do you have any recs for other peter pan media? i love your art and just read peter darling and i feel crazy

thank you so much! sadly i don't have many because i think a lot of peter pan media is. bad and misses the point.

If you haven't read the original book, i can't recommend it enough! I find sooo charming and well written. Other than that my favorite adaptation ever is the 2003 movie it drives me up the walls how good this movie is. The disney movie is fine and very well animated but you dont need me to tell you abt the disney movie.

As a kid i LOVED Peter pan in scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean!! Wendy and the lost boys go back to neverland as adults and find it has gone to shit, peter wearing hook's coat and becoming more and more irritable. I actually just learned its the 'official' sequel, authorised by the Great Ormond Street Hospital, so that's neat

Huhh I saw a peter pan musical 2 years ago lol? its french and definitly wasn't recorded, i was the only adult without kids and i had a great time, smee was a woman (double win for feminism AND homophobia ) and they didn't take advantage of the room filled with 6 years old to ask them to all scream they believe in fairies. boo, don't know why i told you abt this. movin on

I haven't read the loisel peter pan series yet so i can't exactly recommend them but i love the art

it seems very edgy and also probably misses the point, and i bet its filled to the brim with early 2000s sexism but. loisel art. yummy. need to check out my local library rn actually

I also liked peter darling quite a bit! heard the audiobook version and had to listen to gay erotic scenes narrated by an old british man on the subway. great experience

i hated lost boy by christinia henry with a PASSION: bad writting, made hook straight, doesnt get peter by making him litteraly evil (hes meant to be a child!! the most child ever!! when he does bad things its because he's selfish or doesn't get it or is angry he's a child!!!) anyway i hate how much this book gets recommended to me whenever my peter pan posts get some traction stop talking to me abt lost boy you guys tricked me into reading it already!! only good thing it does is replacing the native americans by. giant spiders. so i guess less racism than most peter pan works. great

idk ive heard of hooked recently. you guys know abt hooked? from booktok? seems bad

i have a short and mediocre playlist abt my peter pan,, thing too (title translates to 'im mad because 'lost boy' really is the perfect title for this' lol)

i just wanna say for any other ppl out there who loved to read as a child but have lost the ability as an adult to PLEASE remember that audiobooks exist and that it’s not ‘cheating’ or anything like that to just listen to a book instead of reading it. yes even if you already own the physical book so it feels like a ‘waste,’ yes even if you can’t fully pay attention so you miss a few words here and there, yes even if you feel like it’s ‘not the same’ as really reading a book, because a book half listened to is still better than a ‘real’ book you never pick up at all!!

i am saying this because i struggled sooo much trying to get back into reading and had all these weird hangups about audiobooks that i had to force myself to get over and guess what! its been amazing! ive read more books in the past year than i read in probably the last decade combined! and allowing myself to not feel ashamed of taking the ‘easy way’ helped me rekindle my love and passion for my favorite books which made it easier to also read physical books too sometimes when i feel the urge! and also!! i havent spent a fucking dime on audiobooks!! i’ve read 50+ audiobooks this year and they are literally all just free from my local library as well as the non-local books unbanned libraries i’ve been able to access (again - for completely fucking free!! i cannot emphasize this enough!!!)

so yeah please don’t make up silly rules for yourself about reading. there is no right or wrong. read whatever the hell you want to read in whatever format will allow you to actually read the damn thing and prosper.

last song: Come Hang Out by AJR off the top of my head by my tabs say Providence by Poor Mans Poison . Come Hang Out feels so nostalgic to me even if i only listened to it recently reminds me of a graduation song (it came out 5 yrs ago so it makes sense. I just really love Poor Mans Poison's vibes generally great fuel for daydream and also matches well with the feeling of revolution (and seeing everything collapse i guess.) (ish) mentally listening to Your Love is All I Need by Sami Yusuf tho at all times lately, probs because i have been trying to wean myself off listening to music for like the 50th time. (its slow going but IM GONNA TRY inshaallah ill be able to do it) (he also took the old nasheed music video off his channel? sad its so good)

currently watching: does d20 mentopolis count? only watched one ep but its good. i havent watched anything regularly besides like school vids for a bit. tried watching the dragon prince s5 when it came out but buffering (the video player i mean) and dissatisfaction at the pacing and characterization kinda stopped me. ill back on it at the end of the yr when everything is settled. if we are talking about podcasts started relistening to wolf 359 and keeping up with the greater gatsby (the latter has SUBLIME noir vibes as it is a noir i bloody love shipwreck's work it scratches that itch in my brain so well) . i may have seen spoilers for wolf 359 so i am anxiously waiting to see if i am proved wrong but im on s4 so its soon prepare for a barrage of reblogs for it. watched s4 of malory towers it was very nice i cant wait for s5 - the pantomime hopefully we get new members for the older years next season i miss the larger cast

currently reading: not much really. fanfic alot. i guess. caught up to the end of the To Make a Legend series on ao3 (pjo) and other fics for a couple of other fandoms (in one false move by Kalidium is really good if your into murder most unladylike - spoilers for A Spoonful of Murder though) also been reading barbie 2023 fanfic? was bored and started hunting for good ones (slim picking at the moments but if you want character study and grief and some bloody good writing def read something in me in you by telm_393 i cant explain it its that good) also reread My Memories Came Back in the Form of Someone Else by Lucy_Luna yes its that really good spiderverse fanfic do check it out

BESIDES THAT THO in terms of actual books. have the audiobook saved for The Valley and The Flood so gonna listen to that later. Have to read The Hate Race for class (not my fave but i need for analysis ive read it like 3 times but I STILL DONT REMEMBER ANYTHING) .

started rereading The Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes a couple of weeks ago ahead of the movie coming out at the end of this year but never got the chance to finish it so ill have to get on that too.

also dracula ive been reading as well but more on that the next section.

current obsession: re:dracula is the first that comes to mind im so bloody invested in jonathan's wellbeing and his relationship wiht mina and the whole story its insane . i should read more older books its good . re;dracula DOES SUCH A GOOD JOB AT SUCKING YOU INTO THE STORY THE VOICE ACTORS REALLY MADE IT FOR ME i just cant with ti it makes me so bloody happy!! Renfield's voice actor is a standout for me everytime he's there i just have to pause and stare at a wall. also jonathan's actor as well hes SO GOOD i was geniunly worried about jonathan not sending me voicemails into my phone i was THAT endeared to him

besides that PLAY IT BY EAR the musical improv show by dropout is also a obsession of mine i cannot with their talent. the MUSIC so good i want to play it all the bloody time . i am in absolute awe in the performers ability to create a story and TIE IT ALL TOGHETER SO WELL like every piece of information is used whether you expect it or not . DN THE BAND OH GOD I DONT KNOW HOW THEY SO IT THE MUSIC IS SO FUN AND CREATIVE AND FITS THE MOOD AND MADE UP ON THE SPOT???!!! HOW I DONT KNOW (if u ask me who my favourite guest star is at the moment its ross byant hes an absolute delight whenever he is on a d20 show- the improvised shakespear episode blew my mind)

i havent heard anyone talk about this but techno has a dedicated roleplay voice. like listen to him talk to tommy at 00:25:08. his voice gets more even, he uses names a lot more often (seriously, listen to his theseus speech. he says tommy so often, its incredible.), and his voice gets,,,,deeper? not deeper but smoother, in a way, and he repeats what he says for emphasis instead of humor. and his voice is louder, and he seems more assertive.

hey! do you have adhd (i'm assuming you do cuz of ur bio but yeah)? i have it and i am finding it super hard to stay focused when studying, and especially in class :( do u have any tips? i get quite good grades but i feel like if i focused more in class (i do try but like after 20mins my brain starts to struggle) it would be even better ah adhd is making year 11 pretty hard

hi! yes, i do have adhd!

so what helps for me when it comes to studying is the pomodoro technique!!!!! that is probably the sole reaon i can turn in anything on time lmao. and try to study in different ways to keep things easier and interesting and match your executive function and concentration for the day (it fluctuates for us with adhd, meaning that one day your focus and executive function can be great and the other its can s u c k). watch movies on the subject on youtube, read textbooks using the pomodoro technique, make flashcards, listen to audiobooks and synthesized readings of texts using claroread (and if possible, listen to an audiobook of your textbook!!) dramatize, record your own voice reading your notes out loud and listen to them while taking a walk, etc etc.

in class i always sit at the same desk at the very front. its great because 1) no new distractions if its the same ol desk and 2) if im in the front i dont get distracted by people in front of me and 3) when the teacher and the whiteboard (in my case) is right in front of me i feel obliged to be focused (or at least not look at my phone or whatnot) out of respect for the teacher and if i zone out i still have the material right before my eyes!! it helps a lot. you can also ask someone to share their notes with you at the end of class to make sure you havent missed anything and maybe give them a coffee or snack for their help?

i also bring something to stim with and that doesnt make a lot of sound (i dont want to bother the other students!!). maybe something with a nice texture to fiddle with.

lastly, i take meds to help with concentration. this works for me personally and if you dont want to or have the opportunity to its 100% ok of course!

and!! its okay to zone out or have a bad day concentration-wise. its just how your brain works! being hard on yourself will only make you feel bad and do absolutely nothing with your brain function- it will stay as it is but your confidence will not. i wish you all the best and i hope this helped!!
