I do wonder what Gieve is feeling, because he's both a cynic (outside) and a secret romantic (deep down) so I guess this is his cynic side speaking— he himself reveres a deity (Ashi, goddess of fortune) but he... doesn't seem to like abiding by divine command all that much. He does what he wants when he wants, the gods are in a similar category as royalty. Just like Ashi is the only deity he invokes, Arslan is the only royal he trusts and follows.

I was harsh on Mahendra before but man he cares he cares so fucking much and he'd follow his prince into disgrace if need be and it's just. Ugh.

Fuck Gadhevi for murdering him.

Rajendra probably wanted Gadhevi to go down on the spot and if their father hadn't stood to intervene he could've put pressure on Mahendra or smth and still got Gadhevi dead or arrested but he can't go against his father. At least that's what I think is happening here.

Rare to see Farangis so pissed off!! I understand, Gadhevi is infuriating as fuck.

No matter how many times I reread the manga this scene is just something I will never not adore. Who am I? Who is my father? Who am I? Answer me. Don't go. Answer me. Please don't leave me behind. Who am I, who am I, who am I? There's no sound effects or clamor drowning out the dialogue but you feel it all the same, Gadhevi and some others running, chasing, proclaiming I am a king! I am the king! and just... You can just imagine the dramatic music playing over this, or at least I can.

I don't remember how this part in the anime went but I'm in love with this. Can you hear it too? The music.

I do wonder about Bahadur's backstory (Baha-ckstory?) because how did he become like this, he was in chains when he was led into the arena, was he imprisoned? What happened? I can't help but be curious.

Trying to understand Rajendra once again. He probably wants Gadhevi out of the picture, remove him as a competitor, and while he uses words like law and justice to justify it to their father... Maybe he does end up convincing himself to believe it too, lol.

And Karikala... He... probably still wants, deep down, for the brothers to reconcile. He's probably always wanted that but he failed to steer them in a way that they wouldn't end up hostile to each other. He loves both of his sons from what I've seen, and he can't just pick one over the other.

That inability to choose, perhaps, was part of why things escalated the way it did. Or maybe he was the only one trying to get them to get along with each other.

In any case though, he failed.
