Favorite Elite Four members of each region, GO GO GO

Buckle up, buttercup.

KANTO - LORELEI. I have a Pokemon Adventures manga from my elementary school years that showcases several stories from the Yellow arc. At one point, Yellow gets chased and later cornered by Lorelai of the Kanto Elite Four (who are, in fact, all villains in the Adventures manga, hell bent on killing humans who caused the suffering of Pokemon). Villain or not, Lorelai is memorable in both aesthetic and personality; I like her sexy businesswoman vibe, and "Lorelai" is just such a pretty name. Ice is also one of my favourite types, even if it is a touch frail.

(Runner up - Lance, but he doesn't really count so much anymore because he becomes Champion in the sequel Johto games).

JOHTO - KAREN. I'm not sure what GameFreak were going for with Karen's design, because she sure doesn't look like a Dark-type trainer, but I like her regardless. She's got the all-famous quote:

"Strong Pokemon, weak Pokemon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favourites."

... which I think really encompasses what Pokemon as a game is at least supposed to be (it was only successful in executing this I think in the most recent two or arguably three generations). Her Destiny Bond-Gengar is also a staple.

(Runner up - Will)

HOENN - GLACIA. When I was 9 and first taking on the Hoenn League in Emerald, I'm pretty sure Glacia gave me the most trouble due to her Hail strategies and also because her bulky Walrein was impossible for little old underleveled me to one-shot. Her outfit and overall vibe reminds me of an opera singer somewhat and I really like that. Also - more Ice types!

(Runner up - Sydney)

SINNOH - LUCIAN. I've always found Lucian to be much harder to beat than Cynthia, mostly due to his Bronzong and the fact that it's really hard to overlevel in the Sinnoh games (the later level jumps, especially in DP and BDSP, are kind of insane). I'm a big fan of calm, collected boss-types and Lucian definitely fits that bill.

(Runner Up - Aaron)

UNOVA - GRIMSLEY. I love Grimsley's energy so much; this lazy, aristocratic vibe he clings to. It's such a shame that he's got such an intense and detrimental gambling addiction (or at least he does until SM was released, I assume at that point he's in rehab) and what seems to be some sort of reliance on chance (maybe a sprinkling of OCD) but it's also what makes him so interesting. He was definitely the most intriguing of the Unova E4 for me.

(Runner up - Shauntal)

KALOS - DRASNA. I must say that I don't find the Kalos E4 to be particularly memorable as individuals (although the environment and build-up to fighting them is spot-on), so this was a little tough, but I'd have to ultimately pick Drasna as a favourite. She's just so nice to you! It's also nice to get another female Dragon specialist, and she's a heck of a lot more enjoyable than Claire ever was.

(Runner up - Wikstrom)

ALOLA - KAHILI. This one's a little weird because, at least to me, Kahili is the only member of the Alolan E4 (except for perhaps Molayne); all of the others (Hala, Olivia, Acerola) in my mind are temporary since this is the first League match.

Kahili is interesting in many ways; she's obviously a very serious person, she's a professional golfer (which I believe is a first for Pokemon), and she's the first Flying E4 specialist we ever got.

(Runner up - Molayne)

PALDEA - HASSEL. The man, the myth, the legend. There's no way I could complete this list without mentioned our dearly beloved bow-legged Dragon master. It helps that SV fleshes out pretty much every important adult NPC in the entire game, and it also helps that Hassel is one half of a whole ship that both I and @roxycake adore immensely. His history is out in the open for you to discover and yet still shrouded in a healthy layer of mystery. I wonder if anything new will be discovered when the DLC comes out later this year.

My aesthetic tends to change a lot and I often have ones that are conflicting so beware if I change it too much. lol but currently it's a mix of Casinocore and Emocore.

Ones loves are Lance, Molayne, Emmet, Cyllene, Warden Ingo, Proton and oneself! I never shut up about them! Emmet is ones husband real!

he did heal though!! Mainly bc the birth of Soffy!! And becoming a trial captain? But he did sorta... push away his friends not in a mean way but in I’m devoted to my work way? ( on a more positive note ) his trial is neat bc it was super spaced base?? A bit smoke and mirrors tho? U never actually could tell where he is during the trial? Which is. Not fun to have someone popping up behind u and being like “Ehehe u look a little SPACED.out “ He also has semi ties to aether and interpol but it’s all rlly messy Bad relationship w/ lusamine based on the fact he projected on her husband as?? A pseudo brother and? When he finally healed from his bro he tried 2 get her to accept, yanno he’s gone? And he might have been called a coward who abandoned people he loved but it’s Ok ( because she was just suffering. he sometimes wonders if things would have been less bad if he had been more proactive, but then again he was trying to heal himself && there really isn’t much he could have done you know? )

a bit more info, because this is very general.

the reason his brother became interested in the UBs was actually because he was a bit of one of those kids that always wanted to find something more interesting in the world?? so his obsession became something that combined his two greatest loves: cool ass monsters && space. he also was more of an electric type trainer, but both of them shared a very fond love for magnemites! molayne had originally handled the incident really poorly. he sort of didn’t know what to do, so he just, curled into himself? became more devoted to science && being a better trainer. this wasn’t really good though given that guzma was going through really rough times at the moment, && the sorta... friction between both of their homelives made? it hard to be friends. a lot of things were said that both really wish weren’t. kukui was a stubborn man && refused to let molayne close in on himself from him. it’s basically why if kukui said, “Go find me a shiny legendary” molayne probably would try 2 do it for him? he was in love with kukui for a bit, but kukui didn’t really want to... do anything with it because he had this fear that mo was just saying that because he was sensitive from what happened? all very confusing teen stuff.

i think like! molayne has healed from it! he values the people he’s close to more than anything? like, the other trial captains on ula’ula! and nanu! they’re basically his family && he has, undoubtedly, done that “name a star after someone” thing with everyone there. plus ofc, kukui, burnet, && guzma as well.,

Dogwood - You've been quiet for a week or so- do they reach out to ask what's wrong, or do they let you have your space?

I can't imagine a situation where we're not physically right next to eachother that long, but if it did happen they'd reach out. They're a very clingy, prone to think the worst kind of crew.

Jessie's the least likely to reach out as she's pretty use to people just vanishing from her life, so she wouldn't be that worried. But Wobbeffet and Meowth worrying would eventually get her to cave and call me.

Cottonwood - If you took a vacation together, where would you go? What would you do?

Back to Alola! We'd visit Beware and Stufful, chill and play on the beach, plan to stay in a nice hotel just to have Beware INSIST we come home with her and rest in the cave... and honestly that is much better than any fancy hotel could be.

I'd also probably visit my brother Molayne while we're there, maybe finally introduce them to him.. but also probably not skdjkfsk They're shy and anxious around Gym Leader types.

Palm - If they did something you didn't agree with, would you call them out on it or let it slide? Would they call you out on something?

Jessie does whatever she wants and calling her out on it is a risk I'm not willing to take. Meowth maybe it depends on what he did, he's pretty reasonable. Wobbuffet has never done anything wrong in his life he is perfect.

Pokemon's my favorite place for shipping because no one can be normal here when it comes to naming their ships. We've been around too long. We don't do name mashes here. We do Ferrishwheelshipping. We do Cafemochashipping. We do Checkmateshipping. We are off the rails and I love it here.

I will not be using ship names in my list, for I do not know all of them. Also this one got really fuckin long so under the cut it all goes.

Call back to my OW version of this post, Molayne is in the same boat as Junkrat. Any Molayne ship is a good ship. He could smooch anyone, at anytime, and I would agree. I could also see all of these happening in the same universe, as I see Molayne as very non-monogamous and affectionate

Molayne/Sophocles was my first, Lil Soffy and Big Mo my beloveds. I think they're so sweet. Molayne's fanbase is already so niche tho that there's no romantic content for them.

Kuikui/Molyane/Guzma is fantastic. Besties to polycule pipeline.

Guzma/Molyane and Kuikui/Molanye solo are both also pretty tight. Especially anime Molyane/Kuikui, the bullying is real.

I've seen Molyane/Nanu a handful of time, good stuff good stuff

Molyane/Faba? Quality, cute. Only ever seen it once

I've seen Molyane/Cyrus lately, sense Sophoclese has adopted Cryrus into his found family in masters, and I'm all for that as well.

On anime Cilan, Cilan/Ash was very cute

Ash/Gladion is in the same area to me as just cute times

Ash/Goh then is peak just cute Ash ships though and I think it's mainly because Goh is very much in love with Ash

In that same vein Ash/Clemont in the XY anime was just as cute? Clemont crush on Ash?? Peak

Kuikui/Ash from the Sumo anime is also so?? I could not explain to you I just think Sumo brought out Ash's goofy stupid little boy vibes immaculately, especially around Kuikui

Colress/Ghetsis is very funny to me personally they dynamic of knowing everything about your shitty boss/old friend and using it to piss him off is peak.

The recent rise of Submas content got me to ship Ingo/Emmet and that's just on you, the fandom, who keep putting them on my dash

Ingo/Emmet/Elsa/Skyla - Ace/Aro/Lesbian/Bi polycule train my dearly beloveds

I've posted about Emmet/Volo a few times. I have no played the game Volo is from but I know of his homosexuality and I think Emmet should beat him to a pulp and make out with him at the same time

Ingo/Volo as a one night stand that Volo never stops messing with Ingo about is also very funny I don't post them often but I do love them.

Sophocles/Clemont is very cute thank you Pokemon Masters for the blond nerds who kiss food

Same vein Sophocles/Cryrus *chefs kiss* the age gap the seeing your younger self and the potential in another the healing the growth the chance to change and feel. Gorgeous

Sycamore/Lysandre is underrated and under used the way the interact in Masters makes me crazy they are dating for sure

Kiawa/Mimo from the sumo anime yet again I think the way he fawns over her is so so so cute he loves her so much

Gordie/Milo??? I don't know where this ship came from but I love them both we are a polycule their content is so cute

Hau/Gladion is very important to my me/Lillie self insert and I think they're lovely

To be a little basic yet again Archie/Maxie is very good

But also Archie/May/Maxie is even better

Not as serious but there's a scene in the BW anime where Alder flirts with Cynthia and I just think they should go on a date
