More Majid Stuff

I post once in a blue moon b/c I work in random bursts and get tired easily, but here are some rambles about Majid that I’ve saved in my Notes app and probably haven’t mentioned before!

There are some rumors circulating around Majid regarding his wealth

More specifically: how he got his wealth

All these rumors range from him being a secret son of a noble family to taking shady underground jobs that paid ridiculously well

His name had been searched up more than once, but the only thing that pops up is a bakery business w/ a small branch located in the Land of Hot Sands... not too far from where Majid grew up...

Majid’s a quick learner; he just lacks the motivation lol

Tends to overthink too often, tho, coming up with detailed plans to get out of doing the most mundane stuff

Funny to watch but a pain in the ass to comprehend 😔

Although Majid tries to get out of doing most stuff, there are some things he can’t let slide

He can get picky over how some tasks are done; honestly??? this might be a good tactic on getting him to work (“Hey, Majid. Can you help set up the decorations for tonight’s party?” “No.” “Aaaa, okay, guess we’ll just have Mark do it-“ “Mark? You want to leave decorating to him? Do you want the lounge looking like a highlighter projectile vomited over the walls and ceiling? Give me those streamers. I’ll do it myself-“)

Definitely a quality over quantity kind of person; his room may be a mess of different things, but, rest assured, it’s only the best of the best of stuff that stay for long like lava lamps

I want to say that Majid is picky about a lot of things in general, but he does have his exceptions; for example: food, napping locations, job opportunities, ummm (･_･;) That’s most of what I can think of right now, dang

This pickiness is kiiind of 👉👈 referencing a trait that the Cave of Wonders has; like the whole “only a diamond in the rough shall enter here“ business that was going on idk I’m trying my best

As you can see, I went ham when it came to the “Who disturbs my slumber” line the tiger head had lol 😅(sorry that had become your defining trait, m’boi)

And the mass of riches he’s accumulated over the years was another obvious reference to the inside of the cave as well; can also act as a loose metaphor of what’s stopping him from getting the help he needs; as the treasures in the cave were put there w/ the intent of distracting a person from the ultimate goal of the magic lamp, so does his own treasures serve as a temporary distraction from moving forward in his life

But if that’s too much of a stretch, then plz slap the inner English teacher in me and then myself

Majid’s good at looking through people’s facades and judging a person’s true character, but it’s not like he does much w/ this info

Unless they try confronting him or something, he just avoids/shuts down people he gets bad vibes from

Doesn’t make tactless comments; figured out that dealing with pissed off people was more work than it’s worth

Boi tends to ask a lot of questions when speaking to other people; partly b/c of trust issues; partly b/c he might be lowkey judging you (can’t use his unique magic all the time after all :/)

He’s the type of person who acts like he knows everything, but he really doesn’t; just hates getting looked down upon in general; will bluff his way through situations by being as vague as possible

He leans towards how his mother used to speak; that is: beating around the bush

He won’t lie to you, but it might take some time until he’ll give you the whole truth; and when I say it’ll take some time, IT REALLY WILL TAKE SOME TIME B/C THIS BOY IS UNBELIEVABLY STUBBORN

Is casual to whoever he speaks to, no matter the age; if he gets extremely annoyed with someone, especially if they’re older than him, he’ll use this over exaggerated polite tone that makes it real obvious he’s fed up with them

Gets ticked off whenever anyone advises him to do anything, but he’ll still take that advice to heart

Majid’s probably tired all the time b/c of all the jewelry he’s carrying around smh

Majid sounds/looks like he’s angry all the time, but that’s just his resting face 😔; I mean, he’s always a little irritated, but it’s mostly b/c he’s stuck in that state of being forced awake from a deep afternoon nap (b/c... that’s usually what happens to him)

Plus, have you met his upperclassmen? Have you seen what was going on in Scarabia during Chapter 4?????? Have you met the headmaster of this school???????? (; ω ; )

He doesn’t like people touching stuff that’s his; same thing goes for people touching stuff in general that aren’t theirs; doesn’t like thieves (he’s stolen stuff when he was younger, but he justifies that he only did so to survive; and he’s not entirely wrong)

Ironic b/c his mom was a thief 🤭

He’s also a pretty obedient student save for the whole “trying to sleep in class w/o getting caught” thing that he’s still trying to accomplish; doesn’t like it when the professors get strict with him but will grit his teeth and bear with it

Prefers magic carpets to magic broomsticks; there’s just a lot more surface area when it comes to carpets plus he’s more familiar with the former

Spends a lot of his time in the Scarabia storage room b/c it reminds him of his bedroom back home; probably became buddies w/ Kalim’s magic carpet while he was there too

But if we’re talking about the type of people Majid could tolerate befriending uummm... maybe those with good hearts?? Idk, like those who are genuinely trying to be a good person no matter what kind of obstacles they run into (referencing how the cave of wonders only let a diamond in the rough enter)

They don’t have to be all nice or sweet, but as long as Majid can tell they have kind intentions, he won’t immediately leave them

Has a “haaah... these guys are hopeless... might as well keep an eye on them so they don’t screw up any more than they already have” attitude towards these people

Other type of person Majid would unintentionally befriend are those who are also annoyed of being told what to do by upperclassmen/authority figures; ☺️🙏 vent out your frustrations together wooo

Has some squabbles with Leona when it comes to napping locations

It’s actually pretty funny to watch b/c they both don’t want to give up their spot but also they don’t want to bother getting up

Leona wins most of the time, tho

Majid may have had a lot of energy when he was younger but now he’s a g e d

I rarely mention Majid’s lava illusion magic thing, but yeah that’s a thing; he probably won’t be able to use it to its full extent until his last year of high school and maybe a little bit later; it takes up a ton of energy; I keep on imagining him using it and joking that “aaaa the floor is lava lol”, but then I remember the psychological effects this ability has on the victim and 😬 yikes scratch that

Majid has a loud clear voice when he speaks; often startles whoever’s walking by when he naps in the shadows

As a result of spending most of his time w/o a stable support system and no one static to guide his beliefs, Majid doesn’t follow any particular religion; he does have coworkers back at the curio/appraisal/pawn shop who do, tho, and while he doesn’t entirely understand it, he respects them as much as he can

I’ve said before that Majid selfishly keeps all his wealth to himself for fear of losing his self worth, but there are some exceptions (such as to anyone he passes who’s begging in the streets, a coworker who’s struggling to make ends meet, etc.)

He’s fine with giving away some money, but not in huge amounts

And if he’s giving money to anyone, it’s done in a round about way; usually w/ a dismissive excuse

If this boi had a route, depending on how the MC acts around him, the majority of it will be spent breaking down those walls and befriending him; generally going like this: shovel all trust issues into incinerator one by one —>Get him to tolerate you —> Get him to trust you —> Befriend (?) Him —> Deal w/ his other deep seated issues —-> Romance (if we’re going for that otome game kinda thing i guess???))

I can just imagine Majid temporarily visiting the Land of Hot Sands w/ MC after befriending him and finding out the truth about his parents through his boss at the curio shop; MC encourages him to travel north to pay a visit at some facility b/c it’s rumored that at least his father is still alive

(No idea what happened to Lara; probably suffered worse consequences due to making several prison breaks; had decently powerful magical abilities, so that would probably explain the whole forced amnesia thing that happened after their disappearance)

Majid is torn b/w wanting to go alone b/c this is a personal matter (And he wants MC to be safe) and being scared of losing MC if something horrible happens to him on his journey north; he knows what it’s like to be suddenly abandoned, and he doesn’t want that for anybody, especially for someone he cares about

He doesn’t want to repeat his father’s mistakes, regardless if it was accidental or not

Majid decides to go on his own; probably had some touching parting w/ MC; maybe we’ll go full otome and have a hugging CG where he swears that he will be back for MC

And MC is just like “Aight;;; cool;;; good luck;;”; something sentimental like that

Couple of days passed; we’re worried about him

He returns with a worried look on his face before breaking into a relieved smile when he sees MC; power walks to hug them even tighter than before

Majid thanks them for all they’ve done; he then spends the rest of the day and well into the night describing all he’s experienced and his visit with his dad

They go back to NRC and Majid is less bratty than before, much to the surprise of Jamil and to the delight of Kalim; actually starts to make an effort to not push people away at every opportunity (b/c he originally felt like they all had their own hidden agenda and were just using him for their own gain, y’know)

Boi becomes even more clingy towards MC; by that, I don’t mean he’s overly attached to them (he’s afraid of making the same mistake he did in the past), but rather he shows it through light casual touches here and there (a brush of the fingers when exchanging papers, patting MC’s head when they do something well, gently tugging at their sleeve when he needs their attention) and constantly checking up on them to see how they’re doing

Awkward levels in Majid increase as he constantly wonders if he’s crossing a line when it comes to him showing any kind of affection; he doesn’t want to come off as creepy and make MC hate him

Might also resist being given love and affection at first; but once he gets used to it, he absolutely m e l t s

Cuddles are 👌; might give teary eyes if MC tries to leave early during a cuddling session, but he won’t pressure them to stay; a touch starved boi

Doesn’t think much of PDA, giving or receiving; full on making out and anything further is kind of a no-go, tho; hugging is nice and so are short and sweet kisses; will glare at anybody who says anything about it

If his s/o was clingier than he is, he might get a little embarrassed; same thing goes if his s/o was really cute

Definitely the type of boyfriend to buy random gifts for his s/o b/c these things reminded him of them

Younger Majid was in full on puppy mode all the time, or at least when he was around people he liked; also a huge people pleaser too, since he was afraid of them leaving him

He was probably reckless too in order to entertain his friends

Was really polite, especially when it came to adults; always calling them Mister and Miss(us)

He was also just loud

Future Majid (if he came to terms with most of his problems) would be more mellow than his teenage self; still anti-social but he’s less angry at the world now; would go on to own the curio shop after the previous owner passed on; reverted it into both a jewelry/appraisal shop in order to honor his father plus respect the previous owner’s memory as well

Sells and repairs jewelry and appraises supposedly rare items that come through his store; still does odd jobs for the people in the neighborhood but his prices aren’t as outrageously high as he made them when he was younger

He names the new store after his mother, at the request of his father (plus I only recently heard the song “House of Gold” by Twenty One Pilots and hnnnmmg it fits well with this golden boy)

Majid is interested in most things related to jewelry, probably subconsciously influenced by his father; this includes repairing bits of jewelry; he moves delicately when it comes to these kinds of tasks

He’s a night owl; it’s much quieter at night

Has bad posture from sleeping in different weird places

His body is prone to heating up easily; the fact that he lives in the Land of Hot Sands and was also sorted into Scarabia is just unfortunate luck

Sneaks off to cooler areas on campus in his free time to chill; one of his favorite spots is the Octavinelle lounge since it’s air conditioned and dark, and he can get away with taking a nap before going over his time limit and getting kicked out

The library is nice too (´∀｀)

Would like to go to Ignihyde too, but he’s put off by the feeling of being underground (gotta have that bit of irony like Jamil being afraid of bugs 👌)

He tolerates Kalim better than Jamil; probably b/c the latter scolds him for slacking off

Actually went to Kalim for tutoring advice once before realizing part of the way that his senior had no idea what he was doing; Jamil has earned his respect when it comes to academics

Kinda jealous of the duo’s stamina; Majid’s usually heaving for air after long marches or if he’s ever chosen as a backup dancer for one of Scarabia’s many parties; he’s the ( ・∇・) least athletic of my OCs...

No, he can’t dance, but he can feign the movements well enough to not get caught

I hihi I am!!! A little nervous w/ doing this bc I've never done this b4 so please bear🐻 w// me💦 May I request a match up? A vision, a romantic partner and maybe a friend and/or enemy? I sort of fluctuate when it comes to being an introvert/extroverted. W// strangers and irl, I'm very introverted and shy!! Rarely speak and if I do it's just the usual "Hi how are you? That's good. I'm good too, thank you for asking:)" yeayea I'm not too. Keen on social interaction irl. But I always do my best to be very nice!! I never wanna come off as mean bc wow what a bad first impression that would be. But with friends / ppl ik online?? Whew I am very very friendly n chatty ^^ Either very high energy or very chill, there's rarely any inbetween. Sometimes I like to jokingly tease my friends but I'd never go too far / make them uncomfortable!! And if I do I always apologize right away!! I like to say that I'm affectionate?? I also really like to listen to other people talk abt things they like!!!! Its so nice :) I'm protective over people I care about!! I've never done it but 100% would bark at someone who messed with someone close to be. Arf arf yaknow. I tend to he impulsive. I'll do something, and be all "YEAH>:D" and then regret it later. And then I'll do it all over again in a fun little cycle :) I consider myself an optimist, but quickly turn into a pessimist whenever it concerns myself. Fun funfun. Should probably mention that I am. A very insecure person w/ dangerously low self esteem, which is super fun esp when you mix that with the fact that I'm rarely ever motivated to improve. Yayayay Also sort of a pushover?? Like most often than not I'll be convinced to do something, even if I'm not too keen on doing it. Also afraid of confrontation when it comes to my friends and strangers (that is, if it's concerning me!! I'll order smthn for my friend but if I need to order for myself?? uhh stutter time aha). I'm also a mega simp ahah! Srsly though if I fall for someone/get infatuated with someone I. Will be so obvious abt it even though I try very hard not to be. Would gush over that person probably. I don't really like mean people tbh. Like yes I'll be nice and civil with them but!!! I cannot stand!!! Rude people!!! Esp when they're mean for no reason like sir??? maam??? homie??? chill pls ty<3 People who aren't necessarily mean, but moreso have bastard energy and are just really "hehe>:D" but playfully are p poggers tho!!! I think I get along with kids!! I have a little sister,, around like. Nine? And we get along really well!! I also try and match a kid's energy whenever I'm tasked with looking after them. I take pride in the fact that kids like me >:].... even if they sometimes scare me-- Ok, interest time!!

I like art!! Quite a bit!! Less of a realistic artist and more of a cartoonist!! Idk there's just something fun abt drawing cartoons, hehe. I also like self ships - I have quite a bit of them, actually ! Idk its comforting drawings your fictional crushes loving you idkidk. I like writing too! Both original stories, and one-shots or personal fics that are associated with already created media!! Writing character backstories and personalities and stuff is also fun too! I've even made my own fictional world with a full fledged backstory n everything! It's very fun to think about. I'm a day dreamer!!! Yea remember when I said I write stories? I day dream abt potential stories even more. Mmm daydream world so nice so warm so fun I read aswell!! Mostly fantasy books, or stories where animals are the protagonists. Think Warrior Cats. But my favorite book series has got to be Guardians of Ga'Hoole. Fantasy owl books, anyway! X Readers are also things I enjoy reading :) Again, s I m p Also gaming!!! Is something fun I do sometimes!!! Although it's usually Genshin Impact, or Wii Sports/Resort w// my little sister. Oh, also pokemon! I rlly like Primarina, Vaporeon, Sylveon and Vulpix/Ninetails! I absolutely adore sweet foods, and baking is smthn I'm def interested in! Don't like foods w// weird textures though, like beans or mashed potatoes. Also I. Love spice so much. Mmm love it when my mouth burns so bad. Don't have a favorite animal but I've had three cats in my lifetime (btw not important but my current cat is named Sylvester and. He's my baby boy) so I am. A very big cat fan. Probably not needed but I really like sword and claymore characters. Literally all of the characters I main are either sword or claymore users. Although I did get Diona, so I miiight start forcing myself to learn how to aimmm. I see that I tend to like people/characters that are a little more extroverted than me. Upbeat, happy type beat!!! This is a website (that I for one use for entertainment) and whether or not you reblog a post does not make you a bad person (or a better one than the rest of us mortals for that matter).

Of course, twin! You know I’ll be happy to answer your thoughts, and that I love sharing thoughts!

So I’ll start from my faves to least faves (AKA Mr. Creep).

Let’s start, shall we?

(IDK why the Read More only works on the website/my laptop and not the app. Sorry about it. =( )

Kiro, our blonde angel- AKA the guy you would have a crush on from the first moment, only to find out he feels the same- AKA Adrien Agreste, MLQC version (remember us saying that?)

I mean, I already told you but irl I would most likely go for somone like Kiro. He’ s sweet, kind, open and super friendly! I could talk to him about anything, and he would make any day an adventure! =D

I mean I am demi, so looks don’t really attract me. Butttt this girl’s biggest compliment for looks is cute (AKA adorableness that would make me gush), and Kiro has LOTS of that! Just look at him!

hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff

Definitely the most Hufflepuff of the bunch! (Another reason he’s my MLQC soulmate!) He’s super loyal to MC, even to the point of losing everything for her! (AKA “not Kiro”.) He also does anything he can for others, as can be seen in that date when he records a super sweet video for a sick fan of his because Kiro can’t visit them! Of course, he values fairness, which is why he super appreciates MC, who doesn’t give him any special treatment because of his fame. And of course, he treats everyone with respect! No doubt about that. =)

best quality: His sweetness! I love how adorable he is, lol. But now in all honesty, I would probably say how much he’s willing to do for MC? Lol what did you expect? I’m a Hufflepuff. xD

Though tbh I’ll probably say the same about Gavin, so something Kiro has that Gavin doesn’t- I think in a way his simplicity. Like he’s super busy, but always makes time for MC. He’s very down-to-earth in a kind way, and shares his feelings even when it can be scary. I mean he’s probably the most open about his feelings, at least in MLQC, but MC is too dense to reaize his very clear hints. Lol our favorite dumdum MC. xD

worst quality: Ughhh Kiro’s worst quality? Honestly, this is hard, but I would probably say that it’s how he never shares any of his plans with MC. Not that I doubt that he means the best, but dude- dialogue! Lol if he would actually tell MC what he’s planning it would probably save both of them lots of heartbreak. Even vague hints are better than nothing!

ship them with: MC definitely!

brotp them with: Um… idk. Honestly, I can’t really see him vibe with anyone but MC? Lol he’s too innocent for that. xD

needs to stay away from: Definitely Mr. Creep. And maybe Savin when he’s flirting with girls. Ooooh and definitely Gavin when he’s jealous. Lol xD (Btw, if you haven’t played the Trio Date already, play it! It’s hilarious to see Kiro’s dynamic with a jealous Gavin. xD

misc. thoughts: I would definitely say he’s the purest and most angelic of the bunch. There’s just something so pure and childlike about him- he’s literally a boy in a young man’s body. (Not that I’m complaining!)

I mean I would totally marry Gavin if not Kiro. I love his loyalty. But irl I would probably not marry him, because he would be too standoffish.

Definitely attractive, but tbh I would probably like the looks of someone like Victor more. xD (Not that I care that much, if at all!)

hogwarts house: gryffindor | slytherin | ravenclaw | hufflepuff

Gavin is a definite mix of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, but when it comes down to it I would probably say he’s more of a Gryffindor than a Hufflepuff. After all, he teaches MC how to fight for herself so she could be stronger. He’s a cop that works in the field, instead of working behind the scenes. He does some things that can be considered stupid for the people he cares about.

Now obviously, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have Hufflepuff qualities- he does lots of amazing things that show this side. For example, all the kindness he gave to others without MC knowing when they were teenagers, keeping his bad boy persona. And the way he does anything to defend others, and values others about himself. And he clearly became a cop to protect people, not to get glory.

But personally, I think that if Gavin would have to choose between bravery and physical prowess or equality and loyalty, he would choose the former- even if he appreciates the latter almost as much.

best quality: Lol like before, how much he’s willing to do for MC without her even knowing. He does everything behind the scenes, without making a big deal of it.

But what I would say truly makes him unique is how he’s super considerate of MC’s want or needs. He never forces himself on her *glares at Mr. Creep*. Even when he was forced to stay in MC’s house, he asked for MC’s permission. And he left the door open so she would know he was there. Ugh that part left me so softttt, it was truly poetic cinema.

worst quality: I said this before, but probably his physical force when he sees something as important. I mean when Gavin sees something as important, or gets jealous, he can resort way too quickly to violence. He’s the only MLQC boy who actually scared MC in his dates (from what I know), and that is seriously wrong. Not that I don’t love him, but if he doesn’t keep it under control it can truly end bad.

ship them with: Is it even a question? Lol MC. ^-^

brotp them with: Minorrrrr! Lol the both of them would be hilarious together! (I totally see Minor bugging Gavin, Gavin hating it but at some point it grows on him and he grumpily accepts him as a romantic partner. Lol xD)

needs to stay away from: Lucien, probably. Cause he would kill him before Mr. Creep could even say “MC”. And Victor, too, because Gavin would also kill him before he could say “dummy”.

Now that I think about it, probably any guy who’s more than friends with MC. Or maybe any guy MC is friends with. xD

misc. thoughts: Honestly, Gavin is the perfect example of a “macho” man who’s also the perfect gentlemen. As in the complete opposite of toxic masculinity.

Victor, the cold and calculating but secretly soft CEO- AKA the annoying bully who says stupid things but for some reason never stops, and then after too long you discover it’s because he likes teasing you, cause he has feelings for you. And what a coincidence, apparently you have feelings for him too!- AKA an MLQC version of a slightly-less-desperate Severus Snape from Harry Potter (if you were Lily Potter)

I mean I just don’t really see the appeal too much. I love his relationship with MC, but for me he’s too cold.

He is not a Hufflepuff. Need I say more?

He is cold, calculating and powerful. From the little I know of him, he had to work hard to reach where he was. Victor is the type of person who would do it all for the power and influence he would have in the future. Slytherins are like that: they work hard to make themselves the best they can be (materialistaclly, which isn’t necessarily bad, of course- as long as they don’t overdo it.)

He is also a bit Ravenclaw, but only a bit tbh.

best quality: His teasing! Lol honestly I love it! It’s hilarious, and so enjoyable. xD

worst quality: He’s too condescending imho. Teasing is fine, but he insults MC too much for it to be balanced. Honestly, irl this would be really toxic- even abusive.

ship them with: I mean, he and MC are hilarious together. XD

brotp them with: Okay, not really Brotp, but it always interested me what kind of dynamic he and Lucien would have as a team.

needs to stay away from: Lol Gavin and Kiro. Gavin because he would kill Victor for the way he treats MC (mostly), and Kiro because his charming smiles would unsettle him. (He can barely manage MC- and Kiro is more sunshine than she is. There is no way he would like Kiro.)

misc. thoughts: I love his relationship with MC- maybe even my second favorite after Kiro and MC, but I wouldn’t date him in real life. Nor would I recommend it, but tbh I would say that he isn’t SO bad. As long as he balances his insults, he’ll be great. He just needs to make sure not to overdo it, because his insults themselves are annoying, but not really hurtful.

Lucien, the creepiest enemy-turned-lover cliche- AKA a guy who constantly flirts with you and smiles when you blush from uncomfort, but somehow grows on you. He’s the one who leads the relationship, at the end of the day- AKA a mix of Lila Rossi and a slightly less extreme MLQC version of Edward from Twilight (”I like watching you sleep” in my own apartment because why not when you live right next door?)

Sorry-not sorry. HE HECKING THREATENED MC WITH A KNIFE. NOT ROMANTIC AT ALL.

I guess he can be considered attractive but I can’t see it casue he’s too much of a creep.

I used to think he’s Slytherin because he’s cold and calculating, but he’s not really as cold as Victor in a way. I mean, Victor hardly shows any emotion. Lucien does, it’s just a half-mask-ish.

And the games does show that his mask is a lot of the truth. He is a proffesor, and basically all he talks about is knowledgable stuff. He’s the type of person who would spend his time sitting and learning, not advancing himself, helping others or fighting evil.

I mean he’s a mix of both, like Victor, but probably more Ravenclaw.

best quality: Uh… he helps MC a lot in her show, maybe even more than the other guys, without requiring anything in return? Lol idk. xD

worst quality: HE LITERALLY THREATENED TO STAB MC. I don’t care what excuse it is, NOTHING can excuse that.

ship them with: No one.

brotp them with: As I said in Victor’s thing, I don’t really ship them as a couple, but I think it would be interesting to see them as a team.

needs to stay away from: Gavin and Victor cause both of them would kill him for hurting MC so deeply. And Kiro, so he won’t taint that angel with his creepiness.

misc. thoughts: Yeah… hope I got it right. Honestly I don’t really remember the knife part, but I trust what you once said. And honestly, he is SO creepy.

by GOD i am a horrible person who literally responded to this over two weeks late but thank you @/mysticalmusicwhispers for tagging me!! i chose to just respond to these questions on an individual post due to the fact that the original post is a bit lengthy. i am so sorry that i stalled responding to this for so long

responses are below the cut! 👍

1. most recent daydream

most of my daydreams usually just involve some of my characters in various scenarios i’ve made up for them! i’d elaborate on the one i had most recently, but they’re all really boring and not very interesting honestly. my recent one just involved me attempting to mentally animate a scene in my head where some of them bake a cake together (which i don’t think would go very well)

2. hot or cold where you live?

i legitimately wish i knew. it was so hot one week that i could feel a tangible temperature difference when i went from my upstairs floor to my downstairs floor, but a little while ago it snowed (and then melted because it became warm again). BUT we’ve had some mildly violent downpours of rain today, so i would say that it’s been a really weird in-between recently

3. is your room aesthetic worthy?

not particularly!! it’s fairly neat and tidy aside from some of my clothes that i always leave on my office chair out of a bad habit i should get rid of, but it’s not very interesting or pretty. none of my pillows (five of them) match and the lampshade on my lamp is pink, which is a color that is literally nowhere else in my room

4. apple or android?

i own an ipad + google pixel (which is an android smartphone), and i do use my ipad much more frequently (i’m using it to type this post actually dhgkfghkdfj) so it’s a bit of a hard decision but i do have to go with android honestly. apple really does not have very good camera quality at all compared to the pixel + there’s more customization options there. you can change the font + keyboard background + icon style and a bunch more things on pixel, it’s real neat

5. one thing you hate about tumblr’s new format (or tumblr in general)

i’m unfortunately a (kind of?) new user still so i have no clue what the old format looked like. also i know that this website has a reputation for being discourse hell so i’ve only really stayed within my little corner of it, which means that i don’t think i’ve been exposed to the true horrors of this place and therefore don’t have much to say. however i have to say that the functionality of the app is REALLY not very good. i’m currently writing this on safari because i can’t figure out how to put a cut on posts on the app :”)

6. if you were outcasted from society, where would you run and why? (it can’t be somewhere where anyone’s currently living)

oh boy. one of my worst aspects is the fact that i’ve grown up in a place where there’s usually a moderate amount of people (like y’know, just your average neighborhood), and anytime i go to a place which has way less people (like nature and rural areas) or way more (like very densely populated cities), i have such an unbelievable amount of discomfort and unease. however, in this case, i think i might choose to run away to the forest and restart life there because tbh cities make me more nervous than being out in the general wild. also, that means i can finally live life as the mysterious forest witch that i’ve always wanted to be!! (not the children-eating kind though, i barely have enough stomach room to eat actual human food)

7. ancient and very beautiful forest or a pale and cerulean sea shore?

all right i KNOW i just said that i would run off to the woods in my last answer but i’m going to have to go with the sea shore for this one. i don’t actually enjoy the act of swimming in the sea (or honestly in any body of Outside Water), but!! they make very nice noises so

8. if you could get up early enough, would you watch the sunrise or the sunset (and why)?

sunrise!! i’m sensitive and also a coward who despises anything having to do with endings, so i generally like things that pertain to beginnings more (yes, even when it comes to minor things like this). also, i’ve watched the sunrise one time when i was on vacation and it was a really great experience that i’d love to live again

9. most recent piece of fanfiction/piece of writing that you’ve been working on? or the most recent thing you’ve read that’s either a fic, article, or book

uhhhhhhhhh. i’m the DM for this really awful D&D campaign that some of my friends are playing, so i suppose that would be the most recent piece of writing that i’ve been working on!! (even though i’m a terrible DM and this whole thing has been mostly stagnant recently. i’m so sorry you guys)

10. worst and best thing about school during quarantine

i think the best thing is the fact that i have much more free time now!! i can re-organize my routine how i’d like because i’ve got plenty of wiggle room these days and i can also (usually) go at my own pace when it comes to assignments, which is significantly less stressful. the worst thing is the fact that i now have to communicate with my teachers primarily through e-mails which is significantly more stressful. hell is real and it’s when you have to interact with people professionally online

hello, i’m kosmo (she/her) and i’m v excited to be here hehehe! thank u for having me! ;; also i didn’t realise that both kosmo and tomo end the with the same letters & now i wanna d*e but oh well pls ignore that! (: anyw, i’m here introduce TOMO!! there’s probably some stuff i left out here but it ended up having a word count of almost 2.5k so i’m just going to stop myself while i’m ahead! i’ll finish off my stats & bio pages soon and then i’ll try to think up some plots but here’s all this for now!

BASIC STATS

NAME / tomo katsumura; his full name is tomohiko but nobody calls him that except his mum & grandparents like literally everybody else knows him as tomo NICKNAMES / technically, tomo IS a nickname but he’s so used it that not using a nickname with him is :knife emoji: -- also katsutomo but that one’s more of fan-title-nickname rather than one he actually uses (as much as he came up with it himself tweeting it out like ‘you guys can call me katsutomo from now on if you like ^^’ before changing all his handles to that exact name). other than that, he’s a bit iffy about nicknames. he likes them if HE came up with them but giving him a nickname is usually Yikes City (unless he decides it’s cute and lets u do it, i guess) AGE & DOB / twenty-three & 6th november 1995 BIRTHPLACE / LA, USA ETHNICITY / japanese OCCUPATION / actor! he dabbles in modelling but it’s more of an ‘i got asked to model this thing bc i’m famous and they’re paying me (:’ type deal than it being something he’s actually personally into. whereas acting is his PASSION.

EARLY LIFE

to start with, let’s talk about his parents; his dad, born and raised in america, was an actor who eventually made a move into directing but ultimately committed suicide at age 38 & his mother, born and raised in japan, is a socialite who had started off as a teen idol in the 80s. his parents had also divorced when tomo was still young, a few years before his dad’s death, so he uses his mother’s surname. tomo does not get on with her but, thanks to the sense of guilt she’s raised into him, he can’t bring himself to cut her out of his life completely.

basically, she’s got hang ups about the way her idol career ended so she kind of pushed tomo into the spotlight (which was fine for him because he wanted to act) but she grew envious of him after he got out of his teens and doesn’t like the decisions he makes. it’s a mutual issue. they mostly don’t get on because they can’t see eye to eye or really speak to each other at length without arguing.

his mum actually wanted him to break into acting when he was about nine because he’d already taken an interest in it by then. because her career had ended early, she took the approach of ‘he won’t be cute forever, what if we wait too long and he loses his chance?’ but his father, who had his own issues with the industry, strongly disagreed. this disagreement was one small contributing factor for their divorce; they had plenty of other issues as well but this didn’t help. their compromise was that tomo could wait until he was in his teens and this deal was mostly held up because tomo thought it was wrong to break a promise with a dead guy.

to be clear though, he’d probably have issues with his dad too if he were still alive (and he’s not exactly super fond of him as it is; he doesn’t hate him but he doesn’t like being asked about being his son). he was kind of a shit husband and, if it weren’t for the fact he didn’t see tomo as often as he’d like, he’d probably be a pretty distant father as well. his work was pretty much his main priority and he had a lot of personal issues that he took out on other people.

tomo grew up in LA for the most part but also spent a lot of time in japan, mostly jumping between osaka, where his mother’s family lived, and tokyo, where his mother’s friends and connections & his father’s extended family lived. the family stopped travelling quite as much after his father’s death and tomo’s reaching high school age. he grew up bilingual.

CAREER

he started acting professional when he was 16, mostly with a few smaller tv roles but he had good connections and was able to get a small but still substantial role in the film directed by a friend of his dad. his big break came at age 18 when he landed a leaded a role in the main cast of high school drama. it was exciting at first, being on tv and being famous, but he hated both the show and his character so the whole thing got tired fast. he wasn’t allowed to quick so he went out of his way to get himself fired. there’s a whole story behind that but i’ll leave that for the bio hehehe! (he wanted his character to get killed off bc he thought it’d be fun to act out but they wouldn’t let him do that ): boooo)

one of his biggest issues with the tv show was that he didn’t like being sold as a product / character that wasn’t anything like him. he hated being shown off as this squeaky clean teen heartthrob type and not being allowed to have his own emotions & tastes. he found it mentally exhausting and, since then, he’s had a lot of issues dealing with the contrast between how he is as a person and how he’s seen by the media. he tries not to admit it but he’s terrified of being swallowed up by what other people think of of him and losing track of himself in the process. it’s made him a little paranoid.

since then, he’s avoided tv as much as possible. he prefers working on films in general but he finds the idea of playing the same character for too long incredibly unappealing. he enjoys taking on new roles and absorbing himself in that character & sometimes to the point of bordering on obsession so playing the same role not only plays into his fears of people seeing him as someone he’s not (i.e; whatever character it is) but he’s also scared of seeing HIMSELF the wrong way. he needs the separation.

tomo likes working on indie films or more artistic/niche studio films most of all. the promotion cycle isn’t as intensive and the characters tend to appeal to him more. he has appeared in a few blockbuster-type films but mostly because his bosses have pushed him into it or he’s had to taken on a multiple film contract with a studio in order to land a role he really wanted. (he once got int trouble for calling his own character in a blockbuster a ‘dumb bitch’ on twitter)

the bratpack article had a pretty heavy impact on him. it kinda just spoke to all of his worst fears of not really being a Real Person or being Sold A Certain Way. he wanted to get away from it without having to actually stop working because it’s the one thing that really keeps him stable. his eventual means of escape was a role in a japanese film. he’s been living in japan since then, having moved there to specifically hunt out a film to work on, to get used to the japanese industry/prepare himself and then get to filming. he’s come to milan straight from tokyo, not having seen any of the other brats in person during that time, but he’s had time to relax. sort of.

PERSONALITY

for the most part, tomo’s a friendly and energetic guy! (living up to his name a lil bit here bc tomo can mean ‘friend’ in japanese hehehe) when he’s at his best, he’s great company. he likes to stand out in a crowd, has a winning smile and enjoys a little bit of attention but also knows when to step back and look out for other people. he likes to play as hard as he works. the trouble is that, when things aren’t going well and he’s distressed, he tends to collapse in on himself. behaviour that seemed playful before looks straight up stupid and reckless instead. he’ll avoid attention but get frustrated because he craves it and do more reckless shit for attention. yet he’s pretty good at pretending shit’s fine, he’s still weirdly positive for a guy who feels all messed up — maybe he gets away with it because he’s a good actor. tomo has good days and bad days but there’s little warning as to which is which. it wasn’t always this way; it’s like something has broken his spirit. (i copied this from my app but asdghgsdf)

that’s why his archetype is The Contradiction,,,bc he doesn’t make any fuckin sense, woooeee! he’s this very bouncy, upbeat person and he likes having fun but he’s not really a very positive person in terms of outlook. he’s too high energy! his general vibe is everything’s going to shit but i’m going to have a good time anyway :D

actually, on that note...he IS :D

he doesn’t like crying in front of people which is rough bc he’s v emotional all the time. he’s a total crybaby when he’s drunk. if you drink with him, there WILL be a point at which you have to scoop him up off the floor because he’s found something over which to start weeping. OR he’ll end up calling you to panic about how he can’t find his way home, only for him to realise like 5 minutes later he’s phoning you from the steps outside his apartment building.

the kind of guy who can have a full-on breakdown in his room by himself and then just reappear & ask u if u wanna go for ice cream or smth bc he’s bored. like ok that’s done with, that already happened. it’s over.

anyw he’s always willing to give ppl advice if they’re feeling stuck. it’s not always great advice bc he’s basically shit at dealing with stuff himself. he’s not one of these ppl who gives great advice but can’t follow it himself, he’s more...he gives advice bc he’d feel bad if he didn’t TRY so the advice itself definitely varies in quality. he means well though.

don’t watch funny films with him because he will do one of either things; 1) not find it funny and sit through the whole thing like : | or 2) he’ll find it so funny that he’ll end up on the floor at some point. there’s no in between. it’s all or nothing with this fucker.

he really likes cute shit. he’s rich so there’s nothing stopping him from buying those overpriced limited edition hello kitty goods.

let’s not talk about how he enjoys acting bc it’s an escape where he can be Somebody Else but he can’t cope with himself being promoted as something that doesn’t feel like Tomo. that’s its own mess. i’m p sure he’d just unravel if anybody said anything about it.

OTHER STUFF

his hair is currently bright red. it’s a recent change but he was like ‘uhhhh if i’m going on this trip, i’m making a visual statement’ and that was that. he likes to go for more interesting colours when he’s not filming anything because it’s the only time he really gets to. i mean, he still has dyed hair in a lot of his films but it’ll usually be brown or blonde or something else more ‘realistic’.

tomo cares a LOT about the way he dresses and styles himself. he’ll probably complain if he has to do a promo/magazine shoot and he doesn’t like the outfit he’s been given. it doesn’t actually help him half the time and he just gets told to shut up but it’s the PRINCIPLE of it !!!!!!!!

he posts on his finsta probably way too often but that’s because his public social media is pretty filtered, given that he’s caused fusses on social media before. there have been multiple cases of him having to delete tweets and instagram posts because somebody in charge decided he was pushing the limit just a little too much and, granted, most of it wouldn’t be seen as risky (bc it’s mostly utterly pointless stuff that gets flagged up as risky, e.g; ‘i need to pee and i can’t find a bathroom. death is coming for me.’) if he hadn’t publicly complained about the tv show that made him famous several times on twitter but he did do that so, y’know, he’s seen as a liability. the unfortunate outcome of this is that his finsta story is often littered with fairly inane thoughts.

he’s not very good at watching himself in films. it depends on the film and he can do it but uhhhh let’s just say he once watched the one horror film he was in at the cinema (and didn’t like most of it bc he’s a wuss about that sort of thing) but he laughed during his own death scene. there were tears in his eyes. real tears.

he doesn’t like dating because...well, he likes the IDEA of it but he’s the type to really fall for someone and BASICALLY? he’s scared of being dumped! he’s a bright & appealing personality with just enough edge to balance it out but he’s a bit of an emotional screwball and getting people interested is easier than keeping them interested, leading to mixed experiences with dating so he’s settled for sleeping around a little instead. oh well, whatever works! (does it actually work? shhhh it’s a secret...)

he’s very much involved in the party scene, whatever country he’s in. it’s not something he talks about much (privately, i mean, bc DUH he doesn’t say it publicly) but he doesn’t exactly avoid drugs in anyway (code for...yeah, he’s done stuff). it’s all casual, he says, but he still does it. he does smoke cigarettes though and he’s a little dependent on that.

also i guess he got involved in that kinda thing deliberately because he wants to distance himself from the clean-cut, shiny heartthrob pretty boy image as much as possible. eventually, it just became a natural way of de-stressing and dealing with the constant frustration of his career. the unfortunate consequence of that is that he’s now got a bit of a Bad Boy/Wild Child image and he’s not entirely sure he likes that either. (the shift in image also means that some journalists will talk about him as though he’s ‘gone off the rails’ and, yeah, he hates that as well)

The internet freaks me out, seeing you take a break from it all makes me wanna get away from it all. Would you recommend shutting off everything for a while to someone?

I would recommend it to everyone. Rant impending. The internet can be a great tool and is good for a lot of things. But if it's going to do any real good for any individual their use in my opinion has to be very purposeful and they themselves must be aware of the ways in which it can also hurt them. I don't think most people can really be aware of those ways until they've taken a long hard break and really internalized the differences of living with it vs without it. It's a tired line among people my age and younger but I really do feel as if I've grown up on the internet. We had a computer in the house with an internet connection since I was about 3 and I've been searching stuff on google for as long as I remember. I was constantly plugged into something from the time I was a baby. Addicted to video games my whole childhood. Addicted to the internet from adolescence until adulthood, really very recently. I learned most of what I know about music from the internet and discovered most of the music I loved as a kid on there too. The internet allowed me to educate myself at my own pace and learn about things I actually wanted to learn about without having to take the initiative to go to the library. I formed many meaningful relationships with people I have never even met. I would not be the person I am today without it and I would never say it's an outright bad thing but I think there are several glaring problems with such a powerful technology that tend to raise eyebrows when even just addressed.I feel like there's this clear throughline between I don't know-- the printing press, the radio, television, and finally distilled into the internet, social media, the smart phone. These are sources of knowledge and art that have proven endlessly useful to us but they are also categorically and obviously sources of entertainment. And in a culture that tells its constituents that there is no inherent meaning or greater good in the world other than to satisfy your base instincts, entertainment becomes an extremely cheap but nonetheless addictive drug.And if you've done drugs and been addicted to anything you know this. It's very clear. We all know what a dopamine hit feels like whether we call it that or not. When I download those apps and see all those notifications for me I can literally feel the dopamine flooding my brain, it's literally the same as pulling a slot machine lever and you know what? That feels good. But there is no meaning in it. And actually if you know how dopamine works it doesn't even feel good once you're addicted because your brain will release it not in response to the reward but in anticipation of it. You will crave dopamine and withdraw in a certain sense when you don't get it. This leads to all kinds of personal grudges and nasty shit and hatred. And really it's worse than just the slot machine allegory and it's worse than just the notifications because you're getting novelty with every swipe of your thumb. That's dopamine too. When Kanye said "Google dopamine" damn I felt that lmaoYou create your reality in every immeasurable moment. Narrative in general takes on a quality of being more real than real. Social media in particular becomes a problem because in addition to feeling more real than real life (whether you admit it or not, you automatically assign value to those numbers at the top of your profile) it is at its core a false representation of the (insert huge air quotes) """real world""". I'm dubious at the idea that anything can be known objectively. Reality must be perceived through structures developed over millions, arguably billions of years. Nature is a unity. Time is constructed. Meaning everything that has ever happened or will ever happen is, in the realest sense we can talk about, happening all at once. There is no good reason to hate anyone. Free will is both the realest thing we can perceive and objectively speaking nothing more than an illusion. I know I sound like a crazy person. But I was definitely more crazy on the drug of social media. And it is a capital D Drug. This isn't a Marxist critique or anything because I no longer claim to understand or like any of those ideas (not that baudrillard or postmodernism can be equated with Marxism...) but Baudrillard thought that just as humans raised by wolves become more like wolves themselves, humans raised by objects become more like objects themselves. Social media creates an environment where hatred and negativity is encouraged, where people feel as if they know things objectively, where digital interactions are supposedly as meaningful as physical ones. It creates an environment where the part of your brain that likes to sit and think about something really hard for 3 hours instead of 5 minutes, or 20 years instead of 3 weeks, just doesn't get nourished at all. In my opinion it is a primary cause behind the rise in suicide rates in teenagers in the past ten years. It is a primary cause for the political and ideological polarization and unrest we are experiencing. It is a primary cause for the rise of populist movements around the globe.I'm just spitting out thoughts and I'm well aware that I'm totally incoherent I'm overtired and not writing a damn essay here obviously. Podcasting Dungeons & Dragons: How “The Adventure Zone” is Reviving Oral Storytelling

Topic: Podcasts, oral storytelling, “The Adventure Zone”

When I was young and visited my grandma’s house, I always asked her to read me Go, Dog. Go! by Dr. Seuss before I went to sleep. This was a reasonable request when I was little, but when I began to grow older, regularly reading chapter books on my own, I would still ask my grandma to read me Go Dog. Go! at the end of the night. It was something about how she sat at the side of my bed, squishing me up against the wall, and said those words that had been repeated many times before. And I am not alone in my fond memories of repeated oral story. People love repeated stories, ones told over and over: myths, narratives, family tales. We love these stories not only for their themes and the multitudes of love they contain, but because oral storytelling is a deeply human instinct: in 1998, a professor at the University of Texas at Austin described that “oral tradition… becomes story as it is retold, resung.” So where do podcasts of the modern age factor in? Podcasts are a medium of oral storytelling, and I plan to explore that idea through exploring the podcast “The Adventure Zone.” “The Adventure Zone’s” specific medium of storytelling and its enjoyed popularity teaches lessons about methods and mediums of story, and how they impact storytelling.

To understand how a podcast can do that, it’s important to know what “The Adventure Zone” is. “The Adventure Zone” is a series of publicized recordings (or, a podcast) created and recorded by the McElroy brothers (Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy), podcast-artists and comedians, with their dad. In it, they participate in and play a Dungeons & Dragons campaign they call “Balance.” “The Adventure Zone: Balance” has 69 episodes, and seven story arcs, amounting to over 75 hours. During the podcasts, the players not only play Dungeons & Dragons and fight monsters, but also develop each of their characters, and Griffin, the Dungeon Master of the game (for those who aren’t intimately familiar with D&D: he crafts the story and moderates the game), creates a web of story and plot throughout the 75-hour runtime of the campaign. There’s no way to tell how many people listen to “The Adventure Zone Podcast,” because there are dozens of podcast-streaming websites and no publicly posted number of listeners or listens; however, in the past few years, the show has enjoyed a boost of popularity and a geniune “following” of listeners. But why? What compels people spend dozens of hours listening to four men play Dungeons & Dragons?

As I mentioned previously, podcasts are one of the newest and most explosive forms of oral storytelling. While not many of the younger generation watch news on the television (or watch television at all), almost all of them listen to public radio or podcasts through an app. As Nicholas Mirzoeff discusses in his piece “How to See the World,” the newly created “global network” has allowed us to “create, send and view images of all kinds, from photographs to video, comics, art, and animation.” Podcasting is an aspect of this new global network and may be counted as an image shared through it. Most people own technology that gives them access to podcasts through the internet, and consuming their shared images is easier now than ever.

Through the medium of podcast, there is a certain shared experience akin to the shared experience of intimate oral storytelling. It harkens back to the days of shared story through oral connections, over a fire with friends or a family story not recorded in a written format but passed along through generations. As Juliette de Maeyer recognizes in her article “Podcasting Is the New Talk-Radio,” podcasts “bring you to places you’ve never been… give you the impression of sharing an animated kitchen-table banter... with a couple of friends. In that regard, podcasts are a “sensational” medium.” In “The Adventure Zone,” during long monologues by Griffin, the Dungeon Master, there’s often background music that recalls the musical theme used before in the campaign or arc, while Griffin narrates a story with meaningful themes of death, family, love, loss and loneliness. Certainly, “The Adventure Zone” is a sensational medium when it uses repeated music to elicit an emotional response. Additionally, this concept relates to Thomas Turino’s idea of artistic connections in his piece “Why Art Matters,” when he claimed that “the connections expressed through art flow from and create a deeper sense and a different type of understanding.” By using the repeated artistic expression of music in the podcast, the creators tap into a deeper level of understanding of the listeners. Many podcast creators do.

What comes from this emotional response and formed connection is an imagined community by the podcast-listeners. In “How to See the World,” Mirzoeff discusses Benedict Anderson’s theory of imagined communities: that all communities are imagined, because people in it have not truly formed a connection with all of the other members. Anderson describes imagined communities of nations, which often result in patriotism, or imagined communities of readers of newspapers, who feel connections with the readers of the same newspaper. In that case, listeners to podcasts are certainly members of an imagined community, both with the podcast artists (those who record podcasts), in the case that they feel an intimate connection through the oral tradition of storytelling, and with the other fans, in “fandom.” Two fans of the same podcast who have never met can form bonds across boundaries of nation and language because they have an imagined community of being two people who both really, really like this podcast.

But let us rewind a bit, and understand more about the oral medium of storytelling. I want to talk about the oral medium in general and why it’s so persuasive now in 2019. It’s clear that the younger generation of people are less interested in big media the way previous generations have been -- big media meaning CNN, ABC, Fox News and CBS. Even big news outlets like The Atlantic and Washington Post and The NY Times enjoy less recognition and popularity from Millenials and Gen-Z readers. Most people in this age group do not watch the news but instead listen to NPR on their favorite podcasting platform, or any other podcast and talk-radio medium recordings. There is good reason for this. As a Maeyer describes “big news” in 2019, it’s often clouded with “hateful trolls, hysterical fake news outlets, a news agenda led by Russian hackers, and a never-ending spiral of conspiracy theories.” The oft-repeated mantra of “fake news” has led to the younger generation’s rejection of big news outlets with a lack of trust, and it could also explain the younger generation’s attraction to podcasting and oral storytelling as a way to strip the spread of information down to individual voices and intimately shared connections.

If I allowed myself a paragraph to nerd out about “The Adventure Zone” in my article about “The Adventure Zone,” it’d go a bit like this: That’s not to discredit the importance of the creativity and outstanding qualities of “The Adventure Zone.” For my argument, it’s just one example of a podcast, when there are thousands of podcasts in the world, that connects to its listeners through the format of oral storytelling. But this podcast is the real deal for an example of how revolutionary podcasting can be as a contributer to storytelling. What other form of storytelling requires its consumers to listen and pay attention for almost 100 hours -- and they do it, quite willingly? And it’s not a bore -- “The Adventure Zone” podcast is carefully organized into seven different arcs, all with unique characters, different settings, connected through a complicated non-chronological plot. It’s an intricately woven story with fully developed and realized characters and relationships between them: romantic relationships, friendships, fully-developed and realistic portrayals of family. And one of the reasons why I think its portrayal of these relationships is so popular is because it is created by a family. This podcast is created by three brothers and a dad. They know what sibling relationships look like. They know what familial loss looks like. And the result of it is something that is so rarely created: a collaboration between a family. And, when it comes down to it, it’s also just a really funny podcast.

Methods of communication and mediums of storytelling (or, more simply, the ways to tell a story) develop along with the rapidly changing world around us. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Podcasts are widely available to any person with an internet connection and a device to listen on. Creating friends and sharing connections with people who also love the same media is a beautiful thing, regardless of how empty the promise of an imagined community is. Also, one of the reasons I study humanities is because of its focus on humans and their stories. And from what I’ve seen, the shift from bigger, more corrupt and corporate-influenced outlets and big news to individual voices has simply resulted in more intimate storytelling, and a focus on stories from people.

5. Do you believe in aliens or ghosts? All of the. There has to be more in this world and there are evidence of both, so who knows?
