Simca 1100, 1967. Among the first unibody cars to offer the now industry standard transversely mounted engine and front-wheel drive, with all-around independent suspension, disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. The 1100 was an early mainstream hatchback with folding rear seats for maximum space utilisation and practicality. The car was an instant sales success across Europe and is said to have influenced Volkswagen's board who were contemplating the future of their mostly rear engined/aircooled model range. The 1100 refers to the car’s position within the Simca range rather than its cubic capacity, it was available with engines of 944, 1118, and 1294cc. Its success was a factor in influencing Chrysler to up their shareholding in the Société Industrielle de Mécanique et Carrosserie Automobile (Simca) to a point where they took full control of the company.

J’ai honte!

Ce matin, dans mon lit, je crois que j’ai poussé un petit cri en me réveillant, une drôle de sensation entre les jambes, et surtout, une petite flaque sur mes cuisses et sur les draps. Ce n’est pas du pipi, c’est un peu collant. Mon zizi est encore un peu dur. J’espère que maman ne va pas voir la tâche sur mes draps.

Je me lève, il y a école aujourd’hui. Depuis la rentrée, je suis au collège, tout neuf, plusieurs bâtiments tout rectangulaires de trois étages, bleu et blanc.

Maman a acheté du Nesquik pour mon petit déjeuner, avant c’était toujours du Van Houten, je crois que je préférais avant. Trois tartines beurrées et de la confiture de fraises. Un coup de brosse à dents rapide, car j’aime pas trop ça et direction le garage pour sortir le mini-vélo que papa a rafistolé après l’avoir récupéré chez ma grand mère.

Dans mon sac à dos en cuir, il y a mes cahiers, livres et trousses. Au collège, on fait des mathématiques modernes, je n’aime pas du tout ça, alors que j’aime bien le calcul mental, mais ça n’a rien à voir. Je crois que je n’aime pas l’école, car je n’attends qu’une chose, la récréation.

Là je sors mon tac-tac, un nouveau jeu où il faut taper deux boules, mais on se détruit les poignets avec. C’est aussi la première année où je suis en classe avec des filles. Devant moi, il y a Véronique, elle est heureuse, ça fait une semaine qu’elle met un soutien-gorge, comme mes sœurs.

À midi, je repars manger à la maison. Il reste du poulet du dimanche.

Puis retour à l’école. Sport cet après-midi. Course sur le stade et grimper à la corde. Je suis nul à ça.

Papa a acheté une nouvelle voiture, une Simca 1100. Maman râle parce qu’il ne fait que de rouler avec et l’essence coûte cher. Moi ça me fait rire. La R8, c’est l’abruti qui traîne avec ma sœur qui l’a achetée.

Le soir après le supplice des devoirs, on va faire les fous avec Patrick et Thierry en vélo dans les chemins de la forêt. Évidemment, je rentre sale comme un cochon, il va falloir passer du temps à se débarbouiller dans l’évier de la cuisine, et subir les moqueries des frangines. On a le droit de prendre un bain que le samedi.

Après le dîner, j’ai pas le droit de regarder la télé, à part le samedi. A 9 heures, direction la chambre que je partage avec ma sœur la plus jeune, mais qui a le droit de se coucher plus tard.

J’entends PopCorn à la télé, c’est chouette cette musique. Je sors le catalogue de la redoute que j’ai caché dans mon armoire pour regarder les femmes en soutien-gorge et culotte. Ça me fait durcir le zizi. C’est drôle, parce que quand je vois maman en soutien-gorge, ça fait pas pareil.

La tâche sur les draps à séché, c’est tout raide maintenant, on dirait une carte. Maman a rien dit, elle a pas dû la voir en faisant le lit. Mais j’aimais bien la sensation que ça m’a fait, j’aimerais bien que ça recommence demain matin ou même ce soir... Peut-être que je deviens grand! On est quand même en 1972.

Simca 1100 Saharienne, 1968, by Heuliez. A convertible version of the 1100 hatchback presented at the Paris Motor Show on the Heuliez stand. Because the boot was as open as the interior the Saharienne was more or less a convertible pick-up. However Simca decided to keep the roof on so the Heuliez project went no further

Het Groothandelsgebouw of Groot Handelsgebouw is een bedrijfsverzamelgebouw aan het Stationsplein, naast Station Rotterdam Centraal. Het gebouw is een rijksmonument, ontworpen door architecten H.A. Maaskant en Ir. W. van Tijen. Groothandelsgebouw is zoals de naam in origine werd geschreven. Het was daarmee een "gebouw voor de groothandel". Begin 21ste eeuw vertrokken de groothandelaren naar de rand van de stad en transformeerde het gebouw naar een multifunctioneel bedrijfsverzamelgebouw.

Simca was een Frans automerk. De naam is een acroniem van Société Industrielle de Mécanique et de Carrosserie Automobile; een autofabriek die in 1934 te Nanterre werd opgericht door Enrico Teodoro Pigozzi (Henri Pigozzi).

Onder het merk Simca zijn heel wat bijzonder succesvolle auto's geproduceerd. In de jaren 50 boekte Simca successen met de Aronde, een goede middenklasser, en de Vedette, een grote limousine. Ook in de jaren 60 had Simca een kaskraker in huis: de Simca 1000, een kleine en wendbare wagen (drievolumenmodel) die veel ruimte bood. In de sportuitvoering (Rallye 1000 in drie uitvoeringen, zie foto) was het een haast onverslaanbare rallywagen in zijn klasse, naast de coupévariant bekend als Simca 1000 coupé. De jaren 70 boden in de kleinere middenklasse de Simca 1100, samen met de Renault 16 een van de eerste werkelijke hatchbacks op de markt. In de grotere middenklasse was er de Simca 1300/1500, opgevolgd door de 1301/1501. Dit waren grote sedans of stationwagons (Tourist genoemd).
