There’s so many things to say, and so many to not. Daily updates of more and more horrific events taking place, daily protests feeling like we’re getting no where, an intense loss of hope. Coming to more and more realizations of history repeating itself and knowing there’s only one way to end this for good but no one can say that out loud without fear of being attacked or arrested for it. Knowing the end goal of this and what’s gonna happen to Palestinians that do survive it. Continuously being on Congress and the world leaders and still seemingly getting no where despite it being an election year. More and more fear mongering and propaganda spreading misinformation and pitting people that don’t know any better against each other. Seeing less and less updates from journalists because they’re either not on this earth anymore or have given up hope. The people saying ‘oh the Hamas could end this’ there have been multiple attempts at a ceasefire, the Israeli government has denied all of them and broke a temporary one. When a government is hell bent on destroying a place there’s not a damn thing the civilians can do, Palestine doesn’t have a government. Any government that steps in on behalf of Gaza risks an all out war with the opposing side. No one wants to talk about it no more, seeing and sharing posts that would and have made people throw up and have nightmares. The world continuing as if nothings wrong because unfortunately life goes on, nature finds a balance. People acting like this is some holy mission, when it’s not, it’s not religion vs religion like propaganda has made it seem. For reference there’s still people alive today that were apart of ww2, so no it wasn’t that long ago. What we’re seeing in the Middle East is the trail of tears and the holocaust all over again. Government doesn’t seem to remember history but then again cut one head off a million more grow in its place. There’s nothing more to say that hasn’t been said, keep fighting for change, history is not erasing this like it has with so many other things.

Ahmed Saad or @/90-ghost's brother in law is currently doing his best to organise the evacuation of his family from Gaza. This family suffers from a combination of ailments that all require medical attention. This is the description on their GFM page:

Hello, I hope you all are doing well!

My name is Mohamed Monir Ahmad Mahmoud, I’m a hemophilia patient from Gaza. I decided to start this campaign with all the hope that you could support me in evacuating Gaza to do surgery for me and my daughter and start a fresh life with my 5 kids out of the ongoing genocide in Gaza [...] I was supposed to go out at the end of 2023 to have surgery on my knees but since 7 October, I had no chance due to the procedures on Rafah crossing, the gate of Gazans to the world. Now, my knees and elbows are bleeding with no access to any type of care and if things stand as they are in Gaza, I won’t be able to walk or make any effort because of the bleeding (currently I am barely able to set up a small fire in front of the tent to prepare food for my kids).

What I ask is 60,000, for travel costs because each one would need to pay 5,000-8,000$ to be allowed to leave Gaza through Rafah crossing and we need around 3000$ more in Egypt for our stay and to obtain visas. We will be heading to Brazil where my brother Diaa lives and there is a huge chance to do the surgeries and access health care as the health care for Hemophilia patients in Brazil is one of the most advanced in the world.

this day (march 16th) 21 years ago (2003), american activist rachel corrie was crushed to death by an israeli bulldozer while she protested the demolition of palestinian homes in rafah. she was 24. this april, she would have turned 45.

Sandra Jordan wrote in The Observer that because Corrie was American her death attracted more attention than the deaths of Palestinians under similar circumstances: "On the night of Corrie's death, nine Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip, among them a four-year-old girl and a man aged 90. A total of 220 people have died in Rafah since the beginning of the intifada. Palestinians know the death of one American receives more attention than the killing of hundreds of Muslims." while we honor corrie's sacrifice, we must remember what she fought for. you can read her emails from rafah about her experiences in palestine at the rachel corrie foundation for peace and justice, organized by her parents cindy and craig who continue her work.

All within a few hours, the 3 largest hospitals and medical facilities in Gaza have been targeted, leaving dozens killed and hundreds more injured.

The Indonesian Hospital was bombed, and today they will run out of fuel.

There was an Israeli air strike on al-Quds hospital.

The entrance to al-Shifa hospital was bombed, which is where over 60,000 injured and civilians are seeking refuge.

A group of ambulances in Gaza were bombed while evacuating injured patients from al-Shifa hospital to the Rafah border to get proper medical attention.

The state of affairs in Palestine, 10/23/23

Conditions on the ground in Gaza continue to deteriorate. Gaza has no fuel, electricity, or clean water, and it remains under constant bombardment.

Humanitarian aid is beginning to make its way through the Rafah border crossing (Gaza's border with Egypt) but the current quantity is completely insufficient. There have been two convoys. The first convoy of 20 trucks contained enough water for 22,000 people, or ~1% of Gaza's population, for a single day. It's unclear what was in the second convoy, but it only had 17 trucks.

Israel continues to gear up for a ground invasion of Gaza. It's unclear what exactly they will do or what the end result will be, to the point that the US is calling on Israel to publicize its goals.

In the meantime, Israel has aggressively increased its air bombardment of Gaza. [CW for the header image on the red link: wounded young girl] This, along with the lack of fuel and supplies, is causing the complete collapse of the Gaza hospital system.

There is a very real risk of further escalation of the war. Israel has repeatedly raided and airstriked the West Bank and targets in Syria, continuously exchanged volleys with Hezbollah on the Israeli border with Lebanon, and hit the Egyptian border (allegedly by accident).

Protests around the world are rallying to bring attention and support to the Palestinian cause.

Ghoson, a resilient and determined individual, has endured the horrors of war, but the ongoing conflict in Gaza has presented him with challenges that surpass anything he has faced before. Following the destruction of our family home and neighborhood, my father sought refuge in an UNRWA clinic. Tragically, he was injured in an airstrike, sustaining severe wounds from shrapnel in his arm and foot. The shrapnel remains lodged in his body, causing excruciating pain and complications, further exacerbated by his diabetes and high blood pressure.

Here is a glimpse of my father's dire situation:

I don't want to add it to the post (bc I don't want to get into it with assholes) but! I'm literally Japanese-American, and I would say that Hiroshima and Nagasaki are similar to Gaza and Rafah not just in the amount of firepower directed at them but in that they're both CIVILIAN POPULATIONS. it's not about the nuclear weapons (reading comprehension website.jpeg) it's about the inhumanity of the collective punishment in service of US interests. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were not individual or unique events -- look at Laos, look at Cambodia, look at Vietnam and Korea and what the States did there!! it doesn't "lessen" the horror or tragedy at all to compare them to Palestine now, especially if that comparison will help to stop it. I need white ppl to shut the fuck up about Japan permanently I stg anyways sorry people are being weird and fuckshit about this.

I think people are stuck on the differences and not willing to look at similarities when it comes to Gaza. Like when we compare its not in an effort to dismiss the differences and "triviliaze" (hate when they say that) but to show "Hey remember when something really bad happened back then? And everyone today is like I can't believe that happened? You can stop something like that from happening today by helping here" which people are allergic to doing for Palestine because they're so caught up in the minutae that they can't see the big picture. I've seen descendants of survivors of Vietnam say this is exactly what happened to them. I've seen Bosnian Genocide survivors say the gaslighting is similar to what they experienced. Holocaust survivors and their descendents! Even Hiroshima in the modern day is drawing parallels! We need to make comparisons to examine similarities and contextualize events in history. Why else learn world history if not to understand the patterns of operation in the modern day? You have beliefs surrounding certain atrocities, things like "I won't let that happen again" or "I would fight that" and that's why people are drawing parallels. To make people take action.

And this isn't limited to just Gaza, people do the same with Sudan and DRCongo. And people who do it for sudan even claim to support Palestine! Even though Gazans are asking people to pay attention to Sudan because they see themselves in their struggle! No one is paying attention to the main idea "stop this before it gets worse"!!!! It's already so bad for all these places and that damage is irreversible in that people live with it for the rest of their lives but yes! We can stop it before a complete erasure happens! It's possible! These comparisons are necessary and important!
