Please tell me all about the Kade and Nora Demestrap?? The current productions seem to be going all in on this ship and it is very valid of them!

(Also if there were any Kieran and Hank tuggoffelees moments, I need to ask you to share them due to who I am as a person)

ok so i posted the majority of my thoughts on Kade and Nora's Demestrap here, but i just HAVE to mention again how much i love the dynamic they created

like i adore the traditional fully in love happily married Demestrap that Lauren and Devon gave us, but Kade and Nora created a much more complex relationship that grew over the course of the show, from Munkustrap being a little hesitant and Demeter being curious about him, to the two of them having a respect and little flirtation with each other during the Ball, to finally having that moment during the Macavity fight and after when they see one another in a new light.

like their Demestrap makes me think that Demeter's only known by Bombalurina, Mungojerrie, and Rumpleteazer, and they're the ones who brought her into the Junkyard. Tugger's doing his best making her feel welcome (my Tugmeter BFF Agenda was FED by Hank and Nora), but Munkustrap's a little more suspicious.

Seeing her reaction to Macavity actually showing up really changed his perspective, and just... ugh, their mannerisms around each other, the way they moved and grew???? absolutely BEAUTIFUL

NOW FOR KIERAN AND HANK TUGGOFF!!!!!

THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS THAT'S THEIR BEST FRIEND

literally the ultimate hype men for each other during their songs

like there didn't feel like there was a "YES THIS IS TUGGOFFELEES" vibe to their interactions, which i honestly really liked? all their interactions could easily be viewed as either platonic or romantic

idk if this would be a lil nsfw-ish, but when Tugger and Misto do their little dance during Tugger's song, and Misto goes down to crawl between Tugger's legs, Tugger did a little hip thrust and it just made me giggle

there were a lot of cute little moments, like Tugger nudging Mistoffelees playfully during the Ball, and Mistoffelees turning around to interact with him

i got the biggest Bombatuggoffelees vibes during the Ball, especially after the Pas when everyone is cuddling together

THE CUDDLING DURING PEKES AND POLLICLES WHEN I TELL YOU I NEARLY DIED

They were sitting together on the car trunk and just in their own little world like yes give me Tuggoffelees who are completely wrapped up in each other that they forget about everything else 😭

Mistoffelees' song was SO good, Kieran has such a sweet voice, which contrasted really nicely with Hank's more rock star-style singing

them dancing together gets me every single time, but there was a moment where Tugger was up on the tire, and Misto was down on the actual stage, and Tugger was mirroring Misto's dance movements and it was perfection

ok i said this in my main commentary post, but when Old Deuteronomy is brought back???? it was so fucking cute????

Like Tugger was FULLY in awe of what happened, and he was bouncing around and just so insanely hyped, and he started off singing really loudly and excited, but he stopped and took a moment to calm himself down, but he was just so happy and it was such a good lil moment

and then before they started doing the last bit of dancing, Tugger and Misto had a moment where they gave each other fist bumps and were just smiling and UGH i love them

and then the moment during the finale when they're going off stage together and Tugger's like "WAIT I HAVE TO FINISH THIS" and runs back onto stage

So!!! I watched the UK international tour!!! In Sweden, on two different performances, and I have many thoughts about it. So here is a big post in which I’ve tried to make my brain’s incoherent screaming somewhat understandable <3 the problem is I forgot I was making this post and it is now months later ._.

This is less of an analysis and more just me cramming together everything I remember from the show into one monster of a post lol

The overture was incredible! It was so loud my entire chest was vibrating, and I know that sometimes makes people uncomfortable but I love it. I can’t point to anything specific that made the overture great, maybe it was actually hearing it live, but I loved it!

Tugger makes an entrance, even in chorus form. You know at the very beginning of Jellicle Songs when a few cats silently get on stage? Chorus Tugger hits the wall super loudly and startles the other cats when he arrives

Munkustrap has a pretty dark voice in this production and I’m a big fan <3 And at first I thought Cassandra did too, cause both times I watched it, when she says “Were you there when the pharaohs commissioned the Sphinx?” it sounds like she does, but not really during the “Jellicle cats have moonlit eyes” line. Idk much about voice types so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I did really like her voice (I really love international tour Cassandra so much so I’m definitely biased but her voice was great <3)

On Thursday Electra got the “When you’re walking alone” line, but she later swung on as Baby Griz, however on Saturday, Baby Griz got the line and Electra randomly appeared during the Jellicle Ball. I’m a bit confused about it but it was nice to see my girl Electra :D

During Jellicle Songs and The Naming, Cassandra and Mungojerrie were near each other and interacting with each other a lot, so I now have no other option but to headcanon them as friends <3

Misto and Cass were next to each other for like a second so Cassoffelees is canon because I said so

I love the mysic twins. Not for any specific reason I just do <3 this tour is the best thing to happen to the short haired cats’ wigs ever, I love their ears

In the first performance there was no boot that fell, so they just kind of awkwardly stopped singing and the audience started clapping a tiny bit before they picked up again, but it did fall the other time so idk what was up with that

I LOVE int tour Vicky, her design is so cute! You couldn’t really see her toasted marshmallow-iness because of the lighting but I’m assuming that’s intentional. She looked great though, and her solo was so !!!!

Ok so I know Vicky and Misto dance the invitation together in like all productions but please understand the severe chokehold monochromatic siblings has on me, them dancing together brings me much joy

Gumbie Tap is already one of my favorite parts of the show and this tour knocked it out of the park, Jenny’s “Smile!” in the middle of it is so good, it really gave the perfect vibes for my interpretation of her character. Her voice is amazing <3 the vibes were off the charts

I’ve made a note that Tugger’s voice was really good, I don’t remember exactly what it was that made his voice so good but like. Dude trust me, he’s got a good voice

Misto got the terrible bore line and really dragged it out like “Teeeeeeribel bore” it was great, afterwards he just sits on the car boot with Jelly and Skimble while pretending to ignore Tugger

When Bomba says the “curious beast” line she positively growls his name, a huge W for Tuggerlurina shipper

Casslonzo moment at the end of RTT, what better way to bond with your babe than thirsting over the guy you both have the hots for together

AND THEN GRIZ OH MY GOD Gunilla fucking killed it holy shit that voice oh my godddddd she’s a powerhouse and she puts so much emotion into her voice I was blown away every time she stepped on stage

I wrote “Bucket Boy stop being a bitch” and it doesn’t really add anything but I think it’s funny so I’m leaving it in. Munku steps in and stops Bucket Boy from being a bitch btw

Demeter looks like she’s reaching out to Griz before Bomba stops her??? my heart oof

I don’t mind the straight Griz wig for Gunilla. I think a lot of the time it makes Griz look to young, and can often, to me at least, contradict important parts of her characterization, but Gunilla’s vibes were just too amazing and she looked great, one of the few times I’ve seen a Griz with a straight wig and thought “Wow, yeah that’s really Grizabella how she should be”

Jenny is Jerrie and Teazer’s mum canon, she acts very Mum to them during Grizabella, they’re used to being trouble makers but this isn’t the type of trouble they like

Bustopher and the kittens have a bunch of cute interactions <3 example he scritches Carbucketty’s head its so cute

So Misto admires this man. He also does NOT like rice pudding at all. Blergh.

Bustopher knights Skimble with his spoon lol Also this Skimble is such a funky fella, he’s on all fours as much if not more than the kittens hehe

Teazer’s laugh is so cute <3

Misto’s voice when he asks the twins if it’s Old Deut </3 HE SOUNDS SO UNSURE OF HIMSELF

Misto spends a significant amount of the Jellicle Ball on the tire. He’s definitely played as a bit older than a lot of other modern productions, more like early London rather than 1998, he has a similar role to Munk so I guess that could be a reason? Either way it’s something I noticed I thought was interesting

You know after the white cat lift when they’re all on the ground? Tuggers mane is so big he sticks out so much it was kinda funny cause it’s this calm pause in the middle of a huge number and all I can think is “hehe Tugger is so fluffy”

Cass stops Vicky from touching Grizabella after the Ball???? Make of that what you will, but it was certainly A Moment for me

Here in my notes just praise Gunilla’s voice some more. It was just really good okay

She’s in the background during the Moments of Happiness and sings along with the chorus in Moonlight and it broke my heart like CAN’T YOU SEE SHE’S THERE AND SHE’S HURTING AAAAAA

Jelly <3 her voice is so good <3

Gus <3 he really embodies someone who’s mental energy exceeds his physical energy in a really heartbreaking way :( He keeps doing these movements like he’s preparing to do a scene but he’s too tired :(

The background of Gus’ number said Jemtoria rights btw

I’m in general not a big fan of new Pekes and Polls, I think it removes a lot of the fun in it even though I like the whole “Gus is doing theatre again” aspect, but despite that I enjoyed the number immensely because Munk and Gus’ voices are just SO GOOD like WOOOOOOOOOOOO

Tugger helps Gus change back from Rumpus Cat to his old coat btw. I thought that was important <3

OLD DEUT AND GUS HUG OMG I ALMOST STARTED CRYING THEEMMMMMM <3 Old Deut hugs are literally always amazing just because he’s big and fluffy and it looks so safe and comfortable but this had the added aspect of breaking my heart because Gus <3

Skimble!!!!!! Old Deut starts singing Skimbleshanks cause Rumpleteazer is upset and he wants to cheer her up :(

Skimble’s number is never not good <3 I had the train light shone in my face which was fun and Misto gave a lil wave to someone in the audience

My note here was “Hehe Mungo in da tube” which means that Mungojerrie was the one holding the chimney of the train, and when it all fell appart he was standing inside it laughing, it was great

Also! The feline staircase was Mungo and Munk, and Tugger was the one holding his hand. I think this version of Tugger is a lot more mature than a lot of other versions, but he kinda fades into the background? Idk, he seems much more like friends with the older cats which I think is really nice :]

In this one it’s more explicitly shown that Macavity is mind controlling the others when he kidnaps old Deut, they all fall asleep after he waves his hands at them

APPARENTLY THEY HAVE MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN MAC COSTUMES WHICH CREATES THE ILLUSION OF HIM TELEPORTING OMG I don’t know if this is new or has been a thing for a while but I didn’t know about it so when I saw it I was like :0 it was so cool

This Demeter ough <3 is SO good. I love her.

Tbh? Macavity (the song) wasn’t as sexy as I feel like it should be. Don’t get me wrong it was fucking AWESOME and OMG THEIR SINGING but idk. Someone who doesn’t know anything about the show wouldn’t care (but I do <3)

THE FIGHT OMG the bass was so strong it was like I could feel my heartbeat /pos and after he fails to kidnap Demeter he goes after Bomba for a hot second??

THE EXPLOSION AT THE END. DAMN.

The twins (I don’t remember if this is referring to the mystic twins of the chaos twins lmao) making sure Munk is okay after the fight <3

Tugger’s silhouette caused by the train lamp when he starts talking is so cool

When Griz falls all the cats sort of reach out to her as if to help her but stop themselves [cries]

Tbh just the slightest bit disappointed at the climax of Memory, she held that One note a bit shorter than I feel is necessary for the full effect BUT OMG HER VOICE OUGH

Hehe when Griz goes to the heaviside layer she just. Floats. Bye bye.

Here are some more general notes I don’t really know where to put

Right at the end of intermission someone was looking at their phone and Skimble stood super close to them and got super startled when they noticed him and a lot of the people who saw it laughed

THEN right after someone else was glued to their phone and Munkustrap rubbed his head against them and startled them and a bunch of people laughed again it was amazing

Cassoffelees is the most canon ever, during the bows they did a little spinny thing arm in arm <3 I think about them so much constantly

Misto also does these really precise chaînés across the entire stage and I thought it looked so cool it was awesome

Also. Cassoffelees as Victoria’s parents. Something to think about (I am Thinking about it)

And still. Gunilla is a fucking powerhouse. She’s up there with my favorite Grizabellas, like on par with Eleine Paige and Betty Buckley

In conclusion: Cats are excellent little creatures

Ok things I noticed/thoughts after seeing tour 6!!

I really had so much fun however I am being a bit of a hater at times just a warning

The choreography really heavily featured the kittens, I was missing the adults, particularly Munkustrap, Alonzo, and Bombalurina, where were they?

Tayler Harris was awesome! She didn’t ignore the detail that Grizabella is old and washed up, not just washed up. Her acting was so satisfying to watch I loved it.

Michelle E. Carter’s facial expressions were a gift and so was her amazing tap dancing. During bows she and Tayler were doing a little routine together it was cute.

Speaking of bows, Hank Santos and Tayler did their little handshake, I loved it.

I’m really sad about the new Bustopher Jones arrangement and staging, I did not like it at all. The performance itself was fine, but the material they were working with wasn’t great.

PEKES AND POLLICLES WAS FANTASTIC. 100% best number in the show, it was so much fun, especially the moments where Gus and Munkustrap were playing off each other. I just wish they kept Tugger’s bagpipe interruptions

Gus was fantastic in general, John Anker Bow’s voice was beautiful and round and. Well maybe I’m biased because Gus is already my fave but he left everyone in the DUST.

The transition from Rumpus Cat to Skimbleshanks was a little weird, because Gus didn’t have his last “moment of mystery”, which I guess makes sense as he didn’t have a flashback, he got to actually play Rumpus Cat.

LAST THJNF ABOUT GUS WHEN HE SAID “I ONCE PLAYED THE RUMPUS CAT” AND THEN OLD DEUTERONOMY RESPONDED “SO DO IT AGAIN” MY HEART MELTEDDDDDD

BRIAN AND TARYN REALLY SAID MUNGOTEAZER RIGHTS LMAO GOOD FOR THEM they were cuddling during Gus’s song it was adorable.

Brian’s voice holy shit I’m in love with it. Taryn too by all means not to shove her to the side but Brian really knows how to work that fry in there. Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer were just a delight to watch and listen to, loved every second.

Skimbledots, Demelurina, Jellypher, Cassoffelees and Tuggoffelees also got a lot of moments it was cute

Misto had a lot of interaction with the oldies, particularly Jennyanydots and Old Deuteronomy, but he was strangely absent during Bustopher Jones, it was instead Jenny who was helping him around.

Tugger was strangely absent after his number. During the Jellicle Ball he did very little, and he rarely left the sidelines, I was sad not to see him that much :(

Loved Hank Santos but the new Rum Tum Tugger choreo really is doing him dirty, he could go so much further with the old choreography.

There were two little kids sitting in front of me and they were absolutely adorable. They did not understand what was going on during Pekes and Pollicles and their dad was explaining it to them 🥺

The stage was very small and there was no aisle access, so they didn’t do green eyes or any of the aisle dancing in anything which was unfortunate but eh what can you do

In addition to the lack of aisle access, it was clear they had next to no fly space. They had the star lights and scrim, the ring-of-lights thing, and basically nothing else. The staircase to the Heaviside Layer extended awkwardly from stage right, and it didn’t retract fully back into the wing. It didn’t look terrible but it was a little clunky.

Multiple times throughout the show, most notably in the Macavity Fight and the Jellicle Ball, the tempo felt like it was dragging just slightly. The more hip-hop choreography is not as fluid as the ballet, so when the tempo is slower the choreo can’t flow with it, it just feels like it’s pausing and playing.

The Victor costume that Deuteronomy wears during JSFJC was so slay actually he had a little duster and a little tunic it was great I loved it.

I know I have been a hater of tour 6 wigs and makeup before. I still wasn’t big on the wigs but the makeup looked good from the audience! It still could have looked a bit more cat-like but it was a nice effect overall, especially Ibn Snell, Kade Wright, and Tayler Harris. The wigs were still yucky but it was tolerable.

Bombalurina and Demeter were fantastic! Their voices were gorgeous and I’m mad we didn’t see more of them, Bombalurina particularly, she was really sidelined.

Sam Buchanan as Macavity was not interesting to watch sorry. However I did find it interesting that the new choreo and arrangement makes a point to draw parallels between Tugger and Macavity, hearing some of the same motives was a nice Easter egg.

Andy Blankehuehduehalebgjer sure loves lifts, huh. They got boring after a while and I don’t think they were really very cat-like. His additions in general really didn’t mesh super well with the original choreo. In places like the Mistoffelees dance break, where it was just his stuff, it worked alright but in Frankenstein numbers like the Jellicle Ball his choreography stuck out like a sore thumb.

Kade’s singing voice does not match his speaking voice holy shit I was surprised

Hank Santos is shorter than I expected

The bit in Moments of Happiness where the twins are channeling Old Deut’s wisdom into Sillabub was restaged for whatever reason and now it just looked stupid?? Old Deuteronomy just. Bopped Coricopat on the head and then Tantomile bopped Sillabub on the head and they went away it was so dumb.

As I was driving away from the theater I saw Dominic Fortunato and I believe Max Craven walking on the sidewalk and I rolled down the window to drive-by-compliment them and they yelled thank you at me it was funny

All in all I had a freaking fantastic time!!!!!!!!

April 14:

Someone did a wolf-whistle at Tugger during the pause in the Misto number and Tugger looked at Misto and was like “oh HO!”

Just watching Alex standing during Pekes & Pollicles with his arms outstretched, eyes glancing sideways, beckoning for Louder Barks while continueing to smile winningly at the audience.

Munkustrap Wiggles during Skimble!!!

Munkustrap is REALLY conflicted about Grizabella—watching Munkustrap’s Face Journey is one of my favorite parts of this show

Interesting with Barbara Griz he wasn’t so aggressive during their Show down—in fact he reaches for her with a conflicted, yearning look on his face, then turns and leaps away. It absolutely parallels Demeter, and I didn’t see it with any of the other Grizabellas.

Munkustrap does look at her with pity for a good portion of the show. There is a History Here. (Also Barbara is Smol and Alex is Tol and it is extremely adorable)

Aulerstrap was FERAL tonight folks

The Demestrap PDA was pretty intense and hilarious tonight.

I mean it’s always there, but Anneke and Alex played it up to the nines

During Moments of Happiness when Munk goes to stretch out elegantly at the front of the stage he smolders at Demeter and slowlllly stretches his leg out. And Demeter gives him a look over her shoulder.

As Tugger is trying to convince everyone to give Misto a chance, they are TOTALLY MAKING OUT in the dark like DAMN you two get a room!

Munk raising up above Demeter and stroking down her leg before they fall down in to the cuddle pile 😳😳 (Bomba is there too on the other side. In fact Tugger, Munk, Demeter, and Bomba kind of curl up together)

Munkustrap doesn’t want Bomba there when Tugger appears—perhaps their combined energy would make the stage combust or something XD

(She comes back later when Munk is relaxing in the back and going with the flow)

Petra is an elegant and sexy Bomba. Anneke is showy and voluptuous. Birgit is reserved and seductive. I loved them all but I think Anneke’s might be my favorite.

Sinisi Tugger and Aulerstrap are Gay Pirate Boyfriends. While Snova Tugger was a little jealous of Munk’s crush on Griddle, and Dominick’s Tugger had more of a crush than Munk, clearly both of them here have a thing for Griddle and they are 100% on board with that. Also it takes them ages to get Comfy in the Oven!!

(Also with Tol/Smol Munk vs. Tugger Munk does the heavy lifting)

Matt Levick never stops smiling during the entire show and I don’t know how he does it. But I adore him for it.

After the show I put on my Big Girl Boots and grabbed people to take pictures of me with the kitties! I got to meet Anna Carina Buchegger and she is tiny (meaning MY height) and sweet and adorable and I put money in her box twice but there wasn’t really anyone to take pictures. BUT I jumped in with Matt Levick as Misto and pushed my phone into someone's hands. He’s surprisingly tall! (Or I should say normal height? I guess perpetually standing next to his Giant Boyfriend skews the perception 😂😂) Also the Mistoffelees costume is gorgeous! (I had to refrain from touching the sparklies but I really really wanted to)

AND George Maniadis (Alonzo) was in the lobby taking adorable pictures with small children and crouching down with them. So I nabbed an usher to take a picture and he did the lean over/head tilt thing and he was so sweet and AAAAAAA!!!

The costumes and the makeup and the wigs are stunning up close—very vibrant and deep contrasting colors.

Fantastic and beautiful night 🥺

Cats Vienna, 11.06.2022

Didn’t plan to write an text today cause today was the Vienna Pride and I’m tired as fuck but some interesting things happened today. I make it short.

Carbucketty was played by Tommie Luyben. Think it was the first time for me seeing him in this role. He played him less proud and more fun than the other Carbuckettys.

After seeing the show so many times the moment when Tugger (a grown ass man in a cat suit) enters the stage and says Miau is still funny. Also: Love the choreo that the cats do during the part were Tugger would normally go into the audience. Great fan of the Vicky (Thomas) and Electra (Riddoch) interactions today during Tugger und Bustopher BFFs. Also loved how Bill (Luke) wanted to play with Jemima (Bertinshaw) at the end of the Tugger song but she ignored him and went up to Tugger to scream together with the other girls. He seemed kind of sad about it.

The last couple of times Tugger (Hees) kicked the ball in Munk’s direction (sitting on the tire. Today he had to duck. Tugger loves anoying Munk during his number.

During Bustopher Alonzo (Mandiadis) was “T-Posing” in the background. Bomba (Dam) walked up to him and he put one of is T-posing arms around her shoulder which was cute.

At the end of Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer it looked like Mungojerrie (Majert) was sheltering/protecting Rumpleteazer (Rackham) from the others.

When Old Deut enters the stage, I love how Demeter (Vazzoler) makes the most dramatic bow for him ever. She really goes down to the floor.

During the Pekes and Pollicles Admetus (Li) bumped so hard into Mungo that he lost his dog hat.

Also, at the beginning when the girls lie next to Old Deut that always reminds me of Star Wars, were Leah sits next to Jabba the Hutt, lol.

When the queens sing their short Macavity song the others leave the stage but Chorus Gus (Martin) always waits for Jelly (Obermeier), takes her hand and they leave together.

Biggest surprise today: Pas de deux today was not Admetus and Vicky but Alonzo and Vicky. Alonzo went up to her and first I was like “move, boy, the pas de deux is starting” but then he started it and I was like “ooohhh”. Maniadis covers the Admetus/Macavity role so he knows it. Don’t know why they changed it today but I liked it quite a lot. Looked interesting because Vicky is white and Alonzo is black and white.

Also, front center is always Misto and Carbucketty, usually they both do their reversed body role but today Carbucketty didn’t do it but scretched Misto’s chest before cuddeling with Rump again.

Today during Skimbleshanks Carbucketty told Electra to misbehave and he was so proud of himself that he had to tell Rumple immediatly. Also: Coricopat (Batten) copied Skimble’s movement today. He sits behind him near Old Deut. Maybe he wants to follow in his footsteps. Next year: The Railway Cat pt. 2: Coricopat. Also at the beginning of the song Rumple and Mungo craweld under Munkustrap’s legs to get to Skimble. At first he seemed kind of annoyed but then he shrugged it off.

Today for the first time during Macavity I didn’t stare at Bomba and Deme the whole time but looked at the girls dancing in the back and the choreo is really cool too. Have to look it up online or in the 1998 movie again. Really liked it.

Love how Peploe-Williams when she plays Cassandra always checks on Demeter when she’s freed from Macavity.

Normally at the end of Mistoffelees Alonzo and Admetus lift him up but today it was Alonzo and Carbucketty.

When Grizabella (Filipcic) was accepted back into the tribe, she took Demeters face between her hands and Demeter did her dramatic bow again, the same one she does for Old Deut. I really do love how Vienna plays her relationship to Munk, Griz and Mac (they get that she’s the main character, lol).

During the bows Jelly took and Rainbow Flag out with her and waved it. Very much appreciated. I like.

went to see Cats last night (christmas gift from my parents) and it was very funny (duh, cats is always fun unless it’s the 2019 movie).

They made some really fun/smart/interesting choices which I hugely enjoyed such as:

-Old Deutoronomy took a much more active role than he often does moving around the stage a lot more, singing the first few lines of a few songs such as Skimbleshanks, which worked really well, he was actually leading the jellicles instead of just watching their antics

- on that note though the one and only thing I didn’t like about this was that Old Deutoronomy hugged both Gus and Grizzabella and also misto after getting rescued by him. Idk. Hugging just feels? Not cat like? I didn’t like it but it was literally just 3 hugs so i’ll forgive it

- they made the VERY clever choice of moving Pekes and the Pollicles after Gus the theatre cat and having Gus play the great Rumpus Cat. I loved that bc it gave pekes and pollcles more weight (instead of just being ‘’the cats put on a play inside the play’’ it’s now ‘’Gus is old and kind of sad and wants to reprise his old role so the cats encourage him to do just that and they all put on a play together’’ it gave Gus more room while still cutting Growltiger’s last stand (which let’s be real is always cut. Like. I’ve seen cats 3 times and they all cut that song which is..... sad).

- just in general the songs all connected really well, the transitions between them always felt really natural and good which you don’t always get with Cats. The flow was really good.

- they made Tugger and misto somehow even gayer by having misto not just magic the rainbow banner out of a hat and dancing around on stage with it but also then linking arms with tugger and skipping over said rainbow banner and just adding a lot of misto/tugger arm in arm dancing to the song in general

- they also replaced Tugger’s ‘’ladies and gentlemen...’’ with ‘’felines and friends’’ which is a small touch, but I am nonbinary so it made me happy

- just. Tugger. He’s always so fun but this one had SUCH gremlin energy it was incredible, he was shorter than other Tuggers I’ve seen which didn’t make him any less hot (judging by my mom’s reaction to him lol) but it just. idk it added something that he was shorter than both misto and munkustrap and also was constantly climbing onto tall things when he needed to just exist in the background, like he’s hot and he’s absolutely one of the leaders and yes he’s respected but also he’s a little gremlin cat who wants to be tall

- munkustrap who’s always been one of my faves was incredible as always and he was very annoyed at tugger the faces he made in the background of tugger’s introduction song were hilarious, he took great care of the kittens as always and his fight with macavity was?? so good? idk if they made it longer or what but it somehow hit me more than it usually does, the way once he went down all the other cats who’d been scared ganged up on macavity? they love him so much this is so cute

i keep playing around with the idea of misto and tugger hitting it off really well and tugger then gushing to his older brother + friends about misto. tugger doesn't really have a lot of close friends outside of munkustrap, demeter, and bomba, who are all older than him, so they all collectively see him as their troublemaking baby brother.

and tugger like, won't stop talking about this guy in his psych class who's a dance major ("he's a dance major deme! maybe you know him!") and how he's short and so so funny and he's cute, too. about how he invited tugger to see his little band perform at a local bar next weekend, and tugger really wants his friends to come and meet this cute mystery boy.

bomba really doesn't want to go ("i'm not getting emotionally invested in another one of your flings, tugger.") and she's very vocal about it. but munkustrap has never seen tugger this excited about someone, so he says he'll go, and demeter is curious about if she actually has met this cat, so bomba relents and they go.

misto actually saved tugger a table near the front, and so they sit, and then this group of young-looking students come onto the stage and introduce themselves as the conjuring cats and immediately the friends know that the small black tom playing the bass is the object of tugger's affection.

and while they play just covers of songs, they sound good. everyone's performances mesh well, and tugger is just absolutely enraptured the entire time. when the show wraps up, he actually looks nervous, which bomba has never seen, and that alone convinces her that he's at least semi-serious about misto.

tugger and misto talk after the show for a long time. they look cute next to each other, and tugger's friends get to meet the band.

pretty much everyone except tugger and misto know they're going to get together by the end of the year.

Emmikay’s CATS Field Notes

Okay, I finally got everything typed up!

First I want to say that I’m so happy that I got see the show! The cast did an amazing job, and it looked like they were having fun. I hope they were, the audience loved them. It was absolutely worth both the wait, and the stress of getting there.

These are my thoughts on the individual songs, and fun moments I noticed during them! I tried to write these out as clearly as possible. And I know there’s probably so much that I missed in the background, but this is what stood out to me!

Act One

Opening

The opening was a lot of fun. I did spend some of the time pinning down who everyone was, but it was a lot of fun picking them out of the crowd. It actually took me awhile to find Tugger/ Bill Bailey.

I also feel sorry for the person in the seat they picked out for ‘the man over there’. Maybe they had already seen CATS, but I think if it were me, I’d still be scared. They made it sound very accusatory as well, which I found pretty funny. ‘The Naming of Cats’ was still appropriately creepy. I think one of the ladies in front me had never seen CATS, because she turned to friend as asked “What is happening?” It was too bad they couldn’t go into the isles during this tour, but I still enjoyed the eyes appearing on stage during the overture.

Jennyanydots, the Old Gumbie Cat

Jenny seemed really sweet, and was acting with a lot of energy. The whole number was very cute as a whole. I noticed that Skimbleshanks brought out the mouse masks, called over the mice, who I think were Victoria, Sillabub and Rumpleteazer, and handed out their masks. The cockroaches were Tumblebrutus, Pouncival and either Plato or Mungojerrie, but I’m not sure which. Both the mice and cockroaches stayed on stage for quite a bit of the number.

Another very cute thing I noticed, is that Misto was helping Jenny out a lot during her number, guiding her around, helping her sit down and get back up when she was in the first costume. There was also a moment where Jenny seemed to space out, and Misto was trying to gentling get her attention again.

Throughout the entire musical, it seemed like Misto was trying to help out and be as useful as possible. I interpreted it as Misto trying to prove he’s a mature adult now, who should be taken Seriously.

The Rum Tum Tugger

Tugger! Zach Bravo was delightful, of course. He’s just so much fun to watch. The whole number was very fun. I’m pretty sure Tugger flirted with most of the cats on stage in one way or another, other than Munkustrap, who he was definitely trying his best to annoy, as any little brother would do. I noticed Munkustrap and Alonzo plotting by the car just before they did the ‘Terrible Bore’ line.

There were a lot of cute moments between Tugger and Misto as well. At the start of the number, Misto and Skimbleshanks were sitting of the car together. Skimbleshanks seemed to smooth down Misto’s white neck fluff, before Misto joined the dancing. My friend and I agreed that it had very strong ‘Dad straightening his son’s tie before he goes on a date’ vibes. Tugger and Misto had great chemistry, which made the added choreography of them dancing together very fun to watch.

After Misto made the spotlights for Tugger, he crawled through Tugger’s legs. Tugger was pelvic thrusting while he was doing this, and if that’s not symbolism, I don’t know what it was.

Do to the lack of kitten characters in this production, most of the female characters were in the ‘squealing circle’ at the end, including Demeter and Cassandra. Misto was also part of it.

Grizabella the Glamour Cat

I’ve made my feeling about post-revival Grizabella known, so I won’t repeat them. That being said, Tayler Harris did a really good job, and I felt legitimately sorry for Grizabella. In this show, Jenny seemed to take the leading role in shooing the kittens, and everyone else away from Grizabella. Jellylorum helped out a bit, but it was mainly Jenny. Tumblebrutus and Pouncival both bullied Grizabella quite a bit and had to be shooed away.

In this show, Munkustrap was being played by Taylor James Rosenberger. He did a really good job, and had a really nice voice. One thing I noticed is that he plays Munkustrap as being very aggressive towards Grizabella. While other Munkustraps have seemed sad or resigned towards her, it was clear that he actively disliked her. It was actually an interesting twist, because usually it’s Tugger who really dislikes her, but in this show it was almost like the roles reversed.

Bustopher Jones, the Cat about Town

Bustopher Jones was quite a bit of fun, he was played as a very jolly, good natured guy. It seemed like he was very much enjoying entertaining all the cats, and all the attention they were giving him. I actually really like the part where several of the characters, I believe it was Munkustrap, Alonzo, Skimbleshanks, Mistoffelees, Victoria, and someone else who I can’t remember start offering food for him to try. I also noticed an interesting moment where at the beginning of the song, Tugger is lounging on the car, and he and Demeter seem to a have a little chat before Demeter goes to join the dancing.

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer were pretty good. I read their interactions as best friends rather than siblings or in a relationship, which was fun to watch. In the show, Bustopher Jones doesn’t say his “Toodle-pip” until after Jerrie and Teazer scare everyone,then immediately ran off.

I will say, this is probably the number that entertained me the least. It may just be that I was spoiled watching the 1998 version, but there weren’t a lot of the acrobatics and more entertaining dancing that previous shows have had. The actors themselves did a great job, though. Also, at the end, it was Munkustrap and Plato that hold up their loot bags instead of Alonzo.

Old Deuteronomy

This was a very sweet number, as it should be! Old Deuteronomy seemed like a very warm and happy character, and all of the cats seemed very happy and excited to see him. As I said earlier, Munkustrap had a very nice voice, and did a really good job with this number. And it was very cute when Munkustrap and Tugger started singing together. Tugger had been annoying Munkustrap since his number, so Munk seemed relieved that Tugger was actually acting on his best behaviour for once. Of course, as soon as Old Deuteronomy appeared on stage, Tugger did his mane shimmy, but Old Deuteronomy seemed to find it more amusing than anything else. Tugger also was the one helping Old Deuteronomy up and down the tire. He loves his dad!

The Jellicle Ball

I mean, what can I say? The dancing was amazing, and lighting was fun, and there was so much happening it was hard to take in. All of the cast are really talented, and it was so impressive to see it in person!

I picked up on a lot of little moments in between the dancing. Throughout act one, Misto hangs out with both Skimbleshanks and Cassandra quite often, usually on top of the car. I noticed Tugger hanging out with Cassandra a few times as well. There quite a few interactions between Demeter and Munkustrap. They danced together at the ball, and I noticed that the moves weren’t dissimilar to the choreography between Misto and Tugger one of the times they danced together in The Rum Tum Tugger. There were also several instances where they seemed to check in with each other during scene transitions throughout the act. When Gus entered for the first time towards the end of the Ball, Jellylorum held his hand to help him onstage.

There was one really funny thing when Grizabella appeared after the Pas de Deux. When Misto spots her on the car, he makes all the hanging lights turn on, then jumped on the car himself to try and scare her away. He immediately turned to Jellylorum like: “Did I do a good job?” Grizabella, however, wasn’t scared away, and Munkustrap had to go up and shoo her away. Poor Misto, you tried your best.

Memory: Prelude

All the cats vacated the stage when Grizabella showed up again. Munkustrap stayed the longest, and as he was leaving he was still trying to keep an eye on her. Tayler Harris has a really amazing voice, and I was already excited for how Memory proper was going to sound. Also, during the song, when Grizabella was facing the audience Old Deuteronomy was watching her sadly, however several times she glanced behind her, and whenever she did, he would turn away from her, which I thought was an interesting detail.

Act Two

Moments of Happiness

There was a guy in my row who never came back during intermission. Weak.

Old Deuteronomy entered the stage a bit before intermission ended, which was cool. It’s too you couldn’t get pictures of him because of COVID, but I was happy I was able to get some photos from my seat.

This song also sounded amazing. It was portrayed as though Old Deuteronomy was trying to lecture the cats, but they just weren’t getting it. Jemima also sounded really good during her solo. One funny moment, right at the beginning, Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer skipped onto the stage, only to get a look from Old Deuteronomy, and immediately looked guilty.

Gus, the Theatre Cat

Another sad number, but again, it’s supposed to be. Jellylorum did a good job, and also sold me old the fact she was happy to be talking about Gus’s past, but also sad, because it was likely he would be chosen tonight. At the beginning of the number either Tantomile or Coricopat set out a row of tin cans across the front of the stage and Misto used magic to turn them into stage lights. During the number, most of the cats were gathered at the back of the stage, but a few of the younger ones were sitting around Gus. Jenny and Skimbleshanks were sitting on top of the car together. Skimbleshanks, actually, was the one who looked offended when Gus said that jumping through a hoop doesn’t make you special. Misto was sitting on top of the pipe, and when Tugger entered part way through the song, the two of them seemed to have a quiet conversation.

The Aweful Battle of the Peakes and the Pollicles

This number was very fun! Gus was having a good time living out his glory days, and was acting pretty goofy while he was portraying the Rumpus Cat. During the number Tugger didn’t participate, but moved over to the tire to sit with Old Deuteronomy, and watch the show with him. During the part where everyone is barking at each other Munkustrap almost got trampled, which is when he yelled at everyone. Poor Munk. It’s not even his show anymore, and he still can’t catch a break.

Skimbleshanks, the Railway Cat

Another really fun one! There was a lot of energy, and everyone seemed like they were having a good time. It doesn’t matter what the production, Skimbleshanks is a very popular cat. At the beginning, both Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer helped sing lines, which was adorable!

Tugger didn’t dance for most of the song, only joinng in at the very end, but he was vibing the entire time. Throughout act two I kept glancing up at Tugger, and he was never out of character. Even if he was just standing there, it still felt like he was standing in a way that fit the character. The woman from before seemed amazed when they built the train on stage, which is the absolute correct reaction. Misto was the one holding the train light, which I know he usually does, but it was still adorable.

Macavity the Mystery Cat

When Macavity first appears everyone seemed frozen in place. It was pretty heavily implied that Macavity does have magical powers in this version. Munkustrap stepped forward to confront him, but Macavity glared and pointed at him, and Munkustrap froze, then collapsed on the stage, as if Macavity had forced him to pass out. It was only after that he grabbed Old Deuteronomy. I’m not sure if other productions have included that, but I really liked it. As well, for several of the Macavity scares, it looked to me like Tugger had a more active role of helping to look for him.

Both Demeter and Bombalurina were amazing in the song. It felt really jazzy, but also like they legitimately trying to warn all the other queens who were onstage. Munkustrap and several of the other toms entered towards the end of the number and watched the last bit of it. I’m not sure because I wasn’t focusing on him, but Munkustrap seemed relieved when he was back onstage, either because all of the queens were safe, of because Demeter and Bombalurina were warning everyone.

Macavity Fight

Again, Macavity has pretty apparent magic, because when he enters again he seems to forced several of the queens to start preforming the dance moves from his number again, before Munkustrap intervenes. I always find that really creepy when productions add that detail, and I’m happy it was included here.

The fight itself was intense as well. Poor Munk took quite a beating. After they swiped and threatened each other a bit, Macavity knocked Munkustrap to the ground. He got up pretty quickly, but seemed shaky. He immediately tried to reenter the fight, and then Macavity grabbed him and pinned him against the car, where he slashed at his throat twice. Munkustrap staggered a few steps before collapsing and staying down. It was actually pretty brutal, and I legitimately gasped when it happened. After Munkustrap went down, Macavity went after Demeter, and Alonzo pulled him off of her. That was when the entire tribe started going after Macavity, and he knocked the light out with the jumper cables.

Demeter and Munkustrap still had their cuddles after Macavity disappeared. Poor dears, I think they both really needed it.

Mister Mistoffelees

It’s my boy! Paul Giarratano and Zach Bravo both did an amazing job, and I was so excited to see this is person!

At the beginning, which I think is probably in most productions, the cats turned away from Tugger when he first suggested asking Misto for help, and he had to call them back. Tugger was so supportive of Misto, as any good Tugger should be. I can’t be completely certain, but I’m pretty sure Tugger didn’t take his eyes off of Misto for the entire number, which was so adorable, in my opinion. He loves him so much! I liked all the tricks they did with the lights to create magic effects. It would have cool if they had used flash paper and smoke effects, but this was still fun to watch. The dancing was a lot of fun as well, especially with Misto’s colour changing jacket, and the strings of light around the stage flashing rainbow colours.

Also… (Deep inhale)

I SAW THE CONJURING TURNS! IN PERSON! I SAW MISTO DO THE CONJURING TURNS, AND IT WAS AWESOME! VINDICATION! SWEET SWEET VINDICATION!

Anyway…

The way he brought back Old Deuteronomy was interesting. Instead of using the sheet Misto used magic to give everyone a candle or a like to hold, or something like that. They all gathered together, and when they separated, Old Deuteronomy was in the middle of the group.

When Tugger started singing again, after Old Deuteronomy appeared, it looked like Old Deuteronomy though he was singing about himself, but Tugger immediately redirected his attention to Mistoffelees. Then, after Misto hugged Old Deuteronomy, he and Tugger shimmied and nuzzled together, which was adorable.

The number ended on a funny moment, with Misto making the spotlight get smaller and smaller until it was just illuminating his face, before turning it out completely.

Memory

As I was hoping, this was beautiful, and sounded so amazing. Also, basically the entire thing was performed with Grizabella hunched out, and holy crap? How are you getting those high notes in that position?

When Grizabella first appeared again, Munkustrap stepped forward to chase her off, with Old Deuteronomy stopping him. He stepped forward again, to stop Victoria when she started to approach Grizabella after the number, and Old Deuteronomy had to hold him back again. This Munkustrap really did not like Grizabella.

I noticed that in this production Sillabub often acts similarly to Tugger, spending a lot of time watching the action from one the higher perches. She was doing the same thing in Macavity.

Journey to the Heaviside Layer

Very nice, and it’s always heartwarming when Grizabella is welcomed back into the tribe. Tugger actually reached out to her very quickly. Conversely, Munkustrap was the Second last to touch her, and didn’t actually moved towards her, he only touched Grizabella when she went to see Old Deuteronomy. He never looked her in the eye either, and was acting extremely guilty about the entire thing.

The tire rose up, but they also had what looked like a star bridge descend for Grizabella to climb up, which was a detail I liked.

The Ad-dressing of Cats

Very well sung, by both Old Deuteronomy and the rest of the cast. The lady in front of me seemed confused again, though I don’t know if it was about this song, or what had just happened to Grizabella. Skimbleshanks seemed very excited at the mention of cream.

Bows

Very entertaining! My hands hurt from clapping so much!

A final funny thing, after all the individual bows both Munkustrap and Jenny were teasing Tugger, and trying to steal the spotlight from him!

So that is that! I had so much fun! If anyone wants to talk more, or ask anything, I would enjoy that, but I hope you liked my field notes, as my friend called them. (I was typing them on my phone during intermission, and immediately after the show)

CATS 2021 (US Tour 6)

This is essentially a post of all the things I noticed about Cats US tour 6. Please keep in mind that there's so much going on in this show and it's very possible that I missed a few interactions or noticed things that others might not consider important.

1: Demestrap: Someone asked me to tell about all the Demestrap I noticed. Firstly, Munk and Deme dance with each other during the Jellicle Ball. Second, they can be seen in the background of one of the songs (Skimbleshanks, I think) pawing at each other and having a cute little chat. Third, Munk defends Deme from Macavity in this version.

2: Gus reminds me of my grandma.

3: I feel like poor Bombie was stuck in the background most of the time, but I loved seeing how protective she is towards Deme.

4: Bustopher greets Victoria so sweetly and I'm pretty sure I said, "Aww," out loud.

5: Cass and Misto have a little dance break together during Misto's number, and it gave me major Cassoffelees vibes. Also...Cass lights up all pink when she dances with Misto and it's really awesome!

6: Demeter seems very friendly and playful with Victoria in the background of multiple songs. Also...when we actually see Macavity for the first time, Deme turns to check on Silli and make sure she's alright (cause Silli is totally her baby). She also checks on Alonzo a few times throughout the musical.

7: As most of you probably already know, Electra and Etcetera are sadly absent and I miss them.

8: Grizabella feels so distant from the Tribe from the beginning, but at the end, every cat gets to touch her before she goes to the Heavyside Layer-- even little Sillabub!

9: Immediately before Sillabub goes to join the Tugger dance number, she can be seen getting a helpful grooming from Jellylorum.

10: Jellylorum is often seen fist-bumping other characters and that's so cool.

11: Sillabub is the best little baby.

12: Macavity's laugh is more startling here than the 1998 version.

13: Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are the chaos twins, as per usual. Munkustrap carries Rumpleteazer offstage after their part of the curtain call, and it's the cutest thing!

14: Tugger greets Old Deuteronomy with a mane shimmy and I love it!!!

15: I think Skimbleshanks and Jennyanydots are seen laying together on the trunk at some point, but I can't remember when.

16: Victoria gets lifted in the air a lot and it's almost distracting.

17: The kittens swat at the adult's tails and it's so adorable. I said "Aww," a lot.

That's about it for now. There are definitely other character moments that could be considered shipping material, but these are the ones that really stood out to me. I will hopefully make future posts about my canon for this show, depending on how much it varies from the 1998 version. Overall, I still need time to process everything I saw because it was so amazing.

Part one of me liveblogging this recording of the Mexico 1991 production of Cats !

It gives us the overture, but the recording skips Jellicle Songs. Sad to miss that but this Munk could totally grow on me. I think he will. His headfur is so fluffy!!!! His voice is also very good.

No Misto gag for the start of Gumbie Cat

All of the Gumbie Trio have such fluffy headfur too. Munk again didn't flinch when Jenny plucked some of his fur.

Look at this rascal beetle— cute ! I'm lovong this production already. Ooooh, and its the older instrumental vesion of Gumbie Cat. Should've expected this as a given but I like it.

For she's a jolly good fe-eellow!

IT JUST CUT TO TUGGER TARAZAN SWINGING INTO THE SCENE THIS IS WILD

Several cats, including Quaxo/Misto sung the Terrible Bore line

RIP Bomba taking that fall. Tugger has entered the crowd and is dancing with some poor audience member, but they seem happy so. Who could blame them?

Here comes Grizabella to ruin his show again 🙄 Munk is instantly doing the Stance at her. Vic is shooed off from touching her, and other Jellicles play mean little tricks as Griz reaches for them. Her voice is strong though

Demeter looks cool, and so does this Griz. This production is unlike the usual with the designs because of the headfur especially.

Bomba lightly grooms Demeter's shoulder before signing with her.

Quaxoffelees is excited to see Bustopher, who is wearing an interesting hat and twirling a cane. He sits on the side of a guitar.

Okay, this Misto? Really cute. I've decided to switch between using Quaxo, Misto, and Quaxoffelees to refer to him. He's so excited !

Bustopher just bapped a cat trying to touch him with his cane.

Cats are scrabbling over him to the side before lining up for him

Bustopher kissed some happy queen's paw, who in return purred in delight. I think it was Jellylorum.

Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer!!!! Rumple's laugh

Oh they're devious rascals. Not the older and more sister version of the song as I was expecting. A mix of some interesting pauses in the song though

THEY HAVE ENTERED THE AUDIENCE AND ARE BEING RASCALS

Back to the stage for them. I think they're a couple in this production? Hard to tell. Rumple shoved him down to say her name after him, LOL

And there's nothing at all to be done about that!

They're being chased off by the cats, but their bags of loot were thrown to them this time, which they caught.

Munk sings the "I believe it is Old Deuteronomy" line, I think, and sends off some Jelllicle (Skimble?) to get him instead of Misto.

I'm sold on this Munk.

Tugger is being gentle when signing about Deut. They're getting along well it seems. Love seeing them work together.

In comes Deuteronomy! I think they're using a different name for him. Tugger did a very respectful bow to his fluffy highness.

Happy kitties running about! Before there's a loud crash and it all goes dark. First Macavity Scare. I think they're skipping Pekes and Pollicles to put it in Act II.

Sillabub/Jemima and Victoria are so pretty, especially Jemima.

I want more Misto shots.

Jellilcle Ball time. My favorite part, alongside all other songs in the musical. Munk is dancing woth turm a bit.

Misto does his leg thing and gets some spotlight :] I love that

Demeter has come to spice things up with some queens before Misto and Pouncival (?) mellow things out again. Apparently Deut was in the audience for a minute, lots of audience interaction, and I'm living for it.

Victoria being the pretty Spirit of Cats right before the Pas de Deux stsrts. She's paired with Plato I think? Can't tell, but it's beautiful. I can't make out who's with who, but Munk is watching at Deut's side as always.

This part of the musical always gets me hyped up, it's my favorite @##@

Guitar going at it for the instrumentals, really liking them here. As well as the brass. I love how memorable this part always is. This production is really worth watching.

When people talk about the spectacle of Cats, this has to be one of those examples.

Uppast's Cats Tour Comments: Specific Cats

Tugger gets his own post because I’m still feeling A LOT over Zach seeing my video and commenting on my Instagram post

Here are all the requested Cats! If I missed one feel free to let me know and I’ll either add on or do another post!

Alonzo

Okay, I don’t know if it’s because Vinny looks younger, or if his makeup makes him look younger, but I very much got “first time protector Alonzo” vibes!

He was always looking at either Munkustrap or Old Deut for reassurance.

He was Very Annoyed by Tugger’s song.

He had SO many sweet moments with Demeter, either dancing with her or sitting with her during songs.

He also had a few precious moments with Jellylorum, either sitting next to her, or standing with her!

I LOVE how he geared up to fight Macavity. It feeds into the “young tom wanting to prove himself” vibe, and Vinny played it SO well.

Mungojerrie

SILLY SILLY BOY

He got pets from Munkustrap and was very proud of himself.

He and Tugger (and Rumple, since they were with each other), had such a sweet moment sitting together, I love them.

He had so much fun during Skimble’s song!

Also he was laughing during Tugger’s “99 wives” line and it was adorable.

Plato

OHHHHHH I HAVE THINGS TO SAY

Hyla and Aiden gave off very much “just a little older than the kittens but still young” vibes, so Plato was with the Kitten Squad a LOT

He was basically their babysitter during Bustopher’s song and it was adorable.

His expressions during the Ball 🥺 he was so excited to dance with Victoria

There was a moment during the Ball where he danced with Sillabub, and I think Brianna’s just TINY because the height difference was adorable.

Mistoffelees

He was ALWAYS dancing. If he had to go off stage or move around, he was so graceful and did some sort of twirl or jump!

He was sitting on the pipe during Gus’ song and was very interested in what was happening.

I LOVE PAUL’S VOICE SO MUCH

The Invitation was definitely one of my favorite Misto Moments, just the way he interacted with everyone and was so excited!

Also him interacting with Jennyanydots during her song was great, he seemed very concerned by the fact that she kept zoning out.

Munkustrap

He got to be silly during Bustopher’s song and I loved that for him

Every time Griz showed up he went to his full height like “i don’t want to hurt you but you have to leave”

Every interaction he had with Tugger was perfect.

He was SUCH a good protector, checking on everybody!

Every moment he had with Demeter was precious.

HE HAD A MOMENT WITH SILLA DURING THE PROLOGUE WHERE HE LIFTED HER AND SHE WAS SO LITTLE AND HE WAS SO TALL AND MY DAD MUNKUS HC IS SO VALIDATED

Jellylorum

BEST MOM BEST MOM

She ALWAYS had an eye on the kittens, but she still had fun!

She had such a cute reaction to Gus’ song, either nodding along or giving him a Look like “did that really happen?”

She was just always around another cat, checking in on them, making sure they were alright.

Also LOTS of Jennylorum moments!!

Kitten Squad

BABIES

Ok so the Kitten Squad consisted of Sillabub, George, and Tumblebrutus! Sadly, no Pounce

They were ALWAYS sitting together, basically just in a pile.

During Jennyanydots’ song, they each went between the Gumbie trio’s legs and played with their tails 🥺🥺 Tumble played with Jellylorum’s, Silla was playing with Bombalurina’s, and George was playing with Demeter’s, and Demeter played with his paw 🥺🥺🥺

They were SO well-behaved for Bustopher’s song, they did Munkus proud.

Tumblebrutus and George were together for the reprise of Memory, and George was hiding his face but Tumblebrutus was watching Griz the entire time and I loved that.

Cassandra

She, Tugger, and Misto lounged together a LOT, with Tugger and Misto usually switching out.

During Skimble’s song, she sat behind Misto during the Fake Train and was just smiling and having fun!!

She helped Deuteronomy back to his seat and they were so cute

She also had SO much fun during Mistoffelees’ song when her costume lit up!

Demeter

She was POWERFUL

She did get to have fun during Jennyanydots’ song, as she DESERVES

She actually interacted with the other cats quite a bit, which I really loved! We don’t see a lot of Demeters doing that.

Also my rarepair self was loving all the Tugmeter interactions, they were wonderful.

So many sweet Demestrap moments, their chemistry was amazing

I’ve said it before but HER VOICE WAS LITERALLY SO GORGEOUS I WAS ABSOLUTELY FLOORED I LOVE HER

Sooo along with that Cryptid Misto tought

What if someday, while he was busy being creepy and all. He started feeling... Kinda lonely. Yes, he has Tugger who loves him, bur even he sometimes gets kinda scared of his antics. And the rest of the tribe fears him or evades him. And even Munk usually acts mad around him for just... Being there and "Creeping the kits out with that look". He knows he doesn't actually hate him... He thinks.

So he starts working on a spell

Coricopat and Tantomille don't have this problem, because they have each other. Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer also are ok with each other, even if the tribe doesn't tolerante them.

He's gonna magic himself a companion. Someone who doesn't care for his creepy looks or his weird antics. Someone who may even join him! Someone who loves him and doesn't run away no matter how creepy he can get.

He works in this spell for weeks. Far away from the junkyard. He doesn't even tell Tugger what he's doing. And Tugger just assumes is something he wouldn't understand as being from this dimension.

And he puts his heart and soul in it.

And he fucking does it.

But it's... Not like he expected this to be.

The cat that appears in front of him doesn't resemble him. It's the same tuxedo fur. The same heterocromatic eyes. The same glowing glitter. But his face is rounder and his ears aren't horned. And he has white paws and a cute look overall. He's adorable.

But he doesn't run away. He's so happy to be there. And to be with Misto and assures him they're gonna have lots of fun together. He tells him his name is Quaxo. And that he is not gonna leave his side.

Misto is confused. But this is a positive outcome. So he brings Quaxo to the junkyard.

That's when problems start.

Everyone is so shocked to find this adorable version of Misto. And they are so surprise because this cat is so polite and nice and he's kinda shy, but he's so cute and nice. The adults absolutely love him. And the kittens inmediatly take him as a friend and nuzzle against him and his glowing fur. Munkustrap even comes and welcomes him to the tribe with open arms and a big smile.

And Misto is heart broken.

He didn't get that. He didn't get nuzzles from Jenny or a pat on the back from Munkustrap or kittens wanting to play with him. Why does Quaxo get to have it? This was supposed to make him feel less lonely.

But Quaxo inmediatly wins over everyone. And even gets to open the Jellicle Ball with Victoria. And to dance with Tumblebrutus. And to greet Bustopher Jones. And to be alongside Munk that smiles so warmly at him.

While he gets to watch it all happen. And see how the tribe forgets he even existed, for this new and "improved" version of him. Quaxo is a beloved cat. Mistoffelees is a monster they all fear.

And even when Tugger tries to sing to him "Oh, well, I never- was there ever. A cat so clever as Magical Mister Mistoffelees?". He doesn't believe it anymore. As much as Tugger adores him in all his creepiness. He thinks he would be far more happy with a mate that doesn't make his brother squirm in fear.

He feels guilty. And lonely. And wishes so hard he never even tried to make a friend.
