Have you ever wanted to explore the history of Japan? 🇯🇵 If so, then a visit to Nara is a must! Nara was the capital of Japan during the Nara period from 710 to 794 and is easily accessible from either Osaka or Kyoto. So why not make the journey and discover all that this ancient city has to offer?🥰 🚅 ✈️How to get there: You can reach Nara easily from either Osaka or Kyoto by simply hopping on a train and travelling to Nara Station or Kintetsu Nara Station. The nearest airports are Osaka International (Itami) Airport and Kansai International Airport, both in Osaka Prefecture. 🍁🌸When to go: Nara is beautiful in all seasons, but as your visit is likely to involve a lot of walking and being outdoors, it will be most comfortable in the spring or autumn months. 🦌Highlight: Thousands of tame sika deer (also known as spotted deer or Japanese deer) roam around Nara, especially in Nara Park which is world famous largely because of them! Some of these deer have even learned to bow to visitors in order to receive deer crackers as a reward. From temples, shrines and palaces, there is plenty for you to explore in Nara. And don’t forget to say hi to the friendly deer, and maybe feed them a cracker or two!🥰 📁Save this post to add Nara to your Japan travel itinerary! —————————————— - - - - - #nara #narapark #narajapan #visitnara #naratourism #naradeer #japan #japantrip #japanigram #日本旅行 #japanlover #japanicious #explorejapan #japantravelguide #visitjapan2023 #instagramjapan #japanbucketlist (at Nara Japan) https://www.instagram.com/p/CphWK19pNls/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Ginzan Onsen, the most instagramable place on earth.
Ginzan Onsen, the inspiration for Studio Ghibli’s famous Spirited Away, and a gorgeous hot spring town!
QUICK SUMMARY:
Area: Obanazawa, Yamagata Prefecture Northen Japan | Good For: Relaxing, Photography | Tourist Trap Rating: 4/10
MY TIPS:
1. Visit one of the many Onsens in the town
Most Onsens open from 10am until around 2-2:30pm, so make sure you arrive mid-morning to take full advantage of this unique experience (please note- Onsens are traditional Japanese hot spring baths where it is required to bathe naked (men and women are separated, and you are out of view of the public). A relaxing experience for those willing to give it a go!
2. Make sure you wear good waterproof shoes - the town is covered in snow, and the walkways have warm water constantly pouring over them using hoses with tiny holes - so you will be walking in water all day!
3. Get a warm Soba Noodle lunch at one of the resturants (we visited Takimikan Inn for both our onsen and lunch)
4. Stop in at one of the cafes for some sweet treats while you wait for the sun to go down! - But don’t be too late to the picturesque red bridge - tourists are bussed in to have their chance at capturing that famed instagram shot!

We went in by car from Sendai (about 2 hours) but Ginzan Onsen is also accessible by Bus Tours.
