Warrior Cats Rewrite: Naming Conventions
Hi my internet was out all day yesterday and I spent the entire day brainstorming a Warriors rewrite, and I'll be starting by rewriting allegiances with new names moreso focused on the specific clans preferences
This is gonna be long and prolly super boring but. LoL
In all the clans, each cat gets their "true" name once they become apprenticed. This dates back to a tradition made by Skystar (or cloud sky) where he tested cats before finding them worthy of a name which he would give. This has changed to kits only getting names once they're apprentices. This is the case for most clans, but some leaders still use Skystar's rule and only name them once they've proven themselves
Each clan has certain naming conventions, which I'll leave under the cut
Thunderclan:
Thunderclan prioritizes strength, they honor the warriors they deem strong with names that are equal in strength. There's pretty much a hierarchy in names in this case, miscellaneous stuff (eg colors, prey animals) < trees/plants < natural occurrences (fire, lightning, storm) < predators (ESPECIALLY big cats, which are seen as a sign of strength)
For suffixes, the most common have to do with appearances (eg stripe or tail) but some deemed worthy are given a suffix honoring them in some way (claw/Fang are common to resemble strength)
Suffixes like "heart" are seen as weak in thunderclan, and most cats will look down on cats with so called "weak" suffixes or prefixes
Examples of names:
Bluefur (common)
Tigerclaw (denotes strength)
Lionfang (denotes strength)
Fireheart (looked down upon as weak)
ShadowClan:
Usually are named after specific strengths (eg brave, swift, strong, etc), they prioritize less on strength and more on individual's specific abilities. They also honor dark colors, so will often be named things like dark/black/night (these kinds of dark prefixes are often seen as a negative thing by thunderclan cats due to their low opinions of shadowclan)
Examples of names:
Blackfoot (common)
Runningbrook (denotes a fast brain, always working)
Riverclan:
Focuses more on a softer and kinder, more diplomatic angle. Often use suffixes like heart or pool, rarely things like claw or fang.
They also prefer things that can be found near rivers, mist, water, willow, vole, etc
Examples of Names:
Rainpool (common)
Willowheart (denotes being good at diplomacy and being kind hearted)
Blackclaw (seen as dishonorable, brutish)
Windclan:
Windclan loves to name themselves after things found in the sky, they see themselves as closest to starclan (having the clearest view of the sky out of all the clans, and being closest to the moonstone)
For another clan to be named something like a bird or something in the sky (eg clouds or sun)
Back when tunnelers existed, their was a divide of sky and land names, with prospective tunneled being named after land animals or plants, while runners being named after things in the sky
Examples of Names:
Rabbitflight (was gonna be a tunneler but ended up a runner)
Hopflight (somewhat common name)
Morningflower (common name)
Other stuff, leaders are given a title instead of having their names changed. The ONLY time when the names changes is when an apprentice becomes a warrior.
Thunderclan leader title: Spark (example: spark blue)
Shadowclan leader title: shade (example: shade black)
Riverclan leader title: stream (example: stream rain)
Windclan leader title: breeze (breeze rabbit)
Most cats refer to the leaders using their title, only those close to the leader is usually seen using their true name.
Skyclan isn't talked about here cuz it's incredibly different and there are no naming conventions, they're just crazy LoL

*✧・゚:* the three clans of Cliff Island *✧・゚:*
PineClan 🌲
PineClan, the northernmost Clan on the island, is sheltered in the cradle of the mountains that separate the unclaimed territory from the Clans. Their vast territory is covered with tall pine and birch trees, their coastline entirely cliff. Their border with MeadowClan is interrupted by the marsh and the gathering pond. Their base camp is at the foot of one of their tall mountains, and they prosper under the wise leadership of Owlstar and Vineleg.
SaltClan 🌊
SaltClan claims the majority of Cliff Island’s southern shore. Most of their territory is made up of their mixed forest and rocky beaches. Their border with MeadowClan is at the very edge of the meadow, and they are the only clan who does not touch the neutral pond and marsh. They are the only clan that regularly swims, and their camp is in the center of the forest. Their leader and deputy, Bearstar and Pikepool, have been in position for a very long time and are well known for their leadership skills.
MeadowClan 🌾
MeadowClan claims the entirety of the island’s western shore, and their territory is primarily made up of a gigantic meadow and moorland. They border the marsh and pond, along with PineClan. Their base camp is hidden within the tall grass of the meadow. The mountain nearest to them, in the unclaimed territory, is the home of the Moonspring. Their young leader, Sunstar, is well known for his ruthless ambition and loner origins.
