This was an amazing first, a dance number from an Indian film, nominated for Best Song, performed at the 2023 Oscars, and subsequently winning. Listen to the normally dull audience start to lose their minds as the song progresses.
i genuinely wonder how much he drank to be able to do a SLUT DROP?? LIKE NOBODY TOLD ME HE WAS ABLE TO DO THAT. i'm such a raging booming homosexual i wish to be there dancing with him.
Now that EEAAO has won a bunch of oscars some people are tryna say its overrated and not actually that good and I'd just like to say that it is in fact that fucking good
Only 1 woman of color has won the Oscar for Best Leading Actress in 95 years. Halle Berry for Monster’s Ball in 2002, 21 years ago. 14 Black women, one child of color have been nominated in 95 years. Numbers don’t lie. 1954- Dorothy Dandridge for Carmen Jones. 1972- Cicely Tyson for Sounder. 1972- Diana Ross for Lady Sings the Blues. 1974- Diahann Carroll for Claudine. 1985- Whoopi Goldberg for The Color Purple. 1993- Angela Bassett for What’s Love Got to Do with It. 2001- Halle Berry for Monster’s Ball. 2009- Gabourey Sidibe for Precious. 2011- Viola Davis for The Help. 2012- Quvenzhane Wallis for Beasts of the Southern Wild. 2016- Ruth Negga for Loving. 2019- Cynthia Erivo for Harriet. 2020- Andra Day for The United States vs. Billie Holliday. 2020- Viola Davis for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The fact, Chinonye Chukwu’s beautifully made, historically relevant and important film, Till and The Woman King got no nominations speaks volumes. Till about a mother whose horrific loss sparked the civil rights movement. Representation matters, and the Academy failed again to recognize powerful Black female lead films with uncomfortable truths. #oscars2023 #lackofrepresentation #till #chinonyechukwu #dorothydandridge #carmenjones #cicelytyson #sounder #dianaross #ladysingstheblues #diahanncarroll #claudine #whoopigoldberg #thecolorpurple #angelabassett #whatslovegottodowithit #halleberry @halleberry #gaboureysidibe #precious @violadavis #violadavis #quvenzhanéwallis #beastsofthesouthernwild @iamquvenzhane #ruthnegga #loving #cynthiaerivo @cynthiaerivo #harriet #andraday #theusvsbillieholiday #violadavis #maraineysblackbottom #danielledeadwylersnubbed https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn2BYEru8Jw/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
HISTORY IN THE MAKING. Michelle Yeoh’s win, the first asian woman ever to win Best Actress, had me in tears. It made me think of Anna May Wong, the first Asian American film star in Old Hollywood and the obstacles she had to endure in her career. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer refused to consider her for the leading role in the film version of Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth. They instead cast Luise Rainer to play it in yellowface. Some poetic justice was done last night. I know some of you also hoped for Blanchett, who I also think was astonishing in TAR, so my heart was parted in two, really. What did you think of Oscar night? #Oscars #oscars2023 #michelleyeoh #annamaywong #alejandromogolloart https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpu7QKHoqw5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Hayden Christensen is our favorite and "Best Actor".
So the Oscars aired tonight and I thought I'd add a couple of Hayden's critically acclaimed films. One day we hope he will hold that Oscar (and many other awards) in his hands.
Shattered Glass - Nominated for a Golden Globe (Peter Sarsgaard), Independent Spirit Awards in several categories and Satellite Award's Best Actor nom for Hayden.
Life As A House - Nominated for a Golden Globe and a Screen Actor's Guild Award for Best Actor for Hayden.
