not long after kanna aged up, gaining the good sense of humor trait, i decided to grab akito and the quadruplets from boarding school - i aged akito up bc it felt like he'd been a teen for waaaaay to long - he got the avant garde trait and the lifetime wish master of the arts, just like lily. (he aged up without a shirt in his everyday outfit - i did at least give him one) i also gave the quads a little makeover! in order, honoka, ayumu, daiki, and chika!

speaking of lily, i decided to remove her and asahi from the household with akito and the quadruplets - so now the house is just kokomi, val, jun, and kanna. this means they wont be coming with us to twinbrook, but it's a lot better the micromanaging those two as well.

A3! Hyodo Kumon - Translation [SSR] “Firsts” are Fun (2/3)

Kumon: Hm~~~~…

Azami: You’ve been frettin’ for a while.

Kumon: Well, you see…

Guy: What is the matter?

Kumon: Ah, Guy-san. Um, I’m sorta torn right now.

Guy: What are you worried about?

Azami: It’s about his skateboard design. Apparently, Kazunari-san’s gonna design some based on everyone’s ideas. But I guess he can’t make up his mind about his request.

Guy: I see. So that’s it.

Kumon: I know Kazu-san’s gonna make it really cool and hip no matter what request he gets… But when I’m asked what kinda design I want, I’m just at a loss~.

Azami: I mean, it’s not like I don’t get how you feel.

Guy: The skateboard isn’t a mere prop. You’re really going to use it. If you skate with your very own board, then you will grow attached to it. And I think that will also connect with your role study as a skateboarder.

Azami: Ridin’ a board you like is bound to be fun, right?

Guy: Indeed. I hope you can come up with a great design while discussing with Miyoshi and the other cast members.

Kumon: Hehe, good point. Thanks, you two! I’ll give it some more thought!

-pause-

Kumon: (…I’ve been thinking about it this whole time. But in the end, I still haven’t been able to settle on anything.) (The deadline Director told us about is coming up, so I gotta decide…!) Ah, Taichi-san!

Taichi: Kyu-chan?

Kumon: Say, Taichi-san. Have you chosen what design you’ll use for your skateboard?

Taichi: Yep, it’s totally settled!

Kumon: Really! What’s the design like?

Taichi: I’m gonna put Akapoyo-kun on it!

Kumon: Taichi-san and Akapoyo-kun really do go hand-in-hand, huh?

Taichi: He’s my favourite character after all~. Hey, but that’s not all!

Kumon: What do you mean?

Taichi: Akapoyo-kun’s always cute and popping… and that’s one thing I like about him. But this time I wanna do something different—something chic and cool!

Kumon: Ooh…!

Taichi: I bet that gap between a cool vibe and a cute character would hit! And I think it fits with Touma’s image. I wanna show my cool and dashing side along with my board on stage~!

Kumon: That sounds awesome! I can’t wait to see it! …I see. I could have a character like Akapoyo-kun drawn on mine too. Akito skates with Touma, and there’s lots of scenes where he and Touma hold their skateboards together… Alright… I’ve got it!

Estado sentimental: Bakuman

Este manga escrito por Tsugumi Oba e ilustrado por Takeshi Obata se publicó entre 2008 y 2012 en la revista Shonen Jump, serializado por la editorial Shueisha y recopilado en 20 volúmenes. En Argentina lo publicó la editorial Ivrea.

Bakuman está por cumplir en abril de este año, diez años desde su finalización pero creo que sigue siendo una obra con mucha vigencia.

Es difícil no conocer nada de este manga tan popular que tuvo su anime y su película live-action, pero para no adelantar información, diremos que el argumento nace con dos adolescentes de 14 años que cursan el último año de la secundaria baja y se encuentran en el inicio de los exámenes que determinarán su futuro para el ingreso a la preparatoria (secundaria alta). Ambos sueñan con ser mangakas: Mashiro Moritaka y Takagi Akito.

Como todo Shonen que se precie, nuestros protagonistas tendrán sus objetos amorosos: Azuki y Miyoshi. Y en el caso de Mashiro, esto tendrá una mayor implicancia en las razones para convertirse en mangaka.

En el primer volumen se nos presentan los protagonistas de esta historia y su contexto. Sus visiones sobre el manga y las razones por las cuáles quieren convertirse en mangakas. A esto se le sumará la vida escolar: los exámenes, las distintas escuelas, los mandatos sociales sobre la educación y el trabajo. Y algo importante, la relación de Mashiro y Azuki que nos presentarán un amor idealizado.

Bakuman es un manga que hay que leer, sobre todo si recién comienzas a leer mangas. No sólo porque te explican muchos términos referentes en el lenguaje manga, sino también se convierte en una guía de obras, géneros y autores por leer. Con el correr de las aventuras de nuestros héroes, iremos aprendiendo a la par de ellos. La estructura del Shonen explicada por dos adolescentes que quieren convertirse en los mejores de la Shonen Jump. Narrado con mucha belleza por Oba. El arte de Obata tampoco se queda atrás, y resuelve el dibujo con una representación realista que adquiere los rasgos de la caricatura para acentuar los momentos humorísticos, absurdos o vergonzosos.

Una obra que reflexiona sobre la historia del manga, sobre la demografía, sobre los arquetipos y los tópicos, y sobre la difícil vida que llevan los mangakas. Bakuman es un estado del alma.
