Finding Freedom Out in Nature (Katmai National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: This point wasn’t too far from the point a friend and I would start on the hike to Dumpling Mountain in Katmai National Park. The view is looking to the east-south east through some nearby trees and then across the waters of Naknek Lake. Off in the distance are peaks with Mount Katolinat and Mount La Gorce. While mostly cloudy with overcast skies, I felt that I was able to bring a nicer look after making some initial post-processing work with adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 3.

Letting the Mind Wonder While the Body Wanders (Katmai National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view looking to the east-southeast across the waters of Naknek Lake after finishing the Dumpling Mountain Trail. This was along the lake shoreline at Brooks Camp with the ridgelines and peaks of Mount Katolinat and Mount La Gorce off in the distance. With this image, I decided to not angle my Nikon SLR camera downward as I really didn't feel that sweeping view across the lake would add much to the image. The mountains and the mostly cloudy skies had the drama that I felt best captured this setting that afternoon. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 3.

By pulling back on the focal length and angling my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, I felt I was able to bring out a more sweeping view across this landscape in Katmai National Park.

Revitalize the Mind and Body Outside in Nature (Katmai National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A view while walking along the shoreline, looking to the east-southeast, across Naknek Lake to Mount Katolinat and other distant mountains and ridgelines on a mostly cloudy and overcast day. I later used a recipe in Color Efex Pro 4 that I came up with to match work I used to do in Capture NX2, after doing some initial post-processing work and making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 3.

I captured this image at the Lower River Platform with a view looking to the East. The view is across the waters of Naknek Lake with the peaks of Mount Katolinat and Mount La Gorce off in the distance. By pulling back on the focal length and angling my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, I felt I was able to bring out a more sweeping view across this landscape in Katmai National Park. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 3.
