#because the 'point' was for imogen to give in and she didn't get there soon enough

i gotta ramble
right now i’m kinda concluding that somehow, imogen going super saiyan here is going to revive her downed party members or otherwise undo the events of this combat
because on one hand, yeah if the players make poor choices or just get unlucky then all is fair, if they die then they die and that’s just how it is, but like i dont think they made bad choices, for the most part? they decided, pretty much as soon as they could, that they needed to run from the encounter. that otohan was too powerful and they should not stay and try to beat her. but then running just didn’t work, because between otohan’s legendary actions and her echoes, she was chasing each one of them down in turn and basically downing them once per round.
and the party didnt even go into the fight hurt or tired, really. they had plenty of spells and HP. so they wasted a bunch of time trying to run, which was futile, and then by the time things got real, they hadn’t dropped her low enough to actually get that close to beating her.
and THEN when laudna reached out to otohan about the moon crown thing, and rolled a really good persuasion, it seemed to convince otohan, but then laudna said something slightly wrong i guess, and otohan went and killed fearne anyway. like that high roll didn’t matter. (also like the fact that she saw imogen’s memories about the device didn’t matter.)
so then i’m like, okay this whole encounter hinged on imogen, from the beginning. fair enough. so otohan spends a big portion of the encounter telling imogen to give in to the storm, and it’s like... ANYONE in that position (unless they were playing an evil character or something) would naturally, instinctively, choose to resist. that’s what imogen has been doing this whole time-- running from the moon shit because it’s scary and possibly evil and she doesn’t want to hurt people. to give in, at this point especially considering otohan has only been hurting the party, would appear to be siding with the enemy. turning on your friends. or like, taking a big risk or sacrifice that might not be worth it. and really i dont think imogen knew what giving in would even mean? she didn’t know otohan’s intentions or what would happen if she gave in.
so obviously she kept fighting it. yeah she was rolling wisdom saves, but there’s always a chance she passes those, so if matt intended for imogen to like, auto-fail them to suit the narrative, he wouldn’t have asked her to make those rolls, or she would’ve had disadvantage on all of them. if you compare this episode to the episode where yasha gets taken over by obann, it feels a lot more... loose. i dont remember if yasha still made a roll to save against obann’s mind control, but either way ashley wasn’t going to be at the table for months. this was a much more winding path to get laura to say the magic words.
and after a while, with actual death occurring twice, it kinda felt like there was only one correct choice? or the bells hells just needed to be going full aggro AND rolling really well AND otohan had to be rolling like shit (did she ever make an attack roll under 20? if she did it wasn’t very often).
because when your choices boil down to: 1) you give in to the storm like the legendary NPC says or 2) you keep fighting a losing battle and watch all your friends die because you won’t comply with the legendary NPC...
you’re not actually forced to choose the former... but you would be really fucking inclined to, right?
but i don’t believe matt would railroad them this hard (certainly not on purpose), and i don’t believe he is the type of DM to punish them for making the “wrong” choice by killing the PCs. so in short lmao i guess i’m assuming (hoping) that somehow this ruidus thing imogen is doing can bring back the dead or rewind time or something because ngl i’m gonna be a bit frustrated if we permanently lose fearne and/or orym because of these shenanigans

Imogen Heaney Headcanons 🎵🍂
I love her SO MUCH oh my god.
I have so many ideas for her (some that probably don't make sense unless you listen to my hour-long explanations on them), but here are some in particular that have been on my mind lately.
1: AUTISTIC. IMOGEN. Imogen is autistic and deals with sensory issues a lot, especially auditory. Since she feels so out of place most of the time, she likes when she can control what's around her- making lists, keeping her room organized (almost concerningly at times- something Charlie notices when he goes over to Imogen's for the first time because Charlie himself is so used to feeling the need to control whatever physical aspects of his life/himself he can), having soft, warm lights and her favorite stuffed animals everywhere, as well as posters, fidgets and comfort objects, ect. However, as she gets older people in her and Nick's 'popular' friend group begin to make fun of her for her autism more and more- causing her to change her room quite a bit. When Ben came over for the first time after they got together, the first thing he did was point out how 'babyish' her rainbow lava lamp was- she got rid of it two days later, even though it was one of the few things left in her room at that point that made her feel like herself.
She also does her best to fit in with the popular girls, masking her autism pretty heavily and well- most of the time. There are some slips and cracks that leave her confused when she can't understand the looks people give her, why she can't seem to stop saying the 'wrong' thing no matter how hard she tries. (See: The canteen scene in S1 EP4. She doesn't get why Tara and Darcy are upset- she'd just said the 'right' thing, hadn't she? And in her mind, she liked Nick, he liked her... at least, that's what seemed right. It's what everyone told her, and she was so scared at the thought of what would happen if she disagreed that she forced herself to believe it.) Most of the time when she gets home from a night out with the popular girls, she's overstimulated and miserable- she lets herself have a good cry for a few minutes in her closet, hugging the stuffed bear Sahar gave her when she was little (Imogen refused to get rid of it but hid it deep in her closet). But as soon as she's done crying, she hides the stuffed animal again and leaves the closet, cleaning off any tears left behind.
As kind and understanding Nick always has been and always will be about her autism, Imogen hides more and more about it from him as they get older. She doesn't mean to; she just doesn't want to burden the one person who never hated her.
(I could do so many entire posts about my autistic Imogen headcanons, tbh.)
2: She's not as big of a fan of physical touch as people assume she is. Because she's a very loving and energetic person, people (especially some of the not-so-nice lads) assume she's okay with physical touch all the time- arms around/by her waist or stomach. It makes her really uncomfortable sometimes, especially when she's overstimulated. However, because she doesn't want to upset anyone or come off as too 'weird', it's pretty rare she says anything about it. Nick, however, will notice quickly and do his best to get her out of those situations.
3: She calls Nick 'Nicholas' because it's one of the first words she was able to properly say. Imogen's dad (James Heaney*) is deaf, so until she started school, she mostly grew up using sign language and not her actual voice. Her parents never discouraged her from verbal communication, but she resorted to sign language more due to hating how loud everyone seemed to be all the time when she was little- she didn't want to add to that noise if she could help it. She and Nick have been best friends since they were babies because their mums were best friends, so Nick therefore knows some sign, too, which he learned from Imogen's dad. One of the first words Imogen learned how to properly say was 'Nicholas' so she could talk to him before he knew any sign. Even after that, it stuck.
(*Unrelated to James McEwan.)
Nick never treated Imogen any different for not talking much, so Imogen didn't really realize it was different until she started school and people started making fun of her voice. Because she never used it much, it sounded 'weird' to a lot of people. Nick was and always has been extremely protective of Imogen and would get really angry whenever someone made fun of her, especially for her voice. (This is part of the reason everyone started to assume they liked each other- because of course, a little girl and boy can't just have a normal best friend relationship when they grow up, too, right?)
However, even though Nick always told Imogen there was nothing wrong with her voice, she grew extremely insecure about it and began forcing it to be different- practicing obsessively to make sure her vowels didn't drag too much, that her voice wasn't too deep or slow. Because of this, she developed the 'popular girl voice' we hear her use in the show quite often. (See: S1 EP2 - Picnic Tables, S1 EP4- Canteen, S1 EP4- Feild, S2 EP4- Talking to Ben about Paris.) It turns into a defense/coping mechanism- when she's anxious she quickly puts up that wall, 'one less thing she can be made fun of for'.
However, there are times when in raw, unfiltered emotion her real voice comes through. Sometimes by accident (See: S2 EP4, Restaurant Breakup) or when she's truly relaxed towards those around her and feels safe enough to use her real voice. (See: S1 EP5, Park Bench + S2 EP7, Art Exhibition)
As Imogen becomes closer with the Paris Squad and with Sahar again, her natural voice begins to come through more and more :)
No matter what, though, Imogen forever feels guilty for feeling bad about her voice- she has no problem with her dad's voice, why on earth should she have a problem with her own? Or even care what people think?
4: Somewhat building off #1 and #3, Imogen goes nonverbal sometimes, or choses it as a coping mechanism. Most of the time it happens when she's extremely overstimulated or depressed, which unfortunately happens more than it should. She wants to talk to her dad about new medication but is too afraid of burdening him any further. Plus, medicine is expensive. So, she bottles it up as much as she can. But some days it all hits her at once and talking is just too much, too scary. Nick and Sahar were essentially the only people outside her family (until the Paris Squad) that Imogen felt safe being open with about these things, and they are both extremely patient with her about it.
(One day in Paris Sahar saw Imogen get overstimulated so they went to sit alone for a bit together. It didn't really matter to either of them that that trip was the first time they'd seen each other in almost a year, they just sat there quietly until Imogen felt better, and Sahar held her hand. Something in Imogen's heart melted completely at that.)
5: She and Nick have a sibling relationship and look after each other extremely carefully. They always care for one another, and fight sometimes, but not often. (This is part of why the fight over the Ben thing was so hard for both of them.)
Because Nick and Imogen are so close, Imogen is one of the first and few people to notice + know about Nick's anxiety. Over time she learns how to help him through panic attacks and flare ups just as he learns to help her destress when she's overstimulated. Imogen is very quick to notice when Nick's anxiety is getting bad, especially when he has a panic attack coming on. (See: S2 EP3 Nick's bonfire panic attack/anxiety flare-up)
Imogen and Nick used to do sleepovers all the time as little kids, but as they got older it was considered too 'weird'. However, when Charlie was in the mental hospital, Nick had some pretty bad panic attacks at night, so Imogen slept over in David's old room to keep an eye on him whenever Sarah had night shifts. Imogen was hesitant to do so at first, not wanting to give Charlie the wrong idea, but Charlie promised it was okay- he encouraged it, grateful to Imogen for keeping an eye on Nick.
After this, sleepovers with Nick, Charlie and Imogen all together became pretty normal when Charlie got home. (I love them as a trio so much. You can pry their bond from my cold dead hands.)
Nick and Imogen worry about one another a lot, especially about their mental health. Imogen often deflects to avoid Nick worrying about her by making sure he's alright first. Nick, meanwhile, will do his best to say he's fine, not wanting to 'drag' anyone else into his anxiety, but will then feel extremely guilty for lying to her.
They're both people who try and keep it all bottled up so it can't poison anyone else, and this is why they can understand each other so well.
6: Lesbian Imogen. You don't have to agree whatsoever. I honestly love all the different interpretations of where she could fall under the sapphic umbrella, and people are so creative with their ideas for it. However, Imogen being lesbian makes the most sense to me. Her 'crushes' on guys were the most comphet things I've ever seen, especially with Nick. To me, she is lesbian. But she doesn't have to be to you. :)
(There are so many great posts about this in particular that go into depth about Imogen having comphet, I totally recommend looking them up.)
7: She has body issues. Imogen wears long sleeves often, not feeling comfortable with her arms or thighs exposed. She's done pageants since she was little, and while they're so much fun and she does amazing, the diet culture and people there really affected her.
This worried Sahar a lot when they were around 14 and Imogen started to eat less and less, causing an argument between them over whether pageants were good for Imogen to keep doing or not; whether they were good for anyone to do.
They made up, but Sahar never stopped truly noticing how those pageants were draining Imogen. It was one of the underlying things that led to their eventual friendship breakup in year 10 when Imogen got her first boyfriend and didn't know who she was anymore, just knew that she wanted to feel pretty and normal for once.
Imogen always knew deep down somewhere Sahar was right but forced herself to keep doing pageants anyway. Imogen originally began doing pageants as a little kid for her mum (Isabella Heaney) and didn't want to let her down.
(Another idea that deserves its own post, honestly.)
When her eating spiraled out of control, all she could think about was how much she hated her body. It was weird, it was all wrong and too big or too little in all the wrong places. There was so much pain, and she didn't know what to do with it. In the end, it left her with scars on her inner thighs and the underside of her left arm. Because of this, she's one of the first people to notice when Charlie begins struggling with the same thing.
These are just some of my MANY headcanons for her, lmk if you’d want to hear any more :)

If you’re still taking baby prompts, Susie’s and or Lenny’s thoughts about “I love it when they’re fresh out of the draw” convo with Imogene.
"You know what goes in drawers?" Lenny mutters as he opens it up, revealing his newborn daughter. "Underpants."
Midge laughs tiredly and gazes down at Lily adoringly. "This way she gets to be right here, close to us."
"I suppose it could be worse," Lenny muses as he lifts the infant into his arms and sits on the edge of Midge's bed. "It could be a trash chute."
"A mailbox," Midge offers.
"See, that would fit the whole stork thing," Lenny points out, letting Lily grip onto his finger with her tiny hand.
Midge smiles, settling back against her pillows and smiling as she watches them.
Lenny sighs softly. "I cannot believe we're doing this again."
"Well, it's too late to turn back now," Midge reminds him. "The baby has breached the vagina. Can't stuff her back in now."
"You are so lucky your mother isn't around to hear that joke," Lenny comments with a laugh.
"She will be soon enough," Midge says. "Inspecting Lily's forehead and how far apart her eyes are."
Lenny frowns deeply as he gazes at their daughter. "She's perfect. She's got a great forehead. Eyes seem fine."
"She though Esther wouldn't be a pretty girl."
"Esther's beautiful, how much drugs was your mother taking?"
"A lot of Seconal back then," Midge admits.
"That explains everything."
Midge holds out her arms. "Give her. Snack time."
Lenny nods and shifts Lily over, but doesn't move otherwise as Midge adjusts to start nursing.
"This isn't weird for you?" Midge asks.
"What?" Lenny asks.
"My tits being used for something other than fun bedroom activities."
He gives her a confused look. "You're literally using them for their intended purpose. The fun bedroom stuff is an added bonus."
Midge considers, but doesn't respond.
Lenny lays back carefully on her legs and looks up at the ceiling. "So no. It's not weird that you're feeding our child. Jesus, maybe it's finally time that I punched Joel in his fucking face."
"No saying fucking in front of the baby."
"You did it."
"Okay, that's fair."
"Our other three kids know how to curse," Lenny points out. "Lily would feel left out if she didn't get an early start."
"One of these days, Ethan is going to call a his teacher a cocksucker, and then we're going to have to explain where he heard that."
"We'll blame Mei."
"Good plan."
Lenny turns his hand and gazes at his wife and daughter. "Hey."
Midge shifts Lily to burp her gently over her shoulder, using a little washcloth to catch any spit up. "Yeah?"
"I'm really happy," he says softly.
She smiles as Lily spits up a load of milk onto the washcloth. "I'm glad, because the amount of disgusting bodily fluids we have to deal with just went from a very low number to a very high number."
"I can't wait."

Okay so I kinda sort of lied. I got one more Bells Hells flower analysis, but really just adding on to one. I decided to give Laudna one more flower. This is because of what Orym said about her: "A bloom of goodness that has grown from darkness, and deserves to be nourished." SO I got inspired, with that and the validation I got for one of Chetneys and Ashtons, and I looked into flowers that bloom at night, and while it's probably a cliche given that I used Sunflowers first, but I'm going to go with Moonflowers as another flower for Laudna. Here's a link to the sunflower analysis.
Moonflowers are a flower that bloom at night. A beautiful bloom that grows and opens at night, and pollinated by night creatures such as moths and bats.
This unique ability to bloom at night led to Moonflowers being seen as Uplifting, they are also seen a symbol of Elegance.
Laudna's an oddly uplifting character, looking at her death and general existence with a glass half full personality. She seems to want to bring the people around her some of that joy as well. Now elegance may seem an odd choice, but elegance does mean ' pleasingly ingenious and simple'. Laudna is simple, not in a bad way of course!, but more along the lines of currently she's easy enough to read and straightforward. I hope that makes sense. And admittedly, begrudgingly, Delilah's use of Laudna is ingenious, even if it's not pleasing.
Moonflowers are also associated with Mystery and Dreaming of Love.
Laudna's entire existence, up until this recent point or soon to be points at least, is a mystery in how she works physically. Now the whole Delilah situation is getting brought more forward and we learn/uncover some of this mystery. Dreaming of love is perhaps more of, let's say, wishful thinking, but Laudna did try to help Imogen with her dreams. And while Imogen didn't see Laudna, she feels something there after Laudna passed. When the others were getting memories of their pasts, Laudna remembered her family which could be dreaming of love as well.
Sun and moon symbolism is usually split between more than one person, but I think Laudna embodies both fairly well.
So now I'm done with the main party of the Bells. If anyone would like to see Dorian, or maybe other characters, I'd love to know! I'd also like to know if the you would like to see the banners or like individual pictures of the flowers. Or any suggestion really. I want to make these as enjoyable to whomever is enjoying them.

Duke Reviews Xtra: Alice In Wonderland (1985) Part 1
Hello, I'm Andrew Leduc And Welcome To Duke Reviews Xtra As We Continue Our Look At The Movies Of Disney...
youtube
And On The Next 3 Shows We'll Be Looking At 2 Of My Favorite Adaptations Of The Alice In Wonderland Story, Starting With The 1985 Version Which Was Made By Irwin Allen, Who Created Both Land Of The Giants And Of Course, Lost In Space...
Let's Start With Part 1...
The Movie Starts With Alice (Played By Jenny From Oliver And Company) Helping Her Mother Set The Table For Tea Time, But Despite Asking Her Mother If She Could Join Them For Tea, She Unfortunately Tells Alice No...
This Leads Alice To Go Outside And Talk With Her Sister (Who Is Actually Played By The Actress Plays Alice's Real Life Sister)..
Tumblr media
I Know, This Is My 2nd Favorite Version Of The Tale And Even I Didn't Know That...
But Gets Bored Reading A Book With No Pictures, Which Leads Her Sister To Tell Her That Understand More When She Grows Up, Despite Alice Thinking She's Already Grown Up As She's Seven And A Half...
Playing With Her Cat, Dinah, Alice Spots The White Rabbit (Played By Hoagie From Pete's Dragon) And Follows Him To A Rabbit Hole That She Falls Down...
Tumblr media
Ok, She Doesn't Fall Like That, But Close Enough..
Eventually Landing, Alice Follows The Rabbit To A Door Which Opens To Another Door And Another And Another Until It Finally Opens To A Hall Of Doors Which Leads To The Scene We All Know...
With Alice Finding A Tiny Door She's Too Big For So She Drinks A Bottle Marked Drink Me Which Her Shrink But She Leaves The Key On The Table Which Leads To Her Eating A Cake Marked Eat Me Which Causes Her To Grow Too Big So She Starts To Cry...
But Unlike The Animated Version, The White Rabbit Appears As She Cries And Accidentally Scares Him Into Dropping His Fan And Gloves Which She Uses To Shrink Again To A Size Small Enough To Fit Through A Crack That Leads Her Outside Into A River Of Her Own Tears...
While Swimming, Alice Briefly Meets The Dodo Bird (Played By Mrs. Gogan From Pete's Dragon) The Lory Bird (Played By Cosmo Brown From Singin' In The Rain) And The Mouse (Played By Mr. Jefferson) Who Takes Us Into Our First Song As He Tells Alice Why He Hates Dogs And Cats...
youtube
Leaving Shortly After That Song, Alice Catches Up With The White Rabbit Only To Lead Us To The Scene Where He Mistakes Her For His Housemaid And Sends Her Off To His House To Get A New Fan And Glove Set For Him...
Only To Find Another Bottle Marked Drink Me Which Causes Her To Grow Once Again...
But Unlike The Animated Version, The Dodo Doesn't Show Up, But Instead The Rabbit's Butler Named Pat The Pig (Played By Donald Trump's Number One Supporter, Scott Baio, Who I Think Fits The Role Perfectly With His New Status) Shows Up..
As We Get The Scene With Bill The Lizard Who Goes To Pull Alice Out Of The Chimney Only To Get Kicked Out Of The Chimney By Alice...
This Leads To Pat And The Rabbit To Throw Berries That Turn Into Cakes That Allow Alice To Shrink To Normal Size Again As She Gets Away From The Rabbit And Pat Who Are Still Throwing Berries At Her..
Eventually Losing Them, Alice Soon Meets The Caterpillar (Played By The Candy Man Himself, Sammy Davis Jr.) Who Takes Us Into Our Next Song Called You Are Old Father William...
youtube
But Like The Animated Version, Alice Insults The Caterpillar By Saying That 3 Inches High Is Such A Wretched Height And He Disappears Instead Of Becoming A Butterfly...
Walking Toward A House That Is Visited By A Delivery Man For The Queen Of Hearts Who Gives A Frog Footmen With A Familiar Voice An Invitation From The Queen For The Duchess (Who We'll Meet In A Few Minutes) To Play Croquet...
And By Familiar Voice I Think You May Recognize The Voice Actor For Playing This Guy...
Tumblr media
That's Right, It's Robert Axelrod Otherwise Known As Lord Zedd (He Also Voiced Finster Too But He's Most Remembered For Zedd RIP)
Visiting The House, The Frog Footman Tells Alice That It's Useless Ringing The Bell On The Outside As He's On The Outside Too, But Going Inside Anyway, Alice Meets The Duchess (Played By Benita Bizzare) And Her Maid (Played By Imogene Coca) Who Take Us Into The Next Song...
youtube
But Finding The House To Be Too Violent, Alice Takes The Duchess' Baby Away Only For It To Become A Pig..
After This, She Meets The Cheshire Cat (Played By Kojak) Who Leads Us Into Our Next Song After Telling Her That She Won't Be Able To Leave Wonderland...
youtube
Thinking That He's A Bad Cat, Alice Attempts To Leave But Before She Does, The Cheshire Cat Points Alice To The Mad Hatter (Played By Anthony Newley) And The March Hare (Played By Roddy McDowell Who Would Later Play The Batman Villain, Jervis Tetch Otherwise Known As The Mad Hatter On Batman The Animated Series) Before He Disappears...
Walking Along The Road, Alice Finds The Mad Hatter And The March Hare Having Tea With The Doormouse (Played By Arte Johnson) And Sits Down To Join Them...
As A Little Tea Time Entertainment, The Mad Hatter Leads Us Into Our Next Song Because He Doesn't Like Alice's Version Of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...
youtube
Eventually Upset By All The Rudeness At The Tea Party, Alice Continues Her Search For The White Rabbit As She Meets A Fawn In The Woods Which Leads To Our Next Song...
youtube
Finding A Doorway In The Woods, Alice Opens It And Finds Herself At A Beautiful Rose Garden Where She Meets Some Cards Who Are Painting The Roses Red, Only To Be Confronted By The Queen (Played By Jayne Meadows) And King (Played By Robert Morley) Of Hearts...
Who Arrives With Not Only The White Rabbit But A Whole Entourage Of People And Cards....
Introducing Herself To The Queen, She Asks Alice What's Going On Here Only For Alice To Tell Her That She Doesn't Know Much Of Anything As She's Only Been There For A Few Seconds Which Leads The Queen To Yell Off With Her Head.,.
But The King Defends Alice Believing That There's No Reason To Behead Her When She Doesn't Know Much Of Anything, Which Leads To Our Next Song...
youtube
Sparring Alice's Head For Now, The Queen Invites Her To Play A Game Of Croquet, Which Unlike The Disney Version Doesn't End With Alice Getting Her Head Nearly Chopped Off...
But Is Instead Just A Game Of Croquet With Flamingos...
With The Queen Pointing Alice In The Direction Of The Mock Turtle, Alice Goes Down The Path The Queen Suggested And Instead Runs Into The Gryphon (Played By Sid Caeser) Who Takes Alice To Meet The Mock Turtle (Played By Ringo Starr) Who Sings The Next And Probably Favorite Song From Part 1 Of This Movie..
youtube
Hearing Someone Yell That The Trial Is Beginning, Alice And The Gryphon Leave The Mock Turtle And Return To The Queen's Garden Where The Knave Of Hearts Is On Trial For Stealing One Of The Queen's Tarts, Despite There Being No Proof That He Did...
Bringing In The First Witness Or Should I Say Witnesses As They Bring In The Mad Hatter, The March Hare And The Doormouse, We Get Our Last Song For This Movie...
youtube
They Also Bring In The Duchess' Cook As A Witness As Well But Eventually Alice Argues The Ways Of The Queen's Court Which Leads Her To Grow As The Queen And Alice Continue To Argue...
Having Enough Of Alice's BS, The Queen Shouts Off With Her Head And Has Her Guards Chase Giant Alice But She's Not Afraid Of Them As They're Nothing But A Pack Of Cards...
Returning To Her Original Size As She Runs, Alice Eventually Trips And Falls Which Leads Her To Find Herself Back Home...
Now, This Is Where Things Get Interesting...
Entering Her House, She Finds Nobody There But Hearing And Seeing Her Cat Dinah On The Other Side Of The Mirror, Along With Her Parents Who Can't See Or Hear Alice But Their Own Reflections, Alice Can't Figure Out How To Get Through The Mirror...
So, She Sits In The Chair And Reads A Poem Called Jabberwocky Which Is About A Scary Monster But Getting Very Scared As She Reads It The Room Becomes Dark And The Jabberwocky Appears In The House...
You Know, I Once Saw A Video By James Rolfe (The Angry Video Game Nerd) And He Said That This Scene Scared Him As A Child To The Point He Was In Tears...
Saying That You Spend The Last Half Hour Looking At These Actors In Goofy Costumes Where This Thing Is Huge And Scary Compared To Alice...
Of Course, He Also Said That No Other Scene With The Jabberwocky Tops This Scene In Part 1 Which I Kindly Disagree With As There Are 2 That Could Possibly Be Scary...
To Be Continued...
Tomorrow...

Warnings: In-detail depictions of death and murder, language warning, mentions of violence and gang crime.
Notes: Wow! It's finally here!!! I hope this reveal lives up to your expectations... I'm so nervous to post it ahhhh! Let me know allof your final thoughts...
~~~Wednesday 30th January 2019~~~
"-I am arresting you under suspicion of the murder of Imogen Clarke. You do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if you do not mention something that you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given as evidence," Her voice is certain of every word and you swear for a moment you feel all hearts drop to the tiled floor. Going, going, gone.
~~~Friday 25th January 2019~~~
"Dad, please stop going on about it," You sigh, fixing the light curls of your hair for the millionth time, "Can I not just enjoy tonight? Or is that not allowed after the big sister reveal?"
Peter and Evan were stood in the doorway of your bedroom, clearly giving you extremely unimpressed looks about your decision to attend the Winter Ball.
"It's not just Imogen," Peter points out, nudging at his husband, "You know how we feel about that Thomas kid,"
You let out an exaggerated groan, turning around to face them, "Stop it! You're acting like he's completely destroying who I am. In fact, he's the only reason I actually want to be there tonight. I would be very happy to never have to see Imogen again. But I want to spend one last night at that school before you flip everything upside down again, okay?"
Your outburst was unexpected by all of you and your Dads are stunned into a welcomed silence, both of them looking at their baby girl with blinking eyes, refusing to believe that this school had changed her that much. But it had. And, of course, they wouldn't accept that. She was too pure to be tainted by the posh kids at that school.
"Tom's here," You sigh, more thankful than you'd be able to express to him. Turning quickly to check yourself in the mirror, you brush your hands cautiously over the material of your dainty dress, making sure the boxing gloves still hung right over your heart. You welcomed the nerves, it made this all feel like a real school dance - and not a shattering goodbye.
Tom was waiting at the door when you made your way down the stairs and the shine in his eyes made you instantly know you'd made the right choice with your dress. It was a dark sky blue colour and fell over the curves of your hips, cutting off at the point on your thighs where your stretch marks faded. His eyes echoed a mix of complete adoration and an utter surprise that you'd be the one he'd attend the ball with tonight.
"Hello stranger," He croaks out, quickly clearing his throat to try to avoid his cheeks growing too much of a pink glow.
"Hello, Thomas," You chuckle, realising just how much you'd missed that damn face.
He grabs your hand when you're just close enough to him and pulls you flush against his chest, "Do we really have to go to the ball? Can't we have our own party?"
You hum against his words, welcoming the hot air that they bathed your face in, "Maybe we could sneak a few moments to ourselves,"
"I know this is meant to be some big reunion or whatever but can we please get going?" Sam calls from his seat in the back of Tom's car, poking his head out from the open window.
You laugh and greet the twins who had opted to dress in matching suits for the night. Tom opened your door for you and, soon, the four of you were journeying towards school; still with the sickening feeling in your stomach that it would be your last time.
~~~
The school was electrified with a warm buzz, with all of your year filtering through the doors and welcoming the familiarity of chart songs blasting through the overhead speakers. Tom was greeted by everyone he walked past and he made sure to say hello to them all, still happy to take the title of King of this school. It was only when he saw Lily that he really had to force the 'nice boy' demeanour.
"It's nice to see you Lily," He smiles politely, twisting his hand in yours slightly as though he still needed to confirm you were there, "Did you have a good holiday?"
"Oh relax with the small talk," She rolls her eyes, "Talk to me when you've got rid of the downgrade, honey," Her lips press against his cheek in a bitter display of affection before she's strutting off with an excessive display of confidence.
You speak up before Tom can even try to apologise, "Let's get a drink, I think we might need something stronger than punch if we're going to make it through comments like that,"
His laugh is a sound you didn't realise you were missing as he willingly accepts you tugging him towards the refreshments stand where Noah and Z are visible.
"Well hello, stars of the show," Noah wiggles his brows at the two of you, handing over a cup of fruit punch to Sam who had walked over too.
"Hey guys," You grin, reaching over to get two cups for you and Tom, "Did you have a good holiday?"
All of you engage in relaxed small talk until the sound of the microphone cracking makes everyone's eyes divert toward the stage.
Mrs Osterfield took her position behind the microphone and cleared her throat. It was only then that everyone else joined you: Harrison, Lily, Harry, Noah, Zendaya, Sam, Imogen, Tom and you.
"Well, you all look beautiful tonight guys and I'm glad we can all be here to celebrate together. Something I've really noticed about this group is the community spirit - you are all one big team and that's something that you should really embrace-" She continues with her speech about how brilliant you all were before the lights dim in the sports hall and you're all left in a strange, prolonged darkness.
It is only then that something flashes. You can't help but divert your eyes to Zendaya and Noah, both hiding a deep pride for all of this, clearly being at the heart of the plan. You go back to reading the words spilling across the electronic screen.
'We were all told this term to expose something about ourselves and about each other. But it's time we expose something about the school we're relying on for our futures. How about them completely dismissing everything fucked up that's going on in our year? The manipulation of their teachers by eighteen year old students. The manipulation of other students by people forcing them into twisted relationships,'
Everybody in your group looks to Imogen who is red with a burning fury.
'We're living in a fucked up school. And Lily, Imogen, all of you, this is where it stops,"
The lights don't come back on but the chatter of every student in here is enough to cover any need for illumination. Enough had already been seen. And, in the blue light glow of the enlarged screen, you watch Imogen storm away from the crowd. When you glance back up, Zendaya and Noah have disappeared into the crowd and it is too dark to see where they've gone.
You find yourself following the focus of the recent exposure and you finally catch up with Imogen at the stairs.
"Imogen," You start, watching as she pauses in her high-heeled steps on the inclined floor.
"Did you set this up? Was this all you?" She questions, clearly not holding enough respect for you to justify her making any eye contact.
"No, god, no. I had no idea," You respond.
It felt strange to be seeing her now, not just as the bitch Imogen but as a girl you had spent your first moments as the sibling of. The girl you had the potential to grow up to want to be just like.
"Then what do you want? Are you here for an apology or something?" It is only now that she turns round, arms folded and looking in all ways dissimilar from you. Maybe you were thankful for that - her beauty held a chilling sin.
"I found something out over Christmas and I think it's important that you know," You begin, wrapping your hands around each other to express your nerves without trembling onto the ground.
"Well? Spit it out,"
"You're my sister," You manage to finally release, the words feeling sickening to be directed at someone you wanted to completely despise.
The look on her face was one you were all too knowing to not expect. A mocking smirk and the delicate release of a pathetic laugh.
"What the fuck is that meant to mean?" She scoffs, stepping one stair closer to you.
"What I just said. I was ado-" You begin but she is quick to cut you off, stepping so close that you could see every particle of her makeup.
"Oh, honey, don't act like there's some familial bond between us," She lets out an exasperated laugh, "Because, sis, I'm pretty sure family wouldn't be willing to help somebody steal from me,"
You're sure it is audible when your words clatter against the floor, echoing irritatingly through mocking halls.
"Don't test me, (Y/N)," She shakes her head, "And don't ever assume we're family, darling,"
And then she's gone, leaving you at the bottom of these stairs, sure that you were going to wake up in any moment. Nothing.
You're not sure how long you stay there, sitting against the cold stairs, until someone is there to greet you.
The familiar aftershave of Tom's wraps around you like a blanket as his arms hold your waist with a relieving comfort.
"So I lost everyone at the party, I literally couldn't find anyone," He comments, a harmless remark for now.
Tom pulls himself closer to you, his head only inches from yours.
"Is this our chance to get away?" He mumbles, breath hot as his lips brush your ear.
Tom needs no reply as he pulls you through the corridors and out through the doors towards the swimming pool.
"Tom," You hiss but you can't say anything more as you feel your back press against the harshness of the cold wall tiles. It forces you to let out an involuntary squeak that is instantly silenced by Tom's lips on yours.
You melt into the contact that you had been missing for weeks and forget all about the rest. It was just him.
When he pulls away, his forehead is on yours and his nose bumps subconsciously with yours, "(Y/N)," He begins, welcoming the breathless nature of his words, "I know. I know your parents want you to leave. And I know you're going to leave after tonight," His confession feels like you've just been hit against the tiled wall once again, forceful and unforgiving.
"I-" You start, "How did you find out?"
"I knew your Dads were still debating it so I found Evan's number and I spoke to him whilst you were away," You find yourself gripping onto him a little tighter as he speaks, "I pleaded with him for ages to try to get you to stay. But he said the only way you'd ever be able to carry on here would be if you separated yourself from everyone who's had a bad impact on you. From me,"
"Tom I'm not staying here if-"
"I also knew that would be your response. So, I want to spend this one last weekend with you and then we'll decide your fate after that. We'll decide if you stay or go. But, let's just get away for a weekend," His positive encouragement is enough to make you want to agree wholeheartedly.
"Okay," You whisper and his face brightens enough to make your dark surroundings feel blinding.
"Then let's go, you know what your parents are like. They wouldn't want you to step a foot out of here with me," He points out, his hand gripping yours with more certainty than ever.
Tom goes to pull you away and it is in that moment that everything just stops. The shattering blow was an unmistakable sound and so was the ear bursting thud that followed. And, then, a stumbling silence.
"What wa-" Tom begins but he sees the way your eyes glaze over. The way your hand falls out of his and the way he's sure your heart audibly stops. It is only then that his eyes follow yours, tracing the invisible path to where you couldn't bare to rip your gaze from.
Unmistakable.
You could see how their hands were trembling, and how the trophy fit into them with a deathly uncertainty, a foreign power. Their eyes held a fury that was washed over with a sheer shock at what their own actions had just caused. And their stumbling feet told you that their mind still hadn't processed what their instincts had just caused.
"No," Tom shakes his head, feet chasing after the scene like they'd run fast enough to rewind it, "No, no, no, no,"
It was as clear as day in the dim setting. Her body, unforgivingly lifeless in the scarlet pooling of her once rushing blood. Her eyes, fluttered shut to echo a false hope that she was peaceful, only to be shattered by the ragged wound across her styled hair.
"What have you done?" Tom yells, his eyes diverting around every single feature of this mess.
The trophy clattered to the floor in another bone shuddering clash. And you could see how their hands trembled, a vision of thankfulness for the power they were able ro release from grip.
"She- she knew too much," They stumbled over the words like it wasn't their mouth saying them and it wasn't their hands that had just stopped all knowledge she could have held.
It was in that moment you could see how unreal this all seemed to Tom. In front of him was no longer a person he knew. It was a person he was sure he never wanted to meet. Because, behind trembling hands and crying eyes, there was someone who had just killed another. A murderer. His brother.
"She knew about the gang, and she knew about the pregnancy test," He shakes and the movement is recognisable in his fearful words, "And then I heard her talking to you (y/n), she knew about the necklace and us and Harrison,"
Tom can't possibly rip his eyes away from the boy in front of him but you know he's wishing he could be anywhere else. That he could wake up and have his younger brother again, and not this tainted form of the boy he once was.
"Okay, you need to get out of here," You nod, certain of your unsure words, "Go through the back alley to your house and stay there until we tell you to come back. We'll just say you didn't feel well and you came back once you heard something had happened,"
He looks at you and his eyes are blurring with a terrified haze.
"Tom, me and you need to go. We'll go to the gym and just say that we went there after the whole fiasco at the ball to spend some time together. Nobody will question it," You say to him and it is only then that he makes eye contact with you.
"Tom, am I going to prison?" The younger holland brother asks, and it is only then that he truly starts to cry.
"Hey, hey," Tom steps over to him and grips his shoulders, "You're my brother. I'd do anything for you. That's what it means to be a Holland, okay Harry?"
And then he's running.
You force yourself with everything to look down at the lifeless body. The dried blood that stained her hair and trailed down her face. It all felt too gone. Like she'd been gone for far too long.
"We need to get rid of that fucking trophy," You mention and you're sure that everything around you is spinning apart from that blood soaked weapon.
"T-Tom?"
Both of you look up to see Sam stood frozen in the doorway of the swimming pool, looking between you and Tom like he wanted to run as far away from you as possible.
"Sam, buddy, we need you to do something," Tom states, "I need you to take that trophy, go out the back door, and get it as far away from here as possible,"
Sam can't help but listen to the words of his brother, whom he was willing to trust with his life.
"It was Harry, wasn't it?" He says as his hands grasp the cold, twisted metal of the trophy.
"Now's not the time," Tom replies, still refusing to confirm it yet, "Get out of here, go!"
It is as soon as his brothers are out of here that you see Tom decline. He runs his hands through his hair and you're sure he can feel everything around him crumbling.
"Babe, come on, we can't stay here," You grab at his hand and start pulling him toward the door, wanting to get as far away from the scene as your mind would let you run.
And the two of you set off like there's a fire at your heels. But what really chased at your escape was much worse than any fire could muster. It was the glass eyes of your blood relation, at the cold hands of Tom's own brother.
You're sprinting down the corridor behind Tom and watch as his hands tug at the tie around his neck, throwing it's silk to the floor in an absentminded throw. The restriction in his chest was impossible to stop.
And you were running - away from a fate that was far too sickening to fathom.
Say You Won't Let Go
Drawing her bare legs up beneath her, Katarina leaned against the rail and stared down at the deceptively peaceful water lapping at the sides of the boat. She didn't know what Imogen was thinking, hosting another party on her parents yacht so soon after Kyle's death. It just felt wrong. It also felt like they were asking for trouble. 'I shouldn't have come,' Katarina thought, her fingers absentmindedly toying with the frayed hem of her denim shorts. She'd been on the verge of declining the invitation when Imogen mentioned that Parker was going to be off duty and able to come have fun for once. Like some love sick school girl, Katarina had quickly accepted. It had been a mistake. Parker hadn't spoken more than two words to her and she couldn't shake the guilt or unease for attending a party that felt very much like the one where Kyle had died.
“Hey.”
At the sound of Parker's voice, Katarina drew her gaze from the water. Her traitorous heart sped up, fueled by a love sick adrenaline rush. “Hey,” she echoed. The fingers plucking at the fraying on her shorts picked up speed, tangling in the white threads. She didn't know how to react to his sudden attention. The last time they had been alone together she had made a fool of herself by flirting with him and asking him for coffee. He'd quickly shot her down, citing work as the reason. It had been a plausible excuse, one that didn't completely put her off since he'd followed it by suggesting they exchange numbers. Not that he ever contacted her. Which made her coming to the party because he was going to be there even more pathetic.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
The question caught Katarina off guard. Her brows drew together, confusion clouded her eyes. “Like what?”
“Like you're confused about why I'm talking to you.” He nudged her foot with his own, a playful grin stretching across his full, kissable lips. Full, kissable lips? It took every ounce of Katarina's will power not to gag. Since when was she that girl? The one who noticed things like how kissable a guy's lips were? Looks had never factored into what attracted her to a guy. Her ex-boyfriend Gary had been cute enough, in a Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory sort of way, but it had been his quirky sense of humor that drew her in. Ironically enough, it was that same quirky humor that pushed her away. Well, that and the fact that he'd made her first and only sexual experience awful. There had been no foreplay, no loving kisses. Just Gary lubing up with some KY and sticking it in. His reasoning had been the first time was going to suck no matter what so why not just get it over with so they could get to the good stuff. He hadn't thought about how painful it would be for her or how she might not appreciate his little jokes about needing practice. 'Why are you thinking about that loser,' she silently scolded herself. She knew the answer. It was Parker and his kissable lips.
“I'm not confused,” Katarina lied. Everything about Parker confused her. His hot and cold demeanor. The way he made her feel. It would be easier if she was the sort of girl who could just point blank ask a guy how he felt, what his intentions were. She didn't have that sort of bravery in her. Jumping in to save Kyle and then trying to get justice for Ned had been anomalies, she didn't usually have that much courage.
“Good because most girls don't understand about my no flirting while on the clock rule.” He dropped down next to her, his muscular thigh pressing against her slimmer one. “It probably seems silly, but I'm the youngest and the newest...a lot of the older officers are just waiting for me to screw up.” Parker glanced at her, his grin widening, “you should know...not flirting with you has been the hardest thing I've done in a while.”
“Really?” Her heart skipped a beat before accelerating to triple time when he nodded. Katarina chewed her lower lip and then let out a sigh. “Parker, I'm really not very understanding. I mean, I am. I totally get why you don't flirt while you're on the clock. I just...I didn't realize you were serious about that and...” she shrugged, her cheeks flushing.
“And you thought I wasn't interested.” She nodded. “Kat, if I wasn't interested I wouldn't have given you my phone number or asked for yours.”
Katarina felt her cheeks flush even more. “I thought you were being polite. Besides...you never text or called me. What was I supposed to think?”
“You could have text me,” Parker pointed out. “That's why I gave you my number. Plus, I've been busy.” He glanced around before lowering his voice. “I talked to Ned after you came into the station the other day. He wasn't acting like himself and he was definitely favoring his left side...like he'd hurt himself or-”
“Or been stabbed,” Katarina finished breathlessly. The fact that Parker had taken her seriously when she'd burst into the station announcing that Ned had been stabbed to death, only for Ned to walk out of the Chief's office very much alive, was huge. Parker had no reason to trust her, she wouldn't have blamed him for writing her off as crazy after that incident, but he'd taken her at her word and looked into it. “Parker, I-”
“Guys,” Imogen cried, dancing towards them, “it's a party!” She grabbed Katarina by the hand, pulling her to her feet. “Dance with me! You too Parker!”
“I don't dance,” Katarina protested, glancing over her shoulder at Parker. He smiled and then shrugged before moving his body in time to the music. 'Of course he's a good dancer,' she thought, trying to coordinate her body with the rhythm of the song. It was one she recognized and had occasionally danced to in the privacy of her dorm room. Who didn't dance when Kesha came on?
“This place about to blow-oh-oh-oh,” Imogen sang, shaking her hair out of her face and shrieking with laughter. It was a relief to see something other than sadness on the other girl's face. The memory of Kyle was hovering just beneath the surface, it was written in her eyes, but she wasn't going to let it define how she lived. “Come on, Kat! Sing it with me!”
Katarina shook her head. “Hard pass.” The only thing worse than her dancing was her singing. Her freshmen roommate had dragged her to a charity Karoke event and basically forced her on to the stage, where she was promptly booed off before she could reach the chorus of Miley Cyrus' Party In The USA.
“Dance with me?” Parker pulled her close as the music transitioned into a slow ballad. Heart pounding, Katarina raised her arms and looped them around Parker's neck. Beneath his light gray t shirt she could feel his heart thumping triple time. She closed her eyes, trying to concentrate on the lyrics of the song instead of how amazing it felt to have Parker's hands resting on her hips. I met you in the dark, you lit me up. You made me feel as though I was enough. We danced the night away... “There's just something about you,” he murmured against her ear. Her eyes fluttered open, their gazes locking. She felt her breathing starting to accelerate when his head dipped just slightly. “Kat...” The way he whispered her name sent tingles throughout her body. It was unlike anything she'd ever felt. She closed her eyes, her breathe hitching when his lips brushed across hers. It was innocent enough, just a whisper of flesh against flesh, yet there was something hot and demanding as well...a promise of more. “Kat,” he whispered again. His left hand slid up the side of her body, stirring awareness, before sliding into her wavy dark hair. His fingers rest just below her ear, his thumb gently rubbing across her cheek bone as their breathes mingled. He used his other arm to pull her closer, sealing the gap between their bodies. It felt right, the way each curve and valley fit together perfectly.
“Ahem.”
Katarina jumped back, her cheeks blazing with color as she turned to face Imogen. There was a curious mixture of amusement and jealousy in her friend's golden brown eyes. “I hate to break things  up, but my mom called. We have to dock the boat,” Imogen sulked. “Apparently Daddy is pushing for new restrictions about drinking on the lake and it wouldn't look good for his daughter to be throwing a party...especially so soon after an alcohol involved drowning.” Tears brimmed her lashes. “Did she really have to bring up Kyle like that? She made it sound like...like I don't care.”
“I'm sure she didn't mean it like that,” Katarina tried to reassure her but a quick glance at Parker's grimace told her that Imogen's mom probably had meant it like that. “I'm sorry Im.”
“It's not your fault.” Imogen let out a frustrated sigh.
“Thanks for coming though. I know you were a little hesitant...so I just...I appreciate what a good friend you are Katarina. I don't have many of those left.” The smaller girl impulsively engulfed Katarina in a hug. “Please be careful with Parker,” she whispered lowly. “He's a nice guy but he's got a bit of a reputation for being a flirt. I don't think I've ever seen him get serious with anyone.”
The words were like cold water being thrown in  her face. Everything in Katarina froze. She forced a smile before pulling back. “I'm always careful,” she promised. “It's my middle name. Well, not really, but...it could be.”
“Lunch tomorrow?”
Katarina nodded, shoving her hands into the back pockets of her shorts. Her mile faded when Imogen left to relay the news to the rest of her guests. She should have known Parker was a player. 'Not a player,' an inner voice chided, 'a flirt. There is a difference.' Was there though? Katarina wasn't exactly naive when it came to men but she wasn't all that experienced either. “You have that confused look on your face again,” Parker said softly.
“Oh.” She ducked her head down, studying the apricot colored polish on her toes. “Sorry. I was just thinking.”
“About what Imogen said?” Katarina's head jerked up, her eyes widening. Parker let out a small chuckle and then sighed. “She's not very good at whispering.” He let out another sigh, walking the short distance to the rail. He stared out at the water before turning to face her. “Can I just be blunt?” She hesitated for a moment before nodding. “Pine Spring is a small town. People tend to mistaken friendliness for flirting. I'm not saying I don't flirt...I do...just not as much as people claim. As for never being serious with someone...I guess I've never met the right someone.” His voice lowered, the gold flecks in his hazel eyes intensifying. “Until now.”
Conflict warred with desire. She'd already been through one crummy relationship that had left her sad, disillusioned, and wear. Did she really want to take that risk again? Her mind kept drifting back to the kiss that wasn't quite a kiss. There had been real feeling there...on both of their parts. She hadn't just imagined that. Katarina glanced in Imogen's direction. She knew Imogen meant well, that she was trying to be a good friend, but she also knew Parker was telling the truth. 'You have enough regrets in your life, do you really want to add Parker to that list?'  The answer was simple. She was tired of regrets. If there was one thing she had learned from her parents deaths and the strangeness going on in Pine Springs it was that life was short. Too short really. “Hey Parker,” she said softly, “I like you too. Besides...” she smiled sweetly, “you still owe me a dance.”
