It took me a year or two but I finally got a brand new shiny cover for Beanstalked!

I am so much happier with the vibes of this cover and I feel like it fits the themes and characters of the comic so much more compared to the previous more serious versions.

Content warning for an abusive husband and father in this issue. 

In case it’s not 100% clear somehow, Pinepaw is NOT narrating this issue - Cormorantpaw is the narrator! Pinepaw is still going to be the POV character for almost the entire story, but every once in awhile there will be another narrator for an issue, which will always be marked with their name on the first page. 

Lot of lore in this issue! I’m glad to finally be able to give a look into Cormorantpaw’s history, although this is not nearly the full story of what happened and what led him and Egret to end up in BarrenClan territory. Still, it’s nice to be able to reveal the members of his family and their appearances. 

The “corpse” that Thrasher brings to the den, as well as the one that Cormorantpaw has killed in the last page, are both least weasels.

Saved the best for last =) Last comic of my LA Trip and the highlight of my trip was meeting Baymax! I waited 9 years (since seeing Big Hero 6) to hug one in real life. It was definitely worth it. Baymax was also the reason why I studied computer science but that might be a story for another time haha. Comics will now be back on a regular schedule every Friday morning! Thanks for reading <3

Issue #5: “Smoke and Ash and Fire and Salt and Blood”

Uh oh! Pinepaw has overheard some spoiler-free backstory dialogue?... very exciting for me to start getting into Cormorant and Egret’s home group, even if it’s only a little taste. 

The title of this issue went through a lot of iterations before I landed on this one.

Ah, I finally get to reveal the name of Cormorantpaw’s father! His name is Thrasher (it’s a species of bird). We’ll learn more abut Thrasher soon enough. 

Not much more I can say about this one without commenting on future plots. I like Egrettail! She is wonderful and mysterious and sad.
