FRANKENSTEIN’S MONSTER this plight is the simplest of them all: you did not ask for this. you were never given a choice. no part of yourself feels human, just a collection of traits you've picked up from mirroring anyone you could, even the people you meet through a television screen. it's alienating to live that way- yet someone has called you the alienating one. maybe too many people to count. maybe they treated you so uncomfortably inhuman that it's all you can understand now, or you've dug yourself into such a deep hole in an attempt to keep safe that you can't remember a person living in the home of your body at all. being alive is confusing and painful and lonely and loud but living is all there is to being human- you're already there. just take air into your lungs and breathe. close your eyes and picture a beautiful sky. you made that. you painted that yourself.

THE HARBINGER the harbingers have been through fire. you've got the scars to show for it. some people say harbingers are jaded- scary, even, to people who don't understand that the harbinger has seen the edge of the world and survived it. but being the harbinger means you're cursed to watch younger, brighter eyes fall for the same traps you did. trying to help isn't enough for you; you know what they're getting themselves into, and you want to protect them the way no one ever protected you, so why won't they just listen? it's frustrating. it's terrifying. no one should have to live through what you did, and i hope you know that you can't protect everyone but it's damn noble of you to try. it's not your job to save the world but i hope you know you've already made a difference to everyone who has taken your words to heart.

THE ONE WHO OPENED THE DOOR you turn the door handle. you call out, "who's there?" and the crowd has the audacity to groan, to get frustrated with you. as if the gift of hindsight was something you had. how the hell were you supposed to know you were born into a horror movie? no one bothered to tell you. say, if instead this was an action film, or a fantasy, would they still be telling you how silly of a mistake it was to press further on your quest? they would've commended you for your bravery. you thought you were going to be saving a princess in a tower, not getting stabbed in the back by a killer in the shadows. how is that fair? it isn't, and none of that was ever your fault. it is not wrong to believe things are good. your trust, your optimism, it shouldn't ever be mistaken for ignorance or stupidity. we need more people who open doors. how else are any of us gonna move forward?

THE VAMPIRE it is the loneliest day of a vampire's life, the first time they look into a mirror and see their reflection missing. drinking blood sucks too, don't get me wrong, but as a vampire you had to learn to hide from the sunlight, from your family, all your friends, because you were unavoidably different now and you didn't know how to explain that to them in a way they would understand. you could get stranger's blood in bursts, but what is life when you can't know someone for longer than the night lasts? you left everything behind because it was easier than trying to tell them. i just hope you know you're not the only vampire out there, and that there exist people who will understand your situation without a word. they'll sit with you in the dark for as long as you'll need them to.

THE WERE-WOLF there's something inside a werewolf  that's sharp, thorns and barbs coiling up in tight knots of vine even  on their best days. halfway through a conversation, you'll forget your  happiness and the pain comes back in a flash. you never meant to, but  the sharpness has done harm on your behalf. it's defensive. it's  leftover artillery from a battle you spent so long fighting that it  still doesn't feel like it's truly over, does it? you want so badly to  be soft. to take the hand that you are offered instead of baring your  teeth. and it might be hard to believe, but you are soft. you're the  softest one out there. it'll just take a while to untangle those vines  enough to know that very little is often life-or-death, and not  everything touches to hurt.  

THE FINAL GIRL the final girl comes out the other  end of trauma alive- or, they were supposed to. honestly, you're not so  sure you're really alive anymore. you saw the same hurt take those you  were closest to while everyone paraded your bruises as bravery, as  strength, as if you're the hero. and it hurts. you're tired and you  don't want to have to be brave anymore. whatever you went through, it  changed so much of who you were that you're still getting used to the  person you see in the mirror. you didn't have a say in any of it, but  you're here now, and that's gotta count for something. you'll make it  count for something. but first, you need to let yourself find rest.

Bdoubleo100: 6/10 pretty average, covered up by the person on the end but he's just reaching his arm out. Not too special but decent.

Xizuma: 8/10 "yippee" energy but not 😁 yippee, more chill than that, basically he just looks like he's cheering for something. I like it.

xBCrafted: 7/10 only criticism is why are him and Doc holding that thing like that? It makes it very hard for xb to use his other hand.

DocM77: 7/10 pretty much the same as xb, still a bit selfish of him to be trapping xbs arm like that.

Welsknight: 8/10 looks like he's dancing but very chill. We can't all be busting out the big guns and grooving the night away. Nice work.

Summary: While on the run from Empire troops, Jedi padawan Y/N comes to find out that hyper-driving in a compromised craft can have some major setbacks when she discovers not only is on a new planet but a whole new galaxy as well...

Part I Part II

The Baron was a man of heavy weight and heavy glutton, he liked food and power with women waiting for him. He liked the power that Geidi Prime gave him, but most of all, he liked the power that controlling Spice, no controlling Arrakis gave him.

This is why he felt anger towards the Emperor for forcing his soldiers off-planet and handing his cash cow to the damned soft-hearted Duke Leto and his house.

He hated House Atredies with a passion and he could recall the countless interactions he had with Duke Leto, the heated arguments he had with the man.

Which is why he felt happy when the Emperor proposed the slaying of House Atreides, the slaughtering of those damned fools.

"There is a rumor floating around", one of his advisors said, "of a girl from not of this galaxy that the Duke has taken in, someone with some extraordinary abilities. The Emperor wants her alive, especially since the na-Duke is said to be quite taken with the girl."

The Baron grumbled as the sound of the Sardaukar's throaty chanting filled his ears.

It was another hot day on Arrakis, the dry heat of the planet making Y/N wonder why Paul and other members of House Atreides were wearing all-black. Y/N had been offered a loose, beige dress that she wore with a scarf covering that concealed her head and neck from the harshness of the sun that came down on the planet.

"Tell me more about Arrakis", she said to Paul as he led her outside. "I feel like we've only ever talked about our home planets."

"Everything I learned is from the archives", Paul began as she noticed a place of worship ahead of them. "The people who inhabit the planet call themselves Fremen, they're the only ones to ever to successfully live here. The sandstorms here are brutal, they ravage and destroy anything that crosses them... maybe not a sandworm, but anything yes."

Paul spoke in a gentle yet enthusiastic voice that made her stomach flop around and she felt her ears begin to get hot. She was embarrassed at the way he was stirring feelings, forbidden feelings in her as they walked along the compound.

"They value water here the most and the Spice they are constantly exposed to gives them blue eyes. Not much is known about them since they prefer to remain to remain remote."

"And you said Spice is what is needed to travel?" she said, Paul nodded.

"We rely a lot on Spice, which is why it is so unheard of that you traveled here without Spice", Paul clarified. "The Emperor gave my father control of this planet to find peace with the Fremen People but before, House Harkonnen controlled it."

Y/N saw inside the temple many people praying; religion wasn't something uncommon back home, there were so many from the Mandolorians to the Sith but she had never really seen such worship before.

"What are they praying to?" she asked, gesturing to the people.

"To Shai-Hulud", Paul said as a warm breeze came by, "it is also a Fremen custom to spit at one's feet with how they value water."

"We greet and say goodbye by saying 'may the force be with you'", she said with a small grin.

She missed home despite the intrigue this galaxy brought, although she wondered how much was about the galaxy than it was her interest and growing intrigue with Paul.

Jedi law dictated that love or any form of romantic feelings were forbidden yet Y/N could recall a conversation she had with Anakin about the law.

"It's an odd law", Anakin had said, "love is the strongest form of the Force yet it can also be your weakness."

Y/N wondered about it as she walked the halls of the compound; Paul had been pulled away by his mother, Lady Jessica as she said that the Reverend Mother was wishing to speak to Paul. It gave her time to contemplate on her growing feelings for Paul with BB following behind, letting out a little chirp every so often.

Lady Jessica had been pleasant to her, the woman reminding her of some of the older Jedi Masters with her way of speech and stance, but Y/N had managed to piece together that it had to be from strict upbringings and belief of the Bene Gesserit.

"Ah, F/N", a familiar voice called out to her and turning around, she saw it was the Duke, himself.

"Oh, Duke Leto", she said, "how nice it is to see you. Thought you'd be caught up doing Duke stuff."

Duke Leto chuckled as he said, "I'm on my way to find Lady Jessica."

"She took Paul to meet with some Reverend woman?" Y/N said with a questioning tone.

Leto sucked in a breath and nodded, Y/N wondered just how this Bene Gesserit ideology worked. It was nothing she had ever seen before back home and seeing the way the Bene Gesserit sisters carried themselves intimidated her just a bit by how their eyes singularly focused on you as if they were truly trying to dissect you right down to your core.

She just hoped that she wasn't about to fall into their cross hairs.

Another night came to Arrakis with cool air and a beautiful night sky that always kept reminding her of Tatoonie as BB charged in the corner. Her hair was down again and she was in another loose muslin nightgown to help with the heat of the planet; she had the doors closed along with the windows as she sat in her room, watching a hologram archival documentary on the planet.

The Duke was pleasant to talk to, he was knowledgeable and kind, and for some reason reminded her of Obi-Wan.

A knock, a familiar knock echoed in her room and she tried to suppress a smile as she knew it was Paul.

Walking to the door, it slid open to reveal the young na-Duke but she could see something was troubling his mind a bit as she greeted him in.

"Something troubling you, Paul?"

Paul looked at her as they sat on the small sofa that was in the room.

"Your way of believing is so simple yet so understandable", Paul breathed, "my mother was supposed to birth a girl, it's how it's been for eons with the Bene Gesserit."

"Why?" she frowned.

"I think... it's so they could eventually get their Kwisatz Haderach", Paul voiced, Y/N frowned. "It's their Messiah, a male heir that possesses the abilities of the Bene Gesserit."

"And you think it's you?"

"I hope it's not me."

She remembered Paul's earlier explanations of the abilities of the Bene Gesserit sisters and their use of something he called 'the Voice', which reminded her of the way the Force could be used to manipulate weak minds.

Paul was quiet for a moment before he scooted closer to her and she felt her breath get caught a bit in her throat as she stared at him.

"I have these... visions", Paul said, staring into her eyes. "I dream of things that I'm never too sure of and for months, I dreamed of a girl... I dreamed of you."

Y/N felt heat rushing through her as the sound of the hologram documentary rang quietly in the room.

"And ever since you've arrived, it's felt like I've been living a dream... a dream that I never want to wake up from."

And before she knew it, she felt Paul's lips against hers in a soft, gentle kiss and her heart raced as she felt a surge of electricity go through her...

So many thoughts were running through her mind in that quick moment and maybe it was the instant connection she had felt towards Paul, maybe it was some odd corruption from the Sith side of the Force that made her entangle her fingers through his dark, curly hair and push her body against his lithe frame.

But all she knew at the moment was that Paul felt like home.

They all came out for the encore at the same time and Josh made a comment about all of his outfit changes and how that made him a diva

Literally everyone in the pit lost their minds when the Starcatcher banner came down and then Meeting the Master started to play over the speakers at the end of the show

Mama and Papa Kiszka and the Rival Sons were on the wing of the stage during the encore and Mama Kiszka was clapping a bunch while Papa Kiszka looked super proud while he watched Jake shred away

They both also came around to the front of the stage to see the Starcatcher banner when it came down and they looked impressed

Jake blew lots of kisses (and he was on fire tonight)

We had to sing the first verse to Highway Tune because Josh forgot it

What a way to end the tour. Holy cow. I’ve officially ascended to the stars as one 💫

Let's (re)Read The Eye of the World! Chapter 48: The Blight

Concept art by Filip Štorch and shrunk down just a tad or five, rendering his signature illegible. This reread compresses lots of things - for example, I fit spoilers for the whole of The Wheel of Time into every post! If you don't like that, it's best to be somewhere else.

This chapter gives us our last new chapter icon of the book: another tree at night, but this one twisted and bent over. It's got kind of a look of a flipped Aes Sedai symbol, with the tree making up the upside down fang (appropriate since saidin got the corruption and all) while trying to obscure the upside down flame of the moon. I don't think this symbolism ever means anything, but it's fun. This kind of icon means "Blight", or occasionally the worst of the things from it.

A large steel mirror, carefully turned down, away from the sun, now, glittered atop each tower below the high iron cup where signal fires could be lit when the sun did not shine. The signal would be flashed, to towers further from the Border, and by those to still others, and so relayed to the heartland fortresses, from where the lances would ride to turn back the raid. Were times normal, they would.

I can't help but feel that this kind of set up is actually less effective than signal fires would be. You have to figure out where the sun is, hope there's no clouds in the way or that it's not too early or late in the day to catch the light, angle the mirror appropriately, and hope the people at the other side manage to catch the glint of the tower and are also able to relay it down the line. Much simpler to just have the signal fires which can be lit at any time and are easily protected from the rain. Am I crazy?

If you liked fighting Trollocs so much, you shouldn't have become a Darkfriend. This is the Wheel punishing you, bub. All the other squadron commanders are gonna fight just fine cuz they're not filthy traitors to existence.

Is Jordan just describing the movements of armies here, or is he creating the imagery of the Great Serpent itself preparing to strike against those who fight to slay it?

It must be the Blight, but the land was the same.

Rand's Shadowsense is about as refined now as it's ever going to be.

The Shadow can only corrupt what's already there - the land's the same, there's just something wrong with the area the Shadow's claimed.

“Flowers can kill in the Blight, and leaves maim. There’s a little thing called a Stick that likes to hide where the leaves are thickest, looking like its name, waiting for something to touch it. When something does, it bites. Not poison. The juice begins to digest the Stick’s prey for it. The only thing that can save you is to cut off the arm or leg that was bitten. But a Stick won’t bite unless you touch it. Other things in the Blight will.”

Good to know that stick bugs are thriving in the post-apocalypse due to Aginor's horrible experiments.

At least when Mat's making noises right now it's cuz he's throwing up. Get it together, Perrin. It ain't like there's wolves in the area to be encouraging you to focus on your powers.

“No two among the Ogier have found it in exactly the same place. The Green Man seems to be found where he is needed. But it has always been beyond the high passes. They are treacherous, the high passes, and haunted by creatures of the Dark One.”

Really this just makes the Green Man sound more and more like a Fantastica immigrant, since a key point of the world of The Neverending Story was that it couldn't be mapped because places didn't have spatially defined relations to one another, but instead travelers ended up where they needed to be going. I wonder if Jordan ever read the book.

For one brief instant the sun’s rays caught the shattered tops, and Rand’s breath stilled. Not hills. The broken remnants of seven towers. He was not sure if anyone else had seen it; the sight was gone as quickly as it came.

Remember what I was saying about the inefficiency of the mirror towers?

Nothing that big could live in a lake that size. Those couldn’t have been hands on those tentacles. They couldn’t have been.

Not gonna lie, the fact that our heroes never had to fight this bizarre aquatic Shadowspawn (or really any of the horrifying beasts of the far Blight) is one of the biggest disappointments of the series. And honestly as much as I'd like to blame my usual scapegoat, it's not as if Jordan did much with the Blight after this book himself.

“It is a simple thing,” she said, “a bending, so any eye looking at us sees around us, instead. We cannot have the eyes that will be out there seeing our lights tonight, and the Blight is no place to be in the dark.”

Moiraine says that it's a simple thing, but we don't actually see it get used that much. Rand picks up the trick in the mid-series, but he is of course the extreme end of the scale. I don't recall any other big instances of it getting used, which make me think that it's a simple weave geometrically but demanding of so much Fire and Air that Moiraine is one of the few modern Aes Sedai who can cast it.

“There,” Egwene said as if it were settled. “I know. I will make you my Warder, when I’m an Aes Sedai. You would like being a Warder, wouldn’t you? My Warder?” She sounded sure, but he saw the question in her eyes. She wanted an answer, needed it. “I’d like being your Warder,” he said. She’s not for you, nor you for her. Why did Min have to tell me that?

Probably because if you were hellbent on keeping Egwene's love no matter what you'd end up dying halfway through book two. Gotta love Moiraine's, "I can find shit for all of you to do in Tar Valon" claim too. That's "not technically lying" for "You all can spend five minutes getting instructions on where to go next as we march you lot through the Prophecies, then leave immediately."

The Warder was still awake, seated not far from him with his sword across his knees, watching the night. To Rand’s surprise, so was Nynaeve.

Not gonna lie, I kinda wish that every book had had a subplot that Rand (or one of the other six major characters) was completely oblivious to until right before the climax when suddenly all the subtext comes rushing to the forefront. It would have been fun.

“I will never shame you.” The gentle tone, like a caress, sounded odd to Rand’s ears in the Warder’s voice, but it made Nynaeve’s eyes brighten. “I will hate the man you choose because he is not me, and love him if he makes you smile. No woman deserves the sure knowledge of widow’s black as her brideprice, you least of all.” He set the untouched cup on the ground and rose. “I must check the horses.” Nynaeve remained there, kneeling, after he had gone. Sleep or no, Rand closed his eyes. He did not think the Wisdom would like it if he watched her cry.

The saddest thing is, at the end of the day, Nynaeve and Lan will marry and she will have the sure knowledge of widow's black. She's going to outlive him by centuries.

The other sad stuff of course includes: Lan's spent his whole life making himself miserable for no reason (he's still an amazing fighter after he and Nynaeve bang it out), he's making Nynaeve miserable for that same lack of reason, and Rand and Nynaeve don't have a relationship where he's able to comfort her in any meaningful way, so the best he can do for her is pretend that he's asleep.

Depressing chapter end, but don't worry: next time things get scary instead!

a note on wyll n his father, no banner, many spoilers under the cut for act 3

abuse is complicated. inherently, i respect the duke and his decisions for his own people. he wanted to protect baldur’s gate from devils and he has problems with devils far beyond wyll. he wanted wyll to be strong, he wanted will to be brave, he wanted wyll to be righteous, but if wyll’s understanding of justice is flawed—the duke’s is even moreso. he’s strict and unrelenting, he kicked his seventeen year old child out n the first time he sees him again not mind controlled he calls him a monster despite the fact wyll just saved his life.

on a related note: if you choose to save karlach, wyll will forever look like a monster to himself, his father, n everyone around him, to the point the baldurs gate guards say he looks like a “gnarled tiefling” n turn him away from not just his home but his birthright. epic diversity cringefail, in a world without real life racism, this man will face fantasy racism forever n hate himself for it except when given ur friendship n kindness.

but i do wonder why baldurian tavs can talk about the flaming fists being overblown blowhards, u know what i mean? IS duke ravengard really as heroic as wyll believes? or does wyll just believe in the mythos his father created, and long to create his own “bootstraps” thru hard work he can never earn the same way his father did bc he grew up so privileged?

as soon as wyll n the duke r reunited, he talks about relief n forgiveness- but also, EXPECTATIONS. immediatley he has the new fear of expectations. hes happy, but he doesn’t want those expectations. which tells me his father’s expectations r too high and easy to crumble.

something i AM sure of tho is that the duke goes from strict anger to loving kindness in a heartbeat, and is EXTREMELY dramatic, something that would definitely be hard for wyll to grow up around. in one moment, his father would call him the apple if his eye, n love how popular wyll was with the ladies n gentlemen of the ballrooms. in the next, he spends too much time lollygagging n not enough time training. i do think sometimes in adfition the duke was too busy for his son, n without a mother, wyll spent a lot of time on his own as a child, daydreaming about slaying monsters (only to become one wwwaaah)

in my mind, wyll is a bit of a dark, lost prince, but even that has nuance and complexity in that his father is such a fleshed our character in a political sense so connected to the world n lore. i love that about wyll!

Comics read this past week:

Marvel Comics:

The Incredible Hulk (1968) #281

This issue was published in December 1982, according to the Marvel Wiki. It was written by Bill Mantlo, penciled by Sal Buscema, and inked by Joe Sinnott.

In this issue there’s a scene where Bruce transforms into the Hulk and the narration describes, “The body of Bruce Banner is gone, but his mind remains, to guide the pulverizing powerhouse known as the Incredible Hulk!” But in the next panel Bruce phrases the transformation slightly differently, not that it’s his mind that’s guiding the Hulk’s body, but that he is the Hulk now and no longer Bruce, saying, “The current coursing through the Quinjet is unpleasant, but it’s not numbing the Hulk as it did Bruce Banner!”

There’s also a moment where Bruce says, “I was a monster! I deserved to be hunted and hounded,” referring to the time before he’d taken control of the Hulk’s body. This made me think of the scene in issue #269 where Bruce referred to the Hulk’s rampages as his rampages and Betty pushed back against that, arguing, “If anyone can find a cure for your condition, it’s you! But you’ll never succeed if you start identifying yourself with the Hulk! You’ll lose before you’ve begun- and you’ll lose me, as well,” which is very much what has happened.

Timely Publications:

the Captain America stories in Captain America Comics (1941) #13-14

In this batch of 4 Captain America stories I went from April 1942 to May 1942, according to the issue cover dates. All of the stories were 20 pages.

Captain America Comics #13 was the first issue, and so “Captain America and the League of the Unicorn” (writer unknown; penciled by Al Avison; inked by Syd Shores) was the first story, that reflected that the United States had joined WWII after Pearl Harbor. The cover of the issue shows Captain America punching out a Japanese general and saying, “You started it! Now- we’ll finish it!” It also has a “Remember Pearl Harbor” symbol and a banner that says “All out for America issue!” The Grand Comics Database synopsis for the story reads: “A railroad boss poses as King Zong, leader of the League of Unicorns, an oriental criminal gang that wear helmets with spikes on their foreheads to slay enemies. Zong hopes to profit from sowing discord between China and the Allies, but Cap and Bucky defeat him and hand him over to the police.” Despite the focus on positive relations between the U.S. and China, the Chinese ally characters are also drawn as racist caricatures, which was typical of this era’s comics. Though the leader of the Japanese villains ended up secretly being a white man, which is unusual to me; I don’t believe I’ve seen that before in my Golden Age comics readings. In the story the heroes use language such as oriental, slant-eyes, and nippon back-stabber. The Sentinels of Liberty secret club news page also refers to that the U.S. has joined WWII. Steve’s message opens with, “We meet again this month with grave purpose and determination!” And Bucky’s opens, “Well, guys, we’re in the war all right!”

The story “Captain America Battles the Horde of the Vulture” (writer unknown; penciled by Al Avison; inked by Syd Shores and George Klein) in Captain America Comics #14 has Captain America battling against a Native American tribe, who he realizes are really Japanese spies “using the name of the first Americans to hide behind while they attack” with no evidence other than that that’s what seems the most probable to him. And he turns out to be right, though their leader again turns out to secretly be a white man that was “an American turned traitor for the Japs with great promises of wealth for him if he succeeded as a spy!” The closing narration of the story reads, “This story has a lesson! No telling where the enemy of America may be lurking! Captain America urges every citizen to check on suspicious characters and happenings, and help with the war!” The villain in the next story of the issue, “Captain America and the Petals of Doom” (writer unknown; penciled by Al Avison; inked by Syd Shores and George Klein), was a white Nazi spy posing as an army captain, with no mention of the Japanese in this story. Also noting that I liked Betsy Ross’ use in this story.

DC Comics:

Superman (2023) #12

This issue was written by Joshua Williams, penciled by David Baldeón, and inked by Norm Rapmund. It was published this month, March 2024.

Nothing too interesting happened with Lena in this issue. I did like seeing her working alongside Superman. Also notably her grandmother got defeated in this issue. This book isn’t a chore to follow or anything, but I’m really not at all into what it’s doing with Superman and Lex Luthor. I am looking forward to this upcoming “House of Brainiac” storyline that’s crossing over with Action Comics. I’ve been waiting for the Brainiac stuff that was teased back when Lena joined the book to come to fruition.

Batman (2016) #1-6 and #9-24 and Annual #1 and The Flash (2016) #21-22

These issues were published across June 2016 to June 2017, according to the DC Wiki. This was me beginning to reread Tom King’s Batman run, which I first read a few years ago. Of note is that I have since then read Flashpoint: Batman - Knight of Vengeance (2011), Flashpoint (2011), Watchmen (1986), and Doomsday Clock (2017), and Infinite Frontier (2021)

Issues #1-6 were the “I am Gotham” storyline. All but the last issue, the epilogue of the arc, were penciled by David Finch. Issue #6, the epilogue, was penciled by Ivan Reis. Issue #1 was inked by Matt Banning. Issue #2 was inked by Matt Banning and Danny Miki. Issue #3 was inked by Danny Miki. Issue #4 was inked by Sandra Hope and Matt Banning. Issue #5 was inked by David Finch, Sandra Hope, Matt Banning, and Scott Hanna. And issue #6 was inked by Joe Prado, Oclair Albert, and Scott Hanna. I skipped the “Night of the Monster Men” storyline, which crossed over with Nightwing (2016) and Detective Comics (2011).

Issues #9-13 were the “I am Suicide” storyline. All were penciled by Mikel Janín, who also solely inked issues #9-10 and #13. Hugo Petrus worked on the inking with him for issues #11-12. Issues #14-15 were the “Rooftops” storyline. Both issues were drawn by Mitch Gerads. Issues #16-20 were the “I am Bane” storyline. All were penciled by David Finch. Issue #16 was inked by David Finch. Issues #17-18 were inked by Danny Miki. Issue #19 was inked by Danny Miki, Trevor Scott, and Sandra Hope. And issue #20 was inked by Danny Miki and Trevor Scott.

Issues #21-22 and The Flash issues were “The Button” storyline. Both Batman issues were drawn by Jason Fabok. The first includes a special thanks to Geoff Johns-the writer of Doomsday Clock (2018), which spun out of this arc- and Joshua Williamson, and the second includes a special thanks to Geoff Johns and credits Joshua Williamson and Tom King as co-plotters and Joshua Williamson as the scripter. Both of The Flash issues were drawn by Howard Porter. And both were written by Joshua Williamson and include special thanks to Geoff Johns and Tom King.

Issues #23 and #24 were both single issue stories, the former a Batman and Swamp Thing team-up and the latter titled “Every Epilogue is a Prelude.” Issue #23 was drawn by Mitch Gerads. And issue #24 was half penciled by David Finch and inked by Danny Miki and half penciled by Clay Mann and inked by Seth Mann. The Annual was an anthology book. It had a story written by Tom King and drawn by David Finch, a story written by Scott Snyder and Ray Fawkes and drawn by Declan Shalvey, a story written by Paul Dini and drawn by Neal Adams, a story written by Steve Orlando and drawn by Riley Rossmo, and a story written by Scott Bryan Wilson and drawn by Bilquis Evely.

Up next is the “War of Jokes and Riddles” storyline, which I remember not liking, but so far I’ve really loved rereading this book. Tom King’s approach to Batman really works for me.

Henry Clover paralleling both Thomas Wayne and Bruce as a parent, his speech in issue #3 about how growing up in Gotham “You stop seeing it as something other, and start seeing it as just more of yourself,” how “Its joys are your joys. Its miseries are your miseries,” and why he chose to raise his children there, “instead of retching, I breath it in deeper. And I smile. And I shout it good and loud… [No.]” And then Bruce declaring, in issue #5, “You want to kill Gotham?! For being weak! For being afraid! For failing again and again and again! I am Gotham. Kill me.”

Selina Kyle revealing her childhood fascination with a painting of Bruce’s “perfect” family at the Thomas and Martha Wayne Home for the Boys and Girls of Gotham in issue #10, that she thinks, “you’ll always be the little boy in the picture. You’ll always want to be the little boy in the picture.” And her hinging their relationship on that, while “When we kiss, the pain goes away,” “When your moment came, when they destroyed your childhood… you used all that will, all that loss, to make a better world,” and she didn’t, so they could only stay together in the event that “Someday, maybe you, too, will forget the better world. Maybe you, too, will stop feeling the love left behind and just feel left behind.”

Bruce admitting in issue #12, only to Catwoman, in a letter he wrote before this book takes place, something he believes only she understands, that his decision to become Batman was made while self-harming as a child and considering suicide and is defined that way. Him using the language that “My father was classically dignified, my mother was classically kind,” and then describing his mindset as a child as, “I was pain. That’s all I was. Everything else, every chance given to me, every promise I’d made, was pain. And what use is pain? What use is being just pain? It’s not dignified. It’s not kind. And if it’s not dignified, and if it’s not kind, then maybe it’s not worth anything.”

Bruce telling Selena in issue #14, after she’d spend an evening helping him as Batman, “I don’t like what we did. I had to do what we did.” Him feeling in issue #15, after she’d left after they’d had a good time together, that “as if it belonged to her” she’d stolen “the night.”

The parallels between Bruce and Bane in issue #18, particularly Bruce coming home with Alfred after his parents’ deaths being compared to Bane being put in the jail cell to be left to die, and Bruce calling the extended ‘Batfamily’ characters his “true strength” being aligned with a scene of Bane asking for an unsafe amount of Venom.

Bruce remembering in issue #20 how he almost died in issue #1 until the newcomer superheroes Gotham and Gotham Girl intervened, “You don’t see the impossible- You see the possibility no one else sees. So you ran through every scenario, every permutation, every way out. And every option led to the same outcome. This was your death. Coming up fast.” Him bragging, or complaining, “You know how many times I’ve heard that? ‘Rest in peace, Batman!’ ‘There’s no escape, Batman!’ ‘Time to die, Batman!’ ‘Every night. Over, and over, and over. For so many years. ‘This is the end, Batman!’ Every. Damn. Night. And yet… I’m still here.” Him him defining being Batman at the end of the issue as that the declaration “I’m Batman” essentially means that he never gives up, and so he isn’t defeatable. And Bruce’s hallucination of his mother, who speaks to him using the framing that him being Batman is a way for him to die, to whom he tells, “The girl needed help. So I helped her. That’s all it is. That’s all it’s ever been.”

Bruce briefly reuniting with his father in issue #22, a storyline which worked for me before, but had a stronger effect on me with the context of his portrayal in Flashpoint: Batman - Knight of Vengeance (2011) and Flashpoint (2011). Thomas’ described mindset back then, “the way it was supposed to be. So that Bruce would live… And I would die. As would this nightmare of a world,” the fact that he had been refusing to try to help prevent his world’s destruction before he even met Barry and learned about the original timeline and that there was a possibility of saving Bruce, and his mindset when he first appears in this book where he was disappointed that his world didn’t end when he thought it would and was preparing to kill himself (with a bomb to take out some of his enemies as well). And the fact that Martha had been horrified to find out that Bruce grew up to be Batman, like Thomas, and Thomas telling Bruce, “Don’t be Batman. Find happiness. Please. You don’t have to do this. Don’t do it for me. Don’t do it for your mother. Be a father for your son in a way I never could be for you. Let the Batman die with me,” and then Bruce not quitting as Batman, but hesitating to go out as Batman for once afterwards in The Flash #22.

And Thomas refusing to be saved in issue #22, but also choosing not to kill himself, instead ‘rising’ into the light as his world is finally destroyed, and the message Bruce receives from Swamp Thing in issue #23 but then is muddled/rescinded- “You have to tell me- tell me my mother and father are falling back into life!”

And Bruce admitting in issue #24 that, “I do this, I do all this, and I can’t… I don’t think I can stop. […] I do this. But I’m not… happy. […] I try. I do this to be happy. I try, and I fail.”

And I love Gotham Girl- her parallel but distinct origin story from Bruce in issue #3, what she brings out in Bruce, particularly in issue #24, and her whole concept as a character works really well for me on its own.

I remember when I first read this series I was struck by the limited presence of Damian Wayne, even though he might have been off in another book, he was still Bruce’s youngest child and who I would assume still needs Bruce’s parenting. Like, when Bruce went on his suicide mission to Santa Prisca for however long that was, I was wondering where Damian was and how that would affect him. I’m curious to see how that is or isn’t portrayed going forward, since Thomas put pressure on Bruce to not be Batman and be an involved parent instead, and the effect that we’ve seen of that final message so far- Bruce hesitating to go out as Batman and proposing to Selina- hasn’t involved his children yet.

Also, it’s pretty clear that Bruce’s happiness and relationship with Selina is being portrayed as antithetical to him being Batman, or at least him being Batman in the way he is now. It’s not that the way this book is going makes it definitive that he and Selina can’t get married, because I suppose it’s possible for a change in what being a superhero means for his life and mental state, but it’s not surprising that they didn’t go through with it.

Seeing the two instances where Bruce refers to Damian as his son, as opposed to referring to all of the former sidekicks as his children, reminded me of some of the controversy around this book. Batman is not a character I’m precious about; I can engage with and enjoy different contradictory portrayals of him. And, also, because he is so over-published, I am really not sympathetic to Batman fans being dissatisfied. I don’t remember if Bruce feeling differently about, say, Dick and Jason in comparison to Damian is ever delved into further in this book, but if it did that would be interesting to me and not something I have a stance against writing about. The criticism that it was wrong to portray Bruce as unhappy and made happy through his relationship with Selina because he had children and so should have had satisfaction in life through them really bothers me. I don’t think anyone, men or women, are doing something wrong by being depressed when they have children. I phrase that like that because I’m more used to that unreasonable expectation being put on women. And I don’t think that finding happiness in an adult relationship specifically is immoral either.

Also, I am looking forward to Thomas Wayne’s return and his reaction to learning about Bruce’s sidekicks, which weren’t ever explained to him in Flashpoint (2011) or “The Button” storyline, as I have gotten into sidekick drama since last reading this book.

Fawcett Comics:

the Captain Marvel stories in Whiz Comics (1940) #89 and Captain Marvel Adventures (1941) #76 and The Marvel Family (1945) #15

In this batch of 7 stories I read the Captain Marvel appearances published in September 1947, according to the issue cover dates. These stories ranged from 7 to 9 pages.

The story “Captain Marvel: Condemned to Die” in The Marvel Family #15 (written by Otto Binder; drawn by C.C. Beck) had Dr. Sivana’s most evil plot yet, to a very sad effect. He convinces Billy that Captain Marvel is a carrier for a dangerous plague and the risk that Billy will instinctively transform at some point and won’t be able to never turn into Captain Marvel again for the rest of his life is too high, so Billy has to die for the greater good. Billy is allotted one hour to say goodbye to his friends and make final arrangements, but he’s distraught all the while. His intense fear and grief are present the entire time. He breaks down and can’t enjoy his final hour, though he ultimately powers through to go and “take it like a man.” Sivana foils himself by prematurely cackling with glee while Billy was still alive in the gas chamber, but still.

Ok. Wow. Boys Planet. ZB1. Many thoughts.

Very happy for our 9 shiny boys! Unfortunately there was no 12 member lineup twist, I knew it wouldn’t happen but part of me thought just maybe it could lol.

Before I discuss the lineup I just wanna say it was so nice to see all the eliminated trainees. WOONGKI BOY!! Haruto!! Seunghwan (and the banner of his own face that he brought lol)!! ollie wonka with two functioning arms!! Wang Zihao!!WUMUTI TI TI TI!! The NINE.i boys!! Chen Kuan Rui, esp his reaction to Hao’s ranking!! And everyone else as well. Boys planet truly would not have been the same magical experience without all of them, even if they weren’t performing on the final stage.

Im so sad for Keita, Jay and Park Hanbin especially. I really hope they get scooped up by wealthy, well connected companies and continue on having successful careers in the kpop industry. I’d def be there to support them! pH-1 is already joking abt working with Keita on Instagram and even tho that’s obviously not a concrete promise of anything I’d love to see something happen between Keita and H1ghr Music lol.

I’m gonna go thru member by member now, in an attempt to organize my thoughts.

1. Zhang Hao

Holy shit !? Hao P1 !? Absolute slayage. I was so surprised. Tbh, this week I was stressing about how his rank might drop because of losing filler votes, but here he is ranked #1 :D congrats to him for making history as the first foreign center in produce/planet history!

2. Sung Hanbin <3

Mother is debuting!!! Not in P1, which was a twist, but still with a very high rank. This man has a really bright future ahead of him and I’m so happy that I get to support him along the way!

3. Seok Matthew

I was genuinely concerned as to whether or not he would debut, Matthew p03 had me gagged fr I was so happy for him. He’s such a ray of sunshine and has great chemistry with literally everyone he interacts with.

4. Ricky

The SCREAM that was SCRUMPT. Would not be surprised if my neighbors had called 911 honestly. So happy for him!! Honestly, it’s between him and Zhang Hao for my bias in the group. Ricky has grown on me immensely since I started watching the show, also I think he has the best fan edits in the whole fandom like not even just ZB1, of Boys Planet contestants in general. For some reason I feel like the group name really suits him? Like if u showed me a picture of Ricky and said “he’s in a group called ZB1” that would make sense.

5. Gunwook

yet ANOTHER pleasant surprise! I obviously knew he was in the conversation but I was expecting him to be up for like 8th or 9th, esp after he dropped in the 3rd ranking. He started the show with such a tough guy image, but he’s really such a softie and I love it.

6. Kim Taerae

Main vocal slay :) can’t wait to hear more of his high notes and see his big smile onstage. Also I feel like the new dark hair really brings an edge to his image that we haven’t seen before. He might be a reverse Gunwook, seeming very soft and cute at first but actually being tougher than anticipated lol. I was nervous for him after seeing he was 11th in the interim, but clearly the voters pulled thru.

7. Kim Gyuvin

I have not been the biggest Gyuvin fan in the past, but I gotta say he’s really growing on me. He’s like a big goofy puppy dog that can dance really well. His reactions to seeing the other trainees winning (especially Yujin) were so endearing! The other day I watched his en garde fancam on loop aksjfgh he does have a very interesting captivating energy and I appreciate that.

8. Kim Jiwoong

Our hyung <3 so happy for him, he’s been through so much with his previous debut but now he’s finally done it. It’s also nice to see someone who is so clearly openly supportive of the queer community in the final lineup. Not to say that the other trainees aren’t ofc, I think they r all allies (if not queer themselves), but like, jiwoong acting in BL and being friends with Holland, the literal only out k-pop idol, is a different kind of support that I’m happy to see. 9. Han Yujin

Our maknae :) seeing him drop so much was really surprising, for a moment I thought he wouldn’t make it tbh. I’m fairly neutral on him, I think he’s an amazing dancer and has so much potential, but if I’m being honest he wasn’t necessarily one of my picks. I’m not mad that he’s here by any means tho. I know ZB1 hasn’t even debuted yet so it’s kinda silly to be theorizing about what he’ll do after, but hes young, talented and popular enough that I think once they reach the end of the 2.5 year contract he’s gonna redebut and reach success all over again.

So, that’s it! Boys Planet is over! The lineup is announced! Zhang Hao, Sung Hanbin, Seok Matthew, Ricky, Gunwook, Taerae, Gyuvin, Jiwoong and Taerae. Our Bep1er- now officially known as ZEROBASEONE :D it feels so surreal, but I’m so excited to stan these boys.

Eyeless in Gaza

I was waiting for the elevator in one of our local hospitals when my phone started to vibrate last Tuesday afternoon with the news—reported as simple fact by the Bing-Microsoft news service that funnels breaking events into my personal news feed—that Israel had intentionally blown up a hospital in Gaza and killed 500 hospital staff and patients, including children. Then the elevator came and I got into it. By the time I got out on the ninth floor, the original story had been “confirmed” by the New York Times. So how could it not be true?

Two hours later, the original message was gone—magically withdrawn into thin air—and unretrievable. The original Times banner “Israeli Strike Kills Hundreds in Hospital, Palestinians Say” was also gone, replaced with the slightly (but only slightly) less inflammatory “At Least 500 Dead in Blast at Gaza Hospital, Palestinians Say.” But the damage was done. Not everybody who has an iPhone that features ongoing news alerts is as involved in news from Israel as I am. (Could anyone be? Maybe. But no one could be more emotionally and personally involved in the events of these last weeks.) And a fair number of them, I’m guessing, just quickly scanned the first headline, then filed it internally as yet one more terrible thing Israel has done to the innocents of Gaza. And so a scurrilous story—one that for me (and for anyone who knows as many IDF veterans as I do, and who has the respect for the IDF that it deserves) could not possibly be true—gains traction. By evening, the murder of these poor innocents was lighting up X, formerly Twitter, as though it were an established fact, as though it were a story featuring confirmed reality that only a willfully blind Zionist would even try to deny.

But, in fact, the story was not true. Or rather it was not true as reported. Yes, a terrible explosion killed hundreds at the al-Ahli hospital (also called the Baptist Hospital) in southern Gaza. And it is also true that all the victims appear to have been innocent civilians. But the IDF insists that it did not target that hospital and that, as far as they can tell, the damage was done by a missile intended by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to murder Israeli civilians that misfired and landed in Gaza not far from where it was launched. And they also noted that the IDF is bound by rules of combat that specifically forbid its servicepeople from slaying civilians indiscriminately. And then, shortly after that, the P.M., Bibi Netanyahu himself, issued his own statement on Twitter saying plainly and unambiguously that this was not the work of the IDF.

Later, the President of the United States said clearly that American intelligence supported Israel’s claim of non-involvement. Plus, the hospital, it turned out, was not “blown up” at all, but is still standing. Aerial photographs showed rocket shrapnel on the roofs of adjacent buildings. And then, later that night, Israel released an apparently undoctored recording of Hamas operatives more or less confirming the Israeli version of events. (The recording is in Arabic, but click here to hear it with English subtitles.) Even the Gazans themselves eventually pulled back from their initial inflammatory reports, no longer mentioning 500 dead but merely referring to unidentified “hundreds.”  But by then the damage was more than done. The Arab street was on fire. There were huge demonstrations in many Muslim capitals, including Istanbul, Amman, Baghdad, and Beirut. President el-Sisi of Egypt, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and King Abdullah II of Jordan cancelled their plans to meet with President Biden, apparently thinking that insulting him for not embracing the initial (and almost fully incorrect) version of the story was a rational plan forward. On home turf, our own Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) asserted unambiguously (but apparently fully falsely) that the Israelis had “bombed the Baptist Hospital and killed 500 Palestinians.” And Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) shamelessly referenced the incident as an Israeli war crime without a shred of evidence to support her vitriol.

To wave this whole incident away as yet another success, albeit a temporary one, of the Palestinian misinformation campaign against Israel would be very wrong, however. The tragedy here is fully real. These poor people fled south in the first place to avoid being caught in the crossfire if Israel ultimately decides to enter Gaza to find and free the 199 hostages being held by Hamas. I suppose they must have imagined they were safe, or safer, in the southern part of Gaza and safer still in a hospital, a place of refuge and healing. If it turns out that this was “just” an accident, that the jihadists trying to murder innocent Israelis accidentally ended up murdering innocent Palestinians, then that will be terrible enough and grimly ironic. But if it turns out that this was intentional, that Hamas did this to prompt—almost to force—el-Sisi, Abdullah, and Mahmoud Abbas publicly to disrespect President Biden by refusing to meet with him in the course of his trip to the Middle East, then the raw cynicism of the move will be almost too much to bear.

I want to think that this was an accident. What normal person wouldn’t? But what if this was intentional, if this actually was undertaken fully intentionally as a piece of grotesque political theater intended to upend President Biden’s visit to the region? To refer to the concept of blowing up a hospital to further political aims as bestial behavior would be an insult to the animal kingdom. But some part of me wonders if that isn’t precisely what’s happened. And, indeed, President Biden’s trip to underscore our nation’s support for Israel and to meet with the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and the PA—that may simply have been too clear a harbinger of a future featuring an alliance of leaders implacably opposed to the kind of barbarism for which Hamas stands for the Hamas leadership not to do whatever it was going to take to prevent from happening. And the fact that the Palestinian president was going to be included—for which invitation the price was surely going to be his willingness to join in a blanket condemnation of Hamas’s brutal incursion into Israel and the unimaginable destruction directed almost solely against innocent civilians that incursion brought in its wake—that just may have been too much for Hamas to swallow. I have no evidence of any of the above. But I am too much a student of history to wave the darkness in my heart away as merely depressive or necessarily delusional. Terrible things happen in the world. And they often happen fully intentionally.

And that brings me to my real point. The challenge facing me personally in the wake of his incident is to find it in my heart to set everything I know about the Middle East—about Hamas and about the IDF and about Israel itself—to set it all aside and to mourn the dead of al-Ahli. I am by nature a bit cynical, but I specifically do not want to bring politics or cynicism to my appraisal of this tragedy, of this disaster. The children who died in the hospital was no more deserving of their fate than the Jewish babies and children murdered in cold blood by Hamas two weekends ago. So to wave them away as “mere” collateral damage in a larger story to which they were tiny footnotes—that would require a level of callousness and insensitivity of which I want—even need—to think of myself as being incapable of sustaining.

Since Simchat Torah, thousands have died on both sides of the Israel-Gaza border. To look past the death of innocents should be an impossibility for all who fear God and revere the sanctity of human life. Many more will die as Israel does what it can to eradicate Hamas and, in so doing, to avenge the death of its citizens. Still others will die as Hamas descends to ever darker degrees of demonic depravity in its anti-Israeli rage and does whatever it thinks necessary to hurt Israel and put space between it and its allies. In the end, Hamas will surely be annihilated. Of that, I harbor no doubts at all. But to take pleasure in that thought without mourning the innocents of al-Ahli should be impossible for even the most ardent supporter of Israel. As well it is with respect to me personally: I ardently look forward to the day when terror is defeated once and for all, but I mourn for those innocents who died when that rocket landed on the hospital in which they were seeking healing and refuge, and I feel their loss as a stone in my heart. To feel otherwise would be to deny their humanity—and that is something no decent person should even be able to do, let alone wish to do.

So uh. I get the newest Imagine Dragons song stuck in my head, and suddenly I’m b u r s t i n g with ideas about Bill’s backstory, the history of the Titan Trappers, their relations to the Collector (and even some good old-fashioned speculation on how things might play out in the future if they made a return and showed up on the Isles) - allll kinds of stuff. As ya do.

I am planning to make an animatic with the song and these ideas (once I get a good but simple enough animation/editing program, figure out how to sync drawings to music; fun shtuff) but for now, you shall all be presented with a good old-fashioned infodump! :D

Backstory Headcanons

Bill comes from a place where the locals are fascinated by the Collector and question why the Titans are worshipped - also mistaking the Collector’s rather aggressive, chasing-and-throwing-things-oriented games he plays w/ the Titans as deliberately hunting them down and killing them. Bill always sort of felt like he was destined to do something big, and one day, at a young age, he came across the Collector’s disc. Upon realizing who he’s just found, Bill saw this as a massive opportunity.

The Collector explained that they were imprisoned, and needed Titan blood to be freed. So, Bill gathered a whole party of people from his (village? Idk) and set out to slay a Titan. They came across a young one and successfully took it down, leading to Bill realizing that these Titan guys aren’t invincible.

He took the Titan’s skull and wore it as a trophy, then went back to the Collector and freed them. As thanks, the star gremlin granted Bill longevity, and the two began to bond a bit, for a little while.

When King’s dad found out that the one who was known for accidentally killing Titans with his questionably hunter-and-prey-esque games (and insisted vehemently to play with King while the little guy hadn’t even hatched) was now being buddy-buddy with a guy who had deliberately organized the murder of a young Titan and now wears its skull, he put the Collector back into gay baby jail.

Once the news reached Bill (maybe by him crossing the now broken tablet he probably kept and feeling a flicker of their presence through it), he took this as proof that the Titans are not just unworthy of worship, but downright evil and must be purged. He abandoned his last shreds of decency and officially assembled the Titan Trappers under a banner of power-hungry lies and false hopes that the “Grand Huntsman” will bring glory to them all, with multiple generations eventually being able to finish off the Titans altogether, fully convinced that this is what the Collector wants.

Future-Event Speculation

Bill and the Titan Trappers find a way to get to the Boiling Isles. Unbeknownst to them, King and the Collector see them coming, and King stresses that they will definitely take him away if they find him, so the two hide. When night falls, Bill sends out a few small, stealthy search parties for King, leading one of them himself. His search party comes across King, at which point he orders the others to each go back and grab one of the other search parties to alert them and bring them back to the rest of the cult. Then, he swipes King himself. When the Collector finds King gone and realizes he’s been taken, they’re incensed. During his search, the deity comes across the Titan Trappers and lashes out at them, demanding to know where King is.

When Bill gets back w/ King and sees that the Collector is free and absolutely ravaging his cult, he takes this as a moment of triumph and reveals his lie, proclaiming that the Grand Huntsman is going to give glory only to him, as the original Titan Slayer and thus the “only worthy one”. The Collector descends and Bill obliviously lifts his arms in glee, thinking a blessing is on the way, only for the star child to strike him dead for stealing away their playmate.

AG Catch Up #2

(I'll mainly be talking about the interactions between AG and the other idol in attendance because the full show hasn't premiered yet)

Jungwoo, Sungchan, Shotaro and AG represented NCT at ISAC this year. Jungwoo was the only member who left early to go to 127's fan meeting in Japan

One banner that czennies's prepared congratulated AG on their Queendom win.

This year's ISAC is Hannah and Juno's first time competing in the festivities

According to NCTzen's in attendance, AG ran for the girl 4x100 m relay race and archery.

In previous years, Moxy has taken two gold medals for the 60m dash. This year she hoped to add to the collection.

At the end of both sports, AG won with a silver medal in the relay, a third gold medal for Moxy in the 60m race and a bronze in archery

Royalty met Royalty when Stray Kids and AG stopped and talked together. I.N and Moxy poked each other every time they passed by each other

Junhan from Xdinary Heroes has talked about being a fan of AG and hoped to meet them. In passing, the two groups bowed greeting each other. When the Xdinary member walk away, Junhan couldn't wipe the smile from his face

Nobody knew that Hannah was friends with any group but when she ran over and crashed in the arms of Seonghwa from Ateez, fans were shook.

Fans weren’t expecting AG to be the most social group in NCT when they have one of the most antisocial members in NCT. But the girls were going around talking to all the girl groups

Somehow Ateez and AG became like really good friends. The two groups sat together and played some games during the down periods

WooSan kept Moxy laughing during the archery portion

Aurora, Yunho and Mingi made the strangest trio. Aurora is so much shorter than they are. Aurora always making friends with the tall boys

AG walked out of Queendom with two medals and a whole list of new friends

Almost all the Queendom contestants had comebacks after the show was over

Moxy and Hannah both visited Kep1er during their Up! comeback. The two AG members filmed the Up challenge with Hikaru and Yeso

During her Queendom Vlive, Moxy reacted to all the groups comebacks

Hannah wished any NCTzen that were going to Brave Girls concert to have fun and to make sure they cheer loudly for them

One of the members of Loona thanked AG for sending snacks to the filming location for Flip That

Juno and Aurora danced to Loveade with Sinb from Viviz on the groups instagram

Super Show 9

You all know Moxy was attending SS9 no matter what. Moxy and her manager went to the last day in Korea.

Fans expected her to attend with the other SM idols in attendance but she actually met up with Yuqi from (g)i-dle.

The two completely forgot they are idols during the entire show. They danced and sang along. Moxy couldn't keep her eyes off Yesung during Ticky Tocky

Eunhyuck personally called Moxy out during the ending mnet.

"Someone came today that fans call my gummy twin. Moxy stand up!"

Eunhyuk asked if she enjoyed the show. Moxy responded with a thumbs up

Yuqi and Moxy got a picture with the boys after the show was over

Neo City The Link in Tokyo

The fans at the airport welcomed Moxy with banners saying, "Welcome Queen Moxy!"

Moxy collected enough flowers for a large bouquet before entering the car for 127

Moxy was on another level for this performance. She really wanted to give the fans in Japan all she had as an apology for missing so many performance because of Queendom

For Moxy's solo, She performed Ghost instead of You Don't Know Me (She performed this at the Seoul Concerts). She still slayed her Love On The Floor Solo. During it, Fans began to chant Queen in Japanese

Moxy cried during her individual mnet. She talked about the warm words for Japanese fans keeping her going during Queendom

"I've missed so many shows here for the fans here in Japan and for that I apologize. But I also thank you guys. I've seen your messages online. I really needed that. To hear that you understand and you still wish myself and AG well."

Before the show ended, 127 brought out a cake for Moxy to celebrate AG's queendom win with the fans. Moxy blowed out the candle at the top (Her wish was to perform in Japan with AG).

SMTOWN Concert in SUWON

At the concert, AG performed three times. They prepared Do It Like This, Cannonball and Emergncey

They first performed DILT and Cannonball with a mnet in-between.

When AG and Dream arrived at LAX dozens of screams met them. Hannah tired her hardest to wave at every fan who came to welcome them

Aurora’s dad, stepmom and siblings all came to see AG perform at their second Kcon

AG's first performance of the night was of Cannonball. Smoke and confetti shot out at the crowd when Moxy sang the opening line

The whole stadium light up lime green for the ladies of NCT. Fans furiously waving their nightsticks to the beat

The girls had a TON of energy. They were running around and interacting with the crowd. During the instrumental bridge, The girls ran down and took photos with the crowd closest to the stage

Curiously, The members would catch the attention of their managers then point to someone in the crowd. AG had their manager give out free AhGiBongs and batteries to Nctzens without lightsticks in the front couple of rows.

Later on, AG came back out in all white outfits accented with scarfs in their signature colors. The girls performed three more song chosen by fans on their twitter account (An AG tradition at this point!)

They started with Hit Me Up, an online AGzen favorite, and followed it up with Breakout.

For a small break, the girl did an mnet, thanking the fans for their warm congrats on their queendom win. Promising fans that the members wouldn't spend any more time on haters. That their sole focus would be on their fans, new and old

To end their time on stage the girls wanted to give the fan in LA a performance they couldn't get anywhere else so to end, they performed Emergency. Screams filled the arena as soon as the music hit. Fan caught Jisung and Chenle watching from the side

NCT Dream ended the night on a high. Attendees posted video of AG and members of Loona and WSJN dancing to Glitch Mode before going on stage for the send-off

The three AG members ran to the Dreamies capturing the members in hugs. The NCT members walked around saying hello to fans

That night, Aurora was on Bubble talking about meeting up with Loona again, Meeting the members of NMIXX and wishing they could have been at KCON longer.
