Cont. Iger ask. I've waited for this movie since IM 2 came out when I was 10. It was a big deal for me that this movie made bank, like Black Panther. I'm disappointed that it won't and will go down as the lowest box office for MCU. Can't even use COVID as an excuse because of F9. Ik it shouldn't be about money but it would've proved even more that female-led movies are successes. I'm glad that when I left the screening, there were 100s of schools kids that had bunked, mainly boys, and loved it!

I think part 1 of your ask was eaten by Tumblr because I can’t find it. But I will say that, as you mentioned, Disney and other studios will use the low box office return on this as an excuse as to why female led action movies don’t work when I don’t think that’s the truth or fair at all. Disney has to take some responsibility for waiting so long to even MAKE this movie to begin with. To me, the perfect timing would have been right after Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The buzz for the Black Widow character was at an all time high at that point. The way the entire situation has been handled is disappointing overall. I personally was glad to have the option to watch at home with this Delta variant of COVID, but they should have made sure it could release world wide on the same day before pirated versions ended up in other countries that make up a large part of the box office. That’s unfair to Scarlett. It also looks like the futureMCU movies will receive a theatrical release only which I also find unfair to her. COVID is still going to be running rampant, if not worse, when Shang-Chi releases next month but it’s getting a theatrical release only 🦎
