What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? oh man. childhood favorites that stick with me are Pokemon, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy. I've dipped into Tales of, though the only one I've completed is Vesperia (beloved game). Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 are both amazing. Splatoon is my favorite shooter. I've gotten lost in Pillars of Eternity for hundreds of hours. I think my fav Elder Scrolls game has become Oblivion for some reason. Sometimes I dive into sim games like Planet Zoo or Two Point Hospital for a bit. I like video games!!

Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: hard to pick a type, but some of my favs are Ampharos, Ivysaur, and Furret!

How did you get into Fire Emblem? downloaded the Awakening demo and played it like 10 times in a row. decided that buying myself the game was going to be my first "treat yourself" purchase when i moved out for college

How did you find TOA? Lucius was over at my house and pitched it to me one night while we were reminiscing about FERP on tumblr. pulled up the rank chart on my computer to explain it to me and everything lmao

Who was your first TOA muse? If you don’t have them anymore, could you see yourself picking them up again? Python was my first! He's definitely the one I'm most confident in, and I see him as kind of my "bedrock muse" for now.

Have you had any other TOA muses? I had Reyson for a short-ish time!

Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards? I think I'm still feeling out the difference between "types of characters i gravitate toward liking" and "types of characters I gravitate toward writing". I do think I feel most comfortable writing supporting characters with enough backstory for me to tease out and build up from there!

What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? I love character connection. Whether it's spoken aloud or not, I like little moments where I can have my muse compare a character to someone else they know, or see each other in a different way. I also love when characters have conflicting views and motivations and have to deal with that in one way or another!

Favorite TOA-related memory: KKE Team Guard coming together for that crazy rapid-fire chat that Ree sprung on us for the finale is definitely a strong one! It was so fun seeing different characters shine throughout the conversations, and on my own end I loved having an opportunity to let Python lose his cool for once >:3

Got any delusions that didn’t see the light of day in TOA that you’d like to share? I've only got fleeting thoughts that I would have to let simmer longer, especially when I would have to let someone go to fill the slot (I have accepted that 2 is my personal limit). I've been reading your take on the BG3 characters and I realize that back when I played the early access I wasn't so much evaluating the characters for like, who they were, but the role playing opportunities they provided.

It's really interesting, I don't think I've ever approached a game like that before.

I think they definitely spent more time on giving a dynamic range of options than they did fleshing out the characters. The gender thing (men sparky, women strong) is interesting.

Waiting to get my new ssd before I reinstall it so who knows when I'll dip in again.

I mean, I approach all RPG games as storytelling vehicles. When I want some mechanics I'll play Stellaris or somesuch, strategy games where all the storytelling is window dressing for very fancy chess

I don't think I can approach any story without noticing how its constructed. Characters in video games are the same as characters in any other medium for me, an arc is an arc. Like, you said you evaluated them not on characterization but on RP potentiality and I don't know how you'd separate the two!

I'm eager to meet the other companions. But if my theory is correct, the burly man is going to be jovial and the warrior woman is going to be angry, which.... would track

There are some qol things too, like why do we have separate inventories? I feel like ever since Pillars of Eternity I haven't had to deal with a cumbersome system like this, or maybe I got spoiled by Pathfinder's group inventory system. Not to mention I had to google where my stuff goes when I send it to camp

It's such a highly polished game it feels weird to have these missteps. Like faces emote in ways that don't repulse me! A lot of work went into this! So why does it take so long to roll dice? Little things and bigger things

CURRENTLY LIVING: Feeling uncomfortable being tied down to one home, he has multiple places he stays depending on his mood.

He has a room in the servants' wing of the Dzemael Manor, choosing to remain there as a reminder of how his adoptive father never accepted him as a true part of the family until his rise to fame as the Warrior of Light. He acquired a small cottage in Shirogane during Stormblood, retreating there whenever he grows tired of dealing with High House shenanigans. Lastly (for now, at least) his adoptive uncle Tarresson arranged for him to have his own manor constructed in the Empyreum post-Endwalker. He spends most of his time in the latter.

SPOKEN LANGUAGES: Without use of the Echo, he can only communicate in Common Eorzean, but he learned how to read in the old Elezen tongue so he could read Ishgardian faerietales and scripture in their original language.

EDUCATION: He received a formal education at Saint Endalim's Scholasticate, achieving the equivalent of a PhD in Halonic scripture and graduating with the Trinity at the age of 18. Outside of his studies, he would also make ample use of the scholasticate's library, especially its restricted section, to learn about alchemy, aetherology, and a variety of other subjects that caught his interest.

Outside of a formal education: Before he left Ishgard to start adventuring, he had a tutor in "advanced conjury," which is just a totally not-at-all suspicious alternative way to describe white magic taught outside a traditionally-approved setting. He also studied arcanima at Mealvaan's Gate, picking it up with ease and almost immediately teaching himself advanced, master-level techniques simply because he wanted to make his carbuncle pink.

And then there's all his, uh... Other education. He knows a whole lot about tempering, anatomy, and the effects of aether on the body for... Reasons. He would love to talk about it, but he also Does Not want to talk about it. ...Also for reasons.

HAIR COLOR: Long, snow-white curls that fade into pastel pink toward the ends. It's naturally that way, sort of.

This may seem a bit random but I went on your characters page and I didn't see the baroness that romanced Octavia! Was wondering what you did with them?

I got restartitis incredibly late into Kingmaker (like... as we were getting to the Castle of Knives) and honestly in KM at least I was finding her quite boring to rp, so I decided to start afresh.

I'm going to be importing Dianthe over to Pillars of Eternity, though, because the game really didn't feel like I was going to able to play what I wanted to properly (e.g. not a full party who'd be okay with a Bleak Walker Paladin MC's actions) - so she's going to be taking over there as a human paladin of the Kind Wayfarers.

I'm playing bg3 and I'm liking it so far, im still in Act 1 and im wanting to make a new character and rp in a different style lmao

My current Tav is very dumb but kind and will attack goblins and hags on sight. She's a wood elf ranger but I forget the ranger part a lot lmao

I wanna play a bard and try a dark urge play through... but I wanna finish the story first lol.

Very fun game though, I've not played other baldurs gate games, I tried out Divinity Original sin2 but I haven't gotten into it yet, and I played and loved Pillars of Eternity, that was a really fun time, it was my entrance into these types of games. Are the sequels good? Maybe I should finish bg3 before buying any new games lolol

Crowdfunding website Fig is no more

The crowdfunding website Fig for video games, which supported the creation of titles like Psychonauts 2 and Homeworld 3, is no longer accessible. As reported by RPS, the news was shared by Double Fine and Blackbird Interactive, who issued updates shortly before the website's shutdown. "We've been informed that the Fig website is going to be brought offline on Sunday, May 28th," wrote Double Fine's community manager Harper Jay on the Psychonauts 2 Fig page, adding "that means we're going to have to shift our communications to a different hub." Likewise, Homeworld 3's publisher Gearbox published a similar post on its official website, stating "We are committed to continuing to provide you with consistent updates and visibility into Homeworld 3 through alternative channels." It appears both studios were given little warning about Fig's imminent shutdown. Jay notes in their update that the revelation was "a bit of a surprise to us too!" while Gearbox's post states that the company "recognize that this news is sudden". Regarding outstanding backer rewards, both studios reassured Fig backers that they would be contacted about these by email. Originally launched in 2015, Fig's prominence as a crowdfunding platform rose alongside the announcement of Psychonauts 2. It was selected as the platform for the game's crowdfunding campaign in favour of Kickstarter, which developer Double Fine used for its previous game Broken Age. Unlike Kickstarter, Fig allowed some users to invest in projects and receive a share of future revenue. Double Fine's CEO Tim Schafer was also on the Fig board, alongside other notable game developers such as Brian Fargo and Cliff Bleszinski. It was an idea that bore some fruit. The first game published on Fig, Kingdoms and Castles, quickly made a million dollars in sales and doubled the return for its investors. Other notable games to use Fig included Wasteland 3, Outer Wilds, Pillars of Eternity 2, and Phoenix Point. Larger events affected some of Fig's more high profile projects, however. Double Fine's acquisition by Microsoft changed the payout to investors from being contingent on game sales to a fixed payment. This was higher than the initial promised payout, but was also a one-time affair. In 2021, Gearbox announced that it wouldn't be collecting reserved investments, due to the company's acquisition by Embracer Group. Fig itself was acquired by Republic in 2020. According to the platform's website Republic "curates private investing opportunities with high-growth potential across startups, gaming, real estate, and crypto". It's worth noting Republic had previously announced the Fig website would be closing, although no date had been specified. 😅 What's a story or scene you've created that you're a smidge embarrassed exists?

I can't really re-read my earliest forays into porny fic anymore, despite still having active intent to finish the last in That One Series, haha. It's been ten years and my writing has definitely matured since I was active on the Skyrim Kink Meme. xP

But I also remind myself that I was at the time also writing it in like 10-minute bursts while I proctored exams for undergrads and whatnot, not taking myself seriously at all, so....

💞 Who's your comfort character?

Hannibal fucking Lecter, at this point, I think. :P (Will Graham is my discomfort (affectionate) character; his bad headspaces are a little too relatable for me sometimes.)

In terms of previous/older fandoms, Aloth Corfiser (Pillars of Eternity) and Morrigan (Dragon Age) have been very comfortable characters for me to write, and I could pick either of them back up in a heartbeat.

💔 Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

Most of the deliberately-horrible things I've written were either in RP or for RP characters and only shared privately with my RP partner, but I definitely made myself cry writing I Recall (a Pillars of Eternity fic about accidentally getting the love of your life tortured to death and then trapped in a soul prison! so you know, normal stuff. Much less dark than that makes it sound, though, ironically).

okay so after some thinking ( and some discussion with wonderful friends ), i think i’ll turn this blog into a general video game blog rather than remaining solely bioware-centric. i’ll be going through my muse list today to add some muses ( and likely take away a few of my test muses, seeing that they’ve not gotten much attention + my muse is gone for them ) and i’ll update my rules doc to reflect the change. as for what new muses to expect, here are a few to look forward to:
