* NEW PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT * 13th Gen is co-producing NARROW PATH TO HAPPINESS, a feature documentary that tells the love story of Gergo and Lenard - a young gay Romani couple from a remote village in Hungary who have a dream so absurd that it seems impossible: making a musical film based on their lives.
Learn more / watch the trailer: 👉 https://bit.ly/3ylwqLA
Brought to you by Makabor Studio, the film is directed by Kata Olah and produced by Bori Csukás, a fabulous mother-daughter team.
For context, this beautiful queer film has been made against all odds as the far-right Hungarian government has become increasingly authoritarian and hostile towards LGBTQ+ people. Not surprisingly, no one in Hungary will fund this project. Full stop. So, we are activating our networks in the USA and elsewhere to help get this film finished and out into the world in 2023! ❤️🏳️‍🌈🎬
We're working with The Center for Independent Documentary on our U.S. fundraising efforts, so all donations are tax-deductible.
NOTE: This film has already done extremely well at a number of top-tier non-fiction markets and co-pro/pitch events, including Hot Docs Deal Makers, and won prizes at both Thessaloniki International Film Festival's Agora Doc Market and When East Meets West in Trieste.

The film Under the Sky of Damascus by exiled Syrian filmmakers Heba Khaled, Talal Derki and Ali Wajeeh won the International Competition Golden Alexander at the 25th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, TiDF.
Under the Sky of Damascus follows five young Syrian women, Farah, Eliana, Inana, Souhir, and Grace, who want to produce a play based on individual women’s stories.
They record stories from actresses to factory workers to stay-at-home mothers; what emerges are stories of abuse, blackmail, and even imprisonment at the hands of husbands, brothers, fathers, employers and powerful officials who use their patriarchal power to keep them trapped without access to justice.
The film has secured a place in the selection shortlist for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film.
The awards ceremony took place under the shadow of the deadly train accident on February 28 that claimed the lives of 57 people. The opening and closing ceremonies and all festival events were canceled as a sign of respect for the victims.
“In these difficult moments we experience, wishing to provide the audience with the chance to discover Greek films that touch upon issues and concerns shared by all of us, we extend the time window for the online screenings of the films taking part in the sections Platform and From screen to Screen (online.filmfestival.gr),” a press release issued by the TiDF said.
The Silver Alexander, which is accompanied by a 5,000-euro cash prize, went to the documentary Who I Am Not by Tünde Skovrán, which is about a South African beauty queen who plunges into an identity crisis after finding out she is intersex.  A Special Mention was bestowed on Narrow Path to Happiness by Kata Oláh, a film about a gay gypsy couple living in Hungary.
TiDF was one of the first film festivals to host a Podcast Competition section, exploring the affinities of this new genre with cinema. The Best Podcast Award, accompanied by a 2,000-euro cash prize, was won by From a Wonder to a Trauma by Constantinos Vrettos, about a mother who lost her child.

New Post has been published on http://www.tempi-dispari.it/2020/06/01/sqizo-il-film-doc-su-louis-wolfson-in-prima-assoluta-al-biografilm-festival/
– e culminato, anni dopo, in amicizia.
DUCCIO FABBRI è attivo come aiuto regista e regista negli Stati Uniti e in Italia.

Film Friday: 5 movie selections of the week!
Tumblr media
The movies in this week's Film Friday mix genres like science fiction, action comedy, thrill, and adventure drama comedy. Get ready to make your weekend worthwhile by watching some of the best movies that WhatsOn editors have chosen for you. 1. Amsterdam The 2022 period comedy-thriller movie Amsterdam was written, produced, and directed by David O. Russell. The international cast, which includes Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Andrea Riseborough, Taylor Swift, and others, is led by Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington. The plot centers on three friends—a doctor, a nurse, and a lawyer—who are implicated in the enigmatic death of a retired U.S. general and get caught up in the Business Plot, a 1933 political conspiracy in the United States. On October 7, 2022, it was made available in the US by 20th Century Studios. https://youtu.be/GLs2xxM0e78 2. Halloween Ends The 2022 American slasher movie Halloween Ends was written by Chris Bernier, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and David Gordon Green. It is the conclusion of the trilogy of follow-up movies that started with the 2018 film and is the sequel to Halloween Kills (2021), the thirteenth entry in the Halloween franchise. This trilogy's concluding film features a terrifying end to the Michael Myers and Laurie Strode saga. The final installment of David Gordon Green's Halloween sequel trilogy, in which Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode battles Michael Myers for the last time—presumably—pulls into second place, not far behind Black Adam. Halloween Ends had its world premiere on October 11, 2022 at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles before Universal Pictures distributed it in theaters nationwide on October 14, 2022. https://youtu.be/s0vtbxLa-N8 3. Eternal Spring In 2022, Jason Loftus' Canadian documentary, titled Eternal Spring (Chinese :), will be released. The film Doctor G follows Uday Gupta's comical tribulations as the only male student in the gynecology department. His hesitancy causes mayhem, confusion, humor, and ultimately, a strong sense of brotherhood among his pupils. On October 14, 2022, it was released in theaters. https://youtu.be/XJrRrMCEmp8 5.
Bibi Fadlalla - documentairemaker
