's done for. In a last effort, she locks eyes with Justin. "Baby, please it's just a misunderstanding." She lies. Justin shakes his head, "Don't bother, Jessica. We're done." Sheri grips Jessica's wrist, "C'mon, we're going to coach." As they walk past Y/N, Sheri smiles at the girl. "You ever need to escape from the testosterone, call me." She winks at the younger girl, making the girl smile slightly until her eyes go back to her brother. Y/N tries to escape Scott's grip, but it's just as tight as it was during the interaction between Monty and Jessica. "Let go of me, Scott." His grip only tightens, "I really don't think that's a good idea." He says, not missing how Monty looks like he's five seconds from punching a wall. She struggles against Scott's grip, seeing what he’s seeing, "Please, I don't want him to hurt his hand." Scott shakes his head. She stops struggling against him, making him think he won before she starts speaking. "Monty." She calls, getting no reaction, she tries again. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, "Monty, please. I need you, it really hurts." Monty’s head snaps up, anger going to the back of his head, "What hurts?" He takes a few steps forward. Y/N goes to step forward, only to be still stopped by Scott's arms. "Let go of me, Scott." She says again, only this time Monty hears it as he realizes that she isn't being held by Jeff, but by Scott. Monty takes another step forward, "Let her go, Reed." Scott's arms immediately retract at the tone of Monty's voice. Y/N quickly walks over to Monty, tucking herself into his side, as Monty glares at Jeff. "I left her with you." Monty says, not having wanted Scott to touch her since he had a crush on her. Jeff raises his arms, "Sorry, man. We didn't know what was going to happen."

Monty doesn’t even acknowledge that he heard the other baseball player, focusing on the girl by his side. “Where did she hit you?”

Y/N moves her hand to her cheek, wincing slightly as her hand comes into contact with the bruised skin.

Monty frowns, moving so he’s in front of her. His hands resting on her neck, so he can tilt her head around. “I don’t see a bruise.” He tells her.

“You’re not suppose to. I covered it with makeup.”

His frown deepens, “Let’s go home.”

Y/N would usually protest, but after everything she just wants to go home and cuddle with her brother and forget everything that happened. She willingly lets him tug her away from the group, his arm instantly going over her shoulder to keep her close as they fast walk to the parking lot.

They barely see anyone on the way to Monty’s jeep and no one says anything to them, until one Clay Jensen.

Clay’s eyes widen as he sees Y/N, having been in the courtyard when Jessica had ranted and then hit the girl. He doesn't even notice Montgomery as he speeds over to the girl.

“Are you okay, Y/N?” Clay asks.

Y/N nods, a fake smile on her face. Not that she was bothered by Clay’s presence, she liked the boy. She just didn't want to see anyone. “I'm fine. Monty’s taking me home.”

Clay’s eyes widen as he realizes Montgomery is right by her.

“I-I, I hope you feel better.” He goes to walk around them, but stops to say one last thing. “Don’t worry about what Jessica said. People will forget.” And with that he walks away, wishing she had been alone so he could say one other thing to her.

Monty’s hand loosens up around her shoulder, having been gripping her tightly to the near point of pain during the interaction. “Since when do you talk to Jensen?”

She sighs, “since he started tutoring Jeff.”

He looks at her confused, “why are you there doing his tutoring sessions?”

“I have to do something while you’re practicing.” Y/N tells him.

Monty looks down at his shoes, feeling slightly guilty that he always makes his sister stay after with him. “I’m sorry.”

Y/N smiles softly at him, “It’s okay, Monty.” She waits a few seconds, “I love you.” She whispers.

A smile appears on his lips at her words as they step in front of his jeep. “Love you, Y/N.” He tells her, before pressing a kiss to her forehead.

13 Reasons Why Season 2

A thorough analysis

Okay, so I just finished it and ...wow...

(spoilers ahead)

The plot

I loved the fact that Hannah wasn’t the narrator of this season and every episode had a different one so we could see the other characters’ truth and their stories

The way they handled Jessica’s recovery was beautiful and realistic. Her not feeling comfortable talking about her rape in public, eventually going to group therapy and being willing to help other girls who had gone through similar things

Alex’s recovery was also great and I particularly loved Zach’s part in it

 I loved how it showed that most teens (excluding Bryce and Montgomery of course) weren’t bad people, they had made mistakes and did reckless things in order to protect other people and most of them were willing to testify the truth eventually

So.much.character.development.

The idea with the polaroids was brilliant, but I wish we saw them more throughout the season

This season doesn’t revolve as much around Hannah and Clay as around how everyone is coping after the events in s1, their mourning and their moving on

I believe this season really sheds light on difficult matters like sexual assault, bullying, gun violence and substance abuse by depicting them realistically and showing their consequences, thus achieving the series’ goal: to start a conversation 

The characters

Hannah

As I said before, I liked that this season didn’t focus too much on Hannah and gave more space to the other characters. It was also good that they showed how Hannah was a flawed person who had made mistakes (she had contributed in bullying a girl in her previous school)

Clay

Well, I understand that Clay must be going through a lot (they all are) but that doesn’t change the fact that he behaves egoistically sometimes. He is quick to judge everyone else and condemn them for their part in Hannah’s story,but he very rarely includes himself and his mistakes in that. However, he is still a very good character and i liked him a lot.

Jessica

I loved her so much this season. She went through a lot and she is a fighter and she did great in every episode. I believe she still has a long road to recovery but she will definitely stay strong

Alex

First of all, I’M SO GLAD HE DIDN’T DIE. He is literally so strong in this season, not only having a physical burden, due to his attempted suicide, but also a phychological one. I’m sure he feels guilty and pressured and everyone is treating him like a ticking bomb, give him a break :(

Justin

To me, he is one of the characters that stole the show this season. His development, his story, helping Clay and the rest, finally having a family etc. I loved him since s1, but now i love hime like, a thousand times more. I only hope nothing bad happens to him next season, if we have one (with the whole heroin story)

Zach

In the beginning, we didn’t know where his loyalty lay, but in the end we saw him supporting the truth. So much development from season 1

Tony

I like how we saw more of his personal story this season than his story with the tapes. He wasn’t the guy who followed Clay around to make sure he listened to the tapes, he was the guy with anger issues, who was in probation, who once beat up a man for calling him and Ryan faggots, who had a relationship etc. He grew a lot this season

Courtney

We didn’t really see a lot of her this season but i loved her and the fact that she came out and also supported Jessica and the rest. I really ship her with her girlfriend and I hope we see more of them in the future (again, if there is another season)

Sheri

She was amazing and deserved more screen time.

Tyler

He was the first to testify and reveal his truth and everyone gave him shit he didn’t deserve for that. Throughout the season, we see bad things happening to him, resulting in him accumulating too much anger he couldn’t suppress. I really believed he was truly changed in the end and if montgomery didn’t do that fucked up thing to him, he wouldn’t try to to do a school shooting

Ryan

I liked him a lot this season and his relationships with Hannah, Courtney and Tony:)

Mrs. Baker

I loved her fighting for her daughter in this season she was so strong, she deserves all the happiness

Mr. Porter

It was obvious in this season that he felt a lot of guilt for not doing his best to prevent Hannah from commiting suicide. He more than made up for his obliviousness in the first season by trying to help every student and support the truth. He had one of the best character developments

The relationships

Hannah and Zach

It was so unexpected, but they are so good for each other!

Jessica and Justin

I know it’s probably not very healthy for both of them, but i am very glad they had this moment in the finale. Maybe they’ll brush it  off and say it was nothing important, but i think they still have feelings for each other

Alex and Zach

I really loved how close they got, with Zach helping Alex and everything

Alex and Jessica

I really like them as friends but not as a couple:/ I think Jessica is better with Justin and Alex with Zach:)

Clay and Justin

Personally, i wanted these two to become friends since s1 and i was so pleasantly sorprised when it really happened. I LOVE the fact that the Jensens will adopt Justin

In the end, they all stood up for each other.

You and Chloe Rice are discussing your upcoming cheer tournament after practice on Thursday afternoon. She has always told you that you are the most valuable asset on the cheer squad, basically gushing to you after each and every practice about how well you did that day. You have a hard time seeing her as a genuine person, though, especially since she is Bryce Walker's girlfriend. You know full well Bryce is not a good person, almost every girl at Liberty made you aware of that the day you arrived at the school, having moved recently from Oklahoma. Each time you talk to Chloe, you are nervous. You of course have to play nice around her though, if you want to stay on the team, that is.

To be honest, though, you are highly considering quiting the cheer squad. You cannot stand the way your team treats some of your friends, especially your crush, Tyler Down. Tyler is an incredibly sweet boy who does nothing to deserve the poor treatment he receives each and every day by the popular kids at Liberty, some of whom are your very own friends.

You first approached Tyler after you saw him run off with tears in his eyes one day after a few girls on your team screamed at him after he had asked to take a few pictures of them for yearbook. "That is so bitchy of them," you thought. "That yearbook boy is just trying to do his job." He was grateful when you went over to him, offering him a tissue and some kind words. You skipped out on cheer practice that day to comfort Tyler and to get to know him better, much to the dismay of Chloe and everyone else on the team. Chloe let it slide, though. The team would be lost without you.

No one you had ever met before came close to being as special as your new friend. You had never met someone so committed to their hobby before, his of which is photography. Many girls on your squad, you know, do not truly have a passion for the sport, as you do. Most are just on it because they are convinced the only way they can get a cute jock boyfriend is by being on the cheerleading team. The only girl on your team who was successful in getting a boyfriend from the baseball team so far was your friend, Amy, who truly is a decent person. She has been dating a decent jock, Scott Reed, for a solid three months now. Most of the other jocks are looking for a weekend screw and not a steady relationship. You had no intention of being involved with a jock whatsoever. In fact, you only have eyes for the one and only Tyler Down, who you were sure would treat you as if you're the only girl in the world, which is exactly how you want and deserve to be treated.

Suddenly, you see Tyler walking up the field. Chloe rolls her eyes and mutters, "Here comes the perv." You fight with everything in you to hold back from saying, "He isn't as much of a perv as your man, Chloe."

Tyler makes eye contact with you and motions for you to come over. You smile in response and move your foot forward, ready to walk over to your friend when an invasive arm suddenly grabs your own. "Uh-uh, (y/n), Chloe shouts. "I told you if you talk to that perv during practice again, I was cutting you from the team!" She has called your friend a perv for the final time. You have had it. You look Chloe in the eyes and defiantly snatch your arm from her grip. "Fuck you, Chloe!" You shout. You sound powerful but inside, your heart is pounding with fear. You had never stood up to anyone on the squad before, let alone Chloe.

Chloe's mouth drops wide open as you run over to Tyler. You are filled with such anger, you decide to do something crazy. Right in front of Chloe, all the girls on the squad and the jocks on the other side of the field, you grab Tyler and pull him into a passionate kiss.

Tyler's eyes open so wide as you kiss him you think for a second his eye lids may fall out. You feel bad all of a sudden, thinking you have embarrassed your close friend, so you begin to pull away, but when you do, Tyler quickly responds by pulling you back closer towards him and kissing you even harder than you had kissed him.

With the look of pure bliss in your eyes, you throw your middle finger up at Chloe and shout, "I quit!"

~ Later That Weekend ~

You are over at Tyler's house, watching a Disney movie with him while cuddling under a thick blanket on the couch when your phone suddenly buzzes. Thinking it is your mom wondering where you are, you turn your screen on and quickly notice you had received a text from Chloe.

It read: "Thanks a lot, (y/n). We lost the tournament because of you."

Pump Up the Jam Ch 3, Don’t You Forget About Me

A/N: I've always loved music, and there have been some great fics centered around music. Let me tell you about a couple. The first is A Matter of Trust by MySongStory. It's a series of one-shots, and it's really good. (Full disclosure I've been helping the author a tiny bit with the newest chapter) The second, and one of my all time favorites is Permutations by uplink2. Chuck is a DJ at Stanford and Sarah is a student. It is so good. Okay, on to my fic, and I mean you guys are just seem to be enjoying this one… Dillwg, this Bryce is for you. I give you Pump Up the Jam Ch 3, Don't You Forget About Me.

Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck, and we all know deep down Sarah will never forget about Chuck. (yes, persnickety mood today)

Chuck stood there looking at his old friend, nay, nemesis. His mind began to process what he was seeing, and it wasn't good. Bryce wasn't the physical specimen he used to be. Oh, sure, he still had his good looks, but something terrible had happened to him. He still had his good hair, and the eye patch did something in a Nick Fury kinda way. But something awful happened to the right side of his body.

"Actually scratch that drink, why don't we go to my place and I get you one, because you may need it."

Chuck studied Bryce. "How do I know you won't get me on some deserted highway and kick me out of the car?"

"Good one, Chuck." Bryce took a look down at himself and then back at Chuck. There was a self-depreciating smile on his face. "If you haven't noticed, I'm pretty sure you can kick my ass right now."

"What happened to you?"

"Long story, and part of why I'm here, hat in hand, needing your help. Chuck, you're my only hope."

Chuck stared at Bryce. "Dude, you are no Leia."

"Really, even if I did the buns in my hair?" Bryce glanced at his right hand, there was scaring there as well. "Yeah, I'd look like shit in a bikini."

Chuck couldn't help but laugh. "You promise this is legit?"

"Chuck, it's so legit. And, not only that, I made a mistake back then, back at Stanford. It was a terrible mistake, one that will haunt me until the day I die, but let me tell you why I did it before you kick my ass." Chuck nodded and started toward the door. "Wait." Chuck turned toward him. "Dude, I'm sorry. I am so sorry. I screwed up your life then, and I'm so glad you overcame it."

"Apology accepted." Bryce stared at Chuck. Chuck shrugged. "You're right, I overcame it, you seem sincere and you say you're going to tell me everything, what else can I do?" Bryce opened his arms for a hug. "You're pushing it." Bryce laughed.

"I know you, Chuck, your saying you forgive me because you feel bad." Chuck started to say something but Bryce held up his hand. "Dude, I know you. Now, let me show you the rest of what's going on, you may want to retract the apology by the time I'm done." Chuck was confused but followed Bryce. The two walked out to his SUV. They climbed in and took off. Chuck noticed it was modified. Bryce didn't use the gas or break on the floor, everything was by hand. There were special modified leavers for it. He did see that the pedals were still in the vehicle. "It's so anyone can drive it." Chuck looked up at him. "Come on, the first time anyone sees it they have questions, and we both know you have all sorts of questions about everything."

"Are you in pain?"

Bryce looked over at him. "You're the second person who's ever asked me that." He shook his head. "No, I'm not. Thank you."

"Who was the first?"

Bryce grinned. "My ex-girlfriend."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"Don't be, I ended it." Bryce shook his head. "She wasn't the one for me, and she was only with me at the end because…I need to explain a lot." Chuck nodded. Bryce pressed some buttons. "We can't be over heard now." Chuck gave him a look and Bryce grinned. "So, after 9/11 all the government clandestine agencies came together to try and stop anything like that from ever happening again. It was called, Project OMAHA. To save a lot of time, all the data was to "Intersect" into one place, and a program would be there, the Intersect, to combine it and look for possibilities."

Chuck gave a low whistle. "That's got to be some impressive computing power."

"It doesn't exist in the man made world," Bryce replied, smirking.

Chuck thought for a minute and then turned toward Bryce, his mouth opened. "That's straight out of science fiction." Bryce shrugged. "You can't be serious. Bryce, you can't use a brain as an operating system." Bryce shrugged again, and Chuck thought for a minute. "What does that have to do with you?"

"Chuck, I'm a Special Agent for the CIA and I have my own team." Chuck's mouth dropped again. "You were to be a possible recipient for that computer program."

Chuck studied Bryce and then his mind leapt to a conclusion. "Wait…Professor Flemming's class?"

"That's why they wanted you," Bryce replied, with a sad grin. "Your mind plus your ability to see subliminal images…they were gonna try and make you CIA." Bryce took a deep breath. "Dude, I was scared it would change who you were, change who you are, and I couldn't let them do that to you, but I did it wrong, and I know I did. I've hated myself ever since."

Chuck started to move his hand but stopped. "I was gonna pat your right shoulder or something but I didn't want to hurt you, you know if…you know what, I'm gonna shut up now." Chuck studied him for a minute. "Figures, you always were the James Bond type."

Bryce laughed. They pulled in front of the shut down Weinerlicious in the Buy More Plaza. "Miss it?"

"Like a wart," Chuck quipped. "So, what are we doing here?"

Bryce pointed toward the Orange Orange. "That's a store front for our base. Come on. I've got stuff to show you, and more to explain." They got out of the SUV and headed into the store. Bryce walked to the back, typed something into the keypad and then put his palm down to have it scanned. "You help us, you can have your palm print in here too."

Chuck was grinning hard. "Really?"

Bryce laughed. "God, I've missed you, Chuck. This job sucks the life out of me some days, but having you here just for a minute reminds me of why I do it." They went downstairs and lights started coming on. Chuck was staring at everything. "Hey, tour later, we only have so much time." Chuck nodded. Bryce took a deep breath. "I wouldn't come to you now, but there are two ways this is going to happen, with or without you. I can't do to you what happened at Stanford again, so I'm gonna tell you everything, but this is happening, and I know you, you can help us."

"What can I do, Bryce, you already pretty much said I'd be a lousy spy."

"No, Chuck, you'd be a great spy. It wouldn't be by the book, but you'd get it done. What I was worried about is it would take something away from you, but I'm here to protect you, and I have friends." Bryce hit a button and some pictures went on the screen. "Now, let me know when your lost, because this is a lot." Chuck nodded.

Bryce clicked the button. "This is Langston Graham, director of the CIA. He's the one that wanted you in the CIA. I didn't trust him and the more I found on him the more I began to question what he was doing." Bryce hit another slide. "Answer, he was about to sell the Intersect to Alexi Volkoff, International Arms Dealer. I followed the money, and all the clues, and it led me to find out some very suspicious stuff about the Director. He recruited people into the CIA illegally, a fact I found out from my….one of my friends."

"Your ex?" Chuck asked softly. Bryce shook his head, grinning. "I'm sorry, I did it again."

"Nope," Bryce said looking up and smiling at his friend. "You are Chuck, and you sense these kinds of things. Yeah, she's my ex. She wasn't in love with me. We were…convenient, and she deserved better, you know. Anyway, she is a part of my team, known as the CAT Squad. The Clandestine Attack Team."

"Wait, what, that's stupid!"

Bryce grinned at him. "Someone in DC thought the CAT name would be cute. Anyway, I went after the Intersect to make sure Graham couldn't get it, but he was already there. We were betrayed by one of the team members. A fight began, and I destroyed it. Graham died in the process, the Intersect is gone, and I'm…" he gestured to his body with his left hand. "I was pretty messed up for a while, but while I was laying in that hospital bed, it became evident that Alexi Volkoff thought I had the Intersect. I still had use to the CIA and the new Director promoted me to Special Agent. I can't go in the field but I lead the remaining CAT Squad."

"What about your ex?"

Bryce grinned. "She's a great person Chuck, but it isn't there. There's no love. We're attracted to each other, we understand this life, but she wants so much more, and I'm not the one to help her get there. After the accident, there was no way she'd break up with me. So, I did with her. It's funny, her teammates keep saying its a bad breakup because she's talking more and more about a life after the CIA. They think it's because of the breakup and she wants off the team, it's because she wants a real life. She's great at this, but…."

Chuck gently laid his hand on his buddy's left shoulder. "So, are you open to a bro hug?" Bryce caught him in the best bear hug he could give him, but it was obvious strength was lacking on one side. Bryce clapped him on the back when they released. "Okay, so what's all this have to do with me?"

Bryce turned and flicked the monitor. Chuck stared at it. "Bryce, why do you have a picture of Hartley Winterbottom on the screen." Bryce didn't say anything. "Bryce, why is the owner of the club I manage on your screen?" Bryce didn't say anything. "Bryce," Chuck said softly. "That is Hartley, right?"

"Chuck, meet Alexi Volkoff."

Chuck stared at the screen and then back to Bryce and then back to the screen.

"Shit."

Bryce had grabbed Chuck a water and they were sitting at the conference table. Chuck was positive by this point it was an elaborate hoax Bryce had pulled off.

"Don't believe me, do you?" Bryce asked. Chuck shook his head.

"I've known Hartley for years, he's no weapons dealer." Bryce gave a shrug. "So what did you mean we're doing this one way or another earlier?"

Bryce nodded. "You aren't going to like this."

"As compared to the rest of this?"

"Point." Bryce pushed a file towards Chuck. Chuck opened the file.

"These women were in the club last night."

"That's right, Chuck, meet Carina Miller, DEA, Zondra Rizzo, CIA, and Sarah Walker, CIA." Bryce quit talking because Chuck was staring at Sarah's picture. "She's amazing," he said softly.

Chuck jerked his head up. "Uh, yeah…I mean, I met them last night and uh…"

"Zondra and Carina both said you were smitten with Sarah."

"Bryce…"

Bryce held up his hand. "That's my ex." Chuck paled. "Dude, trust me, it's fine. I get it, she's amazing."

"I wouldn't.."

"Chuck, I have no say in it, but she's a CIA agent."

Chuck thought for a second. "I thought you said she wanted out."

Bryce picked up his bottle to take a drink, smirking. "She does, but she wants to take down Volkoff first. Besides, why do you care…aren't you seeing someone?"

Chuck's eyebrows went up. "Who?"

"Kayla."

Chuck had taken a drink of water just as Bryce answered and nearly spit it out. "Oh, that's funny. She's the biggest screw up I've ever met, and that's saying something considering I worked at the Buy More."

Bryce sat up, interested. "Okay, I'm confused, because Agent Walker overheard you saying, 'My ass is yours."

Chuck grinned. "Kayla gets a finders fee off of me. She gets 5% of the net profits off of the club."

Bryce grinned. "Huh, how interesting. You do know she's trouble, right?"

Chuck nodded and leaned forward. "Why was Agent Walker overhearing what I was saying?" Bryce grinned, leaned back and took a drink of his water.

"She was supposed to approach you, but this is better. I need the CAT Squad in the club, as employees."

Chuck thought. "I can find jobs for two, but the third…I really don't know."

"I have an idea," Bryce said with a grin Chuck recognized. This was gonna be bad. "So to be clear you're not seeing anyone?" Chuck shook his head no. "I think Agent Walker should be your cover girlfriend."

Chuck was positive he was being punked.

Spooksville #12: The Hidden Beast

Bryce Poole has finally come to the Spook Squad for help. His cousin Leah has come into a treasure map and needs some help understanding it, and if Bryce can't do it he knows someone who can. The gang still doesn't quite trust him, but they soften their stance when Leah offers them half of what they find. But ... maybe they should have stuck with their instincts, they realize, when Leah takes off with the treasure and two of the kids get stuck in a cave with an angry dragon.

I know, I know. You're wondering the same thing I was: do these assholes ever have to go to school? As it turns out, this has been one summer so far, with an adventure every week on average. With only a couple of days until school starts, the gang is itching for something else to do, and Bryce knows it. He catches them at the donut shop and entices them with the promise of wealth beyond imagining. His cousin Leah is just outside with a map that could lead them to treasure, but the map and its instructions are hidden behind a riddle that neither she nor Bryce has been able to solve.

Sally has done a 180 on Bryce Poole since he almost got her killed in the ancient past, and so she doesn't want anything to do with it. Adam and Watch are mostly of the same mind, but all it takes is the offer to split the riches for them to agree that it couldn't hurt to look. So Leah comes in, and of course she's a beautiful teenager who makes Cindy jealous even though she's five years older. She shows them the map and the riddle, which takes Watch about five minutes to figure out: they have to go to this set of unusually sharp hills deep in the mountains and wait for Venus at its apogee to cast a shadow on the tallest and narrowest peak that will reveal a door, where there are speaking crystals guarded by an ancient pet, whatever that means. Leah is thankful but not excited, somehow, and they determine to set out that day, as tomorrow morning Venus will be at its highest and brightest, with no moon.

So Leah gets ahold of a truck and the kids ride out as far as they can before they have to start hiking. (There is a token mention of getting parental permission to camp that night, in case you were worried.) Watch knows it's solidly six hours to the mountain, and they make it four before dark, when they have to make camp at a pond fed by a spring that literally sprays out of the cliff wall. This far from civilization, though, they'll have to consider wild animals, especially in Spooksville. No problem, Watch says: the fire should keep them away, and he'll set an alarm so he can get up and feed it. Leah wants to know what time Watch will be getting up, just out of curiosity.

Or so she says. Next thing Adam knows, Watch is shaking him awake. Leah is gone, no doubt ahead on the path so she can stiff the kids and abandon them in the mountains. Bryce is still there, but that proves nothing because they could have coordinated it ahead of time. They decide to try and catch her, and they've been around the girls long enough that they know not to leave them behind like chauvinist dickholes. Bryce comes, too, and they eventually make it to the mountain, where there's a ledge near the top fronted by a polished statue that has a small hole in it, blocked by another rock. When they remove the rock, Venus shines through the hole and onto the cliff wall behind it — and the perfect circle cast by the light of the planet reveals a door that swings open into the mountain.

This peak being so tall and narrow, of course all they see inside is a staircase. They make their way to the bottom, where there's a pool of water and a flicker of light in the distance. They follow it, but pretty quickly they hear a rumbling, rasping sound. Kind of like some enormous creature breathing. Fortunately, there's enough room to quietly edge around it, and right behind it is the promised treasure room, full of gold coins and gemstones and jewels. But in the middle of it all are four silver stands, two of which are topped with gigantic quartz crystals. These must be the stones alluded to in the riddle, and obviously Leah has already been here and taken two of them. Sally goes to pick up another — and holy crap the giant monster in the other room starts waking up. She puts it back, and the thing falls asleep, and they get past again and run for it.

Only not fast enough. The sun is starting to rise outside, and the door is closing. Bryce and Sally get there first, and slow it down enough for Adam to squeeze out, but Watch and Cindy are too slow. The door actually catches Adam's jacket before it turns back into solid rock, leaving him no choice but to shrug out of it. So now what? Venus isn't up again until tomorrow morning, and it might not even work again. All they can do is try to chase Leah down so they're not trapped in the mountains, and try to figure out where another entrance to the cave might be so they can go back for their friends.

Cindy and Watch have no choice, meanwhile, but to go back down the stairs and get a drink from the pool. While they're down there, they hear the thing wake up and go into its treasure room — and roar with rage. As they're scrambling to get away from it, it hears them, but they manage to get far enough up the tunnel to be safe from its fire breath. It's then that Watch recognizes what the beast is, and figures it's smart enough that he can try to reason with it. He yells down that they don't have the crystals, and the dragon responds by trying to convince them to come talk to it so she (yeah, they determine the dragon is a she) can get her property back. But Watch knows she's just trying to get a meal, and holds Cindy back from the dragon's hypnotic effects. This only makes her mad, though, and she squeezes enough info out of them to know that some girl named Leah is out there with her crystals and there's a town called Spooksville that she can lay waste to until she gets them back.

She leaves the cave (not the way the two kids trapped inside are hiding; it's too small for a dragon) and chases down Adam, Sally, and Bryce, who have had no luck finding Leah. She corners them in another cave and tries to get more info from them, and when all three of the kids are stronger-willed than Cindy she attempts to turn the cave into an oven. Fortunately, Sally has a heat-repellent tent in her bag, which saves the kids from slow-roasting. The dragon takes off, and they have to think of some way to slow her down. What if they could raft down a river and get to Spooksville before her, to warn the people? As it happens, Bryce has a raft stashed up here in the mountains, along with an emergency cell phone that he can use to warn Leah. But she doesn't want to hear it, and hangs up on her cousin.

Meanwhile, Watch and Cindy aren't getting any safer staying in the cave. They decide to explore the opposite direction and find OH HOLY GOD ANOTHER DRAGON. But this one is a kid, and interested in getting to know humans rather than eating them. He tells them that his mom uses the crystals to talk to dragons on other planets, which makes them realize they can try to call Leah on them. Of course, she hangs up the crystal on them too, however one does that, so the only recourse is to ask Little Dragon to fly them out of the cave and to go find her before his mom does. There's just one problem: Little Dragon is afraid of heights.

Rafting down the river, Sally has a brainstorm: there's a rocky outcropping near the power plant outside town that, if painted gold, might get a dragon's attention. While she was investigating, they could shoot down the power lines and stun her for a little while, maybe even long enough to get Leah to give back the crystals. Bryce apparently has gold paint stashed nearby, as well as a hunting rifle, and they set up their trap. Sure enough, Mama Dragon comes swooping down and they manage to knock her out. But OH FUCK HERE COMES ANOTHER DRAGON.

And this is the first time I'm really bugged by Pike's storytelling in the Spooksville series. Because Little Dragon has not only Watch and Cindy, but also Leah on his back. He has persuaded Leah to return the speaking crystals, and given her a handful of diamonds in thanks. But Pike just TELLS us this. As every storyteller has heard at some point in their craft, showing an audience what happened is much more effective than telling them. We're just expected to believe that a sociopath who would abandon five twelve-year-olds (one of them RELATED TO HER) in the mountains is happy to return this priceless treasure to an animal. PLUS: what happened to the fact that Little Dragon was afraid to fly? It's never mentioned again. Apparently he was totally cool with this crippling, paralyzing fear to help some humans he literally just met. My suspicion is that Pike got to this point and realized he was running up against a page limit for the series and had to cut a whole bunch. But it makes the story fall flat at the end. Like: did the kids actually HAVE to electrocute a dragon if Little Ex Machina was gonna show up and make her calm immediately? Get your ass to rewrites.

So that's The Hidden Beast, and with that we are halfway through Spooksville. There are a few untied ends that still have to be looped back, and maybe Pike is starting to do that. We still don't know very much about Watch, except that he's starting to be willing to open up to Cindy but he's not totally ready yet. But check out that next book title: I expect we're going to start school pretty soon, and school in Spooksville will be just as screwed up as the rest of the town.

Next Moves

Bryce sat behind his seat as one of his men read off a report. It had been a little while now, since the Prince escaped, and no one had heard from him since. In the meantime though, Bryce was continuing his plans to shift Galar to its new ruler - Lady Briar, no - Princess Briar. 

“The news of the ex-Prince’s heritage has almost reached every corner of Galar. There is not many places he could hide.“ The man read off, “Upon hearing the news, the Southern Nobles have thrown their support behind the Hobard Household. However, the North does not seem to share the sentiment. Rumors against the Hobard Household have already started to spread.“ 

“The Northern Nobles have all been stripped of their titles, land, and power, after the last rebellion, and are either living in hiding or have been executed.” Bryce injected, “The North has no power. Let them talk - go on.” 

The man hesitated for a moment, before he scanned his document. Bryce folded his hands on the desk. Years ago, during the last rebellion between the Solvieg Crown, and the Aldebrand Dukedom, the Aldebrand Dukedom fell, and all their land was seized by the crown, and redistributed to supporters of the Solvieg Family. That didn’t change the fact though, that many of the people in the North were still followers of Zacian. When they found out that there was a member of the Aldebrand Family still alive, and that he had been the crown Prince... well, it was a given that they would throw their support behind the Prince. 

“Send word in the North that the Prince was caught and executed.” It was important that he had them believe the Aldebrand Heir was dead so they had nothing to cling too.  

 “Um, yes sir.“  The man nodded, and then continued, “The Southern Nobles have also pledged their support behind Lady Briar-“ “Princess Briar.“ Bryce injected.  “P-Princess Briar.“ The man corrected himself.

Princess Briar’s claim to the throne was a distant one. her father was a cousin of Ulric... but Solvieg blood still ran through her veins, and he intended to use that to keep the Noble’s support. But there was still obstacles. Princess Briar had spent her whole life on a homestead in the backwaters of Galar. She knew little of how to socialize with the upper class, and had much to learn on high society life. However, she was young and naïve. She was both excited and afraid right now, and currently clung to Bryce for everything - which he was not going to complain about. It was definitely something he could use. The new heir would be easy to manipulate.

“However...“ The man’s nervous voice cut Bryce out of his thoughts and back to the moment. The man continued without looking up from his document, “On the subject of Princesses... people have been wondering what to do about Princess Freya?“ “The Ex-Prince’s fiancé?“ Bryce muttered. He stroked his beard for a second, “She’s a liability....“

He stood up and turned around to look out the window behind him that overlooked the front courtyard of the castle, “While it would be beneficial for us to keep Kalos’s support - right now more than ever... she may still be allied with the Prince.” He stroked his beard. Freya had been locked in her quarters since the Prince’s escape. But, the moment word reached Kalos about what happened here, they were bound to send word for her... 

Kalos was a large Kingdom, and was not apart of the Empire. There was nothing stopping Kalos from striking if anything happened to the Princess while she was in Galar’s care. He had made sure that to lie to her as well about the Prince. It would be beneficial to them if she thought her fiancé was dead. 

Bryce dropped his hand from his face, and folded both hands behind his back, “We shall remain on the defensive side. Send word to Kalos that the Prince was sentenced to death for Regicide, and that out of concern for the Princess’s safety, we shall return her to Kalos - make sure to include in the letter that we are apologetic for this outcome, and mean no disrespect to the Kingdom Of Kalos, and that we hope to continue our Kingdom’s ‘friendship’ once the situation is dealt with.” 

The man nodded, “Yes sir!” Without turning around, Bryce added, “Anything else to report?” “Um, yes! Sir, we have received word that after sending several messengers and receiving no response, that Princess Nikida Solvieg will be returning to Galar asap...“

Bryce tensed. Of course The Princess had heard no word. He had the messengers killed before they could report back to the Princess. He knew word from the Empress would come eventually... but so soon? Last he had heard was that the Empress was ‘missing’. She had left on an errand and had yet to return. Surely he figured there was more time? He never imagined the Princess would come herself. He was hoping to have everything taken care of before Empire intervened.

There was only one thing to do... 

“Take a small squad into the Weald.“ After a brief hesitation, Bryce ordered, “...Do whatever it takes to stop the Princess and any escorts she has with her.“ He turned around to look at the man with a serious expression, “You are to kill any Knights or Escorts she has with her, and capture her, and do it in a way that frames either bandits or Rovers that could be hiding there.“ “What if she resists capture?“ The man hesitantly asked. 

Bryce turned back around and looked out the window, “We can’t take any risks. Do whatever it takes. Do not allow her to escape.” He paused for a second, and bit his bottom lip, before adding, “Anything else? Any word about the Prince’s whereabouts?” “No sir.“ The other replied.  “Then you are dismissed. Leave.“ He said sternly, “Time is of the essence after all.“
