I'm going with another snippet from the @aroyallybigbangrwrb Neighbours AU because it is almost finished so I won't be able to use it for WIP Wednesday much longer!

While Henry was still admiring Alex and his abilities in the kitchen, he quickly swiveled around and placed a full margarita glass, complete with salted rim, directly into Henry’s hand, no questions asked. 

“This will fix all of your woes, trust me,” Alex said, flashing him a brilliant smile. 

“Who said I had woes, exactly? Do I seem like I have woes that need fixing?” Henry retorts, knowing damn well that he does, but trying not to come across completely desperate. “It was really just this bloody broken blender.”

Alex starts flailing his arms, eyes sparkling. “Henry, I’ve already had to come to your rescue on more than one occasion and you haven’t even lived here for a month yet. I’d say you’ve got woes alright!” Henry can't help but notice how beautiful he is when he gets riled up.

Artists may register for more than one project, we just ask that you please fill in the form again for each subsequent project you are willing to take on so our numbers are accurate for pairing purposes.

A Call to Join the Royal Court 📯

A decree to everyone in the kingdom of the Red, White and Royal Blue fandom to join us for A Royally Big Bang -  an event where we welcome all of you, but first:

What is a Big Bang?

A Big Bang is a fandom wide event in which authors and artists are paired up. Authors will write a work within the parameters of the timeline proposed and the Artists will transform said work into a pairing piece of some kind within the timeline as well. The works are then posted together in harmonious union. 

Who can participate?

We invite all authors and artists and betas over 18 to be a part of the festivities. We welcome all forms of transformative work here. As an artist, paired pieces are only limited by your imagination, let it be a podfic, a gifset, a playlist, a moodboard, visual art, etc!

When is this happening?

👑A ROYALLY BIG BANG STARTS RIGHT NOW!!! 👑

AUTHORS: Sign ups for Authors start (today!) February 1st and will close on February 22nd. 

You can sign up in three tiers according to minimum word counts and posting dates. This “Big Bang” has three different tiers (see below) for all authors' creative needs. The bigger the size, the longer the timeframe you have to write.

ARTISTS: Sign up will start on February 23rd and run until March 8th. You will be able to rank your top choices based on summary and tier.  

BETAS: Sign up dates will start on February 23rd and run until March 8th. You will be able to share what you are and aren’t comfortable to beta based on tag restrictions and tier. 

What do tiers mean?

🎂Tier 1 - Mini Bang: 10k+ words. Posts May- June

🎂Tier 2 - Medium Bang: 30k+ words. Posts July - September 

🎂Tier 3 - Big Bang: 50k+ words. Posts October - December 

Works within Tier 1 are expected to be a minimum of 10K words leading up to 30K words. If your work is over 30K words it is within Tier 2, and so on and so forth.

WIP Wednesday!

I've decided to continue from my last WIP Wednesday for @aroyallybigbangrwrb - our sweet neighbour boy Henry having his best mate Pez over for some drinks - and picking up right where I left off with the last line from last week!

Even more importantly, Henry doesn’t feel prepared to share Alex.

Sure, Alex certainly wasn’t his in any way, shape or form, but his sheer existence was still something that Henry wanted to keep just for himself, tucked away and kept safe. Pez meeting Alex would probably result in a hundred questions, more needling and thirsty comments, not to mention the inappropriate jokes. Henry honestly wasn’t prepared for that. And he definitely wasn’t prepared to look too closely at any of it given how fresh everything was.

Seven(ish) sentence/inspiration Sunday

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday!

I'm gearing up to start posting my RBB fic soon, and so it feels like about time to start teasing it. It's a late-Victorian AU, set over a week at a house party at the Duke of Windsor's (aka Philip) house, where a mouthy American meets a blond English aristocrat--and just about everything he thought he knew about himself gets turned upside down.

This is Foxden Park:

“I maintain that you owe me big time for letting you drag me to this.” “No, but you’re my protector,” June says dramatically. “The guardian of my virtue, the keeper of the family’s honour! Without you, how could I ever leave the house safely? How could I be trusted to not ruin myself and drag the whole lot of us into disrepute?” He wiggles his eyebrows at her. Of the two of them, he’s certain she’s the least likely to cause any sort of reputational damage. “Do you know who this Henry is who’s just arrived?” “The younger brother, I think,” June says. “Bea says he’s a delight.” “Oh, great. Is he an earl too? A count? Please tell me he’s not a fucking prince.”

Happy to report that my @aroyallybigbangrwrb Neighbours AU is close to being finished! Here's a snippet with a bit of Henry's backstory:

It had been a hard month and a half, living alone in a new city, in a foreign country. He was still so happy for the distance between Gran and Philip and himself. He finally felt like he was out of their reach, where their old fashioned ideas and ideals could no longer control him. In New York, he was out of harm’s way. 

But he was also thousands of miles from his mum, from Bea, from what he still thought of as home. Deep down in his bones, his perception of home was slowly changing, but he wasn’t quite ready to officially declare it so. He still didn’t feel established quite yet, and his support system still felt an ocean away.

WIP Wednesday

Thank you very kindly for the tags @onthewaytosomewhere, @duchessdepolignaca03, @cha-melodius, @myheartalivewrites and @blueeyedgrlwrites and @suseagull04 from Sunday when it was my birthday and also a big day for my big kiddo so I wasn't online much.

My @aroyallybigbangrwrb fic is coming along now that I've given myself a self-imposed deadline given that I'm the mod in charge of scheduling and yeah...an actual date means I better get moving on this! 😂

Here's more from our sweet neighbour boys, this time with a little Pez thrown in the mix:

Henry would prefer to nip that idea in the bud straight away. He’d had plenty of first hand experience with what Pez could get up to with strangers.  Henry does not need another awkward situation between Pez and someone he has to live near. Moving out isn’t an option either – Henry certainly was not prepared to carry any of those terribly burdensome boxes again any time soon. 

Henry also had no interest in ever introducing Pez to Alex, lest one of those awkward situations happen with him, which would be the absolute worst case scenario. He knew nothing of Alex’s sexuality – which is fair given that they’ve basically just met – but Pez tended to have a strange, almost magical seductive effect on pretty much everyone he encountered. 

Henry was thoroughly immune. They’ve been best mates basically forever. 

Even more importantly, Henry doesn’t feel prepared to share Alex.

Six Sentence Sunday!!!

I've been making some good progress on my @aroyallybigbangrwrb work this week since my deadline feels fast approaching! Here's another snippet of my sweet neighbour boys!

Henry marvels watching Alex mess with the radiator after running to his apartment and back again, barely breaking a sweat, despite returning with an entire full toolbox. He imagines it must be heavy, despite Alex strolling in swinging it by his side, making it seem effortless. 

From the toolbox, Alex pulls out a whole bunch of items, some of which Henry is familiar with (okay, hammer, wrench, pliers, screwdriver…) and all sorts of strange looking things he’s absolutely never seen before and has no clue what they would be used for. 

While Henry’s trying to work out in his mind what that odd-looking metal device in Alex’s hands might be, he starts screaming all sorts of things, mostly directed towards the radiator. A “Fuck!” or five, a “Piece of shit radiator!” and a  “Jesus tits, how did they make these fucking apartments so poorly!?”  thrown in for good measure. 

After all the cursing, Alex somehow does fix the radiator.

So I normally don't do this, but I think it's one of the days people share stuff so I thought I'd give it a go.

Sharing a snippet of my @aroyallybigbangrwrb fic…is this dumb? Hopefully not. 😂

"The day Henry moved into his new flat was truly a most excellent day. It was springtime in New York; the sun was actually shining, flowers were fragrantly blooming at the park nearby and today was the day he would begin his new life. Henry was finally getting the opportunity to establish himself in his own place, in a city he was ready to call his own, far away from his meddling family. An entire ocean between them felt like almost enough to feel comfortable living life the way he had wanted.

That was also the day that he first met his neighbour, Alex.

Alex was drop-dead gorgeous, with big, brown eyes and soft, fluffy dark curls sitting atop his head. He also had a body that completely stopped Henry in his tracks, even though he was simultaneously carrying an extremely heavy box of books. Henry could make out the hard lines of his abs below his tight black t-shirt. He stared at Alex for a few more seconds than was typically polite and while his biceps were absolutely burning from the weight of the box in his arms, he did not care one bit. Despite the fact that his mouth was occupied with trying to keep from almost drooling, he tried his best to give the stranger a kind (and hopefully not creepy) smile.

Alex gave a friendly wave in return as he walked down the hall, approaching Henry and his large stack of packing boxes. “Hey there, new neighbour!”

In which my influences show, Henry apologises, and Alex makes an ass of himself. But in an endearing sort of way. Featuring a posh picnic, Alex being a public hazard while playing croquet and the return of the peacock.
