27, What causes them to feel dread?

OOHH. hmmm... potential loss of control, loss of agency. when he thinks he has everything all figured out and set up and some little thing does wrong and he is forced to wait and see if the house of cards will stabilize or fall apart.

when someone gets to close and sees his true self, not the many masks he wears. someone speaking truth to his innermost heart. he fears people understanding him, dreads when they say something that hits to close, causing him to question if they see though his lies.

29, Do they usually live up to their own ideals?

this is a fascinating question for Cecio, because at his core, he prides himself on his lack of ideals, of his lack of consistent want for anything other than power. ideals and dreams are something he realized the fault of long ago <- man and i take the piss out of Rametto for being the emo one

his ultimate goal is to hold power enough that he can do whatever he wants. he only partially lives up to that goal.

but that's a boring answer<3 i want to make him scream and hate that other people know this<3

many years ago, when he was just a young teenager. Cecio had Dreams. he had ambitions. he wanted to make his community a better place. he wanted to go to law school through scholarship, and then become a defense attorney. he would defend the people in his community, doing pro bono & cheap work to help people suffering the criminalization of poverty, help defend the targets of a corrupt system that preys on the weak, instead of those that deserve it.

he has failed. utterly and completely. he has to deride his younger self as an ignorant fool who didn't know the foolishness of dreams, but in truth? he doesn't want to face just how far hes fallen, just how much that little boy he was would hate to see whats become of him.

he can lie to himself that he does good with his power, but no matter what he does, it will never make up for the bad he does, the harm he perpetrates, all in the name of his selfish desire to survive and be more than just a victim.

WOTR is a similar story, except its a young Cecio saying he will follow the law, be good and just, and then suffering under the pressure of those ideals. he also fails, so spectacularly that he is stripped of the holy powers bestowed upon him as a paladin of Iomedae. he failed, but it was failure to live up to rigid ideals, and hes better off having discarded them, or so he tells himself. so in many ways its the same and opposite.
