just saw a comment by someone saying that the healthiest we can be is "chubby", and their test for that was if you can't touch your thumb with your pinkie finger when holding them around your other wrist... and like. No. This is what I mean about anti-science or pseudo-science. This is the kind of crap that gives people body image issues. This is "if you can't see your collarbones you're too heavy" type nonsense that you read in magazines. It doesn't matter if you've turned it around, any rules like this are inherently nonsense because people have different proportions and degrees of flexibility.

also if that is actually a test - and I can't find a source for it anywhere, possibly because they read it in Cosmo or whatever - then it's a bad test because there's no upper limit, as in, it's just yes or no when by definition a healthy-weight test should have a lower and an upper limit

if you say you're against diet culture and for body positivity and then parrot these arbitrary "rules" that make zero allowances for individual variation then you haven't really understood the problem at all.

I don't think Louis is banned at all but rap artist have talked about being banned and have proofs of it so some musicians do get banned. Pharell is known from blocking certain musicians that were under him to not get played on radio or invited to shows. Raye is everywhere now but she also talked about that when she left her label.

Yeah, I don't doubt for a second there's some shady shit in the music biz, there are some acts who have been banned, but the idea that someone who is at Louis Tomlinson's level of success is being actively banned, yet still being interviewed, still participating in different pieces in different parts of the game--I'm supposed to believe there's ALSO some little poster of him up in the hallways of Radio 1? It's just so fucking ludicrous to me, the eternal hand-wring of "my fave isn't the current flave, and it's not because of the simple fact he doesn't sound like everything else they're playing, he's part of the station's current demographic, it's because he's been BANNED," and I'm sorry, that's not the case. I think one of the kindest things you can do for people with various mental health struggles is just... let people back into your life after they've been absent for a while.

Making friends as an adult is so fucking hard already and isolating yourself from other people is a very common symptom of depression, anxiety, burnout, ocd, trauma, grief, etc. Which means that someone will do the hard work of recovery/healing and resurface back into a world where their previous friends have written them off because they stopped showing up.

So if you know someone where you're like "yeah we could have been better friends but they fell off the map a bit" and that person suddenly reaches out, or starts showing up to events even though you kind of forgot they were still in the group chat... well they may have been Going Through It and you don't actually have to punish them for their absence you can just be glad that they're back.

#forever grateful for friends that let me disappear for a bit because I was too sad for everything and just held space for me to come back #so I'm trying to pay it forward by holding that space for other people #my nonsense
