The Ink Demon looked up above his glasses at Tom from his seated sprawl.

"It's not as simple as destroying the ink machine." He sighed. "Or we'd all be freed already. I hate saying this. Drew was a mad genius when he cobbled this system together."

A Winter Scene

The Ink Demon is ensuring little Darling with wearing proper winter gear which Darling is a bit sulky about being fussed over. Quietly squealing Alice Su hangs off an equally amused Buddy. Tom and Norman Projectionist are ignoring this all for hot cups of tea and talking about the weather.

(This is an AU of the AU - maybe?)

Anyway, working away mostly on the written parts of Darker Places. I've not been happy with the Ink Demon's design - the Devil Darling is more or less set. Then I've seen the Wandering Sin cutouts and thought.... Why not? I rather like it, so one thing lead to another....

Also listening to LoFi plus a cold winter day lead to this particular scene.

So yeah. Originally I was going to include the event of Sammy's fate but this one flows a bit better and quicker.

I am not completely sure on third page yet. We will see.

Joey is a right ***hole here, soul squeezing and all. He's one fine cartoon villain though. Poor Sammy Searcher.

Never fear. I am still working on BnH: Darker Places. I am just prone to fine-tuning things to ensure flow.

So here's me trying to compose a critical panel between 'Papa Drew' and Sammy.

Honestly, Joey might be just an opportunist of highest degree and an high level manipulator. His mental disconnect with empathy for other humans/toons is this version's biggest flaw at this point.
