soo... i saw @ramoneida's recent post and my nosey lil ass went back to find the scene and its pretty interesting to me. its so clear in this scene that feyre's asking lucien to come live in velaris, she's (can I even go so far as to say) insisting that he live here.
so now the argument that lucien was following orders and staying the continent even though he "truly really wants to be with his mate" is not valid anymore. its simply not true.
the next part - he's not just begrudgingly staying in the human lands. he wants to stay there. he clearly likes staying there. he's defending vassa and jurian and saying that the manor is "ours". he's outright telling us (or Sarah telling us through lucien) that he belongs there.
now this part is just pure speculation/theory on my part but one could even say that lucien here is defending vase/jurian against the high lady the same way azriel defended elain to the high lord. (this just popped in my head and doesn't really matter that much but its cute to me lol)
now I ask all you guys: why do y'all think Sarah wrote lucien wanting to stay in the human lands, wanting to say with the boe if she wanted elucien to be endgame? why would she do this when it would've taken absolutely no effort to have lucien take up Feyre on her offer and stay to get to know his mate? why take such a convoluted route to make fated mates endgame?

Post Tadpole'd Durge seems to brighten up so much after meeting this stranger (IE, remeeting their little assassin) and gets the gang to make them join the party by implying they help Durge's memory. Surely it's the least that can do to aid the Grove's savior! It's okay if there's not enough tents, they can share :)
The amnesia appeared real. They almost seemed sheepish. I don't mean to intrude, they'd said politely. Do I know you?
Know you? Bile rises in your throat as memories flash through your mind. They know you better than anyone. The taste of your flesh, your blood, the way your skin splits under their blade. Every scar, every mark, every pathetic, traumatic noise that could be drawn from your suffering.
You hadn't even noticed that your eyes had glazed over until they managed to catch your attention again. Concern is a strange look on them. You smile when they ask if you're alright. It's strained, forced. Too wide. You apologize. Once, yes. You knew them once. Acquaintances, nothing more. Their pale companion scrutinizes you behind them. You pray your nerves won't betray you.
The lie works. Their sudden look of excitement sends a bolt of fear through your spine. You are a godssend, they gush. Finally, someone who can shed some light on their situation. You'll be at the party, yes? You can talk more at camp.
With the Grove saved, you find yourself in an unfavorable position. You refused to go back to the city with the tieflings. Regardless, now that they knew where you were you couldn't stay here with the druids. You can't risk them looking for you, and if you don't show to the party odds are someone will see which direction you went and rat you out.
So you show. You stay to yourself, making polite conversation until the time is right. The festivities make a decent enough cover, but you feel eyes on you wherever you go. Multiple times you have to remind yourself to breathe and calm your nerves. When everyone is distracted, you'll make your move. You'll run into the woods, and run until they'll never be able to find you again.
That was the plan, anyway. You creep through the darkness, all too aware of an echo to your footsteps that should not be there. You anticipate the ambush and swing around, the point of your dagger pressed to the lean neck of their pale companion. Red eyes narrow dangerously, his own weapon pointed at your stomach. It's rude to leave without so much as a goodbye, he purrs. You don't humor the man with a response, instead giving him a warning. Leave now, and he can walk back into his camp with all his entrails still on the inside.
He moves closer, and you take a step back. There's a gleam of malice in his eye as he sneers. All bark and no bite. What do they see in you? You falter, gritting your teeth as your hands start to shake. He wastes no time and pounces on the opportunity. A cold hand finds your wrist, pulling your blade away from his vitals. The elf leans in close, eyes boring into yours as he makes a proposition.
You can leave. Run into the woods, try your luck. Hells, you could even kill him while you're at it. No witnesses. They will find you though. He doubts they'd be very pleased to find one of their allies dead.
On the other hand, you could come back to camp and he'd be more than happy to pretend this little incident never happened. Water under the bridge. He doesn't understand how yet, but clearly they think you may be useful. You may be able to shed some light on this situation, and he'll be damned if he lets such a pretty little opportunity go to waste. To him, the choice is obvious.
On the walk back to the party, you feel sick. Their face lights up when they lock eyes with you. The elf squeezes your wrist, thin fingers digging into your skin. The message is clear. Be good, play along. He stalks back to his tent and you glower at his back as your master leads you somewhere to talk. They've thought about this all day. They just can't wait to catch up.

9. The Warrior of Light has been through quite a lot, but what is a moment, big or small, that bolstered and renewed their spirit? Was it a cup of hot cocoa or a lovingly crafted sandwich? Did someone give them a few words or a gesture at just the right time that meant the world to them? (Of course, this can be a canon event or headcanon!) (x)
Corisande struggled after Haurchefant's death and though she tried to hide it from her companions, Estinien easily saw through the facade. He mostly did left her alone in that regard, but would sometimes sit quietly with her so she was not completely alone in her grief. And even though they hardly spoke, Corisande knew he understood her pain and appreciated his presence at her side. It was enough to keep her going in one of the hardest times of her life, and was the beginning of the deep friendship and respect they have for each other in the present.

Thoughts on your tags: Rich IS like an attack dog!! he's fiercely devoted and would bite for anyone at the slightest hint of danger, but no one wants to be the hand that holds the leash. He's always the first to see himself as only a weapon and a guard dog
By the way!!! Black Order (2018) subverts this really well, he gets mindcontrolled and acts as an unwilling antagonist until the end. They call him puppy multiple times lmao
(referencing this post)
yeah <3 you're so right
i have been thinking a lot about how rich's self-dehumanization (?)/his "i'm only a weapon" kind of attitude changed post-annihilation*. like. in new warriors 43 (ish) when he intentionally kills himself to revive worldmind there's a page or two where he actually doesn't want to go through with sacrificing himself. like, he argues with adora about it pretty passionately (as per usual), and is only convinced to do what she tells him to when his friends say he has to (which is a very richie thing to do lol)
and it's just very interesting to compare this to his very blatant self-sacrificial attitude post-annihilation.
I definitely think that, even though he's always had self-sacrificing tendencies, the reason it becomes so debilitating as he gets older has got to have something to do with like. a certain lack of control over what happens to his body.
something something the nature of getting zapped with the nova force at 16 will obviously Do that to you but also like. the period during the later half of the new warriors through nova vol. 2 & 3 is a lot of xandar (adora in particular) making decisions over what happens to his body. where he gets to be how much power he's allowed to have what he's allowed to think & what he's allowed to wear. y'know? doesn't stop him from giving them the middle finger most of the time but... all of that happening when you're 19-21 will give you sooo many complexes
anyway yeah. i don't know if this means anything but i'm spinning him around in my brain microwave. i think that post appealed to me bc i think about cosmo telling rich to go for annihilus's throat an Unheathly amount. something something someone telling worldmind to keep a muzzle on their dog
ANYWHOO i think richie being an attack dog is very interesting. imo it's also why starnovamora is so interesting like. gamora doesn't need an attack dog but she thinks having one would be very hot even if she doesn't want to deal with feeding him and stuff. pete would like rich to chill out for even a moment. rich will do neither of things and if you bring any of this up to him he's going to the other side of the galaxy with his tail between his legs
thank you for the ask :) feel free to send rich asks at any time as clearly i have too many thoughts about him
*or post nova (1994) #18, depending on if you want to consider that suicide attempt his turning point?
