#and tamarind soda if they have it
The only downside to my parents having friends close to my age is that I dont talk much so they tend to talk to me like im a lot younger than I actually am
Like bestie I am 5 years younger than you at MOST
I get that you're cishet and married and have a kid so our lives are VASTLY different here but im TWENTY FOUR
Im quiet and awkward and autistic and won't look you in the eye and you dont see me a whole lot cuz im very noise sensitive and you people are loud
But you dont need to talk to me differently than everyone else here thanks
It just feels condescending

hiya akira!
i unironically LOVE trashy reality tv, especially from like "the golden age" of reality tv. I rewatch old seasons of Americas Next Top Model and Flavor of Love like all the time.
a few years ago I decided I needed a "quest" so I decided every time I went somewhere and I saw a flavor of Jarritos (a Mexican soda that is somewhat popular here) I hadn't tried yet, I would buy one and like. rank it. So far my two favorites are the lime and tamarind ones.
I used to work as a food runner for a local restaurant, and specifically as the runner for to-go and curbside orders, so I am now VERY good at recognizing cars (and also fancy cars) both irl and in shows, and I also have *strong* opinions about fancy cars, despite not knowing ANYTHING about cars like at all (or how to drive)

Take a Taste: with Mang Inasal's Chicken Inasal - Pecho (Chicken Breast) [Recorded: Mar 26th, 2024]
Hello! It’s time for another “Take a Taste”! The series is about delicious food with my two paper dolls.
Aww yeah, another round of going "Mang Inasal" restaurant? Yes, please! 😋 This Time, I'm invited with my parents at the different Mang Inasal branch, on Mar 26th, 2024. 🏢🍴 However, once again, I broke the rules for not eating meat this year's "Holy Week", so please forgive me. 😔 Nevertheless, here's my review of Mang Inasal's famous dish, the "Chicken Inasal", particularly the "Breast" part (in Tagalog we called it "Pecho" [pi-cho]) I ordered 🍴🍗. And let's not forget, the "Unlimited Rice" (or "Unli Rice" for short)! ➕🍚🤤 So will I satisfied with my order as my previous one? 🤔 Let's find out, right now! 😀
If you haven’t seen my previous episode, then please [CLICK ME!].
IMPORTANT NOTE: No #OnThisDay throwback post for this date.
AND ANOTHER NOTE: These photos and videos are my first time using my brand new smartphone from Tecno! 🆕📲😁 Want it more? Please → [CLICK ME!].
So, without further ado, let’s get started:
1st & 2nd Image(s) 📷📲: ↑
• Here's what "Chicken Inasal" looks like in all of its perfect serving 🇵🇭🍗; let alone the slightly mess on my "Unli Rice" green plate. Plus, let's not forget the free warm 'Tamarind Soup' 🇵🇭 🫘 🥣, as well as the condiments that we mentioned in my previous topic, in Jan 2024. *Sniff* (2x) Can you smell the burning charcoal goodness, you two? I bet you are! 🍴🍗🍚🤤 Unfortunately, I didn't get the "Unlimited Java Rice" (over the owing to a different menu. That's all right, I should make another plan, someday. 🤷‍♀️
BTW: We decided to drink water over soda for budget reason. 🥛💧
Tumblr media
3rd Image 📷📲: ↑
• Anyway, normally I used cutlery as my main purpose for three meal servings (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner), both at home and at food-related establishments. Just like you're doing it daily. 🍴 However, for this day, it's time to get my hands on the traditional "Filipino Way"! 😁 That's right! We Filipino blood (like myself) use our human hand/hands as our traditional cutlery, whether there's a meal on the plate or a meal on the large banana leaf. The latter was another traditional "Filipino Way" called the "Boodle Fight". 🇵🇭🤲🍚🍗🐟😋 "It's a meal that dispenses with cutlery and dishes. Diners instead practice kamayan and eat straight off the table unlike typical instances of eating with the hands of individual plates", according to my rapid research. 🔍🌐
My Recorded Video 🎦🎞️: ↑
• Thankfully, I have my recorded video shot at 60fps for the FIRST TIME! 🎦⏺️📱😃 Also, my first muted video sound because it is super noisy inside, even in ✝️ "Holy Week" ⛪. Okay, it's actually two videos I recorded, so I combined them into one (using Filmora 9). 🙂
• All video aside, here's me using my single right hand as my cutlery after I washed my hands (before recording). You can see, I'm picking a small amount of grilled chicken with my bare fingers before I dip in some chicken oil I put some small amount of rice, and shove it through my mouth. It is super DELICIOUS! 🍗🍚🤤 I also doing it again, this time I'm dipping a fuse of chicken oil and some soy sauce! Yum-yum! 😋 Yeah, it could be messy and I should request plastic gloves, but I simply can't help myself without wearing plastic gloves. As for the "Unli Rice", I requested two rounds of steamy rice from the food server before I was done eating and sipping a little tamarind soup, and then I coughed. 😫 I'll be fine, though. 😅
Tumblr media
4th Image & Overall 📷📲: ↑
• Overall? Just like before, it was satisfied our taste buds from eating a Chicken Inasal Pecho with Unlimited Rice! Which, by the way, I decided to take home my leftover grilled chicken for any day meal. 🍗😊 And, what can I say? Chicken Inasal did everything right for the past decades, and they never stopped serving the Philippine people (like us)! 🇵🇭🍗😋
• As for the asking price? It cost ₱199 ($3.49) 💵 w/ "Unlimited Rice" included. However, if you want a single shot of steamy rice and not a "Unlimited Rice", then it cost ₱164 ($2.87) 💵 for Solo choice. To me "Rice is Life", so I'm definitely gonna order a meal with "Unlimited Rice". 🍗🍚➕😋
Well, that's all for now. 😊

WIP Wednesday Christmas Surprise
Sooooo, along with finishing Echoes I’ve been working on a holiday surprise with the fabulous @mortimerlatrice! We are planning to put it out around Christmas time for you all to enjoy.
I’m venturing into new territory with this one and exploring a world of Big/Tay. It’s been decided, by both of us, that Tay deserves all the love and Big is just so full of it, we can stick them together.
Mort has agreed to illustrate some parts of the story which I am AMPED about. Here is your sneak peak for WIP Wednesday from Chapter 2!
“First off, I have two twists on classics for you. Khun Kinn, yours is a Fireplace Old Fashioned with bourbon, smoked duck fat, chestnut, and cherry bitters.” Kinn smirks at Oliver knowing his preferred liquor. “For Khun Tay, I have the Blonde Ambition,” Tay laughs. His hair is pretty close to blonde, with the platinum color he’s sporting currently. Oliver gives him a cheeky smile, “It’s made with gin, elderflower, grapefruit, and a hint of cardamom and bergamot. Enjoy.”
They both sip their drinks, humming in enjoyment as the flavor bursts across their taste buds. Swapping is almost automatic at this point. Kinn’s has a lovely smokey flavor that finishes with distinct umami and cherry tones.
They chat for a little while. Catching up on what they’ve missed in each other’s lives in the past week and a half.
“I have something to tell you,” Tay figures the cocktail can count as liquid courage.
“Oh,” Kinn says inquiringly.
“I’ve decided to break up with Time.” Kinn chokes on his fancy drink, and Tay laughs while giving him firm pats on the back.
“What?” Kinn croaks.
“I’m breaking up with Time,” he repeats calmly.
Kinn blinks at him for a few seconds, wrapping his head around what he’s just said. “Are you sure?”
“You don’t think I should?”
“No!” he lurches forward as though to physically stop Tay from taking that option. “No, you should do what’s best for you.”
“Good, ‘cause this is what’s best for me,” Tay says finishing the last of his drink. It went down very quickly.
“When did you decide this?” Kinn asks.
Tay chuckles a bit. “This morning,” he says ruefully.
Kinn rapidly downs the last of his drink as well, as though fortifying himself for the rest of this conversation. It’s great timing, or great bar tending, as Oliver is on his way to them with their next drinks.
“Up next, a taste of Thailand. Khun Tay, you have the Tamarind Twist. It’s got two different spiced rums, lime, coconut milk with Tamarind syrup, with a float of soda water. Khun Kinn, you’re on an adventure with the Change of Air. It has a Thai parsley-infused gin paired with mezcal, bitters, egg white, lemon, and elderflower. Cheers!”
The drinks are beautiful. His is served in a highball glass so that the darkness of the rum and Tamarind blends into the milky white of the coconut. The soda water on top adds a light look to the top of the glass. It’s garnished with a sprig of mint. Kinn’s on the other hand, is a golden color, milky due to the egg white, and with a stunning foamy head paired with a curl of lemon rind on the rim.
Again they try their drinks. Murmurs of satisfaction follow before Tay all but snatches Kinn’s drink from his hands. His is just as good as Tay’s. They make eye contact and know that they are hiring Oliver for the job, no matter how the last round goes.
“What made you finally decide?” Kinn is being oh, so gentle with him.
Tay plays with the little cocktail napkin from his last drink. He folds and folds and folds it, until he can’t anymore and then undoes the whole thing so that he can do it again the opposite way. Kinn lets him think for a bit, to mull over his words.
“Partially, it was Khun,” he starts.
“You talked to Khun?”
“Yeah, the last time we had a meeting in your sun room. He found me in the gardens and decided to give me the harsh talk.”
Kinn grumbles something under his breath that sounds like ‘he shouldn’t have done that,’ but Tay can’t be sure.
“He reminded me of something that I had forgotten.” Kinn raises one of those bushy brows at him. “That I used to talk about finding a partner that supported and loved me.”
The silence between them echoes with memories of the past. Time that they’ve spent together, becoming themselves and growing right next to each other.
“I never did thank you for bullying me into friendship,” Kinn teases.
“Well,” Tay says imperiously, “I could hardly leave you there to fend for yourself. You looked like a kicked puppy and cried for your mother for half an hour.”
“Lies, slander, I have no memory of this,” Kinn keeps up the banter.
Tay fights back his laughter, “Convenient Khun Kinn, how your memory fails about embarrassing things. I suppose you also don’t recall the time in high school when I had to come to get you after you decided to go down on—” Kinn’s hand covers his mouth.
“We do not speak of this, and you know it, you little shit,” Tay smiles with his eyes until Kinn takes his hand away.
“I guess your memory isn’t that bad,” he says smugly.
Kinn rolls his eyes and takes a large swig of his drink. Then humming in pleasure, goes back for another. Porsche has been training him with cocktails, so the man who used to only drink whiskey straight has gotten more adventurous.
“You know that we will be there for you. Porsche should have said something.”
“Yes, he made it very clear that if I were to choose my own happiness, the two of you would be there for me to lean on.” Tay twists in his chair to look at Kinn.
Kinn continues to stare at the glass in his hand before turning to look at Tay. “You are my oldest and dearest friend; there was never any doubt I would stand with you.”

boring list of stuff i did while waiting for my bf to finish with class. the move may be done but i yearn for when the days of unpacking are behind us.
continued fridge cleanout by combining a tamarind syrup and seltzer abandoned by ex-rms (meh, tasted too much like cream soda for my taste)
learned how to tie a knot in picture frame wire
hung up two framed pieces (one thrifted embroidery scene, one gifted needlepoint piece) and my plastic skull mask piece
cleared floor space in our bedroom, making our glider usable again (consolidated laundry, relocated bulky sweaters, put away laundry, etc)
threw out more expired meds ugh
realized we have no good place to store hats
a couple more runs of peglin, the pachinko battle mobile game my partner got me obsessed with (we paid money for this app!)
and with the remaining time, i can probably have a light dinner, sweep a bit, and take out some trash amd recycling

🍔VADA PAAV RECIPE🍔
Tumblr media
I am glad that I could manage to bring this recipe to you guys!
Many of you must be aware of “vada pav” and many must have heard about it for the first time.
Ok! So let me introduce it to you guys.
Here comes my all-time favourite vada pav, which is a spicy, tangy, and breathtaking dish. It comes from the suburbs of Mumbai streets, aka
“BATATA WADA PAO”, which is a VEGAN fast food dish native to the state of Maharashtra, India.
It’s basically buns stuffed with deep-fried potato dumplings, salted and slitted green chillies🌶 and served with several dips like spicy garlic dip, coriander dip, or tamarind dip. In some parts, they serve it with a coconut dip.
I personally have different combinations.
And that’s what I am here with.
It perfectly turned out as an evening snack for me. And that’s the one evening my taste buds were triggered and, on top of that, my idea got wings due to rain!!!
Oooh!!!! What a perfect scenario for my dish to justify my mood at its best!
For this, you do need to have extra in your kitchen. You all must have seen lots of videos of it on youtube and must have tried it, and I won’t deny that for many, it must have turned out to be a better version than the original.
But my version was a bit typical and turned out to be finger-licking.
So let’s take a look at the basic things we need to keep ready:
🌟 POTATO DUMPLINGS
➡ 3–4 medium-sized boiled potatoes
➡ 3 cups of chickpea floor
➡ 1 tbsp red chilli powder
➡ ½ tbsp salt
➡ 1 teaspoon baking soda
Here, instead of making a spicy garlic dip, I preferred making dry garlic powder.
🌟 Garlic powder
🔥 4–5 cloves of garlic
🔥 crispy chickpea boondi
🔥 powder of chilli peppers
🔥 salt as per taste
And I made two dips, which can be taken up as per preferences.
🌟 Tamarind dip
½ cup seedless tamarind — tightly packed (imli)
75 cups of water or add as required.
12 teaspoon cumin seeds
½ teaspoon ground ginger powder (saunth powder)
1pinch asafoetida (hing)
14 teaspoon red chilli powder or cayenne pepper
½ cup chopped jaggery or as required — adjust as per your taste
1teaspoon oil — any neutral tasting oil
rock salt (edible and food grade) (sendha namak) or black salt or regular salt as required.
🌿 Coriander dip
🕃 A handful of coriander leaves
🕃 4–5 green chillies
🕃 4–5 garlic cloves
🕃 salt as per taste
Though it doesn’t come in the category of a very healthy diet as it contains deep-fried potato dumplings.
BUT BUT BUTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait, why make your heart short?
Who said we cannot have vada pav while counting our calories.???????
If it cannot be a part of your healthy diet food family, then can’t it be part of your CHEAT MEALS🍴 ???? 😉 😝
So here is the chart displaying and breaking down the calories you will gain from one serving of vada pav.
I personally believe, and I am sure you guys will not deny it, that keeping yourself healthy and fit is a must, as the body is a temple which needs to be worshiped, as it is said in India. But where is it written that killing your taste buds can lead you to admire other foods?
See, we get one life, and in that, we dream of achieving many things, but what’s the fun of achieving that when you don’t celebrate it.
Enjoy every meal, but yes, you should know how to balance food with health and lifestyle.

But where is it written that killing your taste
https://sweeetchillies.com/vada-pav-recipe/
You’ll find step-by-step photos and the full recipe below, but here’s why this recipe works so well:
Chickpea flour batter
Whisk the batter by adding its ingredients properly by whisker and beat the batter until it turns out to be extremely fluffy and creamy. When you see the batter changed its colour and has risen a bit to extremely fluffy and creamy, then keep it aside for at least 30min(must!!).
2) Getting ready potato dumplings shaped oval or circle
Aim for two to three medium size boiled potatoes, mashed with the masher properly. When these are prepared before hand , then the ingredients inside starts releasing its aroma inside making it taste every bit of spice added in it and delicious 😋
3) Ready your spicy garlic powder
Preheat the oil properly. When these are prepared before hand , then the ingredients inside starts releasing its aroma inside making it taste every bit of spice added in it and delicious 😋
4) Getting ready green garlic dip with lots of chillies
Aim for giving authentic typical old time tastes , I used a mortar-pestle. Though it’s an era of using gadgets and modern electrical appliances but THIS???? This turned out to be beyond my imagination. (Although using this took out lots of sweat . 😰 , but worth it 😍)😋
5) Sweet pepper fritters
Yes!!!! You read right! This was the twist which I brought to my recipe and trust me guys it turned my dish to another level. You will find people using green sweet peppers in almost the same way but I gave it the new form and it was beyond the level I expected.
Please let me know how your vada paav turns out in the comments. I love hearing from you.
INSTRUCTIONS
Take chickpea flour in a large bowl and add few carom seeds just for taste , add salt as per taste and baking powder to it. Gradually add the water to the mixture and give a firm whisk is the start and beat the batter until soft, creamy and foamy. Make sure the consistency of batter is neither too thick nor too liquid. Once done keep it on rest for minimum 30min.
In a pan add cooking oil, bring it to heat and add mustard seeds , cumin seeds, chopped garlic, grated ginger, chopped green chillies , add curry leaves 🍃 and sauté in oil for one or two minutes, then add turmeric powder and sauté that too, and add your mashed potatoes to it and give a good mix. Mix them well so that all the ingredients mix evenly and add salt as per taste and half lemon juice to it and keep it aside to cool it down
Take the sweet green chillies and slit them partially from the center and apply salt and mango powder inside properly. And dip in the chickpea batter we prepared and deep fry it.
In the same oil, take small green chillies 🌶 and slit them too and fry them for 1 min in oil and keep it on tissue paper to soak extra oil. Then later toss it into some salt
Dip your fingers into chickpea batter and drop the drops of batter in oil making it form small boondies of batter and fry till it turns crispy. At last, fry one full bowl and let it cool down. Meanwhile, take some garlic cloves and pierce it with a toothpick so that it doesn’t pop out from oil while frying and keep that aside too. Then take some boondies we prepared leaving some behind in the mixer and add fried garlic cloves, salt and red chilli powder to it and do the coarse grinding(This prepares my GARLIC POWDER DIP).
Finally, make small patties in the shape of my potato mixture we made and dip it in chickpea batter and fry them until brown or changes colour.
IT’S TIME TO SERVE!!!!!
Take the paav and slit it from between and apply green dip on one side and garlic powder on the other side of paav and on the same side put potato dumpling and salted green chillies.
Serve it with sweet chilli fritters along with green chilli dip and tamarind dip.

Acids Bases and Salts Class 10-NCERT NOTES
Numerous acids and bases are naturally present in our surroundings. Citric acid is abundant in fruits such as oranges and lemons, tartaric acid is found in tamarind, malic acid is present in apples, and lactic acid is a component of milk and dairy products. Additionally, hydrochloric acid naturally occurs in gastric juices. Similarly, various bases are also naturally occurring, including lime water. In our daily lives, we frequently use these acids for various purposes. For instance, acetic acid, commonly known as vinegar, is a staple in the kitchen. Boric acid is utilized in laundry, while baking soda finds its way into cooking, and washing soda is employed for cleaning. The diverse applications of these acids and bases showcase their significance in our everyday activities.

Diced coriander leaves: 2 teaspoons
Curry leaves: 2 chopped springs

Warm water
Add salt to taste.
Deep-frying oil
Procedure For Chaula Bara Recipe:
In boiling water, wash and soak the rice and urad dal for six to seven hours, or overnight.
Add a small amount of water and grind to a thick, smooth batter. Stir it for a while until the batter becomes light.
Next, thoroughly mix in the chopped onion, cumin, carom, baking soda, salt, chopped green chili, ginger, coriander, and curry leaves.
In the meantime, warm up enough oil in a heavy-based pan for deep-frying. When the oil is hot, delicately drop a spoonful of batter into it with care. Proceed in the same manner with the leftover batter.
Continue to fry until the color turns golden. Cook the opposite side after flipping. After all of the Baras have turned a light golden color, remove them to absorbent paper to drain any remaining oil.

Procedure Tentuli Jhol:
For fifteen minutes, soak the tamarind pulp in water. After mashing the pulp with water, take out any remaining pulp and seeds.
Pour the water into a bowl and dilute it with a small amount of ordinary water as needed.
Add the chopped garlic, ginger, and green chili to the tamarind water along with the sugar, salt, and red chili powder.
Then, add two teaspoons of refined oil, curry leaves, and panchphoran to a hot pan. Finally, add this tadka to the mixture of tamarind and water. Top with chopped coriander leaves.
Enjoy your evening with chaula bara served in a green leafy dish or dana with tomato chutney and tentel jhol.

Observation:
Rice that has been parboiled is often used to make challa bara. You can also prepare with any type of rice if you don’t have par-boiled rice.
In tentuli jhol, tadka is not required. It tastes fine without tadka as well.
It is possible to fry the chaula bara again to give them extra crunch and color.

Do you have any experience around culture shock? For me when I first moved to America I was shocked at America's soda culture. There's just soo many flavors and people seemed to drink more soda than water. Growing up I always thought soda or sugar is something you grow out of and that it's just for kids, because in my culture you almost never see adults drinking soda or eating sugary food. So this was super eye opening for me!
Oh definitely. Culture shock for sure. The food is fake in America, I currently live in Tijuana, Mx and the food tastes different and I drink fresh waters tamarind, hibiscus water, lime water all those fruit waters with natural non gmo sugar. I couldn’t believe it! I love it here! What about you? How’s the food where you live?
