summary/synopsis idk: u and the cutie kunikuzushi r dating, u get bullied, he doesnt stand up for you, and things just escalate. (THIS IS MY FIRST FANFIC SRY FOR THE SHARTY DESC)

he didn't mean it.

he was abandoned, and all his life he's been a puppet, a wanderer, how would he know how to respond to you getting insulted?

He was scared. He wanted to stand up for you, he wanted to give those people a harsh tongue lashing, he wanted to beat them up, but he still stood there, rooted to the ground, unable to muster a single word. He didnt believe people were capable of being rude to you, much less insult you. You were neither ugly, nor were you unsuccessful. He had always found your paintings mesmerising and unique, all the strokes so smooth and perfect, not like what a puppet like him could do. But every time you would try to get your work on display somewhere, or when you tried to sell some at a convention, all your paintings would be left untouched. Your wish of making people around the world happy with your art would forever be forever just a pipe dream. When he saw your face, usually so bright and ever-smiling, turn so dull and unhappy in an instance, and deep down, he knew your reason for creating art was to make the world a happier place, he could only mutter out these words, as the guilt tore at his heart.

"im sorry, dear…"

12 days since he last saw your face.

he knew. he knew full well it was his fault, as your boyfriend to protect you, to keep you safe. He only realised once you started to cry, and then he realised, he couldn't comfort you. he didnt know how. and when he came to that realisation, that perhaps his puppet heart could not love you like you would want someone too. And the thought brought him to tears. Because he really did love you. But maybe it wasn't enough. And maybe you were worthy of someone better than a puppet.

Then you ran away. But of course, what did he expect, he saw you crying, and didnt know what to do. It hurt seeing you like that.

"Kunikuzushi…i always spend my precious time to comfort you, and now, all you can do is stand there while everyone treats me like laughingstock??!"

The moment you called him Kunikuzushi instead of "Kuni", he knew he had really messed up. You had never tried to distance yourself from him. Looking back now, he clenched his fist, as tears uncontrollably began to fall from his eyes. He really was incompetent. But he just found it incomprehensible that people could talk about you like that. why didn't you think the same way about yourself? He was so, so, so sorry. You had always comforted him when he cried, so now, why couldn't he do the same? but he remembered what you told him that night when you found him sobbing into his tear-stained mattress, because he had a night terror, about the Electro Archon, his mother, Ei, and that a useless puppet like him wasn't worthy of such a gentle and delicate human like you. But you never complained. You never shouted at him for being noisy or waking you up. Instead, your eyes glistened in the moonlight, and with your soft eyes and loving gaze, you assured him that no matter what happened in the past, you would still love him.

"Everyone deserves a second chance, and so do you!"

He didn't believe it at the time, and he still could not bring himself to. A fragile puppet, who was abandoned by his own creator, his own mother…her words still echoed in his mind.

"You will have no relevance in my plan for eternity. You are merely a puppet, there is no need for you to retain you in my realm of consciousness. The Raiden Shogun is sufficient."

Those words were like gunshots to his heart. His own mother. The person whom he trusted at that time, had abandoned him. The Raiden Shogun was sufficient? And he was not? What sin did he commit to be born not even as a human, but a puppet, and still get rejected? Was his purpose for being created not to aid in her plan for pursuing an everlasting eternity? Why didn't she show any affection towards him? Was her realm of consciousness really no place for a puppet? He pondered, not able to acknowledge the truth, that he was now a wandering puppet with no real purpose in life. A puppet filled with rage, loneliness, fear of betrayal, and the throbbing pain in his heart. But that being said, it meant that even if he was a puppet, he still had a human heart, right? And Niwa said so too. But what if he was tricking him too? What if it wasn't genuine, what if it was all a facade, like what happened with Ei? She had left him on the dirty, muddy ground without a word. Even if the Plane of Euthymia was cold and lonely, at least his creator was there. At least he had a place to belong. But now what? was now a wanderer. He tried hard. He really, painstakingly, tried to rise up to Ei's standards, but to no avail. He was merely a puppet. He was both sufficient. He was of no use in her plan for an eternal Inazuma. A wandering, lost puppet was what he was. He was simply, plainly, utterly useless.

…Even if that was true, your words…he so desperately wanted to believe them, lie or not. He didn't want to recall those days of suffering, the mental anguish, and the fear residing in his chest when he recalled the events of that horrid night. Everyone deserves a second chance…if it was really true, then he was going to make it up to you, this was his last chance,this fleeting opportunity, and he wasn't going to let it slip away. He was determined to make you smile again, that sweet, loving smile that he longed to see again. The smile he missed so much, he couldn't go to bed without thinking of it. Without thinking of how to put that smile back on your face. In fact, he couldn't even get a wink of sleep without you lying next to him. And your laughter, the way your cheek starts to flush and heat up when he caresses it, he misses it all. It was you that he missed.

So how would he make it up to you? Write a letter, of course. It was the only thing that the puppet was even slightly proficient at. So he took a brush, some black ink, and a piece of paper and started to write…

"Im sorry for not standing up for you."

Too straightforward.

"Im sorry i was incompetent. I dont deserve to be forgiven."

Okay, but too self-destructive. And you never like to see him like that.

"Please forgive me. I was just shocked, i know it was my duty to protect you, but in the end, its always the other way round. and if i could just go back in time, i would have never let those jerks talk like that about you, because your tears are just like needles piercing my heart. but the past is the past, and i'm sorry. Your paintings are simply beautiful, i found it mind boggling how they could say things like that to your face. I know how you feel, and i want you to know that i truly care for you, and that this was all a misunderstanding. This was all my fault…if you are free, could we go out for dinner tonight? I'd like to properly apologise. And, i love you, dont forget that."

A little cheesy, but cute. (Added bonus, he stuck a scarameow sticker on it!!)

And now, you're sure to forgive him…how can you stay mad at him after such a heartfelt apology?

Re-ordering (highest to lowest) the bounties in the strawhat crew because Oda is either way too bias or has the memory of a goldfish. (I'm rating them if I was a marine in canon) (updated I didn't mean to miss anyone I'm so sorry)

1. Luffy

for obvious reasons: he's the captain, strongest, etc.

2. Nico Robin

i cannot stress this enough. NICO ROBIN IS SECOND!

She is the only person left alive that can read the ponegliphs, therefore the only one who can get ANYONE to Laugh tale. She had been chased by the government since she was eight. She's not only one of the smartest people not only on the crew, but dare I say on the Grand Line, but she's also one of the strongest. (like idk how people keep forgetting this, did we not watch Wano???) She's been an assassin and the right hand man of one of the seven warlords for years. I'd even say she was kind of his body guard tbh...

3. Franky

I'm putting Franky so high up because of a couple of factors. The obvious ones: He is physically strong, also extremely smart (as he was an apprentice to a man so feared by the marines they looked for any excuse to execute him, whether because of his social standing or skills) He has lasers(one of the strongest, if not THE strongest weapons in their universe) designed by Vega Punk himself. But most importantly: he memorized the blue prints of a weapon important enough for the world government to try and assassinate as many people as they need to get their hands on. He can build it at any point and there's no other copy of it.

4. Zoro and Sanji (same bounty)

I'm putting them above the rest mainly because I still respect Oda's decision to put them higher up. Physical strength aside, each of them, in my opinion, has a good reason to be deemed as dangerous. Logically, one would put the Captain's right-hand man above the other, but Sanji's "Vinsmoke" status, much as he hates it, boosts him up. He may not have grown up with them or have the same mutations or "upgrades", but the people don't know that. Fear wins half the battle.

5. Jinbei and Brook

By very little below №4, if they're not the same, they are very close (but IDK which one is above the other.) What would be scariest to me if I was the world government's shoes, would be influenced and propaganda, and these two are extremely influential figures and loved by many.

But let's start with Jinbei: He's an ex-warlord. He is lobed by man, if not all of Fiahman island. He's highly respected and feared. The waters are his domain, plus he's physically very strong.

Brook: a master swordsman and a man who can control people with music?!?! I feel like we keep forgetting that. He also spent the time skip become an infamous rockstar, who's fans FOUGHT THE NAVIE so they could listen to him! Influence-wise, Brook takes the cake.

6. Usopp

With half-a-mind to put him in the №5 bundle, I'm putting him a bit lower for one reason only: not everyone would know or believe what happened in Dresrossa. Undoubtedly, he had created a cult-like following there and he can spin a tale to his advantage, and technically being pronounced a "God" would make it... a cult... But that would lose brownie points in the major public's eyes. Even though his skills are admirable, he's not as strong or wildly influential as Jinbei (a literal warlord) and Brook (the Michael Jackson of op)

7. Nami

Navigator, they can't go far or fast without her. She has had a record with the navie before as a petty thief, but other than her charms and wits, there's no reason for them to put her higher...

8. Chopper

The Navie does not care for Chopper. I don't think they'd put him anywhere above the last spot in any universe... sorry.

Idk if you're gonna see this, but a what if just popped into my head, and I needed to tell you it.

So you know the viral vid from Girl Humming and harmonising with her fan, this one:

This, to me, sounds like what bug's "mom"(sorry can't remember her name) would've hummed to bug when she would hummed this to bug one last time when she knew she couldn't protect any further from bug's father.

And what if WHAT IF she taught yunho how to hum this to bug so even when she's gone, there would still be at least a sense of security she would give to bug when yunho would hum it to bug when she would sleep.

And what if yunho also hummed this to bug when she had a fever, like picture how painfully beautiful that sight would be, yunho humming it to bug to make her feel safe while keeping her safe when he himself was far from it.

And when yunho was exiled and separated from bug, he clung to that hum like a life worried that he would forget it. And when he was in the ateez camp, he hum it every single night to the moon, hoping somehow it would reach bug and give her at least a sense of security even when he was far. Then seonghwa heard him and asked what song he was he was humming and asked if he could teach him it, and yunho only told that an old friend taught him to hum sparring all the details to keep the meaning just between him, bug's mom and bug

THEN BOOM seonghwa used the hum to soothe the other members when they had their episodes or nightmares.

And when him, bug and wooyoung got attacked in the forest in chap 6, when he hummed to her when she had her episode IT WAS THE SAME HUM THAT BUG'S MOM WOULD HUM TO HER that's why she slowly and slightly felt at ease when he heard him hum.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH THE MORE I PICTURE IT IN MY HEAD THE PAINFULLY BEAUTIFUL IT IS TO ME LIKE JUST THE MOTHER AND DAUGHTER PARALLEL WOULD HAPPEN THERE?!?! OH IT HURTS

The To Gaze Upon a Wicked God situation is more complicated than a straightforward "yes/no" on whether it's a colonizer romance or not imo.

I think the author wants to send an anti colonial message with the book, but it very much wants to have the cake and eat it too. It's written a lot like other "dark romantasy" and the marketing surrounding it went hard on the enemies to lovers thing (the Zutara comparisons especially was still being pushed even in late April). Iirc, the real love interest only appears for less than five scenes?

With that in mind, I don't think it's unreasonable to read the protagonist's rejection of the prince at the end as a set-up to a tortured "I love him but I can't trust him anymore because he's evil and lied to me" while Baihu simped for her in the background and the prince gets redeemed with a heroic act at the end of the second book or something. That was my impression until it was revealed that the childhood friend was the real love interest.

(Maybe I just read too many angsty "you killed my whole clan but I still love you even though I'm not supposed to" cnovels in my youth hahaha)

Imo, it was in really bad taste to do a fake out marketing, but idk if she has control over that. It feels like nobody around her understood how touchy the subject and her inspirations were, because none of these irl decisions wouldn't have happened if they did. I don't think the original anon had the right to comment like they understood everything without reading the book, but I completely get the feeling of "wtf girl you did not just write/say that." Also the writing was... not good.

I hope the "baihu cut" remedies a lot of its issues. Plenty of white authors write shit takes on history. Asian authors shouldn't be burned at the stake when they do the same

(Followup to last anon about to gaze upon wicked gods) One thing I forgot is that the author's notes directly mentioned the Japanese occupation and unit 731. I think it's reasonable for readers to make the connection between that and the Roman invasion + human experimentation mentioned in the book. I can't blame them from being grossed out or even outraged when everything irl points to Antony being the intended love interest even though he's the leader of in universe unit 731

I can well believe that it's mostly a skill issue.

People should be free to criticize a book for what's actually in there, but yeah, there's definitely this vibe like nonwhite authors or minority authors or whomever aren't allowed to just... not be very good.

I don't mean they should be free from all criticism, but there's a particular type of extra torches-and-pitchforks criticism that amounts to "Thou shalt be a godlike writer from birth or else!"

speaking my truth on npmd because im thinking about this alot. i think the reason it falls flatter than tgwdlm and bf as a musical is that tgwdlm and bf have a running theme — want.

(whole thing undercut)

the cast of tgwdlm want human connection - charlotte wants sam to love her, bill wants alice to love him, mr davidson wants his wife to choke him while he jerks off etc etc, and eventually paul goes from 'i want what anyone wants, money, kids, a partner maybe idk' to - to put it simply - wanting emma (putting it very simply, if i went into detail this post would go off the rails). this switch is what makes him vulnerable to the hive and this want to live and to survive and to be happy with emma is satiated by pokey by giving him the connection he craves via hivemind, this is how it works for everyone. they want to be happy, pokey makes them happy by removing any need to want anything in the first place.

similarly, in bf, the adults of hatchetfield are still miserable and they want to be happy, they have this void within them that they feel they need to fill with products and consumerism. if they buy this stupid fucking doll their kids will love them, they will be happy, etc etc. and this want to be happy is similarly satiated by wiggly via the cult - they have something to worship, or - in lindas case - people who worship them. they have purpose, or at least they think they do, but whether their problems have actually been solved or not - they are still content.

but in npmd, this is less solid. theres that bit where they have to sacrifice what they want the most, but this is near the end. its kind of all over the place, and this wobbliness(?) is sort of just emphasised by the fact that there is no specific lord in black, its all of them. now i loved the summoning when i first watched it because im obviously a huge hatchetfield fan so i like. know who these characters are but as ive seen others say, alot of npmd does rely on knowing hatchetfield lore - understanding injokes. and in hindsight it just... isnt great for the cohesion of the plot.

tgwdlm and bf both have specific themes, specific lords in black, they have subplots but they have a solid throughline that is easier to follow. to me, npmd feels like its all over the place and it just feels kind of...mid for lack of a better word.

i think there were some moments that were just kind jarring? i guess? like if i loved you coming directly after ruths death was really strange, tonally. i wish they spent more time on ruths death tbh she deserved better. richie got two songs and an opening scene. anyways i digress- i feel like whenever i think about it im always like. i just wanted More. which is weird cuz its already like 2 hours long but idk. IDK!!! if i loved definitely felt unnecessary to me- like just conflict out of nowhere. i would have liked more build up to it. maybe im just salty that it took up stagetime that could have been used to grieve ruth but. sorry for the random if i loved you slander i think my point here is that some moments and some subplots felt more tropey, injokey or like fanservice??but not in a sexual way?? - is that the right word to use idk - than actual compelling plot moments. tgwdlm is an incredible work of theatre and uses subversions of tropes to communicate a great story, bf is a detailed criticism of american consumerism and how capitalistic societies force people to rely on products to make their lives better, npmd is. high school drama with ghosts. it just doesnt hit as hard on its own.

i dont want to be one of those "im a better writer, and THIS is how i would have done it!!!! im going to fix this!!!" people so im not going to do that but i think something i would have liked to see was focus on just one lord in black, probably nibbly because i feel like he fits the most and has the least preexisting story. i mean for gods sake, why does wiggly have the most speech time out of all the lords in black again!!! he already has an entire musical about him!!! greedy bitch- well i guess thats kind of his thing. i think i just want to see more of nibbly tbh, he has one nmt story and he only shows up at the very end. anyways that was kind of a side rant sorry gang. there isnt a problem with having a story featuring all the lords in black, but i think it just doesnt quite work in npmd for like structural reasons as well as plot cohesion.

i did enjoy npmd, im not pretending i didnt, but narratively it is the weakest hatchetfield musical and i just wanted to put my finger on what it is specifically. please dont take this as like hate or slander, i am a huge starkid fan, but i think it is important to consume media critically.

also i am not a professional i am a teenage drama and english lit student who likes media analysis and narrative design so just. take everything i say with a grain of salt :)

have some silly skk wedding hcs bc. idk i just wanted to yell w someone abt them

chuuya cries in sporadic bursts the day of but taken altogether it's like 3 hrs of hysterical sobbing

dazai doesn't cry at all because he slips into like a shocked fugue state the second he sees chuuya but he DOES bawl like a baby the next morning

nobody who attended remembers past like hour 4 of the wedding and six months later they're still uncovering some of the wild shit they did during the afterparty. this is because the wedding staff accidentally became part of the celebration and the photographer, who was supposed to record the whole thing, ended up sleeping with one of the cast. it was kunikida.

just to be obnoxious ranpo proposes to poe and chuuya has to be held back by a crying w laughter dazai from Physically Attacking Him

dazai insists on having a bouquet to throw, which he purposefully angles for akutagawa to catch. atsushi faints, lucy's face progresses from angry -> considering in real time (they r a throuple real)

chuuya picks his best man/maid of honor fairly easily (hirotsu and kouyou duh) but dazai basically told the ada to figure it out amongst themselves and come back to him with their decisions (he's lazy/genuinely didn't know who to pick and wanted to outsource) and there was Actual Violence

lots of drama over whether or not to invite mori and verlaine. turns out to be a nonissue bc all verlaine does is cry in a corner about a) rimbaud and b) holy shit my little brother is getting married and after hour 6 mori and fukuzawa disappear from the event (neither they nor anyone else remembers this. very lucky)

ango receives an invitation with no context and has like 3 mental breakdowns about what this means for his and dazai's relationship

7 hours in (it was a long party) kenji's cow somehow shows up (he swears up and down it wasn't him, everyone's very confused the next morning)

it was a sunset wedding, dazai wore white and chuuya wore blue

adam and shirase and some other members of the sheep are there. adam makes fast friends with kyouka, meanwhile the former sheep are very narrowly spared dazai's wrath, mostly bc he keeps forgetting they're even there. it's a big wedding

tachihara tried to drunkenly breakdance, gin laughed so hard she thought she got heart palpitations and was afraid for her life. she went to look for mori and walked in on him and fukuzawa. none of them remember this but now gin feels a vague sense of horror every time she looks at her boss and she's not really sure why

yosano tries rizzing kouyou up and fails by any normal metric (yosano: please please please please please please please please please please) but kouyou is Tipsy and Charmed

dazai does indeed burn the marriage certificate (TRY RETURNING ME WITHOUT A RECEIPT, CHIBI!!). chuuya is so in love he starts crying again

higuchi and tanizaki had philosophical discussions about life on the rooftop and accidentally solved the secrets of the universe. they do not remember this

kunikida returns from his steamy rendezvous with the photographer and immediately sets his sights on ango. drunk kunikida knows what he wants (twinkish men) and when he wants them (now). there is a reason one of the most important ideals in his notebook is to Not Drink

the guild is there and are generally having a good time until fitzgerald sees tsujimura (only there as ango's plus-one, got abandoned bc of drunk kunikida's machinations) and calls her a blue-haired liberal, and hey, what's a party without a brawl in the middle of the dance floor

between the guild and the wedding staff half the people at the party weren't even invited. which is why the doa and hunting dogs are also there

kenji, kyouka, q, elise, and aya are having a Kids' Party in a separate room with adam as an extremely enthusiastic babysitter (well, more like occasional check-in-er, he's swinging back and forth between the parties). tecchou joins them after a while and has a great time, as all except aya are extremely fascinated by his unholy food combinations

bram and lovecraft kickstart their enemies-to-lovers arc the second they set eyes on each other

fyodor, dazai, kajii, and nikolai start up a game of Knife Monopoly, to everyone's surprise the extremely determined caterer sweeps them all. sigma is smitten at once and immediately starts to flirt with her (the caterer is a milf who is seduced by sigma's transgender rizz, sigma will eventually have an entire 'convincing the stepkids' family movie arc)

teruko FUCKS IT UP on the dance floor, haruno is so impressed she immediately falls into her first disastrous sapphic crush

hirotsu and natsume mutually agree to restart their homoerotic situationship without ever even actually saying two words to each other, someone has to take skk's place now that they've more or less gotten their shit together

katai wasn't there physically but was supervising through security cameras. he's the only one who will ever know everything that happened that night and deleted the footage due to trauma :( sorry katai

tsujimura and mushitarou bond over how desperately they Do Not Want To Be There

skk Try to have a romantic wedding night(/morning, given how long the afterparty stretched) but they are both too drunk, chuuya trips and falls flat on his face and dazai laughs so hard he throws up

I know how some people who follow me feel about Tommy and Buck/Tommy, but certainly not everyone.

To keep it simple, yes I want Buddie endgame. I always have, though I've known it's never been a guarantee. Character wise and narrative wise, Buddie makes the most sense and will be the most satisfying of outcomes. Anything less will be a disappointment.

For now, I am enjoying Buck/Tommy while it lasts. Tommy is a good guy, and I think he's good for Buck, even if he's not here for long. And even though it's early game, no I don't suddenly think they should be endgame. They shouldn't. As I said, anything less than Buddie endgame would be a disappointment, and frankly a disservice to Eddie and Buck as characters. They're perfect for each other, no question.

(I really doubt anyone has actually "jumped" the Buddie ship. People, like me, are just enjoying Buck have a good queer time with a good queer man while we have it.)

I just think Tallulah gets to be upset about this. “It’s not Wilbur’s fault” “He’s not a bad dad” “He loves his daughter so much” yes! These are all true! And it’s not his fault! But he’s still not there. And Tallulah has gone through so much and still hasn’t seen him, the one time he was around was the one time she wasn’t, and all she has are letters and “I’m thinking of you always” and things that used to be theirs together, but he’s still not there. She’s waited and she’s been patient and she’s loved him all the same, and he’s still not there. Like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, from the happy milestones to the traumatic events, he’s still not there.

She knows that it’s not his fault, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s absent. That in and of itself just adds to the sorrow, because she knows why he’s gone, and she’s been told time and time again it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care, she knows this - it doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting, that it doesn’t hurt, that she doesn’t yearn for her father to be there more than anything in the world, and he’s just not there.

So yes, she gets to be upset, and be caustic, and stomp her feet and write bitter messages, and be angry and vitriolic, because she’s a little girl missing her father, who feels things with her whole heart and soul - and that means she gets to feel the ugly parts of it, too.

i find it damn near impossible to get mad at santana’s behavior in 3x06 and 3x07 because i genuinely do think she had the right to be lashing out at everybody. sue me idk
