actually i dont think ive mentioned my impulse headcanon here so im gonna talk about it

does anyone else remember season seven? where impulse said "i think i'm human", then laughed it off as a joke? well that line lives in my brain rent free. he thinks hes human. but hes not sure.

and really, why would he be? he was summoned. he eats amethysts. he seems to be drawn towards totems, and he likes to sort items (literally invented the item sorter). what else fits that?

totems come from evokers. vexes are summonable. allays duplicate when given amethyst, and they also love to sort. impulse feels like something related to them.

vexes and allays are like. minecraft fae. impulse.... is a changeling.

hes human shaped, but not quite the same. he thinks hes human. he grew up with humans and never knew he was anything else. but there is something off about him, some traits that betray his true nature. back in season seven, he didnt know. he was starting to question it. i wonder if he knows by now.

and if hes a changeling, i wonder who he replaced.

i’m imagining the opening of 2x6 as an immediate continuation of the end of the last episode, ed and stede just walking and talking together, and then without thinking about it they make it into the captain’s cabin before they realize. it’s nighttime. it’s BED time. oh. um. well. i’ll just- no you don’t have to- no? well, i mean. if you want. i don’t see why taking it slow means either of us have to be uncomfortable- no of course not, i mean when you put it like that- and smash cut to the two of them lying in stede’s bed with almost the entire mattress in between them, totally still, totally silent. right, well. goodnight, then. goodnight. & then there’s some commotion as one or both of them turns away or tries to get comfortable because jesus fucking christ. but then it’s quiet again, and we’re looking at stede’s face with the smallest little dawning smile on it :^) then WHAM we hear ed fall out of the bed onto the floor. cut to one of the crew members (i vote pete) on the level below startling awake, and then turning over like for fuck’s sake as we hear ed’s groaning, stede’s oh god, edward, and the fucking bell still jingling.

in horticulture, pot sizes are measured in either diameter of the pot or volume of soil in the pot. so in the US, that's inches or gallons.

I'm always deeply surprised by how many people can't visually determine how many inches something is. Please measure your own hand and use that as a rough visual guide for the rest of your life. You're welcome.

The episode "Face/Off Pt. 3" is a classic combination of AniTV having some plot ideas with fascinating potential... and then executing those ideas so badly the show is nigh-unwatchable.

Various Animorphs are running around the yeerk pool, (Rachel is in Tobias's brain as a yeerk to defeat the Gleet Biofilter, speaking of cool ideas that got wasted) in the season finale. Jake drags Tom into a back room, and when the controllers break down the door, there are two identical copies of Tom standing there. It's kinda cool that the audience also doesn't know which one's Tom and which is Jake, because both of them immediately start shouting about how the other one is an imposter and the controllers should shoot that guy.

For the rest of the episode — which switches to focus on how Marco collapses the entire yeerk pool cavern by pulling down a single ceiling tile and throwing it against a pillar (go figure) — there are two copies of Tom running around. There's some dramatic tension when we see one of the Toms get crushed to death by falling rubble and don't know if Jake just died, as well as in a later scene where one of the Toms walks in on Cassie mid-morph. That Tom demorphs into Jake, has the honestly kinda funny line "Phew! My parents were about thirty seconds away from having a set of identical twins." Original flavor Tom is dead in the basement, but that's fine, because the Animorphs are off to a dance party. Also, Tom's back two episodes later with no explanation because Melissa Chapman needs a boyfriend. Sigh. So much potential, so badly wasted.
