Top Ten List
One of my favorite things to do after a stressful day is to go on YouTube and rewatch old videos that I find motivating. A video that I constantly revisit is “11 Ways to Fill Your Notebooks” by Lavendaire. In this particular video, there was one idea that caught my eye and it was to ‘draw a picture of your ideal self in a month.’ I would attempt that idea, but 1) It’ll make me look like a caricature* artist and 2) I will rip out the journal pages when looking back at it. Instead of creating a journal full of nasty pictures, I decided that putting it online (specifically on this blog) would be better in the long run. Now you (the reader) will have to bear with me as I list out my “future vision” of myself at the end of June 2018.
1) Be able to run for five minutes straight without stopping (Be more fit)
I’m pathetic when it comes to running. During the band design clincs, all my friends were in front of me when we had to continuously jog under the beating sun for twenty five minutes straight. When it comes to mile runs, I have to force myself to keep going for what feels like an eternity. At the start of this summer, I want to run at least one mile everyday at a constant speed in order to build up my currently non-exsistent stamina.
2) Be more organized
Every two weeks, my desk starts to get dirty again (probably because I always forget to recycle all the junk paper). It has become a routine for me to wake up on an early Sunday morning and clean up the messes I’ve made. Currently, my desk looks like a trash pile. As soon as school ends, I want to throw away all my papers and have a fresh start to the summer.
3) Spend some time crafting
For years, my family has asked me why I’ve spent so much time on the internet. In fact, my sister called me out for not being an “average child” and for not spending time doing other things, like reading, drawing, meditating, etc. I want to prove my family wrong by investing in a new hobby this summer, particularly crafting. Recently, I went to Michael’s and I was in awe, staring at the countless supplies I’ve missed out on all these years. They were ethereal* and I just wanted to fabricate* a beautiful design out of all of them.
4) Have an improved fashion sense
I hate to admit that a variety of different clothes look terrible on me. Half of the clothes I’ve tried on in the mall’s narrow fitting rooms make me look constipated. Eventually, I’ve given up and retreated to wearing oversized school t-shirts and hand-me-downs. However, I ordered a light blue cold shoulder shirt and I have to say that I look stunning in it. I want to look more refined and feminine during the future.
5) Learn a new language
I’m probably being a little bit too extra here, but I think it’s cool to learn more languages. Two of my friends are currently learning a language and they’ve inspired me to do so myself. I already know a little bit of Spanish, but that’s from countless hours of the Quizlet “Match” game during weekends I feel unproductive. Since I already know a little bit of Chinese, I want to start learning more about it. During June 2018, I want to learn how to write basic greeting terms.
6) Make more meals
As of right now, I only know how to make instant oatmeal and ramen (is that considered cheating?). I recently discovered that I really enjoyed cutting up fruits and watching Tasty videos. Furthermore, a lifestyle/motivational YouTuber named Krist Yu has stimulated the “creative” side of me. I already have a penchant* for food and I’d like to start creating it myself.
7) Have a longer attention span
Why don’t people admit that fact that they can only concentrate for about 10 minutes before zoning out? I’m going to admit right here and now that I can only concentrate for 15 minutes (including checking the timer three times during my study sessions) before I have the need to get my butt out of my chair. When I decide to study during June, I want to be able to sit at least 30 minutes in a chair before getting distracted. It will help me during the school year, when I have loads of homework to complete.
8) Reach for a higher score on the PSAT
I will be a sophomore in 2020. As of right now, that’s more than 365 days away and it seems like forever. Unfortunately, time is fleeting* and before I even know it, I’ll be taking the PSAT. The highest grade I’ve received so far is a 1280 on the PSAT, which is not-so-good. Fortunately, I do have a lot of time during the first half of summer to practice specific sections of the PSAT I have trouble on. At the end of June 2018, I want to at least raise my score up to a 1320.
9) Develop self-confidence
I act egotistical at school, because I don’t want to show the part of me that’s terrified of what’s going to happen. I had high school band auditions on May 15 and my heart was pounding. In my mind, I believe that if I’m too confident about myself, I’ll always find a way to screw up. I want to slowly teach myself a form of self-confidence that allows me to feel better about myself, but not overconfident so that I can trust myself.
10) Redecorate my room
I’m obsessed with room decor. In fact, my dream room is currently located in a Pinterest board. I never had the time and effort to decorate my room during the school year, because all that mattered to me was ‘sleep.’ I want to be able to craft a place that I’d be proud to flaunt to my friends and look at when I enter it.

Maintaining willpower is not the story of passing the sea without a storm, rather it is about overcoming all such challenges.
So, to get past the storm you need to develop powerful habits.
What are some effective habits that you can adopt from today for a self-disciplined life?
Always remaining ahead of time for controlling stress
Becoming a morning lark to maximize your time
Become indifferent of what others will think
Become mindful of your eagerness
Train yourself
Eat a healthy, wholesome diet
6- Training yourself
 To strengthen your willpower and remain self-disciplined you need to train yourself.
By training yourself through different exercises you will be releasing comfortable hormones that would suppress the stress hormones.
If you are thinking of different ways of training yourself the go on for :
Jogging
Crunches
Biking
Strolling
Swimming
And this list will never end. The key is to look for a way of physically strengthening yourself.
By getting physically strong you will become mentally tough and self-disciplined.
7- Getting to know yourself 
You will never be able to develop a stronger will power without knowing your true self.
Bear in mind that sometimes we are trying to find the answers to the problems, whose answers exist within us.
So verge on a journey of self-discovery.
You need to rediscover your values so that they could become a pivotal point of guiding your will power.
The best approach which I take into practice is journaling.
I have been doing journaling for manifestation and for rediscovering.
Pitiful is the life that fails to uncover who you are.

Talk to yourself and get self-disciplined.
There is nothing to get overwhelmed by. You can simply take 5 to 10 minutes out each day for scripting.
8- Handling stress
 You will find your stress level increasing throughout the day.
Stress will be that invisible enemy that will threaten your will power at every stage. What will be the results?
An undisciplined life. You will get sunk into an emotional misery, sleep depletion, and poor diet. So what to do?
Find what works as your stress relievers.
Here are a few ideas:
Practice journaling techniques
Go for mindful meditation
Listen to charging-up songs
Grab a punching bag!
9- Getting extra sleep
 Many individuals deprive themselves of the necessity of sleep that is needed for the growing willpower and motivation.
Let’s get a little scientific here.
By getting sleep disadvantaged, you are impairing the prefrontal cortex.
What role does the prefrontal cortex play?
Well, this is in charge of growing your retention in discovering or studying apart from boosting the willpower.
Some tips:
Sleep no less than 6.5 hours, maximum of 8
Create a zen-like atmosphere – dim light to no light, no sound
Drink a cup of cherry juice
Take a heat to bathe to wake up with great vitality next morning
10- Determining the obstacles
 Prepare for the challenges and obstacles in advance.
You need to get hold of your life by foreseeing the obstacles.
Challenges are bound to strike so the wise option is to be well-prepared. If you will be prepared then the barriers will not harm you.
If you are wondering that in which domains you need to remain prepared then:
Your financial plan must be backed by one mean or the other
Your time. You need to be prepared that at any moment you can experience a lack of time thus how you manage your willpower going.
11- Reviewing your routine
 Self-discipline calls for the updated routine and that cannot be achieved by first getting the review.
You need to review and find what is going wrong.
Your life will remain stagnant if you will be caught up in the monotony of the old routine. Thus, to make your will power going you need to have a change.
Start by the modification process and that too little by little as you cannot change the routine completely in a day.
If you used to wake up at 8 then try 7 then 6 then 5 (yes, at 5. I wake up at five and it is a blessing)
Include journaling in the routine.

12- Being mindful of the self-talk
 What you say to yourself directly affects the way you live. How so?
Well, if you are used to saying that
“I can’t do that . . . ” then there is a huge probability that you would not be able to do that.
Your self-talk is directly sinking into your subconscious mind.
Once your thought sinks into your subconscious mind they turn into belief.
And belief guides your life . . . it guides the action you take, it guides to miracles you attract.
So be mindful.
You can not have the strong will power of self-discipline if you will keep chattering about the impossibilities.
Do not limit yourself in any way thus replace your every negative suggestion with a positive one.
Even if you do not believe Or partially believe in the positive suggestion.
Even if you think that you would not be able to do . . . just repeat the affirmation that you can.
This repetition will change your life.
You will ultimately believe.
13- Making use of affirmations
 Talking about affirmations!
Most interesting topic as they have the capability of changing your whole lifestyle. Life is a bumpy road.
It will throw you down and force you to live. In such cases, you need to own power tools like affirmations.
This tool will make sure that you remain undamaged when life threatens to damage you.
Simply repeat the affirmations in the morning, throughout the day, and especially at night.
The key is to repeat with conviction.
Listed below are some examples. 1. This day is great, It will go great and I know it 2. No matter how time tests me, I will never quit. 3. I’m at peace with myself. 4. Life is simply beautiful. 5. I own the capability of achieving my goals

14- Getting aware about the selection
 Monitor your choices and see what is influencing your decision.
Which pivotal thoughts drive your actions, decisions, or choices.
This is extremely important in getting self-disciplined.
You need to review a thought before following it blindly else it will make you suck at self-management.
Don’t let your thoughts manage you.
If you have willed to make juice for yourself and ended up making an egg then see what influenced your will power.
15- Knowing your passion
 A self-disciplined life and a strong will power need persistence.
And one can never achieve persistence by an unknown driving passion.
You need to ask yourself your “why” else out of everything you do, several will remain incomplete.
You will find advanced willpower once you start taking pleasure in what you do!
16- Weeding out negativeness
 Your peace of mind can be destroyed as long as you have the poisonous energy surrounding you.
Thus, spend a good amount of time in identifying which act, and who is your energy drainer.
Don’t let your will power weaken. Remember every person to whom you tell your problems is not your friend.
Thus, effectively get them out of your life. Remember you are not obliged and you never were.
How to filter people?
Simply filter the people if they own the following attributes:
One will give negative feedback
One will make you feel down
Joke around about something related to you, without realizing the pain it causes
One who can never please or help you in any way when approached.

17- Your Reward
To get going, you need a reward. So simply reward yourself and never expect someone else to do that for you.
You deserve your present . . .
With every small accomplished target, you can reward yourself . . .
it can be as simple as dining at your favorite place! Little things matter!

Sometimes simply learn to sit back and chill.
You do not have to put a strain on yourself.
Willpower is not about showing the world how much work you do. . . instead, it’s about managing everything in a balanced way.
It is about working, yet chilling and monitoring!
It is about living productively while not compromising on all the fun which life has to offer.

If you truly want to achieve success then become a productivity powerhouse.

I invested in myself for a better life.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU’RE SICK OF IT

1. Make A Detailed List Of Everything You Are Dissatisfied With In Your Life
You can’t fix a problem, if you don’t know what the problem is.  So the first step in transforming your life is to become crystal clear about what the problem areas are.  What are you unhappy with exactly?
Here is a list of possibilities to get you started.
Physical Well-being
Sleep/Energy levels
Exercise
Diet
Stress levels
Mental Well-being
Anxiety
Depression
Other
Relationships
Significant other
Kids
Extended family
Friendships
Work
The kind of work you are doing
The place where you work
The people you are working with
How much money you are making
Hobbies & Interests
What you do for fun
How much time you have to devote to your interests
Where You Live
City/town
Neighborhood
Your apartment or house
If these prompts don’t get your wheels turning – if you just have a vague feeling that you are unhappy, but you are not sure why – then work on #2 first and come back to this step.
2. Create A Vision Of Your Ideal Life
You will never be able to build the kind of life you want to live if you don’t know what that life is like.  So the next step is to figure out what exactly you want and create a detailed vision of your ideal life.
How do you want to feel?  What do you want to do?  Who do you want to be with?
In order to complete this step successfully, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Self Awareness Is Key
You need to find your authentic self.  You need to become aware of your true preferences, your personality traits, your strengths, and your weaknesses.  This is the only way to create a life that is a good match to the unique person that is YOU.
This Is About What YOU Want
The only way to create a life that YOU are happy with is to focus on what YOU want from life.  Let go of other people’s expectations from you or for you.  Let go of what you have been taught you should want and figure out what you actually want.
Liking Something In Theory Is Not The Same As Liking Something In Practice
Liking the IDEA of something, is not the same as ACTUALLY enjoying it.  Given my interest in psychology and helping people, I like the IDEA of being a therapist, but I know that IN PRACTICE interacting with people all day long would be way too exhausting for a highly sensitive introvert like me.
Admiring Someone Doesn’t Mean You Would Be Happy Living Their Life
We can have great regard for some people and admire what they are doing with their lives, but know that we would be miserable living their lives.
Settling Will Put You Right Back To Where You Started
You want to change your life, because you are unhappy with it as it stands.  So as you create your vision, let go of self imposed limitations that will leave you settling for just a different variety of unhappy.  Let go of “normal”.  Let go of “reasonable”.  Let yourself aim high.  Let yourself dream.
You Are Allowed To Keep Adjusting Your Vision
As human beings, we are changing, growing, and developing all the time.  We are constantly learning new things about ourselves and the world.  Don’t be afraid to keep course correcting and adjusting your vision, as doors open to opportunities you didn’t even know existed before.

3. Put The Life Areas To Be Changed Into Priority Order
You absolutely CAN change your whole life, but you can’t change your whole life overnight.  Whenever I have tried to implement too many changes at once or whenever I have tried to achieve too much in too short of a period of time, I have ended up right back in square one: overwhelmed, stressed out, and unhappy.
So put the problem areas in priority order and work on them in that order.
We all have our unique priorities in life and you should stay true to yours.  In my own life, I have found that physical well-being has to remain priority number 1.  If I’m tired and not feeling well, it’s very difficult for me to work on reaching any of my other goals.  So sufficient rest, good nutrition, and regular exercise are kind of the foundation on which everything else in my life is built upon.
Here are my simple rules for how much change to take on at any one time:
Work On One Habit At A Time
If you are changing a habit, work on ONE habit at a time.  When that ONE habit has become automatic, work on the next one.  For example, when my babies weren’t babies anymore, I wanted to start exercising again and improve my diet.  I focused first on establishing an exercise routine.  After a few months, it had become second nature for me to go for a run first thing every morning and only then did I start making changes to my diet.
Don’t Compromise Your Health Or Relationships That Matter The Most
When working to achieve other life goals, only take on as much as you can without compromising physical well-being and relationships that are most important to you.  For example, I’m working on changing my career at the moment, but it’s happening very slowly, because I’m a wife and mom first and foremost and because I make taking care of myself (sleep, exercise, and food) my number one priority.
4. Learn How To Transform Your Life – One Area At A Time
One of the biggest obstacles to changing your life for the better is not knowing exactly how to go about it.  This has been a reoccurring theme of my depression as well: I’m unhappy, but I don’t know how to change things.  And when I don’t know how to change things, I start thinking it’s probably not even possible.
But here’s the thing.  Whatever problem you are struggling with, someone else in human history has struggled with as well.  Actually a whole lot of someones have likely struggled with the same problem.  And some of those someones are out there talking about overcoming that problem. Or recording podcasts.  Or crafting blog posts.  Or even writing entire books.
Take advantage of those people.  Learn from them.
Start with your life area priority #1 and research how other people have managed to make a similar change.  Google it.  Pinterest it.  Order a book from Amazon.  Check out the growing library of life change “how to’s” right here on Solutions To All Your Problems.
Some advice you run into won’t work for you, but some of it will.  Keep what works for you and ditch the rest.
5. Set Specific Goals And Create Detailed Plans For Achieving Those Goals
You know what you want and you know how other people have gotten exactly what you want.  It’s time for you to start taking action.
But action can be scary.  It’s new and different and OMG what if you fail?!
Here are two things I have learned to do to make action less scary:
Set Smart Goals
SMART goals are:
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Realistic
Time-bound
For example, “to get in shape” is not a SMART goal.  “To be able to run for 30 minutes three months from now” is a SMART goal.
Create Plans With Itty Bitty Baby Steps
Big goals are scary, because they are BIG.  They are GIANT and OVERWHELMING!  But they become a lot less so, if you break everything into itty bitty DOABLE baby steps.  Let’s take the “run for 30 minutes three months from now” example.  Here are the first itty bitty baby steps one could take to achieve this goal:
WEEK 1
buy a pair of good running shoes
find comfortable clothes to run in
make a play list of music to listen to while exercising
WEEK 2
day 1: 3 minutes of running + 15 minutes of walking
day 2: 4 minutes of running + 15 minutes of walking
day 3: 5 minutes of running + 15 minutes of walking
6. Take Control Of Your Time
Making life changes takes time.  If you want to lead a healthier lifestyle, you probably need to find more time for sleep, exercise, relaxation, and cooking.  If you want to change careers, you probably need to find time for learning new skills.  If you want to connect with your significant other more, you probably need to find more time for hanging out.  And so on and so on…
Here are three ways to deal with the inevitable time issues:
Start Time Blocking
Here’s what I mean by time blocking: Start planning your days out in advance by writing down how you will be spending each half-hour block within the day.  It sounds super simple, but it works magic in terms of helping you be more intentional about how you are spending your time.
Stick To Your Priorities
Always keep YOUR personal priorities in mind when you are setting up your daily schedule.  When you don’t have time for everything, the things that are not TOP priority need to be cut.  And yes, this means that you need to start saying no to some people and activities you used to spend time on.
Slow Progress Is Better Than No Progress
Sometimes you won’t be able to spend as much time as you would ideally like on whatever life goal you are working on at the moment.  When that happens, just do what you have time for. 
Remember that slow progress is better than no progress!  Even if it takes you ten years to get to where you want to be, it’s better to get there in ten years than to not start at all and still be stuck ten years from now.
7. Keep Yourself Motivated
Making life changes is hard and takes time.  How do you stay motivated to keep going?
In my experience, here are the conditions that need to be present in order for you to stick to it for the long haul:
You Are Excited About Your Goal
When you nail down #2 – creating the vision for your ideal life – it becomes a lot easier to find the motivation to take the steps you need to take.  You will be EXCITED to do what you need to do, because this is something YOU ACTUALLY WANT.  More than you have ever wanted anything else.  (And if that’s not how you feel about your vision, then it’s back to the drawing board!)
Your To-Do List Is Doable
The more you are able to break the tasks ahead of you into baby steps, the more doable they become.  Set outrageous end goals, but break them down into itty bitty baby steps.
You Have A Growth Mindset
Make the words YET, BUT your new mantra, as in “I don’t know how to do this YET, BUT I can learn.”
Yes, changing your life is hard. But it’s even harder to stay stuck in a life you don’t like.

Meet A Young Visionary. #GirlBoss

Meet a Young Visionary: We had the opportunity of interviewing a young bright, talented soul by the name of Kaylan Jefferson. Many of you may also know her as “The Visionary Boss.” She’s currently taking the world by storm with her blog platform that showcases her style, writing, other influential women, but she’s also launched her own organization at the age of nineteen. Whew! Now that she has inspired us, we hope that you become inspired too.

Now for starters, she’s very confident with who she is and what she does. When we asked her about herself, some of her goals, and basically her influences this is what she had to say:
 “I like the refer to myself as the one & only muse. I use the rhythm of my conversation and words to create intimate, vulnerable think pieces, to witty narratives and self-improvement, and candid, groundbreaking content. I’m newly nineteen years old and it feels wonderful. I have always been a huge life enthusiast. Funny, I’m somewhat of an introvert, but I have a fondness for communication and networking. When I was younger my passions ranged from wanting to being an author, a fashion designer, to a cinematographer. Nonetheless, in one sense or another, I wanted to be a boss. A CEO! Hence my blog and platform: The Visionary Boss. I was born up north, but have lived in Tampa for pretty much all of my life. As far as influential women in my life, I would definitely pay homage to my mother: a queen, a beautiful soul and a great confidant, all in one. My mom has always supported me and been someone I look up to, entrepreneurial wise and more. She has this eclectic, earthy, warm approach to everything she does. Her seamless nature almost seems effortless, at times. That’s the kind of boss I want to be—I want to execute my passions and moves in a natural, fitting way.”

 Not only has Kaylan been an influencer herself, she has also been influenced by someone very close to her to start her on business venture. When we asked Kaylan about who influenced her to start her own business, she said:
“My mother has influenced me to start my own business, because she was an entrepreneur and a self-made business woman at the age of nineteen. I am gracefully following her lead. Being a business owner is humbling, because I'm constantly challenging myself. Everyday, I am trying different methods to reach an audience. At the moment, I am selling sophisticated, sleek sunglasses. For $5 you can either get a cup of coffee, or a beautifully crafted pair of sunnies from an independent, black-owned business. I started the Visionary Boss Shop when I was a senior in high school. I remember investing my money into the project, getting a great model to showcase the shades, and taking the photos for them. I was told that my idea was 'small' and 'good-luck growing my little business,' by an individual at the time. Now, I just smile, because I'm genuinely happy that I got the experience of creating and developing my own merchandise. No one can take that away from me. I do not wear it on my sleeve, but I am proud to call myself an entrepreneur.”
 Your brand has to be very unique and the name has to along with some type of message. We thought that “The Visionary Boss” was very unique and wanted to figure out what the meaning was behind it:
 “The Visionary Boss is not an alter ego or alias. It is merely my reality. Being a Visionary Boss is dreaming, envisioning and creating an aesthetic of your own while making waves. I am creating visuals, literature and content with simplistic, realistic concepts and story lines that have life-changing tendencies and perspectives. Rewind to my sophomore year of high school. Second semester. During this time in my life, I was in the process of preparing for a pageant. I made it through the auditions, initial interviews, the practices, panels of judges before the show, the photo-shoots and finally the dress rehearsals. The morning of the pageant, we had rehearsal and the host and main coordinator of the show gave all the girls the run-down of the live show and some questions we'd have the answer, after the 'runway' portion of the show. "Describe yourself in one word." That's what he told us. From that moment on, 'visionary' just was ingrained to me. I'm an introspective, deep thinker. I reminisce while dreaming of the future to create a present. It is always my season.”

  Being a female entrepreneur has become more common in today’s age. One thing that can detour a lot of people away is how to start and where to start. Getting your idea from pen and paper to reality can be hard, but it’s not impossible. Our young visionary had a few words for our young, upcoming entrepreneurs:
“My advice for aspiring, young entrepreneurs is to plan accordingly and to be realistic. A blog, a business or any passion project does not happen overnight—but it does require late nights. Being strategic and thinking ahead is my best advice. Also, less is more. You do not need to tackle a million different avenues to be seen as a worthy entrepreneur. Minimalism is a beautiful thing. Have a clean-cut office setting to do your work, be organized and ahhhhhh, take a deep breath. I’m all for being on my grind, but if something is effecting my mental state, then I will take a break. This summer, I’m balancing my summer pre-med classes, my full-time marketing coordinating job, and the glorious thing I call my blog: The Visionary Boss. 24 hours is not enough. Like Ginuwine said, ‘Give me 24, give me 24.’ So, basically, I never try to overwork myself. I can simply just get up the next morning and get as much as I can do, possible. Real bosses get sleep, haha.
You asked what problems I’ve faced as a young, black entrepreneur. For starters, being a young, black entrepreneur is a market and network of its own. Personally, I have not had any huge, underlying issues or obstacles. If anything, I think being a young black woman influencer, entrepreneur and blogger has helped me. But, universally speaking, I do think there is too much of a ‘I’m a bigger boss’ elitist competition between young black professionals, bloggers, etc.  The world—at least the independent black marketing and network world would be a lot more vibrant, if people built together. Too many times I scroll down my Insta feed and see young black fashion designers, models, bloggers, influencers and business owners who have this super elitist complex and promote the fact that they have haters and copiers. Yawn! Not everything has to be this elaborate, over the top competition. Just put your heart and soul into your work, be confident in that and network with others.”
Passion is the one thing that seems to drive any and every one when it comes to their dreams. Kaylan was able to tell us her passions and how she figured out what her passions were at a young age:
“My number one passion in life is to evoke a feeling of warmth, inspiration and revelation. I have a passion for aesthetics, literature, film, the universe, the cosmos, the ocean, the mind and body. I organically figured out my passions when I was fifteen. It was on a Summer night that I call one of my many 'nostalgic nights.' It is the intuition you get about life on a hot summer night or intimate fall evening. It is the reflection along with a dream. I want to create eminent, eclectic masterpieces with ancient allusions, aspects from traditional literature and atmospheric, relevant vibes. And, I want to write. And be a CEO. These are my passions, that may be larger-than-life to some, but heaven sent to me.”
We live in a society that has powerful women making their marks in every industry. These women to say the least, influence majority of us in many ways to pursue our own dreams. Our fellow young boss had a few influential women in mind:
“There are so many bold, unapologetic women powerhouses. From Ava Duvernay, to Debbie Allen, Oprah Winfrey,  Issa Rae, to Solange and Beyonce Knowles. Those are women bosses, right there. All of these women are creators, producers and game-changers when it comes to filmmaking, entertainment and creating vivid concepts. I am an aspiring cinematographer and I have filmed, produced, edited and created mini documentaries, short visuals and look-books. In high school, I spent a lot of time dissecting behind-the-scenes and production for music videos, critically-acclaimed movies and even concerts. I wanted to be the modern-day female Spike Lee. But, in all honesty I thank the women mentioned above for inspiring me.”
There’s always speculation about what the future may hold for many, but Kaylan seems to continue to have the bright spirit and drive to succeed and tap into way more in the future:
“I’m going to have a lot of fun with this answer, because I have a dozen vision boards in the back of my head. Ten years from now I will be twenty-nine years old. I will have my pharmacy degree, (cheers to that), and continue to be the CEO of The Visionary Boss. Honestly, I have always envisioned myself living a simplistic, yet larger-than-life life. By 29, I will be married to my equivalent, and he will most likely have a growing business—and we’ll be partners for a business that is something organic or natural, or dealing with fitness. Maybe all three.  I would have successfully spent my twenties, traveling, networking, branding and taking lots of photos, capturing the warm, exciting moments. But honestly, in ten years I want my platform to turn into a brand, and I want to promote my lifestyle to others and be a great CEO.”
Being a young, black entrepreneur can have its cons but it for sure has its pro’s. Kaylan, who is a young, black entrepreneur herself feels the complete opposite of what most may think about being a black female entrepreneur:
“It feels limitless. The only thing stopping young, black entrepreneurs is believing you have to follow a specific formula. And trying to separate thyself from older, original influencers to seem 'different.' There is nothing wrong with being influenced!”

 As a entrepreneur, your number one goal should be making an impact or mark on the world instead of sitting around not trying to make change. Honestly, that’s what being an entrepreneur is about… making change. When Kaylan was asked about how she plans to make an even bigger impact on the world, this is what she had to say:
 “Recently, I started and launched an organization for Top-Shelf, ambitious, creative, well-rounded, vibrant young women + boss babes in Tampa who want to network and give back. This organization and sisterhood is called MUSE—because I, The Visionary Boss surrounds and supports herself around other goddesses who are creative influencers. Through this organization, I want to show representation to young WOC and create a refreshing networking environment for like-minded aspiring bosses.”

Who are you and what business did you start?Hey, we’re Tom and Alex—Co Founders of Saint Belford.Our mission is to empower others to keep self-care on top of their to-do list so that they can design, build and live a life that genuinely fulfills them, without compromising their wellbeing in the process.We create physical diaries (called Curation) that focus on self-care and personal growth for people who want to prioritise their wellbeing and live life on their terms. We’ve incorporated over a dozen lifestyle tools into one A5 sized planner—things like goal-setting worksheets, habit intention worksheets, habit tracking tools, weekly meal planner, annual bucket list, weekly challenges, pre-week planner to properly map out your week, daily self-care planner… the list goes on—and that’s what sets us apart.imageOur customers are predominantly women like Alex who have either experienced some level of burnout or they recognise the need to slow down and recharge amid the chaos of modern society. In our second year, we almost quadrupled this amount, turning over 160k in less than six months.imageWhat's your backstory and how did you come up with the idea?There were 3 reasons that lead us down the path of running our own business.In short, it was a happy accident.1 - Experiencing burnoutMy experience with burnout and mental health issues was probably the primary catalyst for starting Saint Belford. I was taking on far too much, hustling far too aggressively and everything eventually caught up with me.I knew this was a widespread issue and I wanted to provide an alternative to the hustle hard mentality that most of us naturally learn towards. I wanted to truly empower others to put themselves first, prioritise their wellbeing and create time and space for the things were truly important to them.2 - There was nothing like it out thereI’ve always been a fan of putting pen to paper, but I couldn’t find a planner that would help me stay organised and grounded with self-care as the primary focus. We saw this as an opportunity to not only create the perfect planner for me, but also spread the message of self-care. It was Tom’s idea to launch this business.Before burning out, I had ZERO desire to start a business. Having seen the ugly side of owning your own business (my parents were small business owners), I always craved the security of a full time job.Tom: It was actually Alex’s idea. She just wasn’t serious about it and said it as a joke that she should create the perfect planner since she couldn’t find one that suited her. At the time, I was listening to loads of business podcasts and became very interested in business and marketing, but didn’t know what I wanted to do with what I had learned. After a week or so, that idea popped into my head again and that’s when I said “we should do this.”3 - We were at a career crossroadsWe were both at a crossroads in our careers. Neither of our jobs were fulfilling us. Tom was working as an Apple technician and I was an Account Manager at a digital marketing agency. We felt that at the age of 26, with no mortgage or major commitments, we had nothing much to lose. If it didn’t pan out, it would still be worth the adventure and lessons learned.Fortunately, I had a background in marketing and Tom is a fast learner, so we didn’t have to outsource a large chunk of our startup fund. We didn’t do much testing to validate the idea. The most we did was send out a survey to our network to gauge what they liked and didn’t like about their current planners, what features they wanted and what type of goals they typically pursued.Take us through the process of designing, prototyping, and manufacturing your first product.Finding a printerThe first step was finding a local printer in Australia. We reached out to 36 printers and received 6 replies. Finding a printer was A LOT harder than we anticipated because we didn’t know anything about book specs and therefore could only request a quote based on layman knowledge of notebooks. Our first quote request was something like this:1000 x A5 high end hardcover PU leather diaries ft. gold foil on the front, back and spine.I also included several photos to illustrate my vision and used the feedback from printers to refine my brief.We eventually found a local printer who could meet our requirements. Even though our print job was outsourced to Taiwan (they were quite transparent about this), choosing a local printer meant we didn’t have to deal with freight, customs and language barriers in an industry we knew nothing about.Getting schooled on book makingWe didn’t have a clue how books were made, let alone how to choose the right type of binding, grade of paper, ribbons and hardcover material. Our printer was a big help in this department because he was able to educate us on the process and guide us every step of the way.There were definitely more pros than cons to having a middle man in the first year. The only con was that our printing-related requests were filtered, which meant that our requests were passed on to the manufacturer at the discretion of our printer.In our first year, we made our decisions based on high-res photos, which is such a contrast to the way we do things now. Because we’re dealing directly with our manufacturer now, we can request physical samples of PU leather and make the decision based on touch and feel.imageBrainstorming diary featuresThe search for a printer took weeks. During that time, we brainstormed exactly what we wanted to include in our planner. We looked at what was available online and in stores. We looked at apps we used. We asked ourselves what we wanted in a diary. We surveyed our network and asked them what they wanted.At this stage, we knew we wanted to create more than a diary—something truly unique* that was centred around health and wellness. We came up with dozens of ideas. It was just a matter of figuring out the *best, most practical features to include in what we called “Curation” because it was exactly that—a curation of lifestyle planning tools.imageimageTurning our vision into a digital realityWe put together a brief detailing what we envisioned for each feature and we worked closely with our designer to bring our first edition of Curation to life.We were really blessed in the design department because when we pitched our idea to our friend (who happens to be a designer) she was 100% on board and excited to bring our vision to life (at mates rates). Even though we were living miles apart and the time difference posed a few challenges (she was in France and we were in Australia), the design process was an absolute dream, thanks to the wonders of Skype, Facebook Messenger, Google Docs and Email.imageSorting out packaging problemsOur diaries were shipped to customers in 100% recyclable cardboard book wraps (unbranded). We still use the same packaging today. In our first year, we didn’t want to use unnecessary plastic, so we didn’t bother investing in individual opp/poly bags UNTIL we learned that a few of our diaries arrived with water damage. Eager to avoid another soggy diary experience, we quickly changed our minds about the need for plastic protective material.Describe the process of launching the business.From inception to launchWe came up with the idea of Curation in late February 2017 which meant we had a deadline to meet if we wanted to launch a 2018 edition. We had about 8 months to design, produce and market the first edition before launching in October. This timeline worked in our favour because it didn’t leave room for procrastination or perfectionism.We had to “move fast and break things” and foster an attitude of “done is better than perfect.”We later learned that most diary companies launch around late August, early September, so we were actually late to the party. That was the first lesson we learned.imageCreating our websiteWe picked a theme that was roughly $100 and did everything ourselves, right down to the photos. It makes us cringe a little when we look back at them now because the photos were so amateur, but you’ve got to start somewhere!imageKeeping the costs downOur goal was to be profitable in the first year, so we were very careful about where we allocated our funds.In our first year, we relied heavily on micro influencers and SEO to put us on the map. We sent over a dozen copies to lifestyle bloggers and health coaches in the wellness space with a few thousand followers behind them. The idea was for them to share it on their story if they liked our product and/or write a review on their blog. It was a cost effective way for us to reach a larger audience, increase visibility and build brand credibility, since we were the new kids on the block.This worked quite well. The best, most profitable “shares” were from fatmumslim.com.au, afternoonpickmeup.com.au and rachaelkable.com because they included us in their “best diaries for 2018” roundup.imageWe used my background and knowledge in SEO to our advantage. Tom’s interest in marketing and his desire to self-educate also kept our marketing costs down. In total, we invested 15k of our life savings into launching this business. We didn’t want to take out any loans or get ourselves into debt because we were simply testing an idea.Launching to the publicWe didn’t build hype or a brand following before we launched, so it wasn’t some big, epic launch. We posted on our personal Facebook accounts and that got the ball rolling. Our friends and family were instrumental in spreading the word about our brand. Our first few customers were friends/family but by the 5th or 6th day, we were selling to random people, and that was when it finally felt real.imageLessons from our experienceBuild a following before you launch.Leverage your connections and don’t be afraid to ask for help. “Mates rates” can really help keep costs down in the first year. You’ll be surprised by how generous people are with their time and advice when you’re a startup.Don’t be afraid to share your product with family and friends. They will be your biggest supporters in the beginning.Have a deadline and stick to it. Having a deadline worked in our favour because it didn’t leave room for procrastination or perfectionism.Join entrepreneurial/ecommerce Facebook groups. They can be a great resource and place to ask questions.Be prepared to pivot. In our first year, SEO worked a charm. In our second year, it didn’t work as well as we’d hoped, so we had to adapt our marketing strategy and learn how to market our products on Instagram and Facebook.Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?We’ve tried so many different types of marketing in a bid to attract and retain customers. These are our biggest takeaways.Instagram and Facebook ads for the winThis worked a treat for attracting new customers and increasing traffic/sales. We used professional imagery and targeted people just like Alex. We know that the majority of our customers don’t convert immediately because it’s something they’ll research for weeks.The goal of the ad is to generate awareness and either get them to sign up to our VIP list (email list) or follow us on Instagram where we can nurture them until they are ready to purchase. Once they land on our website, we can also retarget them at a later date.We also use Instagram for social proof. When customers share our products on their story or message us telling us how much they love what we’ve created, we will always repost it.imageShow that you’re humanDon’t just be a brand. Show that you’re human so that customers have someone they can connect with. We do this via Instagram stories. Customers love seeing what goes on behind the scenes. They want to put a face and a voice to the brand.imageClarify and communicate your brand message clearlyDonald Miller’s Storybrand Framework has transformed the way we communicate our brand message and market our products. I highly recommend listening to his audiobook “Building a StoryBrand” and implementing his principles. The audiobook will teach you how to write incredible website/marketing copy and nurture your email subscribers. Our YoY conversion rate increased from 3% to 3.8% thanks to these principles.Incentivise email sign upsWe decided to give away a free copy of our planner every month to someone on our email list. Once we implemented an email opt-in with “Sign up for your chance to win a FREE copy of Curation 2019”, we went from having 600 email subscribers to nearly 5000 in just a few months, and they were quality subscribers. Our email conversion rate was 7.64% last year.Collaborate with like-minded brandsWe did giveaways with brands in the health and wellness space to reach new customers. One particular giveaway with Pana Chocolate (raw organic chocolate) helped us build our Instagram following by the thousands, just in time for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. We didn’t strategically plan for this to happen, but it certainly taught us that timing the giveaway is important.Produce valuable contentThis has been a huge part of our retention strategy. We seek out people in the health and wellness space to guest post on our blog. We produce FREE eBooks in the off-season. We just spent 3 months writing our last eBook which is all about building new habits that stick.We’re not just in the business of selling planners—we’re constantly searching for new ways to empower our audience and add value.How are you doing today and what does the future look like?imageWe saw phenomenal revenue growth in our second year of business—47k to over 160k in revenue through our Shopify store.We’ve been travelling around Asia working on the 2020 diary collection which will be released in September. We’re so grateful we get to do this.In terms of the future, we’re still trying to figure out what direction we want to take the business in. There are pros and cons to having a seasonal business. The pro being that we’ve been able to travel and work remotely in the off-season. The con being that we’re only generating revenue in September-February.Tom and I have finally settled into our roles. Being life and business partners is tricky but having roles in the business has helped us navigate this territory. Tom is in charge of business/marketing strategy and the techy side of things. I’m in charge of supplier and customer relationships, product development and content creation.We do have plans to expand our range next year. There are a few ideas in the pipeline, but we want to keep it a surprise for our audience.Ultimately, our goal is to continue creating lifestyle tools that focus on self-care and personal growth, whether that’s in the form of eBooks or adding to our physical collection.We are also really passionate about mental health which is why we donate a percentage of our profits to Beyond Blue and R U OK? every year. This will always be a core part of our business.Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?The biggest challenge was finding a supplier who understood our needs and could deliver on their promises. We actually flew to China to meet with our supplier this year. Sitting down face to face, explaining our concerns and visiting the factory where our diaries are currently being produced has filled us with a lot more confidence.Before manufacturing your product, figure out what a defective product looks like. For us, it’s scratches, missing pages, unseared ribbons, etc. Once you know what a defect looks like, communicate this to your supplier and agree on an accepted defect rate. Every factory will have a defect rate, so don’t be fooled by a company telling you that they don’t have one.It’s impossible to produce 100% perfect products on a mass scale. It’s good practice to establish a written agreement of the product specs and criteria. We use Alibaba to process all transactions because it protects us in the off chance the supplier doesn’t meet the agreed criteria.What platform/tools do you use for your business?We try to keep it as simple as possible. It’s easy to get bogged down with the latest apps, but one thing we’ve noticed is keeping it simple helps with our website speed and overall sanity. Sumo and Kaviyo are definitely our favourites, and when I say we, I mean Tom because he’s the tech nerd in this duo!Shopify: affordable and super easy to use.Sumo: collecting emails is a breeze with Sumo. The pop-ups are incredibly easy to design and customer support is amazing.Klaviyo: we just recently switched from MailChimp to Klaviyo and it has allowed us to step up our email marketing game. The built-in flows and email automation possibilities are truly next level.What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?The Slight Edge by Jeff OlsonThis taught us the power of small habits, when compounded over time. It also helped us build the discipline we needed to create a sustainable business.Tim Ferriss podcastTom has listened to almost every episode. Tim manages to extract amazing insights from his guests which can be distilled down into principles anyone can use.Noah Kagan podcast/YouTube channelThese are all bite sized, completely actionable tips and advice for small businesses.Advice for other entrepreneurs who want to get started or are just starting out?Make sure your preparation doesn’t turn into procrastination.Done is better than perfect. Our first year was a test. Did we produce the perfect product? Not at all. BUT we used our customer feedback and everything we had learned in our first year to create something we were genuinely proud of in the second year.Don’t be afraid to “move fast and break things.”Learn from your mistakes. When you view your mistakes as an opportunity to learn and improve, you can recover faster. Don’t dwell on it. Own it and use it to your advantage.Ask for help!!People are more than happy to help you. You’ve just got to ask.Have a strong WHY.Make sure you’re genuinely passionate about your product/service. People don’t buy what you do. They buy why you do it.Don’t forget to look after yourself.Starting a business is exciting but it’s also overwhelming and exhausting. It’s also easy to neglect your mind and body in favour of getting that important thing done. Wow – you’ve done it, you’ve created your Vision Board (hopefully). You sit back and look at it and feel a sense of ‘hope’, maybe a feeling of ‘excitement’. You’ve set the wheels of the Law of Attraction in motion by putting your ‘dreams’ out there. You’ve created a new vibration which although can’t be seen, is generating energy in the same way as a radio wave can’t be seen but allows sound to be transferred around the World and out into the Universe….

For the first few days and weeks, you take the necessary ‘follow up’ action and as suggested, you look at your Vision Board morning and night… but then nothing seems to be happening. You’ve not ‘manifested’ your dream job or met your dream partner… in fact, some things in your life seem to be getting worse….
You feel uncomfortable about something and you doubt anything good will happen.. ‘it never does’… The Doubts increase and ‘bah humbug’…
You put your Vision Board away and forget to look at it for a while…. “Why does it work for others but never me…” 
Like many people, I’ve created Vision Boards in the past that included only the things I thought were ‘realistic and achievable’, rather than what was truly in my heart. This isn’t the way the Law of Attraction works..
Your Vision Board is about putting out to the Universe the things your heart desires and not just what’s expected or achievable…
Your ‘inner dreams’ are where the positive vibration truly lies… and that is what’s needed to start the magic..

Listen to your heart
When I created my first Vision Board that actually contained my ‘inner dreams’, those things I didn’t think were ‘possible’ but were what I felt I would love to see in my life, many of those ‘impossible dreams’ actually started to appear… First the little things and then the bigger ones…
Sometimes, we are sent ‘little signs’ that open our mind to greater possibilities. It’s important that we acknowledge those signs. Here’s a personal example:
I put on my board that I’d love a diamond ring.. my engagement ring had broken and although it had been repaired several times, the stone kept falling out.. At the time, we were ‘strapped for cash’.. I felt ‘guilty’ putting a picture on my board as there were lots of ‘practical’ things that we probably needed more than a diamond ring. However, when I looked at pictures in the magazine, the picture of a diamond ring made me feel ‘good’ and so I added it on there anyway… I wasn’t really ‘open’ to this being possible when I glued the picture onto my Vision Board, it was more of ‘a nice to have… one day in the distant future..’
A few weeks later, I was out shopping with my mum and as we walked through one of the stores, completely out of the blue, she stopped in the middle of the shop, took off a diamond engagement ring that had originally belonged to her aunt, handed it to me and said “I want you to have this Wendy”…
I was flabbergasted and initially, I refused the ring.. “No mum, don’t be silly, I can’t take that”… but she was insistent, to such a degree that it was impossible to refuse as it was upsetting her and causing other shoppers to ‘look’… She truly wanted me to have that ring and she was determined I should have it. Why she thought of stopping ‘mid shop’, I’ll never know…
Strange though.. completely out of the blue and certainly not as I’d have ever expected..
Wow… but it didn’t end there… That was just a ‘sign’ to open my mind to new possibilities. It showed me that my dream of a Diamond Ring wasn’t impossible…
I was delighted with the ring and acknowledged that my ‘dream’ had come true. I was grateful and very appreciative!
However, my ‘dream ring’ was still on my Vision Board as I hadn’t updated it and I left the picture of my ‘dream ring’ on there as a reminder that one of my ‘dreams’ had come true.. The picture on my ‘vision board’ had a much larger diamond and it wasn’t something I’d shared with any of my family as I’d thought they would think it was a bit ‘greedy and stupid’… but it had been my original ‘dream’ nevertheless… and I was still incredibly delighted with my new ring from my mum…
A couple of months later, imagine my amazement, when completely out of the blue, my husband surprised me with a gift of a beautiful new diamond eternity ring for my 50th Birthday! Yep – you got it – my ‘Dream Ring’ … just like the picture on my Vision Board that nobody but me had seen..
The small and beautiful diamond ring my mum had gifted me was ‘the sign’ that opened my mind to a new possibility that I was able to ‘manifest’ a diamond ring… and indeed I did manifest the ring of my ‘dreams’…
Action: Check your Vision Board and ensure that it contains what’s in your ‘heart’ and not what you think you can achieve. This is your Dream Board and should include your inner dreams.. those things that maybe you feel embarrassed to tell others you want, that you don’t dare speak of, but somewhere inside you feel excited about when you think of them…
If you’ve ‘censored’ your Board so that it only contains things that you feel are ‘realistic’, it’s likely that your ‘Limiting Beliefs’ are at work.. those beliefs that you have ‘learned’ and may be completely inaccurate… It therefore makes sense that your ‘limiting beliefs’ should be ignored for the purpose of your Vision Board… For more information about ‘beliefs’ check out my previous post…  Are ‘BELIEFS’ Holding You Back?
Could it be that you have simply not noticed some of the little signals that the Law of Attraction was starting to work?
It’s important to acknowledge and appreciate the small signs as this opens up your mind to new possibilities… 
By removing the ‘negative associations and limiting beliefs’ you are creating space for new things to appear in your life….  
In my experience, once we have created our Vision Board, the Law Of Attraction shows us little ‘signs’ which we need to watch out for and ‘Believe’ that the right things are happening even if they are discomforting…
These are often ‘Calls To Action’.. Sometimes things ‘just happen’ and other times, we receive signs that are showing us we need to ‘TAKE SOME ACTION’…
For example, if you’ve put on your Vision Board that you want to attract ‘more money’ into your life, you may see a discarded ‘penny’ on the floor but you continue past without stopping to pick it up.. it’s only ‘a penny’ after all.. not worth bending down for…
WRONG!… You Need To Act upon what you have seen….
Stop and pick that penny up and recognise that money has come to you in an ‘unexpected way’. Yes – it may only be a single penny, but this is a sign and you need to acknowledge it and appreciate the signal you have received. This shows the Universe that you are ready to receive ‘more’… Penny’s make Pounds after all!
(Now don’t get me wrong here – if you find a larger sum of money, you shouldn’t just ‘pocket it’ without seriously trying to find the rightful owner.. the Law Of Attraction isn’t about gaining at the expense of others..)
Maybe you put on your Vision Board that you want to write a book and become a published author or you want to develop your ‘Public Speaking’ skills. I put both of these on my Vision Board and I also added that I wanted to become a ‘blogger’ and yet when I added them, I had no idea how these would be possible.
I’d never openly admitted that I’d love to be a brilliant ‘public speaker’ and when I’d mentioned to people that I wanted to start a blog, I got some very strange looks..
I was working long hours with little time to spare… I didn’t have space in my life to write or to set up a blog… or to train as a Public Speaker…
Yet here I am now just 13 months after adding those things to my Vision Board over Xmas 2015…
I’ve established my blog and have over 1100 followers and have some fabulous ‘blogging friends’ who have encouraged me and truly supported my journey.. I’ve reached Page 1 on Google Search for Manchester Lifestyle Blogger – which was one of my first ‘blogging goals’ that I set myself…
I’ve written a significant portion of my book because I’ve had time to write and the feedback from my blog posts has encouraged me to continue..
I’m booked to attend Andy Harrington’s Public Speakers University in just a couple of weeks time – this will improve my chances of becoming an ‘excellent public speaker’..
I’ve left my old job which has created the space needed to do the things I love but wasn’t something I ever expected to do..

How Did This Happen? Early in 2016, I started to notice signs of very unexpected significant change.. 
A series of difficult events occurred, which simply couldn’t be ignored, including receiving a diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. As you can imagine, this was a MASSIVE SIGN.. A MAJOR CALL TO ACTION… I’d ignored the little signs previously.. my weight creeping on, working long hours, not eating healthily… and yet on my Vision Board, I’d included ‘becoming healthy’…
I was given my ‘kick up the backside’ from the Universe, through a series of very ‘discomforting events’ which couldn’t be ignored and pushed me to take the necessary action required to achieve my Vision Board Dreams… To lose weight and become healthy!
I’d previously ‘ignored the little ‘action signals’ but eventually the signals got bigger and to a size that simply couldn’t be ignored any longer. You can read more about the circumstances in a previous post.. How to be Positive about a ‘Positive Diabetes Diagnosis!
Looking back over the last 12 months, I can now see a chain of events that didn’t seem connected at the time but actually were. Several events that steered me in a new direction in my life – They were my ‘calls to action’, that I simply couldn’t ignore…
And yet – I was keeping my foot in the door.. I somehow couldn’t remove myself completely.. Fear still held me back from truly following my heart…
Maybe you’re in a job you don’t enjoy or a relationship that’s making you unhappy and yet you’re ‘stuck’ with your ‘limiting beliefs’ feeling that you simply ‘can’t change’.. “I’m the main breadwinner.. I can’t give up my job” “If I leave this relationship, I’ll be on my own” “I’d love to travel the World but it would be irresponsible to give up my career”……
When I updated my Vision Board over the Xmas Break in December 2015, I had no idea that this would set off a very discomforting chain of events..
Then for me.. there it was.. that  life changing signal… 
In a moment of despair, I turned on the laptop to lose myself in some mindless catching up on Facebook, to avoid thinking about ‘my life’…
The first post to pop up on my screen that day, was a Facebook ad by Andy Harrington.. I normally disregard the Facebook ad’s but this one felt different.. I noticed it… it drew me in and within a week, I’d attended my first ‘free’ workshop session in Manchester. Within a month, I’d attended the Free Power To Achieve 3 day event, which for me removed some of my Limiting Beliefs.. and gave me ‘the power’ to close the door I’d been keeping ajar… I came home and ‘banged it shut’!
What would have happened if I’d ignored that ‘Call To Action’.. If I hadn’t clicked on the ‘link’ and then attended the ‘free workshop’?
Would I have overcome my ‘limiting beliefs’ or would I still be stuck with my ‘foot in the door’?
It seemed like a ‘little sign’ at first and then that ‘little sign’ got ‘bigger’..
Facebook Ad… (I notice it and then took action by clicking on something that normally I ignore)
Attending a 1 Day Free Course ( I took action.. I made the effort to attend a workshop.. which led me to being inspired to book the Power To Achieve Event in London)
Attending a 3 Day Free Seminar (I took Action to break down some barriers and beliefs that had been holding me back from ‘freedom’ and the life of my dreams…..)
How To Find The Power To Achieve?
I had no idea when I clicked on that Facebook Ad, that it would lead me to attend such an intensive 3 day seminar in London where I would break through my barriers.. I thought it was connected to my goal to become a ‘public speaker’ but it led me to a much bigger life changing experience which was completely unexpected…
Often when we create a Vision Board, those ‘little signs’ appear when ‘the time is right’..
Action: BE OBSERVANT and NOTICE THE SIGNALS…
Your interest may be sparked by something you see, read or hear or maybe by a person you meet and yet sometimes, not realising it’s a ‘sign’, you don’t ‘act’ upon what you’ve seen or heard and you disregard it as unimportant…
If you disregard the little signals you are being sent, you will often be sent bigger and more discomforting signals until eventually a sign appears that you simply can’t ignore!
When I created my first Vision Board, I expected things to happen in a lovely way, that the Universe would gently work magic…. Boy oh boy – was I wrong….
The Universe gave me some almighty ‘kicks’…  I now recognise that those kicks were what was needed to shove me out of my ‘comfort zone’ and put me on a new path or in some cases, to create a ‘space’ in my life that could then be filled with the things I wanted in my life.
You may have read my DIY Kitchen Disaster post recently.. this was ‘a sign’.. I’d put on my Vision Board a picture of a lovely new kitchen whilst updating my Vision Board for 2017… Inside though, somehow I didn’t ‘believe’ that I deserved a ‘new’ kitchen and so I embarked on a ‘mini makeover’, which as many of you will have read, resulted in the kitchen having to be completely ripped out after a ‘paint disaster’ and discovery of a slow water leak which had rotted some units.
Yep – you got it… The Universe was acting upon my Vision Board ‘dream kitchen’.. it wasn’t ‘allowing me to limit myself’ to a mini makeover… And although it’s been ‘painful’, going through an unexpected period without running water downstairs and cooking on a one burner camping stove for weeks, I’m now seeing my ‘dream kitchen’ come to fruition. My Vision is becoming My Reality… Space was created to enable this to happen with the DIY Disaster, but certainly not in a way I would have imagined..
Action: Notice The Signs Then TAKE ACTION… The ‘signs’ will appear and they are your ‘call to action’… ignore them and they will get bigger!
Notice them and Act Upon them and they will lead you to the life of your dreams…. Often in unexpected and uncomfortable ways but with Magical Results in the end.. 
I have reached the point now where I recognise that when I feel completely ‘discomforted’ by events in my life. that these are often the signs that things will be changing for the better in the long run..
I have ‘faith’ that things will work as they are meant to, even if there is some pain along the way, but I also know that I have to Notice and then Act Upon Those Little Signs To Allow My Dreams To Become My Reality!

19 Will Power Strategies & Tips to recharge self discipline
Glad you have decided to uplevel your life by verging on the path of self-discipline.
By disciplining yourself, you are changing your whole lifestyle. I believe life’s too short to waste time.
Luckily there are a few small steps that you can start taking today.

 1- Becoming unstuck
To get self-disciplined you have to forbid the entry of “stuckness” and it all starts with your mind.
Do you know why people remain unmotivated?
Because they allow themselves to remain in the loop of stuckness.
If they would not feel like doing something then instead of getting out of that feeling, they will knit their existence into it.
The mindset of “life is not honest” is normal.
And sometimes, you are forced to think that way.
But remember that this thinking should not take over your goals and your life.
Don’t allow it to make you remain stuck. Remember that you are not your problems but bigger than them.
 2- Imagining
 The best way of boosting your willpower is through the power of visualization.
This is an extremely useful tool that only successful people rightfully deploy.
I have been talking a lot about visualization for mindfully using the law of attraction.
If you need to manifest something in your life then begin by imagining.
Do not confuse this imagining by daydreaming. You are not a dreamer rather than a creator of your reality.
One of many quickest methods to enhance willpower is by making use of your creativeness.
Place yourself somewhere.
You need to do that.
Imagine yourself becoming the person whom you have always thought of becoming.
For developing stronger self-discipline in life, an ideal image of a perfect future should be carved into your subconscious mind.
Get out of the victim state through powerful imagination and create your dream reality.
Many people have trouble imagining their future selves. In that case, these things will surely help:
Try vision board (simply tear some pictures from the magazine which reminds you of your goal)
Meditate and sink into the perfect world
Play your favorite song into which could drive you into the imaginative world
3- Developing realistic targets
 To maintain your will power, you need to develop realistic goals.
I have been teaching to think big and at the same time of starting with small targets.
Eisha are you kidding me?
This may sound confusing but it is extremely powerful once you understand it. In the law of attraction, I teach to let your imagination run wild.
Go beyond the impossible but then “trust”. Know that you will have it one day or the other.
But at the same time, you need to recognize the small opportunities that the universe will be throwing your way. You need to then set the targets.
By setting small targets for so-called “impossible” goals, you will be training your mind.
Your mind will get that if you can achieve that smaller one, then larger ones are not as hard as you have thought.
Think big and start small.
A simple and effective trick is to set a measurable target.
Measurable targets are always time-framed.

4- Concentrating on the pink elephant alternatives
 Find alternatives to pink elephants. Which element keeps you off your goal?
What is keeping you away from self-discipline? What weakens your will power?
The distractions.
You might have heard of the Pink elephant theory based on Fyodor Dostoevsky.
If I were to tell you that do not imagine an elephant in your head but do not visualize that color to be pink.
But you know what you will do?
Yes, you will exactly imagine a pink elephant.
Individuals are bound to think of the things which they are informed not to think of.
If you are trying to develop a will power to study then what are your distractions which you are not supposed to think of?
Netflix?
But you will exactly keep your mind preoccupied with it.
Similar is the case if you are trying to lose pounds.
You are not supposed to think of sodas and junkies but you will exactly keep dreaming about it.
So what is the solution?
Find alternatives. You need to replace what not to think of with fruitful substitutes.
If you are studying, force yourself to think of reviewing old assignments [yes, you will exactly think about it.]
For weight loss, think that you would think about the target areas which need weight reduction.
In short : distract the distractions
5- Constructing good habits
 To own a self-disciplined life, you need to construct great habits.
Your life will be in no time full of motivation if you will construct good habits.
Your habits are the assistant.
Maintaining willpower is not the story of passing the sea without a storm, rather it is about overcoming all such challenges.
So, to get past the storm you need to develop powerful habits.
What are some effective habits that you can adopt from today for a self-disciplined life?
Always remaining ahead of time for controlling stress
Becoming a morning lark to maximize your time
Become indifferent of what others will think
Become mindful of your eagerness
Train yourself
Eat a healthy, wholesome diet
6- Training yourself
 To strengthen your willpower and remain self-disciplined you need to train yourself.
By training yourself through different exercises you will be releasing comfortable hormones that would suppress the stress hormones.
If you are thinking of different ways of training yourself the go on for :
Jogging
Crunches
Biking
Strolling
Swimming
And this list will never end. The key is to look for a way of physically strengthening yourself.
By getting physically strong you will become mentally tough and self-disciplined.
7- Getting to know yourself 
You will never be able to develop a stronger will power without knowing your true self.
Bear in mind that sometimes we are trying to find the answers to the problems, whose answers exist within us.
So verge on a journey of self-discovery.
You need to rediscover your values so that they could become a pivotal point of guiding your will power.
The best approach which I take into practice is journaling.
I have been doing journaling for manifestation and for rediscovering.
Pitiful is the life that fails to uncover who you are.

Talk to yourself and get self-disciplined.
There is nothing to get overwhelmed by. You can simply take 5 to 10 minutes out each day for scripting.
8- Handling stress
 You will find your stress level increasing throughout the day.
Stress will be that invisible enemy that will threaten your will power at every stage. What will be the results?
An undisciplined life. You will get sunk into an emotional misery, sleep depletion, and poor diet. So what to do?
Find what works as your stress relievers.
Here are a few ideas:
Practice journaling techniques
Go for mindful meditation
Listen to charging-up songs
Grab a punching bag!
9- Getting extra sleep
 Many individuals deprive themselves of the necessity of sleep that is needed for the growing willpower and motivation.
Let’s get a little scientific here.
By getting sleep disadvantaged, you are impairing the prefrontal cortex.
What role does the prefrontal cortex play?
Well, this is in charge of growing your retention in discovering or studying apart from boosting the willpower.
Some tips:
Sleep no less than 6.5 hours, maximum of 8
Create a zen-like atmosphere – dim light to no light, no sound
Drink a cup of cherry juice
Take a heat to bathe to wake up with great vitality next morning
10- Determining the obstacles
 Prepare for the challenges and obstacles in advance.
You need to get hold of your life by foreseeing the obstacles.
Challenges are bound to strike so the wise option is to be well-prepared. If you will be prepared then the barriers will not harm you.
If you are wondering that in which domains you need to remain prepared then:
Your financial plan must be backed by one mean or the other
Your time. You need to be prepared that at any moment you can experience a lack of time thus how you manage your willpower going.
11- Reviewing your routine
 Self-discipline calls for the updated routine and that cannot be achieved by first getting the review.
You need to review and find what is going wrong.
Your life will remain stagnant if you will be caught up in the monotony of the old routine. Thus, to make your will power going you need to have a change.
Start by the modification process and that too little by little as you cannot change the routine completely in a day.
If you used to wake up at 8 then try 7 then 6 then 5 (yes, at 5. I wake up at five and it is a blessing)
Include journaling in the routine.

12- Being mindful of the self-talk
 What you say to yourself directly affects the way you live. How so?
Well, if you are used to saying that
“I can’t do that . . . ” then there is a huge probability that you would not be able to do that.
Your self-talk is directly sinking into your subconscious mind.
Once your thought sinks into your subconscious mind they turn into belief.
And belief guides your life . . . it guides the action you take, it guides to miracles you attract.
So be mindful.
You can not have the strong will power of self-discipline if you will keep chattering about the impossibilities.
Do not limit yourself in any way thus replace your every negative suggestion with a positive one.
Even if you do not believe Or partially believe in the positive suggestion.
Even if you think that you would not be able to do . . . just repeat the affirmation that you can.
This repetition will change your life.
You will ultimately believe.
13- Making use of affirmations
 Talking about affirmations!
Most interesting topic as they have the capability of changing your whole lifestyle. Life is a bumpy road.
It will throw you down and force you to live. In such cases, you need to own power tools like affirmations.
This tool will make sure that you remain undamaged when life threatens to damage you.
Simply repeat the affirmations in the morning, throughout the day, and especially at night.
The key is to repeat with conviction.
Listed below are some examples. 1. This day is great, It will go great and I know it 2. No matter how time tests me, I will never quit. 3. I’m at peace with myself. 4. Life is simply beautiful. 5. I own the capability of achieving my goals

 Monitor your choices and see what is influencing your decision.
Which pivotal thoughts drive your actions, decisions, or choices.
This is extremely important in getting self-disciplined.
You need to review a thought before following it blindly else it will make you suck at self-management.
Don’t let your thoughts manage you.
If you have willed to make juice for yourself and ended up making an egg then see what influenced your will power.
15- Knowing your passion
 A self-disciplined life and a strong will power need persistence.
And one can never achieve persistence by an unknown driving passion.
You need to ask yourself your “why” else out of everything you do, several will remain incomplete.
You will find advanced willpower once you start taking pleasure in what you do!
16- Weeding out negativeness
 Your peace of mind can be destroyed as long as you have the poisonous energy surrounding you.
Thus, spend a good amount of time in identifying which act, and who is your energy drainer.
Don’t let your will power weaken. Remember every person to whom you tell your problems is not your friend.
Thus, effectively get them out of your life. Remember you are not obliged and you never were.
How to filter people?
Simply filter the people if they own the following attributes:
One will give negative feedback
One will make you feel down
Joke around about something related to you, without realizing the pain it causes
One who can never please or help you in any way when approached.

To get going, you need a reward. So simply reward yourself and never expect someone else to do that for you.
You deserve your present . . .
With every small accomplished target, you can reward yourself . . .
it can be as simple as dining at your favorite place! Little things matter!

Sometimes simply learn to sit back and chill.
You do not have to put a strain on yourself.
Willpower is not about showing the world how much work you do. . . instead, it’s about managing everything in a balanced way.
It is about working, yet chilling and monitoring!
It is about living productively while not compromising on all the fun which life has to offer.
