What a February

Well...what a great couple of days to be stuck in the office, amiright? (I work mostly from home but on occasion I have to go into the office and of course some nice little royal bombs get dropped when I can't be here.)

I've gotten some anons about what's happened but I won't be posting them (sorry, everyone!). Because so much has happened, I think it would just be confusing to rehash some of it, and other asks were also sent to Empress and Sassy (nothing wrong with that! They were doing answers in real-time and they've said pretty much the same things I'd have said).

So to recap recent events:

2/5/24: Buckingham Palace announced King Charles has cancer. Fortuntely it was caught early, Charles is doing/feeling well, he's beginning treatment immediately.

2/6/24: Harry catches a last-minute flight to London. Clarence House puts out a story "business as usual, nothing to worry about, King can still work and he is still working" (i.e., Harry go home).

2/7/24: Harry arrives in London. He goes directly to Charles, who is delaying travel to Sandringham to see him. Harry's PR says they met for an hour, Meghan wanted to say hello/wish him well via Facetime but Charles declined, and Harry went to BP for the evening. The Daily Mail tracked the comings and goings from Clarence House and realized the meeting lasted less than 15 minutes, from the time of Harry's convoy entering the grounds to Charles's helicopter leaving. It is further revealed that Harry spent the night in a hotel, William didn't return Harry's calls, Harry didn't want Camilla involved in the meeting, and none of Harry's "friends" offered to host him for the night. Also, William makes his first public engagements since mid-January when Kate's treatment began; Tom Cruise is there.

2/8/24: Harry flies home. He's papped at Heathrow entering the VVIP suite (as one does). Wait, Harry's not at home! He's in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl (or the Superb Owl) and makes a surprise appearance to present the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award. Sussex PR immediately begins telling everyone that Harry and Meghan will be attending the Super Bowl.

2/9/24: Lambrook School begins half-term break and the Wales family travels to Anmer Hall/Sandringham estate. Harry's appearance in Vegas gets picked up by the media.

2/10/24: Meghan's PR starts walking back their own rumors that they'll be in Vegas for the Super Bowl, citing the need to prepare for their Canada IG trip.

2/11/24: Super Bowl Sunday. No Harry and Meghan to be seen.

2/12/24: Meghan's PR reveals she spent the weekend cooking with Afghan immigrants in an Archewell initiative.

2/13/24: Harry and Meghan launch their newest rebranding effort with their new Sussex website with Meghan's coat of arms (rather than their joint coat of arms). Meghan announces a new podcast deal with someone no one has really heard of.

2/14/24: Harry and Meghan arrive in Vancouver for the "one year to 2025 Invictus Games." Meghan coordinates a photoshoot with outdoor activities; merches two outfits; and virtue-signals their "we're still royal" demands with Kate cosplay, a coat called Kensington, and a 'you can call us Sir/Ma'am' exchange caught on camera. In the evening they're papped going to a super-romantic Valentine's Day dinner date.

2/15/24: Day 2 of the Vancouver IG kickoff visit. They visit wheelchair basketball. Meghan gives her signature full-body contact-hugs. Sussex PR announce that the family has changed their surname to Sussex (from Mountbatten-Windsor) and this is the first time all family members have the same surname. Meghan also claps back at mounting criticism by saying "We will not be broken."

2/16/24: Day 3 of the Vancouver IG kickoff visit. Harry gives an interview to GMA's Will Reeve (son of the late Superman actor Christopher Reeve and his wife, Dana) in which he blabs about Charles's cancer and reiterates how much he loves his family, hinting that he's available to come back. Sussex PR also drops an article in the afternoon (with BP collaboration) announcing Harry and Meghan's plan to return with half in/half out; this is very clearly one of Charles's trial balloons from Clarence House.

(Today) 2/17/24: Backlash to the trial balloon is swift, so Clarence House backtracks immediately and does damage control. Kensington Palace announces that William will attend the 2024 BAFTAs tomorrow. Half-term break for Lambrook School ends on February 19th so the Waleses are traveling back to London/Windsor this weekend. And Hollywood has fought back by leaking about their Netflix deal, which contradicts a ton of Meghan's PR from 2020/2021.

Since some of you have asked for my thoughts, here you go. I am warning you now it's probably going to be my usual essay.

On the new website:

The new Sussex website is a problem. It conveys a legitimacy to the public that Harry and Meghan do not have, which The Queen and Edward Young made very sure was publicly known back in 2020. In particular, it's the use of Meghan's coat of arms, which signals palace support or endorsement. IMO, Buckingham needs to force them to take the coat of arms down.

I suspect they are using Meghan's coat of arms because a) Meghan believes it was personally awarded to her and is hers to use as she wants, whereas Harry's coat of arms probably comes with strings from the BRF and b) it's CYA if ever there's a divorce - if you look at it from a business standpoint, this is nothing more than Meghan branding the company with her name so she can prove ownership when they're splitting assets in a divorce, increasing her chances of getting the "company."

What about Archewell?

They're probably phasing out Archewell. It doesn't have the same visual connection to Harry and Meghan that Sussex does. I think they struggled so much with Archewell and were never able to get it off the ground in terms of a brand or an identity, in part due to the COVID-era launch. Sussex is a much stronger association for them and connects them more tightly to the royal identity. Archewell will probably be either their nonprofit arm or their content creator arm but it won't be as important going forward as it's been in the past.

Frankly, I would be surprised if Archewell v Sussex branding didn't come up in the brand analysis that WME did when Meghan first signed with them. We know they did a brand analysis because there was a ton of PR in August 2023 about Harry and Meghan becoming separate brands, which didn't work at all and they were back together as a "Sussex" brand in September 2023 with Dusseldorf Invictus Games. Seeing the success of "Team Sussex" in Dusseldorf definitely informed the website and the rebranding attempt.

What about the timing of all this?

They're taking advantage of the quietness from the royal family. They do this every year like clockwork when 1) the BRF is on summer holidays (July through early September) and 2) the BRF is on winter holidays (late December through early February). What is unusual about this timing is that it's taking place in mid-February and possibly well into March, which is a clear signal that it's the Sussexes taking advantage of Kate's absence to draw attention to themselves because Kate isn't there to steal their headlines.

And that it was a whole week of Sussex PR is not unusual either. It's their usual pattern when they have something big they want to promote and dominate the news with. It's cyclical at this point: first is a reminder of their royal status (Harry flying to Charles's bedside), then it's a reminder of their celebrity status (the Super Bowl appearance), then it's a big announcement (Sussex website), culminating in a set of public engagements/appearances (Invictus Games) with media attention. And to keep the attention coming, they drop breadcrumbs about the royal family to look like they're still "in," which buys them a few extra days of coverage because Charles falls for the bait every time.

The more interesting bit of timing in all of this is the Netflix article. Netflix wouldn't randomly give comments like this, so something must have happened behind the scenes for them to be pushed to this particular breaking point. I feel like perhaps the Sussexes may be trying to renegotiate their deals - maybe they asked for more money or maybe Meghan is trying to get more out of this 'Meet Me at the Lake' production than was agreed - and this is Netflix making it clear that it's over and done. I also have a niggling feeling that it might be connected to the upcoming film awards (BAFTA Film Awards tomorrow, Oscars on March 10th) - maybe they're trying to score tickets to parties using Netflix's name?

Are they really going to come back? Will Charles let them work again?

Analytically, the evidence points to 'no.' The trial balloon failed quickly faster than any other I've seen recently, which is and isn't surprising. It's surprising how quickly Charles backtracked since it had his implicit endorsement. It's not surprising that Charles pulled it down - he's as thin-skinned as Harry and Meghan both are when it comes to criticism.

But it's also more than just the trial balloon. It's everything else.

Charles wants them back on the family side. That's always been pretty clear. I think he waffles on having them back on the "work" side: on the one hand, the BRF needs the help since 10 of The Queen's 14 working royals are elderly (all 5 Kents, the 2 Gloucesters, Charles and Camilla, and Anne) and 2 of the remaining 4 are dealing with a signficant health issue and are temporarily out of commission - in the business sense, this is unsustainable and untenable succession planning. But on the other hand, no one wants Harry and Meghan back, for a litany of reasons including how much shit they've talked about the family (collectively and individually), the petty PR games they play for attention, and the Sussexes' general toxicity. And by 'no one,' I mean family members, courtiers/staff, others in the aristocracy (not getting invites to the Grosvenor wedding is a huge reflection of what "their kind" thinks of teh Sussexes), and the at-large general public.

Charles probably has entertained the idea of half in/half out now that he's in charge and the Sussexes are now lovebombing him (vs in 2020 when they were lovebombing The Queen) but his biggest opposition is public support - it took Charles 30 years and 4 significant deaths (Diana, Queen Mother, Philip, and her own forthcoming death) to get The Queen's support for Camilla to become 'Queen Camilla and, in turn, the public's support or the public's indifference.

Charles doesn't have that kind of time to get the institutional and public support to bring Harry back. He's got 10 years at best, which is now handicapped by a cancer diagnosis.

Beyond that, he doesn't even have Harry and Meghan's cooperation the same way he had Camilla's cooperation. Camilla cooperated with a 10-year wait to be liked well enough that no one would object to her marrying Charles. Camilla then cooperated with a further 17-year wait to be liked well enough that the institution would support her becoming Queen.

Can Harry and Meghan wait that long? No. They can't. They couldn't wait an extra year to get engaged. They couldn't wait to have their first child. They couldn't wait out the criticism from Fall 2018. They couldn't wait out the criticism from Summer 2019. Harry couldn't wait for the phone-hacking settlement. When they want something, they want it now. They buy completed projects and slap their branding on it vs. developing their own programs.

Can Harry and Meghan cooperate with anyone? No. They can't. They couldn't cooperate with William and Kate on the Royal Foundation. They couldn't cooperate with the courtiers for Archie's birth. They couldn't cooperate with the family on Megxit. They couldn't cooperate with the rota for tour coverage. They need to be totally and fully in control of absolutely everything. Their idea of cooperation is 'I tell you what to do, you do it.'

And because they're too impatient and because they refuse to cooperate, there's no way they'll support a 10-years long PR drive for Charles to rehabilitate their public image and get William's support. Heck, they can't even last a 3-month media rebrand. Charles knows that, which I suspect is why he may be trying to fast-track it but 1) when has fast-tracking something ever gone well for the BRF and 2) William is the linchpin holding it all together. Charles can't do anything without William's support. Yes, William is that powerful now - the public does pay attention to what he and Kate signal and the public would support them more than they would support Charles. Charles can't risk losing William's favor any more than he already has.

The third reason stopping Charles from taking Harry and Meghan back as working royals is Camilla and that Harry doesn't want her involved. He admitted it last week when he didn't contradict her leak about it. IMO, this reveals Harry's hand: he wants to position himself (or Meghan and himself) as Camilla's alternate, the way Charles often stood in as Philip's alternate. They want Camilla to retire so they can take her place in prestige, wealth, and attention. It's the only way they can "be better" than William and Kate, and they probably think it's how they can get "more" in the inheritance than William. Unfortunately for them, Camilla is Charles's line in the sand so no way will Charles let that happen after he spent 30 years getting Camilla to be able to sit next to him, and on top of all that, Camilla herself didn't wait 30 years to be Queen just for a pair of narcisstic glassbowl shitheads to usurp her at the last second.

That's the "working royal" side of it.

When you look at the "family" side of it, we know that Charles is more accepting of allowing the Sussexes back as family members, albeit with two strict rules:

No Meghan

No royal work

We know these are Charles's rules because it's already been communicated to us, most especially in the events around the Queen's funeral and his own coronation.

We also know these are Charles's' terms because Harry is publicly fighting against them this week, which suggests that these may have been reiterated (or relitgated, perhaps) during the <15-minute visit on February 7th.

"We all finally have the same surname for the first time as a family" and "maybe I'll become an American' is Harry's way of telling Charles and the courtiers that all four of them are a package deal and they all move together (like Archie's salt and pepper shakers). Meaning that if Charles wants Harry back, Charles must also take Meghan, Archie, and Lili too.

The Vancouver trip being such a royal rip-off is Harry's way of demanding royal work. His position is that he and Meghan must have the exact same lifestyle now that they had back in 2018: a palace residence, glamorous patronages, military honors, gushy praising media coverage, carriage processions, and equal precedence to the entire Wales family.

All this to illustrate that the dividing line is over the work aspect.

On one side is everyone saying "no, they can't work, they're just family." On the other side is Harry and Meghan saying "we're not just family, we're also working royals." And Charles is there smack in the middle saying "don't make my last years miserable" begging someone to give in. It's clear that Charles hopes it will be the institution (i.e. William) that gives in so he can fast-track the rehabilitation.

So no, I don't think Charles and the Sussexes will succeed in being part-time working royals. I think we'll see a lot of negotiating in the coming weeks and months (like Sussex demands for Trooping) and it may get loud and it may look frighteningly real, but that's only because William and Kate are on leave from work and their absence lets Harry and Meghan play offense. Once the Waleses are working again, or a new picture of Kate is released (I'm still hedging my bets for something celebrating Mother's Day next month), the Sussexes go back to playing on defense, and playing poorly.

We only need to worry if William, Kate, and Camilla appear to be changing their minds. They represent "the institution" to Charles, as well as public support (William) and establishment media (Camilla). William continues to tell everyone he isn't speaking to Harry. Kate's body language at the Windsor Walkabout keeps resurfacing. Camilla has leaked that Harry doesn't want to see her when he visits Charles and that she doesn't support the Sussexes coming back. There's nothing to worry about for now.

keeping me housed update:

so, my eviction hearing is August 6th, 1PM. i have a GFM again because of the circumstances ("one last time," he says). i am begging for help keeping my home. i have a hearing with the human rights Tribunal June 27th as well and if that goes well, i could even have money to pay it off! but i don't want to wait for the end of June to come around and have nothing. i can't gamble. i need help now.

the Canada Disability Benefit isn't coming until 2025 and will only be an extra $200 (if approved, if that), and will not provide any financial relief. PWDs & low income individuals still need community help, still will be relying on mutual aid.

i am sorry i ask so often.

i don't want to lose my home and the safe place i have created for myself and my furbabs. just last night, this was the living room during a horrible migraine and it was such a cozy vibe and i felt so secure even through all the stress.

it has been a long ass road to getting the apartment to even a functional state. i moved in here in January 2017 after losing my old place to a scum Landlord who KNEW I didn't know my rights at the time and abused this. i am so grateful that, after all i have been through, i have a place i can call home.

i need to make it known that NO ONE owes me anything, absolutely no one. none of you are responsible for me, none of you own this burden. please only help if you can, don't put yourself out. if you see someone who needs food or med help, emergency Aid, help them first. I HAVE TIME. and i am so sorry i keep asking for your assistance.

Begin Again | part one

Summary: Secrets can't be held forever. Specifically, not the one you keep from him.

Part two

December 2025

"No, Pedro! No puedo calmarme, estas bromeando?" (No Pedro, I can't calm down, are you joking?) You were shouting at this point. "Estas bromeando?" You repeat.

"¡No! Joder, no estoy bromeando!" (No, Fuck, I'm not joking) his tone elevates as much as yours.

You cover your face with your hands, feeling the tears wetting them.

"Cuatro putos años, Pedro." (Four fucking years, Pedro.) You shout again. "No me vengas a decir estupideces, anoche me hablabas de casarnos y hoy te dio por olvidar todo eso?" (Don't fuck with me, yesterday we were talking about marriage and today you forgot about all of that?) You couldn't believe his words. "Me estas jodiendo, dime por favor que me estas jodiendo" (you're joking, please tell me you're joking).

He stayed silent, time passing as you only waited for him to start laughing and tell you he was pranking you.

"Amor," you took his face in your hands. "Por favor no hagas esto, tu y yo podemos con todo, lo hemos hecho siempre, Pedro, por favor" (Please don't do this, you and I will get over everything, we've done it before).

You were begging him in denial of the situation.

"Pepi, por favor."

His eyes were fixed on something. He was trying as hard as possible not to look at you. He knew if he did everything he just told you, it was going to be taken back.

He press his hands on your wrists and slowly took your hands away from his face.

"Lo siento," he whisper "lo siento pero no puedo." (I'm sorry I can't).

He let go of you, not looking once at your. Took his jacket and keys and walked to the front door. "Por favor, ve a Portofino, no lo dejes ir por mi, no valgo la pena. Haz tu vida y déjame atrás." (Please go to Portofino, don't let that go because of me, I'm not worthy. Live your own life and leave me behind).

You saw his car getting away from your house.

The tears never stopped. Your body was now on the floor, crying louder than before, the pain I your chest was growing stronger by the minute.

January 2026

"Bueno niña, todo listo y ordenado. Amo la vista por cierto." (Okay, girl, everything is done and ready. I love this view, by the way). Your brother Paulo says he's the one helping you with the moving.

You got an offer to be part of this big company in Portofino.

"Venga, cambia la cara, todo estará bien, me tienes a mi acá y Elena prometió venir a verte cada dos semanas, estas bien" (c'mon, don't act like that, everything will be fine, you have me here and Elena will visit you every two weeks). He pat you in the back, forcing you into a hug.

You accept the forced hug but only for a moment, after that you shove your brother away from you.

"Debería estar feliz." You say walking to the couch. "Pero no puedo estar feliz, Paulo. No sin él." (I should be happy, but I can't Pualo, not without him).

Your eyes water, you have everything you wanted, a big start, the job of your dreams, everything but him.

"No llores, por favor no de nuevo." Paulo runs to your side, hugging you while you cry. "Venga, vamos a dar una vuelta y tomar algunas fotos." (Don't cry, please not again. C'mon, let's go out and about and get you some good photos).

He dried your tears and pulled you out of the couch. Grabbing your purse on the way out to his car, you took out your phone and snapped a picture, sending it to Elena, your best friend.

Paulo took you to a rental of motorcycles, knowing you loved driving one around everytime you visited him.

You two spend the rest of the day laughing and having all the fun you could. You appreciate your brother help. He knew you needed to move on at your own time. A four year relationship was not a thing you left behind in a day.

"Para, deja te tomó una foto para tu insta" he indicates you how to pose for the picture, taking several. (Stop right there. Let me take a photo for your insta).

"Basta, ya son, suficiente," you laugh, getting off the motorcycle. "Igual solo subiré una." (Enough, they're enough, I'll only post one).

You both cheeked the pictures, and he airdrop them to you.

"Subí la foto y pone algo como "amando los nuevos comienzos", no crees?" (Post it and caption it with something like "I love new beginnings).

You laugh but did it.

February 2026

"Elena, apúrate por favor." You say as you touch up your makeup. (Elena, hurry up, please).

You were going to be her +1 at this event in London, Elena was became an influencer way back in the day when you were eighteen, she started posting for fun and suddenly it became a full time job.

A good one, she was always invited to fashion shows, she even did modeling campaigns for big brands. You were happy and thankful because you could borrow some trendi clothes.

"Relax, bebé" she says, coming out of the bathroom. "Tenemos aún como una hora para llegar, bájale" (we have an hour to get there, relax).

"Elena, ya viste la hora?" You say, looking at her with lifted eyebrows. (Did you see the time?).

She looks at her phone, eyes opening as you laugh.

"Okay, vamos c'mon, vamos todos al show, vamos a la obra en una sola maniobra." she sings the Dora the Explorer song, and you only laugh at her.

You make your way to the venue. It was this big event for Dior. They're showing their new makeup line and invite different type of social media presence.

The event was amazing. The Dior team was amazing and made everyone feel welcome. They even gave you a little souvenir.

You left a little earlier because Elena was done for the day, not feeling like socializing with other people but not wanting to be rude.

"Te sientes bien? Estás algo pálida, " Elena says, looking at you carefully. "Queres agua?" (Are you okay? You look pale, do you want some water?).

You were feeling kind of dizzy, but you didn't want to ruin the day with that.

"Toy' bien," you say, drinking from the bottle she opened for you. "Maybe it's the day being too hot." (I'm fine, maybe it's because of the weather, it's too hot).

She only nodded, leaving the conversation for later.

The car ride was rough. You felt to hot, too dizzy and too uncomfortable. But didn't say a word.

As Elena's driver parked in front of the hotel, she was the first to go out. "Sabes que quiero, un carpaccio de salmón." (I want some salmon carpaccio).

She was paying attention to her phone and didn't notice how you were struggling to even hold yourself on the car door.

The last thing you remember was Elena shouting your name and feeling a harsh pain in your head.

Waking up to a painful white light and with a headache was not the ideal thing.

"Ay Paulo, esta despertando." You can hear Elena's voice. (She's waking up).

"Paulo?" Is all you can ask, barely opening your eyes due to the light.

Elena noticed this and turned the switch off.

"Ya esta, relájate." She pushed you back on the bed. "Te golpeaste la cabeza, me asustaste." (It's okay, relax. You hit your head, you scared me).

"Joder, no sé que pasó." Your head is still pounding. "Dónde estamos?" (Fuck, I don't know what happened. Where are we?).

"En el hospital, lista." She says with that obvious tone. "Me diste el susto de mi vida." (At the hospital, dingbat. You scare the shit out of me).

"Paulo, donde esta mi hermano?" You ask remembering about hearing his name. (Where's my brother?).

"En portofino, lo llamé porque el hospital por protocolo lo debe llamar al ser tu contacto de emergencia." (In Portofino, I called him because the hospital did it).

You slowly nodded. Your eyes are open now, but you are still feeling a deep pain.

"No entiendo que paso, estabas bien al salir del evento." Elena was playing the whole event and day with you, trying to find an answer for your pass out. "Tal vez se te bajo el azúcar, esta horrible el calor afuera." (I don't know what happened. You were fine at the event. Maybe your sugar went low. It's pretty hot outside.)

Lucky for you, a doctor walked into the room, making her stop.

"Hi ladies, how are we feeling."

"How do you think?" Elena says and points at you.

"Well, I think that apart from the head, which you don't have any contusion, everything seems fine."

"But, this is not fine." Elena talks again, making the doctor laugh.

"Relax, please." He patts her shoulder. "Her iron went low. It's completely normal, with the weather being hell hot, it's nothing to worry about, I promise."

She nods, smiling shyly.

"And even better news for you miss." He's not talking to you. "You're very healthy, it's good. Let me call a nurse to make sure your little one is also fine."

Your head snaps up very fast. "What did you just say?"

"Oh, don't worry, it's a routine thing, we have to make sure mommy and baby are both fine before letting you leave."

You felt like passing out again. "Mommy and baby? You must have the wrong room, I'm not expecting." You're sitting now, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling of your headache. "Elena, please tell him."

Elena is as shaken as you're. Being speechless was not a thing in her books, always having something to say at the right time.

"I" she tried but nothing is coming.

"Oh, okay. My bad, " the doctor began seeing your shock. "I didn't meant for you to find out like that, I'm sorry. I'll call the nurse and we can check."

"No!" You snapped. "You need to do another test or whatever I'm not pregnant, I can't be."

The air was reducing around you, feeling a pressure on your chest.

"Wow, no, ma'am, please, let's breathe slowly, I didn't mean for this, sorry." The poor doctor is now in alert mode.

"You, friend, please go out and call a nurse."

Elena does as she's told and goes out of the room.

"No, por favor," you're hyperventilating. "The tests are wrong. Run them again."

The doctor tries everything to calm you down, working a little bit.

Elena and a nurse enter the room. The woman has a machine with her.

"Venga, respira profundamente." Elena is calming you down now. The doctor focuses his attention on the machine.

"Can you open your dress for us, love?" The lovely nurse says. "Just a little on your tummy area will be fine."

Elena helps you with that. Thank goodness your dress was a corset type, and you could undone it upfront.

You calmed a little, the crying stopped, but your breathing still irregular.

"This is going to be cold, okay?" You nod at her words. "Okay, let's see here."

The gel was indeed cold, nothing too crazy for you to handle.

She's pressing the ultrasound thing on your stomach. Yours and Elena's eyes are fixed on the little screen.

"Here it is." She points. "Here's baby."

She's smiling, but you're not, mind blank.

"What about?" Elena starts, out of breath. "What about the heartbeat? Can we hear it?"

Pressing a button was enough for you to hear the little boom boom.

Your eyes water, you let yourself fall onto the hospital bed.

"Stop it." You cry. "Make it stop, please."

"Amiga" Elena tries but you're not having it.

"No, Elena! Stop it, please."

The nurse and doctor look at each other, and she cleans the gel off of you.

"Él tenía que estar aquí, conmigo." You can't stop your tears. "Yo no tendría porque estar sola, se suponia que ambos íbamos a enterarnos juntos, ambos íbamos a planear la sorpresa a los demás, ambos íbamos a hacerlo juntos" (He was supposed to be here with me, I'm not supposed to be here alone, we were supposed to find out together, we were going to plain the announcement, we were doing all of this together).

Elena's eyes are teary. She knows what you mean. She knows your pain.

"Me quiero ir, sácame de acá" (I want to go, take me out of here).

"Can we go?" Elena ask the nurse, who's at this point kind of scared to even talk.

The doctor gives her some indications for you to follow as well as a recipe for prenatal vitamins. Indicating her how to take them.

They both left, saying goodbye to you.

After calming down a little, still very shaken with the news.

Elena helps you as you make your way out of the hospital.

The silence was uncomfortable. You didn't know what to say, and she didn't want to trigger your cries again.

The only thing in your mind is him and all the what ifs.

"Vas a decirle?" Elena broke the silence. (You're telling him?).

You didn't even know your next step, afraid of everything. You only responded by moving your shoulders.

"Sabes que estoy aquí para ti, verdad?" (You know I'm here for you, right?).

You only nod. Just wishing you could wake up for this nightmare.

Lucky you, the driver pull up to the hotel. You exit the car as fast as possible, ignoring Elena calling your name.

You run to the elevator, not waiting for her, just wanting to dissappear on your room. Thankfully, you and Elena had separate rooms.

You slammed the door as you entered, throwing yourself in bed.

After a good hour or so without moving, just existing in bed, you grabbed your phone. Making the mistake of opening Twitter.

You stared at the screen, feeling empty.

Two months.

In two months he replaced you.

After all the "you're irreplaceable."

After four years.

"Okay."

August 2026

"Venga, que parece que cada que te veo estas más grande." Paulo and you are sitting on his couch, his hand on your belly. (C'mon, it looks like every time I see you, you're bigger).

"Paulo," you laugh. "Eso es porque cada vez va creciendo más. Duh." (That's because it's growing constantly).

He laughs as well.

Paulo got so excited when you told him the news.

He loves kids. He's the type of guy who you'll fall in love with just looking at him with a kid.

"El big boy esta cada vez más grande, eso me encanta." (Big boy is getting bigger by the day, I love it.)

"Big boy," you repeat, laughing. "Mami dice que no le gusta que le digas así." (Mom said she doesn't like it when you call him like that).

"A mi me gusta decirle así." (I like calling him that). You caress your belly. "Big boy."

You were thankful for all the support your family gives you.

They didn't judge you or repremend you when you told them the news. Your parents were excited, taking the first flight to Portofino, your brother cried, he was happy to be an uncle.

They even supported your decision of not telling Pedro about the pregnancy.

After the picture of him and that girl, you decided that if he had already moved on with his life, that was okay, but you were moving too, without him.

You blocked all the people from Tenerife and cut ties with all his friends from Barcelona. You even blocked his family from everything. Your brother did the same in support.

Your parents weren't posting or mentioning anything about your baby, not wanting to mention something to the wrong person, and have Pedro and his family find out.

"Te gusta esta foto?" Me la tomé el otro día y Elena quiere que la suba." (Do you like this picture? I took it the other day, and Elena is nagging me to post it). You showed him the picture.

He nods and motivate you to post it too.

So you did.

"Harás una sesión de fotos como mamá te sugirió?" (Are you doing a maternity photoshoot like mom asked you to?)

"No sé, creo que si." (I don't know, I think so).

August 2026

"Dame una sonrisa, mami." The photographer says.

Elena, your mom and you were at Mike Peralta, a big photographer. You mom wanted the best of the best for your maternity shoot.

After a while, you're done with the photos, kind of tired. Being seven months pregnant was making you tired all day.

"Oh mi amor, estas fotos están preciosas," your mom says as Mike shows her the photos. (Oh baby, this pictures are adorable).

You change into the clothes you bring.

Elena, as well as your mother, loved your photos.

"Hola a todos." (Hello, everyone).

A very happy and excited Paulo enters the room with different drinks.

"Un chai latte para Lena, una americano para mamá, un té sin azúcar para Mike, un frappe caramelo para mi y un frappe matcha para ti y para mi big boy." (A chai latte for Lena, a Black Americano for mamá, a tea without sugar for Mike, a Caramel Frappe for me and a matcha frappe for you and big boy). He says, giving each person their drink.

When he gets to you, he kisses your belly as he hands you the drink.

"Paulo, amor mío, ven a ver las fotos." (Paulo, my love, come see the pictures). Your mom dragged him to the computer.

After your mom paid, not letting you do it, you all went back to the house you have in Portugal.

You were thankful for all the opportunities your parents gave you. They worked really hard for you and Paulo to have a nice future.

Something that always made you laugh was that Pedro's fan girls used to say you were a gold digger. Even when you grew up with more money than him.

Having that stability helped you get away from him. Not having to get back to Tenerife to do all the things you were doing.

September 2026

"No puedo creer que este año tenga que ir sola a celebrar mi cumpleaños" (I can't believe that this year I have to celebrate my birthday alone). Elena says, after her birthday dinner, you were in Manchester, she wanted to celebrate there.

You were sad too, it was the first time in all your friendship you didn't celebrate together.

"Tomemos una foto, antes de que te vayas." (Let's take a picture before you leave).

"Estoy bien hinchada, le haces photoshop." (I'm so bloated, photoshop it).

You laugh extra hard.

"Lena, créeme que la única barriga que van a ver es la mía." (The only belly people will see is mine, trust me).

"Okay." She giggle as pose with you in front of the mirror.

Elena left for her party.

She was going to a new club that her boyfriend owned.

She loved parties, and her boyfriend had the perfect places for her to party.

As the night went, she wanted to take some pictures with her whole group. But before anything, she was going to retouch her makeup.

Making her way to the bathroom, she hit someone. Making that person throw the drink in their hand.

"Omg, I'm so sorry." She turned at one table stealing their napkins.

"Elena?"

Her eyes found that person eyes.

"Pedro."

A: Ooh, okay!

I: Alright. What is your favourite Asian snack?

A: Definitely boba. Does that count?

I: Haha, sure. What was your favourite scene to film?

A: Um, I think anything that was in the nature. I love B.C..

I: What was your go to entertainment on set?

A: (laughs, and flushes slightly) I watched a lot of Formula 1 and 2 on set. I got to go to the Monaco Grand Prix like what, four months ago? It was super fun.

I: Would you like to go again?

A: Well, yeah, of course! It's Formula 1, who wouldn't want to go? (smiles and shrugs)

I: Well, if anyone wants to sponsor her...

A: (looks and points at camera) You heard it here! (giggles)

I: Thanks for your time Aubrey, enjoy the night.

A: Thank you! I hope you like the movie. (waves and starts off towards the next press interview)

AUBREY YANG'S DIRECTING DEBUT

Aubrey Yang, Hollywood's sweetheart at age 18, announces her directing debut with short film Pelt, a coming-of-age story discovering the complexities of femininity and identity. Attending New York University as a film and classics student since age 16, the former of her majors is coming to use as this film started off as a finals project.

"It's so crazy," Yang tells us over coffee, "that my school project is being bought out and brought to Hollywood". The young actress turned director "loves acting with [her] whole heart" but working behind the camera certainly has intrigue.

Filming took place over the last five months, only weeks after her movie with up and coming star Dallas Liu premiered. Her success is astounding: she has won more awards before she can legally drink than most people in this industry do in their whole careers. Maybe another award is coming for this young star, only in the creative category.

OK SO IM LATE BUT. MORE SUB3 NEWS!!!

so a few days ago, krafton (their publisher), apparently had this like presentation of their plans over the next like 2 years. and during that they talked a bit about sub 3!

and this obviously creates a LOT of questions. not to worry, though, because unknown worlds added on to this:

im honestly not surprised by this. iirc, when below zero released they said it would be a WHILE before the next game, and they only announced this back in like... january? now, the first game's release was in january, and bz was in may, so it's definitely possible early access with be in spring of 2025. those games did not have multiplayer aspections tho! its possible we'll wait until mid 2025, and full release will likely not be until 2026. but who knows? the first game took like ten to be fully finished!!

and honestly. THANK GOD. i can't imagine any subnautica game having BATTLE PASSES or LOOT BOXES. i would have just straight up ignored this game 😭

i do wonder what these updates will entail! "many years to come" is definitely something interesting to me, because other than bug fixes... i dont remember sub or bz getting many updates post full release. is this referring to bug fixes, or is it implying that it will be in a state of early access for much longer? are they going to just keep adding new things (like the building update for sub1) and taking fandom suggestions? very interested!!

maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but i actually,,,, dont want multiplayer. now i do like bz, and these games arent really intended to be horror games, but also bz is very noticeablely less scary than sub1. and some of it i think definitely has to do with all the extra characters and dialogue. its hard to feel isolated when you know al-an and marg are nearby. so im very happy that it's optional, bc i know i will probably enjoy single player a lot more enjoyable!!

so now... SPECULATION.

so the first thing im curious about that the development team didnt mention:

"uncover the mysteries on an entirely new alien planet"

apprently we are NOT returning to 4546b. which im kind of sad about!! ik the story is very obviously done there, but it feels weird that its going to be some other planet this time around. THERE WONT BE PEEPERS!!!! (well there could be but it would be weird if some other random planet had the exact same lifeforms)

now my next immediate thought is: is this a direct continuation of below zero? my opinion is: no. probably not.

mostly because it mentions up to four players, and robin and alan are, if you look very closely, only two people. now they COULD just create two new characters to go alongside them (my fanfic brain loves the au idea of marg and ryley 🥺) but im just going to assume that with the addition of a new planet, we're going to drop the old storylines. which means no more degasi, sunbeam, aurora, or ayou sisters. we might move away from architects/precursors altogether! (my basis on this is absolutely nothing and i could be wrong, this is 100% just theorizing)

also, i imagine that it would be difficult to keep the plot the exact same with two established characters and then two new ones, depending on how this multiplayer aspect works. if its another crash, it would be a lot easier to just have the extra players die/survive, then try to work in a balancing act of one guy playing al-an.

(also i like keeping the ending of bz vauge. if they show up again, they would have to mention what happened to the rest of the architects, and i think it's much more fun if thats a mystery!)

((also also, im gonna drop a bomb on u all for a second. i actually,,, dont like al-an. i have a deeper connection to probably every single other character in bz. i think they really fumbled al's character and story and he is so incredibly bland to me. it feels like they go nowhere with how he was responsible for the kharra outbreak because the game ends immediately after he confesses! it would be nice to give him another chance, sure, but i personally dread the idea of even more al-an. sorry everyone for this horrible news))

i hope they bring back some cut content creatures for this!! i noticed this new area looks VERY similar to the safe shallows, and several of the fish seem to be variations of ones we've already seen (im already seeing bladderfish and hoopfish color pallettes, and the shark resmbles some early concept art for the shadow leviathan, but with the ice worm's colors...)

will there be more land areas?? is it going to entirely underwater?? more kharra?? NO DISEASE AT ALL?? AAAAAA!!!!

Why they lost their minds and fought the wars (CS55)

Carlos Sainz x f!reader

Author's note: Happy valentines day pookies! I hope you know you are all very loved and appreciated. Have a beautiful day with your loved ones. This is a special fic, given that I haven't written about Carlos in months and need to show my bf some love. Enjoy :)

Summary: Carlos recently broke up and as his best friend you are trying to cheer him up. Especially now that Valentines Day is coming up. Everything is in order for a special "galentines" day, although what happens when Carlos surprises you out of nowhere?

Warnings: immense dose of cuteness, maybe false spanish translations. (I mention Rebecca in this fic, just to clear things out, I do like her, don’t come for me, everything is for the sake of the plot)

I couldn't bare looking at Carlos sulking on the couch, scrolling through his phone for hours and barely eating anything. I have tried everything in my power to get him moving but no matter what, he ends up either on his bed or the couch. It was a surprise that he managed to get up and be part of the SF-24 car launch a day ago.

Even though he wore his best fake smile, I could sense that he wasn't in the position to show any hint of feelings. Whether this was sadness or anger or happiness. I was trying to shower him with all my love. Constant hugs, words of affection.

The only thing that seemed to put even a small smile on his face was when I was running my fingers through his hair, scratching and massaging his scalp so he would release the tension. His soft moans were a confirmation that I was indeed helping him and the anger was fading away.

"If it eases your mind, I will always be here waiting for you and eventually we get married to each other. I have seen you at your worst do not worry." I have been saying that since we were kids. I would indeed wait for him as long as necessary.

Although Carlos didn't need to know that I was in love with him.

"Cariño, I can't hold you back from living your life, just because I am incapable of having a lasting relationship." He softly replied. Carlos and I may have been life long best friends since childhood, but he doesn’t know that everything I am looking for into a boy, is exactly what he has.

Since kids I used to say to him that eventually one day we would get married and I would follow him around the world while he would be racing in Formula One as a world champion.

“Carlos, it’s been three weeks since Rebecca broke up with you. She’s out there living her life. Don’t you think that it’s a sign for you to do the same. You’re always full of energy and up for any activity. What happened to the Spaniard I know and love?” I sat next to him and his eyes instantly locked with mine.

“I lost my seat at the beginning of the month. My girlfriend a few days before that. Why is everything so wrong in my life? This season started off so badly.” Every time Carlos mentions the Ferrari issue, my heart breaks even more than the first time I found out.

I was shocked when I tuned into Sky Sports and instead of seeing a massive football transfer at the end of the January Transfer Window, I saw the caption with big bold letter ‘Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari in 2025’

“I will do anything in my power for the rest of the year to be the best one for you, I promise. I’m so sorry things have started off on the wrong foot.” My voice was breaking, trying not to tear up, as Carlos’s eyes were slowly closing.

“The world needs more people like you amór. Honestly, even at my lowest moments, you always look out for me. I don’t know how I would’ve survived Formula One without you.” And then he drifted into sleep, as I got up and placed him in a more comfortable position.

It was still very early in the morning and the thought of Carlos not celebrating today was causing an ache in my heart. Before falling in love with him, he was the boy that always made me smile no matter what. Even if this meant he fought with childhood friends that were picking on me.

I grabbed my keys, wallet and phone and headed off to the nearest mini market in Italy close to Carlos’s soon to be former home. Even though I didn’t know the region very well, I found one twenty minutes away and when I made my way there, the first thing I saw was many boyfriends holding the same baskets the market was offering so they could stuff it with candies for their girlfriends.

I took a basket myself and started strolling around the market, throwing in all of Carlos’s favorite sweets. After paying for the basket, thankfully there was a flower shop near and I instantly made my way in. The original plan was to buy Carlos some tulips, given that he had fallen in love with them after the celebration the Dutch fans had organized during the Grand Prix in The Netherlands.

My attention was caught by a machine inside the store that allowed you to create your own stuffed animal and put a shirt on it with a phrase or logo. In most of the stands with the examples of bears you could make there were some Ferrari inspired ones, which also included Carlos’s number on a shirt with the 55 and his nickname ‘smooth operator’

It was good to see how some Italians still supported him, despite knowing that a seven times world champion would be joining the team. I walked towards the machine and was immediately greeted by a lovely old man who was more than willing to help me.

I looked at the options of animals I had. When I saw the dog options and one of them was similar to Pinõn, I picked it up and handed it to him. Then it was time for the t-shirt, to which I asked to have written down the phrase ‘world champion or not, i am your no1 fan’

“Oh is your boyfriend an athlete?” The old man asked me in a heavy Italian accent with a smirk on his face.

I blushed and giggled at his manners “Not my boyfriend but yes, he is. May know him as well.”

“He’s Italian? Footballer?” He was getting excited by the thought of being an Italian athlete.

“Is a member of an Italian team but will soon leave. A champion is replacing him.” Every time those words came out of my mouth, my heart would break even more.

“It’s the young Spaniard, Carlos Sainz? Oh it’s a pity he’s not going to continue with Ferrari. I really liked him.” I nodded my head in agreement. At least he had a final year in Ferrari to prove his worth and what he is able to achieve as a driver.

As the stuffed animal was getting ready in the machine, the old man was telling me stories of how he had always been a fan of Ferrari ever since Niki Lauda first joined the team. He was a little kid when the horrifying accident took place.

“Tell Carlos to never give up. He is capable of so many great things. It was lovely meeting you.” He shook my hand after I payed for the animal which at first he wanted to give me for free but I couldn’t leave without paying.

“I will. Great getting to know you too sir. Have a beautiful day.” When I left the store, I took my phone out which I accidentally had left on silent and was flooded with calls from Carlos, although when I looked at it, there was an incoming one from Charles.

“Where on earth are you?” He said in a worried manner.

“I am out shopping. Why? Is something wrong? Are you okay, Charles?”

“Carlos is getting sick worried. You weren’t picking up your phone and all your stuff were gone. Please go back home, he’s going insane.”

“It was my fault. I had my phone accidentally on silent mode. I am heading back right now. Oh dear. Thank you for telling me Charles.”

“Oh and, y/n, how is he doing? Is he okay? Do you guys need me for anything?” It was sweet that Charles was worried about Carlos. I mean, after all, this was Carlos’s fourth year in Ferrari and he was Charles’s most long lasting teammate, their bond was strong.

“All in order Charlie boy. Go celebrate with Alex. Give her my best. Happy Valentine’s!” I said happily before I received an equally enthusiastic wish from Charles and hung up.

I drove through the streets of Maranello as fast as I could, so Carlos would stop getting worried. Once I was outside the house, I parked quickly and got all the stuff I bought him and knocked on the door.

Carlos opened and instantly a wave of relief washed through him, taking away the worried look that was plastered all over his face.

“¿Dónde demonios estabas? Me asusté tanto que no tienes ni idea.” (Where the hell were you? I got so scared you have no idea.)

“Happy Valentine’s Carlito!” Was all I said, showing him the gifts I bought with a massive smile drawn on my lips.

I made my way inside as Carlos wouldn’t remove his eyes off of the present with a shocked expression. He took the basket first, looking through at all his favorites’s like a little kid.

“Querida, esto no era necesario. Eres la más dulce.” (My dear, this was not necessary. You are the absolute sweetest.)

He wrapped his arms around my body and lifted me into the air, spinning me around like he used to do back when we were children. I wrapped my legs around his torso, squeezing him tightly, wanting to share all the love I have for him. I loved Carlos so much and even though he may not love me the way I do, I am more than thankful to have him in my life.

“What is this? Oh a little Pinõn. It’s so adorable, y/n.” He squeezed the small plushie and when he saw at what the shirt was saying, Carlos started tearing up but quickly removed the tears drops that had fallen to his cheeks.

“You’re so special to me, Carlos. I know this season is going to be a difficult one, although no matter what, I will always be by your side. Whether you finish 1st or 20th, my support will be unconditional. I promise you that." My voice is muffled against his chest and head that is leaning onto mine. Carlos's embrace is the safest place one can find themselves in.

"All my life I had been trying to understand what went wrong with all my relationships and you know what?"

"What?"

"I was looking for you in them. When all I simply needed was to be with you. I could have always been happy."

Carlos's words made my head raise and look up to him. There wasn't just a smile plastered on his lips, but on his eyes as well. The brown had switched into a beautiful hazel and his lips were a brighter shade of red than any Ferrari had ever met.

I have seen people be concerned that the 2025 release date for Legends ZA is going to be January 2025, and that Game Freak isn't really getting a break after all. While I can't say that's absolutely not true, I will say that I think it is unlikely based on the difference in how the two Legends games were announced.

I just went back and rewatched 2021's Pokémon Day Presents, where Legends Arceus was announced. For Legends Arceus, they showed actual gameplay footage, from pokémon models, to battles, to Rei and Akari walking around and tumbling through grass. They also, crucially, said the release was planned for EARLY 2022. We knew from the jump that it WOULD be a January/February release, for sure.

By contrast, we had NO actual gameplay footage for Legends ZA yet, possibly because there isn't any to show. And for the release date, they simply said 2025. There was NO qualifier. If they were planning a January/February release, surely they would have said so like with Legends Arceus, but they didn't. So I have to think that, at least for right now, they aren't planning that.

So while I could be wrong, I really think that they are getting a longer dev time and we don't have to worry here. I think this game will likely be saved for November 2025 so they can take advantage of the Christmas season like usual. We'll have to wait and see, but that's where my money is right now.

i asked you a while ago whether the next tidbit of TLT content would be the nona paperback short story and you gave a very nice well-formed answer summarising what you expected... and you were right... and now i'm back again because i can't find the post and i'm also losing my mind trying to figure out when we'll get a taste of alecto. do we know when tamsyn finished writing nona relative to cover reveals and things? we were so spoiled with harrow + as yet unsent + like 6 preview chapters back to back we barely had to wait. and now it's been a year and a half. and she's still writing. are we going to see a thing before 2025?

im guessing it’s this ask?

when i read htn in 2020 i was assuming we’d get alecto in 2021 (haha) so honestly ive been waiting so long that im just chilling these days. for me, alecto is just gonna get here when it gets here and i take it as it comes. i don’t have any real information on any of this other than past experience, but since my last post turned out to be correct here’s some more of my guesses:

genuinely have no idea if we’ll see anything pre-2025. id imagine that tor will release ~something~ just to keep the hype going, but who knows. to answer your question, nona was originally part i of alecto and so im assuming muir had finished the vast majority of ntn by the time it was announced the trilogy was splitting into a series, and then the cover release happened in january with the book release following in september

i believe the alecto cover has been confirmed finished for a while now, so really it’s just whenever they decide to release that, but i think they’ll follow a similar timeline to the nona the ninth cover release approx 9 months prior (with snippets following). but with the huge gap who knows maybe they’ll throw us some extra stuff.

overall: id imagine the whole release schedule of everything all depends on how close muir is to a finished product, which is anyone’s guess

ONE: It's 2024, and nobody knows they're engaged.

Every milestone they've had as a couple has been splashed about for public consumption, dissected in thinkpieces and turned into quirky 'Times FirstPrince was just like every other early 20s relationship: a thread' social media posts. This is theirs, and they want to keep it that way for a while.

Just for a while.

TWO: The thing is. The thing is.

Technically, Henry is still in the process of giving up the title and removing himself from the line of succession. Everyone knows it's happening, and everyone and their dog has an opinion about it (David, Henry is fairly certain, feels quite positively about the whole thing); but the machinations of government are slow, and as it stands right now, Henry is still legally an HRH and fourth in line to the throne.

And as such, he can't marry without the sovereign's permission.

Ironically, the only punishment for doing so would be his (and his future children's) removal from the line of succession, the very thing he's in the process of doing anyway. It seems like it should be a win-win. But he's sure that once the media get wind of the engagement, the UK media narrative will focus even more strongly on how Henry's abandonment is That Evil (Brown) American's Fault, and he'll do everything in his power to protect Alex from as much of the blowback as they possibly can.

So they'll wait to tell everyone until Henry is no longer HRH Prince Henry George Edward James Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, but instead just Henry Fox, fiancé of Alex Claremont-Diaz.

THREE: They really don't mean to let it get as far as they do. They intend to tell Alex's family at Thanksgiving, but Oscar and Ellen start sniping at each other earlier than they usually do, and it kills the whole mood. Then Mary dies, and no family news can be announced during the mourning period unless absolutely unavoidable—and Henry doesn't want to burden his mum with news she can't share. Horrible old bigot or not, Mary was still her mother, and now Catherine is Queen Catherine I. She's got enough to deal with.

They'll try again in 2025.

FOUR: Bea announces she's pregnant at the end of January, and the rings go back in the drawer. She'd never ask them to delay announcing just because they know it will shift focus entirely, and that's exactly why Henry wants to.

"She took such a media beating for years," he tells Alex, his head resting on Alex's stomach, Alex's fingers running through his hair. "She deserves to enjoy all the positivity instead. But Christ, I want to be married to you."

Alex's hand stills for a moment. "I mean... we've kept secrets from the media before."

FIVE: Eleven weeks. They last eleven weeks before people start figuring it out, and Henry's fairly certain that's only because Nora is too busy with her job to piece it all together.

June nearly kills them when she finds out.

Dog Man X Jakks Pacific Toys / Disguise Costumes Collab

Jakks Pacific and Disguise Costumes joins with Dav Pilkey's Dog Man series to create new toys and costumes based from the popular book series. The upcoming collection (including plushies, action figures, playsets, costumes and accessories) will launch this early 2025 to coincide with DreamWorks Dog Man movie releasing on January 31, 2025.

For those who don't know about Jakks Pacific, it's a toy company who also makes toys based on Nintendo (including the Super Mario series), Sonic the Hedgehog and Disney. They also have a costume division, Disguise for costumes and accessories. I also collect Dog Man merchandise and I really can't wait for these!

It’s fucking coffee, of all things, that finally does it. Or, Buck buys Eddie's favorite brand of coffee for his loft, and Eddie's brain short-circuits, leading to a realization.

Eddie’s foot feels heavy on the gas pedal, while his hands grip the steering wheel tightly, to prevent them from shaking. He’s driving almost on autopilot, while trying his best to compartmentalize and focus on just getting to the hospital, trying not to think about Buck- about what’s happening in the back of the ambulance right now. Or, after the drive to the hospital after Buck's hit by lightning, Eddie loses it. Sort of 6x10 coda.

He can’t help but think that this is some kind of sick joke from the universe, which he doesn’t believe but he knows Buck would. “The universe is screaming at you and you refuse to listen” is what Buck said once, it feels like a lifetime ago. He didn't believe it, then, either. And now the universe is mocking Eddie, having him have to tell their kid about Buck, just like Buck had to tell him about the shooting. Eddie doesn’t know how Buck did it, how he had the strength, because he’s on the verge of breaking down and shattering into a million little pieces. Or, Eddie goes home to tell Christopher about Buck getting hurt.
