Mexican artist Saturnino Herrán (1887-1918) was a painter, draftsman, teacher, illustrator, who also revived the art of the mural in Mexico. In his short life he was a pioneer, and an innovator, in the way he fused modern Mexican art with Classical European aesthetics.

there is something so special about falling in love with artists and creators who are dead, their work is done, there’s nothing new, their oeuvre can be examined as a crystallized whole, but you can still learn more about them as people and then revisit their work and see it differently. and if they died too young or too suddenly there’s also that bittersweet feeling of knowing that their life was cut short but here you are, so many years later, still connecting with them and being influenced by them in real time. idk i just think it’s such a lovely part of being human y’know
