So since I haven't been writing my Big Bang, you may be wondering what I've been up to. It's not the Big Giant AU, either -- nope, it's a brand new AU that I don't want to share too many plot details about, but suffice it to say it'll be full of all my old standards: angst, smut, schmoop, etc. Today, I bring you a snippet of a little conversation that Alex and Henry are having on what may or may not be a date, depending on whose perspective you're considering.

“You’re a duke?” Alex asks. “I honestly had no idea.” Frankly, Henry would’ve preferred to keep it that way. “You mean you don’t stalk my Wikipedia entry regularly?” Henry jokes. “Probably for the best. You only get the official facts there and none of the interesting ones. This is an official fact, though; Grandpa bestowed the title unto me when I turned twenty-five in March.” “Now I want an interesting fact,” Alex declares. “I fenced competitively until I was nineteen,” Henry replies instantly. “I was bloody good at it, too. Probably would’ve had an Olympic run like my cousin Anne had with her equestrian competitions. But then there was a minor incident where a foil tip was improperly attached, and I wound up very slightly stabbed—” Flatly, Alex interjects, “You what.” “Very slightly,” Henry emphasizes. “Didn’t even leave a scar, but my dad nearly had a heart attack when he found out, and that was the end of my fencing career.”

“You’re wearing Levi’s.” Alex said, frozen in place and very much not tuned into what Henry had just been saying. Alex was never frozen, Alex never stopped moving, but now he was as still as a statue and staring at Henry with wide and focused eyes. He clears his throat, a blush forming on his cheeks. “I am. Is that, am I. . . do they look that ridiculous.” he sighs and leans against the bar. “I have had so many sex dreams like this.” OR Henry throws Alex a Texas themed surprise party for his birthday and when Henry dresses. . . accordingly, Alex has lots of feelings about it (unashamed birthday sex Beyonce-inspired fic)

WIP Wednesday, April 24, 2024

We're going back to another fic I haven't added words to in a hot second because I've been working on my RBB fic, but (lay me down), give me something to feel just means too much to me to let it go neglected for long.

The corners of Henry’s mouth tip up into a small smile. He goes back inside for a moment, grabs a blanket, and spreads it out on the grass when he returns. He sits and stretches his legs out in front of him as he leans back on his hands. Alex joins him, settling in beside him, but opting to lay back with his hands under his head. Henry can feel Alex’s eyes on his back and he finds the attentiveness of Alex’s gaze doesn’t make him uncomfortable the way the way the masses gawking at him does. He tips his head up, his eyes immediately finding Orion again, and inhales slowly. He looks at Alex over his shoulder, sees the way he looks so relaxed and comfortable, knows how easy it is for Alex to go through the world. Henry may not be able to have that every day, but he does get to have it here so he lets himself lay down next to Alex, hands coming to rest on his belly.
