Again I know it's supposed to be a haha reference to the turns into a bear when he's too aroused thing, but in again refusing to brush just over the surface of this character: "I must be careful or I'll lose run of myself again. An Archdruid should show *some* restraint." comes across to me as more melancholy than perhaps intended when a. You take it into consideration that several lines imply that Halsin has issues with self control and self servitude, and presenting an "acceptable" version of himself as an outwards facing authority figure, to the point where he brushes over his own feelings, or pushes things that he wants down in the effort to reflect better what others want from him.
And b. Remember that Halsin was essentially just an apprentice when he was forcibly situationally promoted to Archdruid - he wasn't taught *how* to be an Archdruid or trained for it, or mentored; he was thrust into it because they didn't have any other choice. But they needed someone, so he stepped up. Halsin has spent the last century studying and learning things on the fly or through trial and error, and in a position of leadership like that, he is aware that every failure to uphold that mask *counts* and others *are* very much affected. How many times has he muttered that same mantra? Or heard it thrown around? An Archdruid not having control over their own magic is a big deal. Even when he is no longer Archdruid, he still grumbles it to himself. He's been at it over a century and he *still* doesn't feel like he's gotten it right. Even when he is in a place of progression, of trying to gain hold of himself again, those wisps of failure and self doubt still creep into everything. And that's sad to me.

[Images description: Twelve pictures of Star Trek actors. The phrase "thank you for being both amazing actors and amazing people" is written across most of the images one word at a time, except for the two images in the middle. The middle images are of William Shatner, reading "not you!" and Robert Beltran, reading "or you for that matter". The actors in the other images are George Takei, René Auberjonois, DeForest Kelley, Gates McFadden, Wil Wheaton, Kate Mulgrew, Patrick Stewart, Siddig El Fadil (aka Alexander Siddig), Nichelle Nichols and Leonard Nimoy. End image description.]
Non exhaustive list of course. Many more such cases, in fact feel free to add

For Day 7 AU/Freebie of @dincobbweek - I don't feel like cleaning this up, but I really wanted to take the chance to go wild with some tattoos here.
Special thanks to @tosye for helping with brainstorming (even though a good part of them is covered up) and for the motivation to finish this <3

No popular lesbian artist has all five:
Draws people of color
Draws trans people (realistically or at all)
Draws fat people
Draws people with short hair
Draws butches (related to the previous 2 but not synonymous)

Needed to lay down and try to sleep for longer than an hour today, and in doing so I blearily looked at general fandom tags because I wanted to see silly fanart.
Instead I got hit full-force with reality of so much drama over the wildest little shit. I've been cursed with sight.
I have also never been happier to stay in my own bubble away from... all of that.
All that to say, I'm keeping this blog free of more stuff like this but holy fuck it hit me like a freight train. All this drama exhausts me and I don't know how anyone keeps up with it. I prefer to think of this place as the equivalent of a cabin in the woods, one where I emerge every few days with a few thousand words for people to devour with their eyes.

I don't normally make posts like this, but I think it's really interesting how the Barbie movie seems to be in that spot between "queer enough to make conservatives mad and get it banned in certain countries" but somehow not queer enough for some people to still ask "what's queer about it?"
Queer themes and vibes come from more than just two men or two women making out. Allan is the basic representation of gender that doesn't conform to being a Barbie or Ken. Weird barbie is the lesbian experience, full stop. Barbie has the asexual experience of never wanting a love interest and feeling fulfilled without a sexual or romantic partner. Also...whatever the hell was going on with Magic Earring Ken and Sugar Daddy Ken.
I think what this movie has done is depict themes that are queer enough for people who have these experiences to recognize and see themselves on screen (I see myself in Allan and in Barbie's disinterest in a romantic partner), but people's milage may vary. If you wanted things to be more explicit, that's valid. If you liked it and saw yourself represented, that's valid too. If you're disappointed with the representation or lack of it, that's understandable. We all have different experiences, and at the end of the day, it's just a movie.
All this to say, I think it's just an interesting phenomenon (and kind of reflective of Gloria's "it is literally impossible to be a woman" speech).

did the outline for it and this unit assessment is going to be fine actually. i know i always hate the very thought of an assignment until i spend five minutes on an outline but in my defense i have been uncharacteristically fucked up and unwell all week and this has been severely distressing 😭
