A revision of Claire’s “pushing” and who really benefits from it

A list of red flags I have been thinking about.

I was reading this post and reflecting on why it felt, like @brokenwinebox mentioned, that Carmy was always in the passenger seat in the relationship with Claire (physically and metaphorically); their post is amazing, by the way, talking about this concept of "pushing" and how it should be a mutual thing.

I want to go back to the party and the context of Carmy and Claire's past. All of it is enhanced by that interview with Molly we have been discussing.

My biggest question here is:

Why? Why the hell Claire "could tell" that Carmy wanted a relationship with her? They hadn't spoken in more than a decade, for real, wtf kind of signal did she see that he wanted to be with her? Does she think he has been in love with her all this time? Did she get that idea when she supposedly met Mickey? Because if she pursues Carmy, assuming he has feelings for her but only assuming this because of what other people told her, that is kinda fucked up. It all goes back to Fak being the one that tells her that Carmy loved her after all that shit he said while being stuck in the fridge. I swear to God that the more Molly says things favoring ClairexCarmy, the more red flags I see. Did Claire pursue Carmy knowing it would be a sure thing. "Oh yeah I remember you, you had the most obvious crush on me"

There is also the context of both of them growing up in the same spaces, Carmy very shy and Claire a very popular girl. Did she hear how lonely that was, which made her assume he was avoiding her because of a lack of social experience?

In their first phone call, she never let him explain if he was bussy, even after all that talk of her being supportive of the restaurant she said "don't make this weird," Claire was completely dismissing that Carmy was indeed doing something important to him; she never offered to work around both of their schedules, almost like she knew that if she "pushed" enough, she would get what she wanted.

And even that, their first date or hangout is not to a coffee place, maybe a restaurant with Claire actually interested in Carmy's profession and passion, or any other place they could get to actually know each other after, I repeat, a decade of not seeing each other. She brought him to a party.

She knows the Berzattos and how gatering will go on their avail, she knows Michael will set things on fire, she knows he comes from a family of addicts, and she knows carmy had difficulties on social environments (we can assume by the pictures they had around, taht Carmy attended to her birthday party and other stuff surely).

So why the fuck, on their first "date," not only does she insist on going to a party, but she tells him that he "owns her" to go there? Where there is alcohol and other people that he may felt rejected for as a kid? She knows this is a scenario that may cause him anxiety or discomfort, and she insists he must go. Maybe I am projecting a little bit here, since I am autistic, and at some point in all my friendships or relationships, I have to have a conversation about places that, because of my disability, I don't enjoy.

(little note aside: the excuse "my friend needs me" to convince him to go was utterly pathetic. Almost as much as "you own me.")

But what does this mean coming from Claire in the "pushing" thing? Does she feel she can push him to become (kinda by force) the person that will hang out in the same places as she does, assuming that is still what he wants?

She also knows that he probably felt cast aside from social events because of his shyness, and she invites him to provide all the things that may cause her to look like his only anchor in this stressful scenario.

She brought him the soft drink, tried to tell other people what a cool job he has, and told him what to do to comfort and upset a friend of hers. It felt like she was walking him on a tutorial on "how to be normal," and I didn't like that at all. Again, I may be projecting here, but the dynamic was kind of hollow regardless.

It is not like it is bad for Carmen to socialize and whatever. But she removed his agency completely; it feels like manipulation on many levels because she has perceived a lot of his struggle in this area; she also ignored his first reaction to going to the party and flipped her way. Carmy ended up trapped with a lot of immature young adults with whom he definitely has nothing in common. There was no space for actual empathy or connection to him to "come out of his shell." His conversations with Sydney are so natural because of this; there is connection and mutual respect, and he was very out of his shell with her.

The Pushing between Carmy and Syd this next season will likely be in a professional context but also rooted in a (future) agreement on mutual collaboration. But my feelings about this are not only for sydcarmy.

The "pushing" in ClairexCarmy was always in the context of Claire getting what she wanted and Carmy having to force himself to make it happen. There was no discussion, no middle ground, not even a recognition of why certain things have been difficult for you in the past; it is not an actual intention of helping to heal, but an expectation of the other to go your way "because they want you/love you. Claire is sure that only because of her will he want to change, and she will gain his heart by providing the scenario for all these things Carmy desperately wanted as a kid. I am sorry, Storer, if this is the love story you want to sell us, a salvation of all lonely/hurt people, I am very sorry, I hate it with all my heart.

what's your opinion on kelly's recent post and max's comment on it? f1 twitter is calling out max's comment as definitely pr work and I wanna know what tumblr thinks of it.

pheew well. for context:

personally, i find the entire kelly "situation" really interesting to watch as someone who works with pr. if you followed kelly before, you'd notice she was very much in an "idgaf" state for a looong time -- whenever there were any rumours, she mostly didn't address them and minded her own business.

this, however, changed in the past few months. there were attempts to push p (her child) more into spotlight that i personally did not agree with (if you do more research into how a child can be negatively impacted by getting posted to millions of strangers online... it's not lovely. i know @tsarinablogs made a few posts about how a child can be exploited like that) also, she recently made a post of p in swimsuit so like, not the best stuff. i PERSONALLY do not agree with it but if she wants to post her child so publicly, it's her decision. but i think the child could face bad consequences bc of bad parental decisions on her end.

kelly also recently started a broadcast channel, a few hate accs of her were taken down on tiktok etc. etc. which is odd because she never really addressed any hate online? so idk. not sure what the motive behind this sudden change is. (because there were always rumours surrounding her, not new). for example, last year around austria gp, they were breakup rumours and she addressed nothing.

now this post.. well she finally addressed it and i dont think it was a good idea. sometimes the pr rule is just... not address certain rumours because if you do address them, you bring more attention to it.

and max's comment.. well, first of all, it is public knowledge that "he" commented on her posts during fp2 or when he was on the podium so there's clearly a 3rd party access to the acc (soc med admin or some specualte even kelly) to me, it doesn't sound exactly like what he would write himself. the style of writing is not really how "he" writes and people found out he was playing call of duty when the post went up so yeah, i can't judge. i don't know much. but in my opinion it wasn't a great take on how to address the rumours (how she met max when he was a minor, the rumour of her homewrecking someone else's marriage etc. etc. there's a lot of stuff)

also she's apparently blocking people who are questioning that max wrote it? idk, i feel like ignoring any of this would turn out better in the long run but again, i don't agree with most of her social strategy so let's see how it turns out!

i'm not that invested in it but from professional point of view, i enjoy watching it unpack and checking out people's reactions because its a fun pr study

I don't like JGY but I think I would like him if his defenders weren't so annoying, weird, and aggressive. Your fav did some really horrible shit, get over it. The weird theories about how he's 'actually innocent' are what made me start to really hate him. I like all the other villains in MDZS but none of the other fans try to deny what their fav did.

Yes, JGY is undeniably a tragic figure who experienced terrible things that were both unfair and terrible, but I have a very XXC reaction to his tragic backstory "oh your pinky got run over? cool motive, still murder".

I have empathy for the real discrimination that JGY faced, I don't have empathy for him murdering sex workers. And with every "5 reasons that JGY is the REAL victim" post that I run into, my empathy dwindles. I do actually believe that to fight against extreme discrimination, extreme actions are required. But while I think murdering his father was absolutely justified, I don't think murdering the innocent sex workers was justified. Or NMJ for that matter. Or betraying LXC. Or murdering QS and JRS. Or the genocide he helped with. (also if I see one more post saying "oh i know he confessed to doing it but he was obviously lying" I might rip my hair out. No. It is not 'obvious' that he was lying. In the full context of the story, his characterization, the position he was in, and the other things he's said about them including the scene where he says that JRS death was inevitable, it's pretty obvious that he did indeed do it. I'm really tired of the copium. If you like JGY that's fine but the weird nonsensical theories that 'prove' he's innocent are ridiculous.)

All that to say I don't think that JGY is the 'worst' or the most 'evil villain'. He's a complex character with a genuinely sympathetic backstory and a tragically difficult position. Every character in MDZS has done some horrible stuff for morally nebulous reasons. His character is fascinating, well-written, and multi-faceted. He does some very good things for bad reasons, some very bad things for good reasons, good things for good reasons, and bad things for bad reasons. He's got depth to him. I don't think he sucks or he should be bashed or anything. I'm just tired of the "JGY did nothing wrong" squad. He did a lot of stuff wrong, guys.

i have... ✨Danyal Al Ghul Headcanons✨ but specifically for my yaelokre danyal oneshot

There's also the tumblr post here but I recommend the link in the title because its the ao3 version, and that one is edited and has some stuff in it that's not in the tumblr post, and will be the version I'm using.

So for summary: this Danyal is also from a Demon Siblings Au where Danny is five years older than Damian. However, things turned out a bit differently, and Danny and Damian had a fantastic relationship with one another. Danny loved music and regularly came up with songs to sing to Damian with. Specifically the folk band Yaelokre's EP "Hayfields" (seriously go fucking listen to it its sooo good. Harpy Hare is the second song but its my favorite. Special shoutout to @gascansposts for introducing the band to me)

He falls off a train when he's twelve and Damian is seven while the two of them and Talia are on mission. He ends up with magically induced amnesia and wakes up in Arkansas while the Fentons are on their yearly Divorce-iversary visit to Aunt Alica, and since he can only remember his name, he ends up being taken into their care.

Yaelokre Danny has the same facial scar as Things in Threes Danyal, since he was initially another version of him where things turned out better. I'm debating on whether or not I should take it away however, and give him a different scar (maybe from when he fell off the train?), just because the scar is a pretty key identifier for Ti3 Danyal.

Danny frequently visits Aunt Alicia in Arkansas! Well, only after he gets settled in and stuff. He doesn't really like the city that much and prefers the countryside where Alicia lives. I know she lives in a cabin but I'm changing it to a farm, so she puts Danny to work and gets him to help her.

I don't want to confine his hobbies to only being star stuff, because people tend to have more than one hobby and I feel like it reduces him to one-dimensionality, so he likes to garden, and learns guitar. His room becomes filled with plants, and he turns their roof into a rooftop greenhouse right below to OPS Center.

He has a complex relationship with the weapons from his past, but he's not... like... appalled by it? When he finds his weapons in the Fenton attic all he thinks is that they're his weapons, and he starts carrying a knife on him afterwards. Essentially he becomes fascinated with weaponry because its one of the few physical ties he has to his past, and while he's not training like he is in the League, he allows his strong muscle memory to guide him through his katas.

Danny likes climbing things. This causes Problems For Everyone Else.

Danny was not the "kinder Al Ghul" in the League. His kindness extended to his brother and family, and that's it. To everyone else he had high expectations out of them, and the pride you'd expect from the grandson of Ra's Al Ghul and trained by its top members. While he wasn't like, unnecessarily cruel or anything, he wasn't merciful either.

This transfers post-train fall as him coming off as no-nonsense and unforgiving. He's not fond of the idea of giving people second chances, and is skeptical of the idea. He's disgusted by incompetency and views it as an unforgivable offense, especially if he thinks that the person should know better, although he's not sure why. Some egocentrism for the soul.

He doesn't like being touched by anyone who isn't family, and gets irritated when anyone grabs him or holds onto him for extended amounts of time. Dash has gotten hit so many times. With Jack Fenton's tendency for abrupt physical affection, it doesn't make it any better. I'd argue it'd make it worse because Danny doesn't want to be touched more often than not.

Danyal had a red scarf in the League that he wore on his last mission, it came off before he fell off and caught itself on the roof. Damian still has it and took it with him to Wayne Manor. He's got it locked in his room and takes it out when he's alone and missing Danny the most. One time he forgot to put it away before leaving his room, and Dick was visiting the manor for something and found it. Damian found him holding it and freaked out.

Dick could only say "I've never seen you wear this, Damian, this is really pretty--" before Damian shoved him to the floor and stole it out of his hands, before screaming at him; "Don't touch this! You don't ever touch this! This is mine! You hear me!?"

It caused such a commotion that the rest of the family present came to see what the fuss was about, and Damian kicked them all out of his room. Dick is the one brother Damian's the closest with, so the fact he reacted so strongly shocked them all.

This is likely what leads to the "Danyal" conversation.

But also i just really deeply despise the idea that Jazz “fixes” danny's league issues just by existing and being the therapist #because it waters her down into a one-dimensional character who only exists in the context of providing emotional support and life advice t #danny. also therapy only works on someone that's actively trying to change. otherwise its just psychoanalyzing and people tend to hate #being psychoanalyzed without consent. which as a result may have them refuse help. anyways point is: i believe that growth is slow and #complex and danny would hide a lot of the stuff he discovers about himself because if there's one thing he still retains from being an #assassin. it's how to hide. he likes jazz but there are some things you just hide from people.#damian also told dick to “keep his filthy hands off his things”. which was also a shock because it sounded something he'd say more to tim #damian was distraught the entire time.#okay thats all i have for now.

I think the 'the jedi use child soldiers' thing is stupid for a lot of reasons, but among those is that this is a complete misunderstanding of how children's media works. Kids want to see themselves doing amazing things and giving that an in depth analysis that boils down to 'all these adults are evil' is poor, bad faith, media criticism.

That being said, if you compare Star Wars to just about any other YA work, the jedi are miles better as far as child care goes. Canonly every single one of these 'kids in danger' has a dedicated adult who is ideally supposed to be with them to teach and protect them. Very uncommon for the genre.

So if people are mad at the jedi for this, I can't fathom what their reaction to other YA literature is. And if they hate YA literature, idk, maybe they shouldn't be reading YA. Just a thought.

#thinking of the links awakening sequel to alttp post and how games contrast/mirror each other #i cant say totk was super close to it. well maybe it was based on the first trailer but not anymore !#there were moments to be sure (sky island music + the great sky island) but the bulk of it is. Not #it feels less of a sequel to botw and more like a spinoff game. the world is hollow when you see the cracks and the cracks are Everywhere #npcs are wrong the structure is more linear (the great sky island for ex) the replacement of the sheikah with the zonai but it not working #due to the fact that the sheikah are still referenced and its the Same Place where literally all of the events of botw and prior happened #like. it Could In Theory Work but its trying to erase the sheikahs presence entirely which. no!! thats not how that works??#instead of mirroring or parallel and highlighting them Both it tries to scrub one out over the other #the emphasis on a Greater Past- botw focusing on 100 years prior which he and zelda and the champions and. The World have a connection to #vs totk doing more than 10000 years prior which would Seem better at first glance but it informs nothing about hyrule and nothing meaningfu #l was lost. its just a set piece to show rauru and sonias conflict with ganondorf #theres no. Connections. like it doesnt matter to ganondorf hes just oOoOoo evil and it somehow doesnt affect his goals or motives #the sky islands cant imply any context because there Is no context theyre just scattered ruins with no significance #rauru laments about the constructs but Thats It. everything is just there to be cool #especially the old temple of time/the temple of time in the sky. Why does that exist at all #its like. i wish any of this stuff was important At All but you can tell its not.#sorry for the hater post i just think its neat how botw informs totk and how totk ended up Like That. omg your tags on that headcanon post resonate so much with me. i love reading fsnficiton but it is very obviously whether someone is writing about the source material or playing dolls (which is an analogy i ALSO use look at us. look at us.) and while. full respect to playing dolls that shit ruled as kids still rules now probably like have fun and be yourself godspeed but it is always weirdly dissonant for those two things to coexist without clear distinction from each other. all this to say i AGREE

There's nothing bad about taking characters and doing whatever you want with them and having fun, because you can make some really great and creative things that way. It's when people fail to be able to recognise that what they're doing is completely removed from canon that it gets frustrating, especially for anything still actively being made..

Because new canon content is 9/10 times gonna build off previous canon, and there are a lot of fandoms nowadays that exist heavily in the level 3 and beyond space of headcanons that continually act like new, official content not being fanon-compliant is disappointing or problematic, and that people who like the canon content and want to discuss it are somehow the ones that don't belong in the fandom.

Honestly at this point it's often hard to tell if people who complain endlessly about the canon of the thing they're a fan of is due to an actual inability to recognise when popular headcanons are a 3 or 4 or if there's a genuine chunk of people in fandoms who legit dislike their source material and got into the material and/or a character exclusively due to fanon creations and ideas

#batfandom is an excellent example of this #the majority of those people literally do not like canon batman or the canon robins #all of the stuff they write and post about is almost exclusively made up fanon #they dont read comics and yet they complain when they see a panel out of context and it's not fanon compliant.. lmfao.#like. do you not understand that you're discussing made up characterisations? bc why do you expect comics to cater to any of that lol #the latter is like.. the harry potter marauders fandom #they very much know their shit is all made up #but they hate the creator of their source material and said fuck it lets take like 3 pieces of canon and make everything else up and gay #as a sunny blog.. i think we mostly exist in a balanced space here #theres a few teens on twitter who genuinely dont seem to get the show and therefore cant recognise fanon stuff #like ppl going on rants about how theyre upset dennis doesnt want to be a good dad? lmfaooo #but most of the people i see and interact with get it #anyway its all very interesting to me fr #ask

I think people should be allowed to share their distaste for certain headcanons n such without people making posts about how they’re ‘gatekeeping’. for as much as I’m a ‘do what you want’ kinda dude, I do think that includes allowing people to express why they don’t enjoy something. like most people are pretty civil bout it until you antagonize them by pointing and saying they’re ‘policing’ spaces.

Actually the funniest example of Megatron apologism (neutral) I've seen is when people call it biased and rigged for Optimus to be the judge for Megatron's trial, but have nothing to say about the fact that Optimus let Megatron on the Lost Light AS CO-CAPTAIN which is ALSO incredibly rigged and biased and no one wanted it and Optimus barely had the authority to even do that.

It just seems like a case where people will always take the angle/interpretation that favors Megatron as a victim of Autobot eeeevillll, so they harp on how unfair it was for Megatron to be put on trial, but completely skirt over exactly how and why Megatron even got to serve parole/not rot in prison in the first place. I guess because it would disrupt the ever-present fan wank about how actually Megatron is being victimized for being put on trial and those Autobots are "just as bad" (lmao).

i have been lurking around online help forums answering questions for probably at least 15 years and to this day it still drives me absolutely bananas when people essentially just post "HELP! I HAVE A PROBLEM" and then refuse to provide any information or context as if you are some sort of mind-reading savant capable of inducing all the information required on the broadest problem imaginable

#motivated by someone who posted about how they cant figure out X thing #where the thing in question is that they were trying to install code they found online #but they did not say what they were trying to add or what it was or where they got #or even whether it was something that was a part of something they were writing or just a couple lines #and of course after replies from op i see oh you're installing a third-party add-on #and that add-on literally has installation instructions #so i have absolutely no clue why they are posting to a DIFFERENT website. literally asking for quote 'explain step by step'#WHEN THEY DONT SAY WHAT THEY'RE DOING #AND WHAT THEYRE DOING #ALREADY HAS STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS #the issue that im taking isnt that this person struggled to understand how to do something. thats fine. thats why im here #it just frustrates me when people dont try to articulate what the issue is #you dont need to be RIGHT but i do need to know 1) what are you trying to do 2) what have you done to achieve (i.e. post your damn code/ref #3) what is going wrong and then just an optional 4 of context #but 1 2 3 are very important otherwise it's just playing 20 questions #and this is all assuming we've gotten past the stuff like 'is the program actually set up how you claim it is set up'#because a lot of times the problem is they misunderstood a setting which is making everything else wrong #but that's the kind of thing i can infer based having accurate information

#personal #thoughts #🍬 post #vent post #this year has been one fucking thing after another and I'm burnt out and exhausted #actually it's not even one after another. they keep piling up and overlapping #like hi would you like to spend the whole year having your abandonment issues triggered and made worse constantly #would you like to go through medical trauma that leaves you with issues that cause you severe pain on a daily basis #while also making it so you literally can't go to get any of it fixed #because seeing any of the tools that would have to be used is enough of a trigger to cause issues regardless of the context you see them in #would you like to take a medication for a month that makes you constantly terrified that something's trying to kill you #and then when you stop taking it that goes away so you think it's gonna be fine but a month later you still have other side effects #and you're trying to navigate all these new symptoms and triggers while more and more stuff just piles up #so then every time it feels like you've made progress something else fucks you up and it feels like you're back to square one #and it's starting to feel like maybe you're the problem because why else would everything keep going this badly #even though so much of it is completely out of anyone's control and you're trying so hard to cope with it and get better #I'm so fucking exhausted and it feels like every attempt to fix any part of our situation goes to shit in some new unforeseen way #and every time I vent about any of it I feel like a burden for making anyone else deal with our problems even if they've said it's fine

I think there may be few things as humiliating/discouraging/uncomfortable as attempting to share something you love with someone and them being unexpectedly offended/upset by it.

it's just like... this is something I love! this is something that inspires me and reminds me why life is worth living! and I understand why it upset you, and I don't blame you for it, but now I feel bad when I was only trying to be kind and helpful! and I feel ashamed because something I love and find Good has been judged Bad by someone I hoped would enjoy it too. and I feel bad for making them feel uncomfortable. and now there's a whole mess of emotions happening and most are Not Fun ones and it just makes one not want to share things with others again in the future at all
