Thinking about early relationship Soukoku again

About Dazai being reluctant to change anything about their dynamic. Everything in his life is so different to what it used to be, he's different. But him and Chuuya, their partnership? That's constant. He's afraid of it changing, afraid it will break somehow, that he'll mess things up and loose Chuuya for good.

So despite being a romantic at heart, he fights that change. He tries to keep things as much the same as they've always been before the relationship. He thinks it's the safest way to maintain it. Even after getting together, he still tries to hold some distance from Chuuya because he's afraid what will happen when he doesn't.

What he doesn't know is Chuuya secret craves the mundane coupley stuff that comes with relationships. His whole life has been one messed up event to the next. A relationship, going on dates, getting dumb matching sets, flowers, remembering anniversaries, that's a whole world of tenderness and care Chuuya's never had.

But he doesn't know how to go about it. Chuuya definitely doesn't know how to ask for it. So his attempts to engage in the romantic stuff are clumsy and forced.

Dazai seeing this, misunderstands, letting his own fears cloud his judgments. He thinks it's forced because its not something Chuuya wants, but that he feels he has to do. He sees this as their partnership changing, he thinks Chuuya is uncomfortable. (And Chuuya is, a little, from being out his comfort zone, but not in the way Dazai's thinking)

Its awkward and tensions keep building, because despite getting together, they are still terrible at just telling each other what they want.

Until it all implodes on them. They probably get into an argument over something really silly like matching mugs and half way through they realise how ridiculous they're being. Finally, they talk it out, which is still one hell of an embarrassing conversation, but they struggle through it. Because that's what you do when you're adults who care about each other, you talk.

And then, once Dazai has basically gotten permission to be the very embarrassing romantic he is, he doesn't hold back anymore. Something Chuuya almost definitely wasn't prepared for, but doesn't regret. (Even if he sometimes lies and says he does)

Watching Charles closely I came to believe that he might have abandonment issues (for obvious reasons), so yeah, I guess he hasn’t been taking Carlos’ departure from the team very well… Of course Carlos isn’t actively abandoning him, but anyways

Ohmygod, anon. You're absolutely right. I mean, it's a logical response to his past trauma, too. I'm not presuming to know the guy, but from what I can see, I just feel like he's really going through the trenches right now. I'm not going to say that they're extremely close, but, just from what we've been able to see about their relationship and the way they talk about each other, I'm ready to assume that they really seem to be close, especially now that we can see Charles visibly reacting to Carlos' departure from the team. I'm pretty sure there's not an ounce of bad blood between them, especially since they've been seeming so much closer ever since before Vegas. I feel like their friendship had time to develop towards the end of their third year together (trauma bonding and all things provided by a very rocky Ferrari car that put them both in uncomfortable situations that only both of them could understand) and so, now that that was blooming, to have it taken from them must be tough. Carlos has been brought up to be much less emotional about his relationships in the paddock, based on interviews alone, yet I think he's been saving up some emotion for their alone time. Charles, though... he seems to be that guy who wears his heart on his sleeve sometimes, and when it comes to this, he doesn't seem too shy to let people know that he really does like Carlos as a teammate and as a person. I mean, they have so much in common, everyone's said it, Mattia, Fred, constantly talking about their competitiveness and how close they'd become when they started to make everything a race... and they probably know each other well. They've shared small spaces, probably had important conversations with one another, they're both in a position where nobody else would get it, except for the other. And they've never, EVER shown disrespect towards each other. So, yeah. Carlos might not be abandoning Charles, but they're both in rather similar situations, and to bring Lewis into the mix, Lewis, with the bigger salary, with the seven titles, with the past experience... it should be something that makes Charles take pause and probably appreciate what he has right now with a guy who's basically in the same level as himself in terms of... I don't know, I guess gravitas. Lewis has so much, and Charles has the whole team behind him, and yet he turns to Carlos as a friend? Maybe we're not seeing how much of an equal footing they have between each other. They've probably discussed even this between them and Charles must be feeling so comfortable with Carlos by his side... This whole thing rocks his whole world, and I would love Carlos' security just as much as Charles is probably appreciating it right now. Sorry, I got totally off the rails with this, but the point is: what this shows me is that Charles really does care, deeply, about Carlos. And it's a wonder to see, honestly. If I were to be completely honest, I saw their relationship much more unilaterally. I felt like Carlos liked Charles more than he liked Carlos. But right now? Wow. I really do see how much Charles seems to appreciate Carlos' company and friendship as a teammate. And it's an absolute relief to me. The fact that he started the year defending Carlos from the italian press and insisting, on record, that they should focus on the fact that they have a whole year together out of "RESPECT FOR CARLOS"? Wow, Charles. You had my eye, before, but right now, you finally caught my attention. Thank you for sending me this ask, anon! how does Kate find out that Anthony was bothered about her possibly leaving BFR in the documentary? (also, do they watch the show together??)

Kate and Anthony actually do watch the new season of the Netflix doco.

Kate didn't give any interviews this season but Anthony did and Kate's a little curious, honestly.

"I'm not going to watch it with you." Anthony chuckled, nuzzling her neck gently as they lay together on the sofa, their legs intertwined. "I know you're obsessed with me, but watching me on the screen is a bit much. Especially when there're so many more interesting things I'd be willing to do for you."

Kate narrowed her eyes, "What don't you want me to see?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." Anthony scoffed taking out his moustache comb and combing his moustache with one eye open, watching its effect on her.

Kate wavered for a moment, "Don't use that moustache to distract me. You know I can't resist it."

"How dare you accuse me of such underhanded tactics." Anthony looked offended, "But now that you mention it, my poor little moustache is perhaps a little lonely and cold and maybe you could warm him up for me."

"We're watching it." Kate sighed, "And then, based on what you say about me, I'll decide if he deserves it."

"You look cute." Kate hummed, as Anthony's face appeared on the screen grinning in the dark set.

"I'm Anthony Bridgerton and I drive for Bridgerton Family Racing. We're back for season 2, baby!"

And she watches it unfold, with Anthony's voice over, with Edmund's.

"We've got a new chief engineer this year, Kate, and we're super excited to have her on board." Edmund paused, "Well, Anthony's ... adjusting. It's sort of hilarious to watch his flustered little face."

There were dozens of shots of them, Interspersed throughout, Kate and Anthony bickering in the paddock, Anthony lifting her up in excitement, her grinning and trying to hide it as he flipped off the nose of his car.

"Um yeah," Anthony said in his interview, blushing a little furiously. "Kate and I had a rocky start but um... yeah. We've found a rhythm, I really like her."

"And the rumours about you and her?" The producer asked off screen and Anthony's ears went bright red.

"Cute." Kate nodded, kissing his forehead. "You're really cute."

The Anthony on the screen cleared his throat, "There's... we're not in a relationship."

"Do you want to be?"

Anthony's face screwed up clearly embarrassed, "Um yeah, I'd love if we were in a relationship. You're going to cut this right?"

Kate watched as the tone changed and the fluttering in her chest stopped.

"And how do you feel about the fact she might leave BFR?"

Anthony's face fell, "I um... yeah I don't... I don't really want her to leave. But Kate's her own person and she has to do what's best for her and her career. I'll be happy for her, if wat's best for her isn't at BFR. I just... I want her to be happy."

Kate paused it, sitting up and tugging Anthony with her. He was blushing a little, avoiding her eyes but his arm was still wrapped around her waist.

"Is this what you were trying to hide?"

Anthony shrugged, "Honestly, I thought they'd cut it."

"And you were worried I'd find out that you were a huge, supportive sweetheart who only wanted the best for me?" Kate chuckled, nudging his cheek with her nose.

"I... well... you already know that now!" Anthony said defensively. "And I was actually worried you were going to find out that I am the one who broke your headset."

"Oh I knew it!"

"I was on my scooter and I just accidentally knocked it off."

"You are a grown man with a razor scooter!"

"You think I'm cute!"

"I actually do." Kate sighed, "And what d'you know, poor little moustache is looking a little lonely."

And the very next year Kate sits down and watches herself on the screen.

"First one of these, little nervous."

"You're doing great," The producer said, "Just tell us your name and what you do."

Kate cleared her throat, "I'm Kate Sharma, I'm the principal engineer for Bridgerton Family Racing and I run race day for Anthony."

"And who is Anthony Bridgerton?"

"He is the current world formula one world champion." She let a smile spread over her face, "Oh, and he's my husband."

"Congratulations." The producer said and the crew clapped.

"Yes, we got married in Monaco in May." Kat watched herself smile, "Super happy, he's very sweet and... you guys saw how obsessed he was last season. So I'm ready to show that this is an equal-obsession marriage."

"What's your favourite thing about Anthony?"

Kate paused for a second before she sighed, "He's going to make fun of me because I made fun of him: But ladies, date a moustache boy."

Thank you for the ask! This is a good way to keep me from prematurely hitting post on all the stuff I'm sitting on for the event week. ;)

6: What was their relationship like during Fingon's reign as High King, before the Nirnaeth Arnoediad?

Let's say loving but increasingly exasperated. ;)

Maedhros fully accepts Fingon as High King and is grateful not to have been thrust into that role again himself, but it's a challenge to bring some of his brothers around to that perspective -- they'd like to use the "eldest of Finwe's line" argument again to bring the crown home, as it were. The Feanorian East seems to be holding itself apart from the rest of Fingon's realm, which doesn't look or feel good. Curufin and Celegorm, in particular, are up to trouble wherever they go, and the Nargothrond and Luthien debacle strains the Fingon-Maedhros relationship when Maedhros does little to address Finrod's death (he was a friend, and a cousin, and an important ally, and Fingon doesn't think Maedhros takes that betrayal and loss seriously enough).

They're both nostalgic for days when they could have their romance without the power differential, so there are some passionate visits that start well and then get rocky when the issue of the unruly younger brothers inevitably comes up. One underlying motivation for the Union is Maedhros' desire to visibly submit to Fingon's rule and atone for all the Feanorian faults -- he's imagining that victory as the Big Thing that will allow them to move on. But we all know how that goes -- all that they begin well will end in disaster, etc., etc. I've written the Nirnaeth as coming at a moment of joy and hope and strengthened affection, and as coming at a very low point in their relationship, and both are interesting to explore.

I do genuinely think making Frankie intentionally autistic would be a natural evolution in understanding their character. Like a realization that the traits are core to their character beyond just them being new to living, things that would stick around much longer than them just getting used to existence. An understanding from the writers that if their character can so easily "unintentionally come off as autistic," perhaps the core of that character inherently aligns with and strikes a chord with that experience.

Snippets from the leak (and very long analysis) below.

They have the ingredients, if only they take the opportunity to embrace it.

There's potential for a similar evolution with Lagoona.

We've already seen in the show that Lagoona has idealized, fairy tale (scary tale) ideas about love, and specific archetypes in mind. If her arc is about learning real relationships, including romantic ones, aren't like the ones in fairy tales and telenovelas, you could organically take that in the direction of her first major romantic relationship not working out because it was built on these idealized notions. Especially considering our first time seeing Gil in the show is as the dream guy in Lagoona's story, you could create an arc around her idealizing him, falling in love with him, but then realizing the relationship doesn't click as well or easily as she thought it would (not necessarily from anything bad between them). She could start to recognize love in different shapes than she'd expected, in different places than she'd usually look, and surprise herself with what she finds.

There's no reason Lagoona needs to be straight, or otherwise. But within her arc, there's an opportunity to go beyond her learning about real relationships and romance, to explore a character discovering their orientation. It'd also draw a more distinct parallel to her growth from her initial false friendship with Toralei—based on dependency, uneven dynamics, and abstract ideas of what it means to be friends—to finding real friendship with Draculaura and co—based on mutual trust and acceptance.

Again, I don't think they'd need to paint Gil in a bad light for a potential romantic relationship between him and Lagoona to not work. In fact it'd be better and more meaningful if they didn't, both within the context of the arc itself being about Lagoona's self-discovery, and the context of their rocky relationship in g1.

Of note, Gil's only mention in the version of bible that got leaked is in relation to Lagoona.

Given the g3 show's current track record, it's undeniable his character will get expanded on beyond a relationship to Lagoona. And that none of that shows up in the leaked version of the bible is one of the (many!) things that points to it being a document in ongoing development (I could honestly make a whole other post about the characterizations that don't align with the final show).

On that note and as a final point, same as with Gil, Howleen's only mention in the leaked bible is in relation to Clawdeen.

Here, there's an idea of Howleen being a yet-unknown relative to Clawdeen, not very expanded upon. However, Howleen being a yet-unknown younger sister to Clawdeen, in addition to maintaining the relationship they had in g1, also makes a more compelling story than Howleen being a younger cousin of various relation. The main issue is figuring out how that fits with the timeline of their mother getting stuck on Beheme. It's probable making Howleen a younger cousin was an idea considered mainly because it avoids that issue entirely.

That being said, there's enough timeywimey shenanigans surrounding Beheme, and open-endedness around Selena Wolf's disappearance, that they could've still worked something else out.

But there's also potential to explore Howleen being a half-sister, or becoming an adopted sister later on. Both would be interesting dynamics not often too represented or explored in children's media, and could be valuable as relatable or teachable experiences for the show's target audience.

These are just my ideas of how Frankie, Lagoona, and Howleen could be expanded upon from the initial concepts in the leaked version of the bible. What I'm getting at is there are ways to get from this point, the specific version of the bible that was leaked, to a final show where Frankie is autistic (and maybe AuDHD), Lagoona is bi/pan/ace even, and Howleen is in some way Clawdeen's sister. Because, like I said in my last post, show bibles change, develop, and get updated as writers work on the show.

And as I mentioned earlier, there are several characterizations in the leaked version of the show bible that also don't line up with what we've seen in the finalized show, already halfway through the first season.

The leak doesn't provide any canon confirmation or deconfirmation. It just provides insight to how the writers were thinking about certain ideas at the time it was last updated.

Oh ALL of these. Absolutely...! Save for children, except that one comes as a surprise for later (lol).

Religion Minovae is an atheist. Regill is a Godclaw Knight by the time they reunite nearly a century later. Needless to say they have very different views and beliefs regarding the gods for the most part.

Younger, more energetic, I think he was more actively devout, putting his belief in the gods that embody Law in the middle of Cheliax's awful civil war and he trying to find his own place in the world. I make this distinction because, honestly, by the time we see him in WoTR I really wouldn't call him devout at all - he pays little lip service to any of the gods, really only talks about the Godclaw in terms of martial excellent and a model to follow (kind of like an Art of War), and even outright speaks rather uncommittedly about Iomedae when she appears right before you! ("Technically she is part of my Order's pantheon..." something like that). Why exactly he's in the Godclaw is a mystery save for they're one of the major Worldwound Orders and he needed to transfer to one of them out of the Scourge... but why the Godclaw? Pyre would honestly fit him way better! There's an implication to me he was more devout all those decades ago and has lost it over time being there, which is the one I'm using for my own personal canon.

Let's go back to the civil war though: when they first met as armigers, he actually asked her outright why she was not a paladin. She had all the trademarks of a "perfect paladin" in his mind: merciful yet righteous when pressed, kind, patient, brave/courageous unto foolhardiness, dutiful, hardworking, charismatic with a smile everyone seemed to go weak-kneed for... He couldn't understand why she wasn't one.

Imagine his surprise when she gave him a cold look and said something about the gods never being there for her, why would she ever pledge herself to one of them? Loyalty and respect is a two-way street, and she'd never felt such a thing from any divine. It struck him! He was so quietly insulted that he could only ask with acid: "Do you feel yourself too good for the gods?" She merely said something about mortals only needing to be good enough for themselves and their fellows, and turned and walked away.

They had a pretty rocky start, lol.

His views on her regarding her atheism gradually changed over time, of course. He went from seeing her as arrogant and self-important to something unfortunate: the gods would've been lucky to have a paladin such as her. If Minovae hadn't lost her faith, she could've been a paladin of Iomedae or Abadar, and what a paladin she would've been. She was a matter of unfortunate loss in his mind, but it never detracted from her own qualities. She was every bit what everyone said a paladin should be like, and a cautionary tale in the same breath: did the gods even know what they'd lost?

Then, by the time they reunite nearly a century later, he himself has lost so much of his own faith. He's been in the Worldwound for so long, seen what little influence the gods have had against the Abyss, the failings of the Crusaders and all their paladins, Minovae's disappearance (though it's a quiet gnawing feeling he never consciously acknowledges)... He's a Godclaw Knight now, and he pays heed to the martial tenants the pantheon says and the overall lawful edicts... but does is there really any fervent faith there?

The events of the Crusade whittle it down even further - The Hand of the Inheritor being abandoned by Iomedae just like her predecessor did Arazni; Iomedae's complete dismissal of Minovae's mythic powers and judgement of all she'd done so far; the revelations of House Thrune's treachery and the assassins he died protecting Mino against; the audacity they have to put her on trial for the crime of EXISTING as the Inevitable Paradox despite closing the Worldwound and ending the damn war! The latter caused in him such a feeling of betrayal and rage towards the gods like he'd never felt before.

He may not be an atheist like her by the end but, damn, does he no longer have the reverence he did toward them all like when he was younger.

Marriage (!!!!)

Do they discuss it so much as she quietly freaks out over it for months after they get together, wanting to get married so so badly, only for him to nonchalantly drop a 'not-proposal' on her?

Picture this: it's the end of a particularly exhausting day. The two of them are on the battlements overlooking the ruins of Citadel Darvhage they've just barely started clearing out to claim as their own for their new/rebuilt Order of the Vice, covered in monster blood and dirt, looking over Lake Sorrow glowing with the light of the setting sun... It's silent, save for the cicadas and whatever is beginning to howl in the Barrowood close by...

All of a sudden, he breaks the silence with "It has been on my mind for some time, but.. while I know that neither of us have families or estates... nonetheless we need to officially declare our union. If I am to be Lictor and you wish to stay Exalictor, we must be public about our relationship."

She stares at him in complete shock, a mix of being so suddenly nervous she might throw up, excited beyond belief, and a little horrified she had no time to prepare. He also gets a little nervous as he realizes what he's done, especially as she chokes out a "Did you just ask me what I think you did...?"

He has to spit it out, admitting, yes, he's asking to marry her, followed by a muted: "I apologize it's not some grand gesture like you truly deserve-" Only for her to practically tackle him, squealing and crying. "You idiot! All I've ever wanted is you, and you've just given me exactly that for the rest of our lives! How could I ever ask for anything more?!"

Children (!!!!) Conversation doesn't come up until she unexpectedly and miraculous becomes pregnant! It was an impossibility in their minds: he's a gnome and she's a human ganzi, so surely they aren't compatible in that way. Yet... well Mino isn't totally human anymore. She's a Protean Lord, though a nascent one, and guess what? Protean Lords procreating with mortals create... little ganzi babies.

The talk isn't under the best terms obviously. There aren't any hypotheticals because oh this is happening right now. It's a long a difficult conversation for the both of them... ending with them deciding to try.

Of course they both adore their little girl when she arrives!

Death:

Of course they have. They're both in the line of combat often. It's probably one of the first things they really talk about: what happens if one or the other dies.

It's more complicated depending on who falls: if Regill perishes, she will do whatever she can to resurrect him. But if Mino falls...? She can't be brought back, given she is more divine than mortal. Regill only survives because of her link to him, halting his bleaching with a subtle stream of chaotic energy, so if she falls he is very close behind.

They're both of the mind though that they only wish to be in a world where the other is. They have a shared feeling toward death - wanting to go out together and fall together if they can.

[In fact, have some very secret canon lore for them on what happens to them: eventually Regill does die in battle... and he doesn't come back. Minovae lives on for the sake of their daughter, so that she doesn't grow up having lost them both. I would love for some headcanons about Silver and Edith's relationship if you don't mind! I'd love to imagine them together more.

Ooo, okay! Sorry I took so long, but I had to refamiliarize myself with the character, as it's been a while since I thought about or written for her!

It's a lot so all you want is below the cut! 💝💖💕

Personalities: I think their personalities would fit very well, especially since Silver seems to become more attached to quirky individuals. I think Silver would appreciate Edith not being afraid to get dirty, and those two could potentially have a lot of fun together just going wild! Edith might present herself as more calm, and prefers to ignore or act dismissively towards other when confronted unfairly rather than start a fight, they are still very enthusiastic about their hobbies, and a friendly/cheerful individual that is easy to get along with.

I think Edith's mellowness doesn't come off as the judgmental kind of mellowness, but more of, an open-minded kind of mellowness that shows they love to listen to the people around them and love a good back and forth, which I think Silver would appreciate with his quick tongue and interest in discussing the people and things around him in a thoughtful manner. You can definitely see how Edith was inspired by her brother in that way.

Both Edith and Silver would be able to rant to each other about their more proper upbringing, and having that one familial figure that actually understood them and wanted them to be themselves. Edith had a kooky father, similar to the one in the movie Epic for those that have scene it, that gave Edith her love for exploration and learning! They're very cute together, I imagine, and still very close even though Edith has since moved in with Lacy.

Hobbies: Following up what I said above, I think Edith, however, could calm Silver down in a good way, thanks to her connection with nature. She loves feeling engrained in the world around her, and I've always thought was Silver needed was just to be allowed to roll around in the grass and feel the beauty of being free in the privacy of a beautiful forest. I actually headcanon Edith and Rocky would get along very well for this reason! Edith would also love to help Silver present as the man he wants to thanks to her knowledge of fashion.

On the other side of things, Silver could open Edith up to becoming more interested in less textbook like literature, and I think Edith would grow to love romance stories thanks to Silver's beautiful descriptions of them. Not to mention, I think Edith would love The Great Gatsby and its themes as much as Silver, after Silver helps Edith realize just how colorful text and metaphors can be!

Quirks: I think Silver could help Edith open up to being just a little more assertive. I also think it might take Silver a while to adjust to Edith's quirks, and Edith's to Silver's in turn, but, I think they'd both be very respectful of each other and willing to calmly explain their point of view or why they act the way they do to prevent the other from being hurt. They're both people pleasers and this would definitely effect their communication in the relationship. In this case it's for good, but, in other cases, they may be too polite with each other and need a third party (probably Edith's brother or Mordecai) to speak honestly and break down those barriers for them.

Crushes: I do think Edith and Silver might clash a bit in this area. Yes, as someone who is biologically female, like Silver, it is kind of a big deal she is going out with another woman. So, I think she might misunderstand Silver's individual struggles because Mordecai and him are straight presenting a a couple. I think Silver might have to take Edith down a peg a little and explain to Edith how bad it can feel to be mistaken as a heterometric couple and constantly denied the euphoria of being seen as a man.

I also think Lacy probably doesn't like Mordecai for the same reasons Mitzi is a bit weird about them. She probably views his behavior as creepy, and, being a bit of an avoidant individual, Edith might be inclined to agree. Even when Edith does meet Mordecai, she would probably misunderstand some of his behaviors.

I think getting Mordy and Edith to connect through some of their neurodivergent quirks (both being a bit particular about their environments, textures, and obsessing over certain topics) would make Edith realize that Mordecai doesn't mean any harm. He just has difficulties expressing himself, and she'd probably feel really bad for not realizing that earlier, to be honest.
