Trigun Stampede Reboot Will get Comical Second Trailer

With the latest return of Bleach, together with a latest anniversary video for Naruto, this trailer is coming on the proper time for these wanting again on the anime they grew up on as youngsters. Trigun Stampede will launch on Crunchyroll in January 2023. With new and returning collection within the type of Nier Automata’s adaptation, the second season of Tokyo Revengers, and the fourth season of Bungou Stray Canines, the month is seeking to be a lot crowded for anime followers. Q: "Where's the best place to order from?"

This largely depends on where you live and whether or not you want the wall scroll as a pre-order bonus.

For residents of the US (especially those who would like the wall scroll), it would likely be best to order from GSC US. This is because despite it being a bit more costly, you will be paying domestic shipping rates. For residents in Canada, this may also be a viable option, as GSC US does ship there as well. (Unsure of shipping fee, but very likely cheaper than buying through GSC Global).

For those who live elsewhere outside of China, and want the wall scroll, going through GSC Global is best. You could also proxy from Bilibili or GSCS, but it may not be worth the proxy fees.

For those who do not care about the wall scroll, and wish to save some cash, ordering from AmiAmi is a fair bit cheaper. However do note that some shipping methods are currently restricted, though by the time of the figure's release, may be back to normal. US residents, keep in mind that the cheaper price may be offset in the international shipping fee, as the figure is quite large.

Q: "When will I have to pay? Now or later?"

This also depends.

GSC Global takes credit card only, and AmiAmi will invoice you (multiple payment methods available) once your order is ready to ship. They will charge you at the time of shipping, or just shortly before as they prepare to.

GSC US takes multiple methods, but will charge you immediately if you use Paypal/Amazon Pay. They will charge you at the time of shipping if you use credit card.

Q: "Is this price typical for this type of figure."

Yes, it's quite typical. Of course, final judgement on the worth of this is up to the buyer!

Q: "Why is the figure's release date so far away in 2022?"

This is pretty normal for scale figures. Especially since this is a 1/7th figure, it's a bit more complex. (1/8th scale, smaller, are more common.) It's not abnormal to wait a year for a figure's release, nor for it to be delayed, even. Time frames vary a lot in the scale figure collecting community!

Q: "If I miss the pre-order period will I be able to get it later?"

It's hard to say. Sometimes yes, sometimes it's very difficult. It has to do with how much demand there is post-release relative to stock. Once they make the figures, they will not be made continuously. However many they make initially will be all, apart from an unknown quantity of extras. (This can range from a few hundred to thousands, I have no clue.) But basically, once that stock runs out, it will be out of stock permanently. This can take hours to days to years, who knows. Re-releases also only happen in the event of high demand, and are generally few and far between. So you CAN try to get the figure after release, especially if you're lukewarm about it. But if it's something you really want, it's not worth the gamble, in my opinion.

(The pre-order bonus will be unavailable in this case.)

Your best bet post-release would be AmiAmi and other authorized resellers, if GSC itself doesn't have stock.

Q: "If I want to buy from Bilibili or GSC Shanghai, how would I do that?"

You would need to go through a proxy service like SuperBuy, Bhiner, etc. Just keep in mind that the proxy fee will probably offset the slightly lower price.

Q: "Will there be other versions of Xie Lian?"

Probably, but it's hard to say. Depends on popularity!

Q: "Will there be an accompanying Hua Cheng figure?"

Shinsengumi Members

I have decided to give a description for each Shinsengumi member I've come across. It came out of a desire to not let these members to go down as nameless persons in fandom. Those who have studied the Shinsengumi would surely know the charter members, the commanders, vice-commander and Captains of this police group as they have been a topic of various films, drama, novels, manga, anime etc. They are included here as well, along with those whom most of you haven't heard before.

As some of us know these men did not formally start out as the Shinsengumi nor did they end in that name. Most accept that the Shinsengumi started with a group of men breaking up from the Roshigumi that was ill-formed by Kiyokawa Hachiro. They will not be given the name "Shinsengumi" (Newly Selected Group) and will be known instead as "Miburoshi" (their headquarters was in Mibu village in the Yagi and Maekawa residence) until they have proven themselves worthy enough to be acknowledged by the Kyoto Protector, Matsudaira Katamori, Daimyo of Aizu and be officially sanctioned as a police force for the Bakufu. They will not retain the name however, using instead the Koyou Chibuntai (Pacification Corps) during their decline and inevitable end, at least in history.

...but here at the secret vault of Animation Night Headquarters (not to be confused with my bedroom), our esteemed High Council have, after thorough and deep consideration and extensive prognostications, and dismissal of the scurrilous, nigh counterrevolutionary proposals of a British animation night, ordained the following themes:

Animation Night 23 (15 October): Very Small Animals - there are a million CG animated films about anthropomorphic animals, and many traditional ones as well, but the focus here is on animated films which depict animals living in nature. really, it’s an excuse to show Watership Down. the theme is stretched more than a little by NIMH, but we thought back to back Watership Down + Plague Dogs would be a bit too bleak to spring on everyone without preparation...

Animation Night 24 (22 October): Samurai & Jidaigeki - I’ve wanted to screen Sword of the Stranger for some time, but the question has been what to pair it with; but then I recalled the OVA Afro Samurai, produced with the heavy involvement of Samuel L Jackson, who voices the main character... a project that’s not in the least bit historical, but definitely stylish as hell, and does at least feature samurai. On top of that, I have a couple of lovely jidaigeki-styled fantasy anime TV series, which I’d love to introduce to people!

playlist tbd.; will need to get some input tonight on whether we want genuine horror films (e.g. Seoul Station) or more light-hearted horror-themed spoopiness (e.g. The Nightmare Before Christmas or ParaNorman)

Animation Night 26 (5 November): Nuclear War - this theme we devised today; it’s a heavy one to put it mildly, but one I feel will be a particularly interesting slice of history as reflected in art. The idea is a look at how animated films have dealt with the threat and actuality of nuclear war. The American Duck and Cover, an instructional film produced early in the Cold War describing wildly optimistic way to protect onesself from nuclear weapons, gives us a grimly ironic introduction; then we see Raymond Briggs’s classic film about an old couple who survive the initial attack only to die slowly in the aftermath of a nuclear war. Finally, we can see two anime films about the real Hiroshima bombing, from different eras: the harrowing Barefoot Gen from the 80s, when the Cold War still loomed, and the more hopeful, long-term story In This Corner of the World about survivors of the bombing, which has recently been scooping up awards and should give us a bit of a respite from the bleakness.

the early, gorgeous traditionally-animated films of Dreamworks such as The Prince of Egypt, Spirit and Sinbad... often featuring the animation talents of James Baxter, who’s one of the few living Americans who might get called a sakuga animator

films which blend live footage with traditional animation which means obviously Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and an uncertain second feature...

something about Ralph Bakshi if I can find two films that I’m comfortable showing... Wizards is the obvious one. (let’s just say Ralph Bakshi’s films tended to the extremely edgy even by the standards of what I’ve made you watch so far)

other anime film franchises with interesting entries; Elaine is very keen for us to watch some One Piece films, and Lupin III is a good bet

and of course, returning to some of the themes we’ve covered previously: second rounds for beloved directors like Masaaki Yuasa, Mamoru Hosoda and Satoshi Kon, more French animation (many nights of this lol, and it’s certainly not just Chomet) and Soviet animation (because we certainly haven’t exhausted the archives of Soyuzmutfilm, no way)... and quite possibly another round of web animation (I have at least a few people I’d like to spotlight).

Supplemental Notes on Shinsengumi Organization

On February the Kouyou Chibuntai was formed by the Bakufu with only 20 or so members. I’m really interested in the Kouyou Chibuntai but the only info I see is on Serizawa Kamo’s website. If you or anyone like you know more about the Kouyou Chibuntai aside from what’s on SK-sensei’s site please let me know.

The last two sections on Regimental Soldier which mentions “omission” is still being worked at. However this is quite an interesting structure if you compare it to what we know in fandom. Okita head of the small Artillery? I found Ogata Shuntarou’s footprint very interesting and of course Saitou wasn’t the 3rd Captain early on. Ne? Someone asked me whether Andou was appointed as a first Captain, I couldn’t answer so I looked up the organization, I doubt Andou was a first Captain, however he was certainly a “Fukuchou Jokin” which most of the Captains had as a concurrent title. ^__^

This was taken from “Shinsengumi Thoroughness Guide” which used various source such as “Shinsengumi Otona na Jiten”, “Shinsengumi Taishiden”, “Shinsengumi Nisshi”, Shinsengumi Reader and “Shinsengumi Taishi” and History Reader issue “Ten Shinsengumi Leaders”. Hmmm yeah so I cheat.. But do you really think I could read all those on my own. Heh… As usual my disclaimers apply and feel free to use for whatever purposes as long as you don’t get you nor I in deep kimchi.
