rewatched saw iii the other night and I’m being soooo normal about it. anyway do you guys ever wonder how amanda must have felt when she watched lynn cutting into john’s skull? when she found this woman, ruined everything she knew and cared about, kidnapped her with her pill bottle still in hand and forced her to tear into a man who for their purposes might as well already be dead? do you think that’s why she tried to stay so far away from lynn during the surgery—because she saw the scalpel and it took her back to that warehouse with blood on her knuckles and metal on her tongue. or do you think it happened the other way around? do you think she saw the reverse bear trap lying on a desk and could only think of her own game, but this time with the man who put her there under the knife? do you think she felt sympathy in that moment, not for john, but for lynn? do you think it scared her a little bit? do you think it killed her a little bit? do you think that moment was the final nail in the coffin for her relationship with john? because just like john in her original game, she was the voyeur watching it all happen? and she had never been so similar to john, yet at the same time she had never felt so distant from him?

a whole supercut of lynn saying amanda's name and amanda never said her name once...

this got me thinking:

do you think when lynn and amanda finally got together, amanda never calls her a pet name, just calls her by her name, all the time. at first lynn thinks it's because amanda doesnt want them to go too fast or because amanda is not comfortable with that sort of intimacy.

but months go by and still it's "lynn, what do you want for dinner?" or "come to bed, lynn" or "i think you're pretty, lynn" and then it's a year, and she's called amanda every term of endearment in the book and she's still "lynn"

and one day she just had to ask

"why do you just call me 'lynn'?"

"thats your name, what do you mean?" followed by a soft laugh, because the mood is light.

"yeah but we're a couple... and couples are 'babe,' 'baby,' 'honey,' or 'darling', whatever, you know?"

"do you want me to call you those?"

"if you want to, i mean... you seem like you dont want to, because if you do, you would have."

"okay..." a smile and an affectionate look in her eyes, to lighten the mood.

"so maybe just why? why not?"

"well" and she cradles lynn's hand in between hers.

lynn takes a deep breath, and mandy gives her a kiss on the forehead—soft, affectionate.

"because there's no other word or phrase that means 'love' to me more than your name."
