A series of 14 Sherlock Holmes films was released from 1939—1946. Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce portrayed Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The first two films were produced by 20th Century-Fox and released in 1939. Universal Pictures acquired the rights from the Doyle estate and produced a further 12 films. The films from Fox had large budgets, high production values and were set in the Victorian era. Universal updated the films' setting to the then-present time of World War II with Holmes fighting the Nazis and produced them as B pictures with lower budgets. All but the first three films were directed by Roy William Neill. [X]

I found some 1940s old Sherlock Holmes movies (10/10 recommend tbh) and while I realise that they had a very small shot to fit everything in, did they have to sit in each other's laps like this???
Guy Richie's movies weren't the first to make them seem queer af, by now I think it's just part of the story.
Also there have been a fair few moments in these when Sherlock and John have been so adorably domestic if tumblr had existed back then, Johnlock wouldve been trending every time a new film came out.

I don’t know if this will ever be truly finished, I’m finding it far to enjoyable to etch away at it slowly.

CLIENT: I didn't help you solve the case.
HOLMES: No, but you did much more than that. It was your timely warning [plot spoiler] saved the life of my dear friend and colleague, Doctor John H. Watson.
WATSON: That's very nice of you, old man.
HOLMES: Thereby enabling us to continue our long and happy association together.
