Starsaber (idw) w/ tyrest?

         OKAY SO I’VE BEEN TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE FANDOM WITH THIS SHIP ON TWITTER,

like actually.  if you dive through my twitter (@helenadorfd), it’s plastered for months with various ramblings about the ship, i’ve posted ship art on my art blog here (@helenadorf) and on twitter, and if you look on the ship tag on ao3, one of the two fics there is by me (a not-great first attempt at porn) and the other a gift for me by a friend of mine for secret santa.

my basis for shipping the two of them is this:  tyrest is a powerful, intelligent, clever mech.  ignoring my personal headcanons about star saber’s tastes in men and his past, his way with words is clearly something special;  he’s basically the only character that star saber has actual respect for, seen on-panel as his only polite interaction with, well, anybody, brief as it is.  their belief systems also line up very well, between star saber’s very narrow descriptions of faith  (“real faith HURTS.  it twists like a knife in your spark and forces you to act.”)  and tyrest’s actions during remain in light, between the killswitch and the titan gate.  tyrest acts, and is pious in a way that is compatible with star saber’s belief system.

it’s also likely they were one another’s only company for a fair amount of time, depending on when in relation to the start of MTMTE that crystal city fell.  dai atlas says it’s because of star saber betraying the circle of light, which implies that it was pre-planned between tyrest and star saber.  it’s already known that tyrest was working with lockdown before he was shot by skids, as it’s the whole reason prowl even sent him and getaway–  but lockdown is a mercenary, a business relationship.  as a new convert to religion  (as minimus ambus says, in disbelief of what tyrest is saying about sin, “you’re the least religious person i know”), there’s potential for much more between tyrest and star saber.

and aside from being spiritually and emotionally compatible as two serious, dignified mechs, they also have immense potential as a power couple–  one where tyrest is in a unique position to talk star saber down if he chooses to before an enemy, and star saber is actually inclined to obey.  but, if tyrest chooses to let star saber act, he will do so unhesitatingly, believing in tyrest’s judgment as supported by god.

and this is before we get to the spoiler of the end of lost light, which DEFINITELY makes tyrest VERY MUCH star saber’s type.

i don’t really anticipate finding a tyrest anytime soon that will be willing to ship–  i think the one that’s currently around, aside from being low-activity, is already in a ship with someone?  and tyrest is sadly not a super popular character.  so, i’ve been relegating my adoration of this ship to fanfic and fanart, and have a much more polished and better fic in the works to slow burn how i see their relationship.  as it stands with star saber in the context of this rp blog, he does still find tyrest very attractive and he still respects him very much, but theirs is strictly a professional relationship unless otherwise plotted or written with a tyrest rper.

EDIT:  let’s also not neglect tyrest’s side of things, as a mech who just converted to a religion he never believed in prior, has been implicitly lonely since the aequitas trials (he supposedly went silent after them), and has been struggling with immense guilt.  star saber, for all that he’s a piece of shit, does have good intentions--  muddied as they are by his being a piece of shit.  tyrest might appreciate someone who can look after him and physically protect him, and the king/knight aesthetic potential is so very good.

A couple of recent arrivals - Doll Family-H "Aequitas’ Blade" Mechanic head in grey skin, an eyepiece from the same, and a very sweet Chovi head from Studio Naiko. I put him on what I think is an old Happydoll/Angel Region Fair body - the neck is a bit short and thin and I need to add a bunch of hot glue to make him sit better on it, but otherwise it looks cute!

The eyepiece is intended as a scouter for my Vegeta BJD but I’m a little annoyed that the eyepiece resin turned out to be white instead of clear as shown in the promo photos... :/ Not sure how I’m going to make a non-opaque scouter work.

I looove the robot head. It’s like a mix between Genji from Overwatch and Briareos from Appleseed (and a bunch of other things I’m sure). He’s really cool but for some reason they put straight edges in his magnetic ‘ear’ antennae to make it so you can’t position them. That’s gotta go!

He’s destined for this Impldoll Nelson body as soon as I can locate and unpack him from his box... I want to style him a bit differently, loose casual yet futuristic clothes, maybe dye the body grey as well. Then again maybe a slimmer body would be a nicer aesthetic...

first off i just wanted to say i love all the pixel links in your bio! they’re super cute and a nice way to have links so they aren’t just text o: ANYWAY onto florence!!! she’s so gorgeous, i love her colour scheme. the starwood veil is a perfect piece for her, the wingpiece is the same colour as the little reflections in her crystal :3 and i love her accent! is it a custom? because it definitely looks like it was made for her, i think the low roundhorns are my favourite part, i wish we had apparel like that haha

i’m such a sucker for pretty light dragons lol, the aesthetic is always so GOOD and i love yellow. aequitas’ bio made me just a lil sad, but i’m trying not to be because i feel like it’s a sort of happy ending for this sweet girl. the halo is a pretty fitting item both apparel AND lorewise haha

a quiet, mysterious boy........i was pleasantly surprised to see that i accidentally found your progen, i think O: i love his colours, the spring tert was a doozy but the spines look fitting bc they’re nearly a golden colour haha, bless spines tbh. absolute tert lifesaver. kanrik is very handsome, and i think that his accent helps give off the regal vibe you were going for
