Omg... Ted Lasso fic? 👀👀👀 Roy or Jamie or Ted finding a scared tiny in the stadium... kiss
god damn it i really went fucking wild with this LOL but let's be honest, this was a long time coming. enjoy jamie and roy being soft for a tiny! 🥰
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You didn’t think anyone was up this early.
You knew how this worked. The players started filing in around 8 a.m. or so. The coaches wouldn’t be far behind. Around 9, they would all move out to the pitch to start training for the day. Usually, you started your initial scoping of the locker room before everyone got there, and you would take what you needed once they left.
Since when did Jamie start getting here at 6 a.m.?
You were kicking yourself for not even hearing him walk in. There you were, in his locker, going through his stuff and making notes of what would be useful to try and lug back to your little home later. Medical tape, shoelaces, hair products – he usually had it all. His locker was a gold mine.
Jamie was just looking for water, though. After running around London and doing Roy’s 4 a.m. training, he would arrive at the facility early to replenish and recharge before actually playing football. He was tired this morning, abnormally so. It had been a long month after learning total football on the fly, and all these early sessions were starting to get to him a bit.
He groggily sauntered into the weight room, feeling slightly guilty that he phoned in his last 20 or so minutes of running. He was fine, the team was playing fine, 20 minutes wasn’t going to do anything. He looked around everywhere for the water bottle he thought he had forgotten in here before realizing that he must have left it in his locker overnight.
That’s when he spotted you.
He blinked what had to be five times before concluding that no, this was real. Very real. There was a tiny person – not a mouse, not a bug, a person – crawling through his stuff. He wasn’t sure what to feel. Intrigued? Scared? Grossed out? Truthfully, it was a combination of all three.
The little thing didn’t seem to notice him standing there, which gave Jamie a few seconds to figure out what he was going to do. His first thought was to just walk away and come back later, but he had been looking forward to that room temperature water all morning. He then thought about just grabbing his water and leaving, but that would feel weird. He should probably just say something, right? But what? He didn’t want to scare them, though he was a little freaked out himself.
He bent down to get a closer look at this thing. It was uncanny – they looked just like a person, just… small. He couldn’t believe it.
“What the fuck…” Jamie whispered to himself. That’s when you finally noticed.
You whipped your head around and nearly vomited at the sight. This wasn’t just a giant, this was Jamie fucking Tartt. He was loud and reckless and honestly, you had no idea what he was about to do.
The two of you stared at each other, both mouths slightly agape, both unable to find words. You had to run, and run soon. You slowly turned your head up, eyes scanning some object too big to make out what it was.
My water bottle looks fucking huge next to them, Jamie thought.
“Um…” Jamie started, but nothing followed. He was just taking in the sight in front of him – your terrified expression, your clothes, the way you were slowly backing up. “Uh–”
Suddenly, Jamie heard the front doors burst open. Shit. Roy was here. He had to do something, and fast – the tiny had started to bolt away.
So he picked you up.
You yelled so loud that it made Jamie cringe. You kicked and flailed your legs as the ground beneath you raced away, and your ears were popping as you were lifted high into the air. Jamie began to stretch to his full height while pulling you up, and your brain felt like it was going to fall out of your head.
Jamie slowly lowered you into his open palm, and before you had a chance to protest, he curled his fingers over you, shrouding you in darkness. You were on your hands and knees, strands of sweat-stained hair dangling down as you tried to feign off your growing headache. When Jamie lurched forward and began walking, you nearly let loose.
“STOP! PLEASE!” you managed to yell, though you were certain he couldn’t hear you. Shit.
You were panicking, almost as much as Jamie was. What did he just do? Where was he going to go? Whatever happened, he could not let Roy see you.
It was not meant to be.
Roy felt instantly that something was wrong. He heard Jamie in the other room and was ready to walk in and yell at him for cutting his training short. He paused in surprise when he saw Jamie dart the opposite way toward the boot room, holding out his hand like he was trying not to let something spill.
Roy stuck his foot out as Jamie tried to shut the door behind him and tilted his head.
“Oi! What the fuck was that?”
Jamie spun around so fast you nearly flew off his hand. Somehow, he was able to move his open palm behind his back as he turned to face a scowling, yet curious, Roy.
“What the fuck was what?” Jamie retorted, trying to feign ignorance but failing miserably. His heartbeat was growing rapidly as he felt your tiny movements on his palm.
“That, whatever the fuck’s in your hand,” Roy said, pointing toward Jamie’s arm that was unceremoniously curled behind his back.
“Uh, there’s nothing in me hand… see?”
You yelped as Jamie switched his other hand back and dumped you into the opposite palm. He held his empty hand out to Roy, who was not amused.
“You just switched your hands,” he groaned.
“No I didn’t!”
“Yes you did! I just fucking saw it!” Roy said incredulously.
“Saw what?” Jamie smirked, hoping he could annoy Roy so much that he would stomp out of the room.
“If you don’t show me what’s in your fucking hand, you’re running fifty fucking laps today after training.”
Jamie bit his lip. Roy was not kidding about that. Part of him wanted to show Roy his discovery – maybe he would know what to do. But every time he remembered the look of sheer terror on your face, he wanted nothing more than to protect you from everything and everyone.
But he really didn’t want to run those laps.
“Please… please…” you whispered, desperately hoping he would just suck it up and keep you a secret. At this point, you would rather be trapped with Jamie than have to face two giants at once.
It was not your lucky day.
“Alright, look, mate, you have to promise not to freak out.”
Roy raised an eyebrow, entirely confused as to what Jamie could possibly be showing him. Nothing could have prepared him for a tiny, cowering human sitting in his palm.
You clung onto the folds of Jamie’s skin as he slowly moved his hand out from behind his back. The movement alone was enough to make you sick, but the sight of Roy Kent’s eyes blowing wide open and his mouth hanging slightly agape was infinitely worse.
“What the fuuuuu…” Roy couldn’t even finish his sentence. You were trembling as you felt two pairs of giant eyeballs on you, gawking at you like some kind of circus animal. You could barely remember to breathe as Roy leaned down to get a closer look.
A human. A tiny, living, breathing human, just sitting there. Roy didn’t know what to think. He didn’t know what to do. What could he do? Was he supposed to say something?
“I found ‘em in my locker,” Jamie mumbled, his eyes fixated on your shaking form. “They were just rummagin’ through me stuff.”
You were scared shitless of the sight in front of you, yet you couldn’t look away. Roy was staring right back, trying to make sense of everything, when he finally noticed how terrified you were. Your chest was expanding and retracting rapidly, and he swore he could see sweat — or tears? — glistening on your face. Your eyes were pleading with him, and he felt it.
Finally, Roy looked back up at Jamie. There was a pause.
“I don’t know what to do. They’re — they’re so scared, they tried to run but I just picked ‘em up and brought ‘em here ‘cause I panicked and didn’t know what else to do,” Jamie stammered. “I-I didn’t want anyone else to see ‘em.”
“Too fucking late for that,” Roy grumbled.
“You’re the one who followed me in ‘ere! I didn’t want to fuckin' show ‘em to you!”
You couldn’t take it anymore. They were talking about you like you weren’t right there. Once the first tear fell, the floodgates opened up.
“Shit,” Jamie muttered as soon as he felt something wet on his hand.
“Fuck,” Roy echoed. “What the fuck are we gonna do with ‘em?” There was a pit in his stomach. He was the last person on earth that was qualified to be handing someone as big as his thumb.
“I dunno,” Jamie said, sounding uncharacteristically defeated. “I mean… shouldn’t we ask ‘em what they want?”
You furiously wiped away your tears when you felt the heat of their gazes on you. They… actually cared about your opinion?
After taking some deep breaths and working up the courage to speak, you closed your eyes.
“Can you please put me down?”
The two footballers were taken aback that they could actually hear you speak, and even more so at your request.
“Oh, um, of course, yeah, yeah,” Jamie said awkwardly. He looked both ways behind him and settled on placing you in one of the boot cubbies at eye level with him and Roy. This was not ideal. Now you really couldn’t run.
“So what?" Roy said suddenly. "We’re just gonna stand here like a bunch of fucking pricks?” You looked at him in surprise. “No offense.”
Silence.
“What were you doing in his locker?” Roy continued, sounding mildly annoyed.
You stiffened up. This was the last guy you wanted to be talking to.
“I, uh. Was looking for food.”
“Food?” Jamie repeated.
All you could do was nod.
“So, what? Do you live here or some shit?” Roy asked.
You nodded. “Look, I’ll answer anything you want, I… can you please just promise to let me go when you’re done?”
Jamie and Roy exchanged a worried look. It didn’t really dawn on them until now how terrifying this must be for you. For all intents and purposes, they had just kidnapped you.
“I think we should just leave ‘em alone,” Roy finally said. “I don’t think they want anything to do with us.”
“Yeah,” Jamie agreed. You curled your hands into a fist to keep yourself from shaking too hard. You were going to have to go back in his hand again.
Wordlessly, Jamie placed his palm at the edge of the cubby and stared at you expectantly. You blinked away your tears furiously, knowing there was no other way down from here than the giant hand in front of you.
Unlike the first time he picked you up, Jamie felt his heart swell as you crawled into his palm, your eyes focused on the ground. He couldn’t help but feel like he had the most important task in the world, transporting you safely from one room to another. Making sure you were okay. Keeping you safe.
Roy cracked the door open and nodded when he confirmed that nobody else was in the building. You were surprised that this time, Jamie was keeping his hand steady as he briskly made his way back to his locker. He bent down and lowered his hand, and you jumped off before he could even put it all the way down.
Jamie jumped at the sudden movement, resting his now empty hand on his knee. You immediately started to run, but Jamie remembered something.
“Wait!”
You don’t know why, but you stopped and turned around. Right in front of you was a gigantic piece of food poking out of a wrapper.
“It’s a protein bar,” Jamie explained, reading your surprised expression perfectly. “If you need food. Should, uh, it should last you a while.”
You couldn’t help but sniff a laugh. Of course this would last you a while. It was going to go bad before you even finished half of it.
“Thanks,” you mumbled, convinced he couldn’t hear you anyway.
He did.
“Well, um. I have to go,” Jamie said, so awkward that you found it incredibly cute. “It was, erm, it was nice meeting you.”
You couldn’t do anything but wave goodbye – and gawk when Jamie stood up. As he jogged away, you found yourself feeling… sad? No. You shouldn’t feel sad. Couldn’t. But, god, he was just so… calming. Maybe this wouldn’t be the last time you’d see him.
Jamie met with Roy in the weight room, his mind focused on anything but football. Roy noticed instantly, but didn’t say anything. He watched in amusement as Jamie sauntered over to the squat rack, turning his head in every direction like he’d never seen the thing before.
Roy smirked. “You can’t get them off your mind, can you?”
“No. Nooo. Nope. No,” Jamie answered instantly. “No way.”
A beat.
“They were fuckin’ adorable, weren’t they?” Jamie said sheepishly. Roy just nodded.
“Guess you’ll have to give ‘em another protein bar sometime?” the elder footballer asked mockingly.
“Yeah,” Jamie said, staring off into the distance. A smile grew across his face. “I guess I will.”

Hi lovely, sorry if im blowing up your inbox i literally cannot stop reading your fics bro.
could you maybe write a bottom Ted fic? like hes coming home after a long day of running errands and hes so worn out, laying on the couch and watching tv till you get home, somehow just end up riding him hes just a moaning breathless mess, stuttering his words.
idk ive just had this on my mind for a while and i think bottom Ted is jst so fucking hot😗🤷‍♂️
OKAY BYE MY FAVORITEST WRITER EVERR<333 >:3
omg pls blow up my inbox!!! you're sooo sweet tysm for your comments about my writing i appreciate you so much <3333 ur also 100% correct about bottom!ted... i will reign myself in and not give him a mommy kink (as much as i want to) but if y'all are interested in that lmk ;) (nsfw and dom-ish afab!reader under cut!)
ok so i imagine ted having to do some running around for a video. he has something big planned, so he has like a million errands to do and he's running all around town to pick up supplies. he also has to come home and plan and write, so by the evening when you're both relaxing on the couch, he's completely beat.
you're rubbing along his arms and playing with his hair, giving him little neck kisses, which ends up turning into you grinding on his lap a little bit for some friction. wordlessly, his hands find your ass as you keep kissing along his ears and neck, as you can tell he's getting really worked up.
"what do you need, teddy?" you'd ask, whispering into his ear and making his head fall back. "use your words."
"please," he'd breathe out, his mind foggy. "please ride me, i want you so bad."
"mm, good boy," you'd laugh lightly, pulling off your t-shirt and shorts while he unbuttoned his pants and pushed them down his thighs.
"you wanna get me ready?" you asked, as he laid down on the couch. he nodded, as you came up and placed your thighs on either side of his face.
he lapped lazily at your clit as you sat down on him, feeling his warm tongue and moaning at how wet he was making you. your hands carded through his soft hair as his grip tightened on your thighs, kneading them with his ringed fingers.
"so good for me, baby," you cooed, smiling down at his face between your thighs. "doing so good at getting me ready for your cock."
he moaned at the praise, only wanting to please you, before you pulled yourself off of him. you kissed his plush lips, covered in your slick, before getting off of him and positioning yourself over his lap.
you sunk down on him, watching as his head fell back onto the arm of the couch. you both gasped at the feeling, as he filled you up and you started to rock back and forth and find your rhythm.
your hand found his chest as he started to breathe heavier, eyes fluttering closed at how good you felt on him. his hands found your hips for stability, as you leaned down to kiss his neck and chest.
"does that feel good, teddy?"
he could barely speak, letting the stress of his day fade away as you picked up the pace and bounced up and down.
"mmph, fuck, yes, please don't stop." his cheeks were turning crimson, chest heaving, trying unbelievably hard not to cum immediately.
"you're being such a good boy for me, aren't you, teddy? should i let you come?" he blushed at the nickname, feeling himself get impossibly close to finishing.
"please let me cum, please," he begged, as you started to speed up and make it nearly unbearable for him. "can i please cum inside of you?"
a wicked smile on your face as you bottomed out on him, earning a few blubbering squeaks from him as pleasure overtook him. "since you asked so nicely," you teased, grinding on his cock and leaning down to suck a purple hickey into the skin of his chest.
a mix of the pleasure and pain was enough to send him crashing down, hands grabbing at anything they could, just for some reprieve. a string of 'thank you's fell out of his mouth as he painted your insides with his cum, relaxing as soon as he finished and lazily kissing the sides of your face, rubbing his hands down your back.
"feels so good," he smiled, beaming up at you as you pushed the messy hair out of his face and slid his glasses back on. "you're perfect. i love you."

second times the charm , juraj slafkovsky
note, thank you to @antoineroussel for yet another amazing fic exchange! you rock! this fic is for bestie maleeha (@lam-ila). i decided to do grumpy-sunshine (inspired by keeley and roy from ted lasso) and second chance romance. grumpy-sunshine is also one of my fav tropes so i really hope you enjoy this! :) another note, breaking my own rule of not writing for players under 20, but i couldn't pass up the opportunity to write for my favorite slovak. last note, this fic is part of "the lover series", my series about 25 different kinds of relationships. this relationship falls under "second time around". check out this masterlist for more. pair, juraj slafkovsky x reader summary, juraj and y/n were... something some years ago. but that was done and over with. so when y/n comes back as a medical team member, juraj knows there's only so much time to avoid all his problems. warnings, juraj gets injured and i'm not trying to romanticize it. this is my best attempt at grumpy-sunshine, and idk how much of this it really is, but i tried. i tried to leave out as much angst as i could, but with a second-chance romance, there is bound to be some angst, but i promise it'll all lead to a happy ending, i promise! word count, 6869 words (literally the longest thing i’ve ever written on here)
Tumblr media
(gif not mine)
You and Juraj had something. You weren't officially dating but you were more than friends. It didn't last too long but lasted long enough to leave an imprint on you. After a while, you started to think about him and it didn't hurt and you moved on with your life.
Juraj had done the same, but his moving on wasn't as progressive as yours. He was almost a shell of who he was before. He was once smiley but that all changed after your breakup.
You knew Juraj played hockey and knew he wanted to play in pro in the big leagues, you just didn't expect the big leagues to be in the same city as you.
You had been hired by the Canadiens a little before the season ended, so you had heard the rumors about Wright being drafted first, but when you watched the draft and watched Juraj, instead, walk across that stage first, you were just as shocked as everyone else was that arena.
On the first day of work, you had given yourself pep talk after pep talk in the mirror, while you were getting ready, in case you would run into Juraj.
For the majority of the day, you were in the clear. You had yet to run into him, but towards the afternoon was when more players started coming in for help.
Juraj was one of those players.
When he saw you, he froze. He stopped walking and just stared at you, like a creep. You turned around and stopped the conversation you were having when you locked eyes with him.
"Y/N?" Your coworker, Lorelei called your name, "You okay?" She followed your line of sight and saw you and Juraj having a staring contest.
"Uh, yeah." You blinked, turning back to Lorelei, "Can you excuse me?" She nodded, watching you walk away, over to Juraj, "...Hi." You let out a breath.
"Hi." He nodded, his voice curt and short, but then again, he was only saying one word.
"Can we talk?"
"Don't think there's anything to talk about." He shrugged.
"Come on, don't be like that."
"Be like what?"
"Can we just talk, Juraj?"
"We really don't have anything to talk about, Y/N." He told you, his tone so sharp it felt like it was stabbing you in the chest.
You picked up how much he really really did not want to talk to you, so you took it as your cue to not push him, "Right." You nodded, "Yeah, right." You walked past him, trying to hide the embarrassment you felt.
Right as you walk out, Arber walked up to him, "Who's she?"
"Ex," Juraj responded gruffly.
"Huh," Arber nodded, "Guessing you didn't end on the best terms?"
"You would be right."
"I gotta say, she looked pretty upset when she was leaving." Juraj simply ignored him.
-
"... and I gotta tell you, I was this close to just punching him in the face." Your date, Milo, laughed as he explained yet another story.
This date, so far, was not going very well.
Milo wasn't a bad guy, it was all you. You subconsciously kept comparing Milo to Juraj, and in that sense, they were both very different guys.
You listened to Milo talk for almost the entire night, and for that entire time, you spent it comparing two guys to each other.
"You okay? You've hardly touched your pasta." Milo pointed out.
"Yeah, I'm great." You plastered on a smile, pushing down the internal battle you were having, "Just really tired. Work." You shrugged.
"Work, right." He nodded, looking like he was ready to ask more questions, "You work where again?"
"I work for a hockey team." You answered, not wanting to start by saying you worked for one of the biggest hockey teams in Canada.
"The Canadiens?" He asked.
"Yeah, medical staff." You nodded.
"Wow." His eyes went wide as h sat back. in his seat. You could practically feel the questions he was gonna ask next, "Do you get free tickets?"
You deflated. It was always 'Do you get free tickets?' and 'Do you know so and so?'.
"I don't get free tickets." You shook your head, leaving out the discounted part.
"Have you met Caufield and Suzuki? Ooh, and the new draft? The Slovak?" He asked excitedly.
You resisted the urge to roll your eyes, "Yeah, I know them all."
"Wow, that is so cool!" He exclaimed, "I have like a million different questions to ask those guys."
The rest of your date was spent with you answering all of Milo's questions about your work, and usually, you would happy to answer questions about work but in this case, Milo didn't care about what you did for the team, he only cared about the team.

Walking on the treadmill was something you found relaxing. Exercise wasn't relaxing to you, but something about walking on the treadmill and just listening to music gave you peace.
You were so in your head, you didn't even realize that someone had started walking on the treadmill beside you and started talking to you. You only realized Arber was talking to you when he tapped you on the shoulder.
You nearly jumped out of your skin when you felt him tap you, "Whoa!"
"Sorry, didn't realize you couldn't hear me."
"Yeah, I listen to my music really loud." You took out your earbuds, "So, can I help you with something? Any injuries?"
"No, I just had some questions." He looked almost shy.
"Can't promise I'll have all the answers." You turned to him.
"You and Juraj..." You sighed, "Didn't expect that reaction." He chuckled.
"I don't know what Juraj told you,"
"Said you were exes and that was it."
"And that's all there is." You shrugged.
"No, come on, I saw your face when you walked out of the locker room the other day, and it was not a happy one."
"The end of our relationship wasn't the best." You furrowed your brows together, trying to find the words, "He wasn't there for me when I needed him. I was putting more effort into the relationship than he was."
"That doesn't sound like Juraj."
"And how long have you known him exactly?" You raised a brow. When he didn't respond, you nodded, "Exactly." Arber watched you and waited for you to continue, "He was a good guy at the beginning, really. He was great. But something changed." You explained.
"I'm sorry." He offered a sympathetic smile.
"Well, if that's all the questions you have..."
Arber got the message and took his leave. He stopped the treadmill, "Thanks."
"Glad I could help." You slipped your earbuds back in and continued your walk.
-
You were watching the game from the medical room. You were lying on the bed in the medbay with Lorelei, eating snacks and enjoying the game.
Everything happened so quickly. One minute Juraj was on the ice and the next he was slammed into the boards by one of the other guys.
The play kept going but Juraj wasn't getting up. You were on your feet, trying to get a better look at what was going on, but when everyone noticed he wasn't getting up, the while was blown and the main medic, your boss Matt, rushed onto the ice.
Matt bent down next to Juraj and was talking to him and you so wished you could've been out there, talking to him. After a lot of waiting, Juraj was helped to his feet, his arms slung over Matt's and a couple other players.
He was shuffled down the tunnel and you could hear the commotion as they got closer and closer to the med room.
They carried him into the room and set him on the bed. You tried to figure out what was going on, "What's wrong?" You asked Matt, fiddling with your necklace nervously.
"I don't know yet. He says his entire left leg hurts, so we're trying. to narrow down where it hurts first." Matt snapped on a pair of gloves as he pushed through the crowd of people surrounding the bed.
Matt started pushing down his leg to find the spot that hurt. He eventually got to Juraj's knee, and when he did, Juraj let out the most pained noise you'd ever heard him make.
They pulled all the padding away and saw that his knee was very dislocated, "Okay, there's our culprit." Matt sighed, running a gloved wrist across his sweaty forehead.
"All right, we're gonna pop it back into place, but it's gonna hurt, I'm not gonna lie." The paramedic in the room told him.
His eyes frantically searched the room and when he found yours, it was almost like he was begging you to hold his hand. And you couldn't deny him of that, so you made your way over and hand his hand.
"Okay, are you ready?" Juraj looked anything but ready, "All right, on the count of three." The paramedic nodded.
You looked over at Juraj and saw the nervous look written all over his face, "You're gonna be okay." You reassured, "Just... think of something else. Think of what you're gonna eat after this or your favorite candy."
"I can't." He shook his head, eyes watering at the pain.
"It's gonna be okay. I promise." You squeezed his hand, "My favorite is Milkyway." He was barely paying attention to as he gritted his teeth in pain. You were tempted to kiss his forehead or something, but that wasn't your job anymore. The most you could offer was your hand.
"One, two, three." Once she hit 3, she snapped his knee back into place. He cried out in pain, "All right, you're all done, Juraj." She announced, "Now we're going to take you to the hospital so you can get further accessed and we'll put a splint on there."
"When will I get to play?" Even with tears on his face, all he was worried about was playing hockey.
"Let's just worry about your getting your knee accessed then we'll worry about playing." The paramedic smiled, pulling up the rails on the gurney.
Your hand slipped from his and you watched them wheel him away, "He's gonna be okay." Lorelei told you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. You took a deep breath, closed your eyes, and let Lorelei hug you.
-
After dislocating his knee, Juraj was out for almost 7 weeks, you didn't see much of him, but after he was cleared, it almost seemed like you were seeing him everywhere.
And it was intentional, on Juraj's part. After the accident, it was almost like a wake-up call.
Even though you weren't together, you showed up and were there for him in the medbay, holding his hand and reassuring him that everything was going to be okay.
During practice, you just so happen to be hanging by the bench with Lorelei, talking about your plans, "You sure you don't want to come out with us?" Juraj heard Lorelei ask as he made his way over to the bench to get some water.
"I'm fine, really." You insisted.
"All right, but next time, you're coming out with us."
"All right." You smiled. She walked back down the tunnel, but you sat down on the bench, watching practice.
"You should go out with them." Juraj voiced. As the words escape him, he wanted to hit himself. You turned to him, brows furrowed together, "Sorry, that was wrong."
"It was." You nodded, "But I want to know why you think that?"
"Because I know you, Y/N. You probably don't have many friends right now,"
"Okay, rude." You crossed your arms.
"But am I wrong?"
You hesitated, "No."
"See? So, go. Hang out with them. You'll have fun." He insisted.
"Why are you pushing this so hard? We don't like each other."
"Who said I didn't like you?" Juraj asked in a tone that made him sound offended.
"You did when you brushed me off the other day." You reminded him. You raised a brow when he stayed quiet, "I'll see you around, Juraj." You followed in Lorelei's footsteps and made your way back down the tunnel.
-
With Matt's secondhand medic being out with a cold, you were taking his place behind the bench. So, during the game, you were standing towards the entrance of the tunnel where the second medic usually would be.
"This your first time on the bench?" Cole Caufield asked.
"That obvious?"
"If your good at your job, you've got nothing to be worried about." He offered you a smile.
"Thanks." You nodded.
Juraj, who was sitting further down the bench, saw Cole talk to you. He saw you laugh at a joke Cole made, a total cliche. He looked away, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.
"Not your girl." He muttered to himself in Slovakian so the guys sitting next to him assumed he was just giving himself a pep talk.
-
A couple of days later at practice, you were carrying some supplies to the medbay. Your headphones were in and you were in work mode. You happened to walk past the hallway where the locker room was and happened to make eye contact with Juraj.
He was entering the locker room post-practice. You were prepared to just ignore him and walk past him but he offered you a smile, and when you returned it, confused, he stopped in his tracks and made his way over to you instead.
You furrowed your brows together and set the boxes in your hands on the ground, taking out your earbuds, "Juraj." You greeted, "Hope you aren't injured."
"Nope, all good." He shook his head.
"Good." You nodded.
You stood in silence, bouncing on the balls of your feet as you waited for him to say something, "Is there anything else I can help you with?"
"I just... I wanted to say I had no right for talking to you like I did the other day." You were surprised and your face probably showed it, "So, I'm sorry."
You smiled softly, "Thanks. I appreciate it." He smiled in response before turning and heading back over to the locker room. You watched him, a smile on your face and for the first time in a while, Juraj was the cause of it.
-
Somehow you ended up working the medical staff booth at the Habs event. You were standing behind the table, watching as everyone passed by, seemingly having no interest in the medical staff.
You sighed for the umpteenth time, "Excuse me?" You heard a familiar voice and looked up, "Have you ever stitched up Suzuki?" Juraj joked.
You playfully rolled your eyes, "Not yet, but I have stitched up a few of the other guys, ya know, the nobodies." You joked. He nodded along, "Some rookie, Slav-Slafkovsky I think his name was." You laughed when his jaw dropped.
"A nobody? Really?"
"I'm just kidding. You aren't a nobody. You're somebody." You punched him softly in the shoulder from across the table.
"So, where are all the people? Why is your booth so empty?"
"Since you asked so kindly," You joked, "Captain Suzuki and Cole are doing a signing so everyone's probably over there. I'm surprised you aren't over there."
"Why would I be over there?"
"'Cause all your friends are over there and you'd get to take pictures and sign autographs." You shrugged.
"Well, I'm hanging out with a friend right now and I can sign autographs and take pictures from here."
"That's not really what this booth is for, but it's the thought that counts." He shrugged, "Also, we're friends?"
"Are we not?"
"I don't know it's just we don't really talk and on the off chance that we did talk, you were either brushing me off or apologizing."
"I thought we were friends."
"I don't know, I guess we can try to be."
You smiled. He smiled back.
-
Juraj had been replaying your conversation over and over in his head for almost 2 weeks before he finally gathered up the courage to talk to you again.
You and Lorelei were talking in the little dining hall in the arena. He approached your table and when Lorelei saw him approaching, she smirked before pushing her chair out and walking to the fridge, pretending to be busy.
You smiled at Juraj when he sat down next to you, "Hi."
"Hi." He looked nervous.
"Can I help you with something this fine afternoon, friend?" You asked, taking a bite of your sandwich.
"I've been thinking about our conversations for the past 2 weeks." He took a breath, "And I don't want our first conversation as real friends to be an apology, but I need to apologize to you for how our relationship ended." You nodded along cautiously.
"I was a horrible partner to you, and I can't go back in time and change things or stop what happened, but I can offer an apology."
You smiled softly, "I appreciate that. It means a lot." You reached over and grabbed his hand, "But now I think it's time for us to stop apologizing. Well, unless you do something crappy again."
He laughed, "All right, no more apologizing, unless I'm a jerk again."
"Starting now." You held out your hand.
"Now." He nodded, shaking your hand with a laugh.
-
"So, Juraj is doing his first post-practice media since his injury." Lorelei brought it up to you as you were cleaning the medbay.
"Is he?"
"Yeah, he is." She smirked, "Just wanted to let you know, ya know, just in case you want to skip out on me."
"I'm not gonna ditch you." You laughed, but paused, "Hypothetically..."
"Go." She didn't even let you finish.
You smiled before running out of the room and rushing to find the media room where Juraj would be. You stopped in the doorway, surprised that you found the space practically empty save for one reporter sitting in the back row.
Juraj had yet to come in, so you took a seat in the front row. When he did walk into the room, he froze briefly before making his way up to the table.
He locked eyes with you as you flashed him a smile, "Don't all raise your hands at once." He joked.
The man in the back raised his hand, and Juraj called on him, seeing as he was the only guy in the room. He asked his question, and Juraj gave a very "hockey player" response.
Then an awkward silence fell over the room, and Juraj waited for the reporter to ask a question. When he didn't, you quickly raised your hand. He looked surprised when he saw your hand shoot up.
Your arms were moving faster than your brain as you quickly tried to come up with a question, "Yes, in the front." He pointed to you, attempting to hide his shock.
"Yes, Juraj." You nodded, "Y/N Y/L/N with Canadiens Today." He smiled, "My question is what's your pregame meal?"
Juraj laughed, "I'm pretty basic. Pasta guy, maybe throw in some veggies if I'm feeling fun."
You got up from your seat and ran around to the row behind you and took a seat again, raising your hand again. He broke into a smile when he caught onto what you were doing, "Yes, you." He pointed to you.
This went on for a couple more questions. You switching sets and asking him a question. You knew this probably wouldn't get published out into the world, but the room was empty you were there, so you might as well ask the questions.
After media was over, the reporter walked out of the room, but you stayed. Juraj smiled at you, "Thank you for that. It was embarrassing as it was to walk into an empty room."
"We're friends. It's what friends are for." You shrugged, sending him a smile.
-
The Canadiens charity dinner/gala was an event you were looking forward to. Kirby had asked you to go, purely as a friend. He didn't have a date and you were friends.
"Do you want a drink?"
"Sure, thanks." You smiled.
Kirby headed over to the bar while you took in the decorations around the room, "You look nice." Juraj complimented as he approached you.
"Thanks." You smiled, looking back at the large lighting fixture hanging from the ceiling.
"So, you came with Dach?"
"He asked, I accepted." You shrugged.
"We could've gone together."
"You didn't ask." You raised a brow at him, "If you had asked, I would have said yes."
Juraj didn't respond, instead, he took in your words as Kirby made his way back over with your drinks in hand, "Hey, good to see you." Kirby greeted, handing you your drink.
"Yeah, you too." Juraj nodded his head, "I'm gonna go find my seat." Juraj turned and walked towards the tables, trying to find his name card.
You and Kirby followed in his footsteps and made your way over to the tables to find your own name tags. To your luck, you were seated at the same table as Juraj and a few of the other guys.
"What a fun coincidence." You laughed, taking your seat, Juraj on your left and Kirby on your right.
"Yeah." Juraj managed a laugh, one that didn't quite reach his eyes but you and everyone else at the table failed to realize.
Once everyone else got situated and seated at their tables, the event organizers gave a speech and a few other higher-up team members.
Eventually, the appetizer came out, and when you got a chance to look at what was on your plate, you stared at it, "Everything okay?" Kirby asked, noticing your intense staring competition with the olives and cherry tomatoes mixed in with the salad on the plate.
"Oh, yeah, all good." You nodded, "Not the biggest fan of olives and tomatoes." Juraj knew it was the understatement of the year. You absolutely hated both of them.
You pushed the olives and tomatoes to the side of your plate, trying not to make a scene. Juraj, without even thinking, reached over and scooped the two things off your plate and onto his.
You stared at him, watching him eat the olives and tomatoes from his own salad, "What're you doing?"
"You hate them." He shrugged as if it was nothing.
"Juraj..." You sighed.
"What? Were you gonna eat them?" He asked.
"No."
"Then why waste food?" He shrugged again. You laughed, shaking your head and reaching for your drink, rejoining the conversation.
Juraj felt almost like he had won. He made you smile and that was a win in his book.
-
You were slipping a shirt over your head when you heard a knock on your hotel room door. This was one of the first roadies you and Lorelei were given the "okay" from Matt to come.
You assumed it was Lorelei but when you opened it, you were surprised to find Juraj instead, "Oh." You halted in your steps.
"Hi." He stood in the doorway nervously.
"Hi." You smiled, "Gosh, you're shaking like a leaf. Are you okay? Are you cold?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." He nodded, "I was just-I came to ask you-I was wondering-"
"Juraj, geez, it's just me. Calm down, take a breath." You chuckled, watching him stutter over his words.
"Do you want to hang out with me today?" He finally spat out.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I already have plans." Everyone was given the day off so you and Lorelei were planning on checking out the city and being tourists.
"I talk to Lorelei already. She's spending the day with a few of the other guys."
"Wow, you really thought this through." You laughed, "What did you have planned?"
"Well, I've never been to Seattle before, so maybe we can start there?"
"Well, you're in luck, I've been before and I know all the best places."
"Great." You grabbed your bag, a jacket and your room key then stepped out into the hallway together.
You did all the touristy things with Juraj. You visited the Space Needle, visited Pike Place Market, and even got coffee from the first Starbucks.
You tried to convince him it was just overpriced Starbucks that you would have to wait in an hour-long line for, but he wanted the experience and who were you to deny him of that?
After spending the entire day exploring the city, you and Juraj sat down for dinner at a little lowkey restaurant, nothing fancy, "So, did you enjoy the Y/N Tour today?"
"I did. I'd give you 5 stars."
"Ah, thanks." You laughed, "What was your favorite part of today?"
"The Needle was fun."
"I figured it would be."
"Why is that?"
"'Cause it was my favorite too, and we like a lot of the same things." You answered, taking a bite of your sandwich.
He watched you while you watched the people outside the window. He smiled, taking a bite of his own sandwich as he followed your eyes and people-watched along with you.
Later that night, you and Juraj were walking back down the hallway toward your hotel room, "I'm glad you asked me to be your tour guide today."
"Yeah, well it was either you or Wifi, and don't tell him I told you this, but I think you're prettier than him." You laughed as you slid your room key into the lock.
"Well, goodnight, Juraj. I'll see you tomorrow." You smiled.
"See you tomorrow." He repeated, sending you a smile.
You closed the door and shucked off your jacket and bag. Right as you kicked off your shoes, there was a knock on your door. Your brows furrowed together as you made your way back over to the door.
"Did you forget something?"
"Yeah, I did." He nodded, "Can I kiss you?" You blinked like a fish, trying to comprehend what he said, "I would've just gone for it without asking, but you always tell me consent is important."
Your brain started working again, and you smiled, "Yeah, you can kiss me." You nodded. He leaned forward, cupping your cheek and kissing you. You smiled as you wrapped your arms around his waist, pulling him closer to you.
As you pulled away, you could see something in his eyes. It wasn't regret nor was it joy, he looked conflicted, "Are you okay?" You asked.
Instead of responding, he pushed your arms away and turned in the opposite direction, walking towards his hotel room. He left you standing there, confused.
-
The morning after the kiss, you tried to confront him during breakfast, but by the time you made it down for breakfast, he had already left for practice.
"So he kissed you and bailed?" Lorelei asked.
"Just walked away." You nodded.
"That's strange." She commented, "I'm not a betting woman, Y/N, but if I were, I would bet a whole paycheck that Juraj is still in love with you."
You shook your head with a roll of your eyes, "That's not true."
"Oh, it absolutely is. and your denying it is silly. I know you still like him, maybe even love him."
"I don't love him." You denied once again.
"All right, you don't." She shrugged.
-
Juraj had been avoiding you. He didn't know how to confront you. He kissed you. It had been a good kiss, great even. But for some reason, he ran off.
He knew he had to confront you and admit how he really felt, but the one thing he was scared of more than anything was being rejected. He could handle you hating him and not talking to him and being upset with him, but he could not physically handle you rejecting him.
He had tried on numerous occasions to approach you. He approached you but when opened his mouth, nothing came out. Another time, he, once again, opened his mouth to say something, but someone else called your name and before you noticed him, you were being pulled in another direction.
When he saw you walking down the hall, he knew he had to say something, "Y/N." He called out.
You looked up from your phone and when you saw it was him, you were ready to turn around and walk in the opposite direction, "No, wait, please." He begged.
You slowly turned around to face him, and slid your hands into your pockets, "Can I talk to you?"
"Isn't that what we're doing right now?" He winced at the way the sentence had come out, but he knew he deserved it. After all, he kissed you and then ran off.
"Right, I just wanted to clarify something." You nodded, "I'm sorry for what I did. I didn't mean to run off like that, I swear. I just, I think my legs moved faster than my brain." You were confused and your face must've shown it.
"What I'm trying to say is I wanted to kiss you, and I had it all planned out in my head. I was gonna kiss you, and I was gonna confess my feelings for you, but then I ran because I was scared you wouldn't feel the same way. Still am, by the way. Scared you won't feel the same."
"Juraj..."
"I like you, Y/N, and boy does it feel good to say that. Because I've been holding that in for so long. Longer than I'd like to admit." You simply stared at him, eyes wide.
"Say something." He begged. But you couldn't. You were shocked. He actually liked you. He frowned when you didn't respond, only stare at him. He took your silence as his answer and once again, turned and left you alone again.
-
You sat by yourself in the arena, trying to understand what just happened. You were an artist, but you could draw the look on Juraj's face when you didn't say anything, and it hurt that your brain didn't move fast enough to say anything.
No one was in the arena except for the Zamboni which was going over the ice, but you were sitting in the nosebleeds section so you would be left alone by anyone on the ice.
"What're you doing up here by yourself?" You turned around to see Arber standing a few seats away.
"Thinking."
"Hmm." He hummed, "You and Juraj look the same. You're both moping, which means something happened, so spill."
"I messed up." You told him in a tone that let Arber know that it was more than a little mistake. He sat down in the chair next to you. You filled him in on what happened and he sat there and listened, he didn't interrupt you.
"You know what you have to do?" You looked over at him, "You gotta tell him how you feel. You're both hurting. It's so clear you both still have feelings for each other, and the only way to stop the hurting is to admit the truth. Tell him how you feel, Y/N. What's stopping you?"
"You didn't see his face. He was heartbroken."
"Then go." He told you.
-
You stared at his door, hesitating. After a few mental pep talks, you finally raised your hand to knock on his door. You heard someone making their way to the door, and when it opened, instead of Juraj, you were met with his roommate.
"Are you here for Juraj?"
"Yeah." You nodded. His roommate moved out of the way just enough for you to enter. When you walked in, you looked around.
"He's in his room." He pointed down the hall to Juraj's room. You knocked on his door and waited for a response.
"Come in." You opened the door and saw him laying in his bed, looking just as miserable as you, "What're you doing here?"
"You didn't let me say anything."
"I did. I waited."
"Then that's my fault. I was trying to figure out what to say, but I couldn't get it out."
He stared at you, trying to decipher what was happening, "Are you here to reject me again?"
"No, I wanted to talk to you about something else." You stepped into his room, shutting the door behind you, "I talked with Arber, who gave me some good advice."
"Did he now?"
"Juraj," You took a breath, "I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier. But I'm here now, and I want to say I feel the same way about you." He raised a brow, "I like you, too. Maybe even love you, but I'm not sure about that yet."
He stared at you the same way you had stared at him when he proclaimed his feelings for you, "I probably always have and always will. Somewhere along the way, I forgot about that because I was blinded by the hurt and pain you caused, but seeing you again and spending time with you, it was like all those feelings came rushing back like a waterfall."
He smiled as he listened to you. He could tell you meant it as he watched you, "You don't have to love me right now 'cause I'll love enough for the both of us."
He jumped out of bed and wrapped his arms around you, hugging you tightly, "I do love you." He spoke into your hair before kissing your head. You smiled, letting out a happy and relieved sigh as you hugged him back, relishing the feeling of having his arms back around you.
-
"Special delivery!" Lorelei announced walking into the medbay with a package in her hands, "Special delivery for one Mrs. Y/N Slafkovsky." She joked.
"Okay, you can stop with the wedding jokes. We aren't married, we're just dating. We're taking things slow."
"I know, but it's still funny." She set the box down on the table. You looked over at her, "What? Are you gonna open it?"
You laughed, grabbing a pair of scissors and opening the box. You smiled happily when you pulled out all the bubble wrap, revealing heaps and heaps of Milkyway bars.
"What is it?" Lorelei asked.
"Milkyway." You pulled out a bar and unwrapped it, taking a bite.
-
"Come on, as my girlfriend you have to wear my jersey."
"I already have a jersey."
"Yeah, with some other guy's name on it."
"I'll be sure to tell your captain he's just another guy." You joked.
"Please?" He begged.
"I'm kidding. Of course, I'll wear it." You grabbed it from him and set it aside. You wrapped your arms around his waist, looking up at him, "Be great."
"Always am." He wrapped his arms around your shoulders.
"Score a goal for me."
"Who do you think I am? That would make me the worst boyfriend in the world. With you in the crowd? Now I've gotta do it."
"I'm in the crowd more often than you'd think." You reminded him, "Behind the bench and all."
"But this is different." He pointed out.
"All right, whatever you say." You smiled, pushing yourself up. He got the picture and leaned down, kissing you.
During warm-ups, he skated past multiple times, slammed into the glass a few times, and right before he skated off the ice, he tossed a puck over the glass to you and winked.
You smiled, slipping into your pocket, "You're making me feel really lonely." Lorelei joked.
"Sorry." You laughed.
"Don't you dare apologize." She nudged you softly.
-
Halfway through the 3rd period, the Habs were up by 2 and things looked like they were only going up from there. You watched as Jake Evans passed it to Anderson who passed it back to Jake. He skated down the ice, looking for someone to pass to.
Juraj hopped off the bench after switching with another player. Jake passed it over to Juraj, who skated around the Yotes player and tricked the goalie.
He looked like he was going left, but instead shot from the right. You jumped out of your seat and hugged Lorelei as the goal horn sounded.
Juraj was pulled into hugs by his teammates as he celebrate. Before he skated over to the bench, he pointed over to you. When you locked eyes, he blew you a kiss, dedicating his goal to you.
You laughed as you felt eyes from everywhere on you. The celly replayed as he skated past you and pointed to you and blew you a kiss.
"I'm calling that the Y/N goal." Lorelei joked, nudging you with her arm softly.
-
When you woke up that morning, you felt like everything was wrong. That could have partly been because you woke up late and accidentally pressed stop instead of snooze. And when you got to work, it felt like things were only going worse.
So, during your lunch break, you found yourself on the treadmill, trying to not cry as the stress of your day got to you. You walked at the slowest speed as you closed your eyes and tried to breathe.
"Hey, I've been looking for you all day." Juraj joined you on the treadmill next to you. He was walking at a faster pace as he talked about his day.
He was telling you a funny story about how practice was going when he looked over and noticed you weren't paying attention, "Hey, you okay?"
You opened your eyes, "No, everything is bad."
"What do you mean?"
"Today has not been good, and I've been trying to turn it around, but it's not working."
"Do you want to keep talking about it?" You shook your head, "Are you gonna cry?" You nodded, "All right." He stopped his treadmill and turned yours off.
You stood at the end of the treadmill as he wrapped you in a hug, letting you cry out all the emotions from the day. He didn't say anything, he only rubbed your back and let you cry, and placed a few kisses on your head.
-
About a month after your first game, you were sitting in a different spot in the arena, but it was still out of your price range if you were to buy your own ticket.
You watched Juraj get into a fight then watched him get ejected. The fight wasn't anything bad and it wasn't any different than any other fight, but something was wrong with him, you could see it.
You gathered your stuff up and made your way down to the locker room. You peeked into the locker room and saw him sitting in his stall, looking as dejected as ever.
He heard your footsteps walking into the room, then looked down, "You aren't supposed to be in here during the game." You ignored him and approached him, "Did you hear me? You aren't supposed to be here."
You sat down next to him and reached for his hand. You didn't say anything, but when you slipped your hand into his, his body deflated. and he melted into you.
You didn't say anything as you wrapped an arm around his shoulders. He leaned down and leaned his head on your shoulder as his body molded into yours.
And that was that. Neither of you said anything. You only sat in the locker room, Juraj clinging to you in silence.
-
You and Juraj were sitting in different rooms in your apartment. He came over after practice and the two of you kind of just stayed in separate rooms doing your own thing.
You made your way out of your bedroom and into the kitchen but as you passed the living room, you saw Juraj sprawled out on your couch. His eyes were closed but you could tell he wasn't asleep.
You set your mug down on the table next to the couch and sat down next to him. You ran your hands up his arm, then leaned down and kissed his cheek.
"You finally done?"
"Almost. One more paragraph then I'm all yours for the rest of the night." He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you down to lay on his chest, "One more paragraph, come on." You laughed.
"That's too much." He whined, closing his eyes as if he were going to fall asleep.
"No, come on. I'm almost done!" You begged. He only pretended to snore. You sighed, laying your head on his chest as you gave in to your fate.
You both eventually fell asleep and when you. woke up, it was much late. You woke up before him and looked up at him tiredly, smiling.
"Creep." He muttered as he opened his eyes and saw you staring at him. You rolled your eyes.
He yawned as he began waking up, "Don't you think it's crazy that almost a year ago you couldn't even be in the same room as me."
"Crazy." He hummed.
"Sometimes good things really do take time." You smiled.
"Well, then I'm glad I waited." He leaned down, kissing you softly.

Follow-up to this post and a point-by-point recap of last night's events:
- Definitely thought I would be nervous, but as soon as I saw Neil waiting backstage from the vantage of my fourth row seat, all that went away.
- The event was a tribute to Ray Bradbury, with Neil and several actors reading different short stories and Neil talking about them in between. He started off the night by talking about being a TikTok meme ("Neil Gaiman, why are you in my falafel?") and how his time as a meme was almost up.
- There was an after party in the bar following the show, and the ticket I had purchased allowed me to attend. I didn't even realize Neil was there yet because he was so low profile and just chilling while a line began to form at his table.
- When I went up to him, he was very smiley and kind and soft-spoken. I mentioned really enjoying the Bradbury story he read ("The Homecoming") because it felt like an allegory for autism, for an autistic person in a family full of neurotypicals, and it really resonated with me. So we talked Ray Bradbury and writing and it was lovely. - I also mentioned the tweets from a few years ago (here and here) that involved him commenting on a photo of me in a red bikini and me offering to cook him dinner if he came to New Jersey, and he remembered! Haha. He also still seemed very interested in the offer and said, "It's a date" and "We'll do dinner." Oh, Neil... - At the end, I somehow finally remembered to tell him my name and said "I'm Amy" as we shook hands. To which he replied, "It's lovely to meet you, Amy. I'm Neil." - After we took the picture, I wished Neil a good flight (the venue staff said they were trying to hurry up the queue because he had an early flight today) and safe travels, and he said "Thank you!" and was again so sweet and lovely and just a person. - Didn't talk to Neil about anything Good Omens, but I did end up chatting with a woman who knows Rob Wilkins (someone waiting in the queue asked Neil how to get in touch with Rob and he pointed to this woman, so that was how I first became aware of her). Later on in the evening, after Neil left, we were on the other side of the bar and struck up a conversation about all things GO, Terry Pratchett, fandoms, Michael and David's chemistry, and much more. She also told me to follow her on Instagram and message her if I ever needed tips for navigating the overwhelm that is NYCC. A totally unexpected and thoroughly enjoyable conversation overall. - Also got to talk with Yetide Badaki (who was in American Gods and one of the actors who performed last night) and she was beyond lovely. I complimented her performance and said how it was "like Siri, but less creepy" and she burst out laughing and asked if she could put that in her résumé. Haha. The topic of autism came up and she said how it was so important to her and how there needs to be more awareness. I mentioned being a professional speaker and that I've done a TED talk on autism, and she said she wanted to watch it. Again, completely unexpected interaction, but so delightful and so much fun.
My overall thoughts and takeaway from this is that real life is very, very much different and not the same thing at all as online fandom. It was incredibly refreshing to see Neil and talk to him in a non-fandom context, and to see how gracious he was with every person in line (adults, kids, couples, all of it). He signed books, took pictures with people, and hugged fans who seemed to be sharing particularly emotional moments. I feel like the fandom tends to treat Neil like some kind of god, but for me, I truly enjoyed seeing and getting to meet him as a person--charming, intelligent, funny, polite, and just a bit awkward...

What exactly is empathy?
Back with more Nate meta - shocker! At a basic level, empathy is about widening our perspective to understand where someone is coming from. It doesn’t mean actions taken are acceptable or justified, but it’s an exercise in looking for insight and extending compassion. One thing I’ve noticed can go missing in analysis of Nate’s choices is the limited POV he has throughout the show. People are quick to judge him for his reasoning in the latter half of S2 without recognizing that he’s missing crucial insights, often because he is not in the scene which would provide it. I want to highlight a few examples that I think show this limited POV and, hopefully, indicate where he deserves some grace.
Of course, a straightforward example of this is the picture Nate gave to Ted for Christmas. Nate couldn’t help but notice it’s not hanging in Ted’s office, and that became emblematic to Nate of the abandonment he was feeling. We the viewers know that Ted has the picture on his bedroom dresser next to his picture of Henry. Nate doesn’t know this; he has a limited POV, so in my view it’s a lot kinder and more empathetic to give him grace on that one. But what tends to happen is that a detail like that gets sublimated into justification to continue criticizing Nate. For instance, instead of feeling sorry for Nate, feeling compassion for his limited perspective in that moment, the thinking becomes judgemental and defensive: Why should Ted display it in his office? Ted doesn’t owe Nate that. Nate needs to get over himself.
People tend to be similarly hard on Nate for the moment in 2x11 when he says, “There we go. Give Ted another idea he’ll take all the credit for.” We have a wider perspective than Nate does. We know that Ted doesn’t take the credit; in fact, Ted credited Nate for his decoy play back in 1x03. It’s a great moment that shows us Ted’s integrity - he doesn’t take the credit for that, even when Trent Crimm is audibly horrified that Ted would entrust such a thing to the kit man. It adds to our growing love for Ted as a character.
But crucially, Nate doesn’t hear a lick of it. Nate is yards away kicking dog shit off the field. His POV is limited in the scene, so he entirely misses that lovely moment of Ted giving him the credit. We’re also privy to the article Trent writes at the end of the episode, and he doesn’t mention in there that Nate came up with the play. Why would Nate have any idea that Ted gives him the credit?
“That’s the job, son,” Roy says to Nate. Putting aside that they’re roughly the same age, so it’s more than a little condescending, this comment from Roy doesn’t address the void Nate’s feeling of validation and approval from Ted. In 2x12, Nate says, “And I... I worked my ass off, trying to get your attention back. To prove myself to you. To make you like me again.” I wish people would take these words at face value instead of using them to continue justifying uncharitable readings of Nate’s behaviour. I wish more people would put themselves in Nate’s shoes and imagine for a moment what it felt like to be in the sunlight of Ted’s kind, supportive attention in S1 only to feel like he’d done something to lose it. Imagine wondering what you did wrong to lose the attention and care of the kindest, sweetest man you’ve had the fortune of meeting. Nate is feeling Ted’s absence so keenly by the time he lets it all out in 2x12. He feels invisible and occasionally even outright replaced. Ted laughs at the idea of him being a big dog, and god, that has to sting so much, and then he brings Roy in as coach. People are quick to gloss over this moment, but it’s a crucial one for understanding how twisted up Nate is starting to feel. If he truly thinks Ted doesn’t like him anymore, then imagine what it felt like for him to be the subject of Ted’s laughter and for Ted to subsequently bring in someone he wouldn’t laugh at? And in the episodes following, Ted’s giving Roy the attention Nate craves as the wins pile up, and to top it off, those wins are largely attributed to the Roy Kent Effect.
Ted isn’t there for Nate’s big moment of glory in 2x06. We know why he wasn’t because we got a lot of Ted’s backstory. Nate didn’t. He has no idea what Ted’s going through. One big takeaway from the show is that we don’t know what the people in our lives are going through, and that’s another reason to be kind and empathetic to each other. So yes maybe Nate should have been able to connect some of the dots, particularly once Ted confessed he’d had a panic attack. Maybe he could have given Ted some grace, but clearly Nate was going through some of his own toxic stuff that made him miss a few things, just like Ted. And really, it’s not like people are giving Nate grace given what we know of his struggles. Nate doesn’t realize the extent of Ted’s mental health struggles because Ted doesn’t let him in on it, just like Ted doesn’t realized the extent of Nate’s feelings of abandonment.
One moment I find so brilliant for highlighting just how much Nate wanted specifically Ted’s validation and approval (to make you like me again) is the fact that Roy gives Nate credit and validation for his big win. He tells Rebecca the win was all Nate (but, crucially, Nate isn’t in the room for that) and then afterward he says, “Oy, Nate, great fucking work today.” I think to Nate it feels more like getting validation from a friend or brother. It’s the kind of thing we like to imagine will make a difference and build us up, but usually it doesn’t quite do the trick, not when it isn’t coming from the person we most want it from - in Nate’s case, Ted, and on a deeper level, his father.
In 1x07, when Ted is at one of his lowest points in the series, he lashes out at Nate. We know why he did. We understand that he has to sign his divorce papers, to essentially quit his marriage, which kicks up a bunch of his emotional triggers around quitting due to feeling like his father abandoned him. We also know he’d been drinking. So, we give Ted plenty of grace in that moment because we have the full picture. Nate doesn’t. Of course, Ted apologizes for treating Nate like that the next time he sees him and Nate forgives him instantly. It’s a lovely moment that again showcases what a thoughtful character Ted is, that he can earnestly apologize. But it’s also a lovely moment that shows Nate’s capacity for understanding and forgiveness when he’s been wronged.
As has been discussed a lot since the end of S2 aired, this conversation outside the locker room in 1x07 is the last time Ted and Nate have a one-on-one conversation before the scene in 2x12. I think it’s easy to overlook this turning point in their relationship and to think that everything’s been patched up in the apology, but the damage from that moment in front of Ted’s hotel room is substantial. I did everything I could to make you like me again. I can’t help feeling like Nate looks back on that night in Liverpool and feels that was the moment everything changed, the moment the attention started to shift, when Ted stopped liking him.
I wish more people would extend to Nate the same compassion we gave Ted following his angry outburst at Nate in 1x07. We all make meaning from the limited perspective we have. Nate was lacking important insight throughout much of S1 and S2, and that was compounded by feelings of inadequacy and abandonment. And I think when it comes down to it, Ted knows exactly how that feels. Empathy widens perspective. Ted’s not going to bask in schadenfreude; he’s going to extend empathy and compassion because he gets where Nate is coming from. He won’t take his pain out on Nate, even though Nate did that to him, and if we admire Ted’s capacity for forgiveness and understanding, this is the test of our own.
I hope fandom can rise to the occasion in S3.

Ted Lasso 3x9 Thoughts
This one might be tied for favorite episode of the season for me. While I’ve been mostly willing to vibe with the jam-packed episodes, I approached 3x9 with a bit of concern; if it felt like the story was getting bigger instead of smaller here in the final third of the season, I was going to start to lose my patience. (To translate: I am an impatient person but I'm also a pretty long-fused person, and me starting to lose my patience would be akin to someone with a short fuse going fucking ham on someone.) Luckily, I felt like each thread here spoke to the other threads really neatly, like watching a cohesive conversation take place in multiple rooms. Magically.
For this one, I'm gonna attempt some bullets that cover 3x9 itself, then I need to attempt to process this weird experience of MISSING TED (while also basically appreciating what he's doing, but missing him, but appreciating him, lawjefpawoijfapweoijafwepklajwef) that has me very :eyesemoji: about the next three weeks of my life.
Nate’s desire for connection and camaraderie didn’t overshadow his ability to recognize that Rupert was trying to manipulate him into a toxic night out! There will be consequences for pulling away, and he knows it, but he did the right thing anyway. I’ve seen some discussions and arguments re: Jade’s influence on Nate and whether we should attribute Nate’s backbone and ability to make better choices to the love of a woman, and whether that’s disappointing and belittling to both characters, but I think a lot of those positions (on either side) are too hard-and-fast. Nate has always valued the things he values, and his relationship with Jade hasn’t changed his values or the fundamental truth of who he is. At the same time, being physically and emotionally close to a person you trust feels really, really good. Why shouldn’t those good feelings have a positive impact on the reserves of strength you must draw on to do things like stand up to an evil asshole you hadn’t entirely let yourself notice is an evil asshole? Nate in all his multitudes has always been Nate; Nate who is in love is able to see himself more clearly. If we were all only allowed in our real lives to experience character growth purely independently, we wouldn’t get very far.
I’ve been thinking a lot about influence and obligation when it comes to Rebecca’s storyline, too. I was a little afraid, after 3x3 and the way she initially responds to Tish’s prophecies, that Rebecca would end up a lone actor, in a sense, tracking down clues and answers at the expense of fostering her actual existing relationships. While I’m still curious and nervous and excited about what all of it means, I really appreciate that Rebecca has shown up for people this season, especially here in the latter half. Rebecca is almost certainly being driven a little crazy by the unfinished parts of what Tish told her, but she isn’t isolating herself. In calling Roy out for his avoidant behaviors and lack of accountability for the press conference (and, of course, the way his work performance mirrors his decision to leave his relationship with Keeley), she demonstrates accountability as a boss and as a friend. I don’t need to see Rebecca conducting meetings or writing emails to know she’s working, but it felt really important to me to see her get upset with Roy, both professionally and personally, and break through his exterior. Ted, Trent, Phoebe, and even Keeley have chipped away at it this season, but the epiphany required Rebecca being Rebecca. And the energy between Rebecca and Roy is very !!!
I loved the way the Nate-Rupert-Jade, Rebecca-Roy, and Roy-Isaac(-Will!) interactions all reinforce the idea that no one has the full picture of what is happening in another person’s brain, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t act on truths as they are revealed, as difficult as it may be.
As a queer person who is thankfully many years removed from the most stressful coming-out experiences I’ve had (although of course there are still plenty of moments of having to explain or identify oneself to another person—it never really ends—I consider myself “out” in that everyone in my life who I care about knowing knows I’m queer, and, so long as general safety is established, I feel able to explain it to additional people in most contexts without much or any stress), I really loved and appreciated Colin’s storyline here. Very little about my identity or place in the world resembles Colins, but so much of this episode resonated. We’ve already seen Colin describe his relationship to his sexual identity to Trent, and within that same conversation he spoke about not wanting to be a spokesperson with the pressure of publicly representing gay men. I absolutely love that the framing of the locker room scene respected those desires; he tells his teammates and coaches he’s gay, but we the public aren’t part of the several seconds that the literal announcement occurs. We get to see the freedom and relief the truth brings him, but the lessons of this episode are for the people around him.
The downside of writing this a couple days after the episode airs means I’ve read a lot of discourse, but I don’t think this episode did a disservice to Isaac or Colin. The writers room in s3 included writers specifically experientially equipped to tell this story, and to me, it shows. It shows in the realism of Isaac’s well-meaning questions (which Colin wouldn’t have answered so graciously if Isaac wasn’t so genuinely curious and caring!), and the tiring ways that queer people are burdened with conversational “obligations” and explanations that are just different than what straight people deal with. Ignorance and awareness exist on an incredibly long spectrum, and for me this story was affirming, not traumatizing, beautiful, and yet it also included the exhausting imperfections that cloak even the most positive coming-out experiences.
I’ve also been thinking a lot about Ted’s speech. Basically ever since Colin said the thing about Grindr in s2, I’ve been certain Colin would come out as gay to the team and reckon with being closeted in the context of the men’s Premier League. And literally since he made that little comment, I’ve been nervous about how Ted would react. I already knew he was a politically progressive person who identified himself as an ally, so I wasn’t afraid he’d have some kind of bigoted rejection reaction. But I did worry that his reaction would be sooooo cringe and try-hard and awkward that I’d legitimately run into issues writing and posting fiction about his obvious latent bisexuality on our home away from home, Archive of Our Own. And while Ted’s seven-layer-dip Denver Broncos analogy WAS cringe and try-hard and off-base, I absolutely loved how unflinchingly imperfect it was and how, despite those imperfections, his instinct re: the point he actually wanted to make was spot on and extremely valuable. If a white, middle-aged, (past-tense-ish hahahahahahaha I’m so normal about the word “was”) straight man who’s worked in sports his whole life had figured out the perfect thing to say, I’d have rolled my eyes at the screen. It felt realistic to me that he desperately wanted to find an analogy or connection point, immediately regretted it, and still—because of who he is when the din of his thoughts gives way actual clarity—managed to articulate that it’s very, very important that Colin’s community actually cares about who Colin is and that he was able to share this information with them. It’s the difference, in many ways, between being doomed to continue to feel like you have two lives (because you’re surrounded every day by people who look past something important to you or pretend not to see the differences) vs. knowing that even if you never come out to the entire world, you aren’t splintering yourself because you’re able to be your whole self around the people who actually matter. Anyway, the speech was imperfect and unwieldy, and that was the point, and his actual message was essential for everyone in that room to hear, and that was the point, and I will be capable of continuing to write fic in which Ted is attracted to men without his reaction to Colin haunting me. (I actually already have an idea for a future fic in which he reflects more, but that’s literally a story for another time.)
At this point in the season, I feel so curious about, um. What is happening. With Ted Lasso. The guy. In both s1 and s2, I felt about a millimeter away from him at all times, even when he wasn’t onscreen. This season, he’s so intentionally obscured. Getting to go to that museum in Amsterdam with him—and, perhaps even more importantly, the Yankee Doodle Burger Barn, and perhaps even more importantly than that, the back of that bus—was a relief and a reconnection point that was much needed, but I am absolutely FASCINATED and MYSTIFIED at this point in time at just how effective and maddening it is that I’m having a lot of trouble understanding how he truly feels about himself and the people around him. Like, I would obviously love to watch him be in love with Rebecca. But I would also love to watch him be in love with a place, or with two places, or with coaching, or with his partially-lost Beard, or with the words and images that have come to him in visions, or even with the unhealthy things that pull at him, like booze and stewing and obsession. Basically every episode—at least for me—contains some glimmer of connection, to his self or to one of his friends, and it’s always fleeting, and I’m holding onto the almost certainty of the fact that the decisions he has to make are going to require some kind of visible reckoning. Most of my nerves about the final three episodes of this show as we know it are related to these questions.
As for this episode, I don’t think I’ve quite captured the FEELINGS I felt while watching it. (I also completely failed to go into Ted sharing his biscuits with Keeley and continuing his perfect streak of making it super weird whenever he shares biscuits with a non-Rebecca person. I LOVED IT.) This was the episode that made me the most audibly squeal-y this season. And the most curious about how Ted has managed to get so far into his own brain that I actually miss him on his own show! Very curious stuff. What are the next three Tuesdays going to do to my brain and heart?

For Roy and Jamie with triplets, how adorable would it be if Roy and Jamie brought the them to practice when they are a few months old and all three coaches stand at the side of the pitch with a baby Kent-Tartt strapped to their chest and they are the unofficial cheer squad for the Richmond Greyhounds? I just picture Jamie and the lads practicing but also veering off midway through the play to plant kisses on this tiny cherub cheeks, earning gummy toothless grins and squeals of delight from the babies before resuming practice and scoring the goal. I see Jamie constantly planting kisses on Roy too, earning grumbles from Roy, who secretly loves it and can't get enough of Jamie's affections. Triple love on the pitch for the win!
Anon this is so soft and beautiful 😭 Because it took me so long to see this, I'm going to write a little something!
"If you hurt either of them, I'll fluffin' hurt you"
Roy glared at the other two coaches who were in a similar position to him. They each had a little baby strapped to their chest, little legs kicking happily as their stared at their Dad while Ted and Beard looked unimpressed with the threat.
"Did you just say fluffing?", Beard raised an eyebrow, not even batting an eye when Pippy stared chewing on one of his fingers sleepily.
"Yes. Now shut up, just don't...don't hurt them", Roy gritted his teeth, one of his one hands holding one of Tilly's as she gave them a mini-Roy Kent glare that made Alfie, who was strapped to Ted, giggle and wave a fist at his sister.
"We won't", Ted replied honestly, no jokes or smart words, just a promise as he looked down at Alfie with a soft smile, "now let's go see our team"
The team were already running through some warm ups when they emerged from the tunnel out onto the pitch. Their arrival gaining their attention, but it was the triplets that stole the show as Dani cooed at them, making grabby hands.
"They're so precious", Dani grinned, making a move to walk over but Jamie bet him too it.
Roy knew his partner was fast, but it really was amazing how Jamie just appeared at their sides. His whole face had lit up the moment he had seen his little ones again, and he didn't hesitate to kiss all of them on the head (including Roy who got a kiss on the cheek).
"Did you already threaten them?", Jamie smiled, nudging Roy with an elbow that earned him a grunt from Roy and a disgruntled sound from Tilly, "She gets more like you every day" Roy couldn't help the pleased grin that crept onto his face at that as he looked down at his little mini-me. She already had the glare and little grunts down, and he was so in love with her and her siblings and their father that it felt like his chest was going to explode. "Why does Roy look like he shit his pants?", Iaasc asked as he jogged over, waving at the babies but getting glares from everyone in return, "Shit, no swearing, shit, I can't stop" "I got him coach", Sam laughed, the sound of it making all three of the triplets giggle along too because they adores Sam. He gave them a smile and poilite wave before dragging Iaasc away. Jamie got a few more kisses in before he was dragged away as they started training properly, but that didn't stop him or the team sneaking over to give the babies kisses or little high fives just to see them smile and laugh.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
55!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
183,074
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The short answer is basically "whichever one I'm feeling".
the longer answer is: Arata the Legend, the MCU (specifically my own OC content and Eternals), Good Omens, The Old Guard, The Wicked + The Divine, A Discovery of Witches/All Souls Trilogy, Doctor Who, Ted Lasso (in theory, so far) and like... other stuff I can't think of right now that I haven't published but still write for, and other stuff I have written fics for but wouldnt say I "write" for the fandom.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Okay
Rotten Work
Ethereal
First Word
everybody wants someone (i want to be somebody)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! Or I try to - I try to respond to every comment people leave, even if it's only a heart emoji or a 'thank you'. Because I want to show them I see them and appreciate them!!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Toss up between "no home sweet and no sweet home" with Joan having to run away from an abusive household in the middle of the night to a life of just constant running and loneliness she's not emotionally prepared for after having a relatively normal life and "my heart is a stone, my body is not my own" with Yataka dealing with years of blackmail, sexual assault and noncon suddenly being exposed to everyone by one of his abusers and just refusing to talk about it at all and rejecting the (admittedly flawed) attempt at comfort shown to him (points for being a fic I wanted to end with comfort and instead became my first hurt/no comfort).
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
It's hard to choose but I'm gonna say probably First Word (link above) because. I mean how does it get better than Human!Ten, Donna and Jenny being a little family together and Jenny's first word being Donna's name and Ten being absolutely in love with his girls-
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Oh I did like, back when I was 13. My ATLA OC fic got cyberbullied by some dude on tumblr, who copy&pasted whole chapters of my fic and then would go through the chapter and add shitty comments.
The only good thing about that situation was that he even added a whole post to express his confusion that all the comments on my fic were positive. everyone else was loving it. and then he apparently needed to ruin me and left his own comment telling me he was reviewing my fic. which of course led to a shock and some hurt feelings but uh, seeing him annoyed at everyone else liking the fic helped lmao now I can look back on it with amusement like what was going on with that guy that he felt the need to harass a 13 year old.
I also got another comment on the same fic accusing me of plagiarizing their fic and OC because both my oc and hers could bend 2 elements and had sort of similar names and when I went to read her fic it was so completely different from my own I had to LAUGH.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I've attempted it a few times but I really don't know what I'm doing with it.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've never written a whole crossover - I admit I did start an au fic where all different studio ghibli characters were in the story of Anastasia the movie, but it did not get super far before I stopped.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
luckily no.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but if anyone ever asked I wouldn't say no!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Oh my god.... I mean as hard as it is to choose it's gotta be TenDonna. like platonically, romantically, a secret third thing, they are amazing together and I love them so much.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I try to never say I'll never finish a fic, but there's one for certain I don't think I'll ever finish, Prince Mononoke - a role swap au of Princess Mononoke. I was writing it for years and had my grandma proofread every chapter before publishing. I put it on hiatus for years, but then she died, and it didn't feel right to keep going.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel I write dialogue really well. I try my best to hit the right voice for every character and I think I do a good job at it. And honestly it's hard for me to not write dialogue like half the time I'm like can you guys shut up already and progress the plot with actions instead-
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I'm not as poetic as I'd like to be, I guess. Like. some writers are just fucking masters with words and I feel like I'm stammering. I'm also not super confident in writing romance - like, pining, or friendly relationship with a splash of romance for fun? I've got that. Actual romantic relationships? Not so much.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If I do, I use google translate and hope for the best, but usually I don't. Ethereal has a lot of Canadian French in it because Marianne is from Quebec, but I use my sister (a French Immersion student) as my translator.
I mean I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Like, use the best translator website you can find and hope for the best.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
If we want to get really technical it was for The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, before I even knew fanfic was a thing. If we want to be specific to published fic, it was Avatar the Last Airbender.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
UGHHHH HOW DO I CHOOSE
honestly I have no way to choose. So I'm simply not going to lol
tagging: @dani-luminae @sighonaraa @altschmerzes @jamietarttsnorthernattitude @fallenangelontheceiling @vinatintasupernovita @strangelock221b @mousedetective @linguini17 and like, anyone who wants to do this!!!! it's fun :)

I had a fainting spell at work today and it was scary because people helped but then I was alone...I was wondering if you could write for Ted or Jason when the reader fainted at work in front of him? Thank you. It is okay if you don't
AN: So sorry that happened to you, friend. I hope you’re doing better, and I appreciate the request, hope it helps you feel better as well! 💕 (Wrote this quickly, please forgive any typos!)

“Y/N? You doing okay?”
You looked at Ted curiously from where you sat in the bleachers as training ran on around the two of you. You were supposed to be taking photos for the AFC Richmond Instagram but when you realized Ted was talking to you, you also realized you hadn’t taken any photos in quite a while. It was a blazing hot day—even Ted was down to just a single layer and some spectacularly short shorts which you had been sure to snap a photo of when you stepped out onto the pitch—and now that he got your attention you did feel a little hazy.
“Hm? Oh, yeah, it’s just crazy hot today. My head was in the clouds,” you gave him a soft smile, trying to reassure him, but he didn’t seem soothed. He had always looked after you since you’d started working at AFC Richmond, making sure you were fitting in, and that you had everything you needed. It was obvious you’d developed a bit of a crush on him, but if he noticed he didn’t seem to mind.
“Why don’t you take a break? Come down here and get some water,” he suggested, his hands on his hips. It wasn’t a demand, but he was using his authoritative coach voice and you were helpless to obey. But it didn’t mean you couldn’t tease. “Yes, Coach,” you said with a smirk, setting down your camera as he turned back towards the pitch. As soon as you stood up you knew something was wrong; your head was swimming more than ever and your vision went fuzzy, the grass a mass of green that seemed suddenly far away. You were able to make it carefully down to the pitch and a few steps towards Will and the water table before your weight suddenly shifted, your knees wobbling out from under you and Ted’s face breaking suddenly into your line of sight, a mask of worry and concern.
You weren’t out more than a minute but somehow when you came to, you were already in the recovery room, laying on a treatment bed. It wasn’t the first time you’d fainted in your life and you were more embarrassed than anything, but it was always a little scary to open your eyes and realize you were alone. You moved to sit up, but two strong hands against your shoulders pressed you gently back down, before placing a cool, damp towel across your forehead. Ted was looking down at your face, clearly pleased that you were conscious but still clearly upset.
“You’re here,” you said, feeling a little silly, “you should be at training, I’m fine.”
“You are most certainly not fine, and if you think I was going to let you sit alone in a room after fainting you’re even less fine than I thought,” Ted shook his head as he spoke, moving around to a chair he’d pulled up next to the treatment table. “I might not let you out of my sight for a while, little lady.”
“I wouldn’t be opposed,” you mumbled, but the room was so quiet you knew he heard you. “Sorry, I shouldn’t hit on you when you’re just trying to be nice.”
“You can hit on me whenever you’d like,” Ted smiled and you turned your head to him quickly, “and I’m not just trying to be nice. I care about you, Y/N. I’m surprised you hadn’t noticed…how I felt.”
How he felt? You couldn’t imagine that he meant what you thought he meant.
“Are you…saying that you feel something…for me? Like romantically?” You stumbled through the sentence, made even harder by the fact that you were still laying flat on your back, your head turned to the side.
“I, uh,” Ted scratched nervously at his neck, suddenly second guessing that revelation, “maybe now isn’t the best time to talk about—”
“No, I actually think it's a great time,” you interrupted quickly, taking the towel from your forehead and Ted laughed. “Can I sit up now?”
“I suppose,” Ted responded playfully, and you swung your legs over the side of the bed so you were facing him, close enough that you could see the amused glint in his eye, the slight nervousness to his expression as he brushed his fingers across his mustache.
You stated clearly, confidently, and with very direct eye contact, “I have romantic feelings for you, Ted.”
Ted grinned, meeting your gaze with a sure, steady confidence of his own, “I have romantic feelings for you, Y/N”
The two of you just looked at each other like lovestruck idiots for a moment before you felt a dull pain take over your skull and winced. “Fuck my head hurts.”
“Yeah, you didn’t go down gentle but I don’t think you have a concussion. I do think you need a trough full of water, some pain medicine, and some lunch, though.”
“You sending me home, Coach,” you asked playfully, watching as he stood and grabbed a bottle of water that he held out to you, and you took a grateful sip.
“No I’m taking you home, Y/N,” he corrected. He held out a hand to you to help you off the table, and even when the two of you stepped out of the recovery room he didn’t let go.

tag game (Horizon)
Thanks @nerd-artist for tagging me!! I am flattered :3
1. ride or die ship (your otp): GAIA/Lis ❤️ I felt so validated when Sylens said the "two moms" thing, you have no idea.
2. most annoying ship: I plead the fifth
3. second favourite ship: Erevad! I never considered them until I read a really good fic about them and I was sold lol.
4. favourite platonic relationship: Hmm 🤔 I really enjoy Aloy & Sylens :D I missed him a lot in HFW (given he wasn't in our Focus any longer). mlm-wlw hostility real. Also, Aloy & Gildun and Aloy & Morlund are both very sweet but I suppose they have similar vibes lol.
5. underrated ship: Any of the ones I mentioned lol, I feel like they don't get as much love as others, haha. Which is understandable because it makes sense to gravitate more towards the GAIA gang! But other than that 🤔 I think Aloy/Zo and Aloy/Alva are pretty cute and underrated, even if I don't exactly ship them myself c:
6. overrated ship: I plead the fifth
7. one thing i would change in canon: *side eyes HFW hard*
Just one thing, though? I'd have to concur with most of the people I've seen do this tag game so far and say it's Varl's death. I'm pissed about that.
8. something canon did right: Other people have also mentioned it before me, but I think Horizon's writing excels at the datapoints. Just slowly having to figure out the past, putting the pieces together, getting glimpses of the tragedies (and the little joys) that once happened in those places, filling in the blanks... The environmental storytelling is amazing 👌. The intrigue, the curiosity, the mystery. It really scratches the urge to explore abandoned places and imagine what it was life was like for the people who once lived in them, so close yet so far away. HZD really did it well with the Zero Dawn facilities and I think HFW captured that magic again with Thebes. I crave more of that.
9. a thing i'm proud of creating for the fandom PLEASE BRAG ABOUT YOURSELF I WANT TO SEE/READ YOUR ART: I'm not sure I can say anything I make is "for the fandom" since I only make OC stuff 😭 Believe me, I want to be more integrated in the fandom, but not as much as I want to focus on the blorbos from my brain 😔
I guess I can mention To Err is Human, my vampire AU fic, since, if all goes according to plan, that should be relatively fairly split between my OCs and canon characters. Sorry that it's taken me so long to update tho :( As for art, please look at my man :) And here he is again with my favorite Aloy I've drawn lol. I also still really like this one! Also this. And this. And this. And
I've realized I could go on all day actually so I'll stop myself now lol.
10. a character who is perfect to me (wouldn't change a thing): Sylens. I love him, crimes and all.
11. the character I relate to the most and why: Beta. Something something about characters who have the same neuroses as you but in their world their neuroses are justified (sigh). And Gildun! His quest in Burning Shores really grabbed me by the throat, oof. In some ways I also relate to Aloy but not as much, I think.
12. character(-s) i hate the most and why: Well, I could just name the usuals, Ted Faro, the Ceo, Lansra, etc. But they're the characters we're meant to hate, so, ironically, it doesn't feel right to say I hate them, you know? I appreciate a well-crafted villain, and I definitely appreciate their role in the narrative. So, do I really hate them? Yes but actually no.
It's like that one post that goes "I don't care if a villain is redeemable or not but by god please make them interesting." I would be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little bit insane about the likes of Faro and the Ceo lol, so I'd say they did their job. I actually enjoy them being in the narrative.
As for the Zeniths... I used to just hate them straight up, not just for what we're meant to hate them, but for what they did to the narrative. I then started my quick descent into madness until I came to love to hate them lol. But I still think they deserve this spot more than anyone else given that they still make me see red half of the time.
13. something i've learned from the fandom: uhhhhh I'm not sure? Interesting to see the differences between the Persona fandom and the Horizon fandom I guess. In a lot of ways they have the same issues all fandoms have but idk, it's different. I'll leave it at that.
14. three tags i seek out on ao3: I don't really read as much fic as I would like to because of readers' block... But when I do, I feel like I tend to look for Beta-centric stuff. And Nemesis stuff hehe but there's very little of that. I feel like, at least in this fandom, I tend to gravitate more towards genfic instead of ship-heavy stuff. Those aren't three tags but still three things so fair enough.
15. a song i strongly associate with my otp/favourite character: I have a few playlists but I'm not sure any songs in particular jump out to me as much as Sad Machine by Porter Robinson, which has been my quintessential Horizon song from the moment I finished HZD. It still gives me the same chills that going through ELEUTHIA-9 gave me... God, I really wish I could go back to when I was first playing it and experience that feeling again. I might actually cry listening to it now.
Tagging: @banukaihelpme, @cicadaknight, @thatpunnyperson, @snorkeldays and @hartlesshart, but absolutely no pressure to do it! I guess this is more of a [insert your fandom here] thing, so, for any other mutuals who see this, if you wanna do it for your fandom, please tag me as your tagger, I would love to see it 🙏

no one asked but here are my thoughts on the new met don giovanni from today. tl;dr: a couple of weird choices made but overall Quite good i liked it
elaine douvas jumpscare at the top lol
federica lombardi and ben bliss as anna and ottavio were the standouts to me. lombardi came out the gate STRONG with fuggi crudele and she keeps it up. and kudos to bliss as ottavio; i often find that he can be a pretty uninteresting character if not played carefully and bliss did a really great job making ottavio Interesting. face journey of the year award goes to his dalla sua pace (il mio tesoro honorable mention).
peter mattei sounds great obviously but is it just me or is he starting to get a leetle bit old for the role. not vocally but physically. like him next to ying fang is like. sure man yeah
alfred walker in the same camp honestly. like he did a great job singing masetto but i'll always laugh when like. giovinette che fate all'amore kicks up and they're like "here's the happy young couple :)" and the bass is obviously in his late forties at the youngest lmao
anyone else think adam plachetka looks. kind of like ted cruz. hello?
anyway i liked plachetka a lot largely because he seemed to actually remember that don giovanni is nominally a dramma giocoso and a lot of his little acting choices brought back some of the humor that i thought was a bit lacking in the production as a whole. also christ they bowl that fucking man across the stage a few times don't they
ying fang did a great job too. the lingering terror in her expression during la ci darem so juicy. also that bit in act ii when they're threatening leporello and she balls his shirt up in her fist even though he's like a foot taller than her. love her so much. also woman pretty
i liked stutzmann's conducting for the most part although nothing much Stood Out to me about it. except like two or three tempi i disagreed with and a couple of spots here or there that felt like the orchestra and singers weren't 100% together right away. but idk i'm not a conductor i assume doing a debut performance at the met with a new opera you haven't conducted before is A Challenge so.
a few scenes felt...strangely placid energy wise to me. notably the opening scene but a few other places too including elvira's arias for some reason? in some cases it's like i think more just could've been done with the blocking while nothing much else was going on but in other places there Was plenty of movement it just felt...low energy. idk. where's the hustle i thought this was life or death here
cool use of the fog rising out of the floor of the stage's incline
although the steep rake to the stage led to a few unintentionally awkward/funny (to me.) camera angles. like they were obviously shooting from stage level and it would normally be a straight medium/wide shot but because of the rake it ends up being a slightly weird low angle (especially funny to me when in terms of cinematography language this kind of undercuts the vibe of the character that's being shown onstage at the moment lol but what can ya do. i'm being very nitpicky anyway)
actually the set design in general surprised me. mostly because for like 90% of the show i'm like "it looks kind of interesting i guess but Why So Brutalist And Plain" although i like that having multiple levels lets there be some creative use of vertical space in the blocking. i was so ready to write it off as disappointing/underutilized to me until the very last chorus of the show they actually Do Something with it and it totally surprised me and i really liked it. made me wait for it! surprised me! credit where credit is due i liked that a lot in the end.
i do wonder though if this production would be completely undone with a little more color in it tho. like i Get what they were going for with all the grey and i do appreciate the roses and blood but i feel like you can still do More with a broader but still limited color palette without compromising the vision. at least you could be more creative with the lighting i feel like the met pretty consistently disappoints me with its lighting (which is usually "serviceable" to "attractive" but not really creative or adding all that much to the scene. sorry but musicals are still beating you at this particular game)
although what was with the ball scene. with the mannequins and random period dress for ottavio anna and elvira but no one else. i liked the costumes but what was the point
also that said re: lighting. a cenar teco FINALLY did something interesting with the lighting and projections. cool and i liked it. except for the fact that the projection was up for too long and you couldn't fucking see what was happening on the stage and don giovanni effectively just Disappeared. i realize this was intentional but either make the disappearance much more sudden/short or show me what happens to that little freak otherwise it just feels lazy
great cello in batti batti o bel masetto. liked.
FANTASTIC orchestra in la ci darem and especially its preceding recit. the combo of the theorbo + cello + harpsichord was so atmospheric, somehow adding both to the romantic atmosphere AND the "psychological horror" thing going on in that scene. which i love honestly that scene SHOULD look gorgeous and feel like a lead weight in your stomach and i love that they went there with it.
also sorry but the champagne aria could be blocked way more interestingly. try harder
mixed feelings on the blocking of the ball scene. i thought the choice to have the whole chorus there but be so still and stiff when dancing was interesting, it definitely conveyed the sort of control through fear that the don has on everybody, but at the same time the scene felt like it was missing life. as well as missing some of the chaotic energy i think is necessary to build up over the course of the scene to lead into the climax. plus what is that act finale? kind of a cop out imo not actually showing us a clever escape of any kind. i will give them points however for having the onstage musicians because i am a sucker for that. i could see one of those oboists onstage was playing a cocobolo instrument...preddy.
okay what the fuck was up with gia la mensa e preparata. i get that it can be a weird/tricky scene to block if you're doing a more Serious And Grounded (and/or Edgy) production (and this production i do think leans more towards that and further away from the comedy potential throughout, with some exception here or there) but dude the tonal whiplash. they go like full on farce for like a solid six minutes there it's kind of bizarre. like it's funny yeah but it feels like it comes out of nowhere and doesn't totally fit...like peter mattei didn't anyone ever tell you not to play with your food. although it was funny when he accidentally beaned plachetka in the face with a dinner roll. literally once elvira shows up the rest of the scene is Fine and i actually really like the way it's blocked and acted from that point on but What Was Up With That
also this is going to sound so weird both coming from me and speaking about this opera in particular but. it felt. weirdly not horny enough? also weird to say cause there was an above average amount of people lying on top of each other on the floor going on too but. like. idk. vedrai carino...a lot of elvira's acting...even some of mattei's i felt like there could've been More done in this respect without it pushing into the realm of excessive or distasteful. they really play up the He's A Sexual Predator angle of the character here but with more emphasis on the predator part and less on the sexual part i think. but idk maybe part of this has to do with me thinking walker and mattei look a little bit old and/or me not being generally as into men. ah well
anyway not to be really annoying all the time but if you liked this production (especially a lot of its aesthetic choices) i am once again recommending the 2017 aix production it's on youtube and it's soooo good. and has a Lot of similarities with this one stylistically. and also i love it

fanfic tag game
tagged by @userbats & @spoookysix, thank you both!! sorry this took me days to complete
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
7, soon to be 8 and more whenever i finish writing and editing.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
240,340 words across posted works.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
stranger things. bc as i told my mom, it's the only show i'm comfortable with bc of how many times i've watched it. i'd probably write ted lasso if i wasn't so painfully usamerican and anti sport.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
stranger i know so well at 150 kudos don’t, dont, don’t throw it away at 66 kudos pretty eyed, pirate smile at 52 kudos i will love you without any strings attached at 31 kudos tied me to you at 24 kudos
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i didn't used to but i just started to! i felt ummm weird about it and self-conscious but now i just think it's nice to say thank you<3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
i don't think i have one!! this one i'm currently writing might actually lmao.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
uhhh i think all of mine are pretty happy tbh. i think the happiest is peps bc i have a headcanon they get married in the front yard of the house so chrissy and barb could be there. also yk halloween graveyard wedding bc nancy caved to eddie's whims.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
no, not outwardly. but i wouldn't be surprised since i write mostly about rarepairs that people hate<3
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
not really. i'll write smut adjacent things and lead ups but not the actual act, no.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
i don't have one currently except for the stranger things x buffy the vampire slayer au that's in my head. i need another btvs rewatch (and to finish this one i'm on but i don't want to watch the last episode ya feel???) and to finish my other current wips. but all i have to say is nancy wheeler as the slayer uhhhh slays?

not that i'm aware of, no.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
i have not but it'd be cool!!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
twice. one of my first ever oc fics i once started co-writing with a friend of mine during a sort of all nighter after watching the crow. it did not last long and i ended up writing some more of it myself. and another time with a friend back when i wrote hp fanfic (groans @ past) but that never finished.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
i don't know if i have one. i have fandom specific ones but an all time favorite is too much to ask!!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
band fic you'll always be famous!!!!! (ronance one shot from it when????)
16. What are your writing strengths?
i think characterization is like the only thing i have going for me.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
grammar!!! tense switching for sure.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i usually try to stay away from it bc google translate isn't always to be trusted and then there's like regional specific translations and oof. i doubt myself even with saying like a word or two in a language i vaguely understand.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
i wrote bandfic when i started. mostly about good charlotte and mest. and occasionally early crackfic crossovers where all my favorite band people and skateboarders just uhhhh hung out... it made no sense but i was 11 so. embarrassingly enough the first non-band fic i wrote was harry potter. we all have to start somewhere i guess.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
peps. it'll always be my favorite ever.
no pressure tags: @stargyles, @rejectofsociety, @sweetpeapod & anyone who sees this and would like to do it<3

so a couple months ago i started the acotar series and today i finished. i am not anti any character in the series (except maybe amren me n her just don’t get along tbh) i’m more anti SJM.
i love her writing so i’m not gonna bash it and pretend like i didn’t just spend the last month and a half reading the ACOTAR books every day, but silver flames just seemed odd.
i LOVE nestas story, and as someone who wasn’t a fan of her before after reading her book i understand her a lot more. but i will never understand feyre hate. (if you have some pls stay away from my blog u aren’t welcome) i don’t understand why we can’t love nesta and feyre without knocking the other down. also calling feyre a housewife as an insult is embarrassing, her becoming a mother doesn’t make her any less powerful or any less badass.
now that we’ve got that out of the way,
i didn’t like feysand pregnancy being in this book, i personally would’ve rather had it be in frost and starlight (ik it’s supposed to be a novella but hear me out) it was a big moment for them but we didn’t experience it because we were w/nessian, i felt like the attention got taken away from both parties.
i feel like nesta still could’ve had her redemption arc but instead of the whole dying in childbirth thing it could’ve been her saving Feyre or whomever on the battle grounds i feel like that’s much more interesting.
i don’t believe for one damn second that rhys would’ve kept the pregnancy thing from feyre even if he thought he could find another way, i also don’t believe anyone in the IC would agree to secrecy like that especially because feyre is their high lady and deserves just as much respect as rhys. we spent the last four books with them and i just hate this inconsistency, clearly they love and respect her, why didn’t they tell her?
i just wish SJM was more consistent in her writing throughout her books and didn’t feel the need to shut one female down in order to empower another. Also SJM’s attempt at writing morally grey character gives me hives, like we’re supposed to hate tamlin but rhys has done things just as bad…. just stick to the black n white babes, or acknowledge your characters mistakes?? The shift in all the characters from this book was not one i enjoyed (cassian also seemed… off too i can’t put my finger on it)
whatever, thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Bill and Ted requests :)
Hiii! You sent me a request so I’m sending you a request. Can you do Bill and Ted (it doesn’t have to be poly if you don’t want to write it poly. One or the other is fine) and reader head cannons? If not that’s perfectly fine 😅
-Ghost
Tumblr media
WOO uhh no gender was specified soo...Gn reader ig
Im gonna do seperate and ya cant stop me either and this ask wasnt specifically asking for i certain genre sooo Imma just do it in general
William Stanley Preston Esq.
We all know bill ._. Dumb, Cute, Funny, obviously not the best at subjects.. Especially history but ofc he know better enough to shut something down! especially if it is making him, ted, or y/n uncomfortable
Lets just say one day you ask him "hey bill, why do you call yourself esquire?" and he's like "Oh well.. Because it sounds pretty cool and also because I heard that esquire is a british title descended from the position squire, an apprentice to a knight or something like that"
I see him as a heavily pansexual lmao HE DOESNT KNOW IT YET BUT I SMELL IT OFF HIM
Bill and Y/n.. they for sure hang out at his house way more, especially for band practice and bc teds father is a dick and we dont wanna hear yelling about alaska or military school whatsoever meanwhile we doing arts and crafts for a damn science project or smth 😭😐 so you both hang out more in bill's place or better yet .. Just hang out at 7/11, they had 7/11 in 1986 right? EITHER WAY, you hang out with bill at his house or go somewhere else for a date 😋
Any arguments? Forgive and forget babe, dont focus on ths past. I see bill on his knees begging adorably for forgiveness for bein stoopid AND WHY WOULD YOU NOT FORGIVE DIS MAN?!? but then again, I can promise you! Not a lot of arguments would even be happening tbh, y'all are chilling and killin like villains 😎
If you are ever caught wearing his crops tops, like he just showered and it smelt like him soooo why tf not?? right?! He's been dreaming of it, this was a sight to die for 😩
"Woah, babe.. You look ... excellent, like.. down rightoues!"
Ted is totally third wheeling, like.. how could not?? He might as well but be apart of the relario ship already -_- EVEN IF HE WAS THIRD WHEELING ON SOME OF UR DATES, EITHER YOU OR BILL (possibly mostly you) WILL BUY HIM A GIFT SO IT FELT LIKE HE WAS SORTA THERE TOO 😭💗 A switch but probably more dom but depends on what he feels, i feel like he could a lil pervy too but hey you chose to date bill so good luck
invites you to brand practice almost every fucking day, It never gets old and it never will (until he moves to santa carla wink wink)
Ted "theodore" Logan
Ted is.. ted :) but like... Special, ya know?
ted is sweet, like bill but just way too sweet cuz his brain is always brrr, ya know? 😃
He gets you gifts, treats you like a queen, always so kind, so understanding(or tries to be cuz brain go brrr 24/7)
If ur short, he will literally pick you up and carry you cuz u his queen(or king) 🙄😩
YOU PROTECT HIM FROM HIS DAMN FATHER
Lowkey, depending on you. you could possibly make a good impression on his dad, especially if ur his gf/study partner (or bf! either way, you get the point)
You probably babysat his brother a few times , lets just say he probably looks to you tbh
JUST AN OPINION BUT UHM.. I feel like, he would mostly be sub in sex like almost ALL THE TIME like i dont see him being all that dominant tbh, just me? well go away 😭 Ted just slips into the submissive for me, OKAY?! he just seems so adorable 😕😐
Arguments with ted? pfft, funny. You're a really- .. You're a funny person! like omgird you got some jokes
Loves thay you get along with his father better than him, he could learn a thing or two from as well with his brother. You might as well be another parent to his brother or smth, like ur a child whisperer-
ted gives me a vibe that speaks for itself way too loudly "The stoner type" ya know? If ur dating him and friends with bill in the future then I feel like they start smoking at 18 and 19 (18 for ted and 19 for bill)
Calls you an excellent babe, like bill but sweeter in a way?
Swoons when he sees you in his clothes or like his sweaters/shirts/pants/anything for that matter 💗💗
I tried my best,im so sorry if its whack. new to writing so personally it doesnt bother me a lot but still ;-;

Trivia TWednesday
Creators: give a “behind the scenes” look at one of your works. This could be things that got removed or changed, the origins of ideas/details, whatever you like!
Thank you @swearphil for tagging me!
I decided to write about time—curious, mystical, wondrous time as it’s one of my all-time favorite fics that I’ve written. For those that don’t know the fic, I’ll paste its summary here:
Alexis leans in, lowering her voice to a whisper. "I already lived today. Like, yesterday was August 20. My mom got back on Sunrise Bay, and I gave you all my clothes, and—"
"Alexis!" Twyla exclaims. "You did what?"
"Okay, I promise I will circle back to that, but." Alexis flattens her hands on the countertop. "Like, am I losing it, or is this something that maybe you've heard of happening before?"
Twyla purses her lips, thinking a little, before she turns her patient gaze back to Alexis. "I don't think that's ever happened to me, but nothing's impossible if you believe that it's true."
OR: Alexis finds herself reliving Start Spreading the News... over and over again.
This is a really long ramble about all of my feelings regarding Alexis’ overall arc in the show, how I see her relationship with Twyla, and my thoughts on her decision to move to New York, so I’ll put it under the cut...
(Also, I’m tagging @stereopticons @rosedavid @lilythesilly @roseapothecary @danieljradcliffe @rhetoricalk @hullomoon @schittposting @schitthappens and  anyone else who sees this!)
I first got the idea for this fic back in 2021, during @elevatefemslash/Elevate. I’ve always been fascinated by time loops, thanks to @schittposting‘s endless (pun intended) championing of the trope, and I thought this might be a fun prompt to leave for whoever ended up writing for me. (It ended up being @middyblue, who wrote like glass from sandy ground for me—not a time loop, but one of my all time favorite fics!)
After Elevate, I put the idea away in the back of my mind, since it didn’t get used by the writer, but it always sat there, waiting for its moment.
And then: I wrote a lot of Twylexis throughout all of 2021. Like, a lot. Some AUs, some canon-compliant, some canon-divergent, but when 2021 turned into 2022, I found myself itching for something new.
Along came @scrarefest/Rarefest!
I knew I wanted to write this fic for that fest, and I knew I wanted it to be focused on the growing pains that Alexis must have felt as she made her peace with deciding to leave Schitt’s Creek.
I know that not everyone thinks that Alexis should have left Schitt’s Creek, and prefer to have her either move back after moving to New York or move to Toronto or somewhere else that’s closer. Personally, I’m very on board with the decision that she made—I think Alexis wants to have a home to come back to, one where she’s seen and respected and wanted, unlike the way she grew up, but I think that where David might take comfort in the familiarity and routine of staying in Schitt’s Creek, Alexis is always seeking something new. I totally respect the viewpoints of others who disagree, but the fic—and the discussion around Alexis’ decision to move—was written from the perspective of that being the decision that was best for her.
Another big theme I wanted to play around with was the idea that part of Alexis’ breakup with Ted was because she’s now in the position where she can make something of herself through her own merits, talent, and knowledge.
It’s easy to see Alexis’ arc prior to Season 6 and think, “Alexis’ main storyline is Ted, and learning to love in a way that’s healthy and adds value to her life”—but as much as the Tedlexis breakup hurt me at the time, I love that the breakup reframes her storyline and makes us refocus on everything else—going back to school, going to college, launching Singles Week, opening ARC—through a new lens. Those weren’t whims, they were intentional, directional decisions that she made for herself, without anyone else telling her she should.
So now, post-breakup, instead of using other people to get what she wants, or relying on her looks, fame, and money to get her way, she has something for her very own and has the chance to pursue that on a bigger stage than if she stayed. And that, of course, brings with it questions of failure: am I good enough? Were these previous successes because of luck, or because of me? Am I making the right choice? Who’s to say that this will actually work out? Etc. Etc. Etc.
Those are already interesting, universal feelings and concerns, but they’re especially interesting to play around with when the character is also canonically a daredevil, who used to risk her life for excitement and adventure and the sheer thrill of getting away with something—but also, probably, did all of those crazy things to see if anyone would ever care enough about her to tell her to stop.
I always outline, so I started with that first. I did a lot of rambling to @schittposting @lilythesilly @roseapothecary @landofsonlali, and tried to sketch out the pace of the fic. The first part had to be when she decides to do something different, the thing that triggers the loop, and then the rest of it fell naturally into place. She’d fight it at first, keep trying to find ways to stay, but then as she relied on Twyla more and more to try to sort through the time loop, things she’d never been conscious of—the way she feels about Twyla, the attraction that’s always been under the surface, etc.—start to come to the surface. And I knew the fifth part had to be when she decides to break the loop, and the +1 had to be when it actually happens.
I won’t give away the ending of the fic here for those who haven’t read it, but one of my favorite things about the fic was getting a chance to play with a familiar fic format and hoping it worked out. And overall, I think I did a decent job distilling the long ramble above into a fic, hopefully.
If you read it, I’d love to hear what you think!
time—curious, mystical, wondrous time

Ok so I watched two episodes and skipped through the third one and I don't know it just seemed boring to me. Maybe I'm not the intended audience or something. I watched the cartoon avatar all the way through long time ago so there is a lot I forgot but I remember the driving force behind it being the bit of mystery, characters and humor.
The cartoon had more respect for the audience I think. What I loved about it was that they revealed a lot of things about the characters gradually. It felt like you could get to know them slowly over time and see them evolve. In they show they just do a bunch of exposition dumps and that's it.
[SPOILER for first episode and for the cartoon] They completely delete the part about Ang chosing the object that belonged to a previous Avatar. They just somehow know he is the awatar. They also ruin the emotional impact of the scene where Ang finds out all of the air nomads have been murdered because the audience knows exactly what happened from the very start. The same goes for the scene where the audience finds out Ang run away from the Air nomads. [END SPOILER]
I don't mind that it's more serious. I just don't like the writing and how information is introduced to the audience.
It just didn't have the avatar vibe for me.
I actually also watched Percy Jackson adaptation and I loved it. They changed a lot and there was some pacing issues but they kept the Percy Jackson vibe intact if that makes sense. Avatar didn't achieve that.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. Sorry for long ask. Please tell me what you think about both Percy and Avatar if you watch them.
i have to make a confession i have never got into pjo the only thing i have ever watch was the movie that for my understanding was bad compared to books. sorry for being fake dream stan
i love avatar thats why i wanted to be excited for live action but hmmm
