She was bouncing up and down.

Like, literally bouncing. The way she did when there was a long line at her favorite coffee shop, but it was cold and the leaves were still varying shades of orange and she just really wanted that latte. Or when she couldn't find the book that she wanted but she knew they were running out of time before they had to go and get the movie they had tickets for but also talking to one of the workers was just so awkward.

Basically, Annette wanted something but wasn't sure the best way to approach getting it.

Felix watched her from the corner of her eye, smiling to himself as she bounced in the kitchen, waiting for their tea to steep. He could tell by the pout on her lips that she probably wanted some kind of affection, but he didn't want to guess wrong and be faced with the wrath of a misunderstood Annette.

She sat down at the table heavily after disposing of her tea bag, looking at him as though he was a problem to be solved. He tried not to laugh under her scrutiny, attempting to turn his attention back to his paper (really, this was due tonight, he had to finish editing soon), but to no avail.

"Yes, Annie?" he said, hoping his voice sounded more even than he heard it.

"Can I kiss you?" Annette blurted, still pouting, still looking at him as though he needed solving.

"Took you so long to ask," Felix teased. "Of course you can."

Annette perked up at that, crossing the table and pulling him into a kiss. He smiled into it, gently reaching up and holding the back of her head, bringing her closer to him.

"You can always kiss me, love," he said once they separated, foreheads pressed together. "But maybe not right now. I do have a paper to finish writing."

"Felix!"

What period of history do you enjoy learning about?

I had an ancient egypt phase in elementary school, and I had a US history professor in college who taught in a different way where instead of teaching on a timeline she focused on one invention or phenomenon and the unit I remember most clearly was how the popularization of the teddy bear tied in with childhood being valued more and adolescence being defined as a distinct life phase separate from both childhood and adulthood, and it just made it all more interesting to learn. on my own, I find activist history in the 80s and 90s fascinating. women's rights, gay rights, the whole mess of the aids epidemic, it's super interesting to see how all of that led to where we are now.

What are your top three films? Books?

I like a movie but I'm not really a movie person as in I don't feel like they have enough influence on my life to have solid favorites. that being said, bollywood in the early 2000s was great I love the music and nostalgia. top 3 books: night circus by erin morgenstern, red white & royal blue by casey mcquiston, and (I haven't read this one in Years bc I don't own it) just one wish by janette rallison

How do you organize your music playlists?

by vibe mostly, I have some playlists that are for things I've written and some that are like Mars that are all songs I like with lyrics about mars
